I hate moris as a killer. Don't use them. only for rift challenges and even then only on death hook. They're cheap and universally used as an excuse to tunnel one player out early for an easy game.

Same. I've had a Pig Mori daily sitting there for something like a year.

Something that has annoyed me for quite some time now and got worse with the recent HUD scaling change/bug is how bad the settings menu is.

Simply, players like to have control over many aspects of their game for customisation and I want to present my ideas for a settings menu overhaul.

Split the menu in to 4 major categories:

    • Gameplay
    • Video
    • Audio
    • Controls
    Gameplay:
    • Performance Icons - We have the lobby ping rate next to the chat, as well as the survivor ping rate in the in-game Esc menu. I suggest we have the option to see our FPS and or ping rate on our screen while in-game without needing to go to the Esc menu. Also show us the Killer's ping rate in the Esc menu (without showing their name/killer chosen).
    • Chat Swear Filter - There's many many salty people in this game, something like a simple global swear filter for the chats would be a nice choice for some people. Have it enabled by default with the free choice for each player to turn it off and on as they will.
    • Language - Same as now.
    • Hide All Tutorials - Same as now.
    • Cross-play - Same as now.
    • Privacy Consent - Same as now.
    • Skip Opening Films - As it says, allow us to skip the opening films going straight to the main screen. It's not a major thing, but a nice to have, players appreciate small choices like this one. At the moment we can do so by pressing Esc/Space but being able to bypass that completely would be very nice. We can't rename/delete the .mp4 file as EAC throws a hissy fit at us.
    • Streamer Mode - A setting that blocks the names of other players, used by those live streaming/recording for privacy reasons. Replaces usernames with character names + number, or a blank space.
Video: It's shocking we have so little choice.
    • Fullscreen / Borderless Windowed / Windowed - Allow us to pick 1 of these 3 choices
    • Resolution - Allow us to pick exact resolutions to run the game at. Get rid of the percentage slider we currently have and using our operating systems resolution.
    • Resolution Scale/Pixel Count - Let us pick what percentage of our resolution scale/pixel count.
    • Aspect Ratio - Let us pick the aspect ratio we want. 4:3 / 16:9 / 21:9 etc...
    • Monitor Choice - For those with multiple monitors, allow us to choose which monitor to output the game to.
    • HUD Scale - The scaling of the HUD (needed more than ever after 4.0.0 update)
    • HUD Opacity - Let us choose how opaque the HUD is.
    • FPS Limit - Let us choose our own FPS limit without needing to edit the Engine.ini file.
    • Colourblind Mode - Easier viewing and playing for those who are colourblind.
    • In depth Quality Controls - At the moment we have one overall "Quality" setting. I propose individual choices for the following:
      • Textures / Shadows / Lighting / Effects / Brightness / Vsync(?) / AA(?) / Motion Blur(?)
    Audio:
    • Select Audio Output Device - Let the player choose which audio device they want to output the game to. Rather than system default.
    • Master Volume Slider
    • Menu Volume Slider - Main menu and lobby volume
    • SFX Volume Slider - Generic noise of the game, birds, footsteps, breathing, gens popping, missed skill checks etc...
    • Music Volume Slider
    • Speaker Configuration - Mono / Stereo / 5.1 / 7.1 etc...
    • Mute on Focus - Same as now
    Controls:
    • Mouse Sensitivity - Allow for greater control going to 1 decimal place. Allow separate settings for Survivor and Killer. And further settings for Killers while using ability such as aiming with The Gunslinger. Allow us to adjust vertical and horizontal sensitivity separately.
    • Invert Mouse - Self-explanatory, but allow the option for survivor and killer to be opposites. For example, some players may use inverted when playing as survivor, but not when killer. Due to the 3rd person and 1st person perspective differences.
    • Screens for Survivor and Killer controls to be clearer - At the moment we go to the "Controls" tab and get given the survivor controls, and then click the arrow on the right side of the screen to get to the killer's controls. Make this clearer as to where to go for each type of control, sub-tab them underneath the main "Controls" tab at the top of the screen.
    • Double Bind Controls - At the moment it's one key to one control. Allow players to bind 2 keys to one control. Small QOL change.

