Unacceptable I demand BHVR heals Instanerfs!

  • To make things more fun while using Plunderer's let whatever item you get from the box determine what aspect you will focus on during the match.

    Med kit= Altruistic with saves/heals
    Toolbox= Gen jokey
Map= Gen jokey or totem finder
    Purple key= Quick team escape
    Flashlight= Saving teammates/decoy
    Broken key= Try again!

Our little group of SWF is not super strong or toxic. But when I play with them I constantly hear how OP the Killers are. Doesn't matter which Killer -> OP

They can see me across the map
    They always find me
This is (add ability) is so OP
    etc.

I try to explain to them how things work, since I do play more Killer then SV. But I can't get through them. Even Killers like Freddy are so OP. A few days ago they got tombstoned by Myers. I told how hard that actually is to pull off and that the Killer needed two ultra rares. On top they got this the first time in their entire playtime. I personally haven't gotten tombstoned yet. So while this surely is a very strong ability from Myers, you surely will not encounter this very often.
Also explaining how hard games can become for Killers at Rank 5 - 1 against really good SWF, including toxic SWF, is like talking to a brick wall. It's just complaining about the Killers, but never about their own fault or lack of knowledge of proper looping or when to drop a pallet, etc.

Anyway... Do you guy have such SWF as well?

Yeah I have 1 friend in particular who never plays killer and yet will constantly ridicule/complain about how the killer plays. The one that drives me nuts the most is when they say "oh the (beep) is long range camping." I honestly wish they were being sarcastic with this remark but they aren't...

It all boils down to people like being chased but not being caught, when someone is caught they never want to blame themselves and see what they could have don't differently OR accept that getting caught is going to happen at some point. Once that "fun" is ruined for them they find a way to point their finger at the killer.

    Kind of a silly oversight.

While we're on the topic, why do the survivor escape ones say "escape and survive?" You can't do one without the other.

    Just a nitpick. ;)

I escape most matches but I'm still dead inside...

Will the collecting of the coins be like the vials at beginning or like after the hot fix where they merged the count (0/60 instead of 2 times 0/30)?

I can already see how insane the lobby time is going to be for killer of they don't merge the count of killer and survivor

I'm assuming they will be merged should this system be similar to the Halloween event. If not it would seriously drag their reputation through the mud since it was a disaster last time.

I'm confident it won't be a repeated mistake.

Exactly. But people will still complain that this is broken, same with the alert

Once the dust settled the complains stopped. Just like Make your Choice, Deliverance, Rancor etc.

Can you point out where anyone complained about it being OP that wasn't during the initial hysteria?

I think the difference here is they were all new perks that people had little to no experience using unlike SC a perk we have had since day 1. Its far easier to see the implications the change would have since we already have a solid foundation of information.

The title is a bit misleading, but not too much. The upcoming self care buff is a buff to single survivors, as they don’t need to waste as much time healing. It kind of misleads swf to be nerfed, but indirectly. I’m sure more will be solo survivors in the next update.

Its buffing anyone who uses SC because now there is no point in having someone else waste time healing you since you can do it just fine. Now people are less likely to waste their time getting off a gen to heal you and will instead keep on trucking.

And lets face it SC is already the single most used perk in DBD so I really don't understand the reasoning behind this buff.

Yeah, and my point isn't that I can't see them my point is that he just shouldn't get caught by them and it opens up more mindgames.

I think he needs to be able to step in his own traps so that the basement plays don't become absolutely out of hand HOWEVER they really need to reduce the hitboxes of him getting caught. I've watched survivors dance around the traps while (for me) they seem to teleport under my feet when I'm giving them a wide birth.

It has only showed up once in the entirety of Shrine existence (close to 3 years now?). So don't bet on it. :P

Thats not true I got BBQ from the shrine ages ago (don't own Cannibal) and it was on the shrine in October also...so that is at least twice! :p

  • Decided to give the game another go (since I only sometimes play events now) and I had 3 killer dailies. First match was a Hillbilly match and 3 people disconnected once downed. Second match was Wraith and 3 people disconnected 1 when they missed their DS the other 2 once downed (the last player being a good sport was still trying his best to do gens so I let him farm). Third match was Nurse (mind you I play PS4) and after I got my first hook he instantly DCed followed by one who DCed as soon as they were downed and the other two once they realized 2 people DCed.

To sum it up THIS is the main reason why I have mostly stopped playing and why the Console ban system cannot come soon enough.

    Oh no...

  • Sees "Survivor Main" post...

    STALKING INTENSIFIES!

  • I miss being able to see people hiding in lockers when the killer is chasing someone on the other side of the map. I use to jump through a window or fast vault into a locker next to them. If they are going to do nothing for the team then I'll use them as bait.

Even "new" players need to learn the hard way that lockers are simply there as decoration and not actually intended to be used.

