People predicted this would happen though. When I saw the new regression change I was like, oh nice, when a Killer uses Pain Res I will tap it for 4 seconds to deny him to Pop it on top. But after 7,5 years of developing this still comes as a surprise?
That's not the issue, and it's not what's getting fixed. You'll still be able to do that. You won't be able to do it indefinitely so the killer can never go interact with it again.
It's also stronger than it sounds and will hinder survivors in most situations. You're basically keeping Ruin on the gen. It'll take longer to finish the gen and you're more likely to lose your progress when the killer chases you off and doesn't have to do anything.

.....Wraith, GF, Wesker and Nemesis are my mains, but I usually rotate new Killers in. I don't really appreciate the insinuation.
If I'm playing Billy, I'm not trying to M1, friend. I'm trying to use his saw, which isn't helped by knowing how to use Wraith. I've played every Killer extensively besides Hag, SM, Nurse and Billy. No interest in Hag or SM. Nurse makes me motion sick and Billy just got buffed.
I have legitimately never touched him outside of his Adept and Saw achievement which I farmed for during the 4th Anni, I think.
Well, if you're winning with M1 killers and understand the meta aspects, it shouldn't take that long to learn Billy. He's not that different. Spend a couple of nights grinding with him to figure out his chansaw and you should be competent with him.

Uh, I care if I lose a hundred matches???
Who would WANT to do that?
If you're losing the majority of your matches just from switching killers, it means you don't really know how to play DBD as killer. I'm guessing you only play Nurse and/or Blight.
Start with a basic M1 killer like Wraith and actually learn how the game works. After that, it's pretty straight forward to move between killers and still win most games.
If you're a solid killer player and spend 10 or so games just focusing on learning how to chainsaw, you should be back to winning most of your games no matter what your MMR is.
You want to win with Billy, 10 or so games. You want to master Billy, thousands of hours.
-
It's not really a compromise since it heavily favours killers. Adding the limit without buffing killers would have been perfectly fine.

This kind of thing happens fairly regularly. Not necessarily always surge related, but there are plenty of things that can cause a generator to get hit multiple times in quick succession. The whole "8 will never happen except for 3 gen campers" is an absolutely ridiculous belief.
You won't come close to regressing a single gen 8 times if you're playing normally. Go play ten games and report back how many times the 8 regressions would have come into play. The number is going to be zero unless your normal playstyle is to stay at one gen and kick it over and over again or you're hard camping à three gen from the start, which is what they don't want. Even if you have a heavy regression build with eruption, surge, pain res, and pop, you're not going to get to 8 on a single gen unless you're really, really bad at chasing.
It's a significant buff for killers in 99% of games when you factor in the doubling of gen kicking and getting rid of gen tapping. Not to mention that Ruin is back to being kind of useful.
-
@Azulra said:

Yeah, I just realized the part about Ruin because I knew about the 2.5% regression, but I didn't register the "in an instant" part so that's my bad. However though the point still stands that this system could make people feel helpless/powerless(especially for new players who don't have significant regression perks yet) because then they can't defend their gens anymore leaving them with really only one option which is to tunnel and camp which, as it was already addressed, not a fun play style.
The main problem they're currently facing is that they're ONLY trying to make stuff more appeasing to survivors by taking stuff from killers which then backs them into a corner where they have to do things that aren't very fun for either side. Instead what they should be doing is giving more options to the killers to encourage more play styles so that killers would stray away from the problematic play styles more. For example: After hooking someone the a random gen with a minimum of 10% progress on it is highlighted and kicking that gen causes a basekit Pop Goes The Weasel which would encourage more killers to go to gens after hooking someone instead of straight up proxy camping immediately which could lower the chances of finding killers doing that. Or unhooking a survivor makes you exposed for a short time to encourage the killer to chase after you instead of tunneling out your teammate immediately.
Adding those kinds of things would be the opposite route that they're currently going on, but would be more likely to resolve some of the problems the game currently has with play styles imo.
It's crazy to say they're only taking stuff from killers to appease survivors. It's a pretty significant buff to killers. They're doubling the regression you get from kicking a gen and getting rid of gen tapping. Both are pretty huge and potentially affect every game. Eight regression events on a gen is a lot and will rarely come into play. I highly doubt the 5% regression per kick will make it to live servers.
Maybe if they were nerfing other slowdown it would be fine, but they're not. Even Grim Embrace will now be another viable (strong?) slowdown option.

