I was even less patient than you. I've given up on the tome challenges and any potential daily involving him.

I'd rather play Trapper against a SWAT SWF.

I second that. If I was just playing man-with-machete Trapper, I could still get downs a lot faster (with one quarter the effort) compared to when I'm playing the meatball

  • Definitely not just you. Imo on console, Meatball is one of the most uniquely frustrating killers to play, regardless of how strong he might be. I gave him 6 or 7 rounds on release and now I hate him enough that I'm just skipping all his tome challenges

  • It kind of feels like he's as hard to play as nurse/blight/billy, without being near as strong, while also being twice as frustrating to play

  • @Crowman said:

The slowdown is for being too close to a hook. But I think so the power punishments for being too close to a hook are largely unnecessary and are more frustrating when you aren't trying to camp.

Ah, thanks, I couldn't figure it out. I was going out of my way to not camp but I guess I hadn't walked far enough away from the hook

  • Just wanted to confirm - today with Cenobite on PS5, I did:

    - Set the loadout with the 3 perks in alphabetical order

    - Got a 4K WITH a double pip

Still no achievement/trophy. So perk order does not actually seem to matter

  • 4k with clown using his perks, didn't get the trophy. Do DC's not count as a kill? If so, that really should be changed. It just allows survivors to dc when downed on death hook to screw over achievements. Recipe for toxicity

  • I wish Billy would get a boatload of quality of life changes, but lethal pursuer + barbeque & chili is still absolutely bonkers on him. You can have a survivor downed within the first 10 seconds of the match. Even more effective if you're running drift king steering add-ons

Takes a whole lot of practice to use him well but he can still insta-down on command once you're good with him

  • Just did trapper adept on PS5 (4k merciless killer with only their perks), trophy/achievement did not pop for me either. PSN tag is musstang62

  • For the good of all survivor players, and all the past hillbilly mains, please resurrect Billy's cold, lifeless body. I beg you BHVR

Or just do the lazy thing and make him pre-rework Billy but prevent charge add-ons from stacking

  • I will usually only dodge when someone uses a map offering, since that can sometimes be like bringing a gun to a fistfight. And by dodge, I mean "Oh no... my game crashed while loading in. What a shame I won't get to play on eyrie of crows..."

  • I second that. No good reason not revert the most unpopular killer rework they've ever done

  • There are roughly a dozen killers that can get better results than Billy with less effort right now. Billy would be back in A-tier where he belongs if BHVR would:

    • Remove overheat
    • Restore FOV
    • Restore animations
    • Fix wonky collision hitboxes
    • Bring back basic charge add-ons, but remove their ability to stack (for all practical intents and purposes, limiting their use to offsetting the downside of an engraving add-on). No bringing back old carburetor tuning guide, just the yellow and brown charge add-ons. If that's too much, then just reduce their efficacy instead of removing them entirely

No one in their right mind has ever complained that a curve Billy took no skill to play. Even if Billy was unmurdered with all of these buffs, he'd still not be cracking the top 5 in the killer roster anymore, and he'd still arguably be the most fun killer to verse. Survivors are facing nurse and blight all day anymore when they could be facing billy instead

  • I hate DH so much that I'd almost be in favor of small buffs to all 3 other perks listed here if it meant nerfing DH

I've seen people also saying spirit and onryo's passive phasing affects epilepsy, if they were to ever remove those even though it's not huge it would still be a nerf to those killers, like I said before though I could care less about macros sure it's fun to troll but it doesn't have any value outside of that and there are plenty of other ways

That's true, wouldn't be a huge nerf but it would still be a nerf. I think that's where we're in agreement - when accessibility starts to have an impact on the outcome of a match, most people are not going to be on board with those changes. When the accessibility changes have zero impact on the match outcome, most will be on board with them

Still, there are options available to satisfy everyone. Let's say passive phasing was removed for those killers. BHVR could just give them both minor buffs to compensate. And for anyone that visually liked the passive phasing - here's where just giving the players the option to turn it on/off visually would come into play

