numbers are worse today then i've seen in a long time. but i have hope the lobby code reverting will help.
It's weird that my lobby times are better now then they were before. and there's less people playing.
Unfortunately, a majority of players don't visit the forums, so they won't even see the revert announcement. Most players either play a game, or don't. And the numbers were already dropping, They didn't even get the normal boost for the DLC release this time. If this fiasco drove more players away to play something else, there is a strong possibility that they will be playing whatever other game for the next month or two, if not a lot longer.
I've seen games from much larger and experienced game studios completely screw the pooch on their matchmaking before, and drive a lot of players away. What I haven't seen yet is them fully recovering from it.
Behavior was warned about all this when the stuff was on PTR. They have no one to blame but themselves. This damage was self-inflicted, and whatever fallout is deserved. Maybe in the future, they'll actually listen to PTR feedback. They already had Deathgarden die at birth, they really can't afford to be strangling DbD right now.
Personally, I'm giving them one more shot at fixing this sorry excuse for a matchmaker. One more. If they can't do it with the next matchmaker patch, I'm just uninstalling the game and washing my hands of Behavior and their products.

Geez that sucks. Glad I found out before reinstalling though haha.
Well, I guess it's a good thing that I made Apex Legends (PC, US server) in-game friends thanks to a forum thread for noobs and chill people to team-up together and skip the elitist random SoloQ. Guess I'll be playing that game.
Maybe I'll use the $14 that I was going to spend on the Legion and Plague DLCs before this revert back to Lobby Simulator, and buy the Battle Pass or Octane instead.

Oh god I had no idea about that. Was thinking about getting back on heroes then other day.. RIP.
But yeah, at first I was like," okay, maybe the timer will be higher but I should get better matches at least." Then after 4 hours I realized it's a ######### show. They reverted the times, but not the pip system (which I actually enjoy its difficulty, just not the method of implimentation), and apparently not all of the rank system.
Which sucks. I've been defending this for weeks as I havent had many dcs, or bad wait times. However, this revert hurts.
Yeah, I'd skip going back to HoTS. They had updates done six months in advance they stated in January when all this took place, which leaves them with their steady updates through June or so.
After that, I would not expect much. They admitted things will be a lot slower.
And yeah, I'm a Rank 19 killer. Under the new system, I was getting matches even at 1:30am east coast time within 4 minutes. I was facing Survivors who were usually Ranks 13-11, but was doing fine. I still managed 2k to 4k every match-up.
With the revert, my Rank 19 lobbies are the ultimate Lobby Simulator ######### show. This makes the HoTS fiaco look like Apex Legends rapid queue times.
Blizzard couldn't fix the HoTS mess. And I'm to believe that Behavior is going to manage to fix this mess they've made? It's ironic that their latest DLC was titled Demise of the Faithful, because I've certainly lost all faith in Behavior.

@ShirtlessDwight we dont have exact rank vs rank right now. I had this game last night. It was one of 4 games I played during a 4 hour timeframe.
So some of us are waiting forever AND getting horrid matchups.
Christ, this is echoing what happened to Heroes of the Storm. Blizzard decided to start screwing around with matchmaking (and adding a role queue to boot) and it completely screwed the pooch. Long lobbies, and then still crappy match-ups.
They never did fix it before Activision-Blizzard decided to say "eff it," with the game, abruptly shutdown the eSports division without any warning, moved HoTS Devs to other projects, and left it with a skeleton crew a few months ago.
I'm waiting to see how Behavior, a much smaller and apparently less experienced company, pulls itself out of this mess. I haven't uninstalled yet, but I have zero faith they're going to be able to adequately fix this fiasco. I'm starting to feel that they've completely screwed themselves this time.

