It's a difficult map for killer, but at least it's a stealth map not so much a loop map. Sometimes you can crush the cocky type of survivors there.
Positively a nightmare if you're up against immersed survivors, but at least that's fun... in a frustrating way.
-
You can't even do it now: basement stairs were recently made wider, so killer cannot effectively bodyblock now.
But anyway, now, if it cannot be done indefinitely, it's not "holding the game hostage". It would be the case without EGC.
-
It's a good thing. Mixing up ranks sometimes creates a bit of unpredictability, which is good. Skilled players will rank up soon enough anyway. And it creates incentive to play more, at least for those players who want to brag about rank (there's a lot of us ;).
I just don't get it why people keep saying they're "not having fun" when playing against much better players every once in a while. So you occasionally get your ass handed to you, na und? It's a learning experience, not the end of the world. I understand it's frustrating if it happens all the time, but it's usually not the case. All you need is some sense of humor, and you'll get over these losses.

This console/PC feud(ette) is most likely rooted in the limitations consoles have. You can't use it for real stuff (work), you can't upgrade it, and you have to put up with paying more for games than on PC. Consoles are ready made, neatly packed products, easy to use, basically like Apple stuff: manufacturers go out of their way to make sure you can use it even if you're stupid. Plus, most games that come out only or primarily to consoles, are horribly stupid, whereas some of the most creative games (indie mostly) will never be on consoles.
So yeah, there is something behind the stereotype. From what I hear, DBD's console community is also more immature than the PC ilk... not that PC players don't have a fair number of idiots among them.
So, I'm definitely not saying console players are inferior to PC players. Also, please note that saying it would go against forum rules, right? If it was not, I wouldn't hesitate to point out objective facts. Right? Right? *wink wink*

@ShrekIsHot be glad you don't know. But I can assure you, he sucks.

@Andreyu44 "physical insults"? Have you ever been punched in the face? I hope not. But I have, and I can tell you, there's a world of difference between that and being hit by the killer while on hook.
Annoying the other for shits and giggles is part of gaming. That's actually more important than the videogame itself: rule is, whoever loses his ######### first..., well, he loses. That's no excuse for the most horrible trash talk (except for good friends, they can take it :) ), but you really shouldn't be so upset about a little spanking on the hook. That just shows you're weak. Do you want to stay weak?!
-
Never use them, except Cypress, when I want to screw with their minds. Moris are just cheap.
-
@DoubleTap you know what? I happily take longer waiting times, if in return, DC losers get culled like they deserve. Simply don't need people who don't want to play the game.
Also, I don't know about you guys, but if my killer lobbies seem to take too long, I just switch to survivor.
-
@RoKrueger I was wondering when you'd show up... the topic looks right up your alley ^^

I could understand slugging to get the 4K when killers couldn't close the hatch, but now? Nah
@My_Farewell actually yeah, there's a lot less of that lately. I usually just slug the third, go search for hatch, go back and hook the guy. I have plenty of time to go back to the hatch and close it before he's sacrificed. Takes a lot less time than it used to without the option to close the hatch. Yet another thing that has been greatly improved, thanks to EGC.
-
You don't know what you're asking for. Taking One For The Team is the most horrible, grinding achievement which can be only completed by doing an excessive amount of dumb saves. There are at least two "Protection" score events, one is when you get hit near a hook, but only if the freshly unhooked survivor is still there. This one is 200 BP, and only this registers score for the achievement. Any other protection (like when an injured teammate is chased and you block the killer and take a hit) is 100 BP, and DOES NOT register. And if I'm correct, taking hits from a carrying killer sometimes register, sometimes not.
So, basically, you have to do stupid saves, get in the killer's way and take a hit. If he's trying to be nice, he won't go after the unhhoked one, but then you'll go down fast enough. You'll screw up your team, and they'll be mad at you... and they'll be right. I should know, I got this achievement ;)
Seriously, it's by far the worst achievement in the game.
-
@sovererignking my, you're overly dramatic. "Harassment and heavy grieving"? That's when someone tells you you should ######### or talks ######### about your mom, etc. Watching your stream and punishing you for it is dirty, sure, but it's hardly "harassment" or "grieving". And as many have said, one: it's impossible to track and therefore, impossible to ban. Two: it's just not useful. Stream delay makes it useless.
Further, how exactly can someone "knowingly and willingly follow" another? Quitting lobbies until he ends up in yours? That's hard and boring to do, and needs a lot of luck to be successful.
And finally, just a side note: a woman dressing provocatively is not in any way an excuse for someone ######### her. But a woman ACTING provocatively can hardly cry out "I'm being harassed" if she gets snide comments or a little too vehement approaches.
EDIT: interesting, forum seems to censor out the word R*PE. "#########" seems to be no problem though ^^
-
That's the point where you quit. It happens with other games too: for a long time you enjoy winning, and don't mind losing (too) much, then, you don't even notice it for a while, but one day you realize you get frustrated by losses and victory just doesn't taste that great anymore.
This game is addictive. Keep that in mind, and quit when you don't enjoy it anymore.
-
It's impossible to punish... how would you monitor if someone in your game is watching your stream? And if you put ttv in your nick then it's basically just your own stu... err, silliness paying off.
In any case, I can tell you that I tried it once, and there seems to be a significant delay in the stream, making it actually much more distracting than useful. So there's not even a real issue here.
-
They banned me, but they did it in such a gentle, caring way, it still warms my heart to think about it!