  • @The_Krapper said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2948579#Comment_2948579

I also said that I could care less if they removed them, and you know nothing about me so I could really care less what you think I'm not a kid either I'm in my 40s I've been through plenty of ups and downs in my time, but playing a game like this one when you have epilepsy is like smoking while you're on oxygen, my whole point is there are plenty of other triggers in this game for someone like that and even if you removed it what's next? What else do we have to accommodate for and visually change because this can of worms get opened? If they took macros out tomorrow I wouldn't care a bit

I think that's where we're in disagreement - the examples you've used of eating a lot of sugar while diabetic, dairy while lactose intolerant, smoking while on oxygen etc. Those are pretty much 99% of the time guaranteed to end in catastrophe. The risk level for someone epileptic playing a game like this seems to be orders of magnitude lower, although absolutely a non-zero risk for sure. The point the OP seemed to be making was that they could play the game fine (and have in the past) without this one element being present

I don't think the slippery slope argument really applies here, but just for the sake of argument, let's say it does. BHVR could just add custom options for the player - this way, no one loses out on anything. If someone wants to flashlight macro, they can, and the epileptic player can just put on a setting so that the flashlight doesn't flash visually on their screen. If someone is colorblind, they can put on the colorblind settings (obviously, already done). If someone can't rotate the thumbstick or doesn't want to ######### up their controller, they can use the toggle button wiggle option (also already done). There are simple accessibility options that BHVR could make which would infringe upon no one and would benefit everyone that has disabilities. So I don't think there would be any cause for concern that small changes like this would be the start of a slippery slope wherein the game would end up only in black and white, only with toned down sound or controls etc.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2947708#Comment_2947708

Theres like a million different things in this game that could be harmful to someone with epilepsy, not trying to sound like an ass but BHVR should put a warning on their game and then those people probably shouldn't play it because there are alot of triggers like they have to DC everytime it's a Doctor as killer, they can't ever play Doctor, any time someone uses a firecracker or flashbang or blast mine they are at risk and certain maps are a risk, truth is you probably shouldn't play the game if you're epileptic and if you do then you should understand what's possible

I get where you're coming from but the gist I was getting from that post was:

    - Person regularly plays DBD, and they're normally fine so long as flashlight macros aren't present. Does make sense that Doctor would be a problem but that makes it an issue with 1/27th of the game, rather than an issue with 100% of the game, so it seems like that's very feasible to work around and much more within the realm of their control. Poster was not asking for Doctor to be deleted or changed, probably because that they can work around that to a better degree

    - So to reiterate, the problem is not that DBD is giving the poster seizures, it's that macro flashlight clicking within the game is giving them seizures

    - As Seanzu pointed out, there are generic video game epilepsy warnings, the same that are present for nearly every game. Mostly just CYA legal stuff, similar to how a restaurant menu says "eating uncooked meat could make you sick." Doesn't make you an idiot if you get food poisoning after eating their food - you knew there was a small risk of that happening, and you ate there anyway. We take small risks every day in our lives because otherwise, we'd be living in bunkers never going outside. The poster appears to have a very low risk of having seizures while playing the game, if flashlight macros were not present

You, yourself, are also taking a risk by playing this game. As the warning states, people with no history of epilepsy could have a seizure from playing the game. The risk is very very low though, and you've accepted that, so you play the game anyways

    @The_Krapper said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2948063#Comment_2948063

If there's a warning then I don't feel sorry for these people and I don't care who says I'm an ass for it, if you're diabetic you shouldnt eat alot of sugary stuff, if you're lactose you shouldn't have dairy products...etc.. people can hate me all they want for it but this person deserves to have seizures if they ignore the warning that's given to them there are plenty of things to cause seizures in this game and even if they fixed the macro you still would have this problem with other parts of the game, the people most adamant about getting it fixed are more than likely cry babies who get bullied with them in match and they just use this as an excuse to shame the devs because there's always an excuse with these people for them to get their way.

