Handcuffing players to play a game is a very big red flag.
Just balance the game so both sides feel like they have an opportunity to win. The game is too easy for killers and survivors have no hope to win. You'll see way less survivors ditching a match if they have a chance to win.
-
Change for the sake of change or to appease only one side is not exactly good for the longevity of the game. The game is not accessible to new players to replace the veterans because survivor is simply way too hard because of all the nerfs.

You are completely oblivious and ignorant to how harmful flashlight click is to those with epilepsy and photosensitivity. As well as to how this is more than a small step for DBD and it goes beyond that.
Within the real world, people with disabilities and issues are often left in the dark because people do not want to help bridge the gaps that create the common barrier to entries we see. It takes people coming together and applying Universal Design (UD) to different core subjects and providing alternatives that work for everyone.
Something as simple as ramp accessibility means a lot yet you see stuff like that missing from most places.
Gaming is the one place where people go to distract themselves from the struggle of the real world, and a lot of people with disabilities use it as a comfort area. (e.g. People with autism or ADHD typically tend to cling towards games and media for self expression, comfort, and entertainment.)
Within the gaming sphere, developers (not just BHVR) are working to incorporate UD to make gaming more accessible to everyone, so people can use games to escape the issues of reality and deal with stress/anxiety, etc.
It does not matter at all about if flashlight clicking is iconic or not to the game. What matters is making the game more accessible for all and providing a wider sense of home and community for everyone. Reducing the barriers to entry so everyone can thrive, because the only thing holding them back from doing as much as anyone else are those barriers. It's a small step in a series of small steps to elevate the game for everyone.
No. It is user responsibility. Flashing lights are staple in all games. This is changing one specific item for alternate reasons because you have Clown, Doctor, and maps with a lot of flashing lights. Lery's Institute has some rooms with extremely bright flashing lights. The animated lights add atmosphere to the game.
Yes I feel bad for people with disability. Flash Lights, a survivor item, was specifically targeted. Flashlights were already changed so they are not bright to the killer when blinded.

One of the few times the community actually ignores negative posts and immaturity is ironically at one of the worst times to do it.
I feel like people are really downplaying how people have been acting in regards to this change, not just the forums, since it's so sad to see people act so negative towards such a good change for the game.
How is removing a feature (characteristic) that people have enjoyed and associated with DBD all these years being removed good for the game? At a time when people are definitely not enjoying survivor, this is the worst thing you can do.

The fact that "it's been in the game for years" doesn't provide any evidence for either motive.
If they just wanted to change them to "buff killers" (not even sure how it's a killer buff) then they also could have done it years ago.
I feel there's been a massive shift in the devs. They are not the same devs as in 2016-2018 which would have never nerfed flashlights. Some of the old devs are gone anyway. Everything is about buffing killer at the expensive of survivor fun. At this point, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the brown medkit is nerfed for some weird reason.
But, It's perfectly fine Huntress can down someone with a single hatchet, Pig can start everyone with a head trap, or Wesker can start everyone infected but lets nerf everything survivors have.
-
The removal of the clicking and the way the flashlights worked will make them undoubtedly and without a doubt less fun to use. I don't think DBD needs that right now. Survivors have already been packing their bags and leaving from what I can see.

Your forum roleplay of "I say everything about killer is OP" is getting old already, when are you stopping?
When killers stop begging for ridiculous buffs.
-
Most games have flashing lights. That just goes with the sport. It should be user responsibility on whether to play games.
It would be like a person with heart failure trying to play sports. Ruining the games fun factor by forcing all players to walk to allow heart failure players to engage would be a good analogy.
-
A stealth killer that teleports all around the map with potential mori doesn't need buffs.
Your expectations are way too high for a killer.

That’s right - nobody ever escapes 🙄
I played 4 matches earlier. One was Huntress with a mori that tunneled. 2 were 4Ks with 2 and 3 gens remaining. One was a 3K. Never seen a game as difficult as survivor.
-
I think what happens is that with killer it is very very easy to increase your MMR because of how the game is overwhelmingly unfavorable to survivors. The only survivors that are increasing MMR are those playing in a 4 man SWF that has no life because the game demands that much skill from survivors to even play toe to toe with a killer.
Killer is extremely easy to win so your MMR increases, even new killers have the game in their advantage. MMR will never work until killers are nerfed and survivors are buffed (easier to finish gens).
-
Killers are too oppressive. Survivors don't stand a chance unless killers are just bad at the game or they are the 4 best survivors on the planet.

