They'll reappear occasionally in the Shrine of Secrets, albeit with the icons and descriptions edited to remove all references to Stranger Things.

The same thing that happened with Bill's and the NOES perks before they were multi-platform.

I played on PS4 at one point though - Bill’s perks were base and could be obtained on any Survivor.

IDK what the case is now he himself is on console platforms. But if the Stranger Things perks are gonna be in the Shrine only then the people who don’t have ST oughta kiss their chance to get them sweet goodbye knowing how the Shrine behaves.

Yeah if you can stack it with other perks it's fine if that's the build you want. But you are probably better off bringing almost any other perk.

Also don't bring Green and Yellow pins. They don't work together. You hit someone, apply broken and mangled for 60 seconds. They can't be healed for 60 seconds because they are broken and after those 60 seconds are gone they are no longer mangled. Makes it so your yellow add on never actually does anything

Actually the developers removed the time limit on the Mangled effect (or at least removed it from the description), so when you apply Broken to a chained stab on a KI-mark, I believe they are still mangled afterwards until they heal.

It’s a decent chunk of slowdown. 60 seconds no healing with a stack of Thanatophobia to boot, plus increased healing time due to Dying Light and Mangled. Not counting the Obsession’s help of course.

Edit: oops didn’t realise someone already said this. My bad lol

  • @Steah said:

Never use this perk unless you are stacking slowdown perks. Dying Light is the worst killer perk. M.Shrine may do nothing, but at least it doesn't give the Obsession a free Botany Knowledge

I stack it with Thanatophobia. I particularly like to do this with double-pin Legion (mangled + broken pins).

  • Releasing DBD to consoles to begin with was a huge mistake. The game at that point had the visual fidelity of an early PS3 title but still performed abysmally on current-gen consoles

Further going on and releasing the game on an underpowered portable console was an even worse idea. The Switch was already far-and-wide demonstrated to be pathetically weak in the face of other modern-day consoles. Just look at MK11 Switch, the gameplay itself is slowed down so that it can “run” at 60fps, and the game looks like ass. The speed of the game itself is literally throttled because the Switch can’t manage it in 60fps, which is required for fighting games.

And with the game’s performance on PS4+Xbox One, they still went ahead and put it on the Switch? Unbelievable.

If BHVR do genuinely go ahead and tell people to upgrade to PS5/Xbox Series for better performance because they can’t optimise it for current-gen, that possibly is going to be court-worthy because they’re acknowledging their game can’t run on the consoles they were released on, and they can’t fix it.

It’s becoming Cyberpunk 2077 all over again.

Fixed? They heavily nerfed it. It serves no point. The killers refused to stop tunneling and complained enough for the devs to nerf it.

No. The perk serves its purpose - anti-tunnel. In my opinion it could use a +1 on usages per Survivor, so a Survivor can use it once for every time they can get unhooked instead of once per trial.

But being able to sit on a generator unpunished was game breaking.

Being able to reset a chase for nothing except one perk slot was also game breaking.

Now Decisive Strike is good, and fair. It should have a double-usage in my opinion, but we still don’t need a perk to replace any of its extremely broken previous versions.

  • @ALostPuppy said:

If we're right about how this game was developed, it'd be pretty easy for them to mess things up. DbD is built on a really bad foundation, to the point where even the smallest changes they make to the game have an extremely high chance of screwing up 50 other things. This happens with almost every other company's games, but they're not even close to the level of DbD's instability. It's getting to the point where it's almost unsalvageable. They need to do a full optimisation of their game soon before it becomes too big of a task.

I’ve been saying for years they need to conduct an Operation Health. The more they add to the game, the more costly and time consuming a major balance and game health overhaul will be.

I’m afraid it’s already too late now… which is a damn shame.

  • Spaghetti code is a root cause for performance issues and breaks in areas of the game that are completely unrelated to the changes made.

It may not be the only cause or reason for poor game health with every update, but there’s no doubt it is a major one.

  • @aroell said:

It’s a fair and balanced perk, much needed after decisive strike nerf.

