I mean...It literally IS a get good thing. I can't name the last time I missed a DS check. Its not that hard.
You obviously don't partake in the bourbon when playing, lol.
In all seriousness , even then I seldom miss it.
-
I run Bond in my everyday build, I love it. As I like information. However, I believe you are right, in contributes to my deteriorating opinion of this game and teammates.
It also can show you the work of amazing teammates when you get those as well. So there is that, helps you avoid a teammate running the killer to your genny or allows you to take protection hits if they happen to be on death hook.

I, personally, love DbD. But I feel I can relate when I compare it to Overwatch. It is basically this delusion that I have that since it was once the best pvp game I have ever played, it has the capacity to be that again. It will get better, I will start having more fun. The "sequel" will fix things. I am fairly certain none of those statements are true. But I still want to believe.
I imagine it is the same for a lot of people clinging to DbD despite not enjoying the experience any longer.
Yeah, that sums it up perfectly. I am clinging on, probably for hope of future changes making the game exciting and fun for me again, and the sunk cost fallacy.
I am slowly coming to grips with the fact, that more than likely, I have just stayed too long and it has become stale. I will probably know for sure in the next month, beautiful weather is coming and I haven't had a desire to play in over a week.
-
I did this for a bit at the beginning of mmr, eventually your competitors become so bot like it is way to ez and wasn't fun for me.
I was ending chases in seconds, gens weren't getting done, even after 8 hooks there was so much game still left to be played.
Sweating every game is more rewarding then stomping and farming every game, imo.

My personal opinion is that you have not done enough in the match to earn a pip - depipping is completely fine.
Yes being camped and your team mates not helping can suck, but that's generally considered to be part of the game and there are perks to help with that - Borrowed Time for example.
(and I'm speaking from a position where I get hard camped and mori'd a lot!)
Honestly, this is why I'm leaving this game.
So, losing a pip, in a game with a tremendous grind, making the rewards harder to come by, while engaging in perhaps the least fun playstyle, you support?
As if that match wasn't unfun enough, let's insult them with a depip.
-
DS is fine as is. If you want more time earn it in the loops.
Simply put, if a Killer wants you out of the game, unless you're swfing, it's probably going to happen.

What !!?? They put you in jail???
Damn, I haven't even had a chance to reply to you in another thread .
Keep keeping on, and ######### these big brother rules, i always enjoy your thoughts!!!

I feel you. I am a long time player, play both sides and I am on my way out I believe. I tried the first two days of testing, felt like every game was a sweat fest and I haven't been back since. But that isn't any different from my usual games, really.
I loved this game, but as others have stated, perhaps it has become boring for me, but I have always said why play something that you are not having fun with? So this is the least amount of time I have played this game, and by the looks of things, the end.
So, I understand what you are saying in the title. And I am asking, why are you still playing? Because I am curious myself. Maybe your answer will be the final straw in my own decision.
-
I won't take a pity hatch, no thanks.
-
It's only mid on mid tier survivors.

So do you agree we should try find fixes for those issues instead of just slapping on built in perks/info for the sake of it?
Completely.

It depends on my mood. I can usually get a lot out of those games, but if my mindset is not right, I just walk up to them to let them kill me. Sometimes they feel bad and ignore me, but you can solve that problem by pretending to play again.
I've tried that, but then they just slug me. I never understand why. Like we both know it's over, just kill me already .
So , now I just do gens and make it look like I'm trying, for some reason, then they will hook you.
-
Agreed, solo q is fine when you have teammates of equal skill level that are committed to seeing the game through to the end.
But, due to the reasons you name, this is obviously not always the case. The games with competent teammates are night and day to the ones without.