Spoken like someone who's never played a single killer match. It's easier to recover from mistakes as survivor, because there are four survivors.
If the killer spends 2 seconds kicking a gen, four survivors can spend 8 seconds working on gens.
Each second of a killer's time, is worth 4 seconds of survivor time. A killer's time is much more crucial and has to be spent well. And there are no other killers in the game to help you recover from your mistakes 🤯
You can't assume all four must play absolutely perfectly. Only one mistake by only one survivor can cost the entire team to lose. A killer can make up for their mistake by camping and tunneling and can always come back from a bad start because their objective is just simply easier.
You can't say 2 seconds of killer time is like 8 seconds of survivors working on gens because survivors have a thousand things to do. You have to find gens, save teammates, find totems. There's even killer perks that prevent survivors from working on gens such as Corrupt, Dead Man's Switch, and Eruption. Guess what the killer is doing when survivors can't do anything? Easily downing a survivor and getting even more pressure. Survivors are a bad disadvantage and it is why so many aren't playing because nobody wants to play an unwinnable role.

Not being fun dosnt mean it's overpowered. Slugging for the most part just makes the game longer and usually just dosnt work. Slugging for the 4k is a good strat, Slugging with 3 or 4 survivors left will mostly nonpay off. If you are able to down 3 or 4 survivors that requires some skill and it should be rewarded, not taken away but bk unbreakable
If it was a weak strategy so many wouldn't do it. A blight traveling across the map putting everyone on the floor just seems a little too easy for one player.
-
Overpowered strategies need to be dealt with, BHVR is simply not addressing them fast enough. It took way too long to address slugging. One of the last matches I played was a Blight all he did was slug everyone. It's not fun.
-
@CosmicScarab said:

Killers cannot always just come back with strategies. Against good survivors, especially SWFs you are sometimes just screwed depending on who you are playing or what the survivors are running. Also, survivors suicide on hook for a lot more than just feeling a match is unwinnable. I've had people suicide on the first hook of the game more times than I could count.
Maybe not always but a majority of the time. There is no opportunity for survivors to come back from a bad start unless the killer simply screws up royally. If someone goes down within 15 seconds of the match starting, then you can pretty much know already the match is a goner. Survivors need a gen or two done before someone is hooked because the killer gets so much pressure from someone being hooked or slugged.
-
Hook suicide is a symptom of an unbalanced game. Killers can always come back from a bad start with strategies, survivors don't have a way to come back. If survivors feel the match is unwinnable, it is why they suicide.

That is one region, Europe. I am under the impression that Europe is an important market for BHVR, or not?
Furthermore, if the bloodpoint incentive was just one time, it would be a random event. But it is every evening now, for 3 or 4 evenings, from 9 pm to 11 pm. It is in low MMR, where I live, and in high MMR. I can see it watching killer streamers.
And the game is broken for survivors. Pick your favorite killer streamer in high MMR (unless you are in high MMR) and write down some informations: how many victories, how many 0k, 1k, 2k, 3k and 4k does he achieve. How many bloodpoints does the high mmr killer streamer gain, and so on. Please post me these information to prove your point that the killer is OP. Thank you.
All regions are important. North America is just as important there is a lack of survivors if anything.
I've watched all the killer streamers and they win all the time. Survivor streamers are usually losing.

As I proved with the screenshot, every evening in Europe killers get the 100% bonus. Survivors have to wait for lobbys. So tell me about shortage. And the 61% kill rate is a number without worth, the 12% difference from high to low MMR is.
BHVR should post the numbers for 4k in low MMR, for 4k in high MMR, the numbers for swf and solo q in low MMR and high MMR, and so on.
That's one specific area and who knows why, maybe all the killer mains teams up on SWF after winning all day as killer.
In North America, it is 100% survivor bonus about 99% of the day. I've only seen a 50% killer bonus one or two times and it immediately goes back to survivor. The game is broken in favor of killer.
Are you wanting 4Ks all the time even at high MMR? 4Ks should be rare, it shouldn't be so normal for killers to 4K all the time. How would you feel if survivors 4E, normally?

Killers got a fake buff. Survivor got a basekit buff, and now they want another basekit buff. Players should stop playing killers. I stopped playing Killer a long time ago (with the exception of a few games that were necessary for Rift, but I've always regretted it). Playing Killer is not fun, playing Survivor is much more fun. So have fun with your 10 minute lobbies while waiting for a killer to play with you. I've been there, I've seen those times.
It can't be a fake buff even if you look at stats. It took a leap to 61% killrates. I can definitely feel it in games, it is very hard to make distance from the killer now. Survivors are going down quickly with not many options.
There's not a shortage of killers.

