For a couple reasons, some of which contribute to the others.
- For some reason we always get connection issues when I played with friends. (I.e. it would take forever for us to connect to a game.)
- I have so many more hours in the game and they just don't keep up with it like I do so stuff goes over their heads.
- Other games come out and now they don't have it downloaded.

Maybe making it so looking on him starts affecting you with a special negative effect?
And maybe adding the pages mechanic as an additional objective (for example, you have to do 4 gens and collect all 8 pages)
I've always wanted to see a killer with that kind of mechanic. One of the biggest things survivors can do to counter a killer is to look at them and read their movements. If there was a killer that punished you for looking at them I thing that would be an interesting mechanic.

It's just standing there...menacingly!!!

imagine an oni or ghostface teleporting to the other side of maps quickly or legion
Depends on if they can even use them.

It kinda raises the question how they’d do multiple prop killers. With Nemmy and Wesker, the props served a near-enough identical purpose, so they could be combined into one prop. But it doesn’t make sense for Singularity’s printers to also be, say, Plague’s fountains.
Not to mention that it’s strange to me how killer props don’t have priority over chests, but that’s a different topic.
Maybe have them spawn as a set side by side? I don't know, there's probably some OP combo that people could figure out to make that not work, but I can't think of anything off the top of my head.

It depends on the context. If you are going after someone who was just removed from a hook, I'd say no, it's not fair. If you go out of your way to hook someone until they die, again no. If you find someone who was unhooked last, but they are out of position or are goading you into chasing them, then yes it's fair.

Pretty sure there's going to be a new map. They wouldn't have shown all those glamour shots of the ship if there wasn't. I can't really think of any chapters where they showed off a location so much and it not be a map they add.
As for power it could honestly be anything. Likely this Xenomorph is based on, if not THE, one from the first movie, so stealth could be a key element.
There is definitely going to be a survivor with this chapter so it could be Ripley or her daughter, though more than likely it'll be Ripley herself.
As for perks you got me. It's very hard to predict perks. Maybe if I thought more about things that are niche issues or fun fixes, but whose to say.

i like the idea as a whole. i think the killer could end up being very map dependant but that's an issue with the game as a whole. also i think some of the numbers for the add-ons need a bit of retuning and im not sure i understand what Iridescent Plant could help with - especially considering you don't indicate the radius around the walls of vines. the killer might need a third option for inflicting thorns on the survivors like some kind of m2 action he can perform on pallets and vaults so that when survivors interact with them they get a bunch of thorns (like plague vomiting on interactables).
the perks all seem pretty good to me except for topograhpy which does pale in comparison of just bringing a map with the add-on that lets everyone see your tracked objectives (i forget its name) and SH: Chrown of Thorns which in my opinion is not an interesting design. punishing survivors for rescuing teammates by slowing them down will just end up feeling unfair.
other than that, really solid chapter concept! im not a fan of ai but i appreciate that you included illustrations.
This was a concept I've been working on for over a year now (I think, geez). I'm constantly changing things and rewriting stuff. I added the AI as a placeholder for what I would actually want them to look like.
Yeah, I could see it being pretty map dependent. That's an issue I've been trying to think about.
Thanks for the feedback, though. It's great to get criticism to address things I might have overlooked.

Changed Extende Grasp into a Scourge Hook perk and changed its effect.
-
Changed a couple perks, added AI mock ups of what I think the characters look like, and edited the power slightly.

Brilliant! I love it!

Didn’t realize that Deep Wound was healed faster by another Survivor. How fast is it healed by another survivor, is it instant?
The problem with Deep Wound is that a self-sourced skill-check to make it go faster just cuts down off of whatever existing balance there is on its current timer.
Perhaps you could let Survivors interact with a specific map prop to seal/cauterize the Deep Wound, such that they could sit and mend to take up time, or they could run to a point, taking up time.
Not sure how much faster, but if it takes 12 seconds by yourself I think it's like 8 seconds. Also, it doesn't even have to be skill checks make it heal faster, just more interactive. Maybe you get random skill checks with it that decrease the timer if you miss it and doesn't pertain to healing. I don't know, just an idea.
-
Hex: Blackout: This Hex spawns at the beginning of the trial. After 100 seconds all generators are blocked for 60 seconds or until this hex is cleansed and survivor auras are revealed for 5/6/7 seconds. After this perk deactivates the hex totem becomes a dull totem.
Boon: Uneven Terrain: Increase the wiggle progression while being carried in the boon radius by 9%/12%/15%.
-
I don't think it's just a matter of looking at his pick rate and kill rate to decide when he needs to be reworked, BHVR also needs the approval of the owners of Myers before any changes go through (I assume.) He's not an orginal character and is also the first licensed character so who knows what kind of red tape BHVR has to get around to rework him.

