The main thing deal here is that, while Killers can potentially earn more BP than Survivors per match, Survivors earn just as much (or more) over the course of multiple matches. Survivors can requeue instantly after dying, while Killers have to stick through the entire match. The only situation in which this isnt true is SWF, because they also need to wait for their friends to leave the match. Which is why SWF breaks the game in more ways than just during match. :P

Regarding SWF, that's a choice they make themselves. It has no bearing on the balance of the game.

• Because they die. Because their interactions require considerably less effort than the killers'. Because they have more interactions. Many reasons.

Will it be Charon from greek mythology? He is linked to religion (demise of the faithful)? And is a link betweend the underworld and our "human/mortal" world.
He drives on a boat at the Styx and carries a LANTERN!

I can't really think of any abilities but maybe he can spawn some fog around him which makes survivors harder to see him when he is close, or something like this.

IDK just wanted to share my Charon thought with you!

See ya in the fog!

Doubtful. That's not a lantern, it's an incense holder.

I would say the most reasonable way to punish a camper would be making a survivor die slower on the hook for being too close for too long unless another survivor is there. You think that the killer would get bored and leave at that point and go do something else.

Tried, abused by survivors, thrown out the window.
If your suggestion is based on punishing the killer for being close to the hook, it's automatically bad and will not work. Think outside the box.

Hey bro. You offered no constructive side to your opinion. Why is it bad? why wont it work? it is only a brief idea and would need to go through balancing by the devs obviously. Please rather than abuse an idea because it is not your own opinion, maybe ask how that would work in an actual game.

1, it would probably have to be set to a time.
2, it would need to be turned off if another survivor is within x range.

Kinda similar to a current mechanic

It's demonstrably bad because it was already tried and failed.
Why do people keep trying to logic their way out of reality?

None of my swf group uses this perk, but I also don't see what the big deal is.

"Wallhacks aren't a problem".

• BT needs two nerfs:

• Doesn't activate once the gates are powered. This will make it so the perk can't guarantee hook rescues when there's nothing the killer can do about it.
• Can only activate after a survivor has been hooked for 15 seconds. This will make it so it doesn't activate on hook rushes.

Uh, no. With Dark Sense, however, you can prevent NOED's effects by simply not being found. It's a stealth perk.

.... Bitter Murmur.............................exists. Dark sense isn't a counter to NOED itself. I'm just applying your logic to the common "DS counters" I suppose. Wrong thread! :)

Dark Sense is a different perk that's not built into NOED.

Yes, the Nurse is a killer that actually requires you to change your playstyle. Ideally, all killers should require different playstyles to beat, since they also require different playstyles from the person playing them, but unfortunately that is not the case. If you choose not to adapt, that doesn't make the killer broken.

No livestream today.

We are just changing the way we communicate about the game. As you might have realized, we added more communication on specific subjects (ie: Matchmaking / Decisive strike blogposts)

To answer @The_Crusader , we are not scared, and because we knew it was going to be a hot topic, we organized an open Q&A on Discord with the Designer that worked on the changes the day after we published the Decisive strike blogpost. The way we see it, that activity was more valuable than a livestream.

In the future, livestreams will be used for more official communications.
We realized that having livestreams too often was forcing us in communication when sometimes, we had nothing new to announce / say or didn't have enough information to share to really answer questions, it was nice to keep in touch with players but we are introducing new activities / ways to stay in touch.

Finally, we have a special Livestream planned for Monday March 4th 2PM EST.

I wasn't there for the Q&A, but if you could let the designer know that I think it's ingenious, I'd appreciate it. And no, I'm not being sarcastic. It doesn't change what the perk is designed for, and instead makes it available only when necessary. On paper (can't be 100% sure until I've seen it in action), it's probably one of the best perk changes in a while.

Face campers. Face campers. Face campers.

Game isn't fun when killers just want one kill.

Camping is a losing strategy if the survivors play smart. And here's a tip: killers can't camp what they can't catch.

Also, losing isn't supposed to be fun.

• @Theninjabizcuit said:
All I'm saying is I'm running into to many face campers deterring my friends from playing the game. It's not a big deal when I get hooked, but when they do and have nothing to do for the rest of the match they don't want to play another round. Especially if this happens more times than not. I love the game. The "blind" aspect is already in the game. Slow it down and add it to campers within 10 meters of the hook who are not holding another survivor.
Or make another game mode and have one "chill" and the other one "competitive". Chill could earn players less points but be more relaxed. Competitive being more for long time players wanting to test/use skills against each other.

Not looking for hate, looking to improve this game I adore.

Well, losing isn't supposed to be fun.

How about this...

No One Escapes Death, Perk Level 1

• No One Escapes Death starts with 1 Token.
• Once the Exit Gates are powered, No One Escapes Death is enabled & Survivors suffer from the Exposed Status Effect.
• Everytime you instantly put a Survivor from any Health State into the Dying Health State using your main weapon, remove 1 Token.
• No One Escapes Death is disabled after reaching 0 Tokens.

No One Escapes Death, Perk Level 2

• No One Escapes Death starts with 2 Tokens.

No One Escapes Death, Perk Level 3

• No One Escapes Death starts with 2 Tokens.
• Once the Exit Gates are powered, No One Escapes Death is enabled & Survivors suffer from the Exposed Status Effect.
• Everytime you instantly put a Survivor from the Healthy Health State into the Dying Health State using your main weapon, remove 1 Token.
• No One Escapes Death is disabled after reaching 0 Tokens.

In case you didn't notice, i removed the Hex part. :p

I like the idea, but I feel it just makes NOED go back to how it was before the nerf where it became a Hex perk. It's sort of halfway between that and how it is now.

