Hello, friend!
Good to see you here in these sad days.

I came here because I heard this place was worse than reddit due to horrible takes and agitators like @Sluzzy so I grabbed popcorn and a seat but I ended up sticking around.
when something big happens, I liked to grab a cup of Tim's while listening to Rick Astley and read what the regulars thought. I can't be around to keep up on discord and even reddit gets buried fast.
I still can't believe this place is dying JUST after the big meet up, like what's up with that?
Unbelievable to think that even these iconic discussions will be deleted, isn't it?

Funny timing, I just watched Thor:Ragnarok last night so I can appreciate the meme even more now
I honestly forgot it was there lmao. I dare say it was accurate at the time.

Honestly, I think one of my favorite moments was when I offered to take over the game:
@GeneralV said:
Give the game to me, BHVR, and I will save it!
Just do it!
You have done quite enough already...let the General take it from here.
Vote GeneralV for Dead by Daylight's owner!
It is very silly, I know. But this was during the NFT scandal, and things weren't going well. Being able to have a more cheerful, hopeful discussion like a light at the end of the tunnel really meant a lot to me.

To be honest, if the forums were archived, it would be evidence of the amount of ideas that were sourced from the community, criticisms that were predicted yet ignored, ideas that were altered away from their original intentions, and so on. It represents both the game's history and evidence of how we got there along the way. If they cared enough to keep that information, they wouldn't be shutting down the forum in the first place. I wouldn't have much to say on the topic if it wasn't for how disrespectful it is to all of the contributions, tributes, and community it fostered over the years. The entire thing reeks of a detatched executive decision.
Like the burning of books, in a way.

I will still be commenting here. But I will remember you usually when facing freddy I might think it's you 😆.
Hahaha.
Well, my friend, keep your eyes open for any Freddies or Skull Merchants you run into. One of them might be me.
-
Great work, friend!
-
It is just insulting that the Forums won't even be archived.
But I suppose it is not surprising. After so many complaints over the years about our feedback never being taken into consideration, all of said feedback will be deleted, instead of remaining available for the future.
It is the final humiliation.
-
Very important reminder.
-
It is good to see you here, dear friend! Wish it was under better circumstances.
-
It is a tough choice between Freddy, Skull Merchant, and Mikaela.
The crown goes to Freddy, but the other two aren't far behind.

Through all the wonderful conversations and ideas to some of the most stupid ideas and concepts ever had. Will miss the forums :(
Same, friend, I will miss this place.

@Skillfulstone said:
I'll miss most people here too. Apart from a few bad apples, conversations were much more stable and civil here than in other social platforms.
Discord isn't meant for large-scale discussion like that, and it's even harder to moderate, and getting doxxed on Discord over disagreements is already a thing known to happen.
Reddit is a toxic cesspool of trolls and spam, basically no conversations last more than a few replies before veering completely off-topic. Not to mention the fact that relevant topics and feedback get buried by spam and complain-threads in record time.
Steam forums is a nothing-burger that doesn't have a lot of consistent and dedicated users. It's not as toxic as Reddit (it's hard to be) but there won't be known figures and "forum events" that stay remembered for long.
I won't create accounts just to move to platforms that I won't want to use for anything else, I guess that like many others, it's the last place I'll interact with the community outside of the game
Well said, friend.
-
Nope.
DBD Reddit I think is awful, I left the DBD Discord server the day I joined because of how much of a mess it was, and I only checked Steam Forums for bug fixes and stuff like that.

GeneralIV: the most prolific supporter of the old Freddy (I still miss that Freddy despite being more or less fine since the last rework).
Thank you, friend <3
Old Freddy was the reason I joined the Forums in the first place, and now that this Forum is ending I can proudly say that he still is my favorite of all time.

yeah but surely there will be a space in the game where the mods can be used/tested first? Would be interesting if thats actually free for all somehow or restricted to custom lobbies.
I actually have no idea how other Games implement stuff like that in PvP modes
Oh yes, for sure. Custom Games, I imagine.

