  • I think that the majority of this is really solid. The main subject of concern is the fact that Slenderman is known specifically for not moving when he is seen - an issue for DBD. A way to work around this is his iconic tentacles being revealed when he's seen as a form of attack/grab.

Other than this, I'd really like for more of his addons to be variations of that Iri Camera addon - making his playstyle feel more like his original.

Lastly, I actually really love those perks. I think that you did a great job with those ideas.

    Overall I loved your concept!!

  • I really like the concept of the main power being a brief "hot and cold" with your terror radius - very clever and unique. However, I'd buff the face-to-face secondary power since you'll almost never make full eye contact for longer than 3 seconds. As well as that, I'd suggest having the connection (mark) last longer than 6 seconds given that it's a tracking ability and you may not lose the marked survivor within 6 seconds of marking them.

Love the idea!! (Coming from an almost-in-graduate-school psychologist!)

  • Thank you for the link!! Been meaning to complete it!

  • Not sure either, but I'm placing a bookmark here to find out with you

  • Big fan of this, I thought it was dope. Great work!!

God, I wish I had BBQ.

I thought the same thing for ages until it finally showed up on the Shrine a while ago. I feel obligated to avoid buying Bubba but I'll buy all three of his perks from the Shrine as long as I catch them there.

  • I normally take a quick note of how many of the other survivors I can see and where, then act according to what I perceive as a priority (like if they're headed to the hook, headed to.another hook, on a gen I want to keep, on a hex totem, healing, etc). I basically never stay to guard if I don't count all 3. If there WAS a survivor within the hook's range, I'll probably just let em have it - they use up their time by risking the save while I immediately act upon interrupting another action that I know for certain is occurring elsewhere. Especially if I'm running Devour Hope ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

  • Imagine exploding this severely, then lashing out on others in a toxic manner all because of a HUD update, smoother animation update, and perk balances.

Honestly thought that this newest update was one of the most exciting and healthiest in a while. Pumped to have it released to consoles.

  • I love it!! Very unique. I think that this would bring some great variety into the game.

  • I've thought this for a while now. I have SO many flashlights that I'll never use. I only ever equip them to bring them into the match and hand them to others.

There's several maps I would want to see actually.

A church with a graveyard would be really cool imo.

If they ever did an Alien or Dead Space dlc, It would be awesome to be in a spaceship. (I really want the ubermorph and the USG Ishumura)

An abandoned carnival would be awesome, having a giant ferris wheel, all sorts of buildings to go into or just run around. Think of the L4D2 3rd level on Dark Carnival.

Some sort of map (maybe the cabin from Ash VS The Evil Dead) with a blood moon so it gives a bit of a red tint

It would be terrifying to be in a catacombs or in the sewers

Being at some sort of camping area would be great! (Could be Camp Crystal Lake for Friday the 13th DLC)

A subway system (preferably) or maybe a map with a train on it.

Ill stop here since I could go on for days haha

I love every single one of these suggestions. Especially the graveyard idea. We need more HORROR atmosphere and Midwich was a wonderful step in the right direction

So, you are playing survivor and the match starts. I have seen people do different things at the start of the match and of course the way people act at first might change depending on what they have around them. Did they start near a gen? Or a totem or a chest? Let's imagine the match starts and there is nothing or anyone near you. What is usually the first thing you do?

My playstyle of medic favors being near others who may need assistance on the flip of a dime. I'd rather group up as quickly as possible so I can be within reach immediately.

  • @Awkward_Fiend said:

I run Kindred, so I always use it to get attention since randos can be extremely Pepega and need to see a moving Aura sometimes to notice that my hook state's approaching the next phase.

This is precisely my thought process behind waving my arms on the hook. "Hey! About to reach struggling here! I'm safe to unhook!!"

  • Ever since noticing the rating system, I've tried to remember to use it every match. As a major fan of the game, I want to do everything I can to help provide feedback for improving/maintaining the game I love.

On another note, I find it quite ironic that this fanbase is so considerably toxic, pessimistic, and demanding of improvement - yet won't provide information in the form of a rating scale that takes 2 seconds at the end of a match.

