thoughts on making slugging less "kill me now"?
an idea i had was, two survivors down at same time one gains unbreakable, to basically cause less of a domino effect.

Remote Diagnosis is an archives challenge that requires you to electrify 4 survivors that are 48 meters away from you in one trial as Doctor
This challenge makes no sense, it's the only killer power challenge in the game that has no unlockable requirement stated but requires an unlockable to be completed, it's impossible to electrify survivors 48 meters away from you as basekit Doctor without the Iridescent Queen addon or a combo of Terror Radius perks and addons
Every other killer power challenge doesn't have that design oddity, all other killer power challenges can be completed with their basekit properties, this challenge needs a tweak or a reworkdo i need monitor and abuse and distressing. distressing increasing by 16% and it needs a 50% increase

Trapper is like playing chess if you think about it.
Hag is similar. They play traps for power and killer power is like learning to use a knight or bishop. They are stronger pieces in many cases but wont get you far if you don't understand their movements/placement strategy.

solo q survivors are the pawns obviously.. design to be cannon fodder in a way. A pawn can move two steps forward for it first move showing they have a decent early game. Survivors also get a good headstart at the beginning of the trail with all the resources still up.
The king is the most valuable peice which is the survivor who closest to death. The death hook Survivor being chases is equivalent to being put in check and a down is checkmate. The team will die in a 3v1.
The rest of peices merely describe survivor play Styles.
The Rook- mainly stick close to the king. Flashlight, sabo, and flashbang users.
The Horse- good at evading in tight spots. These are stealthy gen jockeys who slow walk soon they hear your terror radius.
The Bishop- The good loopers. i can't think of a reason...so just trust me bro
Good looper would have to be the queen, four queens in that scenario are gonna need a queen for a killer. I like the analogy for the pieces being a play style tier list.

En Passant is the equivalent of Ghostie 99'ing a survivor and letting them go. He may not go directly for them, but he'll ambush them from behind and down them where they'll least expect it.
Is that also a chess opening? a lot of thinking ahead is required for killer.

The fried liver attack is a very famous opening by White that can potentially win the game in 4 moves if black doesn't react correctly.
It's typically used by people against beginners to catch them out early, but it is an overcommitment by white, so if black doesn't fall for the trap, black ends up in a much stronger position overall.
In the chess world it is generally advised not to play the Fried Liver because it doesn't use/develop chess fundamentals, so If you use it, you inflate your win rate and will start going against better players who know how to deal with it, and then you'll have none of the fundamental tools to compete at that level...
Now I've said it, I feel the analogy is actually more accurate than I originally gave it credit for 😅
Yea explaining that it really does, awesome analogy. I find im learning more about game with all these analogies :D

If I were to create a OC DBD chess set:
Survivor: -
- Pawns: Pallets.
- Knights: Kate and Nea vaulting windows.
- Bishops: Jake and Meg shining flashlights.
- Rooks: Jane and Dwight sticking their heads out of lockers.
- Queen: Yui lifting a pallet with AMN.
- King: Ace opening a chest.
Killer: -
- Pawns: Hex totems.
- Knights: Legion and Singularity vaulting windows.
- Bishops: Huntress and Deathslinger aiming hatchets/gun.
- Rooks: Hillbilly and Blight smashing pallets.
- Queen: Nurse charging a blink.
- King: Trapper setting a trap.
That's interesting.
To me King is who owns the map. Starts in survivors hands.

Another similarity;
Chess board is asymmetrical in whites favor for most part. Black plays off whites opening mostly. (im know chess grandmaster).
Each map in dead by daylight will always start in survivors favor and is static pallet spawns. Think of house placements on each of the badham preschool variants as an example. It's not as RNG as some make it sound like. Although mechanical skill is not as much a part in chess.

Yea and respecting and not getting rid of it might give more time for other side. Somewhat. Like 15 seconds vs 45 seconds on a tile.

