  • I think the grind is perfect. It's also fine for new players. New players will always have a build they're comfortable with when trying a new killer or switching survivors, and it's really not difficult to reach tier one if you see a perk you want.

I also just finished my grind this week and am kind of wondering what's the point of playing anymore.

  • That's a pretty big reach. There are dozens of horror movies with knife racks in them.

  • @jayoshi said:

My theory is that Chucky actually drags the survivor to a hook instead of picking them up. That the hook poles will be the normal height but only the hook itself will be lowered. Then when he hooks them from the ground (he still has the strength of a grown man) the hook rises to the top of the pole. A survivor could then be struggling to break free from his grasp on the ground and if they wiggle out, they stand up right away. That's the only way I can see that as working. But we will find out tomorrow if it even is chucky and if so how they will go about hooking.

That sounds like way too much work to program and animate.

  • What exactly is the point of this post? Play however you think is fun for you. If you only have fun getting a 4k, play to get a 4k. If you have more fun chasing every survivor equally, play like that. Who cares if someone presses CTRL in front of you? People gonna press CTRL no matter how you play.

My sibling in christ, the documents that you have to agree to in order to use software is the digital equivallant to signing a contract.

    It's very much legaly binding

There aren't very many EULAs that are actually enforceable, especially video game EULAs, since they're not that easy to understand and you aren't forced to agree to them before purchase. You also said you literally signed something, which you didn't.

Actually going through the hassle of trying to contest them on the other hand...

  • I couldn't disagree more. Unless you're a Huntress-only player, then yeah. It would be far and away the best map in the game if it was an outdoor map. The loops in Hawkins are perfectly designed, and it's a shame they didn't copy more of the design onto other maps. The loops, especially pallet placement, on any other map don't even come close to how good Hawkins is.

Not a great Blight map either, but that's another positive.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

    Stranger Things just announced!

Was it announced? I got the Stranger Things intro, but nothing's in the store and Hawkins isn't in the map choices? I'm sure it's 99.9% coming back, but was the intro an oopsie?

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

I can never understand how people feel cheated in this scenario.

You litteraly had to sign to agree that changes can be made at any point when you start playing the game.

You literally didn't have to sign anything. You have to click on a agree button that isn't legally binding.

  • @Mooks said:

No you can’t get a refund.

also. You can play him right now, and the update is not even out for PTB, let alone live - that’s presumably 4 weeks from now. You can play him and this perk and the changes might even not be final. There is also people that argue the change makes the perk stronger.

Anyone arguing it's stronger is someone whose opinion you can safely ignore. It's better in a few limited situations, but it is a major nerf. It's like trying to argue that DH is better now than it was.

Interesting, I thought you pronounced it as a long E but my French is a bit rusty. And it was never that good to begin with.

How can you learn any amount of French and not know the é sound? It's how you conjugate most of the verbs in the past.

The difference is that Ghostface was using a voice changer, while Jigsaw is John Kramer entirely.

A subplot to use AI to replicate John Kramer's voice, when everyone knows it's a copycat killer, everyone knows John Kramer is dead and the killer doesn't even try to pass themselves off as Jigsaw?

It doesn't need to be a subplot. They just need to mention he did it on a computer and it works. Besides, am I wrong, or wasn't Tobin Bell the voice in all the movies even when Hoffman was the killer? They already had the subplot when they decoded the voice to reveal it was Hoffman. Tobin Bell's voice is the best part of at least 6 of the movies.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3574006#Comment_3574006

And the fact that it's a copycat killer. How would he have recorded John Kramer?

They already set him up as a guy who knows how a computer works. That's all it takes in horror movies. Creating an AI replica voice should be trivial in universe. The Scream movies have used Roger Jackson in every movie even though there have been 30 different killers. And as far as I know, Tobin Bell has been the voice in all the other movies even though he's dead for a lot of them.

  • SBMM could absolutely work in DBD. They're just worried, maybe justifiably, that people would stop playing if 5 minute queue times were regular.

The rank system was definitely worse.

  • You're making this sound like an every day problem when it's more like a once a year problem. There are probably 4762 issues that should be looked at before this one.

Also, if someone wants to heal you, just let them heal you.

Spiral isn't bad, it's just a different genre. More of a spin off

It would've been a decent movie if they had just used Tobin Bell for the voice. No reason not to unless he didn't want to do it.

I do not think that's true. Sure maybe he's deluded but he's not a liar.

He does believe his games to be winnable but some of them get sabotaged by Amanda and the rest do not get overseen by him.

Amanda survived the Reverse Bear Trap, Gordon survived the game he was in, Adam could have survived but amanda intentionally misplaced the key for his chain in the bathtub.