  • PH's music is my favorite in the game. Closely followed by Demo and Doc. That being said, I think about this music a lot. While I LOOVVEE the emphasis on the bell-sounds for the horror aspect, it doesn't feel like it carries over into the up-beat feeling of normal chase music. I LOVE the new addition to make the chase feel more intense and nerve-wracking. I think that keeping a bit more emphasis on the bells while holding onto the new intensity of the chase would be the perfect balance.

  • As an avid player of both sides, I think survivors should always have the option to attempt to remain undetected/unchased. When I play survivor, I always opt to play Medic builds and try to keep everyone else alive - hook rescues and heals being my #1 priority. If I'm not alive to do so, my playstyle is out the window - so playing immersive is the goal. From a Killer perspective, I can respect survivors who successfully play immersive. Especially if such an immersive gameplay centers around lockers (which then provide free grab).

  • @Deadeye said:

The upside down one sounds interesting, like some special hooking mechanic similar to Pyramid Head. But I think this will be much too complex for the change that will be coming. So I would prefer to have a smaller rework which helps Demo quickly rather than having to wait another year for a Freddyish rework.

And also I think his basekit is perfect and only needs slight tweaks. I noticed that portals tend to be really weak. Needs setup time, you can't replace them therefore run out of portals and the base travel time is too slow, giving survivors a huge kickoff when you get out of a portal, making it almost useless to chase someone that just tried to seal a portal. The green travel speed addon already makes the portals much more viable, I hope they do something about the portals, they have too many drawbacks.

Regarding addons, I think they are mostly fine, except that increased stealth gives you nothing since Demo is so loud. That makes the one ultra rare totally painful rather than helpful, as it also cancels your map presence. And the aura reading one shouldn't be limited to injured survivors. Compared to other ultra rare aura reading addons, this one is super conditional and sometimes doesn't give you big value even when you see someone.

Some VERY good points, thank you for responding ๐Ÿ˜

  • @bjorksnas said:

Addon pass, rat liver basekit and maybe rat tail, he is pretty close to being perfectly balanced but with no tricks up his sleeve it leaves him open to not having enough variety to trip survivors up

Very fair. But that point is why I made this - I honestly thought he'd have (and still deserves) more tricks to play mindgames/pressure like he deserves to

  • Loved this ๐Ÿคฃ thanks for the positivity here!

Leatherface, I can't stand insta-downs that aren't hard to pull off. Billy at least has to learn movement control and stalkers have to stalk and hit a surv before it expires. Leatherface is just a M1 killer with perm exposed imo.

I voted for the same reason. Leatherface is the last Killer I don't own. I can't bring myself to like him (I only like the perks) because of the spammed insta-downs. At least with Billy or Myers you have to WORK to earn the insta-down. Get in a bubba chase and you're seconds away from a RREEEEEE and down.

Sure. You have the ones who will go for a snowball with tier 3 and down multiple survivors. These are usually the best Myers players who capitalize on a tier 3 to create pressure. Then you have the spooky scratched mirror Mikeys. These are always super fun. Then you'll get the infinite tier 3 and tombstone piece Mikeys. These guys usually mean business and are ruthless.

I recently started running a mainly-stealth build on Myers to promote stealthy stalking as well as a terrifying Tier 3 due to the massive TR being suppressed very often. The build obliterates.

  • This is really painful to see. I love this game as one of my all-time favorites and have nearly since release but to see them struggle (if that is the proper word to use) this hard is just saddening. I really hope they clean up their act before I get burned out on my favorite game as well as anyone else.

  • No worries, friend! You shouldn't have to fear asking a question to perspective - even less so as a newcomer.

    Tips for NOED:

-it is an ENDGAME perk, and a HEX perk as well. Don't base your entire match off of hopes to get a 4k off of the perk, especially since it can be taken away from you via totem.

-Works best with Killers whose power assists in setting up a basic attack. NOED doesn't work with special attacks, so basic has to do it. Killers with such a power are: Trapper, Spirit, Nurse, (kinda Wraith), Ghostface, Clown, you get the picture.

