There are no known content creators who have been with DBD since the beginning who are going to quit over the changes. That's how the content game works. You say things to get the clicks.
-
Joke's on You also doesn't seem to be tracking anymore. I'm stuck at 60%. I definitely got at least 4 hits right after a scamper in my last game and no progress. They were all after a pallet.
-
The unhooked survivor doesn't have collision. They can't get caught in your trap.
I'm also 99.9% sure that you won't be punished for a condemned kill or other mori-related deaths like Devour.
They think these things through.
-
Um, either your lying or you don't understand the changes. If you're happy with a 2k, play for fun, and don't sweat, the changes are buffs for you and will make the game more enjoyable.
It's going to be a positive change for 99% of players. The killer buffs are nice and actually give you a reason not to camp and tunnel.

No. If I was running solo q killer in 2v8, I would never ever want Ghostface as the teammate, regardless if they picked Fearmonger.
Seeing a Ghostface killer teammate is massively disappointing, and just ruins the vibes of the entire game. I waited through a massive killer queue time, just to be disappointed before the game has even started?
The entire game, I would just imagine how much better everything would be if my teammate picked someone more useful like Billy/Oni/Legion/Blight.
You're not doing 2v8 right if you're sweating every game and looking for maximum efficiency.

Those people who say Ghost Face is good are either Main Survis or people who don't play him. All the Killers received buffs, and Ghost Face was the only one who got nerfed.
Then they're the same ones who complain that we see too much Billy/Oni/Legion/Blight...
Or they're people who do play him. He got three noticeable buffs that pair well with the fearmonger class, and the exposed duration "nerf" isn't noticeable at all. You need to kill quickly in 2v8, and he's one of the better killers at doing so if you're a decent M1 killer. With how fast you can expose survivors and also make them exposed for your partner, it would be ridiculous if you could just expose a group of survivors forever.
His buffs are far better than what they gave Trapper, Nemesis, and Slinger.

It wasn't a well thought out change at all. That's why it feels that way. Something cool to separate Chucky from other rush attack killers like Demogorgon or Wesker would've been to give him actually control of his Slice & Dice attack, instead of having your movement locked. He's had that setback in every one of his iterations (except the 180° exploit), and people still called him OP.
The devs really think survivors are stupid, and they balance off that assumption. Because as you said, the only way this attack can possibly function after a Scamper is if the survivors simply run in a straight line, giving you a free hit for no good reason. If you had more control, as I suggested, then the situation would be different. But in its current state, it's literally a worse rush attack in every way compared to Hillbilly's, Demogorgon's, and Wesker's.
I did play Chucky when he released, and man was he crap. Who would've thought a 110% killer would end up being weak? With manual scampering, even with the 2% Haste add-on, you couldn't even get good survivors at loops (110% killer, remember?); they'd always make it around again to the pallet. Same thing can be said about Ghoul's pallet/window vault; that's not a free hit at all, just another chance for the survivor to get another go-around. But yeah, Chucky: Way overestimated on his strength, way overnerfed. Reminds me of old Freddy being put in S tier.
Um, what? Release Chucky was extremely strong and oppressive. Not quite on Nurse's level, but he was without question a top five killer in the game.
Release Freddy was also definitely S tier. You can't argue that he wasn't. But he was more S tier because he was broken and it was clear they didn't think some things through before they released him.
-
It's fun and you get a cool new animation. Do you really need anything more than that?
-
People on these forms are so odd and don't live in the real world. There are probably about six people worldwide who looked at the patch notes and thought, "Yes! That's how I can win games."
Everyone is just jumping to the worst case scenario without asking if what they're thinking makes sense at all. 99.9999% of the player base would rather play another game than slink around a map trying to get a "win" that is completely meaningless and isn't tracked in any way.
Trolls are going to troll no matter what. The changes will improve that slightly. No one is going to change the way the play the game because of the changes.
-
Items and add-ons aren't comparable at all. Survivor teams also get 16 add-ons every game compared to the killer's 4.
-
Make some friends, play with those friends, and you'll have fun.
What you're asking for is literally impossible with a 4v1 game. No matter what they do, people with figure out how to optimize their play. DBD's current state is actually pretty balanced, and there would have to be major nerfs to survivor to try and eliminate tunneling. Most survivors don't understand how balancing works and would lose their minds even more over nerfs.
There are plenty of ways to have fun in the game even when you're getting tunneled. I prefer getting tunneled to sitting on gens all game. Get better at the chase and run shoulder the burden.

