I didn't exclude it if that was what you were wondering. I didn't edit to delete the path, I just didn't comment on it and left it visible. Other starters were included to show how easy or less difficult those were (even if still time consuming with the 3 normal Killer wins). If anything, including it would help my point because of how much easier it is, so it would show the extreme difficulty difference in a different starter would be even more absurd.
Also with the 'saving for later', the 3 Unbroken Iri tome is on the 'most efficient' banking BP path, so it isn't a side path. Since its path touches the bottom right, you would have to burn a big and a small (on the far right to reach the Survivor Big in the bottom right) going with the memory, or 2 smalls going down the bottom.
So do you actually have a point? If there are multiple other options that are all easier, why does it matter where it is? It's completely skippable.

The problem is this is a starter choice, not a side of a fork. I made this image to show how easy the other starter choices are, and better spots for a never go down challenge.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/CUZBEYOV1JCW/16dash4.png
The other thing is if you go against a skilled enough Killer, the team needs the theoretical 8 safe hooks instead of the 6 safe hooks the 3 remaining people can give. This requires rolling into a baby Killer and ratting to the extreme.
I might be willing to concede that it was anything more than a minor annoyance if there wasn't the braindead easy memory challenge and BP challenge that puts you in the exact same spot. Why aren't you considering the memory challenge as a starting choice? If you're saving BP for later, Tough Stuff is a side path.
If those weren't there, sure, maybe put it somewhere else, but it's extremely easy to bypass it.
-
Gamers really need to stop being entitled babies. Any challenge that is even remotely a challenge is immediately met with incessant whining. There isn't a single thing wrong with this challenge. It's not required to progress. Just throw it on after you've done the easy challenges and you'll get it fairly quickly just playing normally.
It actually improves your chance of your team winning because being the stay-on-gen guy while someone is hooked helps the team immensely.

Nah, there is more that works.
See posts above.
Nothing was posted above except fake window vaults, which only work against new killers, and use turrets, which are mostly useless unless you're on a sweaty coordinated SWF.

A majority of survivor mains on this forum can't handle any killer higher than c tier lol
I'm a killer main and have yet to lose as Xeno. All the changes I mentioned would be minor tweaks and keep Xeno in A-tier.

Fun fact: Huntress can spam her power faster. Especially with addons. Yet no one complains or finds her overwhelming OP.
I mean, seriously. In the thread before this, someone complained about encountering wesker 5 times in a row. Alien hasn´t even been out for a week. Yet people ask for nerfs before anyone can even learn to play as or against Alien. Its almost like people don´t want more viable killers. But prefer to have the next push over killer, in order to complain about the 3 meta killers ad nauseum.
So far there are no "watch me get xxx streak kills on Alien" or "with this combo, Alien is unstoppable" video from the content creators. Mayyyybe the tail attack isn´t as uncountable as people claim.
Just give people time to adapt. Or do you see Complaints about Sadako? Remember the killer that got a rework and everyone predicted that she would be the most unstoppable killer? Since some even called her a S-Tier killer?
A good Huntress is overwhelming and OP, but she has actual drawbacks. She's 4.4, there are visual and audio cues for the hatchets so they're potentially easier to avoid, she has to wind up a hatchet, which slows her down even more, she can run out of hatchets and has to leave chase to get more, and you can duck under a hatchet.
Window baiting and turrets aren't going to work against Xeno unless you're in a coordinated SWF. We've had years now to learn on semi ranged killers to just wait until the vault animation starts.
The only thing that works against Xeno is to get as much distance as you can, hope they follow you across the map, and hope your teammates are slamming gens.

I will delete the post if you tell me where is the skill behind that? If you drop the pallete you get hit if you dont drop the pallete and dont have perfect reaction time to his highspeed tail attack you get hit. and maybeeee he misses, you have to pre drop the pallete after that you have to play around it, vaulting is impossible cause its like dropping pallets a Guaranteed hit and if you dont vault he can only m1 you. Is that skill? if pyramid head misses a attack you gain crossmap distance and against him you are stuck until you get down.
sry my bad english hopefully you can understand this
You need to aim the whip and that takes more skill than a lot of killer players have, especially on console.

