  • Oh I love me some Pyramid Head terror radius specifically. It's just so good

  • Perhaps a BHVR take on The Labyrinth from Hellraiser?

    The Overlook Hotel.

I know Indoor maps are notriously terrible, but still. I would love to wander through the Overlook. One of the most iconic horror locations, as far as I'm concerned.

Unfortunately, I don't think The Shining would work well as a chapter.

I was looking for this comment before I'd say it, myself. I would LOVE for this. Easter Eggs abound.

  • Two GhostFaces on Haddonfield would essentially just be a reenactment of the original Scream 🤣

  • Love this thread.

Other noteworthy weapons actually used in DBD: summoned hook chains, telekinetic/curse, and oversized kitchen knife (as well as the metal it raises from the ground)

  • You know, this recent trend of discussing how overpowered Eruption is has been surprising to me. At first, during the RE release, I thought that this perk was cool in concept but very hard in practice ESPECIALLY for Killers that have a hard time with traversal.

  • This is precisely why I love PH, Sadako, and Pig so much. They have kits that are fun to play to begin with, but have such a good payoff if you can pull off their built-in kills.

  • Correction: Sending out guards does not spend stacks of Play With Your Food. If you can pull off hits from guards, you never have to lose your movement speed bonuses by using your power.

**additional correction: Forced Penance. The perk does not DIRECTLY trigger from the Knight's itself, but often will by it's application. It is situational, but common if used correctly. If the Knight targets a guard to start a chase with an already injured survivor (say, Meg) while another survivor (say, Bill) is nearby. If the Knight chases Meg in cooperation with the guard, a LOT of people in Bill's situation will take the protection hit from The Knight as you close in on Meg. The hit came from The Knight, which triggers FP. The guard simply acts as the force of threat that influences the survivor (Bill) to act altruistically. Step 3: Profit.

here's the problem. if the survivor has no aura reading, then this perk cannot trigger because survivor never screams so you never get undetectable.

if you want a perk that counters aura-reading on the killer, it is a hex perk. the perk is called hex:third seal. It applies blindness status effect. Blindness currently disables all aura-reading capacity.

I know that H:TS exists, but when I came up with this idea it was in response to me asking "What would distortion look like if it was designed for Killer?"

Lmao I mean everyone could use some editorial awareness I suppose

  • Absolutely A - impatient waving my arms like "HELLO! Nobody is gonna help me??"

  • You're right, and I remember it being this way the past few Halloween events. Discordance l/Surveillance/Call of Brine makes the gens a brighter yellow than the orange-yellow they are colored with for the event. It's hard, but a sharp eye to color tone and sense of using the perk's info is key for using those perks during this event. Wish they could've done something different in color, but hey.

    1.The Thing

-Shapeshifting Killer would be rendered powerless against SWF unless bhvr can find a way around it.

    2.Anything related to Stephen King

-There hasn't been a single Stephen King video game in the last 4 decades, so i don't see why there would be any coming to dbd anytime soon.

3.Any niche license that isn't well enough known.

-BHVR wants to make back the money they've spent making a dlc and so niche licenses are a gamble if it ain't got enough recognition.

    4.Child's Play

-Mathieu Cote has doubled down recently on Chucky being too silly to join dbd.

In response to the Stephen King part:

Wholeheartedly agree. Especially considering the AMOUNT of content he creates alone, I'd be surprised if we never get any sort of content in DBD from him. There's so much diversity in his works even despite the argument that psychic powers are central to the majority of his commonly known works.

I commented on this earlier, but Rose The Hat could be such an amazing addition as Killer, grown Danny Torrence as survivor, and the Overlook Hotel as the map. Just as one idea, but there are so many.

    Candyman

Base on both the original and the latest movie too. Survivor is Anthony McCoy, killer is 'The Candyman' who is also Anthony McCoy, same character in both roles. Legendary skins for Tony Todd's version of Candyman and Helen Lyle. Cabrini-Green could make a good map but realistically I wouldn't expect this chapter to have a map.

    The Shining

But I think it would work better being based on Doctor Sleep. Survivor is adult Danny Torrance, killer is 'The Hat', both can have powers/perks revolving around the shining and physic powers. In this case, you couldn't not have The Overlook as a new map. (I'm sorry, I just don't see Jack Torrance working as a killer)

    Alien

What more needs to be said? My version would be Ellen Ripley with Amanda Ripley and Arthur Dallas as a legendary skin. 'The Xenomorph' as killer obviously.

Imagine The Hat having a somewhat similar mechanic to Oni where injuring a survivor harvests "steam" and injured survivors leave trails of "steam" to feed her psychic powers that build with intensity throughout the match. Or powers that use the steam as fuel.