Edit 1: + "Streamer Mode" in Gameplay

Edit 2: + "Select Audio Output Device" in Audio as suggested by @Kelmat

How would any of this apply to us lowly consolers?

I think this is correct... I rewatched some clips of people juking me, and my character seems to follow the survivor, but then snaps back to the original direction I was facing. If this is due to auto-aim, then the survivors are breaking auto-aim, just by zigzagging.

I call it losing hits to the "butt wiggle"

interesting that internet latency would cause your console to over heat. seems that there is a problem with your xbox or the installation of the program that would cause this issue. Ping is not something that could even cause anything to over heat...

It wasn't from latency, it was something in that patch that only affected most of the Xbox1x consoles at the time. The other models of Xbox1 didn't have this problem. Me and many others reported it, and it was resolved with the patch after Blight, but was unplayable for a week.

  • @pinkpowerranger said:

what is considered unplayable as far as ping goes? If my lobby is not green, then I back out and look for another game. My internet is not the greatest but my ping is usually around 70 and I get hit when vaulting or dropping pallets when I feel like I definitely was safe. I know getting hit in these situations is common, but I'm talking press x for dead hard before the attack animation and still being exhausted on the ground. When hit validation was turned on i felt like it wasn't as bad but it may have been my imagination. Also are there factors other than ping that affect this. Thank you for any feedback. Accidentally posted in international initially, sorry.

Before Blight's patch came out the ping on my Xbox1x was green 40-70ms. That patch caused the lovely insta-overheat for a week until the following patch, and since then the ping has been yellow & 140-160ms ever since. With no change to my rig. So I have to throw pallets much earlier or swing the blade sooner.

    Ahhhhh the console life.

Sure, but again - there are some perks people just really never use and never want to. So you're basically locking off a character to them because of it. This becomes particularly complex for past purchases where this method never applied before, with people paying money for a character and then suddenly not having any use with them.

You also run into the issue of killers having 4 perks plus a power, and survivors essentially having 3 perks, plus a "power" of their own, so to speak.

I think a perk rework would be a better, less restrictive option, especially if passive abilities were introduced. They could be reworked and balanced around these abilities, while still leaving four perks available for each survivor.

I've always wanted to see the charms finally see a use, so maybe tying a very small passive to a character's charm might work. Say one of Claudette's gives you a 1% healing others bonus, or one of Trapper's let's you set a trap 2% quicker, or a Bill can crawl 1% faster, etc. The bonus must necessarily be tiny to prevent stacking and approaching anything OP, but it would finally give the charms meaning.

A roadmap would be great, but only if they actually stuck to it and/or updated it when things had to change. I'm still salty about their March 2019 optimization roadmap in which they said they were now targeting 60 FPS on all platforms. I've heard basically zero updates on that, all while performance continues to suck. Keeping performance in mind with the new maps is all well and good, but this game has bigger problems than map performance. For example, why do status effects cause the game to freeze?

I do not own an xbox and probably never will but google showed me this:

    1. Navigate to the game in your Library and click on the cog icon.
    2. Once open, click Verify in the drop-down navigation.

there is how you check the game files and that will help. there are probably ways to work with the operating system though on console this is not as easy as it is on a pc because of the fact the companies don't want people messing with it. now here is the rub you can check to make sure you're up to date and if not that can be part of your problem, especially if the program is making use of features that are not present because the update is not downloaded properly or at all

As you suggested I tried this, and not seeing anything labeled "cog" within the library I tried everything else in there and nope. Perhaps it is something only on a new Series X but nothing I could find on my Xbox1.

