  • This is the case with every game that's been going for years. Try playing DOTA or LOL as a new player. You'll have a great time. Same with Overwatch, Seige, Hearthstone, et cetera. DBD is beyond the point where a new player can join and have fun without the Everest-sized learning curve to catch up with everyone else, but it's not a DBD problem. No one else has figured it out. It's a little more severe with DBD only because there aren't any skills from other games that carry over.

And who cares if 8 of the last 10 Sadako games have been against a lame strategy? Those 10 games were probably over the course of the past six months.

  • @SantaKlawz1 said:

My code already expired. Like haha here's a pitiful amount of bloodpoints but you need to grab right now. Didn't get it? TFB.

You tried to redeem last month's code.

  • It's really not that hard. There are a ton of ways to stun the killer. Flashlight saves count. Wiggling counts. DS counts. Bring a flashlight and any combination of DS, Head On, Boil Over, Flip Flop, Blast Mine, Power Struggle, and Any Means Necessary, and it'll be hard not to stun the killer four times in a match.

  • The biggest problem with the game is they don't seem to factor in most of the killers when they design a map. Garden of Joy is the newest map and is borderline unplayable for most of the killers. It's not a skill issue. If you're playing in high MMR and are against survivors that are roughly your skill level, the only way to win with someone like Nemesis is to hope for an early down and then hard tunnel them out of the game and hope they don't blast through three gens while you're doing that.

  • They're not disabled. They're not just needed at the moment because the numbers are balanced.

  • Why did you post such a long video? Do you not know how to make a clip?

You can't drop the pallet on yourself, so it moves you to the side you were closer to. You were closer to the killer's side so it moved you there.

  • Get better at hitting great skill checks. Keep at it.

  • Sadako is definitely not the weakest. People just don't know how to use her. If you know what you're doing and are going for condemned kills, you're pretty much unbeatable unless you're going against comp teams. To be fair, it's a completely different way to play DBD. A lot of the success is from survivors not knowing how to play against her, so it's a little tough to know how high she should go, but she's definitely in the top half of killers.

  • What's the point of asking this? You're never going to get an answer, and even if you did, the number would be meaningless to you without understanding all their other financials. Is $5000 a lot? $50000? $500000? Who knows?

I also don't that there should be more licensed killers. The mix they have now is good. Almost all of the most fun killers to play are their original creations and it lets them be more creative.

  • Killers usually tunnel someone if they don't think they're very good. Get better at escaping and looping and you won't be tunnelled anymore.

Once you get better at looping, you'll welcome tunnelling. Playing the chase is way more fun than sitting at a generator for 90 seconds.

I want honest answers here. This game has become utter ######### lately, solo que is ASS, and so are the killers as 10 matches in a row were face camping, slugging, slowdown perks out the wazoo. I honestly want to know why people play this game. Are you bored, and have nothing else going on that you play this game cause you hate yourself? Do you tell yourself after raging that you won't come back but still do and live like this every week playing this game?

Maybe things would change if people would stop giving BHVR money but the average consumer is too stupid nowadays. Some of you that continue to ######### about this game and still play it and give them money need a reality check cause you must hate your life if you continue to invest in this game. If this is you, you are the reason this game has a toxic community, and you are the reason your life is void of joy so you think this game will bring you happiness but you get mad when you die, say you will never return but still do. Too bad the community won't do anything to change things and all of you will continue to cry and hate yourself. If this is you, find another game, take a break, and do other things. There's other games to play, some of you make this game your life and you really shouldn't have.

(I am not attacking anyone but this community is confusing as hell and if people think the game design is #########, then why give them more money and your time when you know they really don't care what you think?)

The biggest issue you have is assuming you know what the community thinks. Twitter and forums exist in 2022 for people to complain and be toxic and only represent a tiny fraction of the people actually playing the game. Everyone I talk to thinks the game is in the best spot it's been in a long time and most of the games are fun these days.

People will whine nonstop on Twitter and the forums if they get camped a couple times. People rarely whine on Twitter and the forums after a bunch of great games in a row.

Solo queue is also fine when you rank up enough to consistently get paired with people that at least know the basics of the game. The biggest problem is they've effectively created an elo hell in DBD since it's quite a bit harder to carry yourself out of low MMR after the last patch.

lol chill, they said "this is the single largest reduction to grind we’ve ever made, cutting it by roughly 75%." and it's just a lie, grind is worse for me

You didn't read their statement and picked one line out of context. The 75% reduction refers to the time it'll take you to unlock everything on everyone when they release a new chapter of content.

