  • It is only rational that both sides prefer the best outcome.

    I prefer any of these:

Deathslinger, Oni, Ghostface, Hag, Plague, or Demogorgon

I have corrupt and NOED on all, I just really don't like using NOED as I see it as way too crutch. On the same note, corrupt is good but it does not work on big maps so well.

Sorry for the delay, mobile forum kicked me out and wouldn't let me log back in.

For all of those characters I would advise a defensive playstyle. I would encourage you to equip NOED if you have it on each of them and instead of focusing on guarding on all 7 generators focus on guarding the closest 4. Survivor spawns normally have the survivors spawn far away from you. (This excludes Azarov's Resting Place where 3 of them spawn on the other side of the map and one of them spawn on your side.) So let them complete the far generators it would be too difficult to patrol then you just have to defend the last 4. NOED is your Ace in the Hole. Besides, once enough killer mains start using NOED then survivors will start trying to do totems which buys you more time.

Use NOED now, for totem respect later.

As for strategies, make a "Hag Nest" around the 4-3 closest gens. Make Demo portals at all of the generators and use Ruin and Surveillance to keep 'em locked down. Plague, just let 'em come to you if they cleanse far away who gives a crap, that'll eventually proc Corrupt Purge. For Deathslinger just drag them into your danger zone. Ghostface and Oni strategies I leave to you though. I hope this helps somewhat.

I usually love playing killer in a casual sort of way, not really minding half of the team escaping or anything, and playing killers that nobody deems toxic, but after the bloodrush began, I have been getting genrushed to hell and back. Gens are so far spread apart and even corrupt intervention, pop goes the weasel, dead mans switch, and surge have no luck in stopping the rush for me. I hate playing toxic but lately I've been having to use more powerful killers like oni, spirit, and deathslinger, all the while a good survivor can evade hits for ages on huge maps like Ormond, Mothers Dwelling, and any other big maps.

Sorry to sound like a die-hard killer main who loves to complain, but this genrush has gotten INSANE since bloodrush began and people started queuing together more often. I feel like there should be a sort of balance to how fast survive with friends can complete gens. I played Oni on Ormond and got looped for 3 gens because there were so many powerful loops and it was such a huge map that I couldn't find any other survivors to chase. I got 1 kill, but it was absolutely painful being looped for so long around an entire half of the map.

I'm just curious, is this an insanely big problem for anybody else now? I loved playing killer but now all I get is people who gen rush me and loop for ages around huge maps, and it's just crushing my will to play this game now. I really would like to see anybody's proposals for anti-genrushing stuff. And if you're here to say "git gud", save your breath, plenty of others already tell me that post-match when I ask if they're swf.

I don't want to resort to mori's either, those are just irrelevant and too much of an instant advantage IMO. I also think ruin is fine as is but the distance between gens is absurd combined with how survivors literally have to move nowhere to do it. The game feels like I have a flight that's about to leave in 5 minutes and I have to catch all 4 of my cats around the airport before I can board.

Sorry this was more of a rant. I'd love to hear your feedback on how you guys suggest I play better or how the devs better this issue, if it's not unique to me, that is.

    What killer do you prefer?

Do you have Corrupt Intervention or NOED?

If you can answer these, I might be able to help. As a guy who plays both killer and survivor I too have seen the rush.

  • The biggest issue with the Coldwind Farm realm by far is map size.

Are you daft? The survivor's best chance in that generator spawn is to vault, and the killer can just immediately drop through the hole and meet them by the time they hit the ground. This entire map is killer-sided dawg crap. You're wrong.

"Meta" is a video gaming term, short for metagame, which refers to anything related to the game that exists outside of the game itself. This includes community consensus on what the strongest or most optimal builds or characters are, and that's what people usually mean when they talk about "the meta". So a meta build in Dead By Daylight is one which uses perks, and sometimes items and/or add-ons, which are generally considered by players to be the strongest in the game.

The answer to your second question, I believe, is neither likely nor unlikely, in that it really doesn't tell you anything. It used to be an indicator that the survivors were in a party, but from what I've heard the system has since been changed such that it will sometimes match up a group of unaffiliated players before putting them into an empty lobby. And sometimes players who are in a party load into the lobby at different times because one of their games just took a bit longer to load than the other(s).

I thought META was an acronym: Most Effective Tactic Available.

  • Huntress is the go to for new killer players.

I procrastinate hence the Fire Up, NOED, Bloodwarden.

Enduring is just because whenever I get hurt irl I start seeing red.

people are confined to their homes because of a pandemic . and  BHVR still handing out DC bans? disgusting.