Knows you like original freddy. They add a modding gamemode teasing you can possibly change around abilities. Very interesting. Lol.
Hahaha, well that certainly would be fun.
Obviously the licensed characters will have restrictions, but Freddy's license holders approved that power originally, so we never know.
Maybe.
But if Freddy won't be possible to tweak like that, Skull Merchant certainly will be. Either way, I'm happy.
@Mooks said:
This can go in any direction but i am looking for ward to it!
This will probably not affect regular matched but restricted to its own Mode or custom games right? Not entirely, Cote did say in the post-show interview with Slasher Radio that there won't be any rules keeping them from, with the proper credit, adding user-created stuff to the base game.

I'm hoping for a custom game creation system, akin to what Overwatch has. People made entirely new gameplay systems within it.
Being able to drag and drop tiles to make a functional new map, then sharing that, would be great. TF2's best and most balanced maps came from hobbyist mappers and were eventually incorporated into the game officially. DBD getting the same treatment would sure be something.Yes, both of those would be great! I hope individual character customization goes even further than what Overwatch has.

Ruin alone is a big no no tho. With how long the game is out there not knowing totem spawns is not an excuse, ruin alone should last max 40 seconds into the match if the team has more than 100 hours combined.
Excluding you go directly to protect the totem, in which case people can just slam gens.
I guarantee you can easily get a game where Ruin lasts more than 40 seconds.

DC penalties don’t actually discourage people from disconnecting. Increasing the penalty time won’t address the real reasons players choose to DC in the first place. The community has latched onto “entitlement” as the catch‑all explanation, but that oversimplifies the issue and ignores the underlying problems that drive players to disconnect.
Very true.
I once had an actual discussion about it in here, with the objective of understanding why people DC in the first place. My conclusion is that it was all caused by gradual worsening of the survivor experience over time, and increasing penalties won't solve that.

I'd agree with this, definately prefer this over other builds we've recieved over time.
Indeed, my friend, it was peak.
-
One of those old builds from back in the day with Ruin + BBQ every single game, plus a chase perk and something else.
Healthiest killer meta we've ever had.
-
I feel like DBD is at its best when games take longer than they do rn, because it gives both sides a chance to make their plays without having to worry about maximum efficiency every single time.
-
With things the way they are, it has to be Myers.
They straight up killed any fun he had and made him an actual, genuine dashlop. It is frankly an insult.
-
Well done, my friend, congrats <3
-
-The Endgame Collapse is a horrible mechanic and should be removed from the game.
-No iteration of Freddy was weak enough to be considered the weakest killer in the game.
-Skull Merchant was perfect after her first rework.
-Old DBD was a superior game to modern DBD, regardless of which metric you use to compare the two.
-
Hopefully it is a bug, because there is really no reason to get rid of one of the few "techs" in the game which isn't an exploit or unintended feature.

It's okay to be wrong.
I can literally say the exact same thing to you, that is hardly an argument.
If you wish to discuss this matter, at least present an actual point.

Been have BEEN complaining about ranged attacks, why are you acting like it's all of a sudden a new thing lmao. Do we not remember the discourse around springtrap?
Exactly.

Shouldn't have been a projectile killer.

I understand where you're coming from yet it's like this. If Jason were to have a multitude of powers, where does it cross the line for being borderline strong or weak? If he had a projectile, bear traps, rage mechanic, and teleport then all his powers would have to be evenly distributed. You also have to look at simplicity and complexity sake. Who is the audience they go for?
I'm not sure how anyone could balance something like this. It would be another Xenomorph situation all over again and I'd rather not have games where survivors disconnect or give up like they do against the Ghoul.
I'm satisfied he can teleport and break dropped pallets. And I could always dedicate a build by using endurance, spirit fury and whatever breaks pallets faster.
I understand what you are saying, but it is very much possible.
Both Dracula and Vecna exist just fine, they both received their fair share of balance changes, for sure, but they are both in good spots these days. They could have done the same for Jason.
F13th is my second favorite horror franchise, and I loved the F13th game, so having Jason Voorhees being nothing more than projectile slop is incredibly disheartening.
You would think I would be prepared for disappointment after all these years, but I wanted to have fun with a character I hold dear.
I really, really wanted him to be fun.