Faking windows works really well and as said: give it a few days
That only works against bad killers. We've been playing with Nemesis, Pyramid Head, Huntress, Deathslinger, Wesker, and Demogorgan for long enough now to know when the vault animation starts, and most people run with items to make it even easier. We don't need a few days to learn that there's not really a counterplay to the tail whip besides distance and stealth. In a few days, more killer players are going to get more comfortable with Xenomorph and it'll be worse.
-
Xenomorph is definitely overturned at the moment, but it should be pretty easy to put them in a good place. Increase the slowdown after a tail whiff, make the turrets more effective, increase the cooldown to get back into runner mode, and they'll be fine. A visual or sound queue when the whip is coming would also be nice.

Most people who say this absolutely do not want to face that level of coordination or have the game balanced around that level of play. You should be ok with playing against survivors playing with that level of coordination on a consistent basis if you're ok with a mechanic being balanced around it. And even if that is the case, no game of DbD should push beyond the 20 minute mark.
It doesn't take some ungodly level of coordination to break a three gen if you still have four survivors. It's pretty straight forward for any high-level solo queue survivor except in the most extreme cases. There are so many tools they've given us to help. Deja Vu is big, BNP change is big, being able to see what your teammates are doing was also a massive buff people ignore. 99% of the time, a three gen at the end of the game is avoidable or manageable.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I see a lot "just be proactive and break the 3 gen" takes. This works in low level play or when the killer isn't actively trying to 3 gen.
But it's opposite of how you would attack a 3 gen in high level play when the killer is playing for a hard 3 gen and won't leave it. You need to clear out all the other gens to give yourself space to W away from the 3 gen without friendly fire. And you need all 4 survivors patiently picking away at it. You're not going to break a hard 3 gen because one survivor has Deja Vu. You're talking about a completely different scenario.
High level surviors should have no problem if the killer is defending a 3 gen from the start. Except in the most extreme circumstances, it's pretty easy to finish the last gen if you still have four survivors left. It's a low level problem.

How many posts does BHVR need to see before they actually do something about this issue? It has been going on since KNIGHT. How many months ago was that???
And if you guys have the audacity to say 'just play out the match, just break it' you haven't tried playing that in SoloQ. Nor do you understand how LONG it can actually take to do that, and for what? To maybe finish 1 match after 40+ minutes? Some people have lives and aren't glued to their PC's/consoles, and do not want to spend so long on 1 game with little to no BP gain. For the love of god fix it.
They already did do something about it. Look what Deja Vu does now. Deja Vu is one of the best solo queue perks there is and you'll always get value. The BNP change is also great if you're really worried about it. What more do they need to do?
-
She's still 100% dependent on her iri addon, but at least it's an enjoyable game for both sides when she uses it. You need to be good enough to get hits as an M1 killer with her, but if you can, she's almost a free win since most people haven't really figured out her changes yet.