DCing to give someone else the hatch is fine. They are losing every single BP earnt in that match (plus items and offerings assuming they were running them).
@My_Farewell absolutely not. It's an exploit, and one of the more scummy ones. The killer won, yet you're ok with stealing his pips and points from him? Come on. You know it's terribly unfair.
@CreatorTH is right. There should be at least the same delay as with a third hook stage, before hatch opens.
-
That's about the smallest problem with Legion. Just keep in mind that you lose FF if you miss, so time it a little better.
The HUGE problem with this killer now is the barely noticeable speed increase in FF (takes the fun of the original version away), and even more so, the horribly slow and sluggish vaulting. Seriously, the whole point of this guy was that he could vault fast, forcing survivors to change their chase tactics. It was very relaxing, after playing any other killer. Now it's gone, any survivor with half a brain can still loop and lose him in a T+L.
He's not even weak now, just boring. A sad example of killer going from "good concept, imperfect execution" to just boring, uninventive and mediocre.
Legion is not gonna get changed for a long while (that would mean admitting that the new version is a failure), so... just play other killers I guess.
-
Yeah, because exit area teabagging is clearly the biggest problem with this game.
Kill them before they have a chance to do it then there's no reason to talk about this. Failing that, a little teabagging in you face is in order.
Seriously people, how do you lot handle real life if you're so triggered about virtual characters making fun of your virtual character in a video game???
-
So... you basically want to be unhookable for an infinite amount of time?
-
@ArecBalrin you talk too much and too fancy. We just want to ######### with them survivors.
-
"More BP" should be added to survivor section. And Legion buffs? Who cares? Some other killers need it more. I think a killer point should be added too: "better viability on high ranks for low tier killers".
Why do you mention NOED but not camping? Reasonable survivors probably know it's weak already, on the other hand, hard camping bothers a lot of people.
And for both sides: less RNG.
-
Whenever a survivor throws insults at you after a match, you know you did something right. Enjoy it.
-
@darktrix "when is it time to camp"??? I don't need BBQ for this. Because the answer is "when someone is hooked".
-
That's why I want to see survivor ranks in my lobby. I like tunneling the life out of red rank players, but it feels bad to do it to a newbie. Sometimes you can tell easily, but not always; even high rank survivors potato around.
-
It's funny though how killers are more afraid of the dark than survivors :)
-
Ok, @HellRus you're probably new to this game. Please understand: the ONLY reason killers use BBQ is because of the bloodpoints. Otherwise, the aura reading effect is very weak and easily counterable. Plus, it helps to find survivors far from the hook, so it encourages a non-camping playstyle.
If they removed the BP bonus, nobody would touch this perk, because without it it's useless. Plus, such a change would make the grind even more insane than it already is.
Sorry mate, it's a terrible, terrible idea.
-
Yes. I don't remember devs even mentioning this in any apst dev stream, unfortunately. But it's got to go, such a dumb and pointless mechanic. Skill checks is a bad idea... just give a suicide button.
-
Oh then your problem is more complicated than I thought. No idea how to fix it if it's not even speed issue, but packet loss as you say. However, the fact that you got banned for it shows that it's pretty serious: at this point, you need to DC a LOT to get banned for, or you need to lag a LOT too, to have enough reports for devs to ban you. People accuse and report killers for lagswitching all the time for no reason, so I'm sure the devs know to ignore most of these...
Ping indicators in lobby are not helping?
-
Devs have been gradually closing the difficulty balance between for some time. While survivor is still the more relaxing role, now it can be tough sometimes. Unfortunately, for a good ratio of survivors/killers they can't go perfectly balanced. People like easy games. If the remaining balance issues were to be fixed, there would be a lot less survivors and long ass waiting times for killers.
The other reason is BP, but survivor BP gain will soon be increased, so maybe at least this is gonna get fixed, giving some more incentive to play survivor.
-
I'm curious about it too.
If he slugs while the game is on, and you have a chance to get healed up, you shouldn't DC though. If he's slugging for 4K, that's stupid (I mean it's smart but in the PTB is pointless).
-
Looking at the number of hours I played.
-
I'm sorry to say this, but if your ISP is so unreliable, you should either change and get a better one, or if it's not possible, don't play online games. I know it's tough, but you can't just shrug and say "it's not my fault", if as a side effect you also waste the time of a lot of other players.
-
I would suggest screwing with them by not killing yourself. That'll teach them!
-
Ebony Mori (and Ivory Mori too) are very cheap. I got about maybe 200 of them between my killers, don't really use them, and even when I do, it's only after second hook. Yea yea SWF are evil and need to be destroyed, I get that, but the true satisfaction is when you 4K them without a crutch, which an Ebony truly is. If someone brings a key, or I suspect instaheals... maybe. But it's just too much of a gamechanger.