We don’t need a new perk to replace something that was obscenely broken. There is a reason for why the developers fixed Decisive Strike.

  • @GannTM said:

It’s very saddening because it’s gotten to the point where they just don’t care about the players and only care about the revenue.

It was at that point already when they added the F2P-style storefront in their P2P game - three years ago, on June 12 2018, when they released Curtain Call.

They just started going even further beyond that point, chapter after chapter, releasing more cosmetic drops than patches for bug fixes and balances.

  • Perk 1: Paranoia

    You don’t like being watched.

When a Survivor looks at you directly, gain a directional detection pulse for 3 seconds.

Once Paranoia triggers, it undergoes a 15-second cooldown.

    “Don’t look at me…”

    Perk 2: That’s Enough

There is only so much you can take before snapping.

After being stunned or blinded, gain a token. Upon receiving five tokens, That’s Enough activates. The next Survivor to perform a stun or blind will suffer from the Doomed (new, see comment footnote) status effect for 30 seconds.

If the afflicted Survivor is not killed, That’s Enough resets to 0 tokens. That’s Enough deactivates permanently when any one Survivor has died, by any means. Disconnections do not count.

“I’m better off inside a cell.”

    Perk 3: Overpowering

    You’re stronger than you realise.

Overpowering starts off inactive, with four tokens. Upon landing any basic attack, Overpowering consumes a token and activates.

When active, the next basic attack will immediately put a Survivor into the Dying State. A basic attack that downs a Survivor will not activate Overpowering.

“And I hit him… harder than I knew I could. Too hard. He ever woke up again.”

Directional Detection Pulse: The same as The Ghost Face’s indicator when being looked at by a Survivor. Not Killer Instinct, but the detection pulse.

Doomed Status Effect: You’ve angered something and it wants you dead.

The Doomed Status Effect possesses a similar icon to the Exposed Status Effect, but the colour scheme is flipped and the skull is split in two halves. The icon also pulses with a red vignette. The Survivor’s animations change to be more agitated and fearful.

A Survivor in the Dying State afflicted with the Doomed Status Effect can be killed by the Killer’s hand.

    Doomed Status Effect is applied by;

    • Cypress, Ivory, Ebony Memento Mori offerings when the Survivor meets the conditions.
    • Hex: Devour Hope with five (5) tokens.
    • That’s Enough, when a Survivor triggers it.

  • Decisive Strike’s skill check should be slightly delayed so the Killer gets a chance to drop the Survivor if they picked them up by accident or are forced to grab them (ie, locker, vault, chest, “CJ tech”). But not delayed enough so much that the Killer can hook the Survivor while the skill check is running.

What Killer do you use, do you use any addons, and how many hours do you have in the game?

Also what does Konchok define as a win? Kills or hooks, how many of each, or a different win condition?

  • @katerbater said:

wait... why doesn't deathslinger have a lullaby? he's also a ranged killer.

I question the same thing because he is definitely more dangerous than Trickster who does have a lullaby, and he himself doesn’t.

He makes an absolutely terrifying stealth killer as well with a very low Terror Radius using an assortment of perks and an add-on.

  • As Killer, several generators within a couple minutes. I even question if the Survivors themselves are having fun with matches as short as queue+loading times are long.

As Survivor, dumbass teammates, Hag, or Deathslinger.

  • I’d completely remove the ability to hear Survivor breathing and grunts, irregardless of Stridor, and rework Father’s Glasses. Literally nothing else. That’s all that needs to be changed.

Edit: Of course something should be offered in exchange. I reckon the phasing sound effect should be removed on her side so Spirit could hear footsteps more clearly since now she can’t hear breathing, and an increase to phasing speed, recharge, and duration back to how it was during her release.

  • The developers were going to make individual Killers run on skill based MMR. To date they still haven’t done Jack #########. It’s annoying really.

  • @CantDeadHarder said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2230518#Comment_2230518

BT got changed because stealth killers would camp the hook, rendering all saves unsafe. Killers caused this one on themselves.