not saying it's impossible or anything but;
You sit on a gen and run away when you see her coming.
run away to where? to any nearby possible safety that she's already put a drone at? if she is running from gen to gen kicking, never trying to take free hits committing to chases for a bit yes that's a baby player and you shouldn't struggle against that. if you don't want to give her that free hit/scans you need to run very early, and gens never get done like that hence why it's tedious and annoying; essentially a waste of time.
tbf it's not her 3 gen potential that irks me about that killer, it's just the most free and braindead area denial in the game that's her power.
It's not that tricky. Run away from the three gen. She only has a limited number of drones and can't have them everywhere. She's also probably going to be holding on to one or two. She can't have a drone army around all the paths away from three gens.
There are no free hits if you're holding w. If she chases you across the map, your buds will finish a gen. If she doesn't follow you, turn around and get back on the gen as soon as she turns around.
-
I'm not really sure what you're saying, but if you aren't finding time to do gens because you're busy doing something else, that's fine. If you aren't finding time to do gens because you need to crouch in the corner just in case, that's not so fine.
If you're good at chase, having the killer chase you is the best thing you can bring doing for your team. Unhooking when no one else is, super good. Leaving a gen to unhook when two other people are leaving gens to unhook, super bad.
The biggest thing you can do in solo queue to be successful is to play around what your teammates are doing. Always keep on eye on the HUD to know what they're doing and make sure you're finding time for gens if no one else is doing them.

Outside of chase that would help. But when she is following you, and you have to run through a cluster of drones you just get injured instantly. On top of that in deep wound and also hindered. While she gets even faster because you (and maybe also others) are inside of a drone zone. You barely need any killer experience to play her, if you have a few hundred hours you can beat a team with a few thousand hours each. Just use a drone, force a hit, use a drone, force a hit. While walking inbetween 3 gens, not leaving the area, kicking a gen, placing a drone. Hell how is this even fun, I get agitated when I think about it
It sounds like you just don't really know what to do. It's really easy to break a three gen against any killer who is protecting three gens from the start.
You sit on a gen and run away when you see her coming. That's it. If she chases you, everyone else is doing a gen and you win. If she doesn't chase you, go back to the gen. If she's been camping the three gen since the beginning, you should have four survivors left and she can't keep up.
You should never get scanned or hindered or anything since you're running away from the gen. Why are you running through a cluster of drones? They can't scan you more than once, they have to detect you to activate, and you can see them. A cluster of drones also means the Skull Merchant doesn't know how to play Skull Merchant. If there's a cluster of drones away from the gens, how is she protecting the gens?
If she puts a gen next to a gen, it also shows they don't know what they're doing. You can easily disable it without a penalty or just sit on the gen since it won't detect you.

With the old system I did: Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Myers, Hag, Doctor, Huntress, Leatherface, Freddy, Pig, Clown, Spirit, Legion, Plague, Ghostface, Demogorgon, Oni, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, Blight, Twins and Onryo.
With the new system I only did Adept Dredge.
But now that you made think about it, I realize I only said that because I am still a little salty from second attempt for Adept Dredge. Because let me tell ya, maximizing those emblems but not getting the achievement because the last guy managed to find the hatch was absolutely infuriating.
Yeah, I don't think you understood the change they made. There's no more maximizing emblems. You get the 4k, that's it. Done.
Unless I misunderstood you and the maximizing emblems wasn't related to Dredge.

Killer adepts were far easier when Merciless Killer didn't require you to kill all four survivors.
I got my Adept Huntress on Fractured Cowshed even though the last survivor actually found the hatch and escaped.
Either you didn't try for many adepts with the old system or you don't know how the new system works. The new system makes the adept achievements pretty much trivial and you don't really have to put much thought into anything. With the old system, there were so many ways you could fail.