@Milo said:
It could work. But at the same time, would they all stack? Because if so, that could be hilarious to look at.
You bet they'd stack. Although, maybe it's just an occasional animation that gives away what status it is, that way you're not running around with all your limbs flopping about.
-
@Cleverotter said:
more animations = better
That was my thought. I know most killer exclusive status effects have ways of knowing another survivor is effected by them (Nemesis's blue contamination, Plagues green sickness, Doctor's madness animations, etc.) So it would just make sense to have all the general status effects have some as well.

Evil Incarnate - after over a dozen frustrating attempts that were all thwarted by "clever" lockerplay, I was down to my last two iri tombstones and and lock of hair and I did the scummiest thing: I tanked my MMR for a good couple of games and ended up om Auto Haven with two decent and two baby survivors. Well, the babies were easily stalked out of all their juice and then I killed off the first good survivor. The second one made a run for a locker, but was caught a good bit before he could reach it.
The baby survivor's didn't know what had happened and went both down to my knife. When that Feng ran away in abject terror over the whole ground and then got picked up by Myers, I felt bad and empty, followed by the warm, fuzzy feeling of elation and bliss.
The long and arduous quest was finally over and I had conquered all there was to conquer about Myers. I had stooped to a new low, but on the way to becoming the Evil you gotta kill your own humanity until all that's left is but a hollow shape. A shape that could only be described as a man in the most broadest and incomplete words.
You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.
-
I don't think it's a good idea. In theory, it would be cool and add more uniqueness to each survivor, but in practice it can add some "pay to win" factors as well as cause people to gravitate toward the most "optimal" survivor.
If anything, I'd want to see maybe 4 cookie cutter roles that could be assigned to each survivor. (Btw, very little thought has been put into this so take this with a field of salt).
"Leaders" who do generators 1% faster and have better aura reading.
"Runners" who vault 1% faster and have scratch marks spread out a little more.
"Healers" who heal other survivors 1% faster and have slightly quieter grunts of pain.
"Saviors" who sabotage hooks 1% faster and blind killers slightly longer.
Just small buffs that realistically won't have too much of an impact and can be assigned to different survivors semi randomly.
Again, I don't think it's a good idea to give survivors individual skills or buffs and I hope they don't, but if they did I'd want it to just be small things that assign a certain "role".

Meme.
Bring all stealth perks on Ghostface. Bring perks that cause the Obsession to switch. Bring perks that you would never bring otherwise or that you haven't seen killers bring in a while.
Play off-meta killers like Legion and just stab the whole game. Play Hillbilly and receive lots of praise because no one plays Hillbilly. Play Pig and just let people go if they "boop your snoot".
My point is not that playing to win isn't fun, but winning while not trying is even more fun. Embrace the challenge of handicapping yourself in goofy ways.
Meme.

Piss bottles need to activate faster or instantly for you with a delay for survivors. Also, separate ammo for bottles would help.

