I'm not quite sure what I'm missing here, about an emergency patch needed?

Nothing has changed on the Live game, the Haste and Hindered Stacking is on the PTB to be tested by players.

Fair point. Now, lets address clown in particular. These new changes completely remove an entire perk category for him, since his power gives both haste and hindered. Killer powers and addons shouldn't be included in these changes

  • Weaker killer's Iri addons should make those killers MUCH stronger, while stronger killer's Iri addons should give them an entirely new playstyle to work with

"Lock-on Hindered you, but she also got Haste. She could be stealth, pallets don't work with a claw trap, she enforced a leave loop or die playstyle which was pretty much every new Killer release at the time, not an issue specifically with her, but it didn't help.

Just a lot of bloat on her kit."

… I agree! But the scanline mechanic itself wasn't a problem; it was the "random bullshit go!" approach in terms of the payoff for scanlines. They could have streamlined her power significantly, cut out the Haste and Hinder and given her some new method of lethality against clawtrapped Survs, but kept the scan-and-stack + clawtrap system the same and we wouldn't be having this conversation. I've been pressuring BHVR for that in my videos for the past 18 months!

If everybody is playing ghoul, then nobody can ruin my dbd by playing Hag or Wraith

Agreed. I'd rather face The Ghoul 100 times then face a spirit or blight who knows what they're doing

  • If a single gen is completed, then no, theres no need to tunnel. If a single gen is left while all 4 survivors are still alive, then YES, you'd be a damn fool not to tunnel.

This killer is insane. Guaranteed injury since it’s almost impossible to miss with the power, insane map mobility, and insane at ending chases since you can leap ahead of a survivor or right next to them and cancel your ability mid air so you can get a instant m1 after landing. I would put him around Billy as the 4th best killer in the game currently. He has all the things in his kit to be S tier and has an addon that is legit bbq and chili.

Good. The game had been in desperate need for a killer that gives the other top tiers a run for their money

I like her a lot. The gameplay feels nice to me (when it works lol), her design and lore are interesting to me.

Her perks are situational, yes. Jagged Compass is great but the rest kinda sucks.

Her Ultimate Houndmaster cosmetic is criminally overpriced.

Id argue that All Shaking Thunder, while very situational, is her best perk by a country mile

  • First Main: David and Pig

    Current Main: Kate and Knight

Favorite Map: Racoon City Police Department (Original version)

Favorite Perk: Strength in Shadows/Lethal Pursuer

    Favorite Item: Map

    Favorite Chapter: Resident Evil

    How many P100s?: 1. Kate

    Hours: 5989

OBVIOUSLY, its 'No Mithir' and 'Beast of Prey'!

After she hits someone with Victor he should go on cool down instead of giving her the ability to slug with him I've had too many people slug down my whole team with him

I mean…….thats kind of the whole point of her power. Twins and Oni are the slugging killers. Its where their core strength lies.

Countering twins is actually quite simple. It's the opposite approach to Legion: Heal up at all times. If two or more of you are injured at a time against twins, you're basically throwing the game at that point. Twins succeed against injured survivors, but they fail against a team of healthy survivors who are half way decent at looping.

Also, don't be afraid to hop in a locker against victor. Rarely will Charlotte be close enough to pull you out of that locker in time (8 seconds.)

I mean, she had a 70% Kill Rate. That's overpowered by the definition.

Making a Killer that is near universally reviled is generally considered a failure of design. I am really not sure what else you'd call it.

Are we gonna address that most of that 70% comes from survivors giving up on hook once they realize its her they're playing against?

  • This doesn't feel like Skull Merchant at all. Its just another dash killer with a Skull Merchant skin on top of it. This really feels like a bait and switch for a killer I've put a great deal of time into learning.

