I think that is just a band-aid fix to a mediocre problem. The problem here is people blocking killers they don't want to play against which in the end really is not a huge issue, and during that time it could still be impactful in a bad way.
I mean I've noticed a major difference between the survivors that I get matched with (most of the time) and the survivors that I get matched with when I play as Killer. It's day and night and the difference is noticeable.
-
Personally, it's always nice to know that I have reliable help so I accept anyone that really excelled in teamwork.

Either take a break from the game, or stop dcing bc you don't like how the match is going, if you want out if the match, then just get the killers attention and point to a hook
Not to be disrespectful, but your comment just tells me that you didn't read any of my earlier comments. I'm not replying to any further comments under this thread because I truly don't think that most of you took the time to read why I DCed. Some people seem to get it and I'm not a fan of matches where someone DC's but context does matter.
I just finished a match where Pig couldn't hook me because of my build. So he stood over me while my boon was active and repeatedly hit me. I ended up not escaping because by the time I got away, the helmet activated and I couldn't get it off. Now, I could have DCed because two of the three Survivors decided to just leave. The other one died trying to help me. It was end-game and as annoyed as I was, this situation didn't warrant a DC.

DCing at the beginning of the match is worse than DCing in the middle of the match. You are the exact kind of person the DC penalty was made for.
Oh okay so what you're saying is that I should stay when I pretty much didn't leave the vicinity of the hook, gens aren't being worked on, and two minutes of my time was pretty much wasted? I'd rather be in another match at that point.

A camping bubba + Noed is the most iconic dbd duo
I've seen more Bubba's with NOED than Wraiths and Wraith/Noed are practically married
Meh I used to run it alot. Insidious and Bubba's "Broken" add-on tends to make short work of Survivors. I sometimes find myself laughing if I check a TTV's playback and they don't understand what "Broken" is or why they can't heal.
-
As a Killer and Survivor, I 100% LOVE the RPD. As a long-time Resident Evil fan, I memorized the map long ago. It's not difficult but you do need to learn how to navigate.

It's not healthy for the game imo, there's no skill to it. Camping as most other killers does take skill despite what some people believe, you can't secure kills in this manner as someone like Wraith or Sadako. At least the other instadown killers you can either trade or wait out their powers
I see bad Bubba players still get an average of 2k purely by camping one dude then killing someone with NOED. "Just do totems" but the counterplay to camping is doing gens so...
Yeah.
Something should be changed, people who want to camp, will camp - no amount of incentives will change that.
Bubba and Myers are the only two that I rarely ever use NOED with. Infinite EW3 Myers is an insta-down and Bubba can easily take down more than one Survivor. In a sense, NOED is similar to a crutch for some players. I've seen Killers take NOED, Devour Hope, etc. all in one match and sometimes it's just going a bit too far to secure kills... hey to each their own but just remember that Soul Guard exists and I've been utilizing it with my Survivors.

Again, bad matches will happen. If you're going to die early, then just do it. There's no benefit to DCing compared to dying early.
This entire thread exists solely to yell out "I'm angry and petty and want no consequences for it"
I agree and in this case, it's possible the Killer was farming with the Survivor because in both cases, the Killer ignored the dude unhooking me but kept hitting me. DCing was more about not letting the Killer have the final hook.
-
While I agree that SoloQ sucks (trust me, I feel your pain) I regularly camp with my Insidious Bubba and Insidious Infinite EW3 Myers. Depending on the Survivors, I sometimes lighten up a bit and resort to proxying (sometimes even leaving) the area. I camp more if someone is being "Clicky-Clicky" as a way of saying, "Yeah you're on hook and I'm in your face. What, can't click anymore? Mhm."

No, no context. I would call DCing in response to tunneling beinng a sore loser.
You and I are going to agree to disagree at this point. Context matters. Some matches just suck from the get-go. DCing mid-match is one thing. DCing because the match has barely gone on for two minutes and you somehow had the luck to be in situations like this are entirely different.

