Yeah, Steam here. Preordered the Deluxe. Linked the Steam account to Bhvr account. No rewards.

We have the Collectors Edition, with all the killers through Trickster and the extra miniatures, and we love the game. We started with the base retail edition that I got from my son for Father's Day, and loved even that version so much that we went ahead and spent more than I ever have on a board game and found a Collector's Edition (sealed) online.
Off topic, but we also bought the little Scream game from Funko that just came out, and that's also a fun, very quick, game.
Already plan to get the Halloween (1978) and Texas Chainsaw Massacre board games, and the associated miniature packs, from Trick-or-Treat Studios when they release.

But BHVR are licencing the use of the Dead By Daylight IP and Copyright to NetEase (I believe), who in turn are developing the game and cosmetics, hence why they must renegotiate contracts (allowing for new licenced cosmetics for Sadako + Yoichi and explaining why there's no Resident Evil content).
If it is Netease, then the two companies aren't entirely separate. Netease bought a minority stake in Behavior back in 2019. One would think they could swap basic cosmetics for non-licensed characters.

Cheers man, never heard of containment breach I’ll give it a try.
Im a filthy console player so I’m still waiting for VHS but might give in and try it on pc, been a while since I last saw footage.
Thanks for the film recommendation though, that looks decent, will definitely give it a try
VHS is probably closest to DbD, but as you pointed out, PC only right now. That said, I did their closed beta and did not like it at all.
About the only other horror asymmetrical game out there with a player base is Evil Dead. Well, unless you're on the west coast, U.S.
Folks on the west coast cannot get survivor matches after like 2pm for close to a month now. Why, no one knows, and Saber hasn't commented on it. They've either had to resort to VPNs to "not" be on the west coast, or online friends from central or eastern U.S. to host the lobbies.

I'm of two minds.
1). On paper, it definitely sounds like a lot, yet
2). This really wouldn't bother someone who didn't tunnel the same person immediately.
This would also be true . . . on paper. Except there are already videos out there showing how aggressively it is being used for body-blocking the Killer.

Loved Evolve. It got unbelievably trashed by people in favor of the ridiculously barebones Overwatch. Seriously, if that game didn't have the Blizzard logo on it, it wouldn't have survived. Evolve was definitely ahead of its time.
Yeah . . . I played Overwatch. In my defense, though, my eldest bought it for me on a pre-order before launch because he wanted me to play with everyone. I only did it in a Friends & Family six-stack.
None of us will be playing OW2, though. As far as we're concerned, that franchise is dead to us. We did the Beta for it, and it is bad beyond words. Not to mention that OW2 will be F2P with all the heavy-handed monetization that comes along with that, and I don't support those models.

Competition is a good thing, However DBD is the gold standard when it comes to the asymmetrical genre! After all it invented it.
Others will try to add there own flair to it which is a great thing for the genre as we are all fans of it so lets support and grow I say.
But in regards to changes I feel this has been a long time coming and Behavior have been playing close attention to current meta, so it's time for a shake up not to mention all the feedback they have received.
DbD did not invent the game genre. Evolve predated DbD, for example.

For a source, just go back to when they lost the license. They stated that the associated perks would be renamed and moved to the general pool. As a result, none of the Stranger Things characters have perks associated with them anymore.
As far as finding the posts from back then, do your own homework.

Unless a game has a "Streamer Mode" wherein I can hide my in-game name from viewers, I always dodge TTVs in a lobby, in any game.
-
Welcome back!
It's funny, because I just reinstalled the game myself after a very long break. Been playing some Evil Dead and am in the mood for some DbD again (not anything against Evil Dead, as I plan to play both).
First thing I'm doing this evening is deleting all bookmarks to these forums and pretending they don't exist. I've learned that if I want to enjoy DbD or Overwatch, avoid both game forums like the plague. Too much whining and complaining, and after a while it gets into my brain like an extraterrestrial parasitic worm.

Honestly? I haven't spent any money on cosmetics in the four years I've owned the game.

