Just as an fyi blood magic/drinking isn't special in eastern myth. Even TREE Yokai such as the Jubokko can do it its that common.

Also gothic vampires have a lot of magic at their disposal then is often shown and even more varied types then one would suspect for hunting.

So a possible magic focused gothic vampire isn't out of the cards given how much room there is to work with without going near the Oni's niche.

I never said it was off the table, only that the Devs would have to put in a lot of effort so don't hold your breath. They have to walk the line between what's familiar on both sides - it's a slasher game and we're talking about an original creation, so they don't have the creative freedom to throw in a killer that doesn't quite fit into the purists preconceptions, because it's not a lisenced character. But they have to make sure it's a recognisable stereotype that does justice to the original medium, similar to Deathslinger and westerns or Blight and a certian Victorian alchemist.*

Also, vampirism is literally any creature that feeds on some form of spiritual essence, not just blood, and all are very common throughout every culture I can think of. There's plenty of vampires in various mythologies that feed in some generic life force, or even emotions. It's just that most cultures associate blood with spiritual life force and so blood feeders get the lion's share of representation.

Edit:* And that is bloody hard, given the prevalence of vampires and werewolves in the media. So it's not likely they'll take the difficult road and add a gothic horror staple to a slasher game.

  • Most of these effects are ridiculously strong. The concept is nice, but... Well, NOED isn't hated because it's strong, it's hated because it's the definition of unearned and it's "counterplay" is much stronger than the actual effect of the perk. The basic idea of buffing the killer based on their equipped Hex perks? I like it. But I would tie it to completing 4/5 of the gens, getting enough hooks or hits prior to that, and make the effects a bit weaker.

  • That entire genre of killers. I like gothic horror and I can't wait for them to start adding in more gothic/slasher mixed villains. Blight and Twins were a nice first step, so hopefully they continue down the realms of gothic horror or even outright Hammer Horror.

Edit: Also, I would love some lovecraftian killers. They would have to be adapted to the slasher medium just the same as gothic horror killers, but I think they could do it.

The skins could have the removed voiceline, and Pinhead could keep his. That would make even more sense!

Besides, Chatterer already has a unique line and we ain't getting no female Cenobite. Too risqué.

How is the female cenobite any more risqué than all the other sex demons explorers in the furthest reaches of experience?

  • It doesn't matter if you report them, they won't stop and now they seem to be able to prevent themselves from even getting banned in the first place. It's just a waste of your own time and effort with the only real side benefit being that it brings it to BHVR's attention, but I don't think that's worth it.

I'm curious, do you have this message saved in a file somewhere, seeing as you spam it in every thread related to this issue?

Clearly not, given that it's always worded differently.

And if you're sick of reading it, I don't give a shite. Go complain somewhere else. Maybe join the massive, arrogant collective that keeps complaining after only a week of crappy trials.

They have literally shown a vampire killer(Implied to be Vlad the Impaler aka Dracula from their appearance) in the archives cut scenes.

Its really weird that they'd show us a canon vampire killer then never give us one to play as.

Oni is literally a vampire. He feeds on blood. We have had a vampiric killer in the game since 2019, which actually highlights the problem: people need something that's both a stereotype and that fits into DbD.

Seriously, it's not an easy ask. If you just cut-and-paste a Dracula character, it's not going to have the suspension of disbelief that lisenced characters have. That's why Blight is so different from Jekyll and Hyde.

So... Why would they bother making an appropriate mix of slasher and gothic horror when they could just make other semi-generic slasher killers instead? That's the question that has to be answered, because as I pointed out numerous times, we literally have a vampire that everyone forgets is a vampire because he's too original.

Would I love for a stereotypical vampire to be added? Hell yes. But it's not that likely to happen.

  • They changed the ban timer so that it doesn't punish connection issues nearly as much, so either you're completely oblivious to just how much you've been dropping connection, or...

  • AU servers, in the evening, previously a nightmare of what people are now calling "high MMR" but what I call "4-minute trials". I'm glad to see NA and EU suffering as we have for over a year. Now you know how good you had it, however I would love it if those massive servers had to cry in pain for a bit longer. Call me sadistic, but I like it when people have to suffer what I've suffered.