Trickster:
ULTIMATE ADD ONs:
Iridescent Blade Sharpener [Special one of a kind blades that are sharper. Ji-Woon Hak only uses them on occasion.] : Reduce the number of blades needed to reduce health states by 3. Trickster max number of held blades set to 25.
Iridescrent Jacket: [Ji Woon Hak's special stage jacket when he debuted] Survivors don't recover from laceration meter. (edited)
Oni
ULTIMATE ADD ons
Iridescent Kanabo: if the survivor has atleast one hook state, gain the ability to instantly mori them if you knock them down with demon strike.
Renjiro's spirit: Charge time for Yamaoka's Wrath is removed. Now instantly be able to dash. Significantly increases time to charge. Gain 25% more blood orbs.
rate these
Iri Blade Sharpener sounds like Tricksters version of Iri Hatchet. Definitely an addon for more advanced players. 8/10
Iri Jacket does sound interesting, though if I were to balance it (not that it should, that the point of the hypothetical next tier) I'd reduce the throw speed and decrease the amount of charges for main event. 7/10
Iri Kanabo is unique, but stupid OP. I get it's supposed to be that Oni is so angry he ends the trial earlier, and it has shades of Myers in there as well, but it's still very powerful. 6/10
Ranjiro's Spirit is okay. It took me a minute to understand what it actually did. It's like a better Topknot. I could see that being useful, but at the same time, Oni already has very boring addons that just increase in value, so it's not that interesting. 4/10
Also, because this is the ULTIMATE tier of add-ons, instead of "Iridescent", how about calling them something else? Like "Hollowed" or "Twisted", something morbid, but fun.

the iri add-on are suppose to be ultimate add-on's. killer have 2 add-on slots, so each iri add-on is equal to those slots. its just add-on in dbd are highly spammable so the term very-rare translates into everything being common.
when they weakened BBQ/we're gonna live forever, player cried about it. as a result, they reduce bloodpoint of blood web by 33% making everything spammable in both survivor and killer bloodweb in conjunction with black ward and pudding/blood party streamers. for that reason, iri add-on do not feel too special in dbd.
I'm not a dev, I'm a player with an overactive imagination for dumb "what ifs". I don't actually want them to add anything like this into the game as it would undoubtably be highly problematic. This is just a fun creative thread to get away from all the negativity.

Oni
Ultimate Add-on- father's corpse
Survivors no longer drop blood orbs
Decreases the time yamaoka's wrath takes to recharge to 20 seconds
Decrease ls the duration of demon fury to 30 seconds
You no longer drain yamaoka's wrath when you down a survivor with demon fury or while using demon dash
Survivors who are injured by any means are inflicted with hemorrhage and mangled status effects
You need blood orbs to fully charge his power, otherwise it sits at like 99%. At that point I'd just make it so Blood Fury activates automatically after 20 seconds.

wow that would be an insane balance, hope they do that.
Imagine if survivors were able to vault a window infinitely without getting blocked, how busted that would be compared.
You're giving me Vietnam flashbacks man.

Play With You Food can help. However, in all honesty the examples you've listed don't need more map mobility. They have plenty of lethality in 1v1 situations and allowing them the ability to get around the map faster would just break them.
If Cannibal was able to get around the map faster, he'd be like a more reliable Hillbilly. They already have plenty of overlapping with their powers, they don't need more.
Trickster, maybe. I could see Main Event being changed into something like mobility based upgrade, but still he can down survivors pretty fast if your competent enough. (Btw I'm definitely not.)
Clown already has his yellow bottles for a bit of extra speed. I know it doesn't seem like much, and it's not, but his primary focus is hindering survivors with his pink bottles.
I'll go on record in saying that Shape needs a complete rework. His age is showing and while all the other Year 1 killers have received some tweaks or changes he hasn't. Does he need more mobility? I don't know, because he needs an update and it's hard to judge him without it.

Hmm...I was going to say I don't have much, but that might be a lie.
Unless they are done well...any "horror" characters from Marvel or DC. While I'm sure there are a few that would be lovely to have (Man-Thing, The Violator, Manbat, Carnage etc...) I don't think the owners of said licenses would let them shine that well in DbD.
For reasons that do not need to be stated...Jeepers Creepers. Do your own research, that's all I'll say.
I'm on the fence...FNAF and Scooby Doo. I see all sides of the arguement, I'm just waiting on the results.
I don't know how they would...Slenderman or any other horror character from the internet. I just don't understand who you would talk to about getting the license.
Other than that, there isn't many that I would be completley against.