Kid, I hope that whenever you make a huge mistake in your life, you're still shown a basic degree of empathy, the kind you seem to be completely lacking in your posts

Again - the OP did not say DBD was giving them seizures, they said flashlight macros within the game were giving them seizures. Is your argument that flashlight macros are such a core component of the game that it's worth keeping them, even if that means preventing some players from playing the game and/or giving some players seizures?

  • The amount of people on that reddit post calling the poster an idiot for trying to play a game... I really do ######### hate this community sometimes

Not a single good reason for the flashlight macros to be a thing. If there are colorblind accessibility options, then this should be removed to provide more accessibility

Preventing someone from having a seizure is more important than preventing some 4-man blendette squad from boo-hooing that they can't bully the killer as well anymore

  • I really wish they were earned based on performance rather than purely based on time. Doing AFK Wraith earns you as much progress towards iri shards as a 12 hook game

  • Honestly, I would kind of love for NOED to be deleted just so BHVR could have their precious stats be more accurate, then make changes accordingly. Kill rates would probably drop to the ball park of 35-45% for the majority of killers, then they could buff killers in general as needed

Dead hard getting nerfed into the ground would be a win win for everyone. Killers don't have as miserable a time, survivors can have queues shorter than 10 minutes

  • I don't do it every time but lightborn is kind of hilarious whenever there are 2+ flashlights and survivors are really trying to use them

  • I had a tough time deciding between Artist and PH but I do think Artist takes the cake here. If the PH is not good or great (and if you have good reflexes), you can still loop them. If an Artist is halfway decent, there's a 99% chance you are gunna die if you attempt to loop

    • Twins change - Twins were too powerful at high MMR, so Victor now explodes on successful hit
    • Legion nerfed for some reason
    • CoH bonus reduced from 50% to 25%
    • The reason for the earlier visual overlay changes is so survivors can ping generic messages to each other. BHVR says soon. Changes make it to the game 9 months later
    • More breakable walls and pallets added to several maps
    • Monstrous shrine buffed from 9% sacrifice progression to 12%. Along with the other 80% of non-meta perks, it remains borderline useless and unused indefinitely
    • Clown purple bottles now also slow him down if he runs into gas
    • Nurse addon buffed to allow for 4 blinks
  • @Shaped said:

Ph because I don't have to hit people 3 times with the anti loop.

This. Nemmy's early game is absolutely atrocious. Every time I switch from Nemmy to PH, the match feels so much easier

That's not even mentioning the wonky tentacle hitboxes when it comes to windows

  • I may not have picked the right answer but my dream changes would be:

    • Revert the FOV and animation changes
    • Remove overheat
    • Delete all new add-ons with the exception of lopro chains
    • Change the old charge speed add-ons so that they do NOT stack, or alternatively, so that they only work in conjunction with an engraving. Tone down carburetor tuning guide

That would all require BHVR admitting that they made a mistake with the Billy rework, though. Doubt we'll ever see any of this happen

  • Dying? Probably not. Hemorrhaging players? Absolutely. Game has been pretty consistently growing since 2017, with the decline of the past 9 months being unprecedented in the game's history

There's no proof (or seemingly any good reason) that the numbers from other platforms would be varying greatly from the steam numbers. Everyone used to point to steam charts as signs that the game was growing whenever it would hit a peak

To be fair, BHVR seems to have said that Victor (to them) is just a Killer Power, no different then a Huntress Hatchet. Hatchets never change. At least a year ago they seemed really clear they you do NOT call him a baby and you will NEVER get to dress him up~

Im disappointed with teaser pic of new outfit. Maybe I’ll like what I see later but this doesn’t look good to me, or fitting for the Lore. Maybe the Tome will recap some lost Lore when she was a ships captain LMAO. I wish they would help Twins, they are in such a sad place but have a very interesting Lore story.