He lacks the physicality to be a DBD killer anyways due to his cancer.

So if he was in the game the Entity would have to change his entire philosophy and give him the strength to just ignore his cancer.

So i do not think he fits.

What about everyone else from the first movie? How was the guy with Amanda's key supposed to win? How was the guy who had to crawl through razor wire with an impossible time limit supposed to win? How was the naked candle guy supposed to win when the wall was just covered in every possible number? They asked for no spoilers, but the games in X aren't really winnable either.

The cancer thing also isn't an issue. Amanda also lacks the physicality to be a DBD killer because she's dead. Tapp is also dead so shouldn't be able to participate. The Entity just needs to pick John from the period of his life when he was doing the pig stuff.

    I have no idea!

With them saying it's a big lisence and only a killer with no map, you can try process of elimination.

A lot of folks say predator, maybe it's that, because Arnold would be expensive (I don't know honestly) but it would be sad to miss out on a cool jungle map. Then again we already have a saw map so...

I feel a second saw chapter would be a bit boring though. When I think of a big lisence I think of Jason, Predator or something like that.

I don't want it to be anything though where not having a survivor would be disappointing.

I doubt it has anything to do with Arnold. There are a whole bunch of movies with a whole bunch of potential survivors. Naru would be a great addition. They could also cut Danny Glover another cheque, which would be hilarious, or do the Ripley route and not worry about paying likeness rights.

If they were going to do Arnold, they should just put actual Arnold in the game.

  • @OrangeBear said:

I highly doubt it. I think this is just promotion for Saw X.

I also think John Kramer would never be a killer in DBD anyways because his character just doesn't fit.

The only saw content i see coming is a Mark Hoffman legendary outfit for The Pig.

His character absolutely fits. His motives for his victims are always paper thin, and most of the time the killers aren't technically killing the survivors. I'm going to put you on this hook and you just need to have the will to survive and pull yourself off it is exactly the type of Kramer nonsense from the movies. He basically never puts people in winnable games.

If you don't play the S and A tier killer you are not gonna win anytime soon. That's the meta right now and there is not much you can do about it so either play Pyramid Head and have fun and lose your games or spam the ######### out of Nurse/Blight/Wesker and 4k every game. Your choice.

Um, I haven't seen any tier lists that don't have P-Head as A tier. He's absolutely one of the strongest killers in the game and easy to win with once you figure him out.

He just takes a lot of practice, but once you figure out the timing on his attack and when to put your sword in the ground and when to keep it up, he's one of the most oppressive killers in the game.

You are certainly right and i do this as well. My point is that this game, unfortunately, is already very toxic. Developers really have to work with it and do something to make community better. I used to try (since im streaming as well) and play completely fair killer one year ago for 5 months. Didn't camp, tunnel, let 1 survivor every game alive intentionally. The more killers got nerfed, more toxic community was becoming. Eventually i stopped let go people and began to tunnel sometimes, when it is 4 man squad with voice chat.

My main thought is that developers has led this game to this point, wanted they or not. But this problem is still here and i don't see anything done to fix that.

It's not a DBD problem. It's a people on the internet problem. You put people in a competitive situation and give them anonymity, some of them are going to be toxic. There's not really much that can be done about it unless you feel everyone should be permabanned for the slightest indiscretion.

It's also not nearly as big of a problem as you think it is. Very few people are actually legitimately toxic. They just stick with you more when you run into them.

  • @JackOf4llTrades said:

Guys, my point is that leaving 4 survivors on the floor for 4 minutes when you clearly can hook everyone with no problems has no point except to make them feel bad. Is that behavior which you want to face by yourself or meet against?

I think this is so unhealthy, i cant fit this possibility in my head

I have thousands of hours on survivor and haven't run into this situation once. I don't really think it's worth worrying about. If you feel they're doing something just to make you feel bad, just don't feel bad, and boom, you win. It's just DBD.

When the killer is clearly just wanting to slug you for four minutes, quit that game or go do something else for a minute or two.

  • Unfortunately, this is one of those bugs that affects so few people so it's never going to get fixed. A three year old challenge that was already a little buggy isn't just low on the priority list, it's not on the list at all.

It's more that I got so frustrated with this challenge that I quit playing the game for a month until the event dropped and then started the re-suffering when I came back.

    That doesn't sound healthy.

  • @scoser said:

Almost a month later and this challenge is still garbage and should never be repeated in a future tome.

Do you play more than once a month? How is it even possible to care enough about DBD to do the archives and not be able to escape three times in a month without going down. Do you actively hunt down the killer at the start of every game?