Nurse plus clown, teleport to where the bottles land
Ghostface and nemesis, i just think its funny imagining nemmy teabagging
Oni plus legion, yes
Hag plus pyramid head, because I'm evil
And finally, freddy and dredge, its nighttime, go to sleep
Edit: forgot huntress and twins, where you reload victor at lockers
Pig + Bubba = Baby Chainsaw. Love it.
Nurse + Clown = Pop Up Clinic. Also cool.
Ghostface + Nemesis = Jumpscare STAAAARRRSSSSS. Maybe the tentacle can wrap around corners now?
Oni + Legion = Blood Zoomies. The more blood he collects, the faster his frenzy becomes.
Hag + Pyramid Head = Jumpscare Trail. Maybe you create a hag trap wherever you start a trail of torment?
Freddy + Dredge = Ultimate Nightmare. For every survivor that's asleep, you can teleport to lockers and generators faster.
Side note: I really need to start cataloging all these, because this stuff is fun and interesting to think about.

@Blue_Archer33 said:
Ooo!! This is a thread idea that I am obsessed with.
Because I love Silent Hill (and specifically Pyramid Head) I'll start there. With lore-accurate combos.
Executioner + Nemesis: PH roams as normal in addition to Bubble Head nurses as "zombies" that inflict torment in hits. Killing a nurse as PH causes Undetectable.
Executioner + Dredge: PH roams as normal. instead of NightFall, summon an intensely thick fog. Instead of teleporting between lockers, teleport (assimilate) in front of non-active cage locations.
Executioner + (old) Doctor: switch between The Great Knife's Torment mode and The Great Spear's Punish mode. The Great Knife can leave trails to inflict torment, but no longer shoots POTD. Has small lunge. The Great Spear can insta-down tormented survivors, has great range, but long miss cooldown.
If you all like these maybe I'll do more. I also LOVE the other horror MOVIE characters so I could try to do lore-accurate combos with them, too.
I love all of these. Very creative ways of incorporating other characters to fill out new lore based powers. Although, I do also like to imagine what they look like combined together. XD

The Swamp and Red Forest. Both sets of maps still haven't had any sort of "Realm Beyond" visual update and have things frustrating to deal with for both sides. Not to mention they can't accommodate newer killer powers because they haven't been designed with them in mind. The best one out of the 4 is probably Temple of Purgation, but that's still a pretty low bar.

Personally, I think that complete silence should be conditional or have a downside along with it.

Worst map for Dredge is definitely Rotten Fields. Very few lockers and very spaced out generators.
Best is probably Lery's. Lots of lockers spread out fairly evenly.
-
Short answer: No
Long answer: That's a more complicated question than you realize. As it is an asymmetrical game, TRUE balance is and always will be impossible. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. To me at least it makes things interesting.
However, generally speaking, DBD is more balanced than it has been in the past.
-
@Carth said:
It would probably be as frustrating to balance as dark theory. Other than blindness what kind of stuff can they do? Slow killer/reduce lunge range/make hits not count? All of those are beyond frustrating to deal with and if the method of application is via blinding/stunning/booning the killer would not have much say/ability to do anything except suffer the debuff.
They don't have to be one to one with survivors. There could be a secondary way to get rid of effects. You are right that it would need to be balanced carefully.

- Exhaust killer
- Bring to strong/god pallet
- Autowin if they don’t have a way to bypass pallet/use power to break at different set speed
You could just make it a one time thing. Either wait out the clock or get ride of it by kicking a gen or pallet once. The status effects don't have to be one to one with survivors.
-
@Regulus47 said:
I'd love that. Hindered after pallet stuns to reward good play in chase, Incapacitated (unable to kick gens, walls, vault, pick up survivors, etcetera), maybe even a special kind of Exposed where the killer can't use their power for a short time. Might give killers like nurse actual counterplay.
I think if balanced well it could be very dynamic to play with and against. Killer Blindness is already kind of meh though. It's not exactly difficult to remember where gens are, usually killers aren't getting aura reveals while in chase (which is where haddie's perk activates) and it doesn't even hide scratch marks. Hiding scratch marks would be super powerful, but given the short duration of the Blindness, I don't think it'd be oppressive, especially not with blood pools and footstep sounds and tracking perks and game sense to help the killer.
While I think denying the Killer access to their power would be unfair (some killers have strange powers that I don't know how it would interact with them) I do like the other suggestions. Even a 1% Hindered effect could be helpful in chase.
-
That's actually not a bad idea.