On the other hand, mori animations are great. I'd go for the default ability to kill survivors after they went to struggle (and consider it +1 for "hooking actions" score too, maybe even give stack to Huntress' and activate PGTW). I'm not sure what to do with the offerings, just refund them I guess?
Generally, I think BHVR should just do away with OP offerings and addons. They should just buff base powers of weaker killers, change addon system where you can either have a SLIGHT bonus, or an effect that changes the gameplay (like The Beast: Soot does, or some Doctor addons, old Freddy's Paint Brush and some others).
-
Right. Sentences like "DH saved my ass hundreds of times" or "SC is almost useless now, better take Adrenaline" really makes us wonder which perk the poster is talking about.
...
-
Depends, if you play around rank 10 or below, you can buy her for variety. But anywhere higher than that, just don't: she's one of the most useless killers if survivors know what they're doing, and she doesn't even have decent teachables.
-
Yeah it'd make sense to give some more secret offerings to survivors as well, preferrably something that makes the killer worry a little ... for both fun and fairness.
I second what you say about Vigo's Shroud. I swear I'm always found first whenever I use one.
Additional totems would help ToTH, plus, if survivors are the preventive types, it would give them more work to do aside from gens. NOED's mere existence is helpful to M1 killers: often I see them busily destroying dulls, even though I rarely use any hex perks.
-
I think it's part of the "big picture mindgame" to guess what the opponent has. A Strode Realty Key indicates survivors may have BL, a Léry's offering should make you suspicious about a Pig or a Scratched Mirror Michael, MacMillan offering could mean darkened traps, and so on. So I'd generally oppose the idea. I believe there are better solutions:
- nerf Ebony Mori (along with goddamn keys)
- Extend the DC ban so it also applies when someone DC-s during loading screen.
- (this is my favourite:) add more secret offerings that are no mories, but useful to killer: one that spawns additional dull totems, add Shroud of Union or Shroud of Binding to killer Bloodwebs (completely agree that Shroud of Separation helps survivors instead of hindering them... quite ridiculous)
I'm sure there are other possible solutions, but generally, I wouldn't want all offerings to become secret.
-
Play Nurse.
-
If you can't do at least three gens if the killer is hard camping, Ruin or not... you deserve your fate.
And like oxygen said, hard camping is very rare.
-
Diversion. The most fun perk by far.
-
Ok, you made critical mistakes in both cases. That has very little to do with "toxicity". Especially the first one: you whole team must have been very silly if he could kill you all only because of NOED. Besides, this totem blocking thing is funny. I may try it someday.
Yeah pip system is badly designed, but sometimes there is nothing you can do. Just accept you're not getting any Benevolent score, and move on to your next game.
-
Once a Doc downed me when I was the last one alive. While carrying, he hit a generator, then dropped me. I assumed he wants to let me farm, so when I was on my feet started working on it. Then he downed me instantly and hooked.
After game, he told me all the nearby hooks were used up around the spot he first picked me up, he saw he could not make it, so he pretended he wanted to let me finish the last gen.
Very nice move, I laughed so hard when he explained it. Well played. Scummy, sure, but hey, we're enemies. Anything goes.
-
Ash. Words can't describe how much I hate him. I'm surprised there are people who don't.
I guess it has to do with the fact how bad Evil Dead and Ash vs Evil Dead is. Gore comedy... that's something you enjoy when you're 12. Not something that fits this fine game.
And of course: sandals and socks? That's a crime against humanity.
Second is Feng Min. Squeaks like a rubber toy.
-
Easy fix: repair generators, escape through gates.
I can't believe I have to spell it out for you...
-
Yeah ok, but I mean no one says that. A majority of the community? No way. 9 out of 10 in the forums say he's trash tier, the rest says "ok against loops, helpless against genrush". Which is basically what you're saying, no disagreement here.
-
Clown. A-tier.
Have you played this game other than during free weekends?
-
Utterly misguided. A single survivor is not supposed to have a good chance during EGC... what's so hard to grasp about that? You have very good chances of survival as a group. Alone, no. That's the whole concept of an asymmetric game.
Sorry, but you're talking out of frustration, I'm guessing due to having been sacrificed one too many times. It's stressful, I know, but any of your suggestions would provide an easy, undeserved escape. Which the hatch already offers, if you're lucky.
-
That's when we found herm about a year ago.
This is a little more recent.
I named her Godzilla, because she acts like one :)

See, posts like this one are why there should still be an option to vote down.
@ElusivePukka I have a better idea: have everyone register with their Steam account and display the number of played hours above every post. If a 50 hour poster said something silly, it would be forgivable. But if it's someone with over 1500 h, we'd know it's time to ridicule them to ashes :)