If bhvr were looking to attract new players then this is the opposite of what they should be doing, simple killer should be strong enough that they can carry them into the higher MMR where they will eventually get kicked back down again strictly because of their lack of skill.
Instead all of the current simple killer crop just leads new players to getting bored frustrated and quitting because they can't win a single match because of how hilariously outdated some of them are compared to the modern survivor meta
That's exactly what the simple killers are. Killers like Trapper and Wraith are absolutely viable at high MMR and both of them do a great job of teaching you the basics of the game. I play at high MMR and have no problem getting 4ks with either of them. If you learn how to chase with Wraith, you'll be able to win with anyone. The problem is that new players immediately look up tier lists and never actually learn how to chase as an M1 killer. Until you get to the competitive level, every killer is viable.
The only change The Trapper really needs is always being able to start with all your traps.
-
There is no winning and losing in DBD. They don't define a win and they don't track wins and losses. Why would you consider a 3k a win if someone still escapes? Perks and add-ons also dramatically change the game, so unless you're playing every game with comp rules, wins and losses are meaningless. Did you get a 2k and have a fun time doing so? That's a win. Did you get a 2k and have a miserable time, that's a loss.
-
When you say "not exaggerating" do you actually mean, "Here's an enormous hyperbolic exaggeration..."
I'm gonna guess you've only been playing DBD for a month or so if these changes rank anywhere close to the worst thing they've done. You're lucky you missed when they released the Knight and then the Skull Merchant just a few months later. You might have had an aneurysm when they announced the healing changes in one of the more recent PTBs. And those three things are all in the past year. It would blow your mind to learn about some of the other things they've done in the past.
-
What was the point of the first paragraph?
-
You wrote a whole lot but don't seem to understand the biggest advantage you get. It's not just a distance thing. If you're a good survivor, the 3% haste is a massive boost in strong loops. It really hurts Huntress in high level play where you already had to run loops almost perfectly to get a hit.
-
Just run Flip-Flop, Boil Over, Tenacity, and Unbreakable. Wait for them to down someone and body block when they pick up. If it doesn't work the first time and you try and do it again, most killers will figure out what's going on and let you wiggle out. I know talking to people is never fun, but you can also communicate in the lobby and get someone to run breakout to help you out.
I thought it was actually kind of nice to have a couple of challenges that required a bit of effort since they've been mostly braindead challenges for the past few tomes.
-
Relax, dude. Unless there's a specific challenge someone is trying to do, it makes absolutely zero difference to anything if a killer does or does not give someone hatch. The game's over. People are just trying to be friendly.

What killer players are winning 90% of their matches? Please, introduce us to these god-levels players so we can learn their secrets of success.
Pro streamers who play 16 hours/day don’t count. I’m talking about the average player who plays a few times a week
I do. I'm far from a god level player, and I play 4-5 games a night.
-
It kind of sounds like you just need to get better at the video game. Unless your at the extreme end of the skill level, the matchmaking works more often than it doesn't.
We also live in a world of hyperbole where people will have good matches nine games in a row and then get matched with someone way out of their league in the tenth, and that tenth game is the only thing that influences their opinion.
-
You mean why is the Internet the Internet?
-
It's kind of both. The game is still fairly killer sided, but that's only when both sides are good at the game. It's a lot easier to be a good survivor than a good killer, but once you actually become a good killer, you win at least 90% of your games. And no, it doesn't matter what killer you use.
-
It's not. It's the fictional character Nick Cage from the Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
-
The game's actually in the healthiest state it's ever been in. They just need to tighten up the matchmaking a bit. Camping happens far less often when the killer feels they're in a match they have a chance to win.

I don't.
I want the Devs to show us what is optional gameplay in solo queue. That's the reason I want to see Devs play. Settling the "get good" argument would be a by-product.
Again, if you want to learn how to play solo queue, watch Twitch. Go on YouTube. There are loads of content creators whose skill set is much more attuned to explaining things to people. People making things aren't always the best at explaining that knowledge to laypeople.
Learn how to loop, learn how to pay attention to what the killer and your teammates are doing, and slam gens. That's pretty much all there is to it.
-
@Wilx said:

The Devs do play the game though, they've talked about it before. I don't think it's too much to ask for them to show us the most optimal way to play solo. It would also settle a lot of "get good" and "it's a skill issue" arguments.
Why do you need to watch the devs play to settle your arguments? Twitch is filled with survivor players playing solo who are escaping most of their games. Watch any of them and you can learn how to play.
-
It's a 7 year old game and there's nothing else like it. It's not a shooter. It's not a fighting game. There aren't any skills that transfer from other games. DOTA and LOL are the only games that are somewhat comparable trying to get into as a new player in 2023 and they're both much much worse than DBD.

