  • I see where you are coming from, but everyone here has a good point.

OP, your point is that you don't have to run into certain death to help others when you are in the clear to just escape and "win."

On the other hand, YOUR escape is a lot less likely if you don't help out your fellow teammates who are ALSO looking to escape and "win."

I think that everyone has a playstyle that balances "Lone Wolf" and "Team Player" to a degree. At least, I think that the BEST playstyle falls somewhere in between these two.

Idk. I normally play medic builds to prioritize OTHERS surviving for longer which often comes back to help ME get out since we all stay alive and cooperating.

  • I'm gonna use one of my favorite quotes here, and this is genuinely aimed at YOU, OP.

"Did you have a bad day, or was it a bad 5 minutes?"

  • There are a lot of these on the flip for Killer, too. Either the perk/addon has such a small significance that you don't directly observe the benefit, or the change is such an out-of-your-control influence that you never see its benefits.

I guess we gotta trust the game?

  • I think that the dilemma of Plague matches is pretty simple when you boil it down.

Plague excels at highlighting which survivors play selfishly.

The strat that seasoned survivors know to use against Plague is to carry infection so that you don't feed into Plague's corrupted purge (a survivor-downing machine in the right hands). The catch about this strat is that ALL FOUR survivors have to agree to use this. Otherwise, those carrying the infection is screwed.

In the eyes of the survivor not using the strat:

Why should I have to accept my fate that I can only have one health state this entire match? And leave infection trails everywhere? And be super noisy? Plague is gonna down you easily if you have full infection with purge or M1. If you don't have full infection, you're still likely gonna be downed easily with corrupt purge, but your chances THERE are better since you have two health states.

I view this problem as a type of DBD Prisoner's Dilemma. Be selfish and benefit? Or embrace the suck and endure full infection in solidarity? It pisses off the others agreeing to take it on the chin while another survivor allows themself 2 health states to preserve themselves.

  • You're talking about matches against Plague, right?

  • I think that it would be hard to fit into the lore of the game because The Entity would have to be able to contain Death and use Death to it's own liking/will. Sure, you may argue that the same could be said about the likes of Myers, Pyramid Head or Dredge, but we're talking the characterization of Death here. The best argument for why Death would work would be to say that if the Dredge (the manifestation of bad thoughts) could be placed in the Entity's realm, so should Death. But this argument feels more complicated than that. Not one single culture seems to have the exact same concept of the characterization of Death.

TLDR: not sure if lore would allow Death as a character, but I'd argue for the attempt.

As the official leader of the Pyramid Head In DBD Fanclub for 2 years running now, I am pleased to welcome to you into the fog!

    To answer your questions:

    1) (ignore the add-ons, I actually prefer to use double range)

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ZDC2AHLUFSP1/unknown-84.png

    2) I don't think I'd want another SH Chapter per-say, but I'd love a skin for Harry, Maria, and I guess Henry? Plus the White Hunter skin for Pyramid Head (or literally any more skins for him BHVR please).

But if they ever did do another chapter, then the Lakeside Amusement Park from SH3 would be sick.

I'm honored. Even before having an account here on this forum, I've loved seeing your posts and everything. One PH lover to another, respect 😎

You can't take full advantage of its effect. In the few seconds you're walking away from the hook, it's not making them die faster because you're still within 24m.

Refer to my comment which addresses this

  • I've been thinking the exact opposite of you in regards to taking advantage of the new Monstrous Shrine - who can activate the faster hook progression quickest? Upon hooking, Onryo (Sadako), Dredge, Blight, Spirit and kinda Wraith have the ability to book it away from the hook after throwing on a survivor.

Especially with Sadako and Dredge you can hook a survivor and immediately teleport away to begin that bonus hook progression.

On another thought process, consider Pyramid Head. Throwing a tormented survivor on a MS hook (for their first hook) adds the threat that the they are very quickly approaching an easy Final Judgement if the PH focuses on booking it away from the hook.

Fun fact, dbd is the first game ever in alot of regards when it comes to it's licenses, such as being

    • The first game ever to legally and officially release Hellraiser content for a video game
    • The game that officially debuted Pinhead's first appearance in a released video game and also being the first game ever to legally let you play as him.
    • The first game ever to have Doug Bradley officially voice Pinhead in a video game
    • The first game ever to have official Crypt TV content in a video game
    • The first (and currently only) game ever to have both Silent Hill & Resident evil content together in the same game
    • The first game ever to let you play as Amanda Young from SAW
    • The first multiplayer game ever to let you play as Detective David Tapp
    • The first game ever that let's you play as Sadako Yamamura
    • The first game ever to let you play as characters like Laurie Strode, Quentin Smith, the Ash version from Ash vs Evil Dead.
    • The first game ever to create it's very own original ghostface character that isn't connected to scream or is just an extra costume only and who's lore revolve around the ghostface moniker
    • The first multiplayer game ever to legally let you play as Michael Myers in an authentic way
    • The first game ever to official license Ringu and also create lore for it that becomes part of it's own canon

I would also have added in the first game ever to legally have the big 4 slasher icons together in the same game, however we're unfortunately not there yet as we're still missing Jason.

