I must live in a weird bubble... I don't see many campers. Every once in a while sure, but not with the frequency people seem to find them.
What rank are you at?
Against freddy, wake up first, then go for the save.
In general, do gens to pressure the killer to leave.
I encountered over 120 within a 16 hour period, it cause me to derank to rank 15 until I changed my build.

There's times where I have taken a break from playing and then come back but it's reaching a point where I just don't really feel like playing anymore. I mainly play survivor and I feel like it would be nice if another objective would be added or a different game mode.
Yeah we get new chapters but quite frankly it's more entertaining for killer mains because killers are actually play different, but survivors are essentially the same person just different perks. We (whoever mains survivor) usually get 2 ######### perks and 1 decent one that would later get nerfed so it's like... why am I buying this chapter again? lol
Anyone else got some input or feels similar?
change your build and playstyle. do some wacky challenges. Have you tried no mend legion? Never mend against a legion. Do pallet toss against Huntress. Do hide and seek with Pig and yeet into random lockers to distract.

I legitimately deranked from red to yellow in a day without dcing or instadying once. It was horrifying and somewhat amazing.

Yeah, you can say this about every game.
But in DBD's case ,the potential is much much higher than your average multiplayer game.
The only reason people stick around,Behaviour, even after all the wrong decisions you made is due to Dead By Daylight's concept.
I don't know if you realize what you've created.
A special,particular,unique game.
DBD seriously has the potential to become a gem in the gaming industry.
Many have tried to replicate your project and all of them have failed.
So why cant you realize what you have?
You're holding a mine full of gold in your hands and you're ruining it because you'd rather stick around the surface instead of going deeper.
Behaviour,developing a game isnt easy.
Issues are to be expected.
However,too many mistakes are unacceptable.
I KNOW you can do better.
Yes,veterans are still gonna play your game even if you make 3000 mistakes.
But we will never see DBD shine if you keep going on like this.
The faces of Behaviour are all friendly and nice, and you can tell they really like their job.
However, whatever strategy you're using for developing the game is currently not working.
Something must change.
Stop holding back Dead By Daylight.
you provided no actual feedback and just trashed the Devs. I have many criticisms about this game, but I actually see the work the Devs put into this game and it's heartbreaking. This game has had to get a completely different engine to accommodate it's changes and the devs are still having to fix it. They just barely got dedicated servers and they work far better than I was expecting and they are working on cross platform play. The devs are doing their best we just need to be a less shittier community to them and to each other. They are listening to feedback, but these things take time. They have so many projects and things behind schedule that it's really evident that the archives was a rushed system. The fact that they have a new chapter coming so soon shows how much content they are releasing for this game. We still have the Nun to look forward to after this chapter and map overhauls.

I mean, the games fun but like I definitely dont feel like it cares that I am playing it. I think last year is gonna make a comeback
not even close man, the devs have dropped it almost a year now and it barely held a community after it's beta. It was also in a horrible balance problem right off the bat because they made killers too strong while simultaneously giving survivors too many broken tools to counter them meaning it was incredibly unfun for casuals or team focused players. Plus it felt like a L4D clone with the spawn in playstyle and survivors able to beat up and shoot the killer. DBD actually has a fair balance compared to other asymmetrical games where yes the killer can be bullied by survivors but they can counter build to what the survivors plan to do and can bring an ebony mori or map offering to put the game towards their favor.

And even if that was intended to begin with, they still changed it before it went live, just didn't change it correctly.
nothing about these archives shows any level of thought or practicality or even decent reward for the grind. It's hilariously incompetent and it's probably single handedly ruined survivor expectations for these challenges and that's bad when you can't even get people motivated to grind. I mean killers are complaining about the NOED challenge and that's way at the end, survivors have an impossible challenge right at the beginning of this dumb thing. The whole reason they put this thing out was to sell battlepasses and there's no decent rewards on survivor end. I can't understand BHVRs logic on this at all if they keep frustrating survivors both with lack of cosmetics and gimmicky challenges we're just gonna get bored and the player count will drop 10-20k like it does frequently. I never recommend this game to anyone and I feel like I play it because I'm an idiot, F13 and Last Year are dead and Soul at Stake looks like a playstation game and I don't fully trust Chinese games.
-
It's "bugged" but I think it was always intended as per match like every other grindy part of the archives.