Was just about to say this - Victor seems to technically just be a tool at Charlotte's disposal (like hillbilly's chainsaw or wraith's bell) and so no skins. Huge missed opportunity... Victor could have had the best mascot outfits of all

That was my impression too hahaha is this skin gunna have charlotte with a hook hand and peg leg? Tome lore about charlotte and victor's struggles with scurvy while sailing the seas

  • NA, never saw any hackers for the longest time, then started seeing a lot of them last year. Have reported at least 5-10, have probably seen another 20 or so that were either very subtle or appeared very suspect. I probably played 100-200 hours last year. Didn't see any in my time before that

Have only played about 10 matches since October, so I couldn't comment on how common they are now

All I saw was "wah wah can't get 50 wins in a row anymore, game is SOUL CRUSHING" I only won 16 games in a row, and got a 2k the one I "lost".

Dude can cry me a river lmao

Hah! I don't remember tears over the win streak. Moreso that the experience was miserably frustrating

Or you could, you know, look at what he's talking about in context. He was trying to win 30 games in row. He wasn't losing every game. He was losing every 15th game. Sadako is also desperately in need of some love, but she's also a free win if you get an indoor map. Sure, there are some frustrating games every now and then as a killer, but if you're matched with survivors of your skill level, you're going to win far more than you lose.

With a low tier killer like Sadako? 1,000% disagree with that statement. If you are as skilled as the survivors you go up against, you lose every time. Excluding the holy trinity, only way you win is by being more skilled than they are, and that goes double for lower tier killers

For instance, I enjoy playing Clown every now and then, but holy #########, if you are going up against even halfway decent survivors, you are gunna have a bad time no matter what you do. Mastery of the killer means next to nothing

That's the point I was attempting to make - playing much of the killer roster feels incredibly frustrating right now

  • @Valik said:

I think a lot of people here are missing the point.

In Otzdarva's latest video - he talks about his time playing Saduko.

He was so miserable and felt so helpless that he said that he may look into 'different kinds of content' in the future.

That's how soul crushing playing killer is.

It really just drives the point home even more coming from him. Not a great sign when the dude that's kept his sanity through borderline impossible no hit runs on soulsbourne games, he goes and plays Sadako and is eventually like "######### this, this killer is too frustrating to play"

The soulsbourne games were extremely punishing but ultimately with a degree of fairness to them. Playing killer anymore just feels straight up punishing

  • I don't think it's completely braindead, but the amount of benefit you get for how little skill it takes... it's absolutely absurd. That goes double when it's used solely for distance. It just becomes an "I WIN" button

  • @StarLost said:

    I totally disagree.

SB is a better perk in that it's well designed, has decision making and counterplay attached.

I'd never describe it as better than DH, unless you're facing an instadown killer.

SB gives you a nice boost, but you need to maintain it - with the tradeoff being that you can't run. I'm totally fine with SB as is.

    DH is obnoxious.

100% Agree. One other thing I'd like to add about DH that doesn't get mentioned much

SB usually wastes a few seconds of a killer's time (killer starts chase, then ends it after seeing the survivor zoom away). DH can easily waste an extra 30+ seconds when used properly mid-chase. Particularly brutal when it's used in the first chase, because it all but guarantees that 3 gens are gunna pop if the survivors are efficient

  • It still gives a far superior version of self-care to every survivor on the team with the use of a single perk slot instead of 4. This nerf basically adds 3 seconds for self-caring in the boon radius, if I'm understanding correctly

The infinite use and teamwide self-care ability are the problematic parts

  • I was so tempted to say Clown because his rework was painfully underwhelming, but Myers could really use some big adjustments. I love the core of his power but there's a lot that could be done to make that more fun and effective

  • @burt0r said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2872082#Comment_2872082

    Yep that's the correct way.

But isn't a correct representation sadly. Steam player only make up a fraction of all players at a given time in DBD.

All consoles together seem to heavily outnumber steam alone. Also from what I remember before crossplay was a.rhunf is that on console killer already was the minority role. We had many queue time threads coming from console which wasn/isn't surprising in a game were one side gets controller friendly thirds person and the other first person without any helpful form of aiming correction (the aimdressing behaviour has implemented over all us more detriment than aid).