Its to make tunneling harder. If you have no hook states, and your friend has two and the killer REALLY wants the friend gone from the game, you take a hook state form time and give it to yourself. Now the killer has to hook the friend 4 times instead of 3
That's what I was thinking.
-
@Sandt1985 said:
Here's my counteroffer…
Invocation: I'll watch your back
If you invocate for 150/120/90 seconds, you gain the Heroic status effect
While you have the Heroic status effect, your opponent loses a hook state when you unhook them, and you gave a hook state.
(You can't gain the Heroic status effect when you are on death hook, and you loos the heroic status effect, you you reach death hook.)
Like you unhook and they gain a hook state from you? I think a lot of people are misunderstanding the premise.
If I'm dead hook at 4 generators and my friend has been hooked. The amount of total hooks in the match remain the same. I think what your saying would work if it's what I think you're saying

What would you do if the Survivor already left the Lobby? There is not really any point for a Solo Survivor to stick around watching the game once they are dead. Would you replace them with a Bot?
I am against the Perk idea either way, but IMO this is a very obvious issue which comes with your idea.
It would then be made to transfer in this scenario.
While player is alive two players can use invocation in basement to transfer hook state. Basically if I'm dead hook on 4 generators and my friend has not been hooked we can make it they reason a hook state. It would not be a resurrection type ability. If that makes more sense

@Chocolate_Cosmos said:
Nooooooooooooooooooooo.
Some core mechanics of the game should NEVER be a perk, item, offering, etc. that can change it.
Imagine something like this for the killer. "Get kill and revert finished gen back to 0%." or "Hook all survivors once and revert progress of finished gen". Like hell no.
It's more fun factor. Killer gets kill toward MMR and it still compensates time. 60 second is transfered. Understandable though gen analogy is like before gen is popped a perk can remove 33% it goes in line, hook state must be transfered before sacrifice. Two players not on gens to transfer a hook from someone not hooked.
-
70/80/90
A hook state is base 60
A generator repair is base is 90

It could also make survivor exposed indefinitely and Moriable

Nah, even with five perks worth of gen repair speed bonus', the regression meta will still chew through your gens.
If Visionary had like "Increase your generator repair speed by 8% if you're blind." Fits the theme, blind is semi-relevant atm. This way, if the killer blinds you for whatever reason, UW, Third Seal, etc, then you get buffed for the duration.
It still fits the theme of game: You bring flash lights, so killer brings Light born. With this change, killer brings a blinding perk, you bring visionary :)
Balance balance balance balance balance balance!
That sounds pretty cool and it does fit the theme

Allright man, ummm, I don't know how to respond to that,
I was just expressing my disagreement that MMR is a good matchmaker in long term..
But whatever, have a nice day.
hopefully mmr is improved im sure we both can agree on that. I personally have a messed hand and still can have enjoyable games solo. Maybe my mmr is low i just have a lot of time to play lol. sorry if i came across rude, but it does pertain to balance, it has greatly effected my skill and thus my mmr. I used to have a much higher kill rate when i did main hag. This happened slightly before was adjusted. Then I played for the period of mmr test relearning joystick skill esentially.
what does a balanced dead by daylight look like aside from 2 kills, from each perspective killer and survivor.
currently game starts in survivors favor and each survivor has 3 hook states. A perfect path as survivor, you may be able to run the killer all game.
As a killer i enjoy hook states, so 2 hook each, a active hook state applys more pressure than a dead hook state gen wise. There are layers of skill in dead by daylight so truthfully the kill/escape base one doesn't seem like it would balance accordingly, but even if it did...would that be balanced, what would those matches look like?
-MMR is worth discussing. I do have civil intent so hope that is how i come across. Disagreement is 100% healthy, otherwise there would be no progress.

Do you main Clown as the killer?
I used to main hag til i lost my right thumb and index finger in a chain accident on nov17 2020, its when strangers things left dead ass...i have all killers p3 50 and play a few killers. dont main any. I usually get rank one though. Think of how not all poker hands are royal flushes. Theres varies pieces in chess and players create advantages, white in chess has the advantage did you know? Balance in games doesnt always mean what we think it means.