It's not about winning but how winning not anything related to performance of the survivor. It not an accomplishment to lose most of your matches but win the one match because killer allowed it. Of all the times I rarely won as survivor I never felt it was anything I did. It was RNG. Even if you do 3 or 4 gens without getting caught you still lose because the killer slugged or denied an escape using endgame perks. The games are not fun either with endless tunneling, slugging, and people suiciding.
The streamers don't play solo, they only play with other high experienced players and they only win against killers with far less experience or let them win out of pity because of who they are.
It sounds like you just need to get better at chase. Running the killer around the map is the most fun you can have as a survivor and you definitely feel like you contributed to a win if you looped them while multiple gens got done. If you ran the killer for 13 minutes and your teammates just crouched in a corner, you still had fun for 13 minutes.
If you really want to win games as a solo survivor, get really good at chase but then try and avoid getting chased and prioritize getting the right gens quickly. If you slam gens and then can't get caught when they find you, you'll win a lot more than you'll lose, and you'll definitely feel like you had an impact on the game. Just keep at it and stop worrying about the outcome of every individual game. You'll improve if you focus on what you did wrong instead of always blaming the killer and your team.

What does it matter if the killer hits me immediately or later as long as I remain protected from that hit? With borrowed time, sure the Killer can count and then hit and still get fooled by borrowed time, but the end result is the same, is it not? The only difference I see here still is that OTR protects you way longer. So even if the Killer knows this, you still ensure some level of enhanced protection over Borrowed time.
I'm not sure you understand how the perks work. OTR is something you run for yourself as it activates when you get unhooked. BT is for survivors you unhook. They serve different purposes. You run OTR when you're worried about getting tunnelled and BT to help out your teammates. Running them both works well too. You can also technically use BT three times as many times as OTR in a match.

BHVR destroyed the enjoyment from survivor with nerfs followed by nerfs. Based on my perception, survivor mains have all abandoned the game and the only population remaining is killers and those killers play survivor or with their friends only. I don't think anyone can say they play survivor with a straight face and say they enjoy it.
Survivors that do stream show so much disgust. Their skill pays almost nothing in a trial.
Killers, on the other hand, proudly touts their huge winstreaks or relaxing while everyone dies.
Also, I don't think it's even possible to play as a new survivor and win. I really really don't. This is why nobody wants to play survivor.
I play solo queue survivor all the time and enjoy it. There's a ton of fun to be had as a survivor. You won't win every game and you'll have bad teammates fairly often, but none of that really gets in the way of having fun unless the only way you can enjoy yourself is by winning.
I'm also not sure what streamers you're watching, but most of the well-known ones have no trouble escaping if they really want to.

They're already extremely easy compared to killer, which are still pretty easy now. You just need to escape once.

The funny thing about everyone complaining about how bad playing survivor is that playing survivor has been so much better recently. I've had way way more teammates who understand the basic fundamentals of the game. It is mostly on the players for the miserable experience. Behaviour has done quite a bit to improve the solo queue experience.
The only thing they really need to do is let us see everyone's loadout.

Yeah, it's not new player friendly. Which kind of blows my mind since you think they'd want to retain new players, not drive them away. Matchmaking in general in this game is confusing tbh.
It's a seven-year-old PVP game and there's nothing else like it. Skills from other games don't transfer over. It's an impossible task to make it friendly to new players. The only way to attempt to overcome this is to have a friend or a group of friends who can help you get up to speed.
It's the same for any other game that's been established forever. DOTA 2? Miserable for new players. Any online shooter? Miserable for new players if you don't have years of online shooter experience. Fighting games? Miserable for new players unless you're willing to lose most of your games for months. You need friends if you want to get into established games.
DOTA 2 specifically has infinite money and resources and put a ton of effort into making the game more accessible for new players and it's still a miserable experience unless you're the type of person who enjoys learning through losing repeatedly.

I sound like a new player because I’m pointing out issues with this miserable killer’s kit? I’m approaching level 50 devotion. I am far from new.
“She’s not strong at anything except getting you to leave a loop… most killers have that going for them”
You’re telling me, that nearly all but a couple of the killers have powers that force you to hold W? You wanna stand by that?
Your devotion level is meaningless. You don't know how Skull Merchant works or how to play against her if you think she's anywhere close to the most miserable killers to go against. Wait until you go against a good Pyramid Head, or a face camping Bubba, or a box camping Pig. Current Skull Merchant is middle of the pack when it comes to how much fun a killer is to play against. She has nothing in her kit can ruin a game for a survivor.
I also never said nearly all. I said most.

