  • New perk: Arnold Layne's Touch

Hitting a survivor removes any special cosmetic he or she is wearing, and replaces it with the basic outfit of that survivor.

  • I was looking for L4D 3, thought it may happen, that's when I ran into the trailer of Bill's paragraph. Started looking up DBD gameplay videos, I watched a HUGE number of them. Dat360NoScope first, because I generally hate commentaries, just wanna see the gameplay, and his vids are great. Then I found Panda, and he's so bloody hilarious, so I finally bought the game about 2018 April or May.

As for survivor, I always played killer more, because it's more of a challenge, and frankly, murdering people is just pure joy. Only lately started playing a lot of survivor, simply because I have less downtime, and with the past year's improvements, now it's a little more balanced: survivor is not as easy as it used to be, which is great.

Plus, there is Diversion. The single best survivor perk in the game, second to none.

  • What if it removed generator blockers, and if it made so that repairing an extra gen reopens hatch?

    Or something like that.

  • If I got 5 Auric Cells every time some new game is supposedly going to dethrone DBD...

  • @WickedMilk03 said:

I think this would be good. Alot more people would play it or try it out if it were free but before that they need better tutorials and better graphics would help.

A lot more BAD people would try it out, BAD people you see?

  • @My_Farewell said:

No, both noed and adrenaline are fine.

Can we please stop complaining about these 2 perks already?

Let's convince BHVR to stop selling the game. That way, no fresh players come to complain about NOED every day.

  • Pixie, the OP is hugely exaggerating, and even those few occasions when someone actually wishes you cancer, can be ignored.

Unless he's oversensitive. Which he is. But in this case, what he should do is stop being oversensitive.

The reaction "I'll just shut everything out" is silly, even unhealthy. There is so much fun to be had with chill people in postgame chat. It's like when you decide never to leave your house again, because someone was rude to you once...

  • @GrootDude said:

@George_Soros honestly, that sounds like a fun solo survivor task. XD

Way back, before EGC, I tried some games with Urban and Left Behind. It was always pleasing when I could finish a second gen when everyone was dead, to get the Hatch. Not that I could pull it off a lot.

Are we forgetting that the entity uses memories to create what its victims remember?

They're not in ancient Babylon. It's just a Babylonian temple.

Still, the Entity is a very sloppy interior designer.

  • "Bait"

Once you have been hooked 2/1/0 times, you can place a permanent Marker effect on another survivor, visible only to the killer.

Imagine if in Lord Of The Rings instead of using magic to stop the balrog from crossing the bridge

Gandalf just used a double pallet spawn to completely loop the balrog and when the balrog caught up hejust did a 360 loop which would cause the balrog to fall straight off because he lunged instead of just hitting like he should have

Wouldn't that be so much better?

Nah, there is no way to fix that garbage movie, though it would help a little.

Would be a pleasure to see Gandalf teabagging, then perhaps facecamped by Saruman.

  • @Piwatte hey it's just a fun & friendly discussion about a funny idea, nothing serious about it! Just take it easy man, calm down.

Or Gardenia will shoot your dog.

  • Devotion 13. Things are so much more simple when you have no life.

  • I want a perk for this, that is, wrestling an item directly from someone's hand. Anything to sow discord :)

  • How about a perk that spawns one more generator on the map... but it's a fake one? When it's done, it exploded and starts emitting a nasty cloud of smoke, but not considered repaired?

My bad. You're right. Never do gens. Urban evade until all teammates are d-e-d.

See? Play smart, and survive, play bold and die!

  • You all fail to see the point. Empathy is great if you know what you're supposed to be doing: nothing. Nothing, as long as no one is injured. Once somebody a mile away from you gets hit, THEN you know it's gen time. But make sure to Urban away to a corner again once they're healed. Gens are dangerous, gotta double check if you're at a safe distance from the killer.

Oh and maybe you've heard, there's a killer who can teleport to gens. In this case, just don't do gens. At all. At some point, Hatch will open, no matter what.

  • Wait, I thought that was a sign that I WON!

  • @Entitá, you say:

" Imagine if you waste two perk slots for Pharmacy and Ace in the Hole and your mates open all the chests..."

