This update will 100% make stealth killers unplayable. If we can see the player is being chased then the chase stops, we all know the stealth killer is stealthing and looking for another target. It's just like being solo and seeing the obsession claws meaning that player is being chased. There will be zero reason to ever play stealth killers again. We will see even more blight/nurse/artist/bubba/legion/spirit and all the other annoying killers. high tier killers and CONSISTENT killers will be the only ones played. Literally went from maining legion/doctor/dredge for a looooooong time to only playing blight/spirit for the past week. Gonna start nurse soon. Frankly it just feels like survivors and devs just want all the killers to either quit or just main S tier killers. you guys tired of gen kick meta? Well once the hud happens youre going to get the tunneling gen kick meta I 100% promise you. Even if it ends up not being a big deal (i only think it'll impact stealth killers badly and other killers slightly) every single time survivors gets these QOL buffs its for ALL FOUR PLAYERS but killers get a buff its for the ONE player on our side. So now we have to deal with ALL of you having a hud. Meanwhile we get eruption and if we are LUCKY it MIGHT impact your whole team but typically no it will not do that. Survivor buffs impact the game way more than killer buffs ESPECIALLY when its related to second chances or in this case INFORMATION.
Lets say im solo and i see ghostface is chasing someone. The Claws icon leave so i know he isn't in chase anylonger . I now know
1) killer is out of chase with that player. they can heal or do a gen. Now I pay attention to their new hud icon and see what they are doing.
2) killer is stealthing around map again. I know because he isn't in chase. I now pay closer attention to distance in map and corners and make sure my exhaustion is off cooldown.
3) he can't ambush me now which is the entire point of stealth killers. The killers main defining playstyle now doesn't exist. Period. They only have their secondary power if any and perks. And if they brought corrupt or any hexes they will lose them. Now thanks to the hud and bad game balance that killer is lacking most of their power (stealth) because we can have a general idea of what they are doing and where they are, they also lost their perks.
4.) going to be a hell of a lot of killers running high power non-stealth killers with gen regression. Because everything else is unplayable currently.
This entire update literally makes stealth killers pointless, and against swfs they already are weaker than all the other killers. Not a single s tier stealth killer for a reason. This update will 100% just be yet another CRUTCH for bad survivors who can't pay attention to the game happening around them and an indirect nerf to killers, especially stealth killers.
Seriously advise all my fellow killer mains to just start maining nurse/blight/artist/spirit or some A tier killers. Between this, the possible basekit unbreakable coming, and current meta, you need to play well enough to earn a merciless EVERY match and sweat EVERY match. Tunnel, camp, play hard enough to make people dc. There is no longer a fun aspect to killer it's only about winning because every match is a sweat fest. Survivors keep getting a hundred second chances and we can't make ONE mistake. Now the solo players basically get half swf treatment. So now as killer you have to assume EVERY squad is swf (i mean already have to do that, hence no hex builds or anything easily countered by being called out) because even if they are solo they can still know what all the players are doing and if someones in chase or no one in chase KNOW WHAT THE KILLER IS DOING. The hud plus one single info perk is just infinite knowledge for any good survivor.
It's insane how nobody is mentioning how the HUD change allows people to 100% safety on gens as long as they know someone is being chased by a stealth killer, and to know when they need to be alert. But actually thinking about the change would disrupt the 'just a quality of life change!!!11' nonsense narrative.

Since everyone thought basekit meta perks for survivors was fair in 6.1, why not give killers basekit Eruption?
-
I think a good nerf to DH would be it being removed from the game.
-
Deliberately lose a few matches, watch how the response is BM and insults in chat, after a few games of that you shouldn't feel bad anymore

If you can try doing the bloodweb with a controller, I find it much more comfortable at least. It's a joke that they haven't made it much better in all these years.

BHVR is 'listening to feedback' now, remember

"It's only seasonal" mfs when they find out that winter is in June in half the world.

I see we have the return of the "how is it FOMO when we have BHVR's word to go on that they'll bring them back in future" and "how is it scummy to remove things that have been year round" and "all these were obviously seasonal things and didn't included a bunch of stuff only tangentially involved with the holidays" arguments.
So let's break it down one a time:
1) "They'll be back next year." BHVR has, in fact, already walked back multiple times on saying they don't want limited skins, and that skins will become available with iri shards after four weeks (since they then modified that to exclude limited ones), and seemingly given up on putting old rift cosmetics in the shop. Even if you don't think it counts as FOMO if it'll be back some time in future, that's putting an awful lot of trust in BHVR's words regarding cosmetics. There's enough reason to be sceptical that some things might be gone forever--enough to cause FOMO now, and doubly so if it comes true.
2) As noted, some of the 'seasonal' things used to be available all year round. For iri shards. They have now been taken out of the shop, making them 'exclusive' to try and get you to spend to get them now rather than hope you have enough saved when they come back next year. If they come back next year. If they come back next year and now aren't auric cell only like all the other limiteds.
3) "Who sells holiday themed stuff outside of holidays?" Ignoring 'every major retailer with a web presence' as an answer, you're going to have to explain real hard how things like pyjamas are Christmas themed, or how vaguely wintery clothing is therefore a holiday promotion and should only be available for one month a year.
None of the bootlickers will respond to this because they know better than anyone their 'arguments' are asinine nonsense.
-
No one has been able to present an argument for making things seasonal because there is none outside of regular corporate greed. All they can do is cry out about they 'don't care' and it 'doesn't matter', though if that was actually true, they wouldn't be devoting time to defending it in that disingenous and toadying way.