However, now that MMR is here my trials are absolutely fantastic. I have a wide variety of opponents but I really don't care because so far as I am concerned, the best thing about DbD is being in a trial for longer than eight minutes. It is beautiful and fantastic.

  • I think that his invisibility buff needs to be reverted. Currently, a survivor can be staring directly at him and still not have enough time to react before getting hit if he sprints right at them and uncloaks in their face.

Oni absorbs blood yes, through his hand. Does that make him a vampire? No. They needed a unique way to charge his power, and thats why the cartoony floating orbs.

But that aside, you brought up the fact that something as GOTHIC as a vampire wouldn't fit in the game when, in fact, Pinhead draws his designs from catholic-gothic style. Im not ignoring anything.

Oni feeds on blood, which literally makes him a vampire, as would a killer that drained the "life essence" of survivors in any way, whether that is blood or the soul or whatever else people place spiritual significance on.

Which clearly means that you are looking specifically for gothic vampires rooted in Slavic and Germanic folklore such as a strigoi (Dracula-style vampire, also didn't necessarily feed on blood) whether you understand that or not. I assume you also apply this similar view of hammer-horror stereotypes to lycanthropy. Either way, I've already explained why you the difference between gothic horror and slasher horror and why it's likely never been much of a priority, although the game is very slowly moving away from traditional, original slasher characters so hopefully they will branch out into further aspects of horror, such as vampires and werewolves.

Actually, if anything, I'm alone in enjoying him. But I get it, I'm a ######### Plague main. Killers whose difficulty exceeds their strength is kind of my cup of tea, although Plague is a very strong killer in her own right.

Not all vampires are gothic. Some are portrayed as cryptids in tribal lore. Aside from that you're gonna tell me Pinhead isn't gothic?

You are just going out of your way to avoid Oni's blood-sucking, huh?

  • @UncleStabby said:

Interesting you should say that when we have a literal Oni, who is a medieval japanese demon, a cowboy, a meatflower that eats people (demo) and a pair of conjoined twins that can magically seperate.

Hey, don't blame me, blame the Devs. They have to make everything conform to the slasher genre as much as possible because that's the pitch of DbD, which means that gothic horror villains aren't a huge priority. They're the antithesis of slasher - all the ones you listed fall into the slahser trope of mindless, brute-force, emotionally unattached and amoral Bad Guys.

Whereas gothic horror is more about the psychological and emotional aspects of horror, epitomised by Vampires (almost universally depicted as highly intelligent and sophisticated that love psychological torture) and Werewolves (almost universally depicted as a tragic villain cursed beyond their control, often with an emotional connection to the protagonists). The Twins are the ones that first kinda introduced that to DbD.

So, yeah. Different kinds of horror beg for different kinds of villain, which is why the vampire we have in DbD isn't even considered a vampire. He's so slasher that he doesn't look gothic.

  • I like him. Have you tried... I dunno what it's called, insta-shooting with him? When you place a gate on top of a survivor and immediately shoot? It's especially useful when you're about to enter a loop or you can see over the loop. You can sort of guess if the gate is behind an LoS break, but usually in that scenario (for example, a survivor threw a long wall/short wall tile's pallet and is camping it) you should hold it for a few seconds and see what they're doing - sometimes they even run back into the gate for an easy shot.

You should also not use chains in the open unless the survivor is running for a pallet or window. If they're just holding W you have to do the same.

As for the chain hunt... I dunno, it's passive so it's almost impossible to misuse it. The only thing I can say is that I like to teleport over when they're solving the Lament Configuration and tunnel whoever was solving it until I have them downed, because that activates a full chain hunt if you interrupted them and you can snowball a bit.

Also, if you're a survivor you need to rebind your buttons. I didn't notice the issue because I already have everything seperately bound, but vaulting pallets and windows overrides breaking his chains.

Oh, and his lunge is super bugged, if you change direction mid lunge you miss.

Edit: Also, he is hard on a controller, but not quite as bad as Huntress, Slinger, Trickster or Nurse IMO.