I vote Jeff the Killer. Worst fictional serial killer I have ever seen. Has nothing interesting he can do. Looks dumb. Etc.
If we're talking killers that are actually from horror icon material I would say probably The Creeper. Just because flying would not work well in DbD and throwing things has already been done. There's nothing that could be done with him.
creature from the black lagoon. He's the cheesiest of the monsters to the point they made him cheesier in the Land of the Lost.

true, but I'll probably have the darn thing done by then. at this point I'm just "trash talking" killers and telling them how boring they are for playing the way they choose so and inside they probably agree. The worst thing to tell anyone is that they are incredibly boring and typical in their thoughts and actions and I can't think of anything more accurate to describe high rank killers.

it's cool dude, survivors act scummy all the time, I've had to do some bad stuff for these Archives. I'm working on the Hope one right now and using up all my haddonfield map offerings and purple toolboxes :/ and I'm still getting tunneled and having survivors dc I'm able to babysit more legacy players though.

As in title, Im just glad they did, I still think that challenges should be grindy though. The problem with some of these was that they were RNG based, no skill, nothing. Pure RNG, but as time passes Im sure they'll get the hang of it, and make less frustrating challenges. Overall, pretty good job BHVR (unironically for once :P)
some of these require heavy amounts of "skill". Do you know how hard it is to sandbag a genrushing teammate so you can get them injured/hooked and farm them? Incredibly hard at red ranks especially with as many soft camp tunnel killers there are. It's legit just easier to hope for some dcs and a farming match or a quicker 4k to a decent match. I think the biggest reason why they caved is that it's more than likely going to affect battle pass sales. If people can't use the archives to grind the tome faster and people are playing garbage due to the grind it's hard to sell skins and other stuff and players are generally unhappy.

You mean where you run across the map and the jerkoff waits until you're five feet away and uses deliverance? Yeah people that do that to me don't get another unhook attempt from me
oh no I unhooked as soon as the killer left and was in the broken status effect from plagues sickness, I actually used it to prevent getting anyone else sick, but the Deliverance effect still sticks so there wasn't much of a point. A team mate did the same thing because we were the only ones infected actually learned an interesting tactic for avoiding plagues throw up if you run at her and crouch walk it's really hard to get hit like Doc's power. I'm really just using deliverance to catch up on achievements that I didn't do previously while grinding for archives.

I really liked the difficulty of Level 3. 1 was just boring and so is Level 3 now. Great!
The only change which was needed was the 2 egc saves and the Bug fix.
I thought they were called "Challenge" for a reason. Thats just sad. I probably have it done in one or two days. :(
Please consider there are Players that want difficult and challenging Challenges!
I already got most of them done they just needed to fix the egc survivor one and maybe reduce the unhook one since it was entirely too grindy with as many dcs we get on average.
-
I was surprised it was a bug, I just assumed it was per match and they didn't word it correctly it really doesn't surprise me with everything else that's grindy on this level.

I think Benevolence Emblems need some kind of nerf or rework. I think survivors are ranking too easy just unhooking and healing which might be skewing the rank system. I think killer rank should be entirely on winning chases, not hooks, not kills, winning chases and or area control because that is really the skill expression of killers.

Yeah, I did the killer path, first. Now I can work backwards from the epilogue node, which is way better than dealing with the "2 unhooks during the EGC" or the broken iri emblem challenges.
I've gotten more than half done and I feel like the devs should reward people who actually completed the challenges and did work arounds. I just got Obsessive done and had to experience the most sweatiest survivors I've ever seen. I've never been so glad to have NOED and Bloodlust dealing with body blocking survivors at an exit gate when I need to mori someone.

I'll just start playing like everyone else and do nothing but unhooks.

No one is suggesting survivors receive "participation trophies" or get rewarded for doing nothing. Ranking up is already far too easy as it is.
I agree, one probably shouldn't be able to pip in a match where they are presented with literally no challenge to overcome, because afk matches aren't a show of skill.
My point was simply that neither survivors nor killers should be punished by the ranking system for completing their objective efficiently. In survivors' case, the problem is the Benevolence emblem, in which it is only possible to get points if one's teammates make mistakes.
in a way they kind of should be. the whole point of the game is to do stuff and have fun and if killers are just focused on getting the 4k quick and easy and survivors just want to gen rush and escape then there really isn't much gameplay going on. The devs did the emblem system with this in mind, that the killer and survivor should have more interaction than just being hooked/slugged and the gens being done efficiently. I'm telling the OP that there's enough things in the map and interactions to not depip. I've never depipped from an afk game cause I got an item or did totems enough to farm 20k and actually take a break from getting tunneled or facecamped.
-
Sprint Burst keeps getting listed up here? do you guys realize that's an active right and it's more effective than dead hard? It's arguably the strongest objective perk in the game.
Overrated Perk for survivor is DS, it's literally a stun and that's why they use it, to waste killer time. I feel like if Survivors used better objective progress gain perks they would never bother with this.
Underrated Perk for survivor is small game, it literally counters most of the killers most powerful perks and counters 2 killers.
Overrated Perk for killer is Sloppy Butcher, it really doesn't do enough, like 4 seconds on heal, and I see it frequently, it does stack well with some killers and Thanatophobia though.
Underrated Perk for killer is Brutal Strength, I feel like it should be baseline and the biggest timeloss I see in games is breaking pallets and kicking gens when it's incredibly core to whittling away survivor resources and regressing generators.

