That's nonsense, for the lacking of transparency overwatch 2 achieved the most disliked game on steam.
Your analogy made no sense that's why nobody got it. Stop acting know-it-all, step down from your pedestal and accept that a game with no players is a dead game and not being transparent as a game company can hurt your profits. It happened to dbd during the time around the twins.
Yeah no
You are taking transparancy to it's extreme. Being transparent as in sharing what's coming, what the design goals are and stuff is important and they do that.
Expecting them to file in a report on what they have and haven't worked on is extremely arrogant karen behaviour
Sounds to me like you need to get off your high horse. You bought the right to acces the game. That makes you a customer. Not their boss.

Actually they do.
Last I checked, the players financially support BHVR, not the other way around.
Players yes. The people who are expecting a game.
Not the sad few who expect a status report on everything like a narcissistic office manager.
-
Very fun thought process, i do think that the screen that divides us hides a lot and most people aren't as bad as they seem sometimes.
It is funny that the most unrealistic thing of this post is thinking you can buy all that with winning the lottery only once in todays economy.
That mansion with pool is probably going to have to settle for a avarage sized country house with a kiddy pool

What is with these challenges that almost require survivors to throw the match to get quickly?
Well to be fair survivor is so efficienfy dependent that doing anything that's not doing gens or keeping the killer busy is conciddered throwing.
Atleast you can do this one without throwing the game. Unlike certain other hide for 5 minutes between the killers buttcheeks challenges

I would if they offered it. I'm also not the one using concert tickets as an example. A poor example at that. Hope you can afford better tickets one day.
Perfect example
When you buy DbD what you are essentially buying is acces to the game. Nothing more, nothing less. Just like you would a concert.
Also you might not know this but not every concert has VIP tickets to go backstage, i know i worked at them.
Good to see that things don't change much in that the avarage DbD player still doesn't understand how analogies work.
-
Not sure if it's a hot take but i know some content creators don't share my oppinion in this.
The latest trend of having more and more effects that alter movement speed is a good thing
I can get where people are coming from not liking it but for me the idea that a survivor can go to a tile and know for certain they can make 3 rotations before dropping the pallet and the killer just has to go with it to get rid of that pallet is very dull.
That with movement speed perks/addons or whatever those number of rotations can change make the game more unpredictable and in turn more excitting.
Chase perks will also always be more fun then just make the game last longer perks
I think it mostly stems from certain movement speed stuff to be slightly overtuned and not situational enough to say the least is why people are against the idea but as a concept i personally think that's a good direction to go

They do owe us more clearness and transparency what are you talking about? We are as important as the devs to make the game work, no players = dead game.
Most players don't care about what's going on behind the scene. As long as there is a game and people enjoy it they will play, no matter the transparency.
If you buy tickets to a concert you also don't expect to be allowed backstage do you?

If you read my post history I say that I'm fine nerfing the vaults, I just find the lack of communication and their priorities very weird
Well like i said, their priorities depend on things we have no clue about and they don't really owe us a explanation about every single thing that happens behind the scenes
-
I don't think it's a case of design philosophy and more of a case of workflow and priorities.
Don't forget that Dead by Daylight for the devs is a constant set of deadlines they have to meet. New chapters release every 3 months and they need to be presentable by the time the release date comes. Also take in concideration that not every bug is fixed in the same timeframe.
For example Blights hug tech and the fast vault after falling thing you talked about. How do you fix the Blight hug tech? Is it something to do with Blight himself? Or is it something with maps collision? If it's the later that means they would have to alter every single map in the game all in the month and half time between patches and after the actual content for said patch is done. Meanwhile the fast vault while falling could be just a small change made to survivor and done.
There is also the thing that each patch can only have so much bandwith. A change to survivors controls would not take as much space as a change that has to happen to every single map. Would fixing Blights hug tech really be worth not being able to add a dozen other bugfixes?
So in that example it's not really that fast vaulting while falling is that much worse then the hug tech that it needed fixing asap. It could be just a case of the fix was simple.
(disclaimer above is just an example, I don't know how coding works so highly likely what i said isn't accurate. It's just a way to get my point across)
While we ofcourse have to report bugs and let them know about this stuff I think it's also important to remember that we don't know what happens behind the scenes.
It's easy to point at the super obvious bug that players find 5 minutes after a patch and to say BHVR doesn't playtest or fixes things but we don't know if behind the scenes they rushed to fix a dozen worse bugs and just didn't have time for that one.

