Not even the embodiment of punishment (Pyramid Head) managed to do it, wouldn't expect much from Ringu.
I actually disagree with this. (At least to me) PH is one of the only killers in this game that brings a genuine sense of horror into the match. Between his masterfully composed Terror Radius and chase music, very threatening attacks, extra lethality at death hooks, and strategic use of trails (if the person playing him uses him efficiently)... they all add up to how threatening he is - which is scary.

Thanks for the event summary, @MandyTalk !! I appreciate you as usual ๐

I did for a while, with the exception of Surge on M1 killers, plus Plaything+Retribution being one of my favorite combinations of perks currently. Penti fits nicely into this - but I'm also in love with Pain Resonance. I tend towards being info+stealth+aggression heavy, so perks that allow me to gain regression while doing my usual thing are very much my speed.
I also absolutely love Pain Resonance. Do me a favor and try out: Pain Resonance + Dead Man's Switch + Surveillance

Another fun Artist synergy is taking Iron Maiden - jump into a locker to insta-repel my birds, will you? :)
Same for hopping in a locker to dodge Doctor's Static Blast. Works so well ๐

Yes and no. It still works out. Spend a lot of time booning active totems then.
Also the play to go to is only keep one token active and leave the rest broken(you can keep the healing speed/etc) Once they boon your pentimento totem. You rekindle a other one. Usually multiple totems will be broken before they notice your pentimento.
Or they leave plaything up. Which is a win too.
My thoughts exactly. I'm leaving either one or two totems up (preferably two to slow down heals) and saving the others for backup replacements.
-
@SeannyD115 said:
It's a good way to get Pentimento value. If you run just one hex they could just boon it and you would get no value of of the perk.
I've been running it too.
Right. That's the one main issue I've seen with this build (and specifically Pentimento) but I've been seeing how much it helps to specifically target and apply pressure on the survivor that is running boons so that the survivors who DON'T have boons are available to break the totems for me
-
JUST posted it. Hex:Plaything with Hex:Pentimento on Artist (have yet to test it on anyone else so far. It may he catastrophic on Pinhead)
-
That's actually very clever, I'll try and test it out today if I have DMS on her ๐
I came on here to post about another (different) synergy I discovered with her last night. Check that out!

Never forget.
Just like the Epstein jokes, I refuse to let this be forgotten lmao

As an avid player of both sides, I think that this makes it a lot more fun and intimidating. The ability to risk a shot through the wall with certain killers adds a level of intimidation that the other killers just don't have.
-
Oh, I have a few good ones.
- I once thought that Urban Evasion and Bitter Murmur were the best perks to see on the bloodweb.
- In my first few survivor matches, I'd bring flashlights because I thought that it would allow me to see in the dark.
Let me think of some of my other day-one misconceptions
-
Or!! You can practice your stealth ability *without* using perks for it, and emphasize your goal to be helpful. Such as an hook save build, or general medic build.
My current favorite of such is:
--Self Care (Claudette)
--Botany Knowledge (Claudette)
--Desparate Measures (Felix)
-- We'll Make It (general) /OR/ Circle of Healing (Mikaela) /OR/ Blood Pact (Cheryl)
However, since you're newer, you could try a medic build like this:
--Botany Knowledge (Claudette)
--We'll Make It (general)
--Kindred (general) /OR/ Empathy (Claudette) /OR/ Bond (Dwight) to easily find those to heal and stick with thru auras
-
Reviewing your preferences and considering you're new-ish and I reccomend this:
--Self-Aware-- (general perk: used to be Nancy's "Fixated" use to recover exhaustion while stealthy)
--Sprint Burst-- (Meg teachable) /OR/ --Lithe--(Feng teachable since you like her)
--Kindred-- (general perk)
--choose a perk to finish your playstyle. Reccomend: --Windows of Opportunity--(Kate's teachable since you like her *and* it benefits your chase ability) /or/ --We'll Make It-- (general perk)
-
Bubba.
Bubba always freaking manages to kill me in every single trial. The funny thing is that I don't even know why. I've improved greatly as a survivor this past year, but Bubba players *specifically* always manage to kill me.
That, and I struggle against Pinhead. Likely because I've only gone against like 3 of them. I'm not sure why.. I LOVE playing BOTH as him and against him, I'm not sure why I never see him.
-
I mean.. you said it yourself, right? It's considerably the most powerful anti-tunnel survivor perk.. so why should it NOT have some form of cost to activate?
-
These debates are about to be as good as the ones triggered by Dave Chappelle. Let's watch ๐