STBFL built in
The absurd implication that measly 2 stacks (i think it's even lower than 2) is "SBTFL built in". Stop exaggerating.
Gens taking longer
In practice, survivors rush gens even more now, so the real difference is negligible if even existent. Lots of good regression perks and gen slowdown perks were nerfed too. So just saying 10+ seconds without taking the whole patch into context and reality of games is ignorant.
Killers have been getting perks base-kit for years
What? I am still waiting for the so-called "early game collapse" 😚 Any moment now...
Survivors have not gotten any until now because BHVR is finding the game is not balanced and survivors are leaving.
Are you seriously implying that survivors were getting worse treatment over the years until now? It took 5 years to nerf DH, most maps are survivor-sided, DS was meta for god knows how long, infinites, instant flashlight saves, the list goes on and on... They literally nerfed DH, and still made it strong. They nerfed DS and still added DS 2.0 (off the record). And in a few weeks' time, they massively buffed base kit BT, and are now planning to add base kit unbreakable. The so-called "killer patch" didn't even last a month lol.
In all honesty, I feel like 6.10 wasn't even the goal of buffing killers, it was more of "let's change the meta so the game feels fresh, but continue following the same direction and make the same mistakes afterwards in subsequent patches". It was a bluff, the game will feel the same very soon as it was in pre-patch. They're already back-tracking on some of the changes they've made.
Not exaggerating. Increasing the killer animations on everything is almost a game breaking change. Survivors don't make as much of a distance after a hit which is not necessarily game breaking but it is too much of a buff for killers.
Yes, only a couple of gen regression perks were "slightly" nerfed but then other gen regression perks were massively buffed.
What did survivors get? No Dead Hard replacement. No Iron Will replacement. No Decisive Strike Replacement. DS couldn't be exploited like Off the Record. It doesn't punish tunneling which is why there are so many more tunnelers now.
Survivors have been nerfed since the game came out while killers have been constantly buffed. I don't see that much back tracking, they still haven't reverted the gens back to 80 seconds or the other killer buffs. It is so easy for killers to down all the survivors, they have got to add a way for survivors to get back up. Killers don't have these issues.
-
Killers got an overwhelming basekit buff last patch when gen taking much longer, STBFL built-in. Killers have been getting perks base-kit for years and survivors have not gotten any until now because BHVR is finding the game is not balanced and survivors are leaving.
Killers are more than OK.
-
Otzdarva is a little more proof the game is killer sided. He mostly plays fair as well with that percentage.

Slugging itself is underpowered. You need a good reason to slug, since you're skipping your winprogress. You need even more winprogress in return, which rarely happens. And if it happens, it shouldnt take 45s to achieve.
It is annoying to get slugged for 4 mins, so im cool with that
Slugging can bypass your winprogress and prevent survivors from doing theirs. When one is slugged, the others have to stop doing gens. That obliterates solo queue. Another bad problem with slugging is denying the opportunity for hatch. Majority of killers slugs the 3rd survivor and prevents any opportunity for the fourth to get the hatch. That is not fair.
-
Put yourself on the other side, it is far greater abuse being left on the floor being incapacitated. Slugging was overpowered.
-
I have always found Huntress unfair to verse. Large hitboxes, 5 hatchets, ability to hold hatchets waiting for opportune hits. You don't see her so much for nothing.
-
Survivors have actually been crapped on for 6 years.
This is more like a QOL change more than anything. I don't think the devs ever intended on killers to slug everyone on the ground all the time, it also removes the chance for someone to get the hatch which the killer shouldn't straight up deny because he wanted to. It is not fun to be incapacitated on the floor.
Killers are still very OP so winning a majority of matches will still happen, you just have to actually hook people like you should have been doing all along.
-
@Ghoste said:
Tunneling will become even more prevalent with slugging out of the picture. But idk, doesn't base-kit DS seem overkill when Survivors are already getting base-kit Unbreakable?
A survivor is hopeless if the killer tunnels only one person, then the others can't finish the objective. It isn't overkill considering how much killers have been buffed. Imagine 3 survivors having to do 2 or more gens that are 90 seconds long with probable gen regression too.

Survivors are only losing in low MMR. If you are up against a good team of high MMR survivors or even just a SWF that is coordinated you will see that survivors don't actually have it that bad, its purely low MMR that brings the kill rate up so high.
It could be bad killers.