Evil Dead and VHS are currently in only 1 platform allowing their devs to release patches more easily and faster.
The next 3 major patches will include game-changing features and tweaks players asked for and rewards for the veterans who still play. I don't think they're doing wrong, this is the best news we got since years ago.
Correct about VHS. Wrong about Evil Dead.
Evil Dead is on PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Xbox X/S, with Switch still coming down the pipe. And with full crossplay between all platforms.

I think Evil Dead is pretty good, but I'm not sure if I'm biased because I am a huge Evil Dead fan (as is my father).
Just sucks that people love stealing AoD Ash from me, he means so much to me :(
(Context is that Army of Darkness was how I was introduced to the Evil Dead series as a whole. Saw that movie on the TV back in elementary school with my dad.)
I will probably get the game for my dad for Father's Day.
That's mainly because AoD Ash is considered overtuned at the moment, so everyone and their kid sibling wants to grab him. I can't speak from any experience on the matter, though. My main is Ash vs Evil Dead Ash, and then ED1 Ash for support. But AoD Ash hasn't given me any particular issues when playing Demon.

Nope. I just don't take any game's forum that seriously. They're just a central repository for complaints and whining, regardless of what game forum it is.

BHVR delivered yesterday, this is a step in the right direction for DBD. I hope this brings lots of players back.
Maybe. For me, personally, I'll see by the end of the year if I come back to spend any meaningful gaming time in DbD. While the announcements sounded great, BHVR is going to have to deliver on them all, from the Bots to the perk overhauls and the core game changes that go along with that, before I make a decision.
The announcements, themselves, won't bring me back because until the changes are actually implemented, it's still the same DbD and the same issues that caused me to leave in the first place.

Oh wow didn’t know about that, looks really good. Like how if you play as the demon you don’t really get into direct combat, you just control things around you.
Yep. You can possess cars and trees, set traps in chests and jump scare traps, can spawn and possess Deadites for direct combat (including your chosen Boss Demon and the two Elites), and once their fear meter is high enough can possess the player-character survivors as well for a short time. Survivors meanwhile have a multi-phase objective: Find the map pieces, then find the Necronomicon pages and the Kandarian Dagger, then battle the Dark Ones in a major boss fight, then claim the Necronomicon.
Once the Dark Ones battle phase start, any survivors that go down cannot be brought back to their feet, they're out.
While doing that, survivors also want to loot chests for weapons, things like the Pink F drink, sodas, and matchsticks (to make campfires to reduce fear), and other goodies.

The show just kind of ignored most of the movies. The pieces were there (Ash and his chainsaw, the evil dead/deadittes, the book, etc) but I feel like you could have seen absolutely nothing of Evil Dead and figured it all out.
I'd still recommend watching everything (though I did not see the remade movie, did you? Is it any good?) still. All 3 movies and the show are great and I'm really hoping the new game will also be great as I love me some Evil Dead and I love me my asymmetrical multiplayer vidja games.
The show also did a good job of using flashback images from the movies as Ash was telling Pablo his past and such to catch viewers up.
I have not seen the 2013 remake yet, though it apparently takes place in the Ash universe, as he appears briefly in the end. They'd also planned an Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness 2 at one point to set-up a crossover between Ash and Mia, but the remake sequel never came to be (the director had his major success, Don't Breathe, during that period) and they went with the TV show for Ash instead.

Weirdly enough, I only just recently saw ED1 and 2.
I loved Army of Darkness growing up and I went through Ash v Evil Dead as it was coming out. It was only last year that I finally saw the original two movies.
ED 1 & 2 are a weird thing. They "kind of" redid ED 1 in the beginning of ED 2 and made it just Ash and Linda that went to the cabin. But in Ash vs Evil Dead, it was all of them as per the first film.
It seems there was a rights issue with the first film when making the second: "The reason for the retcon at the beginning of the movie was explained by Campbell in a clip from the special features of Evil Dead 2 (via Den of Geek), where he revealed that Raimi didn’t own the rights to his own movie, so they had to shoot a recap with different actors, which ended up becoming a different story." (Link: Why Evil Dead 2 Retcons The Original 1981 Movie | Screen Rant).
I understand they were in a similar rights boat with the show, which was why Army of Darkness was never really mentioned or shown in the flashback sequences.

