  • Endgame is not a problem. It's a solution.

  • We would see a sharp increase of disconnects, and bad players.

The occasional free weekend sounds fine, to get those people who like the game enough to play seriously (and pay for it; hey, it's cheap!).

  • No way a missed skillcheck is 15%. Not even 10.

  • If 9 out of 10 of your games are laggy, the problem is probably on your side. Not necessarily bad connection, but maybe location or some other issue.

  • I propose replacing the lullaby with authentic Austrian Yodel.

  • Nah, we don't need more moderation. We need smarter people.

  • Ok, this is ridiculous. About 80% of postgame chat is either friendly, or at least neutral. As for the rest, if you're so emotionally vulnerable, how is it so much effort to CLICK ONCE to make it go away? Do you even hear yourself? "Wee my feelings are hurt by insults from random losers and the unbearable burden of clicking on close"

Jesus man. Do you really think it's worth a post?

Wish there was safe pip compensation guarantee if anyone disconnects within first 10 minutes of game.

First 10 minutes??? Matches don't even last that long.

  • I'd actually pay for bug fix patches and balance updates. Too bad the business model builds more on pointless stuff like cosmetics.

What about a weakened version of Kindred? Rather than giving Survivors exact location of the Killer, it only gives them a simple notification of when the Survivor is within a certain range of the hook (like maybe the hook changes color)?

I don't know... frankly, lately I trust the devs more to make relatively balanced (if imperfect) changes, than any of us professional forum whiners.

@George_Soros A measure of a killer's skill is being able to take control of that clock. It's not a luxury to allow healing, it's a thrill. This 'tunneling isn't cheap' nonsense is exactly what I hear from fellow killers who can't be assed to improve their own skill.

I'm not saying play nice. I'm saying be good enough that they know you could play dirty, but don't have to. That's where real domination happens, when they know they're beaten despite having all the 'crutches' and seconds chances they possibly can.

Ah, ok then. I guess we just draw the line differently between "cheap" and "ok". For me, cheap starts at a mori. Tunneling is well within the limits. But I'll stop now. Cheers.

  • @ElusivePukka God I can't resist arguing. Oh well.

You need to understand, killers are constantly on the clock. We can rarely catch a break. Unless we constantly put pressure on survivors, we're lost. One survivor out of the game early means a solid 25% decrease in repair speed, giving us some much needed room to breathe. In theory, it sounds nice to "give them time to recover", and sometimes, when I realize I'm facing very casual players I do that. But it's a luxury we cannot afford on high ranks. And by the way, this "tunneling is cheap" attitude is exactly what I hear from survivors who can't get over a loss. It's just an excuse to explain themselves why they lost. Not that I don't curse "goddamn crutch Adrenaline" sometimes, but let's face it: these are just made up excuses, meant to make us feel better about ourselves (and they fail at that btw).

Most importantly: a game is not fun if everyone tries to play nice. The reason I'm always advertising the most possible sweaty-tryhard-dirty gameplay is because that's where real excitement is. Other than actual cheating, lagswitching, etc, ANYTHING that's possible is allowed. Bring your best perks, items, whatever, I'll do the same. I will stop at nothing to annihilate you... and I expect you to play in the same fashion. Anything less than that, and I might as well play Pony Farm Builder 2 in coop mode. Boring. It's a game. The whole point of it is that I can do things I always wanted, but can't in real life: removing people's faces with a chainsaw, eating their livers, you know, fun stuff. So... there isn't really any argument to hold me back from doing these things in a virtual environment at least. *Sigh*

Oh and just a little note about Devour: just like Ruin, it's not really an "earned" thing. No Hex perks are. If it gets found early, then survivors gain advantage purely because of luck. If it does not, killer does. Nothing to do with "skill" or whatever. Unfortunately, Hex perks are horribly RNG.

@George_Soros kills aren't victory at all. You can get a 4k and depip.

Kills and chases, I'm not gonna get into a subjective and semantic debate over which part is 'the fun part of the game'. Don't let toxic Youtubers and streamers deceive you with notions of "salt = fun." All that says is these people have little excitement outside the game. You want to destroy survivors? Get good enough that you make them thank you for not killing them sooner, rather than pretending that cheap tactics show you're either skilled or worthy of victory.