"very small changes"?
Seriously?
Even you have to admit that these are big changes.
There is not very much hope in matches any more. Killers have been buffed to where most survivors have no chance at all to win. Solo is unplayable. They are small in that they address only the slugging part, but for the most part survivors will still be losing.
-
I hope you are joking. They had to do something, at least a little, to help as survivors were leaving in masses. It would have been good if they rolled back some of the killer buffs but at least base-kit unbreakable is something. Slugging was too strong and boring. Killers are still grossly overpowered even with these very small changes.
-
Good. Slugging was overpowered and it was very boring to be slugged for a long time while the killer looked for the 4th person.
Killers that abused slugging will have to play the game now and actually hook people.
-
You'll hardly see the incentive for killer because survivors is the worst side to play. Very disadvantaged with the killer being overpowered making playing as survivor extremely unfair and unbalanced.
-
A new mechanic that causes survivors to trip and fall when exhausted.
-
@shalo said:
BHVR has made it very clear that swf survival rates have "little to no discernable difference compared to solo players" so of course they're balancing around swf and solo.
They are balancing around VERY high SWF. The majority of SWF are not very sweaty and are casually playing the game. This is why their stats are misleading. There was another thread about how stats are a huge lie and it is because the top percent that plays so much in a sweaty SWF might actually be escaping a little more than half the time which increases the survival rates to an abysmal 39%. Everyone else based on my best guess has about a 10-15% chance of winning.
They are actually have the game balanced around bad killers = SWF. Solos only win when the killer makes tons of mistakes, doesn't tunnel, plays nicely, and gives everyone 2 hooks. People that say solos are capable of winning. You have to look at how bad the killer is. Survivor skill is meaningless.

Laurie knows how one sided the game is.
-
The beginning of the match is really the only chance for survivors to try and get a gen done because a bad start for survivors is always a win for the killer. Lethal Pursuer should have never been added because all it does give killers like Blight to turn the game over on its head so an unwinnable match becomes even more unwinnable.
-
Myers was released when survivors were insanely stronger. Despite survivors being nerfed over and over until they can barely run, killers like Myers have remained the same. His addon used to be difficult to pull off because survivors actually had plenty of pallets, darker maps, actually working perks that helped with survival.
Myer's addon that allows ability to kill is equivalent to the then-released brand new part where you could finish a complete gen is one tap. Myers needs to be nerfed. An insta-down killer along with ability to bypass 2 full hook phases is the best example of P2W I have ever seen.
If a survivor had something this strong it would have already been dealt with.

I don't get how people don't understand simple math... the BP bonus on survivor doesn't mean "nobody wants to play Survivor". Legit it's a 4:1 ratio. Survivor should always have it cause it needs more people... You can have 40,000 Survivors playing and 11,000 Killers and the BP bonus would STILL be on survivor. How is that "Nobody playing Survivor!" when there is nearly 4 TIMES the amount of people playing Survivor as Killer?
I'm sorry your bad and your MMR is low so you get stuck with other bad players. Stop throwing excuses for you losing.
I think you are making an excuse for the game always paying survivors to play the game.
The game is completely broken in favor of killer and survivors are leaving the game. Nobody wants to play an insufferable match and lose to overpowered killers all the time.

U know that DBD is not a competetive game, right? Its a casual game.
By the way: It takes no skill to press W, hold a button (Left-Mouse) and press Spacebar sometimes.
Are we sure though? I would say it should be casually competitive. There is two sides with a clear objective and failing to do either objective results in a loss. There is a MMR matchmaking in place.
That is like saying there is no skill to play football. All you have to do is run sometimes, throw the ball, catch the ball. I would say it takes a tremendous amount of skill, especially with all the things you have to think about.
Killers shouldn't have an extra advantage to win. It is not fair at all.
-

60-65% is balanced.
Also keep in mind that u should take a look on every killer on its own. While survivors are all the same (basically), every killer is unique and should be looked at differently.
Please name any sports or any competitive game where one side has an inflated chances of winning?
Why play a game/match if you know your skill has way less weight than your opponent? It makes winning and losing way less meaningful.
-
"he stoped trying to winstreak with Wesker after being sent to Eyre of crow, with a team that had 3 commodious toolboxes with 3 bnps and a purple medikit."
So because a killer main is not able to have a non-stop winstreak he finds it not fun? There is a reason survivors are quitting the game because killers are entitled to win every single game and the game is giving it to them now.
Message to all killer mains and streamers: Getting a 4K should actually be rare, you are not supposed to noob stomp every team with ease. If it is happening, it means something is bad wrong with the balance of the game. Whenever I watched Otz, he wins all the time. Shouldn't be a thing. There is two sides to the game and both sides deserve fair and equal chances at winning.