Rare one then. All the ones I get moonwalk and spam their flashlight.
I was a Tapp main for the longest time, so perhaps I have not fully embraced the Ace lifestyle.
-
I will never understand, how people get so upset over a tactic in a video game, that they believe it warrants real life insults.
Like, whatever behavior you are raging about, is instantly eclipsed by one's own behavior in chat.
Lack of self awareness is a hell of a drug.
-
@Marigoria said:
I agree.
We should start complaining about specific mains instead, not generalize a side.
I'll start:
Huntress mains: Why you gotta practice your hatchet throws when I'm on the hook? It's clearly not working against moving targets.
Ace mains should focus more on doing gens instead of moonwalking.
Hey, all I do is gens, if I'm not looping or healing. Perhaps the occasional totem.
I actually did 4.99 gens myself not long ago, had to tape it , couldn't believe it.
-
Yeah, I loved that perk.
That's how I learned to loop, getting tunnelled out every game in solo q is a great teacher.
-
It's the current tactics that force the survivor meta. Those of us that don't run meta, know we would survive more with it, but for whatever reason, we choose not to.
If we weren't camped, tunneled and slugged so often, then the meta would switch. But, it's a catch 22, killers say we need to do these tactics to have a chance to win. And survivors counter with if I don't run these then I'm going have ######### games being camped and tunneled.
Both meta and strong tactics are for those sweats that like those dubs above all else.
Us chills just get screwed.
-
Welcome back if you want, but I think I'm leaning the other way, after 5 years, I'm just about out. I have played so little this month, this is the first time in years I will not get to red ranks. I am actually feeling quite liberated with this decision.
And, damn, did you say you wrote a book? What an awesome accomplishment 👏!! What was it about?
-
Oh, I really don't know, never reported anyone.
I thought there was a report button after matches,
-
Hit the flag button on their post
-
My solo build is bond, kindred, windows and DS.
I like information and to protect against tunneling
-
Yes, thank you!!! Ace mains = Best mains
-
DCing is a dick move, especially when you are playing survivor. Camping and Tunneling are tactics a killer uses to complete their objective.
-
Rework DH, leave the red stain
-
Yeah, I thought so, but got #########

@FrostyEyesSusie said:
Do survivors slow down gens or stop looping when the killer is struggling? Do they give the killer free kills if the game was easy?
They're not entitled to anything. If there's a DC then that's their own d*rn problem.
Some of us do, yes. If a Killer is clearly outmatched, I stop doing gens.
-
I actually advocate for the opposite, kill me asap so I can get into a new game.
Had this happen tonight, luckily competent teammates, and we got 2 out.
-
Agreed.
Admittedly, I can lean one way after a particular tough gaming session in a particular role, but I try to be open to the counterpoints, and often find a middle ground between the emotions of the moment and the facts of my previous experiences combined with arguments presented by others.

It exists semantically.
It doesn't exist as any sort of rule, particularly not something that's reportable.
This is actually a pretty good example of an Ontological Fallacy - just because we have a word for something, doesn't mean that it has any sort of physical existence. Just ask a passing unicorn.
I didn't say it exists in a state that would require us to acknowledge it with rules. Just that in the parlance of DBD, we all understand what it means.

Not true. We understand 'dragon' to mean 'flying reptile' at the very broadest. Yet they don't exist.
'Tunneling/Tunneler' is a fake title meant to force Killers into playing sub-optimally through shame and threats of reporting. It's used by people who want to win at all costs, which includes lies and threats.
Which is ironic, because they're upset that their opponent is also trying to win.
I see your point, but we are talking about an action in a video game, one which everyone understands what it means and how to defend/oppose it in debates. Many things have parlance that are only related to that particular activity. DBD is no different.
Now, I certainly agree that sweats complaining about their competitors sweating is quite hypocritical, and often amusing. But most of us, watching a clip of it, would know exactly what it is, and would use the term to define it.
Regardless of how we feel about it.
-
In the end OP, you play how you want. Does it really matter if it's tunneling , to you? I think @ThatOneDemoPlayer defines it quite well.
But, I do agree, more players should play both sides so they truly understand what these terms mean, and why a killer may engage in these tactics at a certain point in the game.
And While I don't really enjoy being tunneled out at 5 gens, I respect ones right to play how they want, and I simply move on to the next game.
-
@AngyKiller said:
Tunneling does not exist.
If Survivors are allowed to go back to that 90% gen you kicked; You are allowed to go for the wounded, dead-on-hook Survivor they let slip into phase 2.
It does exist, or we wouldn't all understand it in the parlance of DBD.
Does it matter? Well that is a much different debate.

