  • Depends. If mild ("bad at game", crying about crutches, racism), ignore. If serious (cancer, death, etc), I either stay silent (if I lost the match), or remind them what sad losers they are (if I won).

Never ever report. You guys shouldn't either. We need ######### in this game. Anyone remembers that line from the Sin City movie: "I love hitmen. No matter what I do to them, I don't feel bad." Same with the most offensive players. Just gotta destroy them in game, then you can move onto destroying their self esteem.

People like to use the Depip Squad as an example for things and they also did games with 0 comms and still ruined the killers, which just proves that if survivors are good they'll beat you, I see no issue.

@SenzuDuck yup exactly. There are a lot more pressing issues than SWF. I hate survivors as much as the next killer, but this holy crusade against SWF, and especially lobby dodging is ridiculous and childish. Killer's a bit more frustrating still, but often more rewarding too. I hope devs know better and concentrate on bugs, specific killers, map issues and so on.

  • @Alkanaro this is a non problem. Few killers camp, and the ones that do screw their own game, except if survivors are stupid. The ideas presented here are bad, and mostly, there is at least one new post about camping EVERY DAY. These people don't care their silly ideas have been suggested by others, just writing out their frustration because they were camped and they didn't like it. It's pure spam, no more.

  • @TeambossFloze "I do not feel SWF is as overpowered as some people complain about."

I happen to completely agree with this. A lot of players are not on comms, which means they may have the small advantage of discussing builds, but no more. IF they even bother with it. And even the ones on Discord or something have to be experienced and focused. Four potatoes on comms are still four potatoes. They'll do gens a little faster, since they know when someone else is being chased, but there's not much more they can do if they go down fast.

So the prob may be more like "SWF team of good survivors". Which is kinda silly, no one will campaign against good players.

  • Learn to play Nurse, kill every last one of them, every time.

Nurse is justice. Nurse is righteous punishment. The only way is the Nurse way.

  • Hide until everyone dies, then take the hatch.

Jesus I have to explain everything.

  • I highly doubt it. If it does, it must be unintended. Just like Jigsaw boxes, it would be a lil too much.

Hopefully, someone will test it, just to be sure.

  • The concept of snares is that they are not really powerful, but they have their uses, and you can (and should) spam them as much as you can, since they don't take long to place at all. And anyway, it would be almost the same power as Hag's. So no, I don't think it's a good idea.

  • Chocolate with chocolate, and some chocolate on top. Consuming fruits is a sin.

  • Like se05239 said: it would be a bad idea to change a basic feature on certain maps. Would create a mess. With shorter, less safe loops, one thing you can do is abruptly switch pallets/vaults, if there's another nearby. Not saying it's easy to perform, but not entirely impossible. And anyway, there's always the option to play stealthy.

  • I really love the ankle grabbing animation of Wraith. "Get yo' ass back here biatch!" And spanking Jane... some pubescent fantasies coming true right there!

  • The caps are there to prevent infinite farming. They will not be removed.

It'd be nice though if they were doubled at lest, I agree about that.

Why an I seeing more posts of this kind than actual complaints about Freddy? You guys need to seriously calm down.

    @White_Owl it's called preventive strike!

  • Congratulations. You just made the 10000th pointless rant post about camping-and-tunneling. Please accept this gift as a token of our appreciation:

  • @JAWS_BDSM

"Wild animals haven`t adapted to him, but they have adapted to crying on forums"

An accurate description of 90% of forum posts. Well done :)

  • You don't seriously think anyone reads this chaotic drivel, right?

    Good. Just checking.

  • There is nothing to solve. Jesus. I swear ya people are so detached from reality... I blame BHVR: they spoiled you, made you guys used to thinking "hey if I cry enough about something, they'll change it the way I want. God forbid I actually have to face a challenging match!".

Seriously, it's ALWAYS the inexperienced players who ask for nerfs, particularly the ones who don't play Nurse or even killer in general. Here's one tip: if you think Nurse is "OP" and impossible to beat, play her. That's the best way to learn her weaknesses.