This right here is probably why I'm so addicted to this game after all my years of playing it. Base game, DBD is already a solid game with HOURS o replay value - but throwing in licensed characters as the first time they are playable in a video game? YES! The excitement of the next chapter's content is something I treasure since I've been experiencing it for so long now.

  • THIS is how I prayed that this thread would turn out!! Thank you to EVERYONE who has participated in showing appreciation and spreading positivity!! 😁 it's so cool to hear from everyone to see what specific things about this game hits you because it is so different for everyone!!

  • I'll start.

How TALENTED is the music production BHVR has been showing off lately? Like each Killer having their own menu music, Terror Radius, and chase music is like being a child on Christmas morning if you were a player of this game years ago when none of that existed. And each piece of music is an absolute banger!! I pray we keep getting quality music like this.

  • I'm not sure... 😅 I kinda sweat with every Killer I play, but if I'm in the mood I'll also just have fun with every Killer I play.

Like I'll sweat hard with PyramidH, PinH, Sadako, Nemmy, Dredge, Demo, Plague

... but then I'll also have fun with the same Killers if I'm in the mood or if the survivors crack me up. Or if I curb stomped them before they like ANY gens so then I pity them.

Bro. I thought i'm the only one in this forum. But there are MORE. I enjoy playing as and against every killer, and i think weskers power sounds insanely fun. So good to find someone in this forum not complaining about everything. Can i marry you?

Lmao bro honestly. It's a genuine shame that the toxicity is so potent in this community. We have such a good and unique game here that deserves positivity, but 99% of the fanbase (at least what is represented here on the forum) is so pessimistic. Makes me sad.

  • Run that punchline by me one more time..

    PH...? Is too powerful..?

  • After how much I've enjoyed these last several new Killers, I hold high hopes and expectations. I'm easy to please (I know. I'm always told this - ESPECIALLY in regards to DBD Killers) but I think that a bit more creativity is on the rise. I mean it's possible that Wesker is gonna have a power where he can THROW, INSTA-PICKUP and even DIVE through windows. Cmon. Let's be a little bit more optimistic and grateful, eh? At least try?

  • How was her wind up time?

  • Thank you for your good deeds, my good sir. What is your preferred method of payment for your services? It appears to be animal photos. 🤣🤣

  • Gosh, I really hope so. I LOVE her, but she really needs a facelift.

  • I didn't get to test it out on PTB this time, so I'm going in fresh. I'm INCREDIBLY excited to play both against and as Dredge. As a player of both sides equally, I'm super excited to experience Nightfall. It sounds like a great addition to the horror aspect of the game. It always thrills me to see Sadako teleporting and emerging out of nowhere because the unpredictability (as well as the curse growing) adds a much-needed horror aspect to the game. It sounds like Dredge will continue to be am amazing addition to what we need.

I'm sure Nightfall is very unnerving at the moment, but it is stuff like this that the game needs. We need some actually scary Killers that also have fair limitations.

  • @Kimura said:

I opened my game today, and I saw a new opening that, was actually kinda unsettling. It was like, Dwight, not moving, staring down the well, and then it went through photos of Sadako, and video footage of people crawling through a map, then like, an up-close of Sadako again and then static. Has anyone else seen this or am I actually just losing my mind?

You have now watched the tape. Good luck.

  • From my perspective of playing both sides frequently - I really respect it. A survivor that is willing to very likely be downed and hooked just to lock in that gen as done deserves massive respect.

If you Google "taking one for the team" this should be the example they provide.

  • I mean, in an asymmetrical game like this, there are ALWAYS gonna be updates that feel like it is lopsided. Killers have complained for ages that updates and additions are boosting survivors too much, so of course there are going to be updates that make survivors feel like it doesn't help them at all. It's a game, this happens.

Do you play both roles equally? Do you *like* playing both roles equally?

You might care less about things like this and just enjoy the fact that this is a game if you do ^^

  • Unpopular opinion:

I LOVE STBFL on Pyramid Head - I always have and always will (nerf pending, that is). It allows for much for flexibility with him, and you can use M2 to save your stacks when you need to injure the obsession.