No other game provides convenience for solo players, especially this one, and all such support is part of destroying the balance of this game.
They are like a solo play community, so all they have to do is just go and make friends. Is the solution to playing S-tier killers because of balance issues?
Do YouTubers try to upload videos that they are not good at?
S tier is not invincible. I have invested thousands of hours into this game, but I just hate the developers who only listen to the cries of beginners and the game that turns into a mess as a result. If you've put thousands of hours into the game, it's a you problem. There are some pretty big swings with perceived balance in the game. If both the killer and survivors are new, it massively favours the killer. Then it seems to favour survivors for a while because it's easier to get really good at survivor, especially if the survivors are playing with friends. But once the killer player understands and masters a few killers and understands what they should be doing in all phases of the game, it leans heavily in the killer's favour again. At the highest level of play, it's actually in a pretty good state balance-wise.
If you're a strong killer player, you should be easily winning like 75% or more of your pub games. Instead of spending your time complaining, spend your time figuring out what you need to do to improve.
-
You're definitely too old to be caring so much about what someone says in the post-game chat that you needed to screenshot it and make a forum topic about it. Unless your job requires a public persona, you really should stop caring about what random people think about you sometime in your 20s.
-
Lockers are everywhere. Once you've played a map a few times, you can always find one immediately when you need one.
I guess maybe they could add one since they've got everything else covered, but it would be useless for 99% of the playerbase.
-
I absolutely agree. Selfish d-bags are going to ruin the game for other people no matter what. No DC penalty means there will be less people killing themselves on hook and/or actively trying to ruin the game.
I can win a game with a bot or two. Can't do much when someone immediately makes the game a 3v1 or 3v2.

I like the concept but 60 seconds is too long. If it was 30 or so it would be way more worth it, considering it has an activation condition.
It's already borderline busted at 60. You're supposed to be stealth genning for the 60, and It also activates from finishing a heal. So if you're coordinated, you can just tap someone at a 99 heal to get it activated.

What are you talking about its 100% relevant… reread the post. replacing meat with bugs is different than telling the customer to F-off take it up with the manufacturer.
It's not different at all. They're never going to just killswitch a character indefinitely until they figure out a rework, just like McDonald's is never going to replace their meat with bugs, just like no one is going tell the customer to F-off and take it up with the manufacturer. You're making up nonsensical scenarios that will never happen.
If, and again, this will never happen, they did decide to killswitch a character indefinitely, there's a 99% chance that they would just automatically give you a refund if you recently purchased the character. They've done stuff like that in the past. Or they'd give plently of warning.

Negative ghost rider. Its called a monopoly, a legal monopolization at that. Imagine if stores decided to (Protected by law) discontinue item returns and you would actually now have to get in touch with the manufacturer to get your money back. That would be extremely bad for business, the difference here is we are dealing with the digital landscape of retail. So imagine 10,000 people buy SM right now and 2 days later BVHR killswitchs her until a rework happens whenever that is, tough luck people and people like you would support it because well "They knew what the deal was when they agreed with the EULA before playing the game, they don't have to play this game there are other games out there…" blah blah blah. I would venture to guess every game out there is protected with EULA and it's ethically not right.
Your nonsensical hypotheticals aren't relevant at all to this conversation.
If McDonald's replaced all their meat with fried bugs, it would be bad for business. It's also something that's never going to happen.
-
Even if there was any legal standing for demanding a refund, which there isn't, there is no way that the amount of time and effort required to go through a legal process is worth the $5 you'd get back.
Live service games also aren't a new thing. That's what the live means. They're going to change the game and content you paid for.