Really? Your definition of "Sore Loser" and mine seem to be completely different. I'm starting to think that none of you read my comment about SWF's DCing mid match... THAT is being a sore loser.

No need to explain. If you’ll look in the mirror you’ll see why the DC penalty exists.
No need for the sass. In fact, you didn't read my comments. I said it wasn't as though I DCed after being outplayed like some SWF's do. In a case like this it's about poor matchmaking and getting the short end of the stick.
-
@Yords said:

People would use that to only play with weaker killers, or end up messing with the matchmaking.
They could add a 6 month block or something like that. Something that resets every now and again.
-
@Crowman said:
If you are dying do quickly you don't need to d/c.
The point of DCing at that point is because there is no point to remain if you've barely moved from the area. It's not like I was a sore loser in a SWF that DCed after getting outplayed.
-
@Huge_Bush said:
nah, it’s seems like it’s working as intended. Should be more punishing.
You'll need to explain that. Sorry, but I'm not providing satisfaction to anyone by remaining in the match at that point, two minutes or not.
-
I agree. I suggested that they at least fix the Block function. Essentially, both Block and Report are worthless... all it does is block the individual from messaging you on that specific name. A more efficient use of Block would be if the function prevented you from being matched with that person again.
-
I agree. My MMR seems to be bouncing all over the place. I noticed 128 and all of a sudden it went as low as 30. It's always a joy when I meet Survivors that do their best to work together but lately it's just the opposite (UNLESS I happen to be playing Killer).

You just got outplayed
Not necessarily. Anyone with half of a brain can take a loss... It becomes an issue when let's say you're playing as Doctor and somehow nobody seems to be affected by his special attack while gens in the next room are popping with no scratch marks. or even better... players (console and PC) who just happen to keep speeding up during a chase. Silly me... I didn't know that speed perks could recharge during a chase. If it looks like cheating and smells like cheating...
-
Ahh I remember the days of Gameshark... trust me, there are a lot of cheaters in this game... many of them subtle. I've noticed that my connection starts going crazy whenever I get near someone cheating. They seem to gain bursts of speed (without the proper perks) and have this common habit of just vanishing after turning a corner... and in places that there isn't anywhere to hide.
-
I think Reporting and Blocking could be much more efficient. The Block function at least IMO should allow you to block any and all players regardless of their platform. Yeah, I can see how the Report function might cause problems (I'm guilty of reporting entire teams out of anger) but the Block function should at least be an option. As of right now, Block is just as worthless as Report... it doesn't actually Block anyone from matching with you again.
-
Well let me tell you... my Survivor matchmaking has been absolutely terrible for the past two months. If I'm entering SoloQ, chances are that I'm bringing a key. I'm not going to run around single-handedly doing gens, unhooking, healing, etc. only to die on first hook.

Yeah, I haven't seen many boil over plays that were actually successful since the second rework (after the first disaster of it). There has been a couple occasions that a sabo squad might try to sabo for the boil over, which I just drop and they usually get punished. The only time I struggle with boil over is if its an indoor map and I get stuck in a door way.
When I play Killer, I always try to go to the RPD. Even as a Survivor I just like this map (not because of the Library) but because it's a nice change of environment. I tend to get 4k's with Doctor and it's all thanks to his Special. My build is: Corrupt Intervention, Dead Man's Switch, Lightborn, and Ruin. That build makes locating Survivors very easy and gens are near undoable. By the time one gen pops, I've dealt with at least one Survivor

Thanks for letting me know. It's only started happening recently. Hasn't happened since yesterday but yeah the slowdown is very noticeable. Basically if I'm a Survivor, it looks like they're in an anti-gravity chamber walking. After Googling it I found really old posts about it but nobody ever seemed to figure out what was causing it.

Fine with that, just dislike when they play musical lockers all with flashlights lol.
This is why I love my Tier III Myers. Infinite EW3, Insidious, and Lightborn. Kind of more fun than Bubba sometimes.
-
One thing I love is getting teamed up with Survivors that don't only rely on flashlight saves... they know how to sab hooks. Those are really good players that know how to cover their teammates. Always makes for an interesting match even when I play as Killer. Much respect to those people.