You raise a good point. /s

Why on Earth would you DC to begin with, where are you going?

  • The only suggestion I could see working would be adding gas canisters to each map. You have to fuel a generator before you can repair it, done. Just scatter them around in plain site. It's not meant to completely prevent gen repairs, just would add some extra time before repairs could start. Have survivors hold the cans in the hand they don't hold their item in.

It's not a perfect solution, but it would slow repairs down just a little bit so killers could have less pressure during their first chase/hook.

  • I've got a few questions for you:

How long does it take for the first 3 generators to pop, on average?

Do you feel like you could do well with any killer at rank one, or would you have to choose from a fraction of the roster?

  • Tunneling is just a result of the trash emblem system. Devout rewards you for hooks and kills and Malicious reward you for hurting survivors and not letting them heal. In an era where your best stall perks are Corrupt and Thanatophobia you're gonna see a lot more tunneling from people who want to win. 3 Survivors are a lot less dangerous then 4.

Camping is usually an emotional response from my experience. Either you pissed off the killer or they're scared of your team. On the off chance it's not emotionally based then it's just someone that wants to eat your salt or drink your tears or something like that. I don't get it, but they're out there.

  • The only two characters I ship are Jake and Claudette.

  • If a killer farms it's purely for the survivors's sake to be honest. In most instances, if a match goes well enough for you to get Brutal or Ruthless you should be almost capping each of your bloodpoint categories.

Survivors have to go out of their way to get points though.

The excuse is just appearing too much now. I'm fine with going against good killers who understand a character, perk builds and add-on combinations. I'm ok with going against survivors who can do their objective effectively.

I understand that DbD is unfair by design, I accept it and I enjoy it. I've played Warhammer 40k for 10 years, after all.

What I can't stand are the toxic people who justify their pathetic existences with this hot garbage of an excuse.

The rise of toxic players demonstrates 2 key things:

    1.) People are donkeyholes

2.) People are getting bored of the standard gameplay.

Until the developers realize the second point, we're just gonna be stuck where we are.

  • There seems to be an influx of new killers. We're seeing lots of red rank survivors against weaker lower ranked killers so the high rank ones must be leaving while the low rank ones are filling the void.

  • Hoo boy, I get that you're upset but the game is designed to be mean, even unintentionally.

Killer emblems reward hurting survivors and not letting them heal as well as getting multiple hooks. This ranking system encourages killers to tunnel off the hook to "win". As for camping, if there was no other survivor nearby they saw and nobody is looping them near you, it's just another playstyle and no matter how boring it is, they're entitled to it as much as anyone is entitled to play a particular killer.

For the "gen rush" survivors have nothing to do except gens. Sure, totems exist but survivors usually ignore them.

The matchmaking in order to give you a challenging experience is designed to punish you. You do well as a survivor? Then it'll match you with killers that are certain to ruin your victory streak and crush you into the mud. You do well as a killer? Then it'll match you with M.I.T graduate repairmen that can finish 3 generators in a minute.

I get what you mean when you feel like you want to pull your hair out, but that's just the way DBD is designed. Matchmaking will keep giving you higher walls to climb over until suddenly you can't.

A lot of people, particularly killers must be leaving or something because whether I'm at rank 13 as a killer or rank 10 almost half of all my survivors are red rank. The game's just not in a healthy state right now.

If anyone tries to use the "I paid for this so I can do whatever I want excuse" be content in that if that's their excuse they probably don't have any other excuses and are just a jerk.

Yes, I think that's what I've been doing for two days now and the 2nd day that I no longer play Dbd, even if I personally wanted to try to reach level 70 of the pass to take the head of the set of purple Feng ... but I don't know if in the end I will want it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1170392#Comment_1170392

I was playing the Wrath ... I wanted to play something other than the doctor (which for the moment I am feeling really good and I can slow down the generators easily) but I think the spectrum unless you are a good one to play it the survivor they kick your ass, but I think it is basically a problem of mentality of the players ... and it is clear that ... if people play as if it were always a race to get out more violated from the Trial well ... it is no longer a problem of the game but of the players playing right now then.

Well the real issue with generators right now is that in most (The number I'm pulling out of my rear is 80%) matches you'll see almost 0 totem interaction so every second you are not chasing a survivor if they aren't healing or saving they're repairing.

This "There's nothing else to do." problem is why I keep calling for more objectives like gas cans that have to be brought to the generators before they can be repaired implemented. Unless you play Legion and use Feral Frenzy on the survivors ASAP I fail to see how the majority of the cast has anyway of slowing down generators.