Indeed it's already 2 weeks that i avoid to play dbd, but that's not the point of the post... The point is that right now the game is actually boring to play (at least for me)... It's not about winning or losing anymore at this point, simply put the game isn't enjoyable anymore for the reasons that i stated above... Trying to playing chill won't last longer for a reason: try to play chill aganist toxic people that are present 9/10 matches, i bet that you'll surely lose your will to play chill...
What are you considering toxic behaviour? Are you just overreacting to someone pressing control a couple of times? The vast majority of the community is just looking to have fun. I play a lot of DBD and encounter truly toxic gamers maybe once or twice a month. Of course, that number will increase if you're hard camping and tunnelling, but the majority of the time, if you're trying something fun with survivors, they'll join in.
Survivors who won't leave unless you're watching them is mildy annoying, but that's about as toxic as survivors get 99% of the time.
The only thing that is unfun 100% of the time in DBD these days are Chucky games.
-
Lots of ways to have fun in the game if you're not so focused on tying your fun to wins and losses.
Survivors are also rarely toxic unless you're camping and tunneling. If you're trying a fun build, most of the time they'll play along.
You obviously aren't having a good time with the game. Why not for something else to do with your time?
-
If everything works for you on Xbox, it'll be fine. But what possible reason could you have to delete your Steam account?

Normally it's only 100% for 1vs4. Then you have 3-4 cakes per game so in fact 1vs4 does not need any bp incentives.
It does if the killer queues are 15 minutes.
If people want 2v8 to be permanent, they need to find a way not to kill 1v4.

All bp incentives are on 1vs4 that they are testing now. Giving more would bonus to 1vs4 is not smart instead 2vs8 should have bigger incentive as no cakes.
No. There is a 150% bonus for survivors in both modes.

No they are not? Games that give both sides the same tools to win (League of Legends Gold/XP/Champions/Runes/Towers etc) CS (T & CT) etc are comp games… DBD has 2 completely different sides and therefore can not be a competitive game :) No matter how much u would want it to be
I'm not sure you know what the word competitive means. DBD has two completely different sides competing against each other. It's the very definition of competitive. There's nothing about the word that implies parity.
How can you say it's not a competitive game when the modes have a V in them? Do you know what the V stands for?
-
I'm pretty sure they'd lose the most hardcore of their fanbase if they made it permanent. It's popular because it's a goofy party mode where you don't have to think. It removes like 95% of what makes DBD enjoyable at high-level play. It was fun for a week, but it's mind numbing now.
1v4 is basically unplayable with 2v8 active since the queues take forever and the already sketchy matchmaking is basically turned off when you're in a long queue.
They need to test if removing all BP incentives and adding them to 1v4 makes a change.

Myers isn’t weak, he can bypass all hook states to insta-kill survivors. As long as that true calling him weak is super disingenuous. Pig is a lot better after her buffs. Not S-tier, but not weak. Krueger is weak imo but apparently he does well at low MMR.
Myers is weak against everyone except survivors who don't understand the game. It's extremely difficult to even get two kills against competent survivors using tombstone.

My escape rate after 60 games in 2v8 is 35%.
Are you going out of your way to get chased? As long as you have 2 to 3 survivors in your game that understand the gens need to get done, it's pretty easy to escape more often than not. It's definitely a survivor-sided mode. The survivor perks are quite OP if you have competent players.
-
@aarontendo said:
Bottom line is it's an awful mode for survivors, with limited play options and only there to provide an experience for killers. Hence why there's a huge bonus for survivors...welcome to grinding them bloodpoints. Playing as killer was fun of course. May as well allow survivor bots because it's the only way this mode survives.
How is it an awful mode for survivors? The regular mode also has limited play options for survivors. The only thing you can't do in 2v8 is flashlight saves, but the class system is a fun change up.
There's a lot more going on and you have far more options than the regular mode. I don't see how anyone can enjoy the regular game and not at least have some fun for a couple weeks with 2v8 unless you're a super sweaty tryhard who only wants every mach to be as competitive as possible.
More killers and maps would be nice, but that's really all that needs to change. Maybe another survivor class or two.