Chucky isn't a big license too. At least no where near Alien license.
Honestly...
How in the hell, looking at this picture, you're saying it's Springtrap...? He has nothing to do with any knives or anything at this picture.
Nothing in this picture showing ANYTHING about Springtrap.
Chucky is a big licence, denying that is honestly silly.
Not only was he standing with the other 90's horror icons he's also unlike most of them still relevant today. First half of the 3th season of his tvshow aired just last month.
It's underandable to say that Chucky is not your cup of tea but to say he isn't big is delusional. He outlasted the other horror icons by quite a margin
He's honestly one of the biggest ones they didn't have yet outside of Friday the 13th
-
@Grigerbest said:
I mean... Is Chucky a "license with big L"?
I've never considered Chucky as something big tbh (no offence).
Aside from Xenomorph (Alien). That was actually a License with big L.
Imo Chucky is one of the biggest ones they don't have yet, especially with Friday the 13th being out of the picture for the moment.
Not only was Chucky among the other 90's horror icons he also unlike them never really stopped. The first half of the 3th season of his tvshow was just last month.
-
At the end of the game when all survivors are dead it does show what perks/addons the killer used so if something strange happens it's a good thing to check there
-
In the later movies and tv series he was able to split his soul into multiple dolls so that could be something.
That his power is map control by allowing to go to different good guy dolls on the map or something
-
Honestly Springtrap isn't a real contender.
I'm somebody that would like to have him but to tease him with a kitchen knife which is something he hasen't used at all untill the recently released movie in which he had it for like 5-10 minutes would be a horrible way to tease him.
Outside of Chucky though, i have no idea who else it could be. Especially with talk about how this is a big L licence.
All other things i can think of aren't big licences
-

I think it's bait honestly; think about it like this; Trickster's Knife(s) is there, Clown's Blade is there, and Legion's Blade is there. The common trait between them is that they have all be reworked at some point in their lifespan within the game.
The large knife could be hinting towards Myers receiving a rework; there are many scenes where Myers just takes kitchenware and uses them as a weapon, and all the other knifes are held up like kitchenware.
Either that or it's a double teaser, maybe we're both right.
Chucky did a tv show trailer with myers before so even if it's myers knife it just points more to chucky

To be fair, re-releasing an older chapter literally right before a new one, that is supposedly a Licensed chapter, is also a bold move.
That's true, but atleast they added a FAQ that explains that ST wasen't the actual chapter.

Hold up I don't think this is teasing a new killer I think it's teasing a Myers rework
Clowns knife got a rework
Legion knife got a rework
Trickster is about to get his rework
Teasing a rework (which i don't think they have ever done before) right around the time they could be teasing the new chapter wouldn't be the best of moves.

No, this season was in two parts. 3rd season finale isn't until next year.
Yeah but it was split into 2 parts cause of the writer strike. If it wasen't for that we would have gotten the full season this year.
These chapters are planned a long time in advance. Before the strike happened

There aren't very many EULAs that are actually enforceable, especially video game EULAs, since they're not that easy to understand and you aren't forced to agree to them before purchase. You also said you literally signed something, which you didn't.
Actually going through the hassle of trying to contest them on the other hand...
You know what. In the most technicality of ways. You are correct. I didn't in the most litteral form sign something.
Just did something that is pretty much equivallent in every way.
I need to ban "litteraly" from my vocabulary. Been burned too often
They aren't really enforceable cause they mostly are filled with ways to protect the owner rather then put responsibility on you
Doesn't change that if you would try to sue BHVR cause they changed the product after you bought it you would lose without a doubt cause you agreed on these terms
Maybe legaly binding isn't the right word but it is something that you agreed on so you shouldn't be surprised it happens