  • Ruin/Undying is fine since the Undying nerf, just knock out two totems or cleverly brute force through. The only problem with that build is Tinkerer, which makes defending gens ridiculously easy.

  • Sure. Vampires and werewolves are absolutely at the top of the horror villain list - for gothic horror and dark fantasy. But this is a slasher game, so they're not that important. Which isn't to say they shouldn't be added, it's just that it's one of those things that's probably never going to be a priority for the developers.

Especially since they already have a vampire. Literally. Oni feeds on blood.

  • Hours aren't representative of skill. They really, really aren't. Hell, the sweatiest bits of DbD are the ones with the least skil that can easily be mastered by new players.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

eh the game seems stable right now for the most part if the game is like the launch of the resident evil chapter again then yes please disable them

I feel like we're at the point where the game itself can register it's own bugs and should be able to lift the penalty on players who are just getting repeatedly screwed by its own instability.

It wouldn't even be that hard - create a small program that sends minor, no-detail crash "reports" when an error message shows up, and grant an account penalty immunity if it gets more than 3 of them in an hour.

That's quite the stretch. There are bugs yeah and the game isn't on a good state gameplaywise but being someone running the game with a 1050ti and a ######### processor and not having a single crash since Nemesis idk about what to tell you about your take.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2505941#Comment_2505941

If you want to DC from matches you're entitled to do so. If you're ruining others experience by significantly dropping the chances on escaping a game then you get a penalty. You're entitled to play whatever you want, not to ######### with others experience and expect no backlash for it. If you don't like the game enough you end up asking for dc penalties to be out because you'll be willing to frequently dc, based on your take right there, then move on to another game.

Read the initial and extremely entitled comment before jumping down someone else's throat for calling it out.

  • @SonicOffline said:

To be honest, as someone who is not you and may have you in my games, I think the penalty needs to be more quickly ramped up. I do not want DCing players, for any reason, because it ruins it for me.

Not healing is not genrushing. Genrushing woukd be ignoring everything and everyone else to focus on gens. Ie leaving teammates to die.

    Healing is often just unessesaary.

Those are the logical next steps in this line of thought.

And some survivors want to get rid of bloodlust. Imagine how much longer it would take to catch up without it.

Well, assuming a 30m gap, with zero bloodlust it would take 50 seconds with a basic m1 killer.

With bloodlust it would take (15×0.6) + (15×0.8) + (9×1) for a grand total of 39 seconds, assuming I got the maths right, which means bloodlust saves 11 seconds. Great, right?

Except that Chase isn't initiated until you are within 12m of one another. Which means that Bloodlust won't activate until you are 3m apart in a pure hold-W situation, meaning it doesn't even affect the chase. And if you're not in a pure-W scenario, then it will be broken by the pallets you have to break.

Bloodlust helps in loops. It doesn't help counter the W key.

  • @Phasmamain said:

Surely killer queues would be short if there was a lack of killer players right?

Yes, which is the case at mid-low MMR. I'm getting instant trials, at both sides. They really should reset the data and let it sort itself out organically, instead of using the numbers that are concentrating killers at the high end and survivors at the low.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Looping shows off one of the skills that a survivor has. They don't show the skill a survivor has. Situational awareness and decision making are equally, if not more important than looping skill. A 10 second chase in the right part of the map is better than a 30 second chase in the wrong part. So the question you're asking is: "Why are survivors trying to play well?"

Playing well is using your resources well, not throwing them away or outright ignoring them. Why do you think most people find comp DbD boring AF? It has almost no community coverage.

  • Most Billy players quit because not only did they add Overheat and make people worry about that all the time (it really is super aggressive and you cannot play Billy like you used to - there's no mindgames any more), but they messed up his camera and forced everyone to relearn curving, nerfed his add-ons into oblivion, and to top it all the dedicated servers absolutely did a number on him and backrevs (now survivors whip around at close range and make it less about skill and more about luck).

  • Even if you were to tryhard and sweat it would still be a free win.

RPD feels like it should have a vastly different objective for survivors. I'm normally not a fan of adding gens to balance things, but holy crap does that map feel like it's missing half of whatever you're supposed to be doing.