How can you be tunneled by a mechanic that was copy/pasted from one of the best tunneling killers? In a mode where you'll get "scout mode" teammates urbaning away after uncaging you? In a mode with zero anti-tunnel perks? Yea this will go about as well as lights out mode once killers figure that out.
400% of 5k is still less than an average killer score so I'll stick with that role thanks.
Have you even played 2v8 yet? I've been playing all afternoon, and it's heavily survivor-sided. Almost every game has been 6+ out. Do you have an offensive name that's getting killers to go out of their way to tunnel you? It's extremely detrimental to the killers to try and tunnel someone in the mode.
-
@Eelanos said:
I don't think people realize the huge difference a 5% can make. In most other games I play, a 5% difference is the difference between trash and midtier characters, and between mid and godtier. Heck, people in this very forum had a mental breakdown over a 3% speed increase.
We're acting in this thread like the difference between 39% and 48% escape rate doesn't deserve getting addressed. Like, yeah, it might be a difficult problem to tackle, and obviously the people casually enjoying the perks of playing 4-man will get annoyed if we tried, but it is very much a huge balancing issue whether you like it or not.
People always say "But why would you punish people for playing with friends!!", but as it stands, the game punishes people for playing by themselves. It's a constant stream of balancing patches directed entirely either to high rank players or premades, while soloq gets worse and worse each patch. And yet, soloq players cannot tell others "I'm being camped!", "The killer is at shack!" or "The killer is trying to 3-gen!", a gameplay advantage that premades of all types have (casual premades included) and that unavoidably helps them getting an edge over soloq, no matter if they're using professional map callouts or singing I Want It That Way the rest of the time.
You're only talking about newer and bad players though. It's really easy to tell when someone is being camped. It's also not that difficult to figure out the general area the killer is in. Breaking a 3-gen should be on survivors' minds in every game. We're given all the information we need to succeed in the HUD.
The only problem with solo queue is the players you're matched with. If you're matched with 3 other competent survivors, you'll probably win or at least have an enjoyable experience. It's really only basic stuff too. Spread out, do gens, and pay attention to the HUD. That's all it takes.

Its actually more easy then you think. There are some elements that make it obvious like matching names, matching outfits or players commenting on each others profile. The more subtile hints have to be observed in game. You will notice pretty quick if survivors are coordinated, run clock system or pre run/hide even though they shouldn't have information of your whereabout.A pretty good hint is also when survivors who haven't been in a chase with you yet are counterplaying your perks. Even though its not 100 % proof its pretty consistent.
The second part of your argument is more speculating. IF you find surviors or IF you win chases fast. Loosing a gen per chase is pretty common these days and depending on map and killer/build you are not in the position to match that.
Thats okay though as different maps are better or worse for different killers.
But that is if you get a neutral map which is more rare lately as most of the survivors I face bring map offerings for survivor sided maps.Judging by your comments in this thread, there's a zero percent chance you've ever gone against a group of survivors using the clock system for callouts. 99% of survivor players aren't at that level. It takes way too much work and practice to be able use it effectively and you're not getting matched against those players.
-

If there were more significant performance differences, they could have been used properly. Also, the carnifex chase needed some features. Who would ever let Carnifex chase when there is a 10 second cooldown with any of the guards?
That's the point. You're not supposed to chase with carnifex. And there are significant enough differences between the jailer and assassin. Assassin is better for when you're actually chasing someone and can plop it down on top of them. Jailer is more about longer paths and controlling an area.