It probably will reduce kill rates. It’s over the top to say everyone will get only one kill. But it’s also dismissive to say that it’s not going to effect kill rates much.
Yes, giving solo survivors the equivalent of about 2(?) extra awareness perks is going to affect the kill rates. Of course no one knows how much, but if it’s a small amount I would be very surprised.
After some time it may start feeling like every group is a SWF as solo survivors learn how to use this new information being made available to them. Which is a good thing for game balance but dismissing the fact that this will reduce kill rates is not helpful. It’s pretty obvious that it’s going to reduce kill rates. The whole point of the change is to bring solo in line with SWF. And if you’ve played against good SWF teams, you know the gulf of difficulty between the two types of games.
People were saying 'buff solo queue up to SWF and they can balance killers later'. It's obviously no surprise that when they get their solo queue buff suddenly they forget about the killer balance and pretend it's not a buff. Getting buffs for survivor was the goal the whole time, not balance.
-
Me burning all my pyjamas because the 'special time' has passed.
-
They should be removed
-
Funny how the hud changes are somehow both 'bringing solo up to SWF so we can balance more consistently' AND 'just a qol change that won't change kill rates'.
-
It won't get buffed because it's in a good state, though survivors are so hysterical about it they refuse to simply put it on and see how useful it remains.
-
They only changed DH because people complained about it, but they've never understood why it's so terrible for the game. If they did they'd have nerfed it, or better yet, completely removed it and replaced it with a different perk concept, years ago.
-
It needs to be buffed to work properly against SWF, then they can balance it properly.
If you believe 'solo should be buffed to SWF and killer balanced against that', you HAVE to support Eruption buffs as it is the exact same logic.
-
Eruption isn't used anywhere near to what Dead Hard, Unbreakable, Iron Will, and DS were at the heyday of that meta (I.E. multiple years) but is complained about far more. Almost as if the 'killer-dominated forum' crying is projection and it's actually an easy survivor majority.
-
Looping is an exploit that takes advantage of BHVR's lack of foresight when designing the hitboxes. Don't see many survivors crying about that though.
-
If DH was actually as broken as bottom-MMR survivors on the forums think, the game would be much better. Sadly it's still the top survivor perk by far for some weird reason, as if the better survivors have long since figured out all the situations in which it is still the good old press E to win
-
They hated him because he told them the truth.

@Aceislife said:
That makes no sense. If theres zero risk to lower your "rank" (sadly not even a rank anymore, since the game has gone to a worse direction to be more casual friendly), it would mean that everyone would eventually reach rank 1? Or whatever its called these days?
Also its very easy to get to the top "rank" anyways. How can you stress about it when it has nothing to do with the competitiveness of the game?
Everyone is SUPPOSED to reach grade 1 if they play enough, that's the whole point of the system. It's completely removed from matchmaking and is explicitly meant to reward playtime not skill.
-
"They're just trying to survive!"
"Whether they leave the locker and get killed or stay in and get hooked, the killer has already won!"
Survivor mains believe both of these at once. If the alternative to leaving is being hooked, it means there is already no chance of surviving. All you're doing is trying to prevent dying in a specific way to spite the other player.
-
Damn, if 95% of the survivors are solo anyway and SWF only makes balancing more difficult, I guess it should just be removed.
-
Just don't stream. Adapt.
-
Judging by it being the most used survivor perk despite 'never working', for most people it would seem to be Dead Hard
-
The hierarchy of power in the meta is changing.
-
It's the most used survivor perk for a reason, as long as it exists the other exhaustion perks may as well be deleted. It has always been a terrible concept for a perk and no change can fix that.
-
The existing survivor meta perks are so strong that even BHVR isn't incompetent enough to make anything more busted.
-
Post exit gate tbags by a 4man SWF I noticed one was a streamer so I went into their channel for a chat. In short they acknowledged:
- Winning 95% of their matches
- That matchmaking is broken
- That SWF is broken (though they said it was only with certain builds which I disagree with since, as they said, they win 95% of the time with or without those builds)
They said they play SWF because they have fun playing with friends, not because it's broken or lets them win all the time.
So… they do something they know is unsportsmanlike and unfair just because they are allowed to and THEY have fun. Regardless of all the people they make NOT have fun because SWF in this game is clearly broken. This is a pretty common argument amongst survivors in this game. But here’s what this is also saying - they have no moral compass of their own to stop them from doing something wrong. The system they are playing in says it’s ok so they will go along with that since it allows them to do what they enjoy.
Does anyone not see what’s wrong here? Not see the obvious philosophical issue? People who allow themselves to go along with corrupt / broken systems are not free from responsibility. Especially when you’re not forced to go along with it. If you continue to play broken SWF and don’t take steps to just play a fair game, you’re the problem. You can’t just blame the game and the unfair system. You have the freedom to make the game more fair by not playing with comms, the strongest perks and items in the game and using the cheapest, easiest tactics. This is why killers get angry at this game and survivors. This is why they tunnel and camp. It’s not just saltiness. It’s a complete lack of fairness and an abrogation of responsibility of both survivors and BHVR. We want to play fair games, that’s all.
-
Escape rates are low if you inflate the kill rate with matches that are impossible to escape from because someone leaves the game 30 seconds in, wow what a discovery