  • I think we should have more Pyramid Head players in general because I freaking love it 🤣

  • Why do so many people reply so cynically if the Killer messages the Survivors or vice versa with real sportsmanship? Even if I curb stomp the survivors and they still played well despite losing, I'll say "Good Game, friends :) you played well."

Why do so many people snap back at this? Like sorry for trying to be polite and fight how toxic this fanbase is? Guess I'll just not compliment you on your playing?

I feel its should be lullaby while awake TR while asleep lullaby is trash it gives away location you don't know direction but you know distance also you cant go undetectable and TR perks don't work while asleep and maybe no skill check warning you are asleep after all i feel it should be annoying to do stuff while asleep

    @jesterkind said:

    Twofold.

First, make snares and dream pallets basekit. They share an ammo pool and can be swapped like Clown's bottles, the ammo pool is slightly increased to compensate.

Second comes the big part. A complete addon overhaul that prioritises giving Freddy different illusory objects with different effects, ranging from extremely situational ones like chests all the way up to extremely impactful ones like fake generators and fake lit totems. Touching these cause them to melt away, and higher tiers of the addons could also inflict status effects.

The reason I say to make these addons instead of all a part of his kit is both to allow more options without his kit becoming way too cluttered, and also so that survivors don't know going in what he has available. They have to fall asleep and actually touch one before they'll know he has it... or prioritise waking up so they don't have to.

I think these two are the most important ideas here. Switching TR to Dream World so that lullaby is for awake survivors would be HUGE.

Likewise, snares and dream pallets together as basekit is a big step in the right direction along with certain addons allowing for further hallucinations in Dream World like fake gens, lit totems or chests until interaction. This would be MASSIVE for making Freddy viable

I've had an idea that uses Trail of Torment with Mint Rag. Trail a gen, go Undetectable, teleport to a trap somewhere else entirely.

Haven't worked it out fully, though. And the teleport sound itself can be a warning to attentive survivors.

I've utilized the same idea for Dredge, Wesker, and Sadako. Select a gen for ToT, and teleport/dash away while using the long stealth to mislead.

Even scratched mirror Myers can be pretty easily heard (once you know it's him and a re really listening), and that's pretty much the pinnacle of DBD stealth.

But SM Myers is also the most fun, imo. It's always a good time, unless you're a surv main with a weak ticker or bladder.

Sadako can also be hella fun, but they need to get rid of her "lullaby".

Very fair. Many Killers having naturally loud breathing/presence makes utilizing the stealth a harding thing to do. However! More of the focus of my original point was emphasize how stealth can be used to jump scare predictable survivors in chase/approach.

For example, I was playing (Wesker?) chasing a survivor on RPD West Wing when I struck the survivor to trigger Hysteria. He was running toward the back porch (with the crashed helicopter) and I predicted that he'd run down the steps and enter the hall on ground floor with the pallet. So, I jumped down to ground floor (deactivating chase music to mislead that I broke chase) and stood at the doorway I knew he'd go to. I hid the red stain by taking a step back and listened to the footsteps run down the metal staircase outside. He turned the corner and I downed him by jumpscare. Regardless of loud breathing or not, that survivor thought I broke chase and I took advantage.

THAT'S my favorite use for stealth, and my favorite to go against for the fear of it.

  • I've always been an advocate for FP. Pair it with STBFL, Hysteria, maybe Sloppy or maybe even Blood Echo? Make the injuries MEAN SOMETHING. Make them a THREAT.

  • I want this post to get more attention. I support this because nothing beats earning that sick, cinematic more. Also some early moris suck and should be reworked - a position that I believe we all agree on.

  • Remember the excitement of Killers first getting their own Terror Radius music? Not just menu music, but IN-GAME unique Terror Radius and Chase music? As a person who greatly appreciates music and SFX diversity, this was revolutionary when we KEPT getting Killers with their own TR and even Killers retroactively getting these changes. Now you can tell what Killer is approaching (normally) by what music swells up.

It used to be a secret until the Killer fully revealed themself to you!!

I've been wanting some short sprint for a killer for awhile now. I really hoped the Event Blight Serum was a test on this and we'd see it soon enough.

If instead we go bandaid fixes like BHVR likes with perks, pls give us something like

    Anticipation

While not in a chase, gain a 8%/9%/10% Haste effect. Deactivate after starting a chase.

Cooldown of 60 seconds after deactivating.

I think that this is a wonderful idea if they continue to go on the route of bandaids thru perks.

Ah, man - you're bringing me back by saying that you're currently learning Ghostie. At least you're learning him now that his addons have been reworked and buffed! He's so much fun and has some really good payoff. What kind of builds are you running on him? Want/need any advice or suggestions for him??