  • @Xord said:

The problem is, having a character Prestige 100 is currently mandatory as it's the only way to get back to infinite lvl 50 bloodwebs.

At least Prestige 3 was very optional.

They've already addressed this as an issue and are going to change the early bloodwebs so there are more rare addons.

  • That's the whole point. They don't want you to be done. If you want to play Dwight and only Dwight, you'll always have numbers going up. If you like playing other survivors, numbers will still go up. There's no reason to level anyone to level 100 let alone everyone.

  • Autodidact is definitely not trash tier, at least at tier 3. The RNG of it can be frustrating sometimes, but more often than not, you get good value from it.

Distortion is god-tier in SWF, but not really all that useful in solo queue unless your only goal is to hide.

Not to be disrespectful, but your comment just tells me that you didn't read any of my earlier comments. I'm not replying to any further comments under this thread because I truly don't think that most of you took the time to read why I DCed. Some people seem to get it and I'm not a fan of matches where someone DC's but context does matter.

I just finished a match where Pig couldn't hook me because of my build. So he stood over me while my boon was active and repeatedly hit me. I ended up not escaping because by the time I got away, the helmet activated and I couldn't get it off. Now, I could have DCed because two of the three Survivors decided to just leave. The other one died trying to help me. It was end-game and as annoyed as I was, this situation didn't warrant a DC.

You're ignoring everyone who read your comment and you're just choosing to be dense. You're clearly a sore loser when you're saying things like you DC just to deny the killer the final hook.

If there was no penalty, every other game will have someone with your mindset who just DCs because they were hooked first.

  • @Tsulan said:

Thank you so much for doing the math on this!

The last time I tried to argue how this won't be a reduction, I died fighting alone on that hill.

The math says it'll be a reduction.

  • @Slowpeach said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3036368#Comment_3036368

Yeah but those are the very people you want to reduce the grind for. Those that are already invested are more likely to put up with the status quo. Ideally you should reduce it for both, but yeah especially now with the '50k' before you can do anything AND losing huge blood webs and higher item rarity. Lolololololol.

They've increased the grind. Losing BBQ and WGLF is a 100% or lets say 50% loss of bloodpoints on average for only an 18% less grind which only matters at the very end. I think most rational people agree that sure perks shouldn't be attached to bloodpoint gain but there's no way in hell this magic 75% number is anything other then fairy tales and looking through rose coloured glasses that distort the image to whatever you want.

Who wants to bet that 75% will become the new meme to make fun of things they do. 'Oh but don't worry guys it's 75% less pain in magical Christmas land'.

They didn't say it's a 75% reduction to the entire grind. They said it's a 75% reduction in the time it takes to unlock everything on everyone when a new chapter comes out. The math checks out.

It's not as relevant now but I still only have tier 3 BBQ on a couple killers. Now, if there's a perk I want on everyone, it's really easy to set that goal and actually see progress towards it.

  • The thing you're ignoring is that DBD is an old ass game and the vast vast majority of players have been playing for a while. There aren't very many brand new players in 2022. So yeah, starting from zero might only be an 18% reduction, but for the overwhelming majority of players who've already put in some work on the grid, it's a massive reduction and almost makes unlocking everything an attainable goal.

I do agree though that the 50k prestige fee is a little silly.

You're also ignoring the context of the 75% reduction. The 75% was going from playing 4 hours a day to an hour a day to unlock everything in a patch.

  • There are lots of things that it doesn't count as an escape for.

The survivor adept challenges are also so easy to get, it's not really an issue.

BHVR claims to have 2 million daily players. It'd be very embarrassing if those challenges don't get completed.

I wouldn't say it's embarrassing. I'd guess less than half of the players even look at the challenges. It's probably their attempt to get more people clicking on tomes. Hopefully, they'll adjust the numbers when it's clear it isn't working.

1.5 million bloodpoints to level a character from 1 to 50.

I'm curious what will happen with licensed killers who are prestige 3...im not sure if they'll be able to give an exclusive cosmetic for license characters.

Its a lot cheaper to prestige than to get all the perks, but having all the perks on a character will help that character once the new system is in effect because of a catch-up system, but will not even offer a chance for the exclusive reward for prestige.

(4.5million bp for p3 level 1) I would suggest choosing your favorite characters and trying to put all you're bloodpoints into them.

Were Gonna Live Forever on survivor and Barbeque and Chili on killer if you want to get 64k a match instead of 32k.

I am personally hoping they give tokens of some sort and we can choose outfits or its a piece per prestige.

They specifically said it won't be a cosmetic.