I've been seeing some recent threads saying to nerf plague, and lately i've been playing plague and as soon as someone gets infected someone disconnects in some matches
Is plague that strong?
Will she be the next one to getting nerfed?
(also 9 out of 10 plague mains recommend cleansing)
plague is a solo survivors dream, but she punishes any sense of cooperative play. She's really strong when she can just get her sickness going and put survivors in the broken state, but if it doesn't spread and she doesn't get momentum or power, she gets beaten bad. Problem is that she does what Legion was designed for but better. I think her biggest issue is big maps.

So in a boring afk game I should be forced to go around and do things just so I don't be punished and depip?
yup, go open a chest or do a totem, they are pretty easy to do. Also have a better mindset, work on doing great skill checks, work with team mates to coop gens. you'd be surprised how quickly you can double your points and pip in those instances. You get a free pass into the game and can use it to strengthen different mechanics and do a scavenger hunt against the other survivors.
-
@MegHasCuteFeet said:
That's the spirit.
No need to play against survivors that know how to abuse bad game mechanics like generator speeds, and that use the same 4 perks every game.
Either bhvr changes something or red rank survivors will quit the game because they won't find matches.
I'm not encountering that at all, they are intentionally dying and playing bad to affect the killer stats. Same scum, but different tactics. Like how kids throw a tantrum when they can't get what they want.

Although you can pip up with an afk killer, it's very difficult, especially at mid to high ranks. Even if it is manageable, it's still a flaw in the system that survivors are effectively punished if no one gets hooked or hit (which is usually the case with an afk killer), because it's impossible to receive any points in benevolence. OP's point is valid in that regard - the ranking system does need looking at.
I'm gonna completely disagree just based on experience. The OP didn't find enough things to do in the map to get the pip specifically already existing secondary objectives. Either way a survivor shouldn't just be awarded a participation trophy to pip in an afk match just because they did the gens and exited the map. I do agree that the piping system needs an overhaul, survivors can just pip from unhooks and heals and I feel like there should be a greater skill sense than farming team mates. At least it's not as bad as old WGLF stacks, that was just a nightmare until they put safe hook points.

As we've said before, some of those are placeholders and were planned to be changed before it ever went live.
was it even player tested? not being snarky I actually wanted to know if the devs did the challenges or had playtests.
-
You should probably bring a toolbox use No one Left Behind and Spine Chill, Sprint Burst and Empathy. You need to quasi sandbag your hookable teammates endgame then farm the hooks and block the gates if you can. It's scummy but that's the only strat I can come up with. I gave up and did the killer archives and I'm working backwards through survivor now.
-
I got half of it done, I'm working on the Survivor end on the backside and doing the egc one last since it's rng
-
They shouldn't lock the lore behind some of the more difficult challenges. those should be the easy grind ones.

I don't understand your point? do you want to play games with afk people where you actually have to do stuff like that just to not depip?
I'm saying you actually didn't fulfill a point or action requirement to pip. There's ways to do this against an afk even a stealther like Wraith. It's really about lucking out with items or bringing a secondary chase objective with you. I guess I should explain, I afk in killer matches a lot, I really just want to get my daily/archive and just let the survivors go, half of them dc anyway in farming matches so there's no point killing them.
-
@NoTicket said:
Like the title says, I played a game and the killer was afk the whole time and i still depipped, I just think it's unfair for that to even be a thing and was wondering if there was ever going to be some fixes for this kind of stuff?
you didn't do enough in the game, do totems, open chests, use toolboxes to sabo.

Excluding endgame collapse challenges, most challenges are fine, you’ll just have to grind a bit. The unhook 25 survivors one kinda sucks too since it encourages bt hook farming and the Trapper one might be difficult but most are still fine.
barely getting 2 safe unhooks on average, meaning the first survivor node is going to take me over 50 games if I'm lucky, assuming it isn't a basement trapper like I've gotten in most of my games.

yeah I forgot it auto jumps it. I usually don't use keys tbh I think the devs should've removed or reworked them. It's stupid how they designed this archive, they put easier challenges way deeper and have an rng impossible one right at the beginning.
-
Theoretically you could use a key, to trigger the egc early, open the hatch and see if the killer closes it and try to get the unhooks afterwards.