Wanted to play some chill matches after a few days break from DbD.

These players turned me into a literal facecamper and I've never done that in months if not years.

The endgame chat didn't make it better at all.

Same, packed out LF with a full camperbuild. I only camped if somebody had DS tho. I'd pick up the obsession, see if he wiggles if he wiggles I'd basically play perkless but if he didn't or if I even got dstriked then prepare for the insidious facecamp.

I played Billy mostly with my regular loadout.

But seriously the first match yesterday: Match starts, I sprint across the map and immediately get a Kate. I though Well [BAD WORD] it, I'll let her run because it was literally 10 seconds into the match. I didn't pay attention and she ran off to the area where Ruin was. 20 seconds later ruin is down, I just thought God damnit, is that your way of saying "thank you" for not immediately killing me?!.

Whatever, moved on and ignored it only to find out everyone looping that Wretched Shop like crazy. Finally catched someone and simply facecamped. Got lucky in process and managed to down someone else so in the end I ended up with 2 kills and a 4x SWF insulting me for camping. I let them know what happened in the beginning and their reaction was; What would you've done if you saw the hex totem?!?

Am I the only person that would actually appreciate that Killers nice gesture and in return would skip that hex totem in exchange for their mercy? Seriously, what the [BAD WORD]? It was the first match, I got unlucky and showed weakness because I kinda forgot how selfish survivors are (didn't play in a while) but this first match had me instantly realize what the community is like. And yea, after that match is was basically: DS, flashlight, teabag or anything slightly toxic? Facecamp.

Never show survivors mercy unless several have disconnected. Most won't appreciate it.

yeah it sucks for the survivors who used offerings, but its the fastest way to get to the midranks where the game is actually fun to play

Yes, if you DC too much, you will be automatically banned from the game. However, the percentage is unknown and seems fairly high.

• @The_Crusader @Delfador Let's do the math in terms of how time actually works.

Here's the scenario:

• For the sake of argument assume the killer is always chasing one survivor, so there's a total of three active survivors at any given time.
• Since travel time from totem to totem should be roughly the same as travel time from generator to generator, it's an irrelevant constant when comparing how long it'll take to repair all generators to how long it'll take to break all the totems. Thus, disregard it.
• Assume 80 seconds to repair a generator.
• Assume 14 seconds to break a totem.
• Assume only one survivor works on any one generator (which is not so much an assumption as it is how the game usually progresses under normal circumstances).
• Assume repairs are occurring simultaneously (see above).

If all three survivors are repairing generators, they can repair three generators in 80 seconds. Here's where the paths diverge:
1. If one of them chooses to break totems it will take 70 seconds total. Meanwhile, the other two repair the last two generators, which will take them 80 seconds. Total time? 160 seconds.
2. If one of them chooses to sit on their ass, the other two will repair the last two generators in 80 seconds. Total time? Still 160 seconds.

Conclusion: Breaking totems has no impact on the minimum amount of time required to repair all the generators.

• @Delfador said:

@Orion said:

It's only 70 seconds if there's a single survivor breaking every single totem, and it's only roughly equivalent to 6 generators if the other three do nothing while that one is breaking totems.

Now here's the funny part: 5 generators being repaired by 3 survivors take the same amount of time as 5 generators being repaired by 4 survivors, assuming only one is allowed per generator. That's because if there are 6 generators and 3 survivors, they can repair three generators simultaneously (+80 seconds) and then two again (+80 seconds). If there are five generators and four survivors, they can repair three generators simultaneously (+80 seconds) and then two again (+80 seconds).

So even in your scenario of only one survivor breaking all the totems, disregarding the absurd notion that the other three are just sitting on their asses doing nothing for the full 70 seconds, total generator repair time is unchanged. The minimum amount of time required for the trial to end is unchanged. Because actions can occur simultaneously, which is something people who say breaking every totem is like adding an entire generator's worth of repair time always "forget".

Since 1 on the totems, the other 3 are on the generators, I suppose the killer is AFK?
1 on the totems, 2 are on the generators, killer earned at least 1 more generator assuming that the totem cleanser is teleporting to the totems and know every single location.

The other guy assumed the other 3 survivors were AFK, I just made the same assumption for the killer.

• @The_Crusader said:
Which proves what I was saying...

Killers don't want the totems cleansed. They want the biggest crutchperk in the game (once DS is changed) to activate.

5 totems x 14 = 70 seconds. That's not including time spent running around looking for them, or survivors being interrupted and needing to start cleansing from the beginning again. Add in all that and it's easily over a gens worth of time, easily. In fact almost every game I get interrupted at least once.

If a killer can't win with 6 gens then they have a problem. 6 gens or instadowns and speed boost at the endgame. It's win/win for killers either way.

And how many do you see running Bitter Murmur alongside NOED? I'll bet you see a lot more with NOED, which is why any rational person would break the totems. You know, use the counter for a perk that's picked a lot, as opposed to choosing not to use the counter, then complaining that the perk took effect.

@Orion I have even used MAPS to track totems, but I always end up having to save someone from the hook or having to do a gen cause no one is doing jack #########. Also I've seen killers use Bitter Murmur with NOED a few times because that's the only way they can get kills at the end and that's what they were hoping for.

So you used maps to track totems, but you had to unhook or repair gens because nobody is doing anything. That's a problem with your teammates, and thus I suggest you stop doing the things that are causing you to lose or blame your teammates rather than the killer.
End-game builds are a thing, and the perks are appropriately powerful. Since end-game perks are usually completely useless during the trial itself, they have to make up for it when the trial is almost over. This is a "you" problem. If the killers were worse than you, then you wouldn't lose.