  • @TheGorgon said:

Tunneling can have a BP or rank decreation or whatever, but Borrowed Time shouldn't even be a perk, borrowed time should be an implementation to the game as base for every survivor to combat tunneling killers. Just an idea.

I disagree simply for the fact that it doesn't take any level of actual cognitive function to understand "Hmm, the killer is watching that hook very closely, I should't go a save."

I understand that many folks dislike tunneling and being tunneled. However, BHVR actually encourages tunneling with the current emblem system. The current system rewards lots of hooks in the Devout Emblem while also rewarding not letting survivors heal with the Malicious emblem. Tunneling actually helps 2 of the killer emblems gain points quickly. Until you tackle the root issues of tunneling: Generators being repaired too fast and emblems encouraging tunneling. All adding a basekit Borrowed Time would do is hurt everyone.

  • Prove Thyself isn't really an issue. Coordinating with randoms is unreliable so I stack it with Better Together, Bond, and Kindred.

I can crank out gens fast with allies, but in a chase I'm hopeless so it balances out.

  • The - or + rep system on Steam was(is?) mainly used by traders more than anything else. If you don't trade on Steam it shouldn't really do anything at all, tbh.

  • I always want more BP. Just hope that it's conveyed as an incentive to stay in, and not a celebration of a pandemic.

  • Use the Mr.X or "HEX: Gon Give It To Ya" build.

Perks are as follows: Enduring, Brutal Strength, Bamboozle, Fire Up

Killers: Myers for more viability, Joe if you have the Legion skin for the full meme.

Addition suggestion: Listen to DMX - X Gon Give It To Ya while you play.

The whole idea of the build is that you're gonna give it to the survivors since while you lack tracking perks, stall perks, and info perks you'll have maximum chase power. With 1 gen done you have 50% faster pallet stun recovery, 24% faster breaking and 19% faster vaulting. With 4 gens done you have 50% faster pallet stun recovery, 36% faster breaking and 31% faster vaulting.

I take around 30 seconds to find someone then I take 30 seconds to down them, I hook and I see 3 people all on gens with bbq and I go over to them and 3 gens pop. Any ideas how I can counter this? It’s been happening a lot now.

I mean, if you play Legion and rush the survivors as soon as they spawn in this just doesn't happen. At the very least the time of the 3 gen pop is greatly delayed.

  • Killer is weird right now. My queues on PC throughout the day are usually several minutes yet the survivors are almost never my rank.

So even if there's few killers at high ranks, there's still plenty out there I guess?

Matchmaking is currently broken. I have been told that the developers are working on a fix for this but I don't think it will be anytime soon.

What are you having trouble with regarding the high rank players, might I ask?

Now I main doctor but previously I used to main trapper. And yes I got corrupt intervention

Well it's not just a Trapper issue to be frank. Hah and Trapper suffer at the start of a match while they get their traps set up. So without Corrupt to freeze survivor repairs it's a crapshoot.

  • The only reason people advise against NOED so strongly is because by equipping NOED you are hurting yourself.

If you use NOED you are playing with 3 perks for most of the game with a risk of having 3 perks all game.

You also expect all the gens to get done which as a killer is a bad mindset to have.

That's why folks are so against it.

  • From your avatar I assume you play Trapper? You have Corrupt Intervention on your Trapper, right?

If not, well then that's half the problem right there.

  • I've always been a shut-in but now the whole family is staying home as well most days. The exception is my mother who works part-time at Michael's. Yeah, the arts and crafts store is still open and having business as usual during a pandemic. I guess corporate doesn't care if everyone dyes. (Homophone pun intended.)

  • My only guess is that he accidentally held the match hostage via a 3 gen without being aware of it.

  • Looking at this image makes me sad. You didn't try and blur the killer's name and you left your message in the post game chat in clear view. Just because you see 1 Bloody Party Streamer does not mean the game instantly becomes a farm fest. The fact that you assumed that was the case worries me greatly.