-Survivors can play very unpredictably when it comes to Endgame. Some dip out as soon as they can to ensure escape and associated gains. Some will not leave unless everyone is saved. Some only need a minor push to change their mind.

    Best of luck, friend!!

  • I've always been a big fan of Spies From the Shadows. Especially great when paired with some other awareness/hunting perks like Nurse's Calling, BloodHound, Stridor, etc.

  • @Sluzzy said:

Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more. I've had the least fun in this game with past few DLCs. Killers get it all with uncounterable abilities with overpowered perks and survivors get nothing to change the meta. Absolutely nothing, but a few dead zones and bland perks is what they do get.

This is caused by devs being afraid of killers because selling the killer DLC is what is important to them. Survivors buy cosmetics so they can use the same perks every game. Every survivor uses dead hard, DS, BT, etc. Killer gets a game changing undying perk which is now used every game, tinkerer was overbuffed into full time meta. Where is the survivor perk being buffed into meta? It don't exist.

So if you are strictly a killer main, then you are very happy right now. But if you play both sides or strictly survivor, I have no idea how you can possibly be excited.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't disagree more with THIS argument. Sure, Killers have gotten some good/fresh/new content recently, but Killers are NOT having a day in paradise. Survivors remain the power role. The Killer still fears the SURVIVORS. I hate to see it (much less say it) because I have been a major fan of this game since nearly day one. The roles have swapped and the Survivors are now the thing to be scared of, which didn't feel like the case way before all of these perks, mechanics, and stats for survivors that make them stronger than the Killer.

  • Original: The Oni. All the way. Don't get me wrong, The Doctor's is very unsettling and unique (especially given the instilled fear of being IN his TR), but the Oni's is so appealing and intense to me.

Licensed: Pyramid Head for days. It's the perfect balance of creepy and pee your pants intense. With its perfect transition from creeping up on you, to "######### he's here don't get caught." Don't get me wrong, I wanna say Demogorgon as well - with how incredibly nerve-wracking it is (as well as the insanely cool incorporation of the Stranger Things theme in it to add intensity.)

Sorry for nerding out - I love the layers and emotional impact that music ALONE can instill.

  • I want to stop and have everyone appreciate the actually GENUINE support and advise that is being shared for Killer mains on this thread. We need more positivity and constructive conversations here on this forum.

  • Personally I love this change. Previously, it felt like working on a generator made NO extra noise - the only noise being the generator ACTUALLY running. Plus the realistic animations/noises/lightFX are an awesome addition. Now the avtion is much more tense (as it should be). From a Survivor perspective: working on a gen should keep you on edge, it shouldn't be a leisurely and mindless activity. From a Killer perspective: generators are much noisier now which can mask other sounds the Survivors may be making, as well as helping to actually identify which gens are actively being worked on (which we could not previously). I thought that this was a wonderfully surprising addition.

To make a poll, click the red arrow on the New Discussion button, one of the options there is New Poll. From there the rest should be pretty straightforward, you fill in the options for answers you want in the corresponding text boxes, type in the subject and intro, and so on.

    Thanks, man!!

    Not a poll

Not sure how to make legit polls to vote on here tbh

  • I've used Tinkerer on PH ever since I unlocked it for him. Even before the perk rework. It works so well on him because it notifies you which gen is gonna finish, so you can sneak up on it and use PH's ranged attack through the environment to scare them off of the gen before it pops. Gets them literally every single time.

  • I see your logic behind the complaint here, but I (as a killer main) honestly 9/10 times don't tailor my build to accommodate for the survivors and items I see in the lobby. I make my builds versatile for my playstyle, whatever the match is. The only studying I really do before the match starts is seeing what items they carry so I know how I may need to counterplay at the start, and to make sure that I don't have survivors that look the exact same as eachother that'll confuse me from tracking my obsession-focused perks.