I do appreciate the input though is consolers have limited info when it comes to this stuff.

honestly I'm sorry you have that kind of internet, but you can blame the people that were using dc's rampant mid 2019 and early 2020 when it was put in. I just saw a match that someone dc'd while they were being recovered by another player. for no good reason. you can always submit a ticket to behavior and talk to them about your internet connection but I don't know what that will do as I've never tried it but it is an option in their ticket system.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1797972#Comment_1797972

if on pc, you should check what else is going on in your windows logs and look at any warning and urgent notification you have in the time frame of the last dc. then i'd verify your download files. on console i'd check your console to make sure the os is not messing up and then check your download files for the game. lots to look at in a game crash, can't just say oh nothing else crashes my system so it has to be their fault. could be a problem with the program files becuase your os didn't save something right, or misread information or many other things.

How on console would you check such things as you suggest? I find no options like this on my Xbox anywhere, just the ability to uninstall then reinstall the entire game. Can't look at "files" like that. No crash logs or anything. No OS monitoring for health or whatever.

I too drop out of matches from time to time, occasionally picking up the penalty. It is more due the to iffy optimization than the internet connection. Steady ping or frames are kinda unheard of on console, especially on the Xbox1 or PS4. But that 60 fps minimum is still coming soon, right?

Everybody knows that playing with friends = more fun.

To encourage this, add a "Recruit a Friend" program.

    How does it work?

When a friend buys a the game using an invite code, they each get Bonus BPs for a month when they play together, and a special outfit that can only be aquired with RAF ( for example maybe one of those shirts that say " I'm with stoopid <-")

Not sure how invites would be sent via Steam, but maybe have a popup ingame asking who invited them if they purchased the game after x date.

Another thing we could have that would help with the tedious grind, is do what other popular games do in multiplayer. For example Fortnite players get more XP when playing with a premade lobby. To balance this out, ad not make everyone favor playing survivor, give the same bonus to the killer. So if heres 3 premade getting 75% each, the killer also gets 75% bonus.

    Hope you get the idea.

I'm sure some people would be against it, because it's impossible to make everyone happy, but please post below with suggestions to improve this idea, or if you don't agree with it, post the cons.

    Good luck and have fun!

(Hope you dont get tunnelers with mori, campers and sluggers)

The idea of a buddy system is appealing to me, as being introduced to this game is quite rough and the grind is very real for us all.

Be aware if this leads to more premades those blatantly opposed to SWF will raise bloody hell too, be it solos or killers or both.

Also as you said a delivery system would be needed, using Steam or not, and would be aggrivated due to Crossplay. Many of us consolers dont even know what Steam is! ;)

  • @surviversneedabuff said:

Okay so, instead of just having the normal endgame screen where everyone can see the points and perks they've brought, I suggest a change.

In a scoreboard, add the following:

    • Photo(or name) of the character they've played
    • Total time chased
    • Total time on gens
    • Totems cleansed
    • Healing done
    • Killer stuns
    • Safe unhooks
    • Time spent in a locker

Maybe later on, add misc things like gens blew up, percentage of skillchecks failed, crows disturbed, etc.

I like this idea, but also can see how players would flame each other in chat (well not me I'm on console.)

Also if the killer squashes the team at 5 gens or whatever do you really want to mostly see all zeros on such a tally?

Maybe instead track and display personal stats, with proper privacy settings, these options for each player. If shared it would enlighten to what type of survivor (gen jockey, chaser/looper, bone collector, combat medic, etc) and/or what kind of killer (meat locker, anti-clotter, gen destroyer, master of the mori, pallet eater, etc.)

To minimize hazing or spying I'd say to see someone's stats you must share your own.

  • @FeryGEN said:

    • Why aren't killers given extra points if he hits or fatally wounds a survivor while carrying another survivor? Should give points
    • Points for hanging a survivor in the basement. Sometimes the basement is far away, and you try to convey
    • Extra points if you hang different survivors, thereby creating a chain of different hanged

That last suggestion is already covered nicely by BBQ & Chile, albeit post-game.