I'm playing killer in these days to do the challenge of tome 2, today I happened 4 games of ######### ... they make me toxic by trolling and debugging me, they have nerfed the charges of the cassettes but no nserve to nothing ######### continue to ruin the game on the killer side making your life hell, I do not pretend to always win by killing everyone, but at least I pretend that you do a clean game where games don't end in 5 seconds! in the last 2 games for the stealing and the outburst I also started to insult them in chat because in my opinion these types of subjects believe that the killer is a nabbo, when I am convinced that these cabbage psychopaths playing hours and hours mentally calculate the tepo away from the window and the animations of the survior and the killer to be able to always sneak away from my shots! is absurd! then when I play survivor the killer always has the hook close and my teammates are always nabbi who don't even make a gen! there is crazy..it will be because i will be italian and we italians are unlucky ... but it is not possible that in a game where the survivors should be afraid and terror, you find yourself being trolled and gen rushing to ######### all the time, and ridiculous RIDICLE! and Dbd is not even a difficult game that you say which keys it takes to learn are only 2 commands in the caper cross yet, as usual there are always rude and uncivilized players who must always ruin the fun of the other players ... I know both these words that I am writing will not help even because I don't think I'm the only one here in this community..toxic who continually complains about the imbalance of the game, as if I were shouting wolf wolf but nobody wants to listen to me .. so I conclude by saying that if it were for me the repair speed of the generators must be slowed down somehow otherwise the killer does not have time to think about a strategy, and on the survivor side the killer must give the surv a minimum of time to be able to play because otherwise being killed immediately is not fun.

Out of curiosity, what killer were you playing when this gen-rushing problem occurred? I understand that many killers have issues with quick generator times, but I cannot offer help unless I understand what killer was used.

I just won a game, here is what I did: Start of the game, put some traps in generators and stuff. Mid game, 3 generators left, already hit 3 guys once, some fell into traps and stuff. Later game, 2 guys alive, 1 generator left. They fled together, got one and hooked him. So, I stayed with Insidious in another side of the room (because I knew those guys were trying to save each other everytime). That tactic is good. If they wanna save each other, and I am lurking in the rooms, it's a win for me. The other guy tried to save and I killed him. Is that camping for bad? I just did what was the best to do.

There is nothing wrong with camping and you made a good call camping in that scenario. The only reason I said camping can be inefficient is due to the fact that some killers will camp hooks from the very beginning of the game and end up wasting a lot of time (2 mins per person) lurking at the hook.

  • @ZeroCelsiuz In Dead by Daylight it's generally agreed upon that if you're lurking within 8-10 meters of a hooked survivor that you're camping them.

In terms of efficiency with hook sacrifices, on most killers this is a bad call since you'll generally get more points for perks and add-ons by chasing survivors, even if they get away. However, you are free to do whatever you want in game as a killer as long as it doesn't break any rules. If my memory serves me right, the game Director himself, Mathieu Cote was(/is?) a camper who originally used the "beartrap directly under hooked survivor" technique when it was still a thing. I mean last time I saw him play he was playing Hag in Korea so I still think he's a defensive killer player.

What I'm trying to say is, if you're lurking around a hook and you don't know anyone else is there, then you are camping, but, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Play however you like.

    Hey everyone

Just wanted to have a proper discussion on how this community handles frustation

When I see a discussion of someone claiming they will unistal the game and they do point out the issues with the game all the comments they get are either "see you next week" "get gud" and "bye"

Shouldn't we as a community try to keep players instead of driving them away? The number of players have been decreassing ever since the ruin nerf, and the frustations keep increasing, but instead of making proper discussions in this forum, all there is are comments of people telling others to either go away or to "get gud"

I agree that part of the frustations come from the developers side of balancing, but we as the community for this game should aim to make players keep playing and have proper discussions here in the forums with hopes for a better community

Well, the "You'll be back" remarks have a solid foundation. If you've ever heard of the sunk cost fallacy or escalation of commitment and if you've played enough Dead by Daylight to want to make a forum account. Then, you've probably invested so much time in Dead by Daylight that by the time you finally try to quit, you've invested so much time to the grind that you'll come back as otherwise you'll see that time as wasted.

That's my understanding of the responses, anyway.

  • I mean, what else can they really do now? The devs made Saboteur a reactionary thing so they can't prep hooks. The only other thing they can do is totems and most killers don't like that.

  • @TheVampyreSlayer said:

I really hope we get a male asian survivor soon. If we do, what killer do you think would come with him?

We have Jake now, and he is of Asian descent.

  • It comes down to personal preference really. I know that in general Shadownborn III makes it easier for me to aim my shock therapy, but that's just me.

  • I'd say Monitor and Abuse is his greatest perk. Giving survivors only 1 meter of warning is huge and can let you potentially jump scare people.

    Other good perks though?

I'd say Corrupt Intervention is a must as it'll give you time to cross the map.

I know my aim is bad without Shadowborn so I'll always have it.

Finally, NOED or Rancour are very nice on him.

Though if you don't bring a mori or devour Rancour might be the better perk for the mid game info and the end game dragging people out of the exit to down and mori them.
