I wonder if they'd ever pout it in that eh can cut it down temporarily but at the cost of a longer charge time fora short duration.

EDIT: It will if haunted ground is cleansed, since one of the totems becomes dull. If not there will be no dull totem to which noed can be applied to. You can only hope for survivor to get greedy for 1000 points once the gates are powered.

Yeah I saw 2 lit totems once and their was no Ruin and DH enver proc'd so I knew what was up and didn't cleanse them.

The gates get powered and I'm busy opening 1 the killer was Spirit and someone decides to cleanse one of the totems just because.

Poof there went 3 ppl and I got chased out and then got flamed at why didn't i come back for them, well duh free 4k isn't happening because someone was greedy.

Oh and the other 3 all went for the closest gate where the totem was and was also where the killer went haha.

    Calling it now.

They will have the first laugh as they cause killers to depip. We will have the last laugh when they have no more lobbies when all of the killers enter the low ranks.

Oh good grief you poor killers, do you think that somehow magically people won't just swap over to killer side like they do currently for faster lobbies?

If you want to intentionally derank more to trash low skilled players then enjoy the dc's since one toxic move will just get another more destructive one in return.

Since lower skilled players are more likely to dc in mass than higher skilled players are enjoy your empty games and super long lobby wait times.

What you'll end up doing is ensuring everyone will start running MLGA and simply lobby dodging the killers that want to do that.

Just remember what happened when people started using it with blacklists, now it'll only get exponentially worse.

If a chaser emblem is that important that you'd hard camp then that's pretty sad since it imply's you'd camp just to cam and use that as an excuse.

You think DS usage is bad now, well get ready for everyone to run it, hate that 4 man flashlight squad get ready to never get a lobby again as you dodge endlessly.

Would be interesting. They cleanse it for points and then NOED activates. They'd think they are safe after the 1 minute timer on it. Then insta down for NOED.

They'll probably still be notified by NOED's existance if you hit them while they're still Exposed from cleansing Haunted Ground.

This has actually happened you get both effects on your screen notifying you that hey stupid you forgot something.

It's similar to Haunted Grounds and Rancor, you get notified that you're exposed while the Haunted ground timer counts down.

  • I've been wondering since usually they're really rare but I've been seeing a lot more in my killers blood webs than normal.

2 days ago i got rekt because when killer came to me i tried to vault the window but instead i kept opening the chest right next to it, hilarious. At first i yelled " [BAD WORD] " but then i couldn't stop laughing

I had the same thing happen recently only it was the hatch which was open and when I clicked on it the hook that was right next to it sabo prompt kept coming up.

So of course I kept kneeling to perform the sabo action for 4 seconds and the killer caught up to me and hooked me next to the hatch.

We both had a good laugh afterwards about it.

If a killer is using 2 to 4 perks all centered around making healing difficult… guess what?
    Healing should be difficult!!
Because he lost all his tools to pressure the gens, help in a chase, delay gens or help finding survivor.

The point is that killers are using different builds and doing well with said different builds and by that logic survivors shouldn't have to run 2-4 perk slots to counter killers etc.

I wasn't expecting a Freddy buff this mid chapter. The devs had already mentioned before that they need more time for it. As far buffs for the killers are concerned, the healing time nerf is a buff for all the anti-heal killer perks. Thanatophobia, Dying Light, Coulrophobia, Sloppy Butcher are all insanely buffed now. It'll take upto 120 seconds to self care, if all these perks are used.

No survivor with 2 working brain cells will self heal in the terror radius of the killer. So coulrophobia would never apply.

To be fair. It's a very theoretical scenario. And kinda a form of overkill to use all of those perks at once. It only shows how it makes these perks stronger.
And you are right Coulrophobia is very situational perk. But even if it makes survivors stop healing and reposition themselves, it still delays the heal a bit. And besides it useful in certain slugging/heal scenario, when they ned to finish a heal before you approach.

There's actually been some killers running Coulrophobia with Distressing and either Nurses and or Unnerving Presence which makes healing difficult.

@Dwights_leftfoot I wonder if it would help if scratch marks were, say, white instead of red. I generally dislike the endless demands thrown at devs, but this would be very helpful. I'm sure you're not the only colorblind player. Plus, it doesn't look like a very difficult thing to do, though I don't know the first thing about programming, so not sure.

One big problem with that is Freddy, since the dreamworld is white you'd have to make the marks either super bright white or make the ground solid black.

  • Okj and how many people can loop well like that, I know I can't and I don't really want to know how to either. I mean be honest here what % of the playerbase not named Marth88 or Depip squad can do that?

  • I'd say instead of the 625 you get now which I've always said is way to low make it 1500-2500 per depending on how long they were in the match.

You could also if all 4 leave within the 1st say 30 seconds to 1 minute the killer gets there items back but only gets the 625 bonus or say 1250 per for a total of 5k if all 4 leave.

It could scale based upon time whether they get the addon(s) back so that way if the match goes for say 10 minutes as an example. They don't get to keep their items if they played that long because they'd have gotten points or should've.