This situation is disgusting. It was EASILY foreseeable, lobby times at high ranks were already utter ######### even with the old system and now ranking up was made harder which just amplifies the problem massively. And there STILL is no statement about why it was disabled. Community Managers, if you are reading this: Stop wasting time on the forums and get an explanation out! I want to know WHY I am no longer allowed to play at rank 1 (due to MASSIVE wait times) and when I can finally play again!
Rank 19 Killer is just as bad on PC.
Honestly, it must only be the middle ranks getting matches since they reverted the system.
But hey, don't forget to buy the next DLC! It's a new killer or survivor to stare at in Lobby Simulator by Daylight.

Its funny to hear the other side. I was like "holy cow, an instant lobby!" before i heard that they changed the lobby system back to the old way. Under the new system i was waiting for 3-5 minutes for a three person lobby where i waited for ten more minutes before we had enough players to start.
To be honest, they should just scrap rank entirely. This is a game where in a team of four, someone can get scarified (either by three hooks or suicide on the hook), and move on to the next match, leaving the rest of the team potentially undermanned. In that regard, it's very similar to a battle royale situation: dead and gone, your squad is now undermanned.
Just drop rank already. Rank is best used in PvP games where the team is a team until the end of the match, unless someone DCs (which should invoke some sort of account penalty). Not in games like DbD or in a battle royale where you can die, leave the team, and queue for a new match.
Yes, I understand DbD is not a battle royale, but the death, leave the match and your team, find a new match mechanic is the same.
-
The casual player? Well, I'm a casual player, and I've never given a single damn about Rank or Pips. As a casual, when I play DbD, I play it to be my favorite Killer (such as Myers) or to chase survivors and drive them crazy as Doctor. I play to get bloodpoints, and get goodies from the bloodweb. I don't even care about the current perk-meta. I play for fun.
Having fun and getting some bloodpoints is all the incentive I've ever needed to click "Play" on DbD.
If I want to care about rank, I play Overwatch Competitive mode, where playing for rank actually makes sense. If I just want to chill, have fun, and relax a little, I play DbD or maybe Apex Legends.

@Carpemortum If they have a better solution then no point. Also they probably won't listen anyway if they have something else planned. Better to just wait.
I think history with this game's ranking and MM has repeatedly shown that BVHR having a better idea . . . hell, even just a good idea . . . is about as common as a unicorn.
I used to think Hi-Rez was terrible at MM design with the Paladins matchmaker. BVHR has made them look good.
At this point, the Evil Dead leak looks like a cash grab DLC feeding on the whole Bruce Campbell horror genre pop-culture popularity. Enough with the DLCs, fix the damned game.

Yeah I played 3 games in the last 2 hours. Back to Sekiro. Not playing lobby simulator rn. Will play tomorow during peak and hope for the better lol.
I don't even have the patience with Behavior to risk playing more Lobby Simulator tomorrow. Not to mention, their peak hours on SteamCharts are usually around noon until 3pm, east coast time. I'm working then. I can only play in the evenings, when the count has already dropped quite a bit from that peak.
I'm just glad I checked the forums before I dropped the money on the Legion and Plague DLCs that I'd planned to buy tonight. As it stands, looks like it's back to Overwatch, Apex Legends, and Realm Royale. Maybe (and I stress that word) in a couple of months Behavior will have their crap sorted out enough where it's worth me putting DbD back into rotation and to consider spending money on it again.
As it stands right now with how they've handled this entire fiasco, I have zero confidence in them as a studio at the present time, and especially zero confidence in Matt's ability to lead the game going forward.
-
I agree. Now as a Rank 19 killer on PC I'm back to not getting matches at all. I'm just playing lobby simulator again. The exact reason I left shortly after buying the game last summer. I came back due to the new system, and was loving it. I was getting matches within 3-4 minutes even at 1:30am in the morning.
Yeah, I was Rank 19-20 facing Rank 13-11 Survivors, but I didn't care. I had fun and still managed to get a 2k-4k each match. I was in it to earn the bloodpoints to grind out Killer levels for Teachables.
Now, I get to sit in the lobby. And sit . . . and sit . . . and sit.
-
Nope, I'm out. As a Rank 19 Killer, I was finding matches even at 1:30am at night within 3 to 4 minutes. Granted, my matches had a lot of Rank 13-11 survivors, but I was able to hold my own and had fun, and grinded out some bloodpoints.
Just tried several times after the revert, and after an average of 12-15 minutes waiting in Lobby each time, I give up. It's back to newbie-rank Lobby Simulator.
Maybe I'll check back in the summer when dedicated servers go live (if they actually do), and maybe by then they'll have a clue about their matchmaking. Newbie-rank Lobby Simulator was why I Ieft this game in Summer 2018 shortly after buying everything available at the time. It's no fun trying to grind out the pips to get out of the gray ranks when your lobby time far exceeds your play time. Never mind trying to play the bloodpoint grind under those conditions.
I was about to come home from errands and purchase the most recent two DLCs to complete the current collection. Glad I saw the revert notice at the forums, first. And glad I spent the last 45 minutes testing it, first.