  • It's really easy to rank up. Play well and play a lot. That's it. Your teammates don't matter. The killer doesn't matter. You're the only constant in every game, so if you play enough, you'll end up at the MMR you belong at.

It also helps if you stop worrying about it and just play to have fun. You're going to rank up no matter what as you get better.

  • People get mad when things change.

  • If you're playing Pig properly, you're ignoring survivors with hats on. You're not using hats to kill, and your shouldn't be wasting time chasing them. The hats are the best slowdown mechanic in the game, and they got better.

  • Um, Pig got buffed. Learn some math, bruv.

  • You have a long time to finish the rift. It's really not too bad if you're a regular player. You need to play more than once a week, but if you play a game or two a day and focus on challenges, you'll get it done with time to spare.

As a gay man yourself, you should be familiar with the term "coming out". Hiding the fact that your gay has been much more common than being out for far too long. That's why things like David being gay and people noting the Jeopardy Queen is a lesbian are important.

  • @Devilishly_Rowdy said:

I wonder why survivors have to wait 20 mins to find a killer. Maybe it has something to do with killers being treated like ######### by the survivors and by the devs? But yeah lets just punish killers even more, that'll fix stuff right?

What? Queue times are fine if you play during normal hours. Queue times are longer at night because you need four survivors and one killer for every match. There are far fewer people playing.

  • Sorry, but your build is garbage. You're worried about using Ruin because decent survivors know where totems are, but you're using Lullaby, Lightborn, and Tinkerer? Lullaby might be the worst killer perk in the game. Good survivors don't miss skill checks no matter how hard you make them, plus it needs to ramp up, plus it's a hex. It's only for memes. Go all out and use 4 skill check perks or don't any of them. Lightborn is hardly ever going to give you value, especially on a doctor. Learn how to play around flashlights and bring a useful perk. Infectious Fright gives you way more information and also makes flashlight saves almost impossible. Tinkerer isn't completely useless but it's also not great. As Doctor, you don't need to run tracking perks. Maybe you'll catch someone off guard once, but good survivors will realize immediately you're running Tinkerer and there are plenty of maps where it's difficult to sneak up on a gen.

Um, what? You completely missed the point. If he gets a 30 kill streak or not is completely irrelevant. He was using one of the weakest killers in the game and still won 15 games in a row, yet people still bring it up as an example of the game being survivor-sided.

If he cared enough to burn offerings, then yeah, he had a 99% chance of winning. How does that make an argument that killers are underpowered exactly?

It really just drives the point home even more coming from him. Not a great sign when the dude that's kept his sanity through borderline impossible no hit runs on soulsbourne games, he goes and plays Sadako and is eventually like "######### this, this killer is too frustrating to play"

The soulsbourne games were extremely punishing but ultimately with a degree of fairness to them. Playing killer anymore just feels straight up punishing

Or you could, you know, look at what he's talking about in context. He was trying to win 30 games in row. He wasn't losing every game. He was losing every 15th game. Sadako is also desperately in need of some love, but she's also a free win if you get an indoor map. Sure, there are some frustrating games every now and then as a killer, but if you're matched with survivors of your skill level, you're going to win far more than you lose.

There's no way you just win most of your games at high MMR playing random builds with random killers playing in a non sweaty manner. Once you're in that upper MMR bracket you play significantly more SWF & teams constantly running meta perks game after game.

I don't doubt that you play that way, but let's not pretend you just win most of your games doing random builds with weak killers.

And how does mastering your M1 game make survivors suddenly less toxic? You could literally play Deathslinger with zero perks and land 12+ metre shots all game & still be called toxic if you win. Becoming proficient at M1 gameplay doesn't magically cure how toxic the game can be for killers.

I'm not saying I use random builds. I'm just not using the same maximized builds every time. You can absolutely use non-meta builds with non-meta killers and win at high MMR, and you'll probably have more fun. You don't even have to believe me. Just look at any of the streamers people have heard of before. They're in the upper echelons of MMR, win with any killer and any build, and divide their attention between the game and their chat. That proves that it's a skill and attitude issue. Stop worrying so much about winning and losing and try and use every loss to get better. Learning anything is frustrating.

It's the internet. People are going to be asshats no matter what. Ignore the toxic people in chat. Most people are friendly and will react in a friendly manner if you initiate the conversation. You have to grow thicker skin if you want to interact with people online.

Becoming proficient at M1 gets rid of the in-game toxicity. Most players won't try toxic stuff when they know it means they're going to die. If they outplay you and want to teabag you at the exit gates, who cares? They earned it. You're also more likely to be in the MMR you're supposed to be at if you're not abusing op killers to get there.