  • My answer is also not on there. I save them because I have been playing this game since ti first came out and have almost everything on my characters. By saving that player they get to gather more points and continue having fun. It is also fun for me to rescue them and keep them safe afterwards.

Short answer its more fun for everyone.

Why did I just get 3 back to back games in which all 3 were Huntresses with iridescent hatchets and some had red mori's? I even had one huntress roleplay in post chat as some dominatrix chick. Like #########? Did I miss a event announcement? Hell, I don't even blame the survivors who literally dced after they saw the mori or when they saw the instant down hatchet.

The Winter event gave out ultra rare offerings to both survivors and killers in spades. For this reason you will see loads of games over the next few weeks where both sides are using them. The biggest downside is that survivors often get to enjoy their ultra rare offerings during a match and killers have to deal with instant disconnects.

The ranking system is broken because its not a rank based on skill, its a rank based on how much you play the game in the month before rank reset. Its too easy to rank up (even as a solo survivor and killer) and even easier to derank.

Exactly. Since rank is the only play option and getting a safety pip is a joke and getting at least 1 pip is very easy most people will make it to high ranks with little time and effort. Yes there is a difference between a rank 1 player and a rank 20 player but its not because of the numbered rank that player is but because most rank 1 players have been playing DBD for longer than most rank 20 players (mind you rank reset constantly skews them back together). Experience is being too highly valued over skill with this ranking system. I'm not sure what the player base looks like but either we need to have a casual mode separated from rank or rank needs to become more difficult to achieve. Both of these methods also carry their own difficulties.

If we add a casual mode then DBD's player base may not be high enough to sustain a healthy rank system making rank unplayable with wait times. On the contrary if we make the ranking system more skill based and more difficult to climb then we end up in a situation where people will become ever more toxic. For the later option think of Overwatch and how horrible people are to their teammates. Since it is a team game and you are dependent on each other (to an extent) people will become ever more flamed at one another. I think with a more "skill" based system DBD would reach new levels of toxicity.

I would personally prefer rank to simply be removed entirely as it currently holds little value. I feel with no rank number/icon showing on your account and creating a false sense of accomplishment more people might just chill and enjoy the game. Sadly humans are hardwired to be competitive and reach for rewards and success and the current system is creating a false sense of both and pushing people to get upset far too easily.

Because there is a lot of...well nagative posts, hey let's do some more positive ones! i understand some are needed, esp with bugs etc, hey i am loving the ideas a lot....but what is a great momet from playing DBD? i actually just find it nice when i am swaying arounf, wiggling about, very much blinking my torch to someone, having a nod up and down moment to someone....i do like it when i do have great team players....i know sometimes moments can't be helped....but what are your good moments?

The time I challenged myself to get a 4k game with Doctor where I could only hit people in tier 3 madness and I couldn't hook anyone unless all 4 were down. The match lasted for nearly 35 minutes and I finally got all 4 of them. After the match the group was actually rather chill about it but confused as to why I wasn't hooking anyone. We ended up meeting in another match later that day and they recognized me so we ended up farming.

  • I played against a Wraith who's game was lagging something fierce. During the chase I think we both must have given up hope because we just stared at each-other. After that bit of understanding I ratted my friends out and the Wraith and I became good pals.

It lasts pretty much all game and applies to healing as well so you always get the benefit. I feel like Ruin only has an impact when it stays on the map and doesn't get busted in the first minute and it' seems heavily rng and map reliant.

    Thanataphobia

1 injured, downed or hooked survivor = 3 seconds on a generator
2 injured, downed or hooked survivors = 5 seconds on a generator
    3 injured,downed or hooked survivors = 8 seconds on a generator
4 injured, downed hooked (except all 4 because you win) = 12 seconds on a generator

The Red bar while performing an action when someone is injured, downed or hooked = priceless

  • At least you can still sort of see...
    Flashbacks of old flashlight blinds

  • I think the only thing that needs to change with the Pig's sneak attack is the removal of that loud as hell squeal.

  • Considering BP events that are not tied to any Seasonal event are purely given as a kind gesture I don't care if they decided to make them 1 hour only or a full week. It was a kind gesture to simply give people a shot at some extra BP. I see many people complaining (for various reasons) as if the BP events are a right for us to have. Lets just be grateful they give them out as frequently as they do and suck up our losses if we didn't (for whatever reason) have the time to take full advantage of them.

  • @CJsDBD

The biggest problem (the single biggest problem since the early days) is SWF.

If this game had no voice communication (PC/console party) and it forced survivors to play solo then I think it would be much easier to balance. Due to the huge amount of information a group is given by verbal communication the games balance takes a huge hit. Verbal communication ruins many of the perks and mechanics currently in place for the killer to use.

Personally I would like to see SWF disappear but I'll freely admit that as a Killer/Solo survivor player I am in the minority. I think in order to find a balance in this game (the best you can do being an asymmetrical game) would involve a complete overhaul of perks and the SWF mechanic, something I do not see happening anytime in the near or late future with this game.