  • You make interesting points, and I do think that Sadako remains an interesting outlier from the stealth Killers. Sadako is the only heavily-Stealth Killer that has a lullaby. Her stealth isn't outright stealth because of this. Because of this lack, she makes up with a shorter terror radius and lullaby as well as her intermittent visibility like Spirit and her invisibility at a range like Freddy.

It would be boring if we had every Stealth Killer being too similar to one another. Right?

  • @Devilishly_Rowdy said:

The "buffs" are making zero differences in my matches. But i'm sure it makes a difference against absolute baby survivors.

I respectfully and kindly disagree. The small changes they made to buff killers like shorter haste duration after hits, shorter hit cooldown, shorter break durations, gen mini-pop after damage, it is all adding up to help. I, personally at least, certainly feel these differences because I love playing Killer a lot.

These changes had to have influenced the increase in kill rate at least a LITTLE, right? Sure we got a new Killer with new perks and other changes that could've influenced the kill rate change, they're just confounding variables in this discussion.

Point is, if even if you personally cannot feel the change of stats during the gameplay, it is definitely making an impact on Killer's efficiency which was really needed. You see what I mean?

Lots of people really be hating on FNAF, but that'd be cool being real.

hope we dont see any license of normal people. I'd prefer some sort of actual monsters or more unique looking killers or survivors. Like Wesker. He's just a guy with a tentacle....ya know. It just not that cool.

Although I understand the desire for some characters that are really just.. HUMAN... I wholeheartedly agree with you. I want more diversity as much as possible.

Having icons like Hannibal Lecter, Norman Bates, Jack Torrence, and MANY others would be VERY cool... but they're just humans with a few identifying traits. Right? Couldn't it be so much cooler if we get more diversity that add a more inhuman population to the Killer roster?

Lol this kind of response from you is why I love seeing your name pop up on threads

  • I don't know if I have a license that I specifically don't want to see. I love seeing BHVR's incorporation of other content into their own. I was skeptical of Pyramid Head's implementation, of GhostFace, of Demo, of PinHead, of Sadako, and... say what you will about balance and representation, but BHVR is just ballin for giving us a gallery of iconic characters all within one multiplayer game.

TLDR I think I'd just love to see BHVR take a stab at using any content that isn't theirs.

Whilst I'm enjoying seeing what you'd all like to see in DbD - lets keep it within the rules here please. Thankies!

Thank you, Mandy. You are greatly appreciated.

  • Ooo!! This is a thread idea that I am obsessed with.

Because I love Silent Hill (and specifically Pyramid Head) I'll start there. With lore-accurate combos.

Executioner + Nemesis: PH roams as normal in addition to Bubble Head nurses as "zombies" that inflict torment in hits. Killing a nurse as PH causes Undetectable.

Executioner + Dredge: PH roams as normal. instead of NightFall, summon an intensely thick fog. Instead of teleporting between lockers, teleport (assimilate) in front of non-active cage locations.

Executioner + (old) Doctor: switch between The Great Knife's Torment mode and The Great Spear's Punish mode. The Great Knife can leave trails to inflict torment, but no longer shoots POTD. Has small lunge. The Great Spear can insta-down tormented survivors, has great range, but long miss cooldown.

If you all like these maybe I'll do more. I also LOVE the other horror MOVIE characters so I could try to do lore-accurate combos with them, too.

  • Do we know that this is retroactively applied? Because I really want Baba Yaga, Doll Dredge and Minotaur but this says "GOING FORWARD."

Either way, this is WONDERFUL news, but I PRAY that it will be applied to previous ones.

  • @TheWheelOfCheese said:

It is worth it, absolutely. Not as good as Blight's rush, but it's still very good even taking charge/recovery into account.

Consider that using it in chase after landing a hit can almost immediately gain you back all of the distance the survivor gained from the hit speed boost, if the survivor ran in a straight line away from you. That's a lot of distance gain in a short time.

This is precisely how I get the best value out of the power.

However (and as I probably should've specified in the original post) I meant to ask if using the Bounds for map traversal OUTSIDE of chase helps much at all. In-chase bounds are great.

  • Depends on your playstyle and what you like to bring to the table for the team!

    So, I ask you:

What theme of builds do you find yourself enjoying the most?

  • To be honest, I do a lot of forgetting about individual survivor-and-their-perk thinking whenever I play Killer. I normally just think of which survivor perks might trigger in the scenarios I'm causing, and which of those might hurt my progression the most.

Perhaps that is because I have played this game for years and that's just a habit that helps me to win, or because when I play survivor I play a specific character because they're a character I enjoy from a specific license and have nearly all teachables possible anyway.