Heh. Pips have nothing to do with victory, a sweet 4K does. But yeah I agree that there are cheap ways and fair (or even stylish!) ways of doing it. I hate moris more than survivors do, I mean I use them but only after second hook. Likewise, camping is just meh... Dead By Boredom. But none of this means that "victory" has any other criteria than killing survivors. That's why I frown at criticism thrown at tunneling. I know it's frustrating for the target, but hey, if someone so much dislikes being killed, maybe they should play a game where, you know, you don't get killed? The best and most objective measurement of how well you're doing as a killer is the number of survivors killed. You know, making the world a better place.

I think you are missing the point my friend. Swf is ALREADY breaking the game. There is really no way around to give solos some buffs to compensate the lack of voice communication. Cuz voice communication is the strongest tool a swf team can have and sadly there is no way to avoid/ban voice coms

Well, we can agree to disagree, and I admit I'm at loss as to how to solve the problem better. In the past I cried as much about changes as the next forum troglodyte, but somehowalways managed to adapt... the game is still great. So I'm not saying if baseline Kindred will happen, it's automatic uninstall for me. But I can't help thinking about a better way to do it than just handing out a free perk to everyone.

  • Partly yes. But I honestly think it's way too strong. It might make a little more sense to give them the ability to see each others' auras. But to track the killer for free? Closing the gap between SWF and solo shouldn't break the game.

  • @LordGlint said:

@George_Soros Im gonna disagree with you on this. Saying this encourages sandbagging is like saying the 1000 hatchet throws for huntress encourages standing by a locker for the whole game and chucking hatchets at a wall until the last survivor leaves. Some ppl might do it to try to rush the achievement, but its not really practical if your trying to play the game.

The "protection" score event only registers if both survivors and the killer are within 8m of the hook when the killer hits the rescuer. It's a textbook case of sandbagging/killing/farming your fellow survivor.

EDIT: I should know. I've done it 250 times :)

  • @SirClaver I seriously don't understand: why don't you cleanse the NOED totem???

EDIT I'm not even saying "cleanse dulls, duh", all five of them can be difficult if no SWF. But for Christ's sake, once it's lit, it takes only a little bit of luck plus 16 seconds to neutralize it.

If you played any game beyond rank 20, you know that if the killer has not hooked anyone during game, NOED will not land him any kills. Cleanse NOED totem, save teammate with BT, even if you nobody has BT, with a little effort, the other survivors can gang up and bodyblock the killer so he won't be able to down the unhooked survivor.

NOED is a weak perk. If your teammates don't help you out there, that's on them, not the killer, and not the perk.

  • Hah, you got me there! For a moment, I think you were serious about it.

  • This is by far the dumbassest achievement in the game. It litereally encourages you to do the stupidest kind of rescue possible: rush immediately when killer is hooking, take a hit, unhook, take another hit. And 250 of them. Actual protection hits (helping an injured survivor during a chase) don't count, only hits during/after unhooking.

Was a real pain to get this, and it leads to a lot of sandbagging.

  • Wait what? I play killer for thousands of hours, most survivors always seemed to be bots. Hook, count down from ten, unhook. T/L walls: vault, run, vault, vault back, smack. Also there's some automated message I always receive at the end: "CAMPER NOOB". I don't know what it means; I don't speak binary.

  • Doc should be looked at before LF. LF has some useless addons, purple ones included. Those must be fixed, I agree. But Doc badly needs some changes too, although for him some tweaking with values should suffice: base shock is just too short range, and maybe snapping out could take half a breath longer.

Nurse change... completely unnecessary. If they change her basekit, they'll just prove they listen to lazy survivors too much.

  • @ElusivePukka said:

People who regard tunnels as 'effective strategy' are people who mistake kills for victory. You have four emblems to fill, not just one. They get easier with a kill, but they get even easier if you learn to take the blinders off and play intelligently.

@ElusivePukka kills ARE victory. If I onehook everyone and they all die, I won. If I have a lot of chases, hook everyone two times, but in the end they all escape, I failed miserably. Eliminating people is the fun part of the game. Don't let the devs deceive you with their false ideas about "emblems" and "rank". These more or less reward a play-nicey style, which is boring. I want to utterly destroy survivors. Survivors should work to make me fail. That's what a real fun game is about.

Or do you prefer farming? Ugh.

@George_Soros Just because some killers are good at camping and that they believe it is a fun experience for them, does not mean it is good for the overall health of the game. It would be quite greedy of a camping killer to consider their (lack of) gameplay to beyond the means of balance, wouldn't you agree?