The fact that it works so much better vs solo's while doing almost nothing vs swf alone is enough reason for a change
Doesn't even matter if it's overperforming or not
So it should be buffed to work equally well against SWF as solo?

OK, but don't worry some time in the next months there will be a fix (probably), after they finish making all their cosmetics time-limited
Now, go and vote DBD for Labor of Love!

Damn, no more 'buying with shards' copium. I'm sure a lot more outfits will coincidentally be considered 'seasonal' from now on

Don't expect an answer until the last day so they can make bank on FOMO even if they will be for shards (and they probably won't be imo)

Not surprised, not happy
Ashamed that there are still people defending these dirty tactics in ANY kind of game
Don't worry, they will say it's coming back next year on the last day of the sale which is totally fine and not transparently stretching out the FOMO as much as possible before getting the simps to defend them because it's 'not a REAL exclusive'
-
A green key with no addons definitely is much stronger than a green flashlight, for sure.
-
It hasn't been half the old rate for a long time. Right now it sits at around 30% whereas it was 40% before. Regardless, it doesn't really matter if it's 'weaker'. The problem with Dead Hard is how it forces the Killer to work around it every single time until they confirm someone doesn't have it. It dominates the game even if nobody has it. The constant need to wait out DH is an 'unfun' part of the game regardless of the state of the perk itself. If the devs listened to feedback, they would've seen reason when people told them that DH would be terrible and they never would've added such a badly conceived perk in the first place.

If I remember correctly, Boons became a thing at all because killers complained about survivors just doing gens. Devs wanted survivors to have a second objective but it had to be optional because if it takes survivors too long to complete gens, they’re not gonna escape. And if the escape rate goes too low, they’ll have issues. Every Boon besides CoH pretty much sucks and no new booms have been released because they essentially become useless perks.
Devs haven’t nerfed the Gen regression/slowdown meta but they have released perks to somewhat balance that. Believe it or not the devs know they can’t make playing survivor feel hopeless. There has to be at least some inkling that survivors could possibly escape the trial.
That's precisely the problem. Any second objective would involve a deep reworking of the basic game flow so that survivors aren't just sitting on gens while not in chase, but without making the gens take so much longer they can't escape.
Boons were obviously never such a thing, because being optional, they only get used if the survivor thinks they are worth the time investment. That's why only CoH and maybe Shadowstep ever get used. Basically, if they were intended to be a second objective, BHVR compromised themselves into making a system that's actually much closer to a second objective for the killer.
-
BHVR should've removed boons in the first patch after their release and admitted the idea was terrible. Instead they release perhaps the most laughable 'bandaid perk' in the whole game with Shattered Hope.
-
Survivors say chase is the only 'skillful' part of the game, but tunneling involves 3 successful chases, so how is it less skillful than any other killer option by these standards.
If you can't loop for long enough to get the others out in 3 different chases, you're just bad. Crying about tunneling is literally a big survivor skill issue.
-
Flashlights are very weak, that's why you see Green keys so much more than them,

Either way, by now we have multiple 30 or 40+ male characters (and perhaps even 60+, in the case of Bill), yet not a single female character that isn't in her early 20s? For how "diverse" of a cast BHVR is supposedly interested in creating, that's a pretty sexist trend!
At the very least Yun-Jin and Zarina definitely aren't in their 'early 20s'. They both have had careers of some length, especially Yun-Jin. Further, if you actually bothered to read the character descriptions, you'd know Elodie is 28 at the very least as well. Funny how people upvote comments that are straight up wrong just because it fits their prejudgments. I'd note that all the female characters you ignored happened to be the non-white ones if I cared to make insinuations.

Yeah solo changes are a must soon. Any team based game has pinging as a feature now basically (Deep rock, Back 4 blood, Apex, OW, Valorant even CS:GO)
Can’t imagine it’s too hard to implement and even a simple ping like “Killer chasing me” or “Gen almost done” would be game changing
The survivors aren't a team, it's 1v1 x 4 not 1v4 remember