And on the off chance of any dev reading the forums (though I understand if they don't, it's bad for your health): Don't. You. Dare.

  • Yay. Why do so many people refuse to learn how to play against Nurse?

If she gets nerfed, I'll definitely give up on this game. Don't care much about her addons, but basekit, maybe one extra blink and the brown range addons are perfectly balanced. She's the killer this game needs, since SWF was introduced.

  • @Ace_trainerJosh said:

    Go play civ

    Now that's just rude.

  • I can play just fine. You should move to Europe.

  • I was interested in buying those Pig skins, they look amazing. But the price is ridiculous indeed.

I still don't understand these kinds of complaints. If you find them expensive, don't buy them. What's the problem?

  • On red ranks, a Nurse is formidable. She requires an entirely different counterplay than any other killer, and even if survivors know what they are doing, if she's good, she will have at least some kills.

It's still only people who exclusively play survivor who think she's unbalanced: a lot of players hate how the game is controlled by the killer's skill, not survivors'. But she's balanced; in fact, on rank 1 she's the only killer worth playing.

  • @DrDeepwound threats of kidnapping? Seriously?

    Why don't I never get those? :(

  • @SpaceCoconut I don't. There are literally HUNDREDS of whining posts about a number of things in the game, that are entirely counterable. People don't even bother to look if anyone has come up with exactly the same nonsense they're proposing. Kinda clogs the forum.

This is a legit post. I wouldn't call reasonable criticism "whiny".

  • @Carpemortum that's fear of retribution, disguising itself as "morality". It's common, and not always wrong. In fact, it's a useful survival strategy: if we do not have the strength to resist, we often identify with whatever demand or restriction is forced on us (by parents, society, peer group and so on). We internalize notions of morality, compassion, a sense of community. Of course it comes with the cost of the suppression of one's own self fulfillment.

I AM a therapist by the way.

  • Hurting others is one of the most deeply engraved desire in us. We do it because it feels good. Society can and does force us to restrain ourselves, but it doesn't change the fact that we like doing it. The weaker a person is, the more he or she convinces himself/herself that it is WRONG... but inside, we all know the only real reason that holds us back is threat of punishment.

That's why in a relatively new environment, with still palpable rules (I mean, gaming and online communication is not that old), we tend to almost literally go ape.

It will work itself out. I promise. You guys just stop worrying about "toxicity".

  • @My_Farewell nice! Makes me think, we, in developed countries (and frankly, any country that has access to Steam is developed), just have no idea what real hunger is. We throw this word around and more: "omg I'm starving!". But most of us have never seen, let alone experienced true hunger. Going on without food for days, living on scraps for extended periods... no, we have no idea.

Not trying to romanticize poverty. Just a thought.

  • Wait, I thought complaining and posing as victims was the real game. That stupid app on my Steam called "Dead By Daylight" is just a cosmetic addition.

  • Lol what a silly random question. They're Americans mostly, right? Or Canadians. Those guys in them young countries get their driving licenses at the age of what, 8? 9?

  • @ActualPotatoBtw

"Though I'm still not sure if winning against a player more than once (let's say someone versed the same killer twice in 5 games they played) counts as harassment, griefing or targeting a specific player to ruin their game experience."

Heh. Don't let your common sense cloud your judgement. MANY players cry foul when they lose, and they'll use any excuse, however ridiculous, to blame, or even report their opponent. BHVR (or their parents) spoiled them irreversibly.

  • Its most important uses: at the start, you'll find your first target much faster; sometimes you check on a gen early game, it's off, but whispers may tell you someone's there, they're just playing smart so they have not started working on it immediately.

Second use: helps greatly with 4K: when only one survivor is left, even if you close the hatch, survivors have an easy time with exit gates on most maps: just hide near one gate, wait for killer to check on it, and start opening when he leaves. Slow killers have nothing to counter this. But Whispers changes everything: as long as it's active, you know they're there. You either find them and sacrifice them, or EGC does the job for you.

