Change you struggle button to mwheel

See my response to Biggs up above.
  • Is there a TLDR?

Survivors should be allowed to die from Phase 2 by pressing a button instead of spamming to stay alive, due to mere performance issues being able to kill.

Can you go play console and see what it's like over there?

Or just re-assign your struggle key to NOT be space bar. Mouse wheel down perhaps? I have seen others do this and it works quite well.

You missed the entire point of my post, Biggs.
What made you bring up playing on a different console? What was the point of that?
It doesn’t matter whether I reassign my struggle key to something else because no matter what key it is, I still have to spam it.
My entire argument remains - mere performance issues, frame drops, lag spikes, or Killer lag switches will kill any struggling Survivor on hook.
Rather if BHVR made us instead die on hook by pressing a button, none of these problems would exist. Mousewheel scrolling is the same as spacebar spamming and your health still goes down at the same rate no matter how fast you spin it just like it doesn’t matter how fast you spam the spacebar.
We should not be removed from the trial by hook phase 2 automatically because the Killer got salty and lag-swtched, because our internet failed to keep up, or because our PC dropped frame rates.
Hell, I’ve had a Windows 10 Update is Ready popup on my PC show up that took the conputer’s focus away from my game and killed me on hook.
We need to be able to die on the press of a button - not on the whim of a bad computer or internet or a lag-switcher.
  • I scared someone as Myers to the point that they disconnected from the game.
I've made multiple people disconnect in terror, even so much to the point that I've made two Survivors disconnect in the same match once.

I love playing as T1 Myers. Can't wait to get Monitor & Abuse.

    Hello @ LivingLikeLogan !

Yes it's a bug and we are truly sorry about that. Issue is now in our database and will be taking care of eventually.

    Thanks for your report
See you in the fog ! :)

Does this affect our ability to actually obtain the cosmetics? Or is it just a visual bug that prevents us from seeing the faces we haven't unlocked?

  • To be fair, voice chat in-game should be proximity and it should be audible by the Killer.
Otherwise the Survivors can all explore each quarter of the map and tell each other 'distract the Killer to the far corner while I cleanse this hex totem'.
Even without this, just pointing in a direction is enough to tell someone to do something.
I had a game vs a Nurse, a Meg and I were the only ones alive. I pointed her to hide behind the gate while I distracted the Nurse with the 'come here' gesture, while she opened the gate. I barely made it out alive.
You just need to be smart, all players need to learn to interpret what the one pointing is telling them.

Voice chat being cancerous is probably the sole reason why it and in-trial text chat aren't even in the game. We all know how bad the DBD community can get, man, we don't want to make it worse.
In my opinion, we're almost on par with the Steven Universe and Undertale fandoms. Those are some of the worst fandoms of all time.
We bully Killers in SWF squads and flame them whether they win or lose, we turn toxic when anybody mentions nerfing the Survivor crutch perks (DS, SC, etc), we demand balance in favour of one side because ######### the other side, and flame anybody who disagrees.
I highly doubt voice chat would be suitable in this game, with the community in this state.
If it is, then it should only be viable in the beginning-game campfire, and in-trial, a proximity. Probably half the Killer's Terror Radius, because the Killer should be allowed to hear voice chat, but there should also be an indication that the Killer's getting close so you should shut up before he finds you.

It's bad enough that SWF squads have external VC, we don't need map-wide VC in-game, and we don't need it to exclude the Killer from being able to hear or even speak.
It'd be hilarious to do an 'I'm gonna get youuuu' playing as a Killer, just to unnerve and terrify people. But then in comes the cancer when you get pallet looped.

Overall this idea is good but it needs to be sorted out. Voice chat alone is one of the hugest game-changers in Dead By Daylight.

    I agree, to some extent.
One of the issue of that kind of system is that it doesn't empathize 2 things :

    • Dev balancing all add-ons to be viable, since people will just convert "#########" add-ons into the ones they like and called it a day.
    • Make way less diversity. A lot of people will just convert/buy a majority of their add-on to be the ones they like, rather than trying more different builds overall.

Tho, that could be a nice band-aid while they actually make most add-ons (and eventually some survivor items) not to be #########.

Obtaining Very Rare (purple) and Ultra Rare (red) add-ons and items would be completely exclusive to the Bloodweb, as veteran players could have Bloodpoints in excess of 1 million.
Only common (brown), uncommon (yellow), and rare (green) items and add-ons should be available for purchase from a 'store'.
Personally I'd rather not get rekt every game by Tombstone Myers everywhere.

This would be a good idea (along with the idea of having Killers being able to vault and stuff while their weapon is on CD), but I am afraid the Survivor mains will riot and persuade BHVR into undoing their changes.