Borrowed Time was going to be unbound from the terror radius and instead of making it a static distance, they completely removed it and Survivors get 12s invulnerability no matter what. It’s not an anti-camp perk anymore, it’s a pro-bad gameplay perk.

  • It’s Borrowed Time. It’s meant to protect the unhooked. What are they borrowing from?

When a Survivor is rescued with Borrowed Time the rescuer should be Exposed for 24s, twice as long as the Endurance status effect lasts. This punishes stupid hook bumrushing from Survivors who can tank a hit, and prevent the rescued Survivor from keeping their stupid teammate safe from damage by tanking a hit.

The new Borrowed Time is rewarding Survivors for playing unsafe. It’s gone so far that I’ve noticed an increase in Survivors doing unsafe saves without even having Borrowed Time, maybe hoping for a Decisive Strike that isn’t there to begin with.

So what if you get camped because the perk gets “butchered” like Decisive Strike? It’s part of the game, move on. You aren’t meant to escape or 4K every single game anyway, that’s how an Asymmetrical works.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

All the time people say that Hex-Totems get cleansed in 30 seconds, yet Ruin is still one of the most used Perks (even without Undying). And before its change, it was in basically every Match, despite Spawns being worse.

Hex-Spawns are probably not as bad as people want to make them. There are also a lot of really good Spawns. But nobody talks about those.

When it comes to Survivors spawning next to Hex-Totems - Maps only have a limited space. And the smaller the Map is (and some got their size reduced around a year ago), the more likely things are cramped together. So it is unavoidable that Survivors spawn next to Totems and the chance that this Totem will be the Hex is 20%, which is also not small.

“The chance that this totem will be the hex is 20% which is not small.”

Then why don’t they add more totems to the trial, each trial? 5-10 totems chosen at random, with a lower minimum of 6 if any Hex totem is in the Killer’s load out, and a maximum of 5 if they are using Hex: No One Escapes Death, tuning perks like Hex: Thrill Of The Hunt and Small Game accordingly? Increasing totems per trial can go hand-in-hand with the addition of Boon perks. Then they adjust the Hex spawn conditions so that they are guaranteed to never spawn next to a Survivor spawn, OR alternatively make Hex Totems stay unlit for the first 60 seconds of the match, OR make it so that if a Hex totem is cleansed within 60s of the match starting, it automatically moves to another totem, in addition with an increase to the totem amount per trial.

There are so many ways for BHVR to mitigate the ‘cleansed before I can do anything about it unless I’m playing extremely specific Killers because the Survivors spawn on top of my totem literally across the map’ issue rather than outright ignoring it for several years.

  • Trapper + Haddonfield bro my favourite map bro. Trap them Myers House windows and the Survivors ain’t so cocky no more, since there’s nowhere else for the traps to go except someone’s leg. And that someone gets a trip to the basement.

In all seriousness now, my go-to Killers are Wraith, Bubba, and Demogorgon. I love playing each of them, don’t even care if I lose.

  • I’ve gone ahead and purchased Blight!

And I do not regret it. I might be three matches new to him but damn if the Blight isn’t a fun Killer. He’s that fun in fact that I don’t even get upset when I’m getting stomped by the Survivors.

Thank you for the advice everybody.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

Sad fact: Even without cooldown / hex, it would still be bad perk. It needs range increase as well.

Realistically all it does is save Survivors from shaky-handsing into dropping the pallet when they get hit, if not completely stop a hit trade because the pallet doesn’t go down. It also stops newbies from rushing their pallet and dropping it while the Killer is in cooldown.

The effect as it is more often rewards the Survivor when the perk procs, rather than the Killer running the perk, who later has to deal with that exact same pallet which could make or break the entire game plan.

Are you on PC or Console? If PC then Blight is a scary killer even with basic Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer combo.

If console, then I'd say Executioner. The other killers require aiming which can be problematic on console. Blight got improved its hard to control on console. Same thing with Trickster and Darthslinger with aiming. Twins and Oni are in a similar boat as well.

Ah yes I forgot to clarify that - I am on PC. Will edit it in.

The effect is cool but somehow they managed to add even longer cooldowns.