So answer the original question then. Is this blight with 1k wins a problem? If so, how is it any different than Hens and his survivor team? If you think this blight is a problem, then those survivor teams must also be a problem right? If not, you are biased.
Did you mean to respond to someone else? I've repeatedly said it's not a problem and that the game is in a pretty good place balance wise.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3411528#Comment_3411528
But when those 0.01% of players play with us regulars, it isn't fair, because the game is balanced in a way that is unfair. If this is the case then these people should not be allowed to play in regular queue without these same restrictions they place on tournaments.
Additionally, nobody has commented on what i said. Which is, why can't we nerf the insanely ridiculous god loops that can spawn on certain maps? Low level survivors aren't using those loops at the level that high level survivors can, so nerfing those loops won't hurt them, because they cant use the loops that way anyway. All it does is hurt the high level survivors. Can we at least agree on that?
Who cares?
If you're in the high MMR bracket, maybe you'll get matched with a comp player/team playing with a comp mindset a couple times a year. You can deal with that.
Comp players aren't queuing with a comp mindset because it's just as unfun for them as it is for you.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3411268#Comment_3411268
"When using tournament rules"
And therein lies the problem. In order for the game to be balanced tournaments have to institute rules outside of the actual game, like restrictions on items/addons/kits etc. Meanwhile, nothing is stopping a tournament playing from entering the standard queue and ruining the game for everyone else.
It's not a problem though. 99.9% of players aren't playing the game with a comp mindset. The tournament rules are aimed at a tournament setting and make the game significantly less fun to play.
DBD is actually in a pretty good place balance wide. It's an impossible task to balance an asymmetrical game with over 30 different killers. A competent team of survivors versus a competent killer of a similar skill level will usually lead to en enjoyable game. The two biggest problems are that matchmaking is setup to get you in a game as soon as possible and only kind of trying to match you with players of a similar skill level and that a lot of survivor players don't know what they should be doing in the game. Way too many survivors play with the mentality that as soon as someone is hooked, the best course of action is to stop doing gens and rush to the hook, even when that's what the other three are doing as well.
-
@SeaFlower said:

Blight isn’t a problem though. And yeah, you probably won’t get 1000 wins in a row with Trapper even if you have the world’s best players pilot them. But you’ll still get an unbelievably high amount of wins in a row regardless. Different killers have different potential strengths, that’s not a bad thing.
If you have comp killers trying to win every game, they absolutely have a great shot of getting to 1000 with Trapper.
Unless they're getting stream sniped, there's almost zero chance of ever going against a team that's close to their level. Even streamers like OTZ or Tofu could probably get to 1000 wins if they were playing every game to win no matter what, and they're nowhere near the skill level of the comp killers.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3409841#Comment_3409841
My opinion is quite simple.
If the devs want this to be a competitive game where esports potentially is a thing, tournaments, ranking systems that matter etc. Then obviously you need to balance around the best of the best players.
If the devs want this game to be a casual "goof around with friends a bit" party game, then you balance around average players.
The biggest problem is DBD seems like it does neither. They obviously don't balance around top level players or 1k win streaks would never be possible. And they don't balance around the "goof around with your friends" because there is so much toxic ######### that you can do in this game "AS BOTH SIDES" that make the game super unfun for other people. Additionally, often times, the most effective way to WIN the game, is to actually play in the least fun way possible. If this was a party game, they would figure out what is fun and double down on that.
I personally am biased towards the top of the top players for several reasons:
- If the game is not balanced around the capabilities of the highest level players, then the high level players will bully the low level players (even with matchmaking) and eventually the game will die off.
- If the game is unbalanced at the highest level, there is nothing to strive for, and the game will eventually die off. It may take a long time, but it will happen. Imagine if chess was balanced in way that, at the lowest levels of play, the game is balanced 50/50, but at the highest level, white wins 70% of the games. Do you think chess would be as big of a deal today still?
- The top players are able to push the game to the limits, and often times beyond. Allowing you to see what is possible, making it actually easier to make balance decisions with them in mind.
That isn't to say that you completely IGNORE the low level players. But i say, you balance FOR and AROUND the high level players, while keeping in mind low level players exist. I think this video sums it up very well IMO when talking about TF2 and the" BASE JUMPER" item:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1p42KtZOCw&t=203s
The whole video is a good watch, but the timestamped bit shows exactly what i'm talking about.
For example, in DBD:
- Look at some of the crazy, jungle gym, into crazy main building with multiple god pallets and god windows, into killer shack, into another jungle gym, loops that good survivors can use to waste several minutes of a killers time, meanwhile the rest of their team is doing all the gens. It is so bad on some maps that you literally just don't chase survivors around entire sections of a map because doing so would mean you automatically lose.
- But now look at low level players, they predrop god pallets, wasting them, then get hit through them anyway.
- What if we nerfed those god loops and crazy main buildings? Is that going to actually hurt low level players? Not really, because they aren't abusing those structures to their fullest potential anyway.
The types of changes they keep making are things that actually hurt low level players, or buff top tier survivors like the healing changes, when there are obviously plenty of things they can do to make the game more fair for all skill levels. Camping is another thing they could address. It really only works against low level and solo queue survivors because they can't communicate and deal with it. But the SWF kill squads don't really care. So why not remove camping as a strategy because you are only going to be helping low level players, and you won't really be hurting top tier killers because they aren't getting much use out of it anyway.
The game is actually decently balanced at high-level tournament play when using tournament rules. What people are missing is that this isn't just some Twitch streamer. Momo is on competitive player and one of the best killers in the world. His win streak was against normies. Any killer player in Momo's skill tier could probably get a 1000-game win streak with pretty much any killer if they were playing every game to win. The win streak doesn't really point to the game being unbalanced as much as it does that the matchmaking isn't great to begin with and isn't going to work at all for someone that's so far above the player base skill-wise.
Also, competitive survivors rarely queue in public games as a foursome with the intent of doing everything they can to win. If you're a comp killer, the chances of getting matched into a game with survivors that will put up a fight is basically zero.
If Ja Morant randomly went from random court to random court challenging whoever to a game of 1 on 1, he could probably win 1000 in a row too.