You literally didn't have to sign anything. You have to click on a agree button that isn't legally binding.
Are you being serious?
-
I can never understand how people feel cheated in this scenario.
You litteraly had to sign to agree that changes can be made at any point when you start playing the game.

bro you had to do all that math to try to justify that it's still worth running.........slap on SB or lithe and save yourself the trouble, less computation involved
too situational to be a better choice than running another perk that gives you better control of when you use it
As i said, still a decent perk. Just involves some thinking now.
Which isn't for everyone i guess.
I'm not saying SB or lithe isn't "better", just that you won't do bad with this if you are decent at the game.

it is useless my guy
who wants to waste a perk slot to maybe get use if they manage a successful dead hard once? Not twice cause once you use it that killer is gonna wait it out the second time and godspeed if the killer swings and misses
once you do get mft, great, now you need to run around with a dark, bloody screen hampering you and if the killer leaves you well, time to mend
it was better off with a timer or something, this is useless and is immediately out of my rotation
juce is not worth the squeeze
Last time I checked survivors were almost uncatchable with that 3% boost? that's still the same.
First of all if you can only pull of dh once that's on you. If that was the case then Dh would have never been a problem. You use it in scenario's where the killer loses if they decide to delay aka right before a pallet. but even putting that aside there are more ways to get in deep wound. Styptic agent medkits for one. Getting tunneled and hit on unhook that i thought was everywhere. MfT has a build in way even. OtR has 80 seconds of endurance who's only downside of being able to turn off by hitting of hook early are countered by this version of MfT
Standert killers move 0.6m/s faster then survivors and have a 2.7 second cooldown on hit. Survivors have a 1.8 second speedboost of 65% (or 6.6 m/s) on hit.
So you make (6.6*1.8) + (4*0.9)= 15.48 meters of distance before the killer can move. Then they catch up at 0.6m/s
That means that if you dead hard and only run in a straight line it takes (15.48/0.6)+2.7= 28.5 seconds to catch up after hit
Add MfT to this now. The standert killer now only moves 0.48m/s faster and still has 2.7 cooldown. That survivor also now moves 68% or 6.72 m/s for 1.8 seconds
So you now make (6.72*1.8) + (4.12*0.9)= 15.8 meters of distance. Killer catches up at 0.48m/s so it takes them (15.8/0.48)+2.7= 35.6 seconds
That's 7 free seconds with no looping, no pallets, no window. Just straight line till hit again
For comparison let's look at Overcome
It changes the on hit speed boost to 3.8 seconds. So you gain (2.7*6.6)+(1.1*2)= 20 meters of distance which takes the killer (20/0.6)+3.8= 37.1 seconds to catch up. That's 1.5 seconds longer for something that's gone after the effect. literally a single loop and MfT comes out on top
Is it as strong as before? Ofcourse not. Can you still make good use of it. Yes, unless you're the biggest of meta slaves. This version of MfT is still better then 75% of survivor perks. It's not that hard to get in deep wounds if you want it. And if the killer decides to not follow after you deadhard then they aren't tunneling and you're already forcing them into misplays.
Any half decent player could get good vallue out if this. Not as much as something like sprint burst ofcourse but that doesn't mean it's "useless"
There is a big gap between busted and useless that you are refusing to see.
-
I don't think it's as powerfull as it reads. There are more reasons why Main event was barelly used outside of hardly ever being available.
It still slows you down massivelly. Hitting 6 knives on a healthy survivor and then activating main event will i assume more often then not end in you injuring the survivor and the survivor darting off with on hit speed boost while you are slowed and about to eat a stun.
Can't know for sure without playing ofcourse but it seems to me to be more powerfull on paper then it would in practice