And then there are midgame uses, mostly works against very immersed survivors, but for the most part, you are chasing someone anyway, so it's not as important as the other two.

There are other good perks, but Whispers is great on strong killers (Nurse), because survivors tend to stealth a little more against them, and on stealth killers too, because once it's active you can go around and surprise them from an angle they don't expect. I ALWAYS use Whispers on Nurse, Wraith, Pig, Michael, Ghostface, and it works wonders.

EDIT: as for direction, it's not like you have to search an entire circle of 32 m radius. Keep an eye out for when the icon lights up, the survivor will be most likely in the cone ahead of you, which helps narrowing it down.

  • @Gardenia they're not gonna fix him. Her. Whatever. Let poor Legion rest in peace :(

  • @ActualPotatoBtw teabagging itself is definitely not "scummy", and neither is flashlight spamming. Let alone bannable. If you continuosly do it to a new player, with the purpose of driving him mad and follow him through matches, then MAYBE this could be griefing (which IS bannable, as long as you can report it with proof, which is btw unlikely), but streamers are supposed to be experienced, so it shouldn't count either. This whole "toxicity" thing is overblown anyway... it's just there are too many super sensitive players who get butthurt way too easily, and surprisingly, streamers are the worst.

Bming can mean a lot of things, obviously wishing someone cancer, suggesting they should kill themselves, are usually bannable (I think), and for some odd reason, racial/homophobic slur too. None of these should be, but hell, these Canadians are softies. Other kinds of BMing (calling people names etc) are not, as far as I understand.

That is how I interpret BHVR's summary of bannable offenses. Stream sniping is clearly stated NOT to be bannable (thankfully). It's not a question of it being done simultaneously with "griefing". It's just not bannable. Griefing is, but that's something hard to prove, and most people don't bother to report, which is wise: you don't want them banned. You want to whoop their asses.

Anyway, mods/devs please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here somewhere.

  • Learn to play Nurse. She's great. And don't expect much when playing other killers, it's just how this game is. Sometimes you'll catch a break, but roughly speaking, Nurse is the only killer worth playing.

  • Sorry martin27, but actually tunneling is the best when it's done early. Not always the best choice, but if there are still 4-5 generators left to repair, and one's already dead, that's when you know you're in a good spot as killer.

The only sad part about it is that it's usually the least experienced survivor who gets tunneled out quickly. That's bad for new players, so some of us show a bit of mercy there... or rather, it feels so much better to tunnel the cocky master looper to death, then take care of the rest. But unfortunately, that's not always possible.

There's only one thing to do about tunneling: get used to it. Sometimes it happens to you. Not the end of the world. Killer plays AGAINST you, it's no surprise if he destroys you, such is the nature of the game. It definitely doesn't happen every game (if it does, you're doing something wrong).

  • What? No flames?

    Damn I'm disappointed.

But good luck mate! Just don't expect to get winning streaks right away. You will, at some point. Until then, be persistent!

  • @ActualPotatoBtw said:

And what exactly counts as harassment and griefing and ruining the game experience? I've watched one streamer play against a survivor that was teabagging (that's it, that was the only thing they did) and they called it griefing and harassment and said they are going to report that person to the devs.

Stream sniping (or let's be honest, playing against a streamer) doesn't seem to be bannable by itself, but what's the difference between stream sniping and harassment, griefing and ruining someone's game experience? Can someone give any examples?

@ActualPotatoBtw devs give a pretty clear and straightforward definition of "griefing": it is when someone PURPOSEFULLY and REPEATEDLY targets a specific player, using tactics or a playstyle that, while legit and not bannable, is considered scummy (facecamping, tunneling, not hooking them but let them bleed out instead, lots of flashlight spamming, teabagging and more). Emphasize: REPEATEDLY. It actually takes a lot of effort, because you'd have to constantly leave lobbies and join new ones if you want to get into a given player's lobby. You'd have to work real hard on it if you wanted to get banned for griefing, and obviously, as a survivor, you could only do it against a streamer (so you can see you're in their lobby).