Apex’s ping system is amazing, along with the various helpful voice lines.
But on the topic of voice to text, they’ve always had it.
Just go to “Settings” and in “Audio” there’s an option for “Convert Incoming Voice to Chat Text.”
It’s been there since day 1.
Yes, but depending on your platform, their voice-to-text has not always worked properly. I know from Google that at least on the PS4, it's had its share of issues.
I don't know if they fixed that or not, I played on PC. Past tense. Apex has the same issue I have with most BR games: no matchmaking. I'm a low-level player coming from Overwatch, so it's a high learning curve on getting movement and aim down, plus I play SoloQ as my friends don't play shooters outside of Overwatch (we're all in our 40's and they have zero interest in the traditional run-and-gun style shooting). Being matched against teams with people with thousands of kills already, and getting mowed down and left for dead first fight, isn't a good way to learn. I suppose had I jumped into the game during launch week and played religiously, it might be a different story now.
But, I didn't. So trying to learn the game now is just an exercise in re-queuing frustration. It's a game that is strongly built around a pre-made squad and squad tactics, something that is just missing in randoms. My experience with randoms has been getting teamed with high-level players who all think they're Shroud, and none of the matches last long enough to learn anything.
By comparison, I don't have that same issue in Realm Royale. Yes, the matchmaking is the same, but the pacing and set-up makes it easier to learn, and going up against someone with a lot of time in the game isn't always a death sentence.
So, needing a break from Overwatch, DbD is where I'll hang my hat. Yes, I am a Killer Main. No, I am not biased against Survivors. I don't care what buffs or whatever they get, as long as the matches are fun. And no, I don't expect, nor need, a 4k every match. I just want the bloodpoints. They can all escape in the end, as long as I did enough overall in the trial to earn some BP. I already have Overwatch, Paladins, and Realm Royale if I want to worry about kill-count.
-
All I care about is bloodpoints. Ranking and pipping don't mean a thing to me, I just play for the bloodpoints.
-
KIlmeran was the protagonist in a fantasy series that I scrapped and never published way back around 2000 or so. I revived the name when WoW launched, and he was the Dwarf Hunter that I created as my first character and played all the through 2018 when I stopped WoW completely.
Over the past 14 years or so, it also became my forum and in-game account name in every game I play. Nowadays, it's the gaming name my fans know me by when they end up playing one of the same games I do (I play multiple games, right now being Overwatch, DbD, Realm Royale, and a little bit of Apex), and want to team-up and play with me.