1) A decent amount? Skull merchant, knight, and artist. What “decent amount” are you talking about? Holding W is a universal tactic, yes, but it IS skull merchant’s most encouraged counterplay, and that is so unhealthy and boring.
2) Even if you make it to the window, or back to the pallet, her drone will still take effect. That is my point. You will still get injured even if you make the loop.
3) I’ve got a fantastic headset. But not everybody can afford quality headsets or even a headset at all. She’s much quieter than any other stealth killer.
4) Hag requires a significant more input than SM does. I heavily dislike artist as well because of the counterplay she encourages.
5) Regardless, his mechanical skill level is leagues higher than SM, and his hinder is much less significant than SM. That’s my point.
Last: Did I say at the same time? No. I asked, can her kit cause all of those status effects? Many of them can absolutely be caused simultaneously. It’s undeniable. Her kit does way too much for too little effort with too little counterplay. The vast majority of players share that same view.
I foresee changes in her future again. Especially with her sky high kill rate.
I don't think you understand how her drones work now. There are a bunch of ways to avoid detection including standing still. It's really hard to get a claw tap on a survivor who isn't a potato.
Is she fun to play against? Not really. Is she awful to play against? Not really. Is she strong and oppressive? Not at all.

Thats the point of Sadako’ annoying part that I wanna make.
Sure I can run to another TV. What make them think I can reach to that TV before Sadako can teleport on it again?
A single TV is a race between me against Sadako and 3 teammates. Sadako may not tele to the 2nd TV that Im coming, mean my teammates will struggle to get/deposit their tape.
Eventually 1 of us will get fully condemned for a mori.
That just sounds like bad survivor play. She has to hit you to build condemn when you have a tape, and she doesn't have much to help in a chase. Grab a tape, spread out, do gens. If you need to get rid of stacks, stay on a gen until she's chasing someone else. Don't let condemn build past half so you can take a hit of you need to. It's really difficult to fully condemn anyone if you're doing basic stuff like that. If they manage to pull it off, tip your hat to them and move on to the next game.
If a Sadako can easily down you at will in a chase, you're going to lose to any other killer too.
-
You're asking why everyone is an #########, but in reality, the vast majority of people are lovely. Some people are jerks. Stop letting them get to you so much. Ignore them.
-
You contradict yourself multiple times while answering your own question. Doing nothing but teleporting doesn't work against most survivors.
Grab a tape and she has to chase you and you get to participate in the match. If she isn't running the iri that makes you have to run across the map to deposit your tape, it's pretty trivial to get rid of your condemned stacks.

@Mandy said:
Pallets are not an infinite resource like windows are.
Part of learning how to play survivor is understanding the strength of each pallet and the loop it creates, for example that particular pallet in midwich room is next to unplayable when upright, not even looping it really helps, but is super strong when dropped. (room upstairs with a gen in, library I believe it is) That's a rare pallet though, most strong pallets you should loop to the maximum to avoid dropping them especially early in the game where survivors are already at their strongest.
Seeing someone dropping a god pallet casually in the early part of a match hurts my soul especially as they go down a couple of seconds later anyway.
If you're just dropping pallets and running away, you are not wasting the killer's time.
That's just factually wrong. It may not be the optimal way to run a loop, but if you're being chased and you drop most pallets, it's going to waste the killer's time. This is especially true for god pallets. If you drop the shack pallet while the killer is in the shack, they need to break it, catch up with you, or find someone else. It wastes a bunch of time. There are also a bunch of killers where pre-dropping a pallet and holding W is the best option.
It's also not great advice to tell newish survivors to greed pallets. It takes a long time to internalize how long it'll take you to run the loop again or get somewhere safe versus how long it'll take the killer. It wastes more of the killer's time dropping a pallet early and running away than greeding the pallet and going down.
The problem isn't really throwing pallets and running away as it is your survivor pals not doing gens while you're getting chased.
-