I already said, tell them at start not to ######### all chests. Come on man!

Yeah I confess: I'm a whiny killer who's scared shitless at the thought of more chests, because even with no Plunderer's it means more chance for purple keys. Those are pure evil. If those could not be found in chests, we could have a deal.

Not that I think devs would jump as soon as we told them we've reached a decision about chests :P

  • @Entità said:

@George_Soros Actually I would like to try Pharmacy, because I don't use Selfcare, and it bothers me that a weak perk can be rendered useless by the simple misfortune that someone had fun opening all the chests before you. Having four chests increases the chances of not wasting a perk slot. There is no hope of changing the META, if the weak perks are also situational. And then the Temple of Purgation already has four chests.

Umm. You know, you can ask your teammates at the start of the match to leave the chests for you. If they say they also want to chest dive, you still have the option to either forget about chests and don't take Pharmacy, can use Coin offerings, or just race with your fellow survivors. Duh.

And come one: Pharmacy is a weak perk? It sure beats Self Care... Plus, while it can help you during the game, it even provides a benefit for future games. Not a weak perk at all.

I use it with Ace in The Hole sometimes. Was so funny to find a green medkit with an instaheal near endgame, and it did actually saved my life :)

  • Man. Thos L4D2 days. Good times...

  • @Teapare "I think you don't start bleeding when you just get grabbed by someone, right?"

You're wrong. You'd definitely bleed if I grabbed you :)

  • This is a pointless idea. Currently, if you have no chest perks, chests have a tiny chance of giving noticeable advantage, while with most chest perks, they can be. That's it. What a silly notion that "there are 4 survivors so there's got to be 4 chests", or the even crazier one, that items in looted chests should respawn.

Why do you people want to change everything all the time?

Or, if you're so hellbent on increased chances of getting your purple keys, let us killers search chests too, with a chance of occasionally finding an instantly usable Ebony Mori in them. Fair is fair.

I demand a horror movie with pallets as the silver bullet to defeat the all-powerful killer.

Will pay good money to watch.

Wait there isn't one? Hard to believe!

  • Yeah Glint is right. Pharmacy is way superior, especially if you're a hoarding type. I am :)

  • Oh imagine some rusty, gutted car chassis on Autohaven, monoliths on the Temple, wretched looking hospital beds on Léry's... so many nice options.

  • Beds? I'd just keep tossing my gas under and around... they would come out soon enough :)

Actually i work as nightfill in a warehouse in nz And while the pallets certainly aren't as tall as me ( there about a foot shorter or so and im 5'8 ) there actually a two person lift. i don't bloody know what kind of wood there made out of (oak seems to be popular) but they are actually quite heavy, atleast 25-35kg spread over the area making them hard to lift. had one fall off the pallet stack we have and hit me in the shoulder once, kinda gave me an appreciation for the kind of heft they have. that being said our pallets have a top and bottom side not just a top side like the one featured above.

also being hit in the face with a baseball bat would stun you and they typicall weigh around a kg. its not the weight that gets you, its the angular momentum of the swing. thinking pallet logistics, having one of those swung down with the force of gravity at your face would actually hurt a lot.

Dbd's ones are comically big though not unrealistic. expecially for those created by a demon god thing

OAK? Man you guys gotta be filthy rich in those parts! I bet your fences are made of sausages.

But ok, I guess pushing something with enough force can have a nice punch I guess. Size is still off though.

And you saying "Dbd's ones are comically big though not unrealistic. expecially for those created by a demon god thing" cracked me up. Imagine you're an evil demonic being, ruling over your dark, foggy realm with pretty much all-powerful godly powers, and what do you do in your free time? Why making pallets of course!

  • Oh man finally a lightweight, funny discussion. Don't see many of these...

I have given a lot of thought to it. Partly it's how ridiculous it seems to have a number of pallets on maps like Temple of Purgation. Them olden time Babylonians, were they so keen on effective transportation? Mabye that mysterious mori line from The Plague means "ok Steve I wanna order two more pallets of diet Coke"? Why not make you know, stone slabs, rotten logs, whatever?