I highly advise you to only get the teachables that are actually worth something. Bubbas perks are all worth it, while Huntress for example doesn't have a single good perk, the Doctor only having Monitor and Abuse etc.
I did the same as survivor and i will start the unlock the lesser teachables once Jeff is fully maxed out like my David is, i only got specific perks and plan to get teachables one by one later, thst made my life way better so far.
What Killer perks do you recommend as most necessary? I know BBQ, but is Ruin still worth it (for example)?
-
Thanks guys.
Yeah, as far as managing the bloodweb for cheapest paths, I remember watching a couple of guides on how to do that with the Entity while still getting needed perks. Fortunately, for Killers I will never have an interest in playing much at all (such as Cannibal and Nurse), going the cheapest add-on route isn't an issue.
-
Well, the rank vs perk tiers has never been a direct correlation. As a gray-ranked Killer, I've faced P3 Claudettes that are Rank 17 or so.
All that means is that they pumped a crap ton of BP into that survivor. Given the low survivor rank as well, they likely did it while maining Killer.
That Rank 15 in your case could have done the same. Mained Killer for a while, dumped BP into survivors after a while, and now are playing survivor, starting that side at low rank, but with perk loadouts already grinded.
It's one of the things about DbD that has often turned me off of the game. Bloodpoints should only be spendable on the side you are playing when you earn them, and Survivor and Killer BP should be tracked separately, just as Rank is. It's yet another reason Rank is a joke in DbD. You can main Killer for quite a while, and then pump those bloodpoints in a Survivor or two, jump to that side, and start at Rank 20 with full Perk loadouts and add-ons. So, having a separate rank between the two sides is asinine.
Ultimately, though, I'd prefer each Survivor and Killer have their own bloodpoints. Want to level a certain one for the teachables? Then you have to play that particular one for their Bloodpoints.
-
It's strange, but I'll repost what I said in another thread. See, I'm facing just the opposite issue.
I just came back to the game after almost a year away (I bought the game and all the DLCs at the time during the 2018 summer sale on Steam, but didn't play it much). I'm Rank 20 Killer on PC, and I find matches in less than three minutes. Last night at 1:30am my time (east coast) it took about four minutes.
Now, I've been going against rank 15-11 survivors a lot, but I have to wonder about their rank vs skill. I'm rank 19 now (ranked up last night during my final trial) I have a total of 31 hours in DbD, and I am getting a 3k or 4k almost every match as Myers. I mean, what the hell? I had like only one match in all this weekend where I didn't at least 2k. These guys have 5 to 9 ranks on me, I should not be killing them like that.
And my Myers is only Level 15. He doesn't have a ton of add-ons, either. He's stalled there because I'm dumping BP into killers I don't like to play but want the Teachables from, like Cannibal and a couple of others.
Why, as a newbie player at beginning ranks, am I killing higher-than-me ranked Survivors like this? And no, I am not good at the game, so I'm not implying that.
-

I wanna add to that that most Info they release to public on these subjects are most likely greenlit by their lawyers for safety reasons too.
Im not sure though if the balance of this game, or game mechanics are subject to the license though. Freddy got nerfed very shortly after his release and Myers had a long and spread history of buffs and nerfs too.
Yeah, I'm not sure, either. That said, once Freddy's kit was approved, a nerf or buff was likely within bounds for not needing new approval. The approved kit remained the same, just numbers were tweaked. We did that on the DC Comics table-top RPG for example. The Stat write-ups as far as powers and such were approved, but we tweaked a couple of numbers before release.
Reworking Freddy, though, if they are changing key components of his kit, might fall under needing a new approval. Naturally, I'm just speculating based on my own licensing experience. I've no inkling what type of licenses or terms Behavior negotiates.

I do feel a lot of stuff has been withheld, such as the infamous Freddy Rework
I don't know. Typically with a license, every, single step has to be approved by the licensor. They had the current version of Freddy approved by the licensor. I'm also wondering if any rework versions they have done behind the scenes (and there might very well have been several) have not been approved, or the approval process is just slow as hell.
When I worked in the DC Comics license during my time in the table-top RPG industry, you would not believe how slow they were with the approvals. I'm talking sometimes a year delay between submission of work and approval.
Any Freddy rework likely has to go through approval as well. It could very well be on that end, and a licensee is usually unable to actually come out and state that.