Dragon's Grip's and Oppression's 80 second cooldown has to be reduced.

Now we have Erruption with a 90 second cooldown for some reason.

Cooldowns - the poor man’s way of “balancing” things.

I could make an entire video essay on how prolific BHVR are about cooldowns. It wouldn’t be so bad if they did it more often to the Survivors’ side equally towards the Killers’, but it would be significantly better if cooldowns weren’t so widespread to begin with.

  • The only reason you would get punished for letting Survivors live is if you are directly working with the other Survivors to harass, bully, or kill somebody on their team. Besides that no, you will not be punished for showing mercy to the Survivors you haven’t killed yet.

  • That’s a whole lotta faith, mate.

  • @LazyPayday said:

Someone was discussing giving killers the option to just change their fov and not have it limited to a perk. So I got to thinking, what would new shadowborn do? Here's what I came up with, while under the effect of insidious, your movement speed is increased by 3/4/5%, lowers back down when in a chase or insidious is loss.

To be honest, I don't really think this would be incredibly broken, the chase part is really only there for Ghostface as he's the only killer I can think of who's basekit allows him to be insidious while also in chase. It'd promote stealth killers more and be a good addition to stealth builds without ever being broken.

What do you think? Something I'm missing like it'd be broken or weak?

I might have been in that thread you mentioned, in which I suggested Shadowborn could give a Ghost Face style visual indicator when a Survivor is looking at the Killer directly, of course with a reasonable cooldown. I still stand by that idea of mine - it wouldn’t be meta, it wouldn’t be overpowered, as it only gives the detection screen pulse symbol and not the Survivor’s exact location, and has a cooldown. How much cooldown I’m not sure, maybe ten or fifteen seconds. Having ‘general direction’ when looked at isn’t worth a 60-second cooldown period like every other Killer perk that has one.

It’d be like a ‘reverse Premonition’.

  • @CoalTower said:

No. Then every Shadowborn nurse would have to relearn her muscle memory, which I'd rather not do. Shadowborn is fine right where it is.

‘Shadowborn is fine right where it is’, as the sole purpose of removing a core visual setting?

  • Decisive Strike - it procs and can be used both unhooks, so the Killer can be DS’d twice and not just once.

It’s a true anti-tunnel perk now but getting stabbed once isn’t going to deter true tunnellers, because they know they’re going to be unpunished if they keep doing it. Getting DS’d twice for true tunnelling will really deter them or punish them appropriately.

I’ve been saying this since DS got fixed. Now it isn’t obscenely busted it should be usable several times.

  • I hated his guts seeing him half of my games as Survivor, but now I really really miss him. I don’t see him around anymore.

    ”Minor changes” my balls.

  • I think this is a great idea. Survivors need more ways to earn points and this concept, 500 Objective points per 30s of chase, sounds very good.

The imbalance of the two, the huge advantage BBQ gives is very concerning for me. A survivor perk used as much as BBQ would be met with the almighty nerf hammer already.

With regards to the nerf hammer - I doubt that, Sluzzy.

I do agree however that BBQ&C having aura reading can make it very strong on Killers with great mobility, ie Blight, Nurse, Hillbilly, etc. But outside of these specific cases where it permits immediate “snowballing” from one hook, it serves a good purpose to discourage hook camping. Even so, you can dodge BBQ - get in a locker, hide behind a generator, or find a safe hard-to-reach loop or zone that discourages the Killer from going after you to begin with.

Would you rather the Killer staring at and slapping you on the hook for two minutes, or going after somebody else giving you the chance to get out?

Yeah my worst example was all four survivors spawning against the exit in Gideon's meat plant. We had no direction to go but forward. Literally as we were crossing the threshold to leave the room, Freddy's terror radius started rapidly approaching. Six seconds. Six. And again, this happens to me almost constantly. That one was just the most egregious example. I've actually contacted the devs to let them know that it's happening but I don't think anything will be done about it, especially since it seems that few people actually encounter or notice the issue. But yeah, it sucks. "Okay, so I'm playing in the Red Forest. That's cool, I really like this m- oh okay, time to hide. Oh look, we all scattered and the killer just happened to choose me. Well, I'm down within 30 seconds of the start of the match. This is fun".