Second: I work with imports and I see a lot of those. Now, I can tell you, pallets in DBD are ridiculously big. Most pallets, if standing upright, are not really at an average human height, let alone taller than a monstrous fellow as Michael or Plague. Sorry to disappoint, but in real life, pushing one on someone's head would at best piss them off a little more, but stunning? Nah. They're not even heavy, mostly (ok, not all) are made of pine or other lightweight wood. Look at how weak this thing is:

    pallet.png

I think it's time to replace them with more realistic items.

Wow, I had the same thing recently with the same character but not half as bad, it was Halloween offerings... Christmas... in July? That’s a long time though, wow...that’s actually strangely impressive 😂

Well whenever I join the dark side, I prefer Ace and Kate... no idea why I even prestiged David. But it felt good. Like... Christmas, I guess?

  • I just played a few games with David for a daily, and I realized I still have a Bloodweb level full of Christmas boxes... looks like I haven't leveled the old chap for quite a while.

  • It's not fair in any way. Just ignore rank, unless you're going for the R1 achievement.

  • For those of you who keep saying exit gates spawn too close, consider this: it's RNG, just like hatch location and a lot more in this game. Now, if gates spawn far from each other, often the killer is screwed. Understand, he or she is screwed even after he managed to stop survivors from doing gens, managed to kill three of them off, and managed to find and close the hatch. All this also means that survivors FAILED their objectives. And after all that, the last survivor still has a chance (yes, RNG based chance) that the gates spawn far enough, so any Pig or Bubba or Huntress will have basically no chance to catch him.

Umm... how is that fair? If anything, there should be a fixed MAXIMUM distance between gates, not a minimum.

  • @saiisam said:

Another player on here recommended this, and ever since I’ve done it, I’ve escaped almost 60% of the time.

As soon as the killer closes the hatch, go to one of the gates and, after making sure the killer’s done patrolling it, open it for 4 seconds, leave it and hide. This way the lights stay off and you’re left with less time to open the gate. Wait for the killer to patrol again, and continue opening the gate as soon as they leave. Usually, it’ll be too late for them to down you by the time they reach your gate.

Hah! That's why I use Whispers lately on all my killers :)

  • @fluffymareep said:

What if a DC still kept the player character in the game and you could still hook them as normal? Maybe they just wouldn't struggle on second hook, but they'll hang on first. That would also fix the issue with people DCing to deny killers their stack of BBQ.

Devs mentioned something similar, maybe in last stream, or just a post, though if memory serves, it was about standing survivors, not downed ones, but it could work the same way. It would be wonderful: both a little more fair towards killer points, a much needed fix for hook dependent perks, and not least of all, for Hatch exploits like described in this post.

Also: I can't believe how many people are so deeply biased that they refuse to admit the scumminess of such a move. It's so obviously an exploit, it practically yells in your face. I fully understand how horribly boring it is when you're staying slugged for ages, while there's still another survivor around, stealthy as someone can be. Killers, you shouldn't be so bent on getting a 4K to do it all the time, it's horribly boring for survivors. But survivors should also consider that the killer may be going for an Adept, or just maxing out his score... or simply likes his 4K. You got beaten. In game. A little time spent slugged is tolerable.

  • Survival score makes it near impossible, but Objectives can be hard too if your team is playing smart (meaning: you work on separate generators). And also, if you genrush , you'll probably only have a high Objectives or a high Boldness score, but not both.

  • No and kinda no. You say you don't accept the reasoning "it's hard mode". Well, it is, so there's not much to accept about it. I MAY agree to a bit of BP bonus, but really, survivors get WGLF so it shouldn't be it. (Built-in cake? Come on...) It's not "strong" of course, but most matches are doable; you just have to be very focused. Also, it's great for some sabo meme games; mostly in SWF only, obviously.

OoO is also partly a challenge perk: you probably won't use it if you suck at chases. The gamebraking part of it is that you can seriously screw up stealth killers, especially in SWF. The only change it needs is to disable it whenever the killer is in stealth (for both the survivor and the killer). Wraith, Pig, Ghostface and to some extent Myers are practically countered. It wouldn't be a "buff" to these killers, it would be actual balancing and quality of life.