its importance is that there should always be a chance of escape, so that survivors keep trying, otherwise we don't have a game
Exactly this.
The whole game only functions if the survivors have some hope of escaping, which is also why things like hatch exist. It's a reason to keep playing a lost game. If survivors lose hope of escape, they give up more.
If you really want survivors to stop giving up on hook they need and actual chance to play the match. Ironically, the biggest thing that could be done to combat giving up on hook is to reduce the effectiveness of tunneling. Most of these instances are people who realize that the first player down just doesn't get to play that match at all and it's time to go next.
So if you remove the ability to maybe pull yourself off hook maybe once every ten games, people will lose all hope and quit the game entirely?
What about the 97.43% chance that if you're sitting there on the hook, one of your teammates is going to unhook you?
Letting people try and unhook themselves doesn't give them hope. It gives them a way to screw over their teammates in a way that they can't get punished for. After you do all the rounding, that's all it does.
-
Or, you know, don't let people kill themselves on hook. Somehow, that's an unreasonable solution.
Give them a Rubik's cube or something if you're that worried about survivors getting bored on hook.
-
Run up to snowmen. Some of them explode. Find two.

Not a huge nerf at all. He's still a top four killer, just a tad less oppressive.
It was eliminating an exploit. They also didn't quite fix it. You can still get to 135 or so. Same thing that happened when they did the same thing to Blight. We know how Blight just plummeted after they took away his 180 flicks.
-
They should really make undying base kit. Hexes still wouldn't be that strong, but it'd let you get at least a little value out of some more interesting builds. Always having a lit totem on the map is also a positive.

But question is that: What if i don't wanna use in game store? Buying chapter from platform is giving you option for family share. And i love to have them on my Steam library. And removing single chapters and forcing people to buy packs is just bad decision.
If you disagree, that's fine. But this does not make this change good for me. Thankfully i am already have all chapters.
How is it good or bad for you if you already own it. If you really just want to buy a single chapter, you have a month to do so, and they'll probably be dirt cheap right after Christmas.

They've answered that they don't have a problem with people killing themselves on hooks because they might be trying to legitimately unhook themselves and missing skill checks.
However, I bet you won't be able to ######### on hook sometime next year.

DBD doesn't track wins and losses. It's also on the survivors for not finishing the gens.
-
If a killer is going to camp a three gen the entire game, they'll lose 95% of the time unless the survivors are potatoes.
It's really not that hard to break a three gen if you have four survivors left. They can't be at all three gens at the same time, and if they try to chase anyone, they lose.
If you're having problems, run Deja Vu. You get guaranteed value every game.

I meant I would have preferred that type be released as OC if they were going for it. Licensed characters are hit or miss. So why not have a character happen to be a cop and Black with more cosmetics and original storyline. Idk why that poster thought it was weird…
They just said it was oddly specific. It is oddly specific, especially since you keep saying you don't necessarily want a Black cop and the Saw DLC was years ago. Why not bring up Quentin? He has to be the most nothing survivor in the game. Or any of the other licenced survivors?
There are lots of original survivors, and there will be many more. What's wrong with Tapp?
If you don't specifically want a Black cop, what difference does it make that Tapp is in the game? With how they've been rolling out survivors, I'm sure we'll get another Black survivor soon if that's what you're looking for.
-
Tunnelling is only a problem in SWF. If you get tunneled in solo queue, just move on to the next game.
Also, almost no one cares what you're doing in solo queue. People complain about how you play maybe 1% of the time unless you're actively throwing every match.

And what do you mean by put pressure on? It's absolutely in line with the genre for survivors to be doing everything they can to get away from the killer. I love those people who are like, "It's supposed to be a challenge" as their only argument for how awful these challenges are.
It's one thing for a challenge to be challenging and difficult to pull off, which isn't the issue. The issue is that certain challenges like this actually screw over your teammates who aren't participating in your challenge.
What game are you playing where trying to get flashlight saves is screwing over your teammates? Flashlight saves help your teammates. Learning how to do them will make you a better survivor, and you'll have more fun in the future.

If you look at the portraits, it tells you what your team is doing. Stay on your gen if no one else is. Go save if they're doing gens.

You need to understand what goes into programming a game. If there was a button to remove all techs and exploits, they'd press it. It can take a massive amount of work to find and fix some of these exploits. There are probably a ton of things they'd like to address, but they have to weight that against the man hours it would take to fix them problem.
I can 100% guarantee that they don't favour one side or the other when they're trying to fix things.

Does anyone use Franklin's or Lightborn?