Sounds like a skill issue.
Perhaps the killers they are versing are babies. Besides, if it takes a perfect 4 man SWF to have a chance to win, it means the game is broken. There is way more killer mains that never lose than there are survivors. Most survivors I see are always losing.

It's not going to stop and it's not rage-quiting. People are DCing and suiciding on hook because they believe the game is hopeless. That 61% kill rate that killers are getting is negatively reinforcing survivor players to hate the game. It's classical Pavlovian psychological conditioning.
It's the exact opposite of what games like Diablo do, where they use positive reinforcement, getting new items, to condition people to like the game.
Video games has used psychology for years, but I think this is the first time I've seen it used to make people hate the game, lol.
The most accurate post in this thread.
What really blows my mind is people are playing a game with such a disadvantage. I think part of the problem is an overwhelming majority of the players want to play killer and those playing survivor finding the role completely impossible to win as and so they bail because of no hope in the match. I still play survivor for the hell of it, but for the life of me it is a psychological quest to determine what possesses someone to play in a video game with no hope to win or have fun losing.
Even before the tremendously killer sided patch, killers still had the advantage but BHVR giving a huge middle finger to the survivor playerbase and then gloating about it with 61% is downright rude.
The developers are not ashamed to have a game where: Killers are playing a power fantasy role and gloating their developers are embracing it while survivors are suffering something unimaginable because they want to play a game but can't find it enjoyable. This game deserves a topic in a psychology research to study why humans would subject themselves to suffer with survivor.

let me get this straight a 4 v 1 AND SOMEHOW THAT"S UNFAIR?
6 years those 4 players have been a power role and now that killers are being actual killers and not play things, that's unfair and unbalanced
and let me remind you of something
killers have to do : gen pressure, chasing survivors, mindgaming, dealing with boons, dealing with bad maps, dealing with shack, hitting gens and dying inside when the survivors pats the gen and removes the regression, dealing with body blocking, aim their power if they have any
Survivors have to do : Do gens, rescue, heal, do a 360 and think u are good when in realize auto aim is what's causing the killer to miss and optionally cleanse a dull totem or boon it, find a chest IF THEY WANT, and open the door, escape a chase which in some maps is easy, hexes which are suppose to punish those 4 players have the worst spawns so nobody even uses them, even noed is rare these days
and don't even get me started on every killer powers, i mean what's ghostfaces gonna do in a chase to catch up to lithe or sprint burst NOTHING
but no clearly that's so unfair and unfun and so unbalanced
if this was a 4v 4 it would make sense but a 4 v 1 don't even tell me one side shouldn't have a bit more advantage
not everyone is a nurse and not everyone is blight, and a lot of killers suffer thanks to maps, and people dc because they are sore losers, i had people dc while im playing trapper on Yamaoka estate, one of the biggest map and i was playing nicely, BUT CLEARLY THAT"S TOO OP to even PREDICT where survivors run and put traps in there RIGHT?
All of those things you mentioned for the killer is simply part of a single task. Mindgaming? That's simply chasing a survivor. The survivor has to also mindgame but it is harder for the survivor because you have to always react to what the killer is going to do, and is always moving faster and variable speeds. Don't forget killer is rewarded for playing badly on top of the already having the advantage in chase: Bloodlust!
Why should a single person versing 4 have a much easier and less tasks to do that the other side comprising of 4? Why does the killer win when all 5 are playing at about the same level?
The 4 survivors requires a PHD in DBD school for all 26+ killers. Why is it fair for survivors to be at an inherent disadvantage at every single level on top of requiring learning how to play against all of those killers? Every killer player has to only learn one survivor because survivors have no abilities, only weak perks that turn off at the killer's convenience. Killer perks are way stronger.
Not only do survivors have to finish extremely and painfully long 90 sec gens, they have to save teammates, be proficient at running the killer with bloodlust, loot chests to be able to heal since self-care is horrible, find hex totems, bless totems, open gates, heal teammates, and so much more.
People DC because the game is unfair and unbalanced. The game is too hard for survivor to win while not requiring the same amount of effort from killer. This shouldn't be that hard to understand.
-
I would say it is a bad perk and doesn't punish camping. It requires another teammate to come up and actually get in arms reach of the killer to activate. Someone has to stop working on a gen to activate it. What if it is a Bubba? Good luck using Reassurance.
That's why it is not played much.
-
@AcelynnBen said:
so you are telling me that it's suppose to be a 50~50

yea no chief
and quick reminder 80% of the killers suck
Why should one person have an inherent winning advantage in a video game?
Survivors shouldn't be oppressed fodder for a single person wanting to role play a power fantasy.
There is a reason people are quitting survivor because the game is unfair and unfun.