I can concede it's annoying if you're trying to finish it in a day, but a month?

You sound very naive to me. I don't think you understand how majority people play pvp games. Winning is part of the fun, no one likes to lose that why they play the meta. Just because you don't care about winning doesn't mean other feel same way as you. It doesn't matter if it's a super competitive game like CS go or a party game like Mario party, ppl play to win.

If you're only playing Mario Party to win, you're not going to have a very good time.

There's also a massive difference between caring about winning and only caring about winning.

  • @BlueRose said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3566174#Comment_3566174

I competely disagree. Ppl do care a lot about winning in dbd, if they didnt you wouldn't see MFTs, slowdown, BNP, map offering and ect. DBD is pvp game at the end of the day and in pvp games ppl want to win no matter what.

Most people playing PvP games aren't playing to win no matter what. They play to have fun. Running strong perks doesn't mean you care about winning and nothing else. I often run meta perks and I'm almost never playing with the attitude that it's win at all costs.

MFT is a perfect example of a perk that's more fun than it is actually useful. If you have a win at all costs mind-set, there are much, much better perks.

  • @BlueRose said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3565989#Comment_3565989

the problem is that you most likely going to be paired up with ppl who want to play competitively. The problem here is that you as a killer have to throw pretty much if you pair up with survivors who might just want to play the game normally. This is why I say they need two game modes. A normal game mode and an event game mode.

That's not true at all. Most people playing are going to want to engage with the event. Winning means absolutely nothing in DBD and does become kind of monotonous. Most people would take a little disadvantage to change things up.

DBD doesn't have a ranked mode or any way to compare yourself to others. If you care more about winning every game than having fun with a limited event, what are you even doing?

  • It's kind of weird how weak the ghosts are when we got ranged pallet breaking and on demand exposed for the last event.

  • Don't click links in emails.

Thats so fundamentally untrue its not even funny dude, I get swfs and sweat teams daily about 1/3 of my games are either a SWF, P100 squad or just sweaty players, when it comes to high level games it is not killer sided in the slightest.

Don't mean to be mean, but you're not a high-skilled killer then. If you're a good killer player and you're trying to win, you can easily win 90% of your games with any killer.

P100 is pretty meaningless at this point and there are very very few top level SWFs who are actually sweating. Most SWFs are just hanging out.

If the killer's skill is high, a survivor with the corresponding skill will be matched. Therefore, there is no reason why a killer can easily overrun a survivor.

If you enjoy being both a survivor and a killer, it won't be that difficult to become equally good at both.

On top of that, I often memorize the names of the survivors I'm matched with, who are my equals as survivors, but when faced with them as killers, there's often nothing I can do. Of course, they are all solo survivors, not SWF. If I use a nurse, I have a slight advantage, but they also know how to chase nurses, so it's not easy. Above all, there is no waste in the rescue process, and the onhook trade is perfect when necessary.

I have many opportunities to play with them, so I can read what they want to do, but for me, as an M1 killer, they still have an advantage. This is my actual experience of what happens when you compare not the standard of a lazy survivor, but the standard of a survivor who can finish a job and the killer level of a counter-attacker.

That's wrong though. The game is killer-sided and matchmaking doesn't really work at all. You see competent survivor teams maybe a few times a week. Even playing a low-tier M1 like Myers or Trapper, you can still regularly crank out 20-game win streaks if you're playing to win.

  • @Maperson said:

Your skill level doesn’t mean much in this game? It’s very rng and I don’t know if you have felt it, but game limits you, you know what will happen before it happens but you simply can’t do anything to stop it

Almost everything you wrote is wrong. Skill level definitely matters more than anything in DBD. If you see what's going to happen before it happens, you can almost always counterplay it.

Yes, matchmaking needs an overhaul, but for high skill level killers, it just means 95% of your games are against potatoes so you're not really ready for the rare game where the survivors are actually competent.

  • You're definitely not playing chill. Survivors don't enjoy being slugged. There are plenty of reasons to slug stratigically, especially if you're playing Twins, but it sounds like you're being a jerk just to be a jerk.

Playing chill is chasing someone, downing them, hooking them, then moving on to the next survivor.

I mean a lot of the 'experts' with thousands of hours in DBD have been completely wrong in the past, and SM just got a massive redesign, so no, you can't really tell how good she is until people have had a chance to master her new kit.

Can you name one killer from the past two or three years whose power level and potential weren't accurately predicted after a day or two? If you're doing a letter-graded tier list, it's pretty easy to get them in the right letter right away. It takes a little longer to figure out where they belong in that grade, but they rarely move up or down unless they were on the bubble to begin with.