Taking the last real macro-play killer and changing her into just another dash killer feels like the ultimate slap in the face from Behavior

  • Poor Pixel Bush. He's gonna be heartbroken :-(

  • I understand the hate for breakable walls but they exist for a reason. They were added to counter certain god windows. If breakable walls go, then those windows need to always be blocked

  • My issue isn't that he's a 110% killer

My issue is that he's a 110% killer with a 32 meter terror radius. No 110% killer should have a terror radius above 24 meters

Dungeons and dragons is mainly a board game (I think idk much about dnd) and castlevania was a video game and before that the only video game franchises in dbd were from the big two horror juggernauts resident evil and silent hill. Tokyo ghoul is the first anime killer and fnaf is the first indie/mascot horror video game. Before that we had pinhead(rip),resident evil part 1/2, sadako xeno and chucky which are what you expect in dbd. I really like the diversification of what they consider gives me hope that one day slender man would come here. Since slender man is not really a movie, show or big game Franchise it’s a creepy pasta that had two popular indie games that were big on YouTube in the early to mid 2010s similar to fnaf. I hope slender man is the first creepypasta added. What license do you think has a higher chance to be added in dbd than before?

Tokyo Ghoul in DBD makes me excited for the future, because it opens the door for Lucy (from Elfen Lied) to be a killer one day

  • Getting a facehugger on your face is a guaranteed death in all cases. That would be a very hard mechanic to balance in DBD without it seeming unfair

I’m trying to make a “lore accurate” nemesis so I’m not using much meta. All I’m using is pain resonance as my sole gen perk. I’m using thwack and all shacking thunder. I keep switching the 4th perk and I can’t seem to see anything that fits. Dbd is kind of boring at the moment which the last chapter being meh and the next one being delayed so I’m just trying anything out. I’m really hoping that the next chapter has cool perks to use on nemesis. What perks work good on nemesis and make him feel more like nemesis from RE3

I go with THWACK. From a lore perspective, its the sound Nemesis' whip makes.

But from a game play perspective, its one of my favorite perks to use on our resident B.O.W killer. Nemesis is a killer that doesn't really need to break pallets to get downs. So I leave more then a few pallets up. That way, if I ever have trouble finding survivors, I just break a pallet with the whip, and get some value out of survivor screams and aura reading.

I assure you, there's so much value in this with Nemesis

...Can you give killers a break? Every little detail and idiosyncrasy killers have is scrutinized, blown out of proportion, and made out to be a bad thing. Like you're doing here, thinking of the worst possible scenario these changes could lead to. Any killer can Lethal and wipe out any team at the start, as long as the team is that bad. Aura isn't free kills; just because the killer sees you doesn't mean he gets you. And is that rage quit justification, too? You're really not helping your cause.

We've done the "survivor buffs first" approach for years, and it isn't working. I mean it is, for survivors, but they're completely ungrateful. Literal free BT + Haste off hook, and they boil it down to "doing nothing." That kind of ingratitude. What we've basically seen is an attempt to make the uncarryable solos beat good killer players, through these changes and through forced mismatches, which doesn't do a thing except make the game more broken in the favor of survivors who know what they're doing, especially SWF/bully squads. It's killers who've been told, "Yeah, they're getting all this stuff, but we'll balance it out eventually." We're still waiting. Maybe with this "killer sided" set of changes, well see something, anything.

I told BHVR good job because they're actually doing something this time, they're actually trying. They've got a plan, a vision. But as part of it, you're getting MORE anti-slug, anti-tunnel, anti-camp, anti-"go next," etc. What's to complain about, just off of speculation? That's what you're mad about, nihilistic speculation, no meaty details, for a role that's had it all since the game launched. Like I alluded to, that doesn't mean an absence of problems. The matchmaking is super messed up and people DC all the time in solo. But that doesn't equate to killers being "OP."

Never before in the history of DBD has this been put into words so perfectly! THANK YOU! SCREAM IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS!!!

  • On one hand, I'm not looking forward to this new "dry period". The 6 week period of getting new content and updates is what keeps this game from getting stale. But on the other hand, this game desperatly needs this Health Update, especially with FNAF right around the corner.