I guess now I love STBFL on Onryo, too, since the perk can massively help with ending chases (especially spicy for when you want to take advantage of a fully cursed survivor for the mori.)

God, STBFL is good on just about ANY killer in my eyes. When used effectively it just makes any killer absolutely menacing.

  • My favorite build for her atm is:

    Brine, Nurse's, Thana, Sloppy

With this build, I play this kind of playstyle:

I keep as many gens marked at once as possible with Brine for gen info, but focus as much as possible on injuries. During chase, I focus on scaring the survivor away from me and into the range of TVs so I can teleport to them and add curse stacks. Keeping the survivors injured keeps their gen progress slow (with Brine counters). If they try to heal, I'll likely see them with Nurse's. If done well, the curse stacking places more objective pressure.

I almost always get mini moris with her.

    Hope this helps!

  • @The_dkollar2 said:

This sounds pretty neat in concept and for smart survivors it could be an incredibly fun mechanic to play around always shifting contamination around and trying to take one for the team without dying but for worse or less coordinated survivors this could quickly become annoying with too self interested survivors potentially causing the death of or at least applying unnecessary pressure to others for no real reason. There is also the possibility of trolling by spam giving someone else condemned till they die this could be limited by having the amount transferred reflect the amount the transferrer has making it so that they transferrer would have to be constantly getting themselves condemned to really affect others but it still wouldn't be too hard to simply wait till the right moment and add just enough condemned to screw someone else over. It'd be really cool if this could work but I'm not sure it could.

A great point, and I would not be surprised in the slightest to see that kind of play.

The only critique I have of your proposed idea is the part where passing on condemnation would reflect how much the first person has. This would also be inaccurate to the lore since spreading Sadako's curse to someone else starts them on day 1. Also - passing on more than one condemnation stack sounds like way too much sandbagging. Even to me - and I'm the one stirring the pot here about spreading condemnation.

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

They'll never add the ability to directly sandbag another player like that.

You can grab the last vaccine against Nemo. You can rescue a mate in cage when someone else needs to remove torment. Hell, purposely selfish perks exist. I think this is the same in comparison.

  • @Dionysus42 said:

Being lore-faithful is just lip service, despite what people like Pixelbush seem to think. The condemned was designed to be a 'strong' mori (so that nobody could call for buffs) while concealing how terrible a mechanic it is, just one more killer power totally in the hands of survivors.

Don't get me wrong, survivors get a lot of control in this game...

    ...A LOT...

But the way I see it, most creative uses of giving Killers powers are gonna require Killer-Survivor interaction:

-survivors can disarm traps (Trapper, Hag)

    -survivors can cleanse/vaccinate (Plague, Nemo)

-survivors can focus on heals to prevent giving up blood (Oni)

-survivors can rush to caged mates to remove Torment (PyraH)

-survivors can designate a person to solve the Box (PinH)

I can go on. Giving the survivors absolutely NOTHING extra to do other than gens and survive can get boring. In fact, I think that this new focus on giving Survivors a brand new Killer-specific objective is VERY fun. But these extra objectives have to be tweaked to be powerful enough to not make it feel like the Killer is neutered every time it is fought.

  • I absolutely love her. I think that she has one of the most fun playstyles as her stealth is mostly effective at scaring survivors via catching them off-guard and keeping them on edge. She may need some tweaks, but I love everything she brings to the table.

  • I agree on both, but it is one of the most satisfying things ever to get really good Surge (Jolt) value several times a match. It would be tight if one of the next things they put on experimental testing was a much longer range for the perk to proc or removal of the basic hit requirement.

Picture this. You play as Sadako. You equip Agitation, Pain Resonance, Floods of Rage, and Make Your Choice.

You get someone down, Agitation gets you to a scourge hook, Pain Resonance tells you where to teleport to harass someone. Somebody saves, now somebody is exposed and you don't want to commit to chases anyway... So... Now you see the exposed person for 7 seconds and can teleport to them. Down them. Repeat.

    Sounds pretty good to me.

Or swap resonance for BBQ to gain info on more than just one TV location you wanna jump to

Brilliant. This is now a synergy that is up on my list of those I look forward to. Thank you.

  • I thought the same thing because I NEVER play Billy, but you just gotta use the right build for landing constant chainsaw hits.

Try Otz's combo suggestion for the addon that makes saw rev faster after being stunned along with the perk Enduring. Maybe even Spirit Fury.

Throw in something like Tinker, BBQ, Plaything, Hysteria, something for aura reading or cheeky surprise hits.

    You can do it!!

  • New Survivor Item: The Holy Hand Grenade!