The last time I got a survivor ritual was also a couple of weeks ago, I believe it was being chased for 3 minutes as Heather. Since then it's been "down 4 people with Blight's power", "catch 5 people in bear traps", etc. I mean that's alright I guess, I just wish there was more variety. I wonder if everyone gets the same rituals every day or if it's completely randomized for all players.

Thing is that at some point, spawning directly in front of the Killer’s path was really funny. Like this clip.

    https://youtu.be/FQRqMcSQuO4

Nowadays? It’s nearly every singular match that I am being the first person found or chased. It’s to the point I let the Killer kill me straight away because I’m getting sick of being the first one tunnelled out of the match. I actually started running Decisive Strike when it got its rework just to mitigate this stupidity, but the fact Survivors howled for ######### blood just because their cancer perk has been fixed (ie, is not obscenely and gamebreakingly broken) has exacerbated the tunnelling issue all over again.

I love this game and I want to keep playing it, and I want to start enjoying the role I don’t play as often by sheer happenstance because literally everything is trying to force me into the Killer role that I don’t want to play as much anymore. But I can’t enjoy it when I don’t get the chance to play the role I want to play. It’s especially worse now that it can take up to ten minutes to get into a match, into five minutes of loading, and two minutes on the hook into a death, starting all over again, when I oftentimes only have three hours a day three times a week to play, sometimes more if I’m lucky.

At least now I’m finding time to do more than only burning my Resin in Genshin Impact, and playing my PS4 before my Plus subscription runs out next month.

  • @miketheratguy said:

I keep being spawned within probably 100 feet of the killer. 7 or 8 matches out of ten I can wander in any direction upon starting the game and hear the terror radius creep in within ten seconds (my record, which I still have video of, is six). I'm so sick of it. Hell with finding a generator, I would at least like to have a chance to actually explore my surroundings for a minute or even get to leave the first room before the killer closes in.

This actually happens to me all the ######### time. And I’ve grown sick of it that I’ve completely stopped playing the game.

I’m bored of playing as Killer and being forced into doing so because every daily rite I get is always a Killer rite. I haven’t gotten a single Survivor rite for two entire weeks, even recycling my current one each day. I just want to play Survivor but the rank reset was botched and now I’m stuck with tunnellers, campers, and ‘doing gens, you?’ teammates.

  • @Phasmamain said:

Yeah. You could argue without stridor she’s fine but stridor on her is clearly broken

Thats exactly why I say the Spirit shouldn’t be able to hear breathing or pain sounds when she’s phasing. This is the bare minimum nerf she needs, nothing more than that.

  • I think they should pin this post but I suppose I understand why they won’t.

  • The primary issue with Legion is that they get passively affected by changes made to the Deep Wound mechanic. This is because the developers made the Legion’s unique mechanic a baseline mechanic for Survivor perks, and added it to other Killers for no reason - Deathslinger for example. In his case the deep wounds mechanic is kind of fine but it still has no reason to be there.

The developers used the Legion to beta test a Borrowed Time rework. Argue against it but that is exactly what happened, and since Deep Wounds, which is more connected to Survivor abilities (BT, Styptic, Soul Guard) is a core aspect of their power.

Outside of a complete overhaul and redesigning, I would opt to remove Deep Wounds and make Feral Frenzy apply the Incapacitated status effect when a Survivor gets hit in addition to making them Injured, and otherwise remain the same in every other regard. Incapacitated stops them from working on generators and doing a bunch of other actions like healing, sabotage, totems, etc, but does not disable any chase mechanics, which overall lets Legion keep their ability as a slowdown Killer. I’d also remove the power gauge depletion when a Survivor is hit with a basic M1, reduce the cooldown period back to 3s instead of 4s, and increase the recovery speed of the power.

In terms of a total overhaul? How about not falsely advertising and giving Legion a power like what they demonstrate in their trailer - to take off their mask and fake being a Survivor, being able to get close to them and suddenly attacking when they put the mask back on. This would take a whole lot of effort to make and balance appropriately so I doubt anything of the sort would ever happen at all but we could only dream.