I'm not sure. Other people's fun is not my responsibility, and it's not like there's so much camping in this game (most complaints about it are not valid). I personally tested if it works, it did work, it WAS fun (maybe not for the survivor who I tunneled to oblivion but that's his problem), but this kind of thing gets boring after a while.

Still, camping is the same as NOED in one aspect: the great thing about NOED, is that I never have to run it, but still some survivors are worried enough about it to waste time with totems. Likewise, if they suspect the killer is camping, they waste more time approaching the hook in a more stealthy way. Whereas if Kindred was made baseline, it would effectively make camping impossible. Which is not a problem because camping is such a great thing to do, but because survivors will KNOW you're not doing it, so they can always rush for those silly (almost-)instasaves. Don't forget, while survivors have a lot of counters to killer aura reading, killers have literally NOTHING to counter survivors' aura reading perks. Give not one but THREE survivors free aura reading, even if killer leaves the 16 m radius, they'll know which way he's headed. Way too strong effect to be given freely.

Btw I'm very strongly in support of bringing SWF and solo players closer. But that's not the way to do it.

  • At least a dozen times. Make it over two dozens, if we include "LAGSWITCHER" :)

  • Kate and Jane. The rest are meh or downright ugly.

  • Pop Goes The Weasel activating even when all gens are done. Drives me mad.

Also, se05239 posted about how Clown is the only one who makes a loud groan when vaulting, messing up his mindgame potential. Though I gotta say, the sound is nice.

  • It's the same non-problem as complaints about hitboxes. Either people don't know the difference between medium vault and fast vault, in which case the complaint is baseless, or in other cases, it's latency, which can indeed help the killer in an unfair way, but that's generally not something up to the devs, rather individual players' connections.

Oh, and then there are those who completely refuse to accept that someone can reach through a window. Not much to comment on that one.

  • Would be nonsensical. Giving everyone, every time my exact location within 16 m of a hooked survivors, for free? Crazy idea. Camping is scummy I know, but some killers are very good at it. I had a lot of fun at times with Wraith, downing the same guy again and again, fresh off the hook until died. If he has Kindred, then it's fair game, and I get punished for it. But a free Kindred would kill certain fun playstyles. So glad the devs ditched this silly idea.

  • A middle finger would be nice. Or a pelvic thrust.

  • Oh yes. DC-s are gonna be less of a problem once we get dedicated servers. Supposedly... but I tend to trust the devs about this particular promise. Ragequits are a problem beyond effecting a lot more than adept achievements.

  • Assuming it's INTENDED by the devs is a huge stretch. Yeah, killer should be somewhat compensated for survivors DC-ing, but giving near full BP and emblem score would heavily encourage camping, so it's a no.

So, I understand you're upset about it, but saying this is exactly what the devs want... don't be a drama queen!

  • Just keep trying. Some of these are frustrating, but you'll get them eventually. Unfortunately, your success mostly depends on how potato survivors are. If they are genrushing like they should, you'll lose too much on Gatekeeper.

Go for the difficult ones right after rank reset.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

Please don't use the term "Blitzkrieg". This is really offensive, at least from an European point of view.

    No it's not.

  • I have a much more simple solution. Change BP reward for unhooking someone to 0. The result would be 3 escapes in most cases.

  • @twistedmonkey is onto something here. Love it or hate it, a purely, or 90% stealth game would be a different game at this point. Would probably make a number of old players leave.

I wish there was such a game around though... like a multiplayer version of Thief... what a series that was!

Oh and one more note: guys, you're wrong saying "looping requires skill and planning", and saying "stealth requires skill and planning". The real masterful move is always getting chased, not getting hit, and losing the killer at some point. Which is a healthy mix of two.

  • I enjoy stealth. It's not boring. Boring is that moment when, for the 1000th time "oh Hillbilly found me, let's run for that broken building in Wretched Shop and run around it for half an hour, until the poor idiot has enough of it". Boring and stupid.

DaS_only please understand, nobody says "chases should be removed", that would be silly. LOOPING, and the fact that killer collision is bigger than survivor, that is painfully stupid. But don't you worry, I'm positive it will not be changed, players are too used to it at this point.