This game tracks your altruism from unhooking to healing,
boldness from chasing, escaping chases to cleansing totems,
survival from self healing to struggling, wiggling and surviving,
objective from gens and exit gate.
You get rewarded for that,
you also get rewarded for dying as Obsession +1000.
And the matchmaking only cares about surviving/dying, and killing/not killing,
eh....
It's to balance the game for all 5 participating players. The score categories are far from actual skill representations.
If a killer gets 8 hooks and everyone leaves then that killer doesn't suffer having to go against harder teammates for knowing how to play. Balancing around all 5 players is the reason it's so tricky. If I die then I get a easier killer, if i escape I get a harder killer. If killer kills two or more survivors depending on where their mmr sits then they will either gain or lose mmr. The results are better for long term balancing.
Solo MMR balancing may be a truer representation of skill. If I die more but my games result in more three escapes on average then it would be interesting comparing it to someone who gets out more, but their games might result in more two escapes on average.
(By skilled i mean you can hold you're own in solo and have mechanical skill, time management, situational awareness etc.)

Being healed isn't progressing the game. The survivor who has ds active cannot really do anything except mend, take chase, go in lockers.

I already feel like Badham is in need of another *minor* graphical update. Looking at how detailed Haddonfields and Thompson House' Houses are, with rooms full of furniture and such, makes it look like people actually lived there. Badham is already looking a bit outdated with houses that only have a single couch or bed and the rest of the 'furniture' are just pallets and lockers.
Haddonfield is on another level when it comes to attention to detail in my opinion. Springwood should have had less variants and more attention to details, although I do like springwood, I'm not a fan of the amount of variants of the map there are.

Hello,
I read recently that there are big changes coming regarding the Prestige system. Special costumes will be awarded for raising it. As you know, it takes a lot of time right now. So I did it mainly for characters for whom I wanted a bloody item of clothing, often only to the 1/2 level. For example, I only have one killer on 3rd because the weapon always look wierd, but a few on the 1/2. And now the question - when the whole system is updated, will it count or do you have to be on the third to get a special costume?
For me, even one level is a lot of time devoted to games and I don't know now whether to level up one more favorite character to 3 and the rest will be wasted or I dont have to do anything special and can I focus on leveling up a new killer as I still have a lot on 1.
1.5 million bloodpoints to level a character from 1 to 50.
I'm curious what will happen with licensed killers who are prestige 3...im not sure if they'll be able to give an exclusive cosmetic for license characters.
Its a lot cheaper to prestige than to get all the perks, but having all the perks on a character will help that character once the new system is in effect because of a catch-up system, but will not even offer a chance for the exclusive reward for prestige.
(4.5million bp for p3 level 1) I would suggest choosing your favorite characters and trying to put all you're bloodpoints into them.
Were Gonna Live Forever on survivor and Barbeque and Chili on killer if you want to get 64k a match instead of 32k.
I am personally hoping they give tokens of some sort and we can choose outfits or its a piece per prestige.

Yeah, actually. It wasn't originally intended and existed as a reward to those who decided to grind the hell that was the system - I think it was November 2016?
Anyway, it did genuinely come out of left field. There was, like, a 3 day at most announcement before the update hit.
Okay, i am just trying to figure out if bloody gear will be unique to those of us who have everyone p3 etc, or if their will be a new cosmetic that will be exclusive and the bloody gear stays as the first 3 prestige rewards.

It would be a major disappointment for many to not have anniversary cakes. Me included! And I hope they fix the spawn on prestige survivors this year! The last two years have been awful. Did 50 bloodwebs on a prestiged survivor, got 12 cakes, maybe 2 anniversary flash lights, 2 med kits and 1 toolbox. Did 50 bloodwebs on a killer (prestiged or not) and got 50+ cakes. The math simply doesn't add up!
i never noticed a difference in prestige spawn, but it makes sense. Prestige has higher chance of purple items etc. I hope we are showered in anniversary cakes XD

I think there's a considerable possibility that we will not. The grind is getting significantly reduced in summer 2022, which probably means 6.1.0. At that point, the amount of bloodpoints people will actually need will also be significantly less. So i think if they did cakes this year the grind could be completely killed by the time the progression overhaul comes out.
that sounds reasonable. They are doing a bloodhunt weekend around the anniversary event so it is my hope its double bloodpoints. Once the prestige system is in effect im sure bloodpoints wont be as sought after. Im still in the grind grind grind mindset sadly even with nearly 600million earned.