This is even more true for survivors. Killers have a low skill floor, survivors have a high skill ceiling.
Definitely not true. Both roles have a pretty low skill floor. The main issue is most low level survivors have no idea what they should be doing. The number of games I've seen where zero survivors are doing gens for most of the game is absurd. If they could somehow get all survivors to figure out that at least one survivor should be doing a gen at all times, the game would improve immensely.
The skill required to be a half-decent survivor really amounts to not missing skill checks, being on a gen as much as possible, and holding w when you hear the terror radius.
It's also a seven-year-old game. The numbers they still have are actually incredible. The Steam Charts line has stayed mostly steady for pretty much the entire time.

You probably missed the point. Of course there are complainers from both sides, but from killer side it ten times more, like "OMG, I was killing everyone and got to top MMR, now they dare to wipe floor with me, nerf survivors". Maybe I'm so lucky, but I constantly see complaints how hard killer life is.
I intentionally don't mix it with camping/tunneling threads, because it's just unhealthy exploit to game design in general, not one side.
But the MAIN THING is that in my fantasy land, I almost never lose as the killer and almost always as survivor. Fact is fact, that's why crying about killer hardship is something like flat-earth or santa-claus to me.
Of course, I cannot say what would happen if magically camping and tunneling (killer experience wouldn't change, but as survivor there could be major increase in victories), but for today, I have what I have. And 8 hooks (probably 8 stages) at 5 gens is very frequent scenario.
While I agree that the game is killer-sided, there's a 0 percent chance that 8 hooks at 5 gens is a frequent scenario unless you're starting a new account every day or you play Nurse and you count people disconnecting after your first blink as 3 hooks.
-
Some weird choices here. Definitely don't agree that Billy has the highest skill ceiling in the game. I don't think Oni's all that difficult either. The only thing difficult about Plague is trying to figure out the lag every game, but that's not a skill thing. Spirit should also be in the highest tier.
-
Stop worrying about wins and losses. Try and put yourself in the position where you're the one getting chased every game and work on getting better at that. It's the best part of being a survivor so once you become competent at looping, you'll find you can enjoy most games even if you don't win them all. As an added bonus, you'll start escaping way more often as you get better.
-
If most of your games are like that, I'm guessing you mostly play with friends?
If you love the game, take some initiative and try to coach them a bit on how to improve.
-
It's the answer to what? It probably would've been pretty effective with their original plans to change healing, but those changes didn't go live. You can't autodidact yourself, so.....
Also, the reason that Autodidact CAN be so strong is because of the randomness. It can single-handedly win you some games, but can also be a pretty major hindrance. If the skill checks weren't random, they'd have to turn the numbers way, way down.
You're saying you don't want it buffed, but you want the randomness removed, fewer tokens required, and increase the heal percentage by 30%?
It's fine the way it is and can be a fun perk to use. Hopefully, more people start using it.