I always have it on in the background while reading in bed at night. Love the show. But I also grew-up on Evil Dead. I was around 9 when the original film came out in 1981 (I originally said 10 in another thread, but thought it came out in 1982, not 1981).

Ash vs Evil Dead was never a Netflix show. It was originally broadcast weekly on Starz from 2015-2017 and was done by Starz. Which was even how I originally watched it.
Netflix just got the rights from Starz to broadcast it after the fact.

I personally don't understand the whole 'will x be the death of DBD?'
No developer makes a game with that idea in their mind. It's like with VHS, all people ever did was talk about this rivalry that only existed amongst the fans while the developers were bantering with each other on Twitter.
Each new asymmetrical game will develop their own reputation and hopefully stand on their own two feet.
Yeah, Evil Dead: The Game won't kill DbD. I honestly doubt it will dent it. It is an asymmetrical game, yes, but plays entirely different. This goes back to the whole Valorant will kill Overwatch because they were both shooters with heroes with albitites. Two different game styles with a different target audience.
I'll be playing Evil Dead more than DbD simply because after being in the beta, I prefer the gameplay style of Evil Dead over the game play style of DbD. But I freely admit I was not the target audience for DbD. I find survivor here boring (I preferred counselor in FF13, where I could at least attempt to fight back), and never cared too much for having to hook people regardless of Killer.
It's all the same reason VHS is also on my radar.
-
A better game? Well, that's subjective. While I used to enjoy the Killer aspect here, I never enjoyed the survivor side of the game. It's just boring for me. I enjoyed counselor in FF13 a heck of a lot more. At least I had a chance of fighting back there. From what I hear of the Texas Chainsaw game, it'll be a lot like here: you don't fight back as survivor. That's a 'meh' from me.
Meanwhile, I grew-up on Evil Dead. The first one released when I was 10 years old. I love Evil Dead. All three films, all three seasons of the TV show, and even the Army of Darkness comic books. I was lucky enough to get into the beta for Evil Dead: The Game and I found it amazingly fun on both sides. I already preordered and can't wait for Friday.
Is it better? Again, depends on the person. It is to me because I prefer that type of game play over the DbD style. I only played DbD because it was the only game in town for that PvP horror fix.

But in Overwatch... everyone knows tracer is lesbian
Tracer wasn't the one that caused the uproar in the community, though. Soldier 76 suddenly being revealed as gay is what caused the issues over there.
People here keep bringing up Tracer when referencing Overwatch. Barely anyone cared over there that Tracer was gay. The problems in the community started with the Soldier 76 reveal out of left field. The uproar was also exacerbated by the fact that, by that time (unlike when Tracer was revealed to be gay years earlier), Lore had pretty much stopped being produced and all Michael Chu worried about was what inclusion card he could play next. Something he admitted in an interview after leaving Blizzard.
At least BHVR continues to expand their lore.
-
Except DbD isn't an LGBT+ game, and I'm not going to help put it into a false category simply because it now has one LGBT+ character. Hell, Overwatch has two such characters (Tracer and Soldier 76) and still isn't an LGBT+ game, either.
So, no.

Thats my point here, it doesnt do ANYTHING. There is literally no point in officially posting and announcing that except trying to catch the attention about that which just seems weird to me?
For instance Tracer from overwatch is lesbian, did Blizzard now start a huge celebration party? No it was just writtten in her lore page and thats it, dont see any issue with that honestly.
It was actually first revealed in the free Xmas season comic book they released where they showed her partner, Emily, as well.
But you're correct that Blizzard did not go posting it all over the internet. The player base did that for them. Same as when they revealed Soldier 76 to be gay in the Ana short story. Blizzard didn't have to market a damned thing for either instance, their happy or angry players are free marketing. 🙄
That said, Blizzard is still guilty of marketing their inclusion additions. Go watch the hour long Dev Stream on Sojourn from a week or so ago. At a time they could have gone into her ability kit, place on the roster, synergies, etc, they instead spent the entire hour pushing and pushing and emphasizing that she is the first female black character added to the game. Which made their inclusion addition then come off as a slapdash P.R. stunt, instead.