  • Pausing ingame to review the offerings brings up this information, but yeah a good sensible suggestion.

  • Yesterday a sister Piggy slugged all four of us, no hooks, no helmets, all bled out. I was the last one and managed to do two gens after the others died, but in the end suffered the same fate. No one had DS or Unbreakable. I had Soul Guard but no hexes were used.

    Match took 41min.

  • Sounds like the match never fully started. Most likely one of the survs lost connection along the way, or possibly you did.

  • I will say I love the look of the updated Ormond map very much. I have misgivings about the tile changes but it is closer to that "mythical" balanced notion tossed about here.

Victor looks like a baby. Anyone who doesn't keep up with the lore -- i.e. 99% of players -- is going to just use whatever shorthand they think makes sense for the Twins, and "baby" is an easy go-to because that's what he's visually reminiscent of. I try to refer to them as "the brother" or "the sister" as shorthand -- but whatever the case, I imagine Discord mods really ought to take this into consideration, given that this is in reference to a thing that exists in the game.

I've been going with his name or things like "the lil f**ker is loose" and the like when I stream, but I mess up from time to time as well.

Oh! The Ventriloquist would have been such a cooler concept than The Twins from a design perspective too, the dummy could sit on their shoulder and cosmetics could actually affect both instead of just changing Charlotte and keeping Victor looking the same no matter what the cosmetic is.

And would fit perfectly into the carnival version of Prenn. Then flesh out an outdoor all festival map later on. Maybe even a mexican Day if the Dead inspired one. I love the possibilities here!

Plus I believe again the devs said in the Q&A that keyboard support isn't coming anytime soon. Not that I even have a keyboard at home to plug in .

  • @EndMePlease said:

How about this ? I dont think its fair that survivors ( especially swf) can just body block the killer to oblivion when they are trying to hook/ chase a wounded survivor . This is especially true in the endgame that when you think you can get another hook and have a chance 3 others just come and make you literally unable to move . How can a teenage girl literally block the way of someone like the oni who is a 2 meter tall muscular ogre ? It just doesnt make sense and makes it unpleasant to just get body blocked like that .

Are you referring to the Congo line behind a hurt survivor heading for an open gate? If so and not during the game then yeah they get out.

  • What PCer is going to wait thirteen minutes for me to type in anything beyond GG with my controller?

  • @FellowKillerMain said:

This has been happening before and after disabling hit validation, and it usually occurs with players that have the globe next to their name.

I don't know how many hours I have, but I have a pretty good sense for when I'm within lunging distance, so usually, I swing when I know I will hit, but ever since I've activated cross-play it sometimes misses even though it looks good, sometimes it doesn't.

I thought this might have to do with me being on playstation 4 and going against PC players; their ping is usually 40-60ms and mine is 60-80. So, I turned off cross-play and played a few matches. I didn't see the issue when the survivor was running in a straight line and I was directly behind them.

However, it did happen when the survivor would quickly jerk left or right just as I began to lunge, causing the lunge to change directions abruptly, seemingly breaking my momentum - the game seems to try and correct for their movement or something. I've had this happen with cross-play on and off, so I'm not sure if these two issues are related.

It is likely the aim-dressing mechanic with a splish-splash of latency and ded servers messing with it.

  • @RepliCant said:

I think taking advantage of an opportunity to snowball with their altruism is a great start

    This is my method.

  • I have what I call a love hate hate relationship with this game. Been playing for like two and a half years, around 1400hrs or thereabouts. play both sides but less and less killer as the performance issues mount. Because I play on an Xbox1x the bias from that point of view will necessarily color all that follows.

Concept: Horror game, 1vs4, admittedly hard to pick up as a new player, but two roles to play, many killers from popular slasher movies and such, all with unique powers and counterplay. Most excellent premise. Vast possibilities.