It's one of those perks that needs a total redesign. The second it becomes useful, it gives players the keys to the trollmobile.
I still see it rather a lot, and I think out of the last...maybe dozen times I've faced it, it's caused me to lose a survivor once. And that was RPD, which is the only map where this perk is still very very annoying due to how spaced out the hooks are.
See I completely get that it gets abused by trolls, especially in the RPD... as a Survivor I run Tenacity, Boil Over, Soul Guard (or Power Struggle it depends), and Flip-Flop. I play a lot of SoloQ Survivor and it's more to avoid being left to die on 1st hook.

Tenacity...I have no idea - but Boil Over was a plague post buff.
Yeah I mean I understand that BO was pretty OP but now it's basically just wiggle progression. Most Killers don't seem to struggle or feel any pressure from it.
-
@amazing_grace said:
That was quick. I wouldn't judge the upcoming changes too quickly because they haven't even been released to live version yet. They'll probably be adjusted if they're too egregious from the PTB. Also, there's a lot of new perk combinations that could bring more fun in gameplay and just be goofy things to do.
Also, this is the completely wrong place to ask for a refund. If you have a considerable amount of hours in the game, you aren't going to get refunded because of an update that you don't like. If you want to make new friends and have people maybe spice up the game for you, check out the discord. That's a better place to find someone to play with anyway/
They must have reworked Boil Over again because it's virtually unusable unless you fall in specific spots. The gauge barely fills and most Killers know to walk down stairs so yeah... and Tenacity is another one that hasn't been working the way it used to.

what do we expect.
they try to shake up the meta, but cheating is still allowed. :)
People are finally noting that there are console cheaters/ hackers. There are still people downplaying the issue but I truly enlightened myself after not only witnessing it on PSN, but watching actual videos of how people do it and are remaining undetected. I used Gameshark regularly when I was growing up until I realized that games are much more fun without cheat devices. There are so many devices that people can attach to their Playstation Console and it will pretty much ensure an advantage even for online games.
-
When I say "Behaving Badly" I don't necessarily mean camping or tunneling. It's more about if someone appears to be locating survivors when they don't have the appropriate perk or survivors who seem to purposely ignore their teammates.

So would everyone who wins against said toxic losers
I would say that if they could implement this system and certain people get blocked/ reported enough, then maybe Behavior could look at those specific accounts. Nobody wants to get partnered with players behaving badly on purpose for an advantage.
-
My main has been Michael Myers. Build: Insidious, Corrupt Intervention, Iron Grasp, Lightborn. Add-ons: Fragrant Tuft of Hair and Judith Memorial. I tend to focus on one Survivor at a time unless I see someone is intentionally trying to get my attention.
-
I'm not sure what matches you've been getting into... but most of my Survivor matches end with me attempting to find hatch with maybe two generators completed. When I play Killer it's usually the complete opposite but I can generally get at least a 3k.
-
I lost count. I'm using map offerings in all of my matches because I refuse to go to Autohaven or Swamp again...

In all seriousness, in real life, the most depraved Killers are often the ones you'd never expect. The "normal" ones. So yeah, you're right.
Yup exactly! Kind of like the lore they gave Ghost Face in DBD. He's a working guy by day, Killer by night.

I want to see more "Humanoid" Killers. Like a killer bride, next-door neighbor, the boss, etc. Humans are the scariest simply because it could be anyone you know.

Trapper is fun to play but not fun to go against. I had a lot of fun playing him but I hate matches against him... unless I know the Survivors on hook or you've proven yourself to be a team player... seeya back at the campsite!

I have been trying to have super chill matches, but the mechanic of survivors having to escape to get their invitations really makes them sweat. Games have been ending in about the same amount of time, and I feel I have wasted a lot of flan. No more playing chill for me. It is time to dust off the pile of bones.
LOL I had a chill Nurse recently who I basically just stuck with for the entire match. It was SoloQ so as expected, the other Survivors weren't having anything to do with cooperation. Towards the end, I let her hook me as the other three Survivors watched... and then ran off. She just looked back and forth shaking "No" and then messaged me. She felt so bad that my teammates left me on first hook. Honestly, how could I even be mad at her? Survivors... y'all really need to settle down.

