That would legit cull a decent amount of players from the community. Especially since if I'm not mistaken, according to stats from Behaviour themselves, the vast majority of games have at least a duo. I'm not gonna go as far as to say removing swf would kill the game but it would drastically reduce the game's lifespan. After all, if people are only playing this game to have some fun with mates then removing the option to swf then they're just gonna stop playing altogether. I don't think Keeping swfs in customs wouldn't solve the problem you'd have created by removing swfs. You don't gain bp in customs so you lose that sense of progression that's present in the regular game.

We need casual mode without ranking where SWF is allowed. And give monthly rank rewards for players to promote people to play solo
Based on their past decisions, the devs have consistently only made changes that will not split the playerbase or hurt queue times, and removing SWF would do both.
Since something like 80% of the players are survivors and more than half of all matches have at least a two-man team in them, SWF is now deeply ingrained into this game. Can't remove it, stop friends from playing an online multiplayer together, and at least on Xbox can't prevent comms. Not without doing very critical harm and maybe even that famous "killing off this game". It's too late.
The only method that makes sense to me has been repeated lots of times: raise solo to closer to SWF levels, then rebalance killers around that. Exactly how to do all that is very much debatable, but I think is the only way now.

I have my lovely ladies I run almost all the time, and rotate em to keep them fresh; Kate, Yuri, Claud, and Zarina. They have the perks i love to run, decked out in semi-dark clothes, and are short & not too loud.
Every so often I roll out painted up rockstar Jeff, but he is loud af and still lacks a perk I want.

Because taking risks in a video game is exciting and fun? And when it does work it's a really good feeling. It's so boring playing by the books all the time, what's life without a little risk?
For me trying to do what's best for the team is why I play when surviving. Things like wasting the killer's time in chase, sneaky movements to lose em, timely bodyblocks, clutch gens, and safe unhooks and such.
Can't really screw around as killer though, if I really want 3-4 kills. Way too stressful against skilled survs, and cannot boop snoots every match.
-
Love you too dearest Skies! :)
-
Just what solos need, another self-inflicted wound. I see this from time to time and cannot understand why it is being done. Only helps the killer.
-
PGTW doesn't work with Hex: Ruin, because you aren't kicking any gens, but I've seen killers bring both in case Ruin is found early and Pop is their back up for slow-down.
-
I bypass the entity-loving fudge outta this problem by just calling this perk "Monitor".

Will the average PCer stick around 17 minutes while we slowly painfully type out GG and Nice Bodyblock and the like on my Xbox1??

This happens to my group a couple times a week. one of us will lose connection as game starts, and the game takes about 30 to 60 seconds to realize what is going on and cancels it. This has never triggered the 5 minute penalty either for us. I'd say this happens 1 in 30 or so games.
Same for me, but a couple times a day someone lags out of I'm in a group. Always required them to restart their game, sometimes their console.

Why are Killers locked and you can't change them in the lobby and you must dodge the lobby like an idiot.
Why this mechanic is not apply to Survivors aswell? What Killer can do? Have prepared something ultra toxic for survivors, but. I don't like these Survivors who's changing their characters in Ready phase like 6 seconds before match start. With all these med-kits, flashlights, offerings and add-ons all prepared in SWF group. It's not fair for Killer be bullied like this.
I was doing this aswell like in 2017 when was "fun" to sabotage all hooks, blind Killer with your laser flashlight, using insta BNP or heals and I feel dumb now and sorry for all these Killers who must face my group back in time.
Now I'm playing just as solo Survivor and it's still a thing, but Killer can't do anything, just throw the game or get upset.
So my suggestion is, when you want to be toxic whole game prepare yourself in pre-lobby, take your medicine, lights etc. and press the button for Ready if you're hero like this. Many times I found 3man group sitting for 1 minute in lobby and when timer is 6 seconds they all change their characters. They play like ######### and Killer must play like ######### aswell, these games are not funny. If I don't get cooldown for disconnect it would be first what I do after map is loaded. Because these guys doing literally nothing, just jumping like a monkey around the map and trying to bully the Killer.
The killer lock is necessary for whenever the mmr is re-enabled the devs have said.
Sad how abusive some are with the last-minute swapping to mislead a killer. I personally do not do this, and when I'm a group I consistently point out switching skins and items around at all during the countdown usually leads to mori's and sweaty trials. Feels like poking the bear to me.
Another point of view is the argument "it's in the game why not use it" and it is harder to deny that one.