Seriously? Look at these numbers? That's ridiculous. This is not fun for anyone is it? It adds more a grind to a game with an already ridiculous grind. You may say "it's only cosmetic" but, I personally will never be buying the pass again.
has anyone even gotten the EGC survivor one? The killer challenges seem easy, but that one is substantially rough, you have to have decent enough survivors to get to EGC then have to unhook 2 of them during it... I really can't see that being done without swf.

Personally I feel Doctor needs a bit of a rework next. His power takes too long to actually have an effect and by the time it does the damage is already done and 400 gens are powered lol.
Most of the killers in the game need an add-on overhaul or some things just added to their kit. Huntress, Doc, Clown, Pig, Bubb, Trapper, Legion. Huntress plays well, but her add-ons are either too OP or completely randomly unfair and randomly valued and doesn't add much to her playstyle. Doc needs more range in his kit, he needs more nuanced add-ons (blind mixed with bad info auras). Clown's add-ons are borderline functional, but they are too piecemeal he also needs a 5th bottle or some kind of map pressure mechanic (bottles on gens?). Hag is god tier but she needs more nuance to her kit, she's entirely reliant on survivors to make mistakes. Pig need to break pallets on her crouch slash, it's dumb that she doesn't have this in her basekit. Trapper needs a 2nd trap basekit and he needs more 1-2 max traps. Bubba needs more cosmetics and his tantrum animation done quicker it's annoying that he has a punishing mechanic in his kit when hillbilly exists, plus his add-ons are just copypaste of billy. Legion needs his multistab reworked into something like Doc where he adds stacking debilitating status effects on multiple stabs (not a delayed instadown unless with his add-ons), his power shouldn't deduct on basic hits and they need to remove the 1 stab punishment from him if he misses this way he can just play like a mobility doc and still m1 and tunnel if he needs to play that way.

I don’t usually farm as killer, I’ll just kill the people and re-que.
well killer queues have gotten better, I was waiting about 40 minute on average and when that happens I pretty much want to enjoy the game I get. It's not like nice "farming" as you would think. I'm essentially bashing the survivors apart and keeping them alive to sufficiently squeeze the blood points out of them and try to make them better survivors. The more you kill them, the more they dc and the less points and people you play with. The longer you drag the match out, the more they learn and the higher retention of survivors to cull. It's community building in a sense, plus I have fun just messing and memeing with them most of the time it's literally the locker-jumpers i despise. I just get weirded out when there's deranked tryhard swf and I'm just shaking my head or there's survivors at low ranks that clearly know how to loop and do a gen. It's no fun playing against survivors that loop you all game and genrush through ruin, it's fun showing a new survivor how to actually run a loop with "trial and error". Plus I'm still forced to play against purple and red ranks which really shows how messed the ranking system is.
-

Because there is no playstyle more boring than farming matches, having killers force you to farm is more annoying than being tunneled & camped.
Survivors are queueing up for 10+ minutes just to have some killer afk/occasionally hit them and farm, it's more enjoyable to just re-queue
my point exactly, I'm just smacking them to get bp I'm not in for the kills, but if they don't have the sense to do a gen idk how to help them. I'm honestly afraid to even hook them cause I can get 2 dcs and end up pipping :/

I do math, but that's the point. The efficiency is the same but the dollar amount is more. I would've literally spent 20$ worth of 30$ cosmetics if they offered it for a specific Black Friday deal. Instead I just bought 5$ of dlc and spent the remainder of my money on other steam games since I already own the bulk of the dlc and I'm not a big fan of the cosmetics through the steam store.

I mean, your individual money is pretty much useless in the grand scheme of things... BHVR isn't exactly on hard times 🤨
I guess that's true, but I would actually like to buy stuff from here if there was more than the seasonal dlc sales they do. Since they've updated their own shop and currency I thought they would follow through with discounts in line with Steam sales. I feel like BHVR is going through a weird monetization transition between paid game + dlc and cosmetics to more of a fortnite/LOL style (possibly making the game ftp with purchases of characters and cosmetics). The problem I have is capitalizing on black friday with stuff while other devs and companies are making money from sales.
TLDR: Essentially I wanted the battle pass for 8$ while I bought dlc I didn't already own. I'm gonna buy it eventually right before the Rift ends but that's money BVHR could've gotten now that I paid to another indie dev for Steam.