>Long time killer main
Sure man, your posts is about only defending the survivor side, and making up bullshit like "killers have weapons" like, yeah ? Do you want to kill the killer too ?
Your post now resorts to insults and questioning my experience. As if people don't evolve over time and through other experiences. Please raise your standards for a discussion.
The game is asymmetrical, the attempt to balance this 4 v 1 is by giving killers powers and weapons. Some killer powers are stronger than others. Idk why this is so hard to understand.

Why can't you survivor mains understand that killers are unique, and not the same as survivors ? This comparison doesnt make sense, your point is about your tewmmates having skill, and survivors are just re skins
Sorry, but you obviously know nothing of me. But I always enjoy those that are presumptuous, gives me a chuckle.
Long time killer main, now a 50/50.
My point about the teammates, was facetious, you missed the joke.
My other point was that different powers inherently have different strengths. I don't understand why this is so hard to accept. Nurse is stronger than clown, it's a fact.
If you play clown, you must understand a 4k will likely be harder to achieve than with nurse.

If you read my original comment, im sick of SWF toxicity when it's paired against brand new killers who haven't had a chance to learn. All Im suggesting is that low level killers (pre 4 slots unlocked) should not be subjected to them. I can deal with them (mostly) on the killers I have leveled and had a chance to understand.
I feel you. I'm pretty exclusively solo myself, but understand the frustration.
However, swf seems to be a big part of the player base, and as such you gotta expect you will meet them in game.
Is it always fair, no. But MM is a ######### show currently. And just being a swf does not necessarily make them good. Regardless, killers are getting ranked with available players because of the gap in killer to survivors ratio.
Sad but true. So killers have less room to grow before being thrown to the wolves.
-
Honestly, being sick of swf is like being sick of tunneling.
If you can't get used to it, better find a new game.

You are a legend. Just when I think I may quit this game, we get a GoodboyKaru post, and I think ....
Well #########, once more into the breach!

Just bring a ######### brown medkit. Maybe get a heal out of it, maybe make the killer waste a perk slot on Franklin's, as you run away laughing, thinking, "######### that medkit!"
Meet you on a genny!

Pardon me.
I've been here awhile.
I think I've earned the right to speak mine. But thanks for quoting me on your 194th post, it's cute.

All killers are viable.
Please make all teammates viable.
IN truth, I just don't understand this argument. Certain powers are inherently more powerful than others. There is no way to make Trapper as powerful as Nurse. They have different powers. And there is nothing wrong with this. Getting a 2k with Trapper should be enjoyed as much as a 4k with Nurse.
-
Toxicity exists on both sides. Pretending it's only one side indicates a bias or lack of experience on one side.
-
Even many streamers are getting fed up.
-
Bond , Botany, Bt and built to last with a nice medkit.
Actually was a fun game, made multiple saves and heals , got 3 out, killer played well, 8 hooks. Medkit with fast heals was a factor
-
It really is in a sad state currently. Killers using strong strategies versing mostly some form of SWF I guess.
As a solo, the amount of unfun games, stale meta, repeatedly facing the same killer( player and character) sus teammates, has just become demoralizing . I really don't see how this can be fixed anymore. You either throw games and play outside your skill level, which is a bit of an dick move, or you sweat.
I just don't see any middle ground anymore, nor how we get there. And balancing around the different skill levels as well solo vs swf is impossible. If I play with my lady, she gets destroyed, if they matched us with a killer on her level, I imagine I would be a thumb in their ass.
-
I Think you said it perfectly.
Both sides surely have ######### they have to deal with.
-
I play how I like to verse, so I don't tunnel, purposefully.
If I run into you later doing a gen, etc, well I don't consider that tunneling. Unfortunate, yes and I may still feel bad for said player. However letting you go at that point would almost be farming, and I hate farming games as survivor , so back to the hook.
But, this could be the reason I haven't been hit with DS in a long time.
Unfortunately as survivor, I hit DS often.
-
By definition, opinions are subjective.