  • An easy solution to the ’too small FOV’ issue would be to make Shadowborn’s FOV increase default, balance around the new FOV such as with Killer camera perspective changes or something like that, and work the perk into something else. Change Monitor’s FOV as well, maybe just outright remove it since the perk is decent with the terror radius effect alone.

Shadowborn could be changed to, maybe increase the brightness of the Killer’s view, or give a Ghost Face style visual indicator when a Survivor is looking at the Killer directly, with a cooldown period of course.

To simply tell people to not play a game that they paid money for and probably can no longer get a refund on, over the lack of a setting, is one of the most inane (edit: this was not a typo - I-N-A-N-E) arguments I have ever seen on this forum. Why should people lose their money because the developers refuse to make their game accessible over ‘competitive advantages’ in a non-competitive game? This is colourblind settings all over again, and those took a pathetically long time - five god damned years - to be added to the game and even then it was half-assed and could have been done with so little effort so long ago.

I'm sure that if going f2p were to benefit behavior more than their current model they would have done it by now. I don't doubt their ability of going f2p. They just don't want to, or at least they have shown no interest in doing so.

The game has been out for years and so far they have kept it as it is.

But who knows, maybe they have something in the works, but as far as I can see it looks like they have their hands full with pumping out the next chapter, making more cosmetics and overall being focused in creating more ways for people to give them more money, instead of removing them.

They have every reason to go F2P and not stay pay-locked, except for the fact that it would turn the game into a hacker’s toybox since they can just keep making new accounts and downloading the game for free. This happened to Counter Strike: Global Offensive when they proposed to make the game free to play with the option to pay to ‘fully unlock’ it..

With CS:GO however, you are put only into free lobbies, where other players who haven’t paid for the game go. Said players who haven’t paid for the game are running rampant with hacks inside of the free lobbies. If you want to actually play the game properly (ie, without the vast majority of players being insane overt hackers) you still need to spend.

DBD could do this - free lobbies and paid lobbies - but it would probably be expensive and take quite some effort. Two things that we all know BHVR don’t expend much of, but with regards to this concept I don’t blame them at all.

Still this wouldn’t do anything about consoles needing subscriptions to play the game. Or maybe it could if BHVR manage to play on ‘technicalities’. If DBD goes mainline F2P so free players can play, and give it the ‘pay for paid lobbies’ sort of system CSGO has then maybe, just maybe, they could spin it enough that both console platforms would let DBD be a subscriptionless online multiplayer game.

  • If you want to make Survivor perks baseline then do the same for Killers. Don’t suggest to super buff one role and leave the other in the dust.

  • @A_Skinny_Legend said:

    That's just their model.

I think fortnight can be played online without a subscription. Maybe, idk I don't play that game but I saw my little brother playing it however idk if it was because I was sharing my subscription with him or not.

Watch Dogs (the first one) on PS4 allows you to do hacking and tailing invasions, but doesn’t let you do races, decrypt, or free roam, without a subscription.

For some reason this didn’t carry over into Watch Dogs 2.

If Ubisoft of all companies could do it, anybody could do it.

  • Y’all really necropost a year-old thread?

  • I’ve been in general having trouble seeing the rework because I haven’t gotten Coldwind once since the update lmao

  • I know I’m necroing here but I still want this concept to be seen because it could be a great addition to DBD and help communication between console and PC players.

  • Sony forces developers to spend money to enable cross play, and even if they did they typically don’t let them do cross progression because of microtransactions, exclusive content, and stuff like that. Fortnite got caught up in this for example and it caused a huge uproar. Xbox could easily allow it though because they’re Microsoft - PC and Console so...

But there’s also the fact that DBD is a paid title, and on consoles it’s Deluxe Edition that has Hag and Doctor’s chapters unlocked while the PC version doesn’t. I’m not sure how the devs could go about that - either make the Hag and Doctor chapters free on PC as well which would obviously outrage the community, or just not do cross progression at all, which would also outrage the community.