Maybe Sadako since it took a while for her condemn strat to really gain popularity, but the Skull Merchant has nothing like that in her kit.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3560311#Comment_3560311

I'd argue that people who have played the game longer than most are actually at risk of being stuck in their ways and assume they know better than they actually do, resulting in - not necessarily being unable to understand - but unwilling to look at things from different, fresher perspectives.

It's not uncommon; look at jobs where experienced workers often overlook things newer employees find, despite them believing the experience they have gathered over the years should prove them the expert. Happens quite a bit in the care profession.

As with any killer, it takes time to properly assess a killer and to learn new ways to utilise them. Some people feel she's crap, whilst others believe she has untapped potential. Time will tell.

Not really. If you ignore the hyperbolic nonsense like THE SKULL MERCHANT IS DEAD, most knowledgeable players have pretty much nailed how a killer will play on day one. Who was the last killer who significantly moved up or down with people's opinion of their power after the first few days? I can't think of anyone. Skull Merchant isn't like a Blight or Wesker where there is tech to figure out. It's pretty easy to see her potential.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

Why is condemned that high? Grab a tape 1st thing and you can ignore the build up.

Sounds like someone who's only gone against bad Sadakos. Most of the time, there aren't going to be more than one or two TVs powered, and you're going to have to cross the map to deposit that tape.

Wow Yes, I know how regression works. It's still easier to deal with early on in the trial with 7 gens , as opposed to the end when there's 3. Not to mention popping gens simultaneously (or close to) being more effective than one after the other.

You don't seem to understand how regression works. You're still going to need to finish that last gen when there are only three up, but with your plan, you won't have enough survivors to do so. The survivors have a clock. The killer doesn't. Extending the game without doing gens benefits the killer not the survivors.

You seem to think survivors can only do gens in one corner of the map, which isn't the case.

  • @betelgeuseyes said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3560325#Comment_3560325

"The faster the gens get done, the more likely the survivors win." That's a fallacy. Gens can only go so fast.

Also, how does one know which gens are being done in soloQ without wasting time checking all 7 gens? And what do you mean "avoid doubling up on gens until the end? Isn't that what I already was saying? 😆

If you're taking every gen to 60%, it's going to take way longer to finish five gens than if you have multiple survivors finishing different gens, and if the killer is competent at all, they'll be hooking survivors and regressing your 60% gens. If you have 5 gens left and 3 survivors, you're not going to win even if they're all at 80%.

Doubling up on gens means having two survivors on the same gen. You didn't say anything about that. It's also pretty easy to figure out if another survivor is on the same gen as you.

  • @OneGoodBoyDemo said:

The theory is good but there is a small big problem : soloQ.

The theory is awful. The faster the gens get done, the more likely the survivors win. Just pay attention to which gens are getting done to make sure you're not giving them an easy three gen and avoid doubling up on gens until the end. It's a solo queue proof strategy.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

She feels like a revamped killer where people take a bit more than a few hours to get used to and master.

For all the talk of DBD needing hundreds of hours to be good at, it seems crazy to immediately know how a killer is after only a few hours of their power being redesigned.

Let people adjust to her and learn her. She has a fair bit of potential and I can see a few ways she can excel. Certainly way better than the dross of the original power.

While what you're saying is true to an extent, people have figured out DBD by now. For those of us with thousands of hours in the game, it's pretty easy to accurately determine a killer's power level and potential after a few games.

She's one of the better M1 killers and perfectly viable, but still a low tier killer and probably won't be a ton of fun to play as or against. I doubt much of that is going to change.

I reached P100 for a reason and my win streak argument on my post isn't fake.

None of that means he's strong. If you're a 4000-hour killer player, 25+ win streaks are pretty easy with any killer if you're aiming to win. The game is still killer-sided at high levels unless you're against a tryhard SWF, and you almost never see tryhard SWFs at high levels.

Myers is objectively weaker than 99% of the other killers, maybe the worst now with the Trapper buffs.

  • It's not like she was getting played before the changes. I saw her maybe once last month.

You're exactly right. It's funny how a licensed killer outperforms skull merchant in every way possible.

They're not even remotely comparable. She's fine as she is now. Killers don't need to be S tier to be viable.

She's a decent M1 killer who you can't really loop.

  • You're ignoring the numerous downsides that balance the perk. There's a timer on it and kicking gens puts most killers at a disadvantage. The number of games you actually get great value out of Pop is much smaller than you'd think.

  • He's really not unless you're choosing the map.

  • It really becomes a problem when the killer is trying to win. It's impossible to solo unhook against any killer running it. If it was allowed in comp, it would be used in 100% of games.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 9