the main problem with DBD:
1.) solo queue players are playing a game of checkers
2.) SWF players are playing a game of chess
3.) you can only balance the killer around checkers or chess
4.) but you can give solo queue buffs that make them stronger
5.) or you can nerf SWF that make them weaker
6.) and before you say "any buff to solo queue is a buff to SWF" that's not true at all. not if we gave solo queue more perks, or took away perks from SWF, or added in similar modifiers that altered the game for one but not the other.
Is your goal to get people to quit playing DBD? Why would you ever make it a worse experience to play with your friends?
There is nothing to do to buff solo queue besides letting us see everyone's builds. When they updated the UI to let us see what everyone is doing, it gave us 90% of the information we need to be successful. The problem isn't the game. The problem is the players, and it's pretty much an impossible problem to fix.
The biggest buff they could give solo queue would be to eliminate the DC penalty. Players giving up is by far the biggest problem. More bots is way more preferable than every other game being 1v3 after the first survivor is downed. Is buffing solo queue going to stop players from crouch walking around the edges of the map whenever someone is getting chased or stop players from all immediately bum rushing the hook to fight over the unhook?
-
@appleas said:
If I had a nickel for everytime someone said "You can't punish people for playing with their friends!" Lol
While swf and solo queue may not be that far in terms of escape rate, swf with comms does feel better to play than solo queue and that gets downplayed a lot here I feel. A similar comparison would be PTB and the first live iteration of Vecna. What exactly do you mean it gets downplayed a lot? Obviously playing with your buds is a more enjoyable experience and it's brought up all the time.

And here is the person who takes it personally lmao. This discussion is not about me or you. It is a general problem that my friends and I are facing a lot as well as others. And the intended rate is and always has been 60 % kill rate. So if that number is not met. things need to be adjusted
How do you know it's a problem that you and your friends are facing. You have no way to know if you're against a team. I've had killers complain so many times about SWF nonsense in post game chat when we were all solos. It's really not that hard to coordinate with other solo players if you're paying attention.
It's also not that difficult to beat the majority of SWFs if you're a competent killer player. If you can find survivors, win chases quickly, and keep track of gen progress, SWFs can't do much and will often throw games trying to be overly altruistic.
The magic 60% your asking for is pretty much bang on already in all scenarios except the extreme cases.
The only change they need to make is to let solo players see everyone's build so we can use a wider variety of perks effectively.
-
Both of your takes are wrong. The mage hand nerf is actually a buff against good survivors. The addon already shows that because by lifting pallets faster, survivors are able to drop the pallet to stun Vecna. Having to crouch only counters the power against bad Vecnas. You slow down when you crouch and lose distance. A good Vecna will use it to guarantee hits because if you crouch, they'll just whack you.
-
Just another case of the general public having no clue about what goes into making games and just assuming that everyone is involved in everything. In no way does having a consultant program make the Fog Whisperers useless or meaningless. Fog Whisperers promote the game. That's it. There are plenty of Fog Whisperers who aren't great at the game and have awful takes about how to improve it. But that's fine.
Having a deep understanding of the game and being able to look at it from all angles is essential to being good consultant and not really important at all to being a good Fog Whisperer. They're two completely different things.
-
They desperately need to add a way to see what your perks do. There are way too many perks and you wouldn't want to use 75% of them in a normal game. I have no idea what a lot of the perks even do when I get them. I'd be shocked if 5% of the playerbase could pick out leverage from the icon and explain what it does. Lots of perks like that.

In video game reality, it fits with the logic of the game.
-
No. The game is in a pretty good spot right now. Probably the most balanced it's ever been. Gamers just want to complain.
Solo queue is also fine. I escape more often than not, and they already buffed it with the UI indicators. All they need to do is let us see everyone's build and it'll be perfect.

How do you know AFK survivors are being penalized?
You can report survivors and killers after the game for being AFK and that should theoretically lead to a penalty if they're reported enough. I've never heard about anyone penalized for going AFK though.

There are a grand total of 3 killers who can place traps
Trapper who's already weak
Hag who can be ignored by crouch walking, or using a flashlight if you really want
Freddy who can only trap you in sleep mode
It's such a niche, and weak, playstyle that it's fine unless the devs go wild and intentionally start buffing things
Demo with Lifeguard Whistle and Resin is really effective against uncoordinated and/or teams, but most competent survivors figure it out pretty quickly and can play around it.
It's one of the few ways you can actually get value out of Devour.
