@Ashkiin Thanks. Yeah, I might start with him. I liked what I saw of his play style in the videos, and I can always use BP to unlock the Leatherface and hag perks.

@Ashkiin , Question. Being 45-years-old, I am really partial to Michael Myers as a horror killer. How is he for starting out? I'd watched a few videos on using his power, but is he a waste perk-wise?
Oh, and I do suck with chainsaws so far.

I was going to do Dwight first for survivor, as I liked the team-oriented perks he started with, but it seems from responses that Claudette is the way to go. Fortunately, I only have six levels invested in Dwight, so no huge BP loss at this stage.
Seems the general consensus is Leatherface or Hag due to perks. I don't have anything really invested in killers yet. I was going to do Anna, but it seems I should go for those two and get their perks, first. I can live with that.
Had HybridPanda bookmarked already. Just did the same for Monto.
I'll watch some guide videos on Hag and Leatherface.

Well, I've barely played the game (I have limited play time, and the wife likes us to duo-group in Overwatch), but was just on and, at Rank 20, spent around 10 minutes or so in queue as both survivor and killer, and finally just gave up.
Now, don't misread that: I am not calling the game out as dying. I know from the forums that Rank 20 is low population. But, that said, I've been watching it on the Steam Charts. It's been dropping players in August and the past 30 days, and right now is sitting at a little over 11k players. If it continues in that direction, it's going to trend back to where it was in Spring 2017, which was very low according to the chart data. If that happens, a cosmetic shop isn't going to do much, unless there are a disproportionate amount of whales in DBD.
Is the game dying? Not in my opinion. The charts show they just came off some nice growth over the May-July 2018 months. If the revenue is invested properly, they might have a decent safety net if the game does start suffering a player loss, and August-September isn't just pre-school year starting slump.
But as a Rank 20, it's a damned shame about the queues. Unfortunately, there are other games I can play where being a newbie doesn't give me queues that offer very few actual matches for my gaming time. I don't blame Behavior for that. The game is over two-years-old and the population is generally higher ranks, now, and obviously not pulling in enough new players. Just the nature of the beast. Shame, as it was a game I was willing to support.

I own DBD and all the DLCs thanks to the steam sale, but haven't really jumped into it yet. Been in Overwatch the past two years, but unless you are GM or Top500, that game has become so designed for soccer-mons now (no offense to the soccer-moms of the world) that playing a character that takes actual mechanical skill is a liability thanks to heroes like Moira, the new Symmetra rework, Brigitte, and others.
When they announced the Hamster hero in the metal (well, basically) Hamster Ball that can roll around a match, I realized it's probably time to finally move on.