  • I fully agree with you. I sometimes miss the scare/thrill factor of being new to the game and being genuinely frightened. It's basic psychology, though - you habituate to things you experience numerous times and learn to predict them.. which wears off the emotional response. That's why, as a killer main, I love to throw unpredictability at the survivors. Unpredictability hinders habituation, bringing back traces of the emotional response. Nothing will get your hairs on end better than not predicting a killer playing Doctor going into stealth and grabbing you off of a gen. My favorite thing to do is run a stealth build and constantly change my tactics mid-match. Keep them guessing. Run Dark Devotion, Tinkerer, Trail of Torment, and (chose another stealth perk like Deathbound or Nemesis or pick aura reading perk - preferably Nurse's Calling).

  • Call me what you will - but as a Killer main, I shoot for the 4k every match with no mercy. If you die, you should've outplayed me. HOWEVER. If there is 1 DC, I'll consider mercy. 2 DC's and I'll probably give it. Other than that? Don't be mad if you're the last survivor and not handed the hatch - I play for kills. I love to spread positivity (especially in this toxic fanbase) but I'm playing my role of the game, THEN gonna send you some positive messages.

  • I vote having new objective modes. Imagine having a type of game mode where maps are made to be incredibly long (imagine a rectangular plan instead of the square-like ones we have). In these long maps, survivors are placed exactly on one end (outside of a gate) and the Killer on the other to guard a key. The Killer must place the key on their far end of the map shortly before the survivors are released, and keep the team from obtaining it. Once one of the survivors have found and stolen the key, that survivor must bring it back to the gates to unlock the exit for their team.

In other words, basically DBD themed Capture The Flag except the Killer is on permanent defense.

  • As a fellow PS4 Killer main, I want to extend my props to you for being so chill (and apparently a good killer, too). The survivor mains on PS4 are the exact reason why I had to change my messaging settings - because the toxicity almost drew me away from my favorite game. Keep your head up and keep slaying, my friend.

  • I. Love. The idea. I'd personally love to see this kind of Killer appear in the game (I've even suggested a type of sight=punishment Killer myself). I'm sure there would be a lot of balancing needing to be thought out - and you know how Survivor mains are gonna react about those perks, but.. I'd love to see this!

  • I would also like to know! I love using his teleport for similar reasons but always needs 2-3 seconds to re-orient myself.

  • No wonder so many people say that the DBD fanbase is so freaking toxic. Hazerino, you need to chill out a bit. Everyone here does, honestly. Not every match is gonna make you want to delete the game. Remember that this is literally just a game. I know how that sounds to hear because I freaking love playing DBD but it's just a game for enjoyment - not training for the Olympics. I would get if you were this mad about paying for content on the game and never receiving it or something... but raging over killers using good synergy perks? It's literally the main aspect of customization in the game.

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

I wouldn't mind Pennywise if he can transform into his Spider form and do crazy ######### lol.

    Freaking. Agreed.

  • How would they face eachother? Dealing strikes to eachother? Outperform the other against AI survivors? What did you have in mind?

  • I freaking love playing PH now that I got the hang of his mechanics and mindgames.

My current favorite build for him:

Forced Penance, Nurse's Calling, Deathbound, Tinkerer (or replace either of the last two with Save the Best for Last)

^this build works well with my preferred playstyle of keeping survivors injured and scared/jumpy - a playstyle that compliments Pyramid Head.

    My tips:

take advantage of perks that give survivor locations (such as Nurses' Calling or Tinkerer) to get the jump on a survivor by attacking thru walls with PH's range attack. Only use it when confident in a hit, especially in close quarters like corridors, vaults, pallets, etc.

That being said, use your trails in small amounts ONLY in such vital locations so that fleeing survivors will either accidentally tread on them, or be forced to make the decision to: go around it and close your gap or shortcut thru the trail (the latter is more likely).

Lastly, use your cages sparingly. Keep in mind that the cage is sent all the way across the map from you, which no killer usually wants. Both survivors ina cage rescue lose torment, while a hook rescue removes no torment. The ideal time to cage is when a survivor is downed right next to another hooked survivor or next to a key objective. Otherwise - keep your progress in applying torment to all survivors, keep them guessing on where you'll place a dying survivor for mindgames and go slay, my friend.. :)

It's RNG. My Doctor got all 3 levels of BBQ last. I was very sad. Hopefully, you have better RNG.