I did that recently and I posted a rant about how my soloq team just rolled me over four times in a single match. It's not viable in SoloQ.
Ahh yeah SoloQ is a different matter entirely... That build has saved me in SoloQ but it depends on whether or not the randoms decide to drop the pallet to save themselves.

Flip-flop, Power Struggle, and Tenacity. You're welcome.

A surprising amount of ppl that refuse to let me heal, too. Took me 6 matches to get the 'heal 3 ppl with aftercare' challenge cuz everybody was self healin in front of me. Idk....ppl are playin weird
Same with me. I'm noticing that either the Killer is just being really hardcore or the other three survivors just don't care. I'd like to think that some of my recent matches have been with much newer players but their skill sets are all tier 3 so I can't say for sure...

That does suck. I've been there. Was in a team with a TTV and their friends. During EGC I save one of them off hook . I get put on a hook in the process. When I went back and viewed their footage I hear the TTV saying to them "Leave him. Don't bother saving". Sucks people play that way.

That's how I try to approach my games. I've said this many times on this forum in defence of solo, as long as I see someone is trying I don't care if they screw it up. It doesn't get me mad. Hell, I've made some epic mistakes that has cost the game. I highly doubt anyone can claim they never have.
Same. Everyone is new at some point and sometimes people mess up. No biggie right? Then you have people that know exactly what they are doing and don't care.

Yeah, but thing is, it's not real life. It's a game. People play games for fun. Being facecamped + hard tunneled is not fun if only the best can survive it.
That's kind of the point for a game like this... it's horror/ survival. As long as nobody is outright cheating to gain an advantage (and I mean hacking not camping) then it is what it is.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/329393/rules-against-tunnelling-camping
I think you lost a lot of credibility the moment you said “I’m a survivor main for 90% of the time”.
If you play killer more than just occasionally, and you start facing very good survivors and coordinated SWF teams regularly, you begin to realize that camping and tunneling are often required to secure kills. There simply isn’t time to play by the survivor rule book when you have to deal with SWF coordination, broken maps and an extremely broken 2nd chance perks. It’s not a matter of killer skill but a matter of game design and math. If survivors are playing efficiently, it’s mathematically impossible to get more than 1 kill if you try to hook everyone equally. Add in flashlight/pallet saves and 2nd chance perks, and you might be lucky to get even that one kill.
I’m convinced that most survivor mains would stop complaining about camping and tunneling if they actually bothered to play killer more than just a few times.
This is exactly why I turned into an Insidious Bubba/ Myers. I started to see things from the Killer's perspective and I've noticed that some Survivors, unfortunately, get their rocks off by harassing the Killer... and then have a tantrum when they don't escape.
-

It's funny how people experience such polar opposites. I actually think the solo experience has improved a great deal for me over the last few weeks
It's interesting because I thought things were getting better, but once the event started, that took a 180. I was the random in a 4-man squad today and it didn't matter how well I played or how much I helped the other players. They left me to die and didn't even try to help. When I messaged them they each said, "Collateral damage. You're the random."
-
I got them all. The best thing that you can do is to play as Killer because as long as you collect the invitation before the exit doors open, you are guaranteed a mask. It's more difficult for Survivors... if you die, no mask. If you get the invitation after the exit gates are opened, no mask. Again, you're better off going into a match as a Killer and just searching for the invitations. I got most of mine as Survivor but it was brutal except for the few matches where Killers were looking for the invitations too.
-
"Tunnelling" is essentially chasing someone. In real life, Killers chase their targets. The goal of the Killer is to kill Survivors... that can't be done unless the Killer chases you. It's true, I don't like being the sole target of a Killer when I play Survivor but I've done the same exact thing when I play Killer... it can't really be avoided.