And you aren't complaining about Bill from Left 4 Dead? Ok.
I love cross overs. That's all it is.
Well, to be honest, I never played Left 4 Dead. Since EQ1 launched in 1999, I played mostly MMOs and didn't play shooters, ever, until Overwatch launched in May 2016. Granted, I've played others since then like Paladins, Realm Royale, and now Apex Legends (and still play Overwatch), but never played shooters back when Left 4 Dead was a big thing. It was a shooter, so I never gave it as much as a glance (same as I have zero knowledge about Battlefield or CoD or any of those).
So, I've no inkling whatsoever about what Bill is like as a character. Hell, I didn't even know Bill was from Left 4 Dead at first, until my kid saw him on my Survivor roster screen and pointed it out.
-
Yeah, I've been watching this as well, and the numbers are definitely dropping. Earlier this week, Peanut claimed it was normal and would rise with the release of the new chapter. Well, that didn't happen. So what's the next excuse?

The perks are literally in the game. Would be an absurd thing for the devs to "fake."
Freddy doesn't talk. Myers grunts when stunned. Amanda doesn't give people a way to escape in the movies. In Texas Chainsaw Franklin is killed by a chainsaw yet Franklin's Demise only works with regular attacks. They should probably delete all those characters because they're inaccurate.
There's a huge difference. The examples you listed are not a huge change to the respective characters' cores.
Ash, just running away from a killer, not using the chainsaw and shotgun to confront them? The man that takes on the Deadites constantly, even when old and out of shape like in the Showtime series? It's just asinine, from a character perspective, to have him in a game like DbD. As I said, as a survivor, he would be much better suited to one of the other games where the killer can be attacked.
-
Well, as a fan of Evil Dead, both the films and the three seasons of the Showtime series, I hope it's a fake leak.
Ash in DbD would be stupid. Ash running around, looping a killer, kneeling in front of generators. Okay, right. That's Ash.
Someone like Ash would be a better fit into a game where the survivors can actually fight back against the Killer. I could not play Ash as someone who only runs around from a killer like a scared rabbit.

@No_Cluie_Louis We just need to introduce more people to the game that's all. It's nearly Christmas time, don't hesitate to bring any gamer friends you know into Dead by Daylight.I did that during one of the sales. They found the gameplay fun enough, but once they realized the insane grind that was needed for all the different teachables from all the different characters, just make a build that would be remotely viable, they gave up. The grind for a new player was just too asinine for them. Especially when they researched some things, and realized they would be above Rank 15 even before they had enough unlocked for builds, and heading into Veteran-de-ranking territory (and all the builds those de-ranking Vets could make against them).
They walked away. The game is too new player unfriendly.

Birlliant. Would finally reduce the grind a bit. Honestly I'm shocked a game like this still has such a grind even two years later, I mean what do they believe how this grind feels for new comers who need to play for so long to finally unlock proper perks for the killers they enjoy playing? It's very newcomer unfriendly if you ask me.It is, which is why, though I expected DBD to be my new main game, it became very much an occasional side game very quickly. On limited play time, there is no way in hell I can churn through a grind that would make an Asian gamer throw his hands up in frustration.
Almost two-and-a-half years post launch, they seriously need to revisit this BP, Perk, and RNG bloodweb system. Not only is the grind completely asinine for new players at this stage, but most new players will hit Rank 15+ under the current ranking system before they even have most Teachables or other needed perks.
As far as the current BP bonus event: either they advertised for crap, or people just did not care. Usually during any sort of BP event the Steam Chart numbers go up. For Blood Rush, they not only didn't go up from their normal hovering of 25k-30k in the daytime and 13k-15k at night (east coast time zone), but they actually went down some days. A couple nights during the Blood Rush, Steam Charts showed around 8k-9k people on in the late evenings.

right so they apparently have no 'fixed' this in a patch but am i the only person getting no luck still with killer games in the higher ranks.I think the problem for high ranked Killers is that a lot of Survivors seemed to have been getting their vial, and then suiciding on the hook to move on to the next match to keep grinding. So, they deranked while grinding the vials. But since rank reset happens about 10 days after the event ends, I imagine Red Rank killer lobbies might be problematic until then.