Sorry but your proposed changes are just terrible. My opinion.

  • Count me in for UE... still love it but can do without it now.

After playing against a few decent Nurses, I thought she was "OP" :D Now I know better.

I knew about scratch marks, but I thought they only appear when you're injured.

  • SC clearly is a wasted perk slot. I particularly love it when I see teammates repeatedly self caring against Legion. Yeah new Legion has a little more chance for M1-ing your ass, but still, so dumb.

Not useless: could come handy when there's only two of you, and some other fringe cases. But I agree it's still not worth it.

As for working together on gens: I always try to do that. Why? You get a LOT more Objectives BP than working alone. Doesn't make much sense, but this is what it is. Prove Thyself is a unique case: you can max out your Objectives score within 1, maybe 1.5 minute. But even without it, it's much better for farming. You're right that it's not so good if you actually want to win the game.

Although there's one more reason: if you have Sprint Burst, that's literally the best way to get your Objectives, Boldness and Altruism points: keep working on gen together. When killer is coming, just make sure to run away before your buddy does. You can get the escape points, poor sod will get caught and hooked, and you can rescue him once killer is gone, if you were smart enough to hide in a safe distance but not too far. EZ farming :)

  • Use Empathy. It's the best perk for this. Just don't jump on a generator as soon as match begins, rather wait for someone to get hit first. You'll see them, so you'll have an exact idea about where the killer is. Ironic how "Empathy" can be used as the most selfish perk: I've had games where I have not been found at once, thanks to it.

With some luck, there also might be an Obsession in the game. That's even better: if you see Entity spikes dancin' around his icon, you know he's being chased, so you can get on gens.

  • It seems the sentiment is unanimous.

Hey devs, mods, Mathieu, listen to the voice of the people!

  • @MrsPiggyIsSoSneaky yes, it would be a lot of fun to have 4 out of 5 games with someone disconnecting. Because that would happen if it were made free. Besides, BHVR put work in the game, a lot actually, so... they should get paid.

Btw don't fall so easily for trolling. Obviously what I said about poor people was a joke.

    Haha. No it wasn't.

Oh, and you're not seriously comparing playing video games to eating, do you? Come on. Of course homeless people should be fed. If they work for it. Video games on the other hand are hardly something you can't live without.

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/381210/Dead_by_Daylight/

How does it not cost $20? And im talking about DBD going free because of the amount of in-game purchases are in it, especially with battlepass coming to it. 19.99 is not 19.99, especially with tax.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/602966#Comment_602966

There are other games that have lots of players come in and they gonna be pretty bad players and they have to learn over time and some will disconnects, that is no difference with DBD, now of course with how bs this game is, yes and increase of DCs, but bad players with new players coming in is just gonna be normal

Also not everyone has a budget to buy a lot of things and then buy video games that cost $20 and over, don't forget tax, it makes it worse. And of course to people with low family budget.

Come on, we don't want poor people playing this game. They're nasty! If someone can't afford $20 (plus taxes, yeah I know) for a huge amount of fun, maybe they should get a job instead of playing video games.

The playerbase needs quality, not quantity.

  • Who told you DBD is meant to be a relaxing experience?

Play more and learn how to punish campers yourself. Stop asking devs to do it for you.

  • Small Game was already my go-to perk, with the new Freddy, it's a godsend. Having so much fun destroying dream pallets all around.

  • You're making a big mistake by setting up these rules. "I don't tunnel", "I don't stay near to the hook"... You're already trying to play by THEIR rules. You shouldn't. They won't play by any rules you make up.

  • Ok man, let's be real here. You only posted this to brag about how you destroyed the most possible tryhard SWF squad, despite crutches galore.

    Well done btw :)

Believe me, I feel your pain, namely, I had a survivor work on a generator directly beside of me when I was about to enter struggle. Luckily, despite my hook meter being at 50%, I didn't enter struggle because he finally realized there was someone hooked beside of him. 😂

But hey, I'm not judging, I make beginner mistakes as well. :)

That's actually the correct thing to do, if you don't want to rescue your buddy TOO soon (e.g. if you suspect the killer is still nearby). I've done exactly this just recently... maybe it was you eh?