Behavior is playing the long game, this time around, and I'm all for it

I have played this game since 2017 on and off. That's not to comment about my skill, just that I have seen the game change a lot. In early DBD which strove to create a wacky fun experience for all players I supported killer addons, old flashlights, medkits and everything else. But eventually the direction changed to one of balance.

This game is the most balanced it has ever been. So why are killer addons still viable? I mean they seriously nerfed toolboxes, medkits and keys. Sure that's all fine, but why can I throw on addon that boosts my killer power? Even small changes have big impact. Look at made for this with it's 3% increase. So you can't argue that even small boosts in killer power don't have a huge impact. The more power addons are like versing completely different killers. If a killer needs the addon, then why not make it basekit and remove the all addons. There is no reason most killers need a power boost.

At the minimum killers should not get normal blood points. Cut it by half at least to show hey you won, but not really. If you are going to say well remove survivor items as well. Might as well most of them have been nerfed into inconsequence.

I've seen some entitled posts before here, but damn, this takes the survivor cake!

  • Honestly? It might sound dumb, but I'd really hope for a massive swarm of killer bees. Could be called The Swarm of The Hive.

  • Last year, My Little Oni was available for three days, so I'm hoping for another three days this year. Its easily the most unique game mode Behavior has ever done and we need more creativity like that in DBD

  • Not gonna lie, thats actually an interesting build

    This is incredibly short-sighted.

    —

@jasonq500 I stopped playing DBD around the release of Nicolas Cage - Alien, and started playing again this month. I've run into 3 Skull Merchants in the past 2 weeks and I have to say…I have absolutely no idea how she is different than she was on release.

I am a veteran player who nows comes into the game with a casual lens. If I cannot identify the changes, I do not trust that the average player will feel confident SM has 'watered down' or 'redesigned' to provide a more enjoyable experience for all.

I can describe how every single killer in the game works to any player looking to learn the game.
For the life of me, I could not tell you how Skull Merchant works, and I see that as a massive design flaw.

There is simply not enough context clues in the game to tell me why I should hack drones, what the drones do to help the Skull Merchant, and what benefits and/or risk rewards there are for choosing to hack/not hack at any given time. I imagine add-ons go a long way to adding to that confusion.

Last night I played against a SM on Lery's who ran Surge & Sloppy—maybe even Pop—with an add-on I think made you hear her terror radius whenever you hacked a drone. We didn't get a single gen done. It felt like OG 3-gen lockdown Skull Merchant to me.

I have absolutely no idea how she is different than she was on release.

You can't possibly be serious. She's NOTHING like she was on release.(Good thing, BTW.) She can't three gen like she could on day one, she can't give exposed like she could on day one, you can out right ignore her drones by avoiding the scan lines or crouch walking through them, you can turn off her drones without her even knowing you where even there unless she's constantly checking her radar, and of course, unlike her release, there is no longer a HUGE GLOWING ORANGE CIRCLE that shows where her drones are from a mile away.

So I seriously have to question if you ever even played with/against her release version if you think the two are even remotely comparable

I think there's something genuinely interesting about how many people interpreted this question as a comment about strength or counterplay instead of what it was, which is killer design.

So, no, I am not suggesting anything at all here. I'm opening up a conversation about a killer power I think is a little bit bloated to see if anyone has a compelling counter argument.

Fair enough. Here's my counterargument to your post….

Not all killer powers need to be super simple. In fact, I'd argue that this would make DBD very boring in the long run. Now, I'm not arguing for killers to have Skully 2.0 levels of stuff in their powers, but a power that has a few things going for it is hardly a bad thing. Looking at the list you made for Wesker and what he has going for him, I'll admit its got more then a few things, but all of them are fairly easy to understand and all of them can be countered by good survivor gameplay, so in the grand scheme of things, I think Wesker is more then fine as is.

My final thought is that we need more killers as engaging as Wesker, not less. And his kit is hardly bloated

  • Are you actually suggesting nerfs to one of the most balanced killers in the game?

If 4 survivors are booning that means gens are not being done lol my god yall dont ever look at disadvantages to things only what is an advantage?

