These devs should be embarrassed.

Milestones got nerfed extremely hard both in terms of rift fragments but also in how grind heavy they are. At the same time, daily challenges got "buffed" from 3 to 4 per day and each one rewards more fragments. This looks like a calculated move to introduce more fomo into the rift and "encourage" players to log in daily. Maybe I'm wrong but that's the impression I'm getting from those changes.
Ya it's more like a threat than an encouragement lol

lol thanks idk why I didn’t check there 🤦

Double/triple XP is the incentive most likely to get me to play.
The only time I care about BP is the week or so before and after a chapter releases so I can get the new character(s) to prestige 3. Log in bonuses will just get me to log in and then log back off. 2x daily ritual rewards? LOL I literally go months without looking at daily rituals.
So ya all I care about is XP for shards, the most valuable currency after auric cells.

hahahahaha

I hope Lights Out never comes back.

Do you? All I've been hearing is complaints about Thrill. Not even gonna go into how simple it is to counter.
Y'all will call anything a simulator that makes the game not a free win. Gen simulator. Mending simulator. Totem simulator. It's so see-through.
lmao ok. Easy for a killer main to say. Killer gameplay is always varied. Any action killers need to take is very quick, you’re never sitting staring at a progress bar. And that makes sense, I'm not complaining. But survivor gameplay between chases is a series of progress bars. From repairing, to healing, to mending, to totems, to exit gates. Making cleansing take substantially longer is extremely ######### boring, there aren’t even any skill checks. And as solo there is no good counter other than using a perk slot on Counter Force. But if the killer has Face the Darkness you could literally spend 44 spends cleansing a totem only to scream at the last second and erase all progress. Want to stifle screaming? Bring Calm Spirit and take 30% longer on top of Thrill. That is BEYOND stupid and anyone who disagrees is biased and not worth listening to.
what devs actually need to do is introduce secondary objectives with unique gameplay mechanics so they can reduce all the times spent staring into the ######### void. Will they ever do that? At 7 years in, it’s extremely unlikely.

im gonna guess most of the players I go against do not use nightlight

Correct - the fact that you saw the same build 3 games in a row definitively proves that nobody in the entire community has an original thought 🙄

I mean two ghostfaces just makes sense.
If they did that, they should work into the lore that there have, in fact, always been two ghostfaces.
That would be so awesome. I wish Bhvr would make that happen and get a bunch of skins for characters from the movies. I know it’s two different licenses and unlikely to happen. But I can dream.
-
I think they could buff it to 30% and make it so you can see exit gate progress by looking at the switch auras.
And/or make it so other survivors can see your aura when you are within 8m of a switch

Is Resident Evil an indie horror game? I said FNAF is the indie horror game, which it is, not that it’s the horror game.
you said AAA games wish they could compete with it lmao

FNAF is basically the indie horror game. It kicked off successful sequels, books, spin-offs, merch, supported fan games, it's own sub-genre of game, cameos, and even a full-length movie, while still staying relevant a decade later. Even big AAA companies wish they could pull something like that off. I actually can't think of a modern horror game that comes close.
I'm very curious to what the player spike will look like once it's released, maybe matches will be chill for a few days even
huh?
Resident Evil is one of the most successful video game franchises of all time. The series has sold over 160 million copies. As far as I can tell, FNAF has sold around 7 million. They're not comparable.

I feel like most people either give up super early, like because they get hooked first, after there are a bunch of hooks and little to no gen progress, or when they are tunneled/camped. In most cases survivors are quitting when they think/know they can’t escape. So I’m not sure what a larger escape reward would do for that.
Maybe if there was a match completion bonus (that could somehow detect hook suicides so as not to reward them) people would stay. -
Had a killer stand on the hatch for 15 minutes while I went around and did gens. Before I finished the last gen they closed the hatch and then patrolled the gates. I stayed out of sight because if you’re gonna waste my ******* time I’m gonna waste yours and not given you a free mori.
Bhvr needs to cut the **** and implement a surrender option.

Didn't seem like it at all when I played against it last night. It would be way more productive to make a post in the bug report section than to make this thread here in general in that case. I didn't find anything about this bug in bug reports.
it’s also way more productive to thoroughly read a post before responding to it.

The problem with this statement is that "average" is actually horrible and unviable at a high level. They need to be brining more of the killers up while nerfing the top 3-4, rather than nerfing something like skull merchant who, when played against for real, has probably an underwhelming kill rate, but only has a high kill rate due to people just giving up immediately against her.
The problem is that kill rates are inflated massively due to survivors giving up on hook, and skull merchant being a 72% kill rate proves that.
except they said hook suicides only accounted for 2.5% of SM kills and that it’s not much more than average.

It's toxic to play a Killer in the mode now?
have you played against Dredge in this mode? You can’t see ANYTHING in nightfall.
-
lol
-
@Dreamnomad said:
It's always optional. You don't have to play it. Unlike 2v8 that had a distinct effect on normal game mode, you can still get games in a reasonable time period on regular with Lights Out. I think with a few tweaks like letting us bring bloodpoint only offerings would go a long way.
I’m aware it’s optional. This has nothing to do with queue times. My issue is I think the devs are wasting time and resources on this mode, just like they are wasting time and resources on constantly having to rework poorly designed killers. It’s not so easy to just remove a killer, but it is easy to move on from a modifier. They should focus on modes that are unique and interesting, and not modes that just make the game darker and remove certain elements that game balance is reliant on, like terror radius, survivor portrait statuses and scratch marks.