Forgive me for asking (I'm new to this forum, but certainly not to the game) what does RNG stand for?

  • One that I really like on Freddy is Ruin with Surveillance: this way, you can use Dream Projection to test if survivors are repairing specific generators from a distance because they will most often stop repairing when the blood spews. When they stop, Ruin makes it regress which is highlighted by Surveillance. Fill in the remaining two perk slots with desired perks that assist your playstyle - I prefer perks to assist in maintaining injury such as Nurse's Calling + Deathbound.

  • @Zeus said:

Removing standing still mindgame would be a start. Her husk shouldn't be a thing. If she uses her power, she should disappear. Creates a different sort of mindgame. Also I would love to see her passive phasing gone.

Bruh removing her husk AND passive phasing is just rewording the fact that you want The Spirit to be completely neutered. That's literally her essence: mindgames.

  • @APoipleTurtle said:

They all have some pros and cons:

Oni: Probably the most effective killer of these four (most people place him as a top-tier killer thanks to his ability). His Demon Dash is fantastic (borderline OP with the right add-ons) and his quiet terror radius can let him be cheeky with M&A. However, he has to build up and keep recharging his power. Probably the second hardest character to generally play on your short-list (after Deathslinger). I think he's a blast, but he seems to attract a lot of weird bugs, kind of like Wraith does.

Clown: He's good at shutting down loops and dropping pallets early (though I personally still think Freddy is a better version of him). If you don't have Pop Goes the Weasel, that could be a decent justification to get Clown (it's arguably one of the best killer perks available right now). I see him as an easier, but somewhat less powerful, version of Huntress. Plus he can dress like a plush elephant or Santa, so there's that.

Legion: Generally good at keeping survivors injured (though I think Legion struggles on big maps). Also one of the best Bloodpoint-generators in the game. They also give you Discordance, which is a great perk, along with Mad Grit (not great, but hilarious when it works), and Iron Maiden (useful for guys like Doc and pleasant on Huntress).

Deathslinger: Pretty good at gathering hits at short loops (or loops with long, straight walls), but can also reel survivors up near windows to hit them (he's good at dealing with Shack). Super weak to coordinated survivor teams because of his low mobility and need to focus on one survivor at a time. I personally think Deathslinger is kind of hard to play well due to his need for precision and high penalties for missing, but it is pretty satisfying to spear a survivor with his gun. I lose with him a lot in red ranks, but at least I have fun losing with him.

If I was to recommend any of these killers for playing at red or purple ranks, Oni would get my vote. If you're more looking for a killer who offers some technical fun, then Deathslinger. I think Legion and Clown are more valuable for the perks they provide and their ability to gain lots of BP, but they do have their fans as well. Use all this how you will.

^^ as a Killer main that owns and plays every one of them (except Cannibal or Clown) this lovely fellow couldn't have worded it better. However - I am extremely biased towards The Oni. The ability to easily track injured survivors via the blood orbs is god-tier. Not to mention that loops boost your ability since looping actions drop double blood orbs. Of the 4 options, I also feel that The Oni has the most flexibility with making fun and useful builds (which is another conversation that I'd love to have). Don't get me wrong, I LOVE The Legion's ability to keep everyone injured and agility to do so - but The Oni has greater payoff. Hands-down.

  • Wendigo, hands-down. I want to see Urban Legend/Mythology play into the game.

  • Thank you for all of the pointers, everyone!! I hadn't thought of some of the things that you guys have said. I appreciate it! :D

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

Why would you ever bother looking at the statues then? Just leave them on the side of the screen without ever looking directly at it and his power becomes irrelevant.

If a survivor were to ignore the Gargoyle and his Statue duplicates, he could manipulate the survivors into not being sure which are Statues and which are actually him. Not to mention that if they don't figure it out, their auras are being revealed.