I'm 50/50 with SWF'ing on coms and Solo'Q®.
Do you think MFT will be good for SoloQ? I really don't think that sort of coordination will be present for most. Prior to this change in function, as I don't see this as a nerf, MFT was used by a LOT of Solo'Qers. I don't see it being a top pick anymore.
Now SWFs are a different story ofc. But even then, how many are a group of drunk friends having fun with the game (Yeah, I'm guilty.) vs sweaty top focused teams? Still feel it'll take a hit, just a much smaller one than Solo'Q.
Thoughts on that?
I think MfT will be fine for solo. Slap on Dead Hard and you have a neat combo.
Will it be the absolute best way to guarantee victory? No, but it will be a fun combo that you can pull off effectivelly pretty much every match.
Dead hard is still in the top 10 of perks so a lot of players enjoy it and this perk fits perfectly with it. It doesn't need to be a powerhouse to not be bad.
Don't get me wrong, it's nerfed a lot. I don't think it will be meta anymore.
But there is a very large margin between meta and "obliterated into uselessness"
It's fine, it will still see play.
I think it's just a lot of kneejerk reactions of 3k+ players who forget that they don't represent the game as a whole. Mayority of players will 100% still be able to play well with this. It's still as powerfull as it was, just more tricky to activate.
-

No, it's dead for the vast majority of players.
If your perk relies on another perk, which relies on PING to get value, neither perk is good.
MFT is just a poor man's Buckle Up and it will kill more people than it will save.
Be real here, this is a knee jerk reaction.
Been awhile since i've been on the forums but weren't you the one who said DH is not a good perk cause killers turn it off by hitting you off hook? If killers do it that often you still get vallue out of the perk. It's not hard to get in deep wounds
This version of MfT is still better then the mayority of other survivor perks

So the perk is bad.
It can be triggered like, twice per game.
It's #########, not worth running and is another absolute failure from BHVR to nerf a perk without obliterating it.
Another absolute fail from players to not know the difference between nerfed and obliterated.
I agree it's 100% nerfed. But it still pairs up well with dead hard or other ways to give yourself endurance.
Just cause something isn't superstrong and top 10 pickrate doesn't mean it's "obliterated".
It's fine. good players can still make good use of it. Just requires a bit more thought now
-
I think it's a case of let's see. Way to many changes at once for anyone to have a clue.
Biggest buff is obviously 4.6 movement but that comes with a increased terror radius so the old problem where people just run the second they hear you isn't gone.
Trickster catching people of guard was when he was at his strongest and that's less likely to happen now. Obviously still way more of a net buff but it isn't all upsides
Faster throwing rate by base but increased blades needed by laceration in theory cancels eachother out but in practise you're most likely aren't hitting every knife and will it be enough to sneak a extra knife in during long wall loops?
I don't know, without seeing it in practise you can't know. Honestly how easy it will be to be accurate with knives when recoil drops is a bigger factor then people are realising i think.
The main event change is the one that is kinda overblown imo. All other flaws of main event are still there.
If you hit 6 knives will you really spend the time to activate main event to slow yourself down to a crawl and watch the survivor dart off with their on hit speed boost.
Any rock is a infinite against main event. It's still a highly situational move. No matter how frequent you get it.
And i might be wrong about this but i believe you still spend knives in main event so misuse really sets you back hard. It's not the one button wonder people are thinking it is
Lastly his ammo count hasen't changed so by base he went from 7.3 healthstates before reload to 5.5 healthstates with perfect accuracy which let's be real isn't doable with trickster.
Probably a estimated avarage of going down to 4 healthstates per reload instead of 6 if the trickster is good.
The only obvious concern here is the addon that auto reloads him. Outside of that it's obviously a buff but you can't really tell how much of a buff without seeing it in action
-

Why is nobody talking about the Camping changes? All I see right there is a great way to improve tunneling. A killer that intends to tunnel has just been given a quicker way to do it. They don't even have to wait for another survivor to show up! This will also lead to an increase in hook suicides in solo. Why would the selfish individuals that already suicide when they are first hooked bother giving the potentially camping killer another hit to help the other survivors? They will leave the match like before but now they have to use those attempts up even earlier or they will have the guaranteed unhook. Expect faster suicides and many more 3v1s with one gen done.
The way to reduce camping and tunneling (and slugging too!) is to give basekit Unbreakable if one survivor has been killed. This should be what they are doing, not improving tunneling and suicides.
I really like that BHVR is finally admitting old killers need some love but their idea of buffs really aren't going to do much.
I don't see how it helps tunneling at all.
You choose when to jump off so jumping off at the last second is always going to waste time of a camping killer vs not jumping off.
Even if you don't bother running at all it adds ~10 seconds to each hookstages cause the killer has to hit you twice and rehook you.
-