  • Playing killer is great. The number one thing getting in your way is you seem to be unable to admit you need to improve and you just want to blame everyone else.

I play at high MMR. I never play sweaty. I try out different builds. I use most killers. I have fun with survivors that want to have fun. I still win most of my games.

The number one thing you need to do is stop worrying about winning and losing and what the survivors are doing to trigger you. If you lose, try and figure out what you can do to play better. You're making a ton of mistakes in your games. The first thing you should do is stick to a standard M1 killer until you learn to win with them. The games becomes so much more fun when you're not relying on the crutches that come from using an op killer and it becomes almost impossible for survivors to be toxic and trigger you once you've mastered the basic M1 gameplay.

  • You don't seem to understand why DH is such a problem so you can't really comment on it.

  • The whole premise of your tier list is flawed. If you're against survivors that are less skilled than you, you're going to win with whoever you pick. None of the killers are useless, some of them just take more work. Some take a lot more work. If you're against survivors who aren't as good as you, you can win without even using your power with any standard speed killer.

Trapper and Clown are definitely not useless. They just require more work and game knowledge than some of the powerful killers. That's the main problem with the majority of killer complaints I see. People just look at tier lists and stick to the high-tier killers and never bother to learn the ins and outs of the game.

Maybe add-on for ghostface are really good?

5 seconds is a massive amount of time. It's going to be borderline broken for Ghostfaces who know how to be sneaky and a pretty good crutch for bad Ghostfaces.

"You must go out of your way to avoid people" is not good design. FFS, the minimum improvement needed is "chat is not open by default".

The majority of the chat interactions are positive, especially if you initiate them. There are always going to be dicks anonymously sitting behind their computer screens who are going to be jerks. You can't design around them since no communication at all is not fun for anyone. If you want to play any game online, you need to learn to ignore them or mute everyone. It's just the world we live in.

Having people be jerks in-game is much more preferable to having them message you on whatever platform you're on.

  • @Erd69 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2771718#Comment_2771718

It favors killers? Well that's not gonna make me better. I literally said the survivors did fast gens, I downed them quickly, got many hooks, they used dead hard and there's nothing I could do about and you still say I lost because it's my fault? Wow...

Well, you can always refuse to improve, but you probably won't have a ton of fun that way. If you were downing them quickly and got many hooks, there's no way they could've finished the gens all that fast. I've played ten games since the patch went live, and the only survivors went through the hatch, but yeah, keep blaming everyone else. You should probably find a different game with that attitude.

  • Are you aware that the survivors are being controlled by actual people?

  • @Erd69 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2771632#Comment_2771632

"Hook them before the sabo" wow thanks for the tip OH WAIT it doesn't work. Why? Because the survivor is faster and will sabo the hook before I make it. I slug? Well the person who sabos hooks will run away. I pick up? They wiggle faster cuz I dropped. Nothing you can do about it. Even worse if they have breakout.

It just sounds like you need more practice and time in the game. Take a walk, cool down, and figure out how you can play better instead of just blaming everyone else. If you put the time in, the game definitely favours killers right now. I'm certain that the majority of the games you lose are your fault.

  • @RainehDaze said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2771577#Comment_2771577

    That's not an excuse.

It's open by default, and if your game has a chat people are being jerks in, then that's a problem. Being able to optionally then not look at it doesn't make the people misbehaving any better.

Every game that has chat has people being jerks in it. It's not a Behaviour thing, it's not a DBD, it's a societal thing. Killers need to grow some thicker skin. DBD is still balanced in favour of killers. Instead of worrying about what they think after a game that you enjoyed, move on to the next game and figure out what you can do to get better. When I see a group of survivors dicking around and trying to play with me, I know it's going to be an easy 4k. Learn what to do when a team is trying to toy with you and you'll find you don't get toyed with anymore.

  • I'm not really sure what your point is. Killers who are complaining are just bad at the game and want to vent. I play killer and something extremely special needs to happen to not get 3 kills in a game. I don't even think I'm that good at the game, but killers just have an extreme advantage is just about every situation once you understand all the mechanics of the game. It's not at all difficult to play killer, and I love it when a group is actually coordinated enough to have multiple people escape.

  • Maybe the game just isn't for you. Playing killer is infinitely more fun than survivor. You probably just don't understand the role.

  • It's pretty easy to come up with 50+ perks that are more useful in every situation than the few times Blood Warden works. Use what's fun for you, that's the game, but there's no scenario where Blood Warden is anywhere near a build that's trying to be sweaty.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9