My interest in DBD may have decreased over the past few years due to general burnout and community arguing but I do still enjoy it from time to time. In my mind I don't think the current DBD we have should focus on perfect balance because the work involved would required far to much time and effort for a game entering its later years. I would primarily focus on making DBD as "fun" as possible without taking itself too seriously and save a true "balanced" survival horror game for any sort of DBD 2.

Either way that is just my piece of mind and I'm sure many people have their own opinions on the matter. The thing is when it comes to balance and fun no one can ever be entirely right or wrong.

What perks do you usually run?
and how do you games fair in results when you use those builds?

    Self-care
    Bond
    Plunderer's
Urban Evasion OR Ace in the Hole

I let whatever item I get from the box determine how I'll play (or at least what I'll focus) during the match.

The perks mean nothing for my success rate as my play-style could end up being gen jockey if I get a toolbox or the altruistic player should I get a med-kit.

I really think the developers need to see first hand how bad things can be. These aren't isolated incidents either. We all get these far more than we should.

When are they going to do something? What can they even do? One thing is for certain, it needs cleaning up.

The toxicity just keeps building and building and then you hear reports about people being ddos'd on the extreme end.

This is why there's a team of six of us ACMs going through all of the reports. It's not a mystery, we see it every day and we deal with them. There's a lot of people playing the game and new people starting to play all the time. We can ban them now and more will pop up later. As with any online game, it'll never go away, there will always be people trying to ruin the game for others. But over time, as the temporary bans these kinds of people receive escalate and eventually become permanent, we hope to see less of it.

Console would like a word with you.

He throws the survivor down, and their face stops just short of setting off a bear trap, then the trapper puts his foot on their back.
The survivor screams as they struggle to not get their face rammed into the trap as the trapper pushes them down but they fail, and the trap snaps around their neck/head/face.

Version 2: The trapper knocks the survivor to the ground and places a trap next to them. The survivor is stunned by the shove and is then forced to watch as the trapper places a purple flashlight on the trap and sets it off. The survivor screams in frustration and denial as they watch the flashlight shatter into pieces. They then faint from the trauma they were forced to witness.

The reason they said that isn't because moonwalking survivors is some sort of exploit. They said that because they don't feel like that should be the optimal way to play the killer. Which means they recognize that there is a somewhat fundamental flaw in the killers design if playing them backwards is optimal.

    1. It's only an exploit on Legion. Every other killer is fine.
    2. They clearly stated that they'll change things if the moonwalking is the only thing that'll work with Legion
    3. The developers clearly stated that it was not an intended mechanic.
    4. It goes completely against the whole concept of using the hit and run play-style the legion has.

    It's still an exploit.

At this point I'm pretty sure DBD calls them all Features.

Her passive phasing is only op when you use her high end addons and if you keep the red stain during that she'd have to get buffed someplace else to make up the difference. What you really should be focusing on instead of asking for a needless nerf is something else.

It's what the Navy always drilled into your head which was "ATTENTION TO DETAIL", if you pay attention to grass moving etc like with Wraith.

Some surviors just want every killer to be able to be looped for 5 gens. God forbid we get killers where survivors dont feel safe on the other side of a pallet.

To be fair people are confused. OP is only talking about the passive phasing aspect of spirit. The part of her ability, which is RNG and like the name said passive. I'm not a big fan of it, because as a Killer to utilize it you really have to gues or hope, when you turn in loop, that your passive phasing is triggering. There isn't any indication that it's happening right now. Mindgames with vaults e.g. are much more controlled or how to utilize the actual phase walk or fake it.
Passive phasing is just awkward right now. It looks cool, but it's totally random. It's the only thing I would love to see some rework of sorts, so it feels more controlled for the Killer.

Actually I think almost everyone understood what the OP meant and have responded accordingly.

It's not busted. The rank resets just happened.

It is busted because the seasons are too short and "rank" means nothing given that anyone at anytime can be any rank, even without using the SWF exploit. I honestly don't know why they have yet to address for the past 2 1/2 years how horrible the matchmaking system is. They don't even have basic systems in place to prevent people from de-ranking/disconnecting, its absurd.

Seasons being too short, people de-ranking, or disconnecting are not factors to show ranking is "broken". Those are simply bad design features that we all disagree with them doing.

The ranking system is extremely flawed and not a good representation of skill, but to say it means nothing, is just exaggeration and simply not true. A very small minority of people are actually at rank 1 and playing against a rank 1 is vastly different from playing against a rank 20.

Because the system is currently broken many rank 1 players are playing against new players. So yes the examples I gave are reasons as to why the current system is broken. These are also reasons why rank does not matter right now because the system they have doesn't actually keep people in their respective ranks reliably.