How BBQ helps you tunnel? It supposed to do opposite if you mean getting someone else down and hooked with it help and then seeing earlier survivor with BBQ and going after them that is not tunneling. That's being smart.
Wooosh
-
These kind of treats just show how worthless the feedback on the forums is.
If any of you played a single match with it you would have noticed it wasen't nerfed at all. Just a text error.
Too many people that want to voice their experiences before having said experiences
-
I always found that such a ignorant statement.
Hate to say it but developing a game does in fact not involve playing casual matches and having fun.
It's spending hours searching through a code to find ways to fix a bug. Most of their time is probably spend on making sure that the next chapter functions.
People who say that devs should play their own game are more often then not people who play it for 3-4+ hours a day. You're bassically asking them to take a second non-paying job. These are people with a life.
If you feel like things are changing too slow and think that the solution is that the devs should spend more time playing their game rather then actually working on it then you're not the sharpest knife in the drawer
-
A common addon for Legion that makes their fatigue silent.
The amount of downs you would get against people that just insta mend by going around a corner and silently getting out of your power
Iri addon for Billy to make him Space Billy again
-
The devs have access to way more data then we do, if they know there is a bug with a certain perk then they know to not take the matches with said perk too seriously when estimating things.
So i'm on the side of doing it. The more people experience it, the more feedback they will get and the more likely something is going to be done about it
-
@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3505049#Comment_3505049
I don't disagree that it causes issues, but i think there is a bigger thing people are ignoring. Context is always important when you look at data like this. Part of it is the date range, and MFT not existing for half of it. The other part is that this is for ALL players and not broken down by MMR. So there's a few things to note:
1st, MFT didn't exist for half of the time that the data recorded there was collected.
2nd, MFT is tied to a new survivor.
3rd, this data covers ALL players, not just top MMR, as evidence by how high self-care is (come on now)
4th, actually look at all of the survivor perks in the top 10 and how you get them.
- Windows of Opportunity - The biggest outlier, but probably the most "noob friendly" perk in the game
- Adrenaline - A free perk that every survivor has access to
- Resilience - A free perk that every survivor has access to
- Lithe - A perk on Feng min, by far the most played survivor in the game (should be obvious based how many skins she gets)
- Self-Care - A perk on a survivor that every player has access to
- Sprint Burst - A perk on a survivor that every player has access to
- Prove Thyself - A perk on a survivor that every player has access to
- Dead Hard - A perk on a survivor that you are given access to after completing the tutorial
- Bond - A perk on a survivor that every player has access to
- Spine Chill - A free perk that every survivor has access to
Additionally, windows and Lithe both appeared in the shrine shortly before this date range happened, and once again during the date range the data was collected.
Almost all of these perks are accessible to players who haven't bought anything other than the base game. So if anything, the only interesting thing here is how much of an outlier windows of opportunity is.
In fact, the most useful statistic would be pick rates, broken down by MMR, and adjusted for OWNING those perks. Because i'd guess a ton of these "5 hour megs" don't have MFT to begin with.
Yeah, how available perks are also plays a huge factor.
Unless they become more specific these stats don't say much. Fun to know bit not something to draw conclussions from
-
I think you are projecting a bit here
Playing a couple of games after work to have fun is exactly how i play for years now.
Are you sure it isn't you focussing so heavilly on the competitive side that you forgot what fun is?
DbD is as competitive as you want it to be.
If you need to sink 6 hyperfocussed hours to have fun doesn't that raise the question if you aren't trying to force something to be fun that just isn't to you anymore.
I feel that this is a personal problem. For how meme-y "play civ" is. I think you probably would benifit off playing something else for a while
-
So hopping in a locker to deny Jolt is cheating too? It's pretty much the same thing
-
I started playing right before leatherface released so i guess i count
-
To be fair the perk BHD is kinda busted. Not many people have acces to that perk

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see which one is more accurate. You just call them useless cause they don't fit your narrative