This is so false and everyone who plays killer knows it. 4K is easy against potato solo queue and that’s it. Competent solo queues will give you a tough match and competent SWF will destroy you.
How do I know this? I play survivor about 50% of the time (solo queue). I would consider myself an OK survivor. my solo queue teams do not all die in 90% of my matches, not even close. So if my not-great solo queue teams can win let’s say 30-40% of our matches, how in the hell are killers getting 4K across ALL matches 90% of the time? The answer is simple - they aren’t
There's a pretty important qualifier that you're ignoring. Good killers. Most people playing killer aren't good and would rather complain on the forums than look at a loss and try to learn from it.
Look at any bigish streamer. They can take any killer, any build, go out of their way to not tunnel, barely pay attention, and get a 4K almost every game.
Obviously, most people aren't playing DBD for a job, but it's still something to strive for. If you stop complaining and actually try and get better, you'll reach that level soon than you'd think.

Anyone playing Killer, who has good skills, should be able to pick ANY killer, equip ANY 4 perks (vs 17 survivor perks (BT basekit) plus potentially an additional 4 items & 8 addons) and get 2 kills every single time against GOOD survivors. Login, play killer, play well, and “win” with a 2K every time. 0K and 4K should be rare outliers.
If you're a good killer, it's really easy to 4K in 90% of your games with any killer. If you're a Twins main and any good, it's even easier. Stop blaming the game and focus on improving. The current balance is pretty heavy on the killer side except at the absolute highest levels.

"They'll ride S-tier killers until their MMR is too high for them to play anything else."
Every killer has it's own mmr. You can have a low MMR with Trapper and on the other site massive high MMR with Nurse. Both is possible.
That's not entirely accurate. You still have an overall MMR that affects matchmaking. If you have a massive high MMR with Nurse, your MMR with Trapper will still be fairly high. Your highest MMR killer raises the floor. And with how low the soft cap is, you're probably going to be in the same bracket.

It's an impossible-to-fix problem. Mostly because the community is just going to complain about everything. If you're good at killer, meaning you actually understand how to play the tiles and apply pressure properly, you're going to get a 4k 90% of the time. It doesn't matter if you play the weakest killer with no perks, you're going to win the majority of your games without the need to tunnel or camp.
A big problem is that killers don't want to learn the game. They'll ride S-tier killers until their MMR is too high for them to play anything else. It's also easier to camp than learn how to path properly, so they just stick to camping. In its current form, the game is heavily killer sided except when you're matched up with an extremely competent team, and that rarely happens.
How are they supposed to balance that? If they make it any easier for killers, you're going to lose a ton of killer mains to boredom. It's already an issue. Take your lumps and learn the game. Spend a month playing only Trapper or Oni or someone like that, don't camp, don't tunnel, and you'll get way better at the game.

Number of disconnects would be a good solution.
I only dropped one because my connection didn't come back all night, lol
That's the way it is now, but it starts at a minute, which isn't even a deterrent.

How do you distinguish between "intentional" disconnects, and technical problems?
Last night, I was playing with Dwight trying to escape solo for the Daily (for like the 5th time, don't ask), when my IP went down for maintenance. I was pissed, because I finally had a chance at getting out (2 gens left and all 4 still alive).
How much should I be punished because Spectrum shut me down mid-match? We were winning.
I agree there are obvious disconnects when you are playing (usually during Mori), but how does the game recognize them vs. the player just dropping signal?
It should start at 5 or even 10 minutes and then go up drastically from there. If it's a legitimate issue, 5 minutes isn't a big deal and gives you time to diagnose what happened. Even if it's a legitimate issue, if you're disconnecting from 3+ games in a night, you need at least an hour-long ban because you're still ruining games for everyone else.

The lore seems neat, but he also sounds incredibly boring to play. What does he actually do besides slowly slowing down one survivor?
Also, it doesn't understand what perks are. It gave you some add-ons instead of perks.