Therefore we don't really now the numbers at all times and the 750 survivors in queue might get way more increase than the 60 killer and the overall ratio between the 800 queue and 45000 trial player might also shift in one way or another.

Like i originally said, when the queue ratio of killer and survivor is 1:10 (10%) and the ratio in trial is always 1:4 (20%), then the true value lies somewhere in between depending and the real ratio of player in queue and in trial, in your example 800 to 45000, so roughly 1:56 leading to the 0,2% difference from 20% to 19,8%.

And again it is incredibly hard to really determine anything quantifiable since the number of player always fluctuates because trial end and start nonstop and even moreso survivor that did first/second might directly leave the trial and inflate the number of survivor in queue even more.

Let's stop here, i think we are turning in circles.

Yes, you are correct that the 10% aren't correct but also are wrong that it's the nice 20%. It remains a fact that survivor are stuck in queues between 5 and 15/20 minutes during prime time (8pm-1am) and therefore the killer percentage is absolutely not the perfect 20% but we can't defenitly say how much lower. It still depends on the difference between the number of all player in trial and all players in queue to define the correct deviation from the perfect 20%, which was my original point.

    @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2872571#Comment_2872571

And my original point was the article being quoted here is misleading and a lot of people are just posting snapshots of the lobby numbers and saying ridiculous things assuming those are the actual ratios of players when they're not.

Great points you've both been raising. Just wanted to add here as well - I think even the 20% numbers may be oversimplified just for steam alone. From the article, it looks like all of these numbers are only coming from the NA East servers - not the entirety of DBD's servers. I'm assuming steam is showing global server numbers (not sure about that) but either way, the queue numbers shown here would only be a fraction of the overall steam playerbase. Not sure how many other servers there are but assuming the numbers are fairly consistent across the other servers, the killer population is probably well under 20%. All that said, without having some numbers about how many people are also in game right alongside the queue numbers, it's hard to extract any useful conclusion about killer population

Now if we were just looking at the average queue times, the article raised a good point. If we're looking at peak hours, assuming killer queues take 5 seconds and survivor queues take 250, then the killer to survivor population ratio is 1:50 (below 2% killer population). That seems way too low and is also an overly simplified calculation (doesn't take MMR into account at all, SWF etc. etc.), but it's still thought provoking

I agree with the point you ended on - we can't definitively say how much lower the killer population is compared to the survivor population with this information alone. It seems realistic to me that the actual killer population is hovering somewhere between 5-15% of players on average during peak hours. That sounds a bit worse than it actually is, since if queue times were perfectly balanced, the killer population would still only be 20% (which would roughly translate to perfectly equal queue times for both roles). It's unclear if the "estimated wait times" numbers in the article are survivor only, or if they're an average of killer AND survivor. So again, all these numbers need to be taken with a pile of salt but they do seem to indicate that there is a dearth of killer players right now.

Also seems reasonable to assume that if there are more survivors in queue than killers at any given point in time (for instance, during night and peak hours), then the killer population is below 20% of the total playing at that time. If there are more killers than survivors in queue (during morning/day hours), then the killer population is above 20% at that time. I think we can pretty safely make those conclusions, at the very least

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

BBQ and WGLF. Basically unplayable without these.

Came here to say this. I'm not about to play the game for half the BP when the grind is the way it is. I only have 3 perk slots available because these are always on

  • I don't dodge claudettes in general but if some claudette shows up in the invisible brown shirt + pants combo, I'm not playing against that. Literally impossible to track them during a 360 on console

  • Sorry, we need enduring and calm spirit to show up another 30 times before any new perks

But for real, it's kind of random and deferential to older perks. Could show up next week. Could show up in 2 years. No rhyme or reason beyond them waiting at least 3-6 months after release before a perk shows up in the rotation

  • Hahaha oh boy, can't wait to buy half a bloodweb with this BP windfall

  • Part of the reason Dying Light sucks right now is that the effect isn't that strong, and it's a "win more" perk that doesn't really help you out much. I'd like it to do something like this:

    • Much much heavier stacks in the beginning. For the first hook of the first survivor, 12% slowdown. First hook of 2nd survivor, an additional 10% (total of 22%). First hook of 3rd, an additional 8% (total of 30%). First hook of 4th, 6% (totaling 36% for one hooking each survivor), and then any subsequent hooks are an additional 1%
    • The downside is that once any survivor dies, the perk can no longer gain stacks. For instance, if the first survivor gets hooked and camped to death, the slowdown from the perk stays at a fixed 12%. So depending how spread out hook states are, Dying Light would have anywhere from 12-41% slowdown (12% for 1-hooking/camping first survivor to death, 41% would be for first survivor dying at 9 hooks). This all would allow the perk to start providing benefit much sooner AND would incentivize killers to spread the damage rather than tunneling/camping. If BHVR wants to encourage "fair" killer play, this would be a great means of doing that
    • I agree with the other posts about removing the obsession bonus speed to healing and unhooking. No reason for that anymore
  • Don't know that I agree. 4 dead hards buy waaaaay more time than 1 corrupt intervention does. Dead hard can be used 3+ times/survivor/match, and dead hard for distance has no counter

Also, dead hard is just inherently much more frustrating. Corrupt would be the same level of frustrating if it didn't proc at all until a gen was at 99%, then blocked it for 30 seconds. For every. Single. Gen. THAT would make survivors feel as miserable as killers do when dead hard is in play

  • I think the VHS beta did this for their equivalent of archive challenges (can check task progress by looking at pause screen). Seems like such a no-brainer feature that even with BHVR's glacial pace of adding updates, I'm still pretty surprised they've not added that yet after 10 tomes

  • A while ago, I would've said Trapper or Myers but it seems like Legion takes the cake now. Clown's bottom 5 easily but the fact that he still has a decent chase power makes him better than those 3, imo

  • He's kind of the opposite of Nurse. Stomps at low MMR, gets stomped at high MMR. He's like a weaker Clown in chase that has solid passive slowdown to compensate. Unfortunately, since the stats show him as an unstoppable god due to the low MMR #########, only changes he's going to get are nerfs. All hail the stats

  • I wanted to say dead hard but I feel like that perk is salvageable with some tweaks. NOED could use some tweaks too

CoH just needs to be nuked from high orbit

    So what me setting up a poll and asking people (maybe what 20-50 people at tops will reply) is more accurate than the steam data? OK so let's have an honest discussion;

    1) You're right in that Steam isn't the be all and end all; it's only one platform therefore doesn't give a full 100% accurate representation of the playerbase in it's entirety. However it is fair to say it's a reasonable sample size (I don't know what % of the entire playerbase are steam but I think we can all agree it is a big enough sample size to give us at least an indication of the game.

    2) From the Steam data available, on July 2021 the average playerbase was 62,487. On February 2022 it was 36,207. Steam doesn't represent the playerbase in it's entirety but can we all not agree that is one heck of a steep decline??? A decline of 42.05% of the steam playerbase. Thats not to say the there are a total of 42.05% less people playing DBD but surely anyone can agree its pretty telling.

    3) This data isn't assumption it's accurate. As stated above I'm not saying that this is the DBD playerbase in its entirety and we don't know the exact % of the playerbase that is on steam but surely this portrays an accurate representation of the state of the game? The steam data shows a steep decline, I will make the assumption that this playerbase on steam is a large enough sample size to portray accuracy therefore based on the available data I will therefore make the conclusion that DBD is in it's current state in decline

Thank you, I thought I was losing my mind reading some of these comments. 100% agreed. This does not require a PhD in mathematics to understand. Couple points I wanted to piggyback onto your post:

1.) If someone thinks that steam player numbers are going to vary significantly from other platforms, they need to provide a reason for that discrepancy. Obviously it's not going to be a 1 to 1 comparison but in the absence of a good reason, it's very fair to assume that it'll be pretty damn close to a 1 to 1 comparison. If anyone disagrees - please explain why steam numbers would vary dramatically from other platforms

3.) The counterargument to this sounds like an "agnostic" argument. Since the steam numbers aren't 100% accurate, they are completely untrustworthy, and because we can't have a perfect 100% accurate study, we will therefore never know if the player numbers are dropping or not.