  • Because it's borderline useless or gives outright false information.

It has a cooldown. It isn't accurate. It doesn't tell you anything except the killer's general location - which usually isn't that useful. It doesn't even tell you where the killer is going.

  • Yes, why don't we all just rush gens instead? That's always so fun for everyone and causes absolutely no issues whatsoever.

  • Dead Hard is an addictive crutch. Just look at how many people insist it's necessary, then proceed to ignore a survivor main who cut all Exhaustion perks out of her life and still does well.

Recommending Dead Hard is like telling someone with addiction issues to play an MMO. It will rule your life.

  • ######### over 4 people for your own amusement is never okay, and that's all it boils down to: either directly or by proxy, it's about ######### over four other people so you can have fun.

Edit: To clarify, I'm mostly meaning the developers here. Most players don't even realise what's liked or disliked by their opponents be ausw they don't go onto forums and crap.

  • Here's a much easier and far more reliable idea: Lock the ######### camera FoV like every other game does, including games in the same ######### engine.

I swear, stretched res is just a thing because one of the Devs doesn't want to become a hacker, if you know what I mean.

  • I ignore them, or hit them if I'm walking past and I'm the killer.

Or sometimes I bring them items and put them down in a circle.

"You opened the box and I came."

It can be completed- just need to stun a killer while they're holding a survivor. Just not in the intentional way.

    @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2505870#Comment_2505870

Well the challenge says you have to stun a killer while he is carrying a survivor so it doesn’t necessarily have to be power struggle itself but it’s still dumb.

Itks like the way clown has a direct hit challenge when direct hits still don’t slow survivors

Ah, so it's ambiguously worded so as to not force people to run Power Struggle/Flip Flop for like 700 trials while paranoid killers stare at every survivor lying under a pallet until they bleed out.

Which explains a recent experience of mine involving a SWF team that wouodnt pick up their teammates. Perhaps I should pay more attention to the archives...

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2505860#Comment_2505860

Yeah I’m not a fan of the idea but the fact that an already terrible perk is now unusable is pretty bad especially when there is a challenge based on it in the tome

Wait, there is? Wow, talk about dumb challenges. If one can't even be completed because the perk doesn't function, that's just embarrassing.

  • None of these should be locked behind the Prestige system. As of right now, it is extremely common knowledge that Prestige does nothing except give you an outfit, meaning that most people don't prestige and would be heavily punished by having QoL improvements suddenly in the game... Locked behind a massive grind that will be significantly bigger for them than anyone who chose to waste their own time prestiging.

They're all good ideas... But anything beyond cosmetics isn't fair. People who prestige chose to commit to that grind. Others shouldnt be faced with a bigger one for not wanting to.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2505846#Comment_2505846

Too bad it broke power struggle. That perk was already terrible

I'm not complaining, that perk was a step in the wrong direction. The last thing we need is to shovel more paranoia on the stress role.

As for reverse pallet stuns... I am still forced to run Enduring thanks to the last validation update. If the Devs want to roll the whole pallet-validation thing back, I'm game.

  • The Devs don't favour one side or the other. They favour casual players over competitive ones, and new players over all... But that's about it.

  • Purely because his chains break a little too quickly. He would be B, or even A, if they held on a little longer.

  • Because I think it should be a little faster than 100% regression speed, given that 100% regression speed is only 25% progression speed. However, I don't think it should Increase that much, because otherwise the game would be even worse for newer survivors.

  • I literally cannot avoid pallet stuns in most situations due to the latest pallet change. It's either run Enduring, suck it up and lose every trial, or hope that my opponents drop pallets super early/have really good ping.

  • Nurse. By quite a margin, if I recall correctly.

  • Or with specific add-ons.

  • If you kept killing people, the the trials weren't exactly fair. And you can't MMR up if you're not killing most of your opponents.

I have also MMR'd up. And down. Just let yourself lose, it's no big deal.

  • It already existed. It was called "ranks", and it was and will continue to be there to try and make sure the target audience doesn't have to deal with sweaty wannabe comp players, or get outrageously mismatched trials.