Survivors need to get over it.
The game is meant to be balanced in favour of the Killers. Survivors are meant to have a hard time at actually Surviving.
The survival rate should be 20-30% as somebody said in another post. Right now it's way higher than that, and it shouldn't be, particularly because of bumrushing the Killer and hooked Survivors with basically no consequence involved.
This is one way to give balance back to Killers, as Survivors have become more powerful than they should be, especially with the meta perks.
Killers and Survivors in this game work, somewhat, on tropes from typical slasher/horror movies (Killer walks faster than you can run, you don't die outright when struck, when struck you're easier to find because of the aftermath, you need someone else to heal you unless you have the knowledge and the resources to do it yourself, the Killer can always find you if you aren't careful, etc). No slasher/horror trope has every victim bumrushing the Killer - who is a terrible threat to everyone - while he cleans off his weapon before he slashes someone again.

The devs need to stop listening to the cancerous Survivors and balance the game to work how it's meant to work - the Killer should be a threat at all times, not just reduced to nothing because he's being blocked by the rest of the group while he's carrying one.

  • @AlexAnarchy said:
That's your bonus, Should the devs consider taking that away since your not actually escaping then?
killer gets 1250 per survivor d/cing, survivors get a full 5k instantly if the killer d/cs so sure..complain and beg for more.

Excuse me, where the ######### did I say I was complaining or begging for more, mate?

  • @AlexAnarchy said:

Survivors get 5k BP when a killer leaves.

Survivors get 5k points as an 'Escape'.
Not as a reward for a Killer disconnecting, but since there's no Killer to kill in the match, the ultimate resolution is that Survivors would escape.
So it's just an instant escape.

  • I'm genuinely surprised that a thread about Decisive Strike has remained civil and not strayed off into the usual territory of Survivors getting triggered because someone mentioned their crutch perk.

That being said, if Decisive Strike was an obsession-only perk, that would be great. When you know every Survivor has Decisive Strike you might as well leave them all on the ground to bleed out because they'll all stab you in the arse with whatever the hell it is that they stab you with and get away.
Killers have perks that are situational and can be useless, and like Hexes can be completely disabled. Obsession Perks between Survivors and Killers are the same way. Decisive Strike should be no different.

    +1

  • Exactly what Madjura said.
If his bottles did direct damage to Survivors, the Clown would essentially be a Huntress with AoE Status Effects.
He already has most of Huntress' Status Add-Ons kit, being able to slow, blind, and deafen Survivors with his ability. He's in a pretty good place right now.

I'm not advocating for it but SWF doesn't need a disadvantage. If you don't want to play against it then leave.

That doesn't make sense because Killers are the hosts of game lobbies.
So you're telling me to leave my own lobby and make a new one so I don't play against an SWF group?
If anything they'd ultimately end up in the next lobby I open up and we'd be back to square one.
Maybe there should be an indication in the lobby to Killers that some survivors are paired in a SWF group.
Or maybe there should be an option for Killers to prevent SWF groups from joining their lobby. Killers are the hosts of the games that they partake in because this game is Peer-To-Peer. That's why you get disconnected when the Killer leaves, and it's why chat gets turned off when the Host - the KILLER - disconnects at the end of the match, because there's no session left for you to chat.

The Killer as the host should be allowed to opt-in or opt-out of SWF groups. You're acting like it's the Killer's responsibility to 'dodge lobbies with SWF groups' when you in an SWF join their lobby.

  • There should at the very least be some disadvantage to playing a Survive With Friends, especially since it seems to be more often used for the sake of trolling killers (see; some OchiDo videos).
But having to start the game injured is a bit extreme. It's not hard as a Killer see when a SWF group joins your lobby because they usually enter at the same time, and if they started off as Injured then nothing would stop the Killer from putting on Nurse's Calling and essentially getting free wins because the Survivors are forced to heal themselves.

    Starting off Injured? No.
Perhaps starting off separated - across the map - unless an offering that starts all Survivors together is used, would be more acceptable.

  • I discussed this in the Dead By Daylight Discord server, actually.
Having Self-Care as an infinite-use perk makes Medkits completely obsolete, due to the fact that medkits are limited-use consumable items, but self-care is an infinite-use perk that any survivor can have.
I agree that Self-Care should be limited - to one self-heal per Trial.
Basically with it being infinite-use, it goes as follows; You get hit by the Killer, you sprint off into oblivion, heal, and loop them again endlessly. Get hit, vanish, heal again, repeat.
As it is right now, Self-Care is unbalanced. One full self-heal would be enough, but it should be noted that just that on its own could be circumvented by 99%ing the healing process and having another Survivor just tap.
Rather, if Self-Care was used at all during the singular Injured State, it'd be consumed entirely. Or, it should be changed so that it could heal the equivalent of 100% of the healing process once per trial, so it could be 50%ed twice for example. That would make it impossible to fully heal without another's help, just the same as when the Survivor is in Dying State without the perk that gets them up on their own.

    As it stands, it's broken.