That does not, at all, address my fear of multiple shadow steps or multiple Dark Theory at once, covering a large portion of the map. 3-4 shadow steps up at once, potentially near each other? Once line of sight is broken, the chase is essentially over

  • Wait, so each survivor could bring a separate boon perk, or even wors, the same boon perk(s), but all 4 survivors would be able to use them to light a boon and gain access to all 4 perks carried by four different survivors, and this could be done to 4 seperate totems, each with all four boons?

And you don't think this could be problematic in any way, shape or form? Really? 4 shadow steps or four dark theory, all of which would cover a huge section of the map?

SWF would have a field day with this

  • Fingers crossed that they bring back 'My Little Oni' on April 1st!!!

  • "if it's because you want to see the mori without any obstacles" You answered your own question.

Some moris just look better or more "horror aesthetic" on certain maps. I want to see them on all maps, rather then just the character select screen.

To quote you for a moment, "its just a few seconds."

  • You left out arguably the most important option of them all: The streets of Silent Hill themselves.

Any additions y'all would like to add?

Trapper: Placing traps on the exit gate switches is the biggest 🤓 thing you can do in this game.

Wraith: No beef; a nice, balanced killer.

Hillbilly: Players have forgotten he has a hammer. 🤯

Nurse: No beef; I just believe her terror radius should be larger.

Shape: PTSD whenever I see a Léry’s offering.

Hag: Drops half her traps around each hooked survivor. Seriously? Overkill, much?

Doctor: Always use Static Blast when you’re in the basement or a subterranean area; think they have to run Merciless Storm.

Huntress: Sweats and tryhards who spam aura-reading perks; hatchet hitboxes are pathetic.

Cannibal: Also forgets to use the hammer provided to him; Barbecue & Chilli is like riding with training wheels.

    Nightmare: Lousy, fake pallets.

Pig: Chases and hooks survivors with an active trap. That defeats the purpose of them.

Clown: Annoying SFX that makes them appear ultra-edgy.

Spirit: Knows where you are when phasing, even if you’re uninjured and walking - and not in grass.

Legion: Can see where everyone is from too far away via Killer Instinct - including inside lockers.

Ghostface: Should not be able to pop his power mid-chase; I roll my eyes when I face him - which is too often since he’s so popular (for whatever reason). 🙄

Plague: Those who chase you around and puke on you until you're broken instead of just hitting you for the same result. (BTW the vomit has an absolutely horrific hitbox - needs Huntress love).

Demogorgon: No beef; my favorite to play as.

    Oni: Recharges power too easily/quickly.

Deathslinger: No beef; my second favorite to play as.

Executioner: Always returns to the hook for a Torment hit on both survivors.

Blight: Can turn too sharply while rushing - if out in the open, he won’t miss a swing; also needs a larger terror radius alongside Nurse.

Twins: No beef; starting to see more players than historic trends, which is good.

Trickster: Used to be annoying when everyone played him but is calmer now; strafing does not allow you to dodge his knives.

Nemesis: Jumpscare SFX when he reaches Tier 3.

Cenobite: Invisible Configuration add-on makes me want to cry; too hard to time the solve just right when harassed by chains.

Artist: Can easily protect the last three gens with constant crows; can’t escape via gate as last survivor for the same reason.

Onryō: Will do nothing but spam teleport to blowout Condemned on everyone.

    Dredge: No beef.

Mastermind: "Oh, hooray, another Weskar." 😴

Knight: Those that run alongside survivors until the guard hits them to get an insta-down. 🙄 Probably my third-favorite killer to play as.

Skull Merchant: Every SM plays the exact same, like drones programmed to act alike.

Singularity: Sweats who will stop mid-chase to switch to cameras just to shoot/teleport to the person right in front of them. Seriously?

Xenomorph: The tail attack never misses - ever; introduced easy-mode perks that make you facepalm.

Good Guy: Annoying SFX; another traditionally tryhard killer.