@UberJason said:

I disagree. Mainly because he used a variety of weapons as projectiles as the survivors tries to flee from him. Friday the 13th Part VIII had him throwing an axe at Lazarus. He used spearguns and harpoons in Part III and Part VIII. He also used throwing knives.
It fits imho.
Sure, range fits him more than Springtrap, but it still shouldn't be a primary ability.
Compare the number of ranged kills with the number of melee kills within any movie except Part V since Roy doesn't count for the discussion. It could have been there, but as an extra.
Think of the game, it is a good example. You had throwing knives and bear traps, but unlike your primary abilities, those wouldn't come back. There were a limited amount of them, with knives scattered across the map, and bear traps restricted to your starting amount. Sense, Shift, Morph, Rage, and Stalk, were your effective powers, and I would have preferred something based on that feel of relentless pursuit and stealth than a projectile slop be the primary tool you are using.
I'm incredibly disappointed.
-
All of that is fine, but I do have an issue with the projectile.
It shouldn't be there, and if it has to be it should be one of many abilities, like Dracula or Vecna, where it is an extra.
Straight up projectile slop, once again. As if Springtrap wasn't enough of a slap to the face.
-
No.
Straight up projectile slop. Again.
Now, I must admit that I wanted for Jason is largely a copy from the F13th game. And granted, he had a projectile there, but those were not only an extra when compared to his other powers, but they were also limited. You could run out of them, especially in longer games.
I didn't want projectile as a primary ability at all. It is unfortunate, but I won't play him.
-
I NEED a Jason Part 4 cosmetic.
He is my favorite version of Jason in both the movies and the F13th game.
-
I would be happy if they just copied the Friday the 13th game.
-
@Astel said:
That is cool but what would be his possible power though? Only thing I can imagine is throwing machete or something like that
I would like them to copy the Friday the13th game. Just straight up copy it.
His power was excellent there.
-
Thank the stars! After the long, LONG wait, it is the license I wanted most!
-
Genuinely the worst stream in DBD's history, this is awful.
-
This "reveal" stream is awful so far.
-
I really hope to be proven wrong, but as of the moment I'm writing this comment, this is the worst reveal in the history of DBD.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/467439/slugging-is-out-of-control
Have you thought about maybe considering the reason that killers are slugging rather than just immediately going to "we need to get basekit mechanics to counter it"?
There isn't a reason.
Every time we have a discussion like this, an excuse comes up. Fast Track, survivors "weaponizing" anti-tunnel perks even though you are never forced to chase someone who just got unhooked, and the list goes on and on endlessly.
There is no excuse. Slugging, and I don't mean slugging once or twice to avoid a pallet save or a flashlight save, I mean as a playstyle, happens simply because it is effective, especially against solo queue.
It doesn't help that the most powerful anti-slugging tools either require set up or have a limited use. At least the abandon feature lets you get out of what certainly was a miserable game.
DBD needs some form of basekit anti-slug. It doesn't have to be the exact same thing as we had before, but it needs to happen.
-
I think DBD itself has a problem with Wesker.
I know not many will agree, but in my honest opinion Wesker has one of the worst, most poorly designed kits in the game, if not the worst. I think he is extremely unfun to go against, and I would be happy to never play against him again.

@MechWarrior3 said:
It can still be useful and a good time waster. Survivors have to waste time playing fetch if they want their item unless if you’re the rare type of player like @GeneralV that never brings in an item. 🤣
No need to bring item when you can always loot chests!

Agreed, however even if he was just a regular m1 killer and nobody played him as long as he exists in game that is fine?
Yes.
I mean, I would prefer if they gave him an interesting power, no dash-slop nor projectile, but having him in the game with a bad power is better than not having him.