@moka264 said: Thank you so much for the advice, but I can never get people to join my lobby.. do you or anyone else know what to do? I tried waiting around 7 minutes to 10 and still got no one
Killer lobbies (on PC) take an eternity right now at all ranks due to the event. People are farming the 60 vials, which were obtainable as 30 on Survivor and 30 on killer. So, survivors who finished their 30 vials jumped to killer side for those 30.
Which meant we suddenly had a lot more Killers trying to all create lobbies.
They added a hotfix tonight wherein we can now get all 60 vials on one side or the other, but it's going to take a day or two at least for everyone to realize that, and the killer lobbies to get somewhat back to normal.
-
Unless you mean some other film that I'm not familiar with, the film released this past August and completely bombed.
Also, the copyright holder for media licensing, Mythology Entertainment, are kind of a ######### to work with from what I hear. So, I doubt it's worth the trouble to BHVR.
-
@SteveyHooves said:
It says 60/60 but I only got 30 as killer and 30 As survivor and I'm capped... this must be bugged or either something I missed. They did a hotfix this evening where you can now get all 60 vials just by playing one side. No longer a need to go 30 survivor and 30 killer. They said it would show X/60 now as a result.
So, if you already got 30 per side, it will show 60/60. But, say, if you only had your 30 from survivor (under the original system), it would show 30/60 and you could now get your final 30 also by playing survivor.
So, all they did was change the event so that people no longer need to play both survivor and killer. They did they to alleviate the long-assed killer lobbies on PC. As a result, the tracker now reads X of 60 vials.

Well December is winter, and certainly closer than we realise!!!
Still psyched!Just pointing out that he said that December release was not guaranteed.

I give 'em hell, but in the end, I have to agree. They've showed that they are trying. And that's all we can really ask for.

I have similar rules. If you t-bag me or blatantly flashlight harass me (not talking saves, here), then you get a tour of Facecamp City. Play nice, and I'll let you earn BP. Be a dick, and better luck next match.
I'll gladly lose Chase points to take you out of the match. I play for fun, not looking to rank-up anyway.

As is said in the pinned posts, lobby issues will continue to monitored and we hope that the issue doesn't arise again.I get the team wants them to play different roles, but denying one side the extra BP isn't a solution.
Well, this was definitely a quick fix. I wonder if the BP coding might not be a little more in-depth. Not saying it is, just wondering out loud, as it were.
Well if it's not a quick fix, then it's not gonna come anyway.
Only 6 days left for the event.Yeah, that was my thought as well.

@AnotherRandy said: Calm down dude, that's just my way of expression my frustration with the lobbys. Don't try to be a daddy here and tell people not to whine.
There certainly does seem to be a disproportionate number of people at this forum who think they're a moderator. Doesn't it?

Capped at 60. The only change is that now those that prefer Survivor can go on and earn the remaining vials they need all as a Survivor, which hopefully alleviates the killer Lobby Simulator issue that has been going on.

At the end of the event, we'll be approx 8 weeks since The Spirit, which means, only 4 more weeks till DLC!
All aboard the hype train!!!Peanits said in another thread that the next killer is "winter," but not a guaranteed December release. So, I'm feeling like the next one might be a little late. Might not be, but his reply in that thread seemed to set-up the possibility.

Hello,Will people who already got 30/30 on both sides get anything or are we just going to get thrown under the bus?
Thank you.
How is it throwing you under the bus? You managed to get 30 survivor and 30 killer. But due to Killer lobby times on PC, they had to put in a fix of sorts that now allows all 60 to be gained on just one side.
It's still 60 vials. You just managed to get yours under the 30-per side method. You have earned your two cosmetic sets.