Optimization and performance: 60 frames minimum guaranteed. Ever going to happen? Been almost 2 years. Frame drops whenever any status effect is applied (Exposed, Sloppy, Lithe, Bloodlust, Myers teiring up, etc). Frame drops on the indoor maps, especially Lery's. Frame drops when a gen pops nearby, chests are searched, going into struggle, a rat farts anywhere on Lery's, etc.

Latency: Before Blithe came out ping 40-70ms, then most Xbox1x's got the insta-overheat issue lasting for a week. Next patch hotfixes the overheating but ping is now 140-160ms ever since, with no change in rig.

Connectivity: I am aware of the multiple stops between my router and the lovely ded servers, but several brutal errors/hiccups still occur. Most common is "No Internet Connection" despite not interrupting Streaming or party chats, or like drifting out of team lobbies while still appearing in them & squashing matchmaking, and just last week Error 401 Player Level Update errors. No other game lags you right out of matches quite like DBD, and toss in the random crashes we all get for good measure.

Level playing field & Crossplay: It is hard to feel you're in a fair right in either role, but especially as a console killer, when performance issues are aggravated by things like Sound card this, Video settings that, Filters this other thing, and numerous other options legit or otherwise that all console are locked out of. It is my biggest gripe with Crossplay along with the performance issues, and I doubt I'm alone in that.

Notice all of this doesn't include concerns with perceived perk abuse, physical map designs, the growing bug colonies, game balancing, etc. That's because all of the above lists hinder the gameplay so much they must be addressed before the rest of the problems imo. The Xbox's and PlayStations are capable of running more demanding games than this one, especially the 1x and PS4pro, but have such a hard time digesting DBD. Just DBD.

For various reasons I and many others are going continue to play this game on an Xbox1 for the foreseeable future. Perhaps the game shouldn't have been ported to console, but it was. Perhaps the devs shouldn't have committed to the 60 frames pledge, but they did. Just get a PC doesn't hold up against that, and neither does "git gud". All I want is justice for my platform and not to feel very much forgotten & left behind.

Actually SWF was never intended. BHVR didn't even want the game to have SWF. They added it because players found a work around through lobby dodging.

I am pretty sure at this point I am the only player still on the forums from when this game first was released.

I thought the devs admitted long ago SWF was intended for launch but wasn't ready at the time. I might be mistaken, but I'll look around for links...

Changing any achievement or trophy on console is insanely difficult for the devs, due to harsh restrictions by Sony in your case and Microsoft for me. Direct wrath there.

  • One of her add-ons could apply old Ruin skillchecks to her traps, so only Greats give you progress. Maybe a rarer variety could just apply to only active traps and toss in a slightly smaller skillcheck zone as well.

They probably don't want to give console players reason to think that they don't care about the console experience, especially since so many already seem to believe that.

Changing things just on one platform but not all is a dangerous slippery-slope I doubt the devs wish to deal with, regardless of the reasons why.

Now there'd be precedent some would point to and say "look here and here you did it before" whenever a change is brought up but not possible atm due to Sony and/or Microsoft.

The devs have consistently made changes on all platforms all at the same time. This change would rightly be viewed as splitting the playerbase in favor of some platforms, and indeed give credence to the notion "they clearly don't care as much about consoles" and the like.

The root of this problem is with restrictions by Sony and/or Microsoft. For once let's help out the devs, and direct our efforts toward those two and untie the devs' hands here.

  • @JudgeArtyom said:

If nobody tries to save a survivor and they die on first hook, all other survivors should get a penalty.

Unless the killer stays within a certain radius for that time and the survivor does try to suicide on hook

It's extremely infuriating being in green ranks after rank reset and being left to die on first hook because nobody wants to save. There needs to be a fire under survivor's asses.

As far as I know they don't track time on hooks like that, so they likely cannot distinguish between a first hook suicide and being there through both phases and then dying. If true, then your suggestion is undoable.

  • The length of time between patches & hotfixes is likely due to the devs putting out an update to all platforms all at the same time. To do that means for console they need certification from both Sony and Microsoft first, which takes like 5-7 days or so. It is also the reason we pleps cannot do the PTB either.