Lol no offense taken. I have 4 p3 killers and p3 Claudette with max perks. Idk how many hours I have since I play console but it’s definitely somewhere around 1000. I definitely wouldn’t call myself a movie since I’ve played since it came out on PS4. I’m a rank 1 billy main so idk if it’s different for other killers but bbq and chili is definitely essential for me and makes my games a lot easier and quicker. Plus the only things that can counter aura reading is just lockers and that 1 perk I can’t remember the name of?

@RyGuy0310 oh sorry then. And yeah if you play Billy, that's a little different story, you'll be on their ass in a heartbeat (although lockers and Distortion are still options). But then again, if a survivor is experienced, they'll know a Billy is exactly the killer who probably does have BBQ, and fast enough to be a threat from a distance, so they should hide. And then there are those truly skilled survivors who know even better: DON'T hide from BBQ, otherwise you encourage killer to camp.

But anyway, like others said, Nurse and Billy can utilize BBQ to its maximum, and yet even then, I'd say there are much better perks. I'd love to see some other perks with similar farming potential, but different effect.

  • You'd be wrong. Millions of ways to counter aura reading, long distance, even if a survivor does get spotted, they have plenty of time to vacate the area.

You sound a little like a new player (no disrespect meant, honest), let me give this friendly advice: if you want strong perks, forget about BBQ. It's only good for farming BP.

  • @Rizzo said:

Ok let's tone it down, attacking each other won't solve anything.

Some people enjoy chases, others enjoy stealth, there's no need to call the other part names.

Come on Rizzo, let us all go up in flames!!!!

    ;)

Anyway, @SunderMun and others: some of us actually enjoy playing the evil side (survivor, obviously) in a stealthy way. Urban E and stealth in general often receives a lot of flak, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who enjoys those moments when I Urban around some tree log, barely bigger than my character size, while the killer is so close I could bite his ass... but he doesn't find me and just leaves. This can be as tense as a tight chase.

In the game's defense though, as survivor, you're quite free to pick your perks and decide whether to play a sneaky game or a bold one.

  • @se05239 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/595988#Comment_595988

Wouldn't just removing the sound altogether mix all the issues to begin with?

Well, yes, that would be the obvious and simple fix. I was just thinking about potential mindgames with such a "press x to groan" option.

  • @SenzuDuck , you say: "Have fun in an empty map with survivors running in straight lines and going down instantly, sounds super exciting.Sorry, but anyone who thinks "removing looping" is good for the game has absolutely no clue."

I disagree: the game gives options (and it should give more) to lose the killer during a chase. Dance With Me + Lithe combo is great (and stylish too!), there are some plays with Quick and Quiet, Urban; and, if you have enough distance, simply stopping running and hiding may be an option. But there's some truth to what @prayer_survivor says, with so many detection perks for killers, it can be tough.

That doesn't change the fact though that Looping. Is. Stupid. Mostly the "survivors are slim, killers are fat" aspect. Just doesn't make sense, and not worthy of a horror(ish) game. Understand, survivors being able to vault faster, drop pallets is fine, it's a good concept: killers are faster, survivors are more agile. But the size difference is horribly annoying.

It's going to stay though. If we want more stealth... we have to find another game. Sorry Gardenia.

  • Simple. The game needs about 3,5 times as many survivors as killers. Survivors enjoy chases more than stealth. Gotta cater for their wishes too. And yes, I agree looping is stupid, yes I wish stealth was more of a thing. But most people are not patient enough for it, so... looping is gonna stay.

  • It would be fun. A lot of you are saying how unbalanced the game is, and it's true. But it wouldn't have to be a very serious event (symbolic prizes rather than heaps of cash). Anyone entering the tournament would know and accept that it is not "fair" in a professional way, that wouldn't make it less entertaining. Participants would still struggle to win more than just normal games.

I'd definitely support such an idea.

  • Lol right. Or if those bastards catch you when you're on generator duty, and hook you. That denies you points too. Unacceptable.

  • So many times I gave up even trying to make them double vaults, exactly because of that :( The sound makes sense realism wise, him being the amorphous blob that he is, but it still hinders him.

I propose a different fix: add a hotkey to make a groaning sound at will, the same that he makes when vaulting! It would fit his overall character anyway (yes I mean the pervert murderer aspect), and it could fool survivors. Not to mention the meme potential.

  • Only for disconnects. Yeah a lot of us would DC just to get it (hey it's free cosmetics!), but there are harmless ways of DC: namely, when you DC on your last hook, or a second before the end of the game.

1 2 3 4 … 41