I'm open to it. He definitely needs an add on pass.
M2 should apply torment either at base or with an add-on.
Rotation with M2 needs to be addressed and smoothed out a bit. It's so clunky it makes some hits literally impossible because the rotation angle is so high.
As an avid PyramidBoi main, I am so shocked with myself that I haven't thought of the idea of PotD applying Torment. What a good idea. This needs attention.
-
I know that I'm biased, but Pyramid Head is a hands-down pick. His chases are fun (with his punishment range-attack... that goes through walls..), the hazard trails are fun, and he has a freakin built-in mori.
I highly recommend.

@eleventbh said:
If you want to limit the range, make it take 14 seconds to relight it, and let survivors stomp it out in 2 seconds then sure.
This is actually the Devs' reasoning in the previous interview. They said that Killers don't get the ability to relight Hexes because when a survivor is running Boon totems they are limited by range, no stacking, and wasted time. Each of which can be considered a double edged sword by Killers.
For Killers, the effects of a Hex are immediately applied once prerequisites associated to it are met - AND the effect stretches universally. These effects, to paraphrase their response, influence the key functions of the trial (**a topic I'd like to debate about separately**). Thus- cleansing one of these "powerful" Hexes should be kept as permanent for that trial.
I'm not Survivor sided or Killer sided, and I understand this reasoning.

Blood pact?
People really dislike Blood Pact? Maybe I'm biased as a medic-build main, but I absolutely LOVE Blood Pact.
-
I actually love running DeathBound. Especially when paired with lvl3 Nurse's Calling. You are basically always aware of the progress of health:
--at close range, because of the aura, you can stop the heal before it finishes.
--at long range, you are alerted to where 2+ survivors hid away to heal, as well as encouraging them to stay together or else they're oblivious.
Wins all around for the Killer simply by injuring the survivors.
-
I normally don't run any. Even when I do, it's usually a gen-information perk such Surveillance, Discordance, or Tinkerer.
Why? I normally like to base my build around making injuries more threatening. Or stealth builds. Or a mix of the two, but more often than not I like to do the injury-builds. On both sides of gameplay, I find it more thrilling and engrossing when being injured by the killer is a greater threat because of perks being used by the killer.
-
You pose a great point by saying that not having at least 1 information perk feels like a great disadvantage. About JUST GENS though is where this gets interesting.
I, personally, love information perks in regards to HEALING so that being injured is much more of a threat to the survivors. Nurse's Calling is an obvious one, so that you can stop heals before a survivor goes up a state. DeathBound is a fun one. You get to know where survivors like to run off to hide so that they can heal up safely. If they heal and it doesn't Proc, the heal took place nearby. These two pair very well for a lot of mischief ๐
-
Slapping a survivor into dying state with your basic to hear several nearby gens explode with Surge ๐ feels good man

When James Sunderland makes his appearance here I expected all Pyramid Heads to tunnel the ######### out of him, until he repents his sins, when Pyramid Head will let him escape.
Doubt this will happen, but it would be great if Guy Cihi did his voice when he comes over!
Lmfao this right here. We're gonna need this.

Even more reason to run it when boons come out, especially if you can snuff a boon and re-apply plaything before it can be blessed again. Having fun with it on Pyramid Head when oblivious survivor stays on a gen and doesn't see the judgment attack coming.
Pair PH + Plaything WITH NURSE'S CALLING and you'll have some downright MEAN judgement attacks
-
I can certainly consider myself a Pinhead main. Now, of course, I always main the new Killers for a short period of time out of excitement to learn them and gain their teachables, but this was a NEW LEVEL of maining for Nemesis and now Pinhead.
And this says a lot about how fun/unique they are because I have been a devout Pyramid Head main since HIS release.
-
I absolutely LOVE running this as a slowdown. The survivor often doesn't care enough to cleanse the totem which leaves them potentially vulnerable for free hits. OR they want that totem gone asap (which can be guarded so that ONLY THEY are struggling to get to it) which creates a new objective to waste their time.
Absolutely love it. Love the concept of inflicting status effects on them individually that are linked to individual totems. As much as I love Third Seal, I hate that it gets wiped out for all 4 survivors with a SINGLE cleanse.
-
I think that the "SWF detected" buff idea is a good thing to consider, however small the effect that it gives the Killer.
I agree that the pressure to use gen defense builds is intense, but you can do other things! My favorite is to use builds that make injuries much more punishing. Maybe do an all-info build? Maybe do a stealth build? Maybe do a build that forces the survivors to do more objectives? You have options. Don't FORCE yourself to play the same matches over and over when you have the ability to spice it up.
-
I'm genuinely grateful for such a cool Killer addition. Good design overall.
I feel like your frustration stems from the fact that he has a rather high skill ceiling and that can very frustrating when one tries to reach but fails at - which is how practice WORKS. That, and the removed iconic voice lines, of course.