  • @NightLucky said:

I tried my very best not to be one of those Survivors/Killers that complain but here it goes lol.

    1.WAIT TIMES:

The wait times to get into a match is ridiculous....... then after waiting about two decades I can find a match , soon as im about to get into loading to get into match, my Xbox cuts off lol literally the only game that makes my Xbox shut off and say it's overheating,

    2. DC PENALTY:

The dc penalty omg lol yes I know I shouldn't dc okay? I know this but imagine going through a whole match just schooling the killer just for them to have no ed ...... YEP I am going to rage quit especially after everyone already escaped and the killer chased you almost the whole match. Don't even get me started with survivors who play with friends and they bate you or don't save you after you played the proper way, doing gens, saves, etc, anyway no game should have time penalties , not only can you lose business that way but people are just going to go to a different game even the biggest games don't even have time penalties I'd say for dc's just take away a percentage of blood points next match or few matches so people will still want to play.

    3.KILLER COMPLAINT:

As far as killer complaints I don't even have any because it's so much easier being killer for me, really just depends on what killer I use , I can get 4k in almost every match with ghost face and bing bong without using No Ed or any gen perks so no complaints as far as that.

When Blight's patch came out nearly all Xbox1x consoles including mine insta-overheated by just starting the game, and was unplayable for a week until the next patch "fixed" it. As far as I know it was only the Xbox1x version and not the others, but now I'm not so sure.

  • 20201201_211310.jpg

From today's patch notes. I don't speak a lick of French, but I'm pretty sure the spelling here is wrong. Do they even own an Xbox1 to test things out on?

I just like to see another means to slow down the game besides having optimized meta perks and being able to use those perks in such a fashion that it doesn't require you the killer to have more than a thousand hours of playtime with that role to realize what the best solution was.

I'm not as oZT, I'm not monto I'm not any of the streamers. Trust me when I say this I only play this maybe once a month at this point. So unfortunately I have not invested in playing all the killers enough to unlock those perks. Nor do I have plans to. I'm not saying the games aren't winable but there are a few where you just have to play perfectly in order to win. Unfortunately I would not put my skill level near that. There's just not enough time.

That's just an opinion so don't rip me a new butthole because you disagree

Your bunghole is safe. We will continue to violate only the Demo's. For now.

what i mean is, unless you have discordance and the gen is in a specific spot, it is impossible for you to know they are working on that gen specifically, i just think 2 survs on 1 gen should be max!

In this case Tinkerer would also help. If its the first gen and the match just started then you know at least two are on it, maybe more.

Whenever I start a match I look for the 3-4 gens I'm going to really care about, and the others can go if need be.

  • So if you are a mobile killer you can't run Tinkerer? Or a Bubba who cannot use Insidous? Or Freddy is denied PGTW? Or Sloppy & Undying/Ruin on pretty much anyone?

And similar restrictions for Survivors? Where would it end? No no no squashing any and all synergy between perks I feel would do fatal harm to the game.

Quick and agile, you can generate momentum where there is none.

Attempting a medium vault while this Perk is active will turn it into a fast vault.

Causes Exhaustion for 60/50/40 seconds. Nimble cannot be used while Exhausted.

I like it. Also imagine Adrenaline miraculously kicking in as this vault is made, like adding Lithe to it plus the heal! Insta-dc if being perused most likely.

a guess a decent compromise would be limiting swf to duo or giving the killer bonus BP for playing an SWF , otherwise just a indication in lobby thats there's an swf but that would make lobby dodge more common.

I'm all for a bloodpoint bonus for a killer that verses a SWF group, but such notification would have to be post-game and as you mentioned dodges will rise, so I don't see this change happening. Dang near all killers will dodge a known SWF match, including me.

As far as limiting the size of groups I don't see that happening either. It would be viewed as punishing players for playing with friends imo. I still feel the way to go is to focus on solo play and punish/limit no one.