-When completing a generator, the Holy Hand Grenade descends from Heaven and into your hand. Dropping this item at your feet causes an explosion. This explosion, if it blinds the Killer, completely decimates the Killer and the match is over.

    "Not one.. not two.. THREE!!"

  • I love getting some solid plays with Dragon's Grip (DG), so this synergy sounds great. I look forward to trying out DG *specifically* on Sadako because I love baiting DG with stealthy killers. Between GhostFace and Pig, it pays off to be able to plant the trap and stealthily hunt nearby - if you can do it right, it tempts the survivor to stop the regression and makes them panic since they cannot hear you. It sounds like Sadako will be a perfect new killer to try this baiting tactic on.

  • How is nobody mentioning Spies From the Shadows? I genuinely consider it as the best short-range tracking perk right next to Nurse's - but Spies is a general perk!!

  • I cackled too much at this, showed it to my wife, and cackled even more as she glared at me

  • Exactly. This appreciation needs immense attention. Can't thank them enough.

  • I think that this is a wonderful idea!! I don't agree with those saying that the addition of Spirit being aware of her owm passive phasing (PP) would not open any doors to skillfully use it. Sure, it's RNG-based, but it could CERTAINLY be used as a momentary opportunity to change directions, cross a window, look around, or more while disorienting the survivors' idea of the Spirit's plans.

*Another suggestion* maybe in addition to her hands disappearing/blinking during PP like those suggested above, maybe an audio cue could indicate that PP is *ABOUT TO ACTIVATE* so the player can anticipate it coming and get full usage out of it.

    Thoughts?

  • I saw a leak that next patch update will include a nerf to Pyramid Head where if he goes over his own trail of torment, he himself gets caged on the spot for the rest of the trial while the survivors get to farm

  • I'm likely biased, but Pyramid Head is the first that comes to my mind. He's got power diversity, an actual threat (that can be countered by survivors playing carefully and intelligently) and is always fun for both Survivors and the person playing as PH. I honestly wish that more Killer players chose PH.

  • Thank you for the heads-up!! Other than browsing this forum, I really don't use any form of social media anymore. These kind of posts are helpful and appreciated.

  • Well this is for Legion, so keep in mind that the ability FF triggers Killer Instinct within your TR when inflicting damage during the ability.

That being said, your best stealth bases around inflicting Oblivious instead of using Undetectable.

-Hex: Plaything is probably the best stealth universally and most notably keeps intact your Killer Instinct benefits.

-Deathbound does a lot here. 1) know where and who is being healed far away, BY WHOM. 2) If they stick together, they're closer for your to FF against. If they split up, they're oblivious to your presence😈

-Trail of Torment helps get the first jump on survivors, and is especially helpful that it'll stay active until you inflict damage (or that gen is repaired), then you can use your TR for Killer Instinct

-Tinkerer, for obvious reasons, but avoid using FF for the Undetectable duration

-Dark Devotion is a unique one. If you basic M1 the obsession, then FF others, you'll get the Killer Instinct highlight from the obsession's false Terror Radius while you are Undetectable. Good for mindf**kery on all killers.

  • I've been wondering the same. But then again, we had similar questions like when Pyramid Head was being released (he's originally known to be very slow) as well as Pinhead (as he hardly ever moves faster than a walk in Hellraiser movies). But they were worked around, right? PH and Pinhead both have animations that help them make a bit more sense as PH has long-ish strides and Pinhead simply has that proper-walk animation. The opposite was done for Nemesis as he's supposed to be VERY fast and DBD gave him a jog-like animation to accommodate

  • ...is.. is this new information? Are these voice lines you're mentioning newly added..?

  • I felt like I was invading privacy by reading that.

    But!

I wholeheartedly agree. PH is not played nearly as much as he used to, and he is my absolute favorite to go against. I wish more people enjoyed playing as him like I do so that I can get more experience going *against* him

  • @GannTM said:

I've played a few matches as her today and still am having so much fun with her. I win most games but I've 2k'ed a few because you just can't win them all. I still don't understand the sentiment that Spirit isn't good anymore.

I'm still very sad that I see her so rarely as survivor because the majority of the Spirit main community just quit. Just wish people would listen to me when I say that she's still good. Props to my 4 fellow Spirit enjoyers that stuck with her though!

"Please reunite with us ex-Spirit mains." -TheGannMan

Count me on your tally as fellow Spirit fans. I've been one since day one and that hasn't changed since her nerf

  • Bubba. Hands-down. Granted, I SOMETIMES have fun playing against a Bubba, but I think that his playstyle is honestly just a bit too annoying and unfair. He's the ONLY killer that I do not own and refuse to buy/play

  • I mean I don't either, but it would be cool if it did