All of the indoor maps can throw themselves down a well. Then we pour in the concrete to make sure. Hate em all with a flaming passion as killer or survivor. Can't find gens. Can't find totems. Can't memorize tiles.
Luckily I don't run any map-dependant builds as killer, but as survivor I've been running through map offerings to not get any indoor maps. Inspired several Myers, Ghosties, and Docs to dc when they fail to get their map.

While it doesn't solve the issues completely it is best to make sure that your FPS is locked to a multiple of 30 that your system can maintain at all times.
Having a fluctuating FPS, even mildly, greatly exacerbates the issues even more so if they aren't locked to a multiple of 30.
This sounds great! Can't wait to try it out!!
Umm.... ok............ so how exactly do I do this, er....... with my Xbox1???

It's getting to be a joke now. This is a competitive game, so problems like this shouldnt exsist. You cannot do anything about getting hit during a pallet stun, vauling a pallet or a window. Why is this still a problem? I can't believe I have been away for 6+months and the game is still in this state.
Latency is the cause of most of these hits. That's where your angst should be directed I believe.

I think the only nerfs I want for swf is locking map offerings and OoO.
Idc about comms, Idc about anything else just those things.
Not wanting certain maps against SWF, or in general as killer, is more a reflection of balance issues on them imo, that coordinated and/or good survs can work to their advantage.
Also preventing map offerings to one role but not the other will lead to survs wanting to prevent say a wall-hack build killer from putting up an indoor map offering for instance.
-
That's some harsh stuff there with that lunge actually hitting you, from your screen. Due to latency, on the killer's screen they were 2-4 steps closer to you, so the hit looked much more legit there I bet. If that Freddy was streaming it'd be interesting to see their pov.

Didn't they literally put systems in place for this? So much for that I guess lol. The killer I mentioned wasnt even at the base of the stairs though.
Dedicated servers amplified latency imo, but of course your set-up and connection influence it as well.
My favorite is in chase you throw a pallet, get hit, get the stun killer points, but no actual stun occurs and you are leleported back to the killer's side as well. And I run Lithe most times too, so I'm also ehausted, meaning I took a step on the other side of the pallet, but..
-
Most likely latency. The killer is almost always 2-3 steps closer than they appear
-
Anti-momentum perk for free!.
In all seriousness a year is a long time for an oft-mentioned problem to still be in every match.

Now I know the matchmaking system isn’t good at the moment (ranks don’t reflect skill, last MMR trial failed, yada yada), but with what’s currently in place and what may be introduced in the new MMR system, should there be a difference with the Rank/MMR standards between platforms?
What counts as Red Rank on one platform can be drastically different on another, and you can really feel the difference in cross-platform heavy matches. It doesn’t help that certain controls for Killers vary between platforms as well, so what may be weak on Console can be strong on PC, and vice versa.
I find it painful to get matched with a team of Console players who get destroyed by a PC Killer because they’ve basically been thrown into the deep end, and I don’t even want to know how miserable it must be to play a Console Killer against a team of PC Survivors.
Should the system be tweaked so cross-platform matches feel more fair and not like a teeth-pulling simulator?
I feel the performance gaps of fps and latency between the platforms is a far more serious concern than which controls are being used. As survivor the differences are less pronounced than being an Xbox1 killer imo.

Here is something you may not know about DH, maybe you play on console who knows.
On pc all you need to do is press shift and E to dead hard.
You may need to move a little bit just like how Jane did before the dead hard but that is how it works.
On Xbox it's just the "x" button, but of course you need to pray hard to the ded server dieties with each use.