Unknown: That lame spitting power that almost gives an auto-hit because it's AOE, not pinpoint precision (e.g. Plague); the ear-splitting SFX when he jumps to his illusions is terrible.

Lich: Some cringemasters waste all four of his powers in chase with a single survivor. Calm down, bro.

Dark Lord: Very lenient hitbox with the fireballs.

Houndmaster: Dog runs faster than a cheetah; the legendary skin is a poodle (omegalul).

reguarding the plague…..thats literally the whole point of her base power.

    :)

Possibly. I think once you get to be in the mid-teens (able to get a job in the US and thereby have your own income), that you are official not a "child".

I still think that early game benefited from being accessible to kids whilst not being overly horror. However, it does have the benefit of not overtly marketing towards a younger audience. Its veneer is at least consistent with what people say.

As for the last point, you understand why I am so endlessly upset that BHVR, who has long championed LGBTQ+ causes even to their own detriment, has seemingly sold out to someone who shares the opposite view.

Regarding Scott, i completely understand and fully agree. With that being said, Springtrap is still the undisputed most requested Killer in DBD history, with only Jason Voorhees standing a chance at being more requested, and even then, I still think Springtrap beats him. The overwhelming majority of DBD fans, including those in the LGBTQIA+ community, want Springtrap in the game. I'm guessing that Behavior weighed the pros and cons, and decided that the pros outweighed the cons by leaps and bounds.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3863680#Comment_3863680

Not sure what you mean there. I have been consistent. FNAF is not targeted towards upper teens or young adults, it is targeted towards children. Young teens and under.

"…as one of the best horror properties out there (Yeah, I said it, and its a hill I'll die on)"

It's an expression meant to convey my disbelief at the hill you are willing to die on.

Bright flashy hyper-stimulating colors aren't the usual market pattern for older audiences. They are almost always indicative of games geared towards the 9-13 range. This does not mean you can't enjoy those games if you are older. However, there is a STARK contrast of the original games design and the newer games design.

I have noticed this hasn't gone uncontested in the FNAF community, with many bemoaning the departure from a darker/gritty design and the attempt to endear itself towards a modern generation of children. I suspect we are not going to get anywhere unless Scott himself says something. It would be like arguing over Fortnite's marketing.

There is a difference between not liking something and objecting to it being included. I do not like the Resident Evil games; I've never enjoyed their gameplay. I have no objection to them, however.

This is because I do not feel the games are marketed towards children, and their direct creator did not donate money to people trying to erase LGBTQ+ people.

Okay, NOW I feel like your having this argument in good faith. :-)

I have a feeling that you and I have differing opinions on what constitutes the meaning of what "children" are. I get the feeling that you think children are 12 and under, while i believe that children are tweens are two different demographics. SO I say we leave that differing opinion by the wayside, ad I doubt we'll come to an agreement there.

I wasn't trying to convey your disbelief. However, I can definitely understand how what I wrote can be interpreted as such, so I apologise for that. IT was quite snarky of me, and was uncalled for. However, I do stand by my statement that I still believe that FNAF is one of the best horror properties out there. However, I feel I need to draw a line where FNAF kinda stopped being one of the best horror properties out there. Everything from FNAF one to Pizzeria Simulator is mostly what I'm referring to, and is (more likely then not) what DBD's FNAF chapter will exclusively be based on. Now, while I still enjoy the FNAF franchise for what it as after Steel Wool took over, I'll be the first to admit that it simply doesnt compare to the horror and lore that the first 6 games gave us. Funnily enough, all the photos you posted to show that FNAF is marketed for kids were exclusively from the post Afton era of FNAF, after Pizzeria Simulator. So I ask you, in good faith, how well would your argument hold up during the day's of FNAF's prime, The Afton Era? I honestly believe that there likely can be some agreement somewhere between us on the subject of FNAF. With that said, i again contend that FNAF is not as great as it was during those dark grittier times, so no argument here on that part. I do, however, still get enjoyment in the post Afton Era games.