You're also forgetting survivors have a lot of aura read perks as well, with even more becoming stronger next patch.

Posts like this make me want a downvote option.
sure but a lot of killers have built in undetectable and there are perks that grant you undetectable.
I actually did a full killer aura build with Alert, Eyes of Belmont, Inner Focus and Fogwise and there were at times 30+ seconds of near nonstop aura reading of the killer. It was stupid and so is gutting Distortion.
-
@Rulebreaker said:
So outta curiosity, how many of those can be in a single trial?
No reliable way of knowing what aura perks killers are running now other than Weave (when the icon isn’t bugged).
You could also run OoO but that triggers regularly, revealing your aura, so there’s no way to be certain if you walked by a dropped pallet, a chest or if it was just OoO. -
@ChaosWam said:
You really think killers are running every single form of aura read?
Without gen regression?Yes that’s obviously what I think.
-
@Seraphor said:
Damn. It used to be "killers only ever run slowdown perks and it's ruining the game!" Or "it's pointless running anything but 4 slowdown perks if you want to win'", while I always argued that info perks are actually more useful and less problematic because you can use info to inform your tactics and be more efficient at direct pressure rather than passive/automatic slowdown.
Now info perks are considered toxic.
"What's left?" They say.
The answer is that everything is fine in moderation and the problem is stacking things can make those things too strong. One slowdown perk is fine, one aura perk is fine, after all these perks are generally balanced in a vacuum so are fine by themselves. Mirror Myers is fine, because you're trading strong info for no real chase/looping ability with limoted lethality.
The problem with Distortion is that it's too good of a counter to that one aura perk that's 'fine on its own' but can be overwhelmed by, you guesed it, stacking 4 aura perks. (It's also mildly problematic for survivors too, if you don't run Distortion and the others do, you're likely to get tunneled)
Distortion should be nerfed a little I think, but in conjunction to some buffs to other aura defence perks. This way survivors have more options besides "you have to run Distortion to survive" and if they want to be completely immune to auras then they have to invest in more than one single perk.
Meanwhile the killer perks that reveal auras the most frequently could also do with a bit of a nerf, so that no single perk can burn through the new nerfed Distortion too quickly. Gear Head and Weave Attunement being the worst offenders I think.
Roll the arms race back a little.
How should Distortion be nerfed?
Change the token recharge condition from "within the terror radius" to "when in chase". This not only means you have to engage with the killer to regain tokens, but it means it serves as a pseudo tunnel counter similar to Off The Record, and it also means you can regain tokens against stealth killers with no terror radius, such as Mirror Myers. This makes it less problematic for both sides; survivors can't hide indefinitely meaning other survivors don't get tunneled, and while you can be more efficient at revealing survivors with Distortion, they regain their stealth after you've engaged with them, allowing you to swap between survivors and avoid tunneling.
Your Distortion change makes too much sense. That’s why it won’t happen.
-
Gutting Distortion is a slight buff to weaker killers but a huge buff to Nurse, Blight and Huntress. It’s also barely a nerf to SWF but a huge nerf to solo survivors.
Bhvr does not know how to balance this game. They churn out perks that 90% of them you will never touch again after getting your trophy and the ones that you do want to use the other side will complain about until months or years down the line Bhvr will gut those perks that have become a must equip for a lot of players (usually for good reason).
-
@Peanits said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3797046#Comment_3797046
To clarify, Distortion recharges by being chased. It's not active only while you're being chased.
For example, Distortion can block your aura from being revealed by BBQ, then it deactivates. The next time you're chased, it will reactivate and stay active until it blocks your aura from being revealed again.
Why not just remove the perk? Why center a patch around buffing lesser used perks and then gut a popular one? This is Self Care all over again except you can’t create a build to make Distortion usable.
-
they’ve completely destroyed Distortion and buffed/added more killer aura perks. Awesome!

NO! 😅 Though my streak was broken I finally got The Dark Lord followed by Singularity. You have to wonder if dropping fairly big overhauls for several killers at the same time you release a new killer is maybe not an ideal business strategy. Save it for the mid chapter.

Fact is that weave+Franklin's is remotely good only aganist solos (Bad ones i might add)... I tried that combo once with clown and i was aganist a premade... Useless to say that It was crap, i seriously don't understand why people complain about this combo so much... It's easily counterable and the killer will waste half of their perks for a VERY situational build
Woah you tried it one time? Truly incredible. I guess everybody complaining about it is wrong because you played one game with Clown.

Drop item at start of match, (will probably still be absolutely free with distortion nerf), pick item back up, if you see icon and get oblivious drop the item in a good spot and play the rest of the trial against a killer with 2 perks, countered in 2 seconds with no indication thanks to distortion and has no downside if the killer doesn't have it.
If it can be countered in 2 seconds its frankly not that strong
lol ok. This completely ignores that I’m in solo queue. There’s no way all 3 of my teammates will do that.