So the definition is quite specific, which is good: no one should be banned except if their "guilt" is proven beyond doubt, and the offense they committed is REALLY serious.

As far as I see it, devs perform well in this: while I'm quite unhappy how lenient they are about bans for DC (disconnects do much more harm than "griefing"), griefing is really not that big of an issue. It's simply too hard to follow someone on purpose and screw them every game. Plus, there's those of us who enjoy it: some of us LOVES getting into games with people who were rude, offensive etc. towards us in previous game(s). It creates drama :)

Some streamers fail to recognize such attempts as a challenge. Their choice I guess, but I think it's the wrong one.

  • Have you guys seenthe new totem placements in PTB? Some of them are amazing! A small opening in bushes which is a one way in, a bunch of concrete blocks that cover the totem not just from the sides and from behind, but there's one above it as well... I hope other maps get similar treatment, not just Haddonfield.

  • Unfortunately I haven't saved a screen shot. But one time, one of the SWF group whom I just 4K-ed asked me something like "HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A PUSSY? ARE YOU A VIRGIN?" The others were relatively civilized and friendly, but this one kept attacking me in this fashion.

To this, naturally, I explained I'm still a virgin, but it's ok, my mom says it's too early, no need to hurry. Also added that I'm 44. For some reason it made here even more mad.

Honestly, often it's female players who throw the worst tantrums. I'm not really sure allowing girls to play video games is a good idea. They're just not emotionally strong enough to handle stress. Respect for the ones that do though; there are always exceptions.

Btw, @se05239 is completely wrong here. Best decision of mine was to open up comments for anyone. Sooooooooooooooo incredibly entertaining! Post-game chat, profile comments, these are all good fun. Yea you leave yourself open for sharp insults whenever you lose of course. Those can hurt. But even so, it's worth it, it's wonderful to see the rivers of salt!

  • @se05239 well... both would be a little too widely used, especially "UP" ^^

But I'd love an experimental week or two when no one can post anything.

We're all so used to treat BHVR like those stereotypical, annoying customers treat shop assistants. We're positively spoiled and entitled.

  • I disagree. And I'm as killer biased as someone can possibly be. BL has its limits, sometimes you get chased in an area with no elevation at all, so it has a strong downside. It's nice to have one Exhaustion perk that has a reliable secondary effect, I don't think it should have a CD.

  • Most of these would be completely broken OP, simply because there are FOUR survivors. Imagine 3-4 survivors using the Exposed counter. Would break the game completely.

If anything, map offerings should be purple. And that garbage Shroud of Binding should be brown, or better yet, removed from survivor Bloodweb and moved to killer Bloodweb.

  • I think it's about time mods create subcategories. If any new discussion contains any of the following, it automatically gets moved there, so General Discussions, Killers and Survivors don't get flooded.

    • NOED
    • camping
    • tunneling
    • Adrenaline
    • Mori
    • teabagging
    • flashlight clicking
    • Legion
    • Nurse
    • Haddonfield
    • Ruin
    • totem placement
    • DS

    I may have forgotten some.

  • @Atrushan88 like Volfa said, Award Winning Chile and other garbage would make even less sense then.

But generally it's not a bad idea, especially with moris. I think adding a slight penalty/bonus for only offerings (or strictly to map offerings and moris) would already be a nice step.

  • Omg Skarkio, sorry, but it's garbage on top of garbage on top of more garbage, except Moonlight Sonata I guess.

Für Elise... god it may even be decent, but the number of doorbells, music toys and other gadgets playing it in the most annoying beepy tone made me hate it. It looks like the guys down in Yiwu only know this single piece of classical music.

Camping realistically results in a 4k every time. Lol. I and others like me will continue to report these game breaking killers until they are punished or the game is balanced

That's dedication. Do you call the police every time when you feel someone's looking at you the wrong way?