As for the political leanings of Scott………totally agree. Screw that guy.

This is a game for children. It is marketed towards young teens.

I am sorry, but if you think that FNAF is anywhere near something like Psycho, Alien, The Thing etc. etc. or even something like Dead Space, early Resident Evil titles or Outlast, you're crazy.

There aren't any surveys conducted, but I think it's pretty obvious who they are marketing towards.

First off, is it for children, or is it for young teens? There are two very different marketing demographics. I ask because the post you made that I originally commented to said "FNAF is marketed towards children. Not upper teens or young adult, but genuine children." I'm willing to have this conversation in good faith, but only if you do the same.

Second, I never once implied that FNAF was on par with the all time juggernauts of horror. I only brought up said juggernauts to say that we as kids watched horror we weren't supposed to, and children of the modern age do the same.

Third, I'll respectfully request that you keep the insults to a minimum. (Crazy, huh?) Again, I'm having this conversation in good faith.

Fourth, I'm actually curious what point you were trying to make with the photos you posted? Something that looks kid friendly can still be used in a horror setting quite effectively. Childs Play, Annabelle, Gremlins, Children of the Corn, and any horror media based of clowns are great examples of this. I actually think this is what FNAF does best: Take something kid friendly and make it scary. Add in a touch of child murder, and BOOM, you have FNAF in a nutshell.

Finally, if FNAF isn't your cup of tea, more power to you. I'll admit that its an acquired taste. You don't have to like FNAF, and thats okay. But the majority of us do, and thats also okay. I wasn't a fan of Castlevania making its way into DBD, the fact that it did didn't make my life any worse by any stretch.

I don't enjoy the IP, I've always found it to be childish and woefully uncreative. It's taken horror backwards, imo. That's not really the issue though.

FNAF's license is owned by a man who donates money to people who, at the very least, are intent on silencing LGBTQ+ people's voices in our world. If BHVR are intent on supporting that sort of thing financially, I cannot in good conscience continue to support them.

Likewise, although moderately less immediately serious, FNAF is marketed towards children. Not upper teens or young adult, but genuine children. I don't support exposing children to the predatory pricing BHVR does. It's bad enough some skins are 20 USD, but when you're bringing in a whole bunch of kids as potential buyers? Yeah, not a fan.

I mean, your entitled to your opinions and I respect that. However, in regards to FNAF being marketed to children, I'm going to push back on that. While yes, this game does have a large fanbase of children. the core series itself was NEVER marketed to that demographic specifically, and frankly, I'm kinda sick of that myth being pushed out there into the world. Similar to how must of us current DBD players grew up watching Jason Voorhees, Freddy Kruegar, and Michael Meyers, we loved them sure, but it was NEVER marketed to us when we were kids. IT was for adults exclusively, but that didnt stop use kids from loving it, and its the same with FNAF.

But lets ignore all of that for just a moment. I ask you to keep in mind that a great many of those FNAF kids who loved it as youngsters ten years ago are now FNAF adults, who still love it just as much as one of the best horror properties out there (Yeah, I said it, and its a hill I'll die on.) So even implying that the majority of FNAF fan are children isn't just factually incorrect. Its downright insulting

  • Having to go a full 6 months without major content is simply way too much to ask for, I'm afraid. A compromise would be to dedicate an entire midchapter to nothing but fixes to the game. But asking the community to go a full 6 months without a new killer or survivor? Yeah……no

Better solution will be nerfing tunnelling. They should make DS basekit after both hook states. And if killer leaves you on ground, time will stop.

Tunnelling should not be free and that's easy.

For me to take this idea seriously, I'm going to need you to explain what will be put into place to keep survivors from using this offensvively to help their teammates

  • The unknown's teleport isn't "a teleport that lets you move and M1 immediately after using it." You needed an addon for it to truly do that, and even that was nerfed heavily. His teleport is quite useful for map traversal, but for attacking, its kinda butt compared to the Hag's teleport. Also, survivors can simply remove your ability to teleport