I frankly am significantly more interested in the chat than I am this big blue boye here. Is there anyway to have it like, not come up in the post-game lobby? Having to click on it to make it go away is quite annoying, especially when I accidentally click one of those buttons.
I want the chat, not the rift crap. I don't even have a challenge selected as you can see lmao :\
I wouldn't mind a change to this as well, and us consolers don't even have this mystical & much talked about chat box. I get its purpose in updating any progress in the rift and/or challenges. Maybe shrink it some to better coexist with that chat thingy, or a toggle to disable it if wanted.
Def makes sense to have the option to temporarily remove it for those who have completed the current rift, and maybe an option to have it pop back up when the next Rift updates.
Many possibilities here.

Bubba needs more BP I’ve had 12 hook perfect games where my brutality isn’t even halfway and chase isn’t much better, so instead of the average 25k-32k you’d get for a 4K you get 17k-23k. Just make it so he gets 600 brutality point per down on a healthy survivor. Feel free to comment or critique.
For the chainsaw bros and their emblems you actually need to hit survs without their power first then the chainsaw to down them, if you're interested in max bloodpoints.
I know it sounds counterintuitive, but more basic hits and a bit longer successful chases are needed. As far as emblems go, one can argue several killer's powers actually hurt their scoring, which many have brought up before in questioning the emblem system itself.

On Xbox. Tried several streams and a few on YT but always taken. After the concerns about consolers became known most streamers tried various ways to level the playing field, but I saw two who did not and said they're just "pumping out the numbers until they're gone" and when asked about console's chances both remarked "quite low" and the like. I did not follow either.
Towards the end of their giveaways even the nicest streamers seemed burnt out and bothered, through no fault of their own.
I hope the devs handle such events differently in the future and think them through.

I feel like every game I go into, console players or players with the circle symbol next to their name always have pings in the 100s. And there's always a delay when you try to interact with them. This would also put them at a severe disadvantage when the new hitbox system comes out (if it ever comes out) since it judges hits based on ping. Is there a reason for this?
Ever since the patch after Blight came out my ping is solid yellow and waffles between 120 and 140. Used to be green and 70-90ish before that patch. I clearly remember it because Blight's patch caused mine and almost all other Xbox1x consoles to insta-overheat, making the game unplayable for a week.
No changes have been made to my rig in months.

I would like to know the reasons. I totally get that playing killer on console is a disadvantage, partially because of frame rate and partially for aiming (e.g. you're more likely to get spun, it's harder to play killers like Huntress that require good aim). I don't feel that playing survivor on console puts you at much of a disadvantage, though. Survivor gameplay just doesn't require precision aiming like killer gameplay does. Frame rate isn't as high as PC, but it's much better than when playing killer and certainly much less disruptive. The frame drops from getting hit with Sloppy Butcher or just generally having status effects applied exist on PC too btw, even for PCs substantially above the recommended hardware requirements.
Since console survivors aren't really at much of a disadvantage versus PC survivors, then, turning off crossplay as killer shouldn't actually help you much as a console killer. You're still going to be at a disadvantage regardless of whether or not crossplay is turned on. The ones who would be more likely to benefit from turning off crossplay would be console survivors, since that'd ensure that they'd be matched against console killers, who are at a disadvantage compared to PC killers.
That post was only with playing the killer role in mind on console. I play killer with Crossplay off for those very fps reasons you mention, which are made so much worse on indoor maps (especially Lery's). Then there are the sudden drops whenever BL would kick in, Exposed or Sloppy or whatever activates, a gen pops nearby, a chest is searched near me, DH, Lithe, or SB is used, even hooking a survivor gives a momentary pause.
I understand all killers not on top-notch PCs experience these issues but it is so much more pronounced on console even though in theory they can run DBD smoother but don't. Now throw in just not being able to turn fast enough, and flicks are darn near impossible. And of course no filters, awesome sound cards, video settings, and the other toys legit or otherwise.
I emplore all PC killers to borrow a friend's Xbox1 or PlayStation4 and give killer a go for a while, pretty please. Maybe then relate your own experiences, and understand a lil better why many feel it is no where near a level playing field.