The issue with Empathic Connection is that solo queue teammates are as likely to use that info to screw me over as they are to benefit from knowledge of my activities. Or maybe it's not as likely, it's more like a 1/4 chance of someone in a match being a dipstick instead of using the information intelligently, but that's still too often. Can't count how many times a player will be looping far away from me, and as soon as they get injured, they beeline in my direction and try to pass the killer off on me. Or they run to me to get healed the second they escape chase, but then it turns out they maybe lost chase for 5s and jumped the gun when their scratch marks were still being followed at a distance.

And I don't really have room on my build for both without losing either the kickass heals or OTR, so it's going to be one or the other. I'll have to see. Empathic Connection is great when it works, but I'm really tired of the sandbagging. Empathy would help me see it coming, but it wouldn't stop it.

This is a very fair point. But you don't exactly have to lose out on the kickass healing! Pair Autodidact with the double Empathy combo. In fact, finishing it with Solidarity is one of my favorite builds ever.

  • @Laluzi said:

I might swap Empathic Connection for Empathy on my healer build and give it a whirl. The heat-seeking missile property you mentioned has brought as many sandbagging teammates to my gen with the killer on their heels as it has people looking for some sweet sweet backrubs. And being able to find an injured survivor to help escort them to the gates would be very useful to me - I often run around aimlessly looking for the TR in that scenario and Empathy would help quite a bit. Thanks for reminding me it exists!

Don't swap out Empathetic Connection for Empathy. Try running them simultaneously for really good two-way comms

  • Thank you for your comments, especially for being so kind.

I was aware that she was running this, and how the add on works (since I love playing Sadako) but our portraits still had the static background effect on them even after removing the tape. I thought that the RING effect on the portraits indicated that we had building Condemnation, not the static effect background.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Hmmmm.

The new lobby music for Rebecca and Ada is very good.

Jill and Leon have it, too!! As well as the occasional voiceline in-lobby!

  • I've been trying out a few builds but the one I started to get some successful matches with was:

    -A Nurse's Calling

    -Awakened Awareness

    -Hex: Plaything

    -Brutal Strength

But maybe my increased success is as I get used to Wesker's power. We'll see!

  • It's been said before, but apparantly it needs to he said again.

You can't perfectly capture every part of a character that everyone will want to see when you add that character to a new game. You know what will? The game they are from. Play them instead.

Sure, it's reasonable for us to want our favorite characters to be as accurate as POSSIBLE when they're added to DBD, but a perfect representation will never happen.

Pyramid Head doesn't run or draw using his knife. Yet he does in DBD.

Sadako doesn't harm you before your time is up. Yet she does in DBD. (not to mention the cursed tape mechanic not making sense lore-wise).

Pinhead doesn't harm you before you try to solve the Lament Configuration. Yet he does in DBD.

Freddy can't harm you before you're in the dream world. Yet he does in DBD (now, at least. RIP original Freddy).

I can go on, but you get the point - Characters have to be reduced a bit to fit into the concept of the game. It doesn't have to be all-or-nothing either like you say, DarkTyrant. Sure, I'd love for that terror of a slowly approaching Pyramid Head that can kill me in one swipe if he reaches me, but the way he is adapted into DBD is also very fun because it is adapted to fit the game.

  • @versacefeng said:

  • Can you imagine the impossibility of facing a Pyramid Head paired with either Trapper or Hag?

  • Dead By Daylight:

New Killer: The Spouse Suffocater (James Sunderland)

    New Survivor: Red Pyramid Boi

  • If you read the Dev Update, it said that the nerf was to address how abuse-able the perk was. Sure, they can make decisions for other reasons than they state, but was this decision not cut and dry? They make decisions to actively AVOID rewarding facecamping. Further along in the post, they even said that the Borrowed Time base-kit was doing so well in their eyes for avoiding tunneling and camping that they **extended it**

Did you just read this one part of the Dev Update saying Reassurance was nerfed and stop reading to make this post?

  • Yes, it was certainly a problem right at the time of the RE chapter. I feel like it was normally just with Nemesis matches, but that observation might've just been because SO MANY people were playing Nemesis.

Welcome to DBD, though!! 😁 and don't listen to what most people on this forum say. It really feels like 95% of the people complaining and trash talking on this forum are the side of the fanbase that uses the forum after bad matches.

If you ever need Survivor/Killer advice, please do reach out and never be afraid to ask! 😊 Especially if you need a medic survivor to team up with.

  • I get what everyone else here is saying but I'd be really sad if Nemmy lost his zombies. They're normally so fun and unique on both sides of the gameplay.

    I agree with this wholeheartedly