The build I'm using right now.
- WGLF
- Self Care
- Botany Knowledge
- Desperate Measures
Why I love this:
- Take a hit for some one for free stack, heal very quickly for Survival BP.
- Very fast pickup of slugs because of 3 healing perks.
- Botany Knowledge combined with Desperate Measures allows you to heal teammates very quickly, especially when multiple people are hurt.
Absolutely genius. Especially because I love maining my medic builds. Thanks for this!!
-
Before you know it, we're gonna be getting posts like:
A Nurse's Calling prevents me from being able to heal ๐ก๐ก
Bamboozle is unfair, it removes the window I wanna loop to vault 5 times ๐ก๐ก

Lmfao oh man that would be amazing. I'd want the most graphic and gorey gameplay possible with The Thing in the game.
-
I suppose it is so that the survivor holding the box has more of a target on their back. They're oblivious, have a personal chain hunt, and provide the box to Pinhead upon a down (or Franklin's). Downing the survivor holding the box is rather rewarding. I ALWAYS go after the one holding the box if they're close enough or comes across my path.

Based on lore and in game abilities who would win in a fight to the death?
Especially considering lore, Oni would obliterate Billy in seconds. He was a freakin samurai on a kill streak. Billy is just a redneck with a chainsaw and moans.

Having watched the first HellRaiser last night, I understand more of why Scourge Hook was a perk idea. But my original post still stands! I like that this perk is introducing a new window of opportunity for prop-alteration.

I don't recall Pinhead making innuendos.
Respectfully, the entire movie is a freakin innuendo.
-
I second this thought. I almost NEVER get actual use of Dragon's Grip unless paired with Trail of Torment. But even THAT is a stretch.
-
Once I discovered the usefulness of the build, I refuse to remove Forced Penance + Hysteria off of The Twins. Man, it MESSES with those survivors.
-
I don't think that I have EVER run Spirit without Nurse's. See the healing aura, take note of where they are, pretend to phase somewhere else, strike by surprise ๐
-
No particular order:
-A Nurse's Calling
-Forced Penance
-Deathbound
-Save The Best For Last
-BBQ
-StarStruck
-Make Your Choice
Yeah... I guess I love perks/builds to make injuries more punishing as well as punishing Altruism ๐

I feel like there's actually TOO much blood. HIs weapon gets all these weird veins all over it instead of just blood, and his apron goes from clean white to completely blood drenched. It'd look way better if it were closer to the Silent Hill game model, where the blood stains are thickest at the bottom and less noticable the higher up you go. Feels like they went way overboard and the effect made it less impressive than it could've been.
I mean, a fair point. Prestiged PH DEFINITELY looks like he is attempting his best Carrie cosplay. However! I appreciate the fact that we can earn a drastically different color to choose between. But then again, it would be just as unique if the prestige apron was still white with visible blood patterns on it like you mention. Similar to Michael's or GhostFace's prestige mask.

Oooo, I might have to do that, does his head change alot?
I actually haven't done the third one on him yet because I can't imagine his ALREADY red head changing much.
I DO, however, reccomend the bloodied body and hands for Demo. Especially since BOTH hands change, and they're BOTH constantly on-screen to appreciate.

And also i'd love to see charms available for all characters of the stickers of the characters from Doki Doki Literature Club. I think it's a really good psychological horror game so it'd be cool to see in this game in some capacity.
**SPOILER ALERT FOR DDLC**
Lmfao like they add Monika as a Killer to the game where she can glitch out the mechanics and slowly induce the survivors to unalive themselves.
Just Monika.
Just Monika.

Hangman's, Monsterous Shrine and Mindbreaker remain as the most useless and unused Perks for myself (off the top of my head)
I... can't fully agree on the Mindbreaker claim. Especially when paired with some form of stealth, popping up at a gen unannounced with all currently repairing survivors having exhaustion (or paused exhaustion) can be quite useful in my eyes.