A 42% drop is huge. Even if the steam numbers weren't very accurate (let's say in the range of +/- 15%, which they are almost assuredly NOT that inaccurate), that would still indicate a very large drop off in the playerbase. Does anyone REALLY believe that the steam numbers are off by +/- 50%? That would be an absolutely ludricrous claim to make without evidence

  • Alright - is the game dying? Probably not

Is the game in great shape right now? Hell no

Objectively - DBD's peak playerbase was around Nemmy launch. Average player count has steadily dropped by 45% since then. That is a MASSIVE drop. Almost half the playerbase left the game and it doesn't appear to be slowing down

  • I have nothing of value to add, just wanted to say that I too am curious to know how Nurse feels to play after the latest update

    1. Too difficult to make shots on goal with the breakable walls blocking the hockey net
    2. Probably hoping this one would fly under the radar

Joking aside, I have no idea. Those maps have to have some of the lowest kill rates, so if this was an intentional decision, I don't think it was driven by stats

Edit: Sounds like it is an unintentional bug

Well. Good thing is there is no cosmetic set that’s available for $100 or anything near that. And even though cosmetics are way too expensive in general for my likings, they are very much optional and not completely overpriced. And i would rather see it this way than character including killerpowers and perks being locked behind higher paywalls. And there are many great choices in most cases (licenses being obviously exceptions) besides linked sets anyways.

they also already acknowledged the grievances and will review original sets. It’s taking some time but well.. everything with this company takes damn long time, and in this case it’s not really that bad as it’s still optional cosmetics that you don’t have to buy.

btw, I don’t like (original) sets as well. So haven’t bought any and don’t intend to. I like some of the single pieces for survs etc, but eh. It’s almost like complaining that this one kind of pants i really like but it’s only available for one character and i would rather see it on my main. But well, it’s not available (even though in many cases it wouldn’t even be that much effort to get it done). [and I hope I haven’t given that part of the community a new idea to unreasonably attack BHVR about]

All true points, I agree. I guess my main beef with BHVR there is that some of the cosmetics practices feel borderline predatory to me personally. I have seen free mobile games wherein cosmetics were easier to earn/less expensive to buy, so the linked sets just really rub me the wrong way, as it feels like a further extension of that design mentality

Anyways, thanks for the civil conversation (seems like a rare thing on the DBD forums). Hope you have a great day

🤷‍♂️ We don’t know when it happens. But you were asking why BHVR can’t and I gave your the answer that they probably can and will at some point do but only for specific cases

then the community is obviously happy with the sets if they are buying them? Why would they go out of their way and change them or even not create them in the first place when there are people who like them? If you don’t like them then great. Don’t buy them. They are just optional cosmetics.

actually. All cosmetics kinda exist because they are a way for BHVR to get money. The game itself exists because it gives BHVR money. What’s so bad about it? That’s pretty normal…

There's a lot to unpack there. I don't think the community in general is happy with linked cosmetic sets - this thread alone is airing some of that. If some people buy a $100 cosmetic, that doesn't mean that the cosmetic is fairly priced or that the community at large is happy with it. Just means that those with poor impulse control caved in and bought it

BHVR would go out of their way to make linked sets because then they can force people to pay $15 for a full set instead of $5 for 1/3 of a set. That's pretty much all there is to it

Yep. I don't like it and I won't buy it. And in a thread where people are airing grievances about the linked sets, I will chime in to say that I also don't like them

Yep, agreed - cosmetics are a way for BHVR to make money. I'm not making the argument that BHVR shouldn't charge money for cosmetics, I'm making the argument that they should be more consumer friendly with them. Again, there's a big difference between having individual cosmetic pieces that can be bought for $1 each and can be mixed and matched, versus fixed sets that must be bought for $100. Both of those would make BHVR money - the difference is in how consumer friendly one option is, and how consumer unfriendly the other is