My favorite one was when I was Bubba and hooked a Bill. Soon as I turn around, here come two other survivors. One tries to body-block me as the other unhooks. I mowed through them with the chainsaw. Saw the BT trigger, and the extended sweep time hit them again and again.
All three immediately went down, including the one that thought BT would save them from the Bubba AoE chainsaw sweeps.
Three D/Cs then followed. 🤷♂️
-
I remember as a kid in the 80s having to wait my turn to play an arcade game. Quarter goes on the machine behind all of the current player's quarters, and you got to stand there and watch that person play instead of playing, yourself.
Oh, what fun!
I don't watch Streamers. I play video games. If I want to watch something, I have endless TV show and movie channels to view.
-
Do it, your time-spent will thank you. The Devs here have zero clue how to balance an asymmetrical PvP game, and after 6 years that is extremely unlikely to change. And if it did change, it would be so slow in coming that it wouldn't matter in the end.
Since I uninstalled a while ago, I've played all three Dragon Age games, all four Mass Effect games, Quantumn Break, Control, Cyberpunk 2077, messed around in Overwatch, resubbed to Final Fantasy 14 for a few months, and other stuff.
And all of that, even individually, was infinitely more pleasurable than one night spent in this mess of a game from Behavior Interactive.

So what? I also like Paladins, but it doesn't have more players than those games, either. Just because I like a game doesn't mean I'm going to believe their spin. For example, I noticed how they clearly stated "two million players logging in every day," and not unique players or users. That could make a significant difference in how their count is achieved.

Your rating means nothing beyond placing you in matches where you've got an equal chance of winning and losing, and it already does that without predictive penalties & bonuses.
Maybe it creates matches with an equal chance of winning or losing in some alternate reality or parallel Earth, but that's a whole different thread topic.

Those things are still balance issues and not matchmaking issues, though? The fact that you have to dump a bunch of bloodpoints into a character before you have all perk slots unlocked or even usable perks to fill them with isn't a problem with the matchmaking, and especially not the MMR.
(Does WoW have PVP? I legit didn't know that, I haven't played it before.)
WoW does, yes. Has since launch in 2004. Not only that, but in typical Blizzard asinine fashion, they even turned it into an eSport.

Somehow people are still addicted to the game.
I worked in the game industry for 14 years. Fun fact: gamers have addictive personalities on average. Not only has Blizzard marketing used that to their advantage for decades, but I even used it to great success over in the Tabletop RPG industry. Dead by Daylight uses it effectively in the bloodweb grind and the small endorphin releases that elements of the game provides to players. So, yes, I would agree, and even say that addicted to the game is an accurate assessment.

Sbmm doesn't fit a Casual game like DBD
I'm wondering if at some point BVHR had considered some sort of eSport scene for DbD. Because there was a survey that I took for them, between the initial round of SBMM being put in August 2020 (and promptly removed) and the current live version hitting the game in 2021, where they asked me a lot of questions about whether or not I watched esports, if I bought esport merchandise, my thoughts on Overwatch League, and more.
Then, suddenly, SBMM is live in the game, but now they seem to want it to be a casual party game again.
It's like they don't know which direction they want to take the game. Or they wanted it to be an esport, but maybe the survey results indicated the player base did not. I, for one, told them that I don't watch esports and have zero interest in them. I made it clear in my responses that: yes, I play Overwatch. But I do not play ranked matches and do not watch nor follow the Overwatch League, and have no interest in that facet of the game.

Source? From what I can tell, they have shown very little effort in dealing with this long-standing problem.
They mentioned in a stream months ago that they were trying solutions internally. They also mentioned that it was rough, and none of the attempts might ever see the light of day. Being BVHR, I would err on the side of never see light of day.
-
In four months of time BVR can barely fix a bug. Making any solid game play changes in that time frame is not within their wheelhouse.