Your fault for being a console player. If you didn't want your system to become archaic you should have bought a PC.
I use a computer all day long at work, and don't want to game on one. Gaming to me is a controller in my hand on a console, has been since my first Colecovision. And I doubt I'm alone in feeling that.
The root of it is the performance of this game, and just this game, on console. Almost two years have passed since the devs swore on a stack of tech manuals we all would get that steady 60 fps no matter the platform. Hasn't happened, and now it feels like "Yeah about that... well sorry but........ bye............."

Ssssh don’t talk about enabling/disabling crossplay. Some people might think BHVR will force them to use/not use it because it affects queue times.
I play on Xbox1, one of the smallest pools, and I won't have a Series X anytime soon. And neither can i just play with those who have gotten the Series X because Microsoft or the devs or both consider them separate platforms. So my tiny pool is slowly draining out, and after the holidays might be quite empty.
Would you feel forced into Crossplay as well?

Both the entity and the emblems want more than three hooks. And I'm pretty sure that Mori'd surv actually wanted to play as well.
Fun had by all...

I believe most console killers have Crossplay turned off, many like me since it came out. So the other platforms would see few in their matches.
If anyone would like to know the reasons just ask.

I’m new to the game and bought it because it seemed fun, especially the killer role. But I have really bad anxiety and didn’t anticipate how stressful it could be. My first game put me against purple ranked survivors. I hit three people the entire game. No downs. No hooks. I chose Billy and kept running into things, lol. I figured it was because I was new and they were so above my rank, so I tried again even though that experience was awful.
Luckily, after that first game, I somewhat consistently got at least two other grey/yellow ranked people. I managed to get to rank 13 with Huntress and only Huntress. But it’s mostly because new players literally run in a straight line. It wasn't long before I ended up encountering people who knew how to dodge, and I realized I’m a terrible Huntress. It's kind of amazing how bad I am at hitting targets.
So, how long did it take you guys to get to a point where you were at least semi-confident in yourself? Who did you start out with?
I’m not complaining about being bad, by the way. I didn’t expect to be a pro on my first few tries, and I sincerely don’t care about losing. I'm just asking because I feel extraordinarily bad. Like, worse than average. And it's kind of discouraging. It would just be nice to know about everyone else's journey into becoming a decent killer main.
And, side note, I really wish they had a tutorial mode for each killer.
I still haven't got good and I've been playing for over two years ;)

Trust me when i say i want to enjoy it, it's half of the game i bought.
And there is a way: For me, Survivor needs something brand new, not just new.
So i mean: No new Perks with 1 having a gimmick-y mechanic like Red Herring, Any Means Necessary, or For The People.
You know what was brand new? Obsession, Hexes, EGC to a small degree.
Maybe early game needs to consist of actually connecting those gens to each other, then to the doors once powered? Or facing a fisherman killer that tosses cripling nets that have to be fought off as you move like gremlin Victor?
Dunno. I agree a major shift is needed to shake things up....

Survivor gameplay, no matter what build, is too boring to me.
Now i'm almost a Killer-only player instead of a Killer-main.
How do we lure you back to some surviving? I've evolved into almost a surv main myself but that's mostly due to my Xbox1 frames more than anything else. Being a lowly console killer is, err, unpleasant.
Sabo/wiggle fun? Head-on plays? Friends? Boops? A bud of mine whenever we face Plag will do nothing but chase my ass around all game puking on me, and obviously throwing the game. Other times we leapfrog the pallets no matter which killer.
There must be a way...
-
Add to that sound cards that do this, and filters that do that, and settings that allow for this over here. Hard to deny any of this provides a level playing field, and that's without taking fps issues into account.
If you play on console as I do, expect these "options" as obstacles to overcome. Or there's that Crossplay off toggle of you wish.