Hex perks at least have to be cleansed and make it into the trial and I can choose to run them or not. These survivors don't get that option. This is literally giving the finger to the survivors who choose to play it the way the game was designed and balanced.

    Pre-game chat exists, you know.

Yes but what if a person is going for the Adept achievement or more than 1 is, they can't both run it. You could do the activation requirement but have the obsession automatically meet it.

The others would have to do something to activate it and no chasing the killer around isn't a good way since that doesn't solve the problem.

If it's a mix of say generator or altruism stuff activating the perk it'd be a fair way to balance it and the 1st person hooked shouldn't get screwed.

So either 1 full gen done either solo or in conjunction with others overall or 1 full health state solo or in conjunction or 1 safe unhook.

The 1st person hooked if they're running DS should get a chance to earn the needed objective conditions. If they get hooked again before meeting those conditions they're out of luck.

Once the 1st person is hoooked everyone else is on their own if they don't get the conditions met unless they're the obsession.

  • @Orion said:

There was a thread with a similar suggestion. Long story short, I agree with this in theory, as long as there's some way to objectively verify that the Killer has no intention of hooking anyone and nobody can get back up. Otherwise, you'd just have Survivors doing this to troll each other (let's not pretend it doesn't happen) or to get out of the trial faster without DCing.

I'd say No Mither should be immune from this or if you did the faster bleed out No Mither would be unusable until you get healed up then suffer status penalty.

You'd still bleed and grunts of pain would be 25% louder even with say Iron Will since the debuff from bleeding out faster would override both Iron Will and No Mither for 120 seconds.

That way you can't troll with that type of build and dcing would negate the bonus for bleeding out faster. As for verifying the killer that's kinda a tough one.

But that's the risk the survivors take with going the bleed out timer, the killer might just be mind gaming you so they can ignore the downed person.

Now for trolling each other there's not much you can do since it's an issue already other than it gives the trollee a quicker decision making process.

Maybe if the perk didn't make an activation noise so you are likely to only see the aura when looking in that direction anyway.

Better idea is make it likes doctors screams work, you see the aura where they'd been but not where they actually were.

So instead of showing the actual pallet being broken/gen damaged you'd just see an aura going off or perhap even what killers see when a vault happens.

You just get a noise notification that something happened over there but not what.

i like this, it fits the theme of the perk a bit more as well, as opposed to magic wallhack powers the survivor is just able to locate where the sound is coming from, being alert

Yeah it won't hurt swf but it also won't be like a wallhack like some videos either, you'll know aout where it's at but not totally clear.

For the pro groups whether 2,3, or 4 man swf that have everything memorized it's not really gonna help and might even screw them up.

  • @Origin @yeet The discussion made me think of something and perhaps it's already been discussed before. There wa sa thread it might've been @Nickenzie where a bleed out option was discussed allowing the survivor to bleed out quicker.

Now currently if the survivor bleeds out the killer gets nothing so it behooves them to get that hook in quicker but for survivors sitting there for 3 minutes is annoying as well.

So how about this idea that benefits both sides similar to the bleed out idea in that one thread.

The survivor can choose to increase their bleed out and kill themselves faster so if it's normally 3 minutes it's now 1 and 1/2 minutes instead.

If they're on a 30 second timer well now it's 15 seconds instead and so on and this ends the frustration for the survivor. For the killer they get to decide what to do much quicker but also have to decide what's more important now.

    Bonuses to both sides idea.

For the killer, if a survivor decides to bleed out quicker then they have a debuff added to them similar to the broken status effect but this is an exhaustion effect.

If they get healed up they have an exhaustion status effect and their blood drops and cries of pain are 25% bigger and louder.

This is the trade off for going this route for the survivor, you take a chance you won't get rescued in order to force the killer to either go further away looking or come closer.

As a bonus if you bleed out and the last survivor makes it out successfully you get a bonus to blood points awarded post trial.

For the killer you get a death bonus for the survivor dying trying to let the other person out if you kill the other survivor. If you get the other person you get 2x the bonus instead of the normal bonus for killing them.

This is the killers reward for taking the risky action of letting that person bleed out and possibly getting nothing for 2 survivors instead of nothing for just one.

Note: This definitely needs some tweaking since it's based upon only 10 minutes of thought.

The one i laughed at because maxed out on points since they wanted to make me suffer by dragging the game out.

The only way you'd call it hostage taking is where we discussed this before with the killer repeatedly picking you up and dropping you.

After the third drop, you wiggle free. Still not hostage taking.

    @yeet said:

they can't be held hostage this way because of the automatic wiggle out

I was referring to where i'd discussed not sure if you were in that thread where the killer wouldn't actually hook you but kept picking me up and chasing me.

The other match was the killer would wait until I had a crow then drop me and carry me around and if I didn't wiggle they'd simply carry me everywhere.

If I wiggled free they'd simply chase and down me then rinse and repeat.

  • One thing is what if the killer say Billy since we've all had this happen just happens to charge in your area and tunnels you till he downs you.

You didn't make a mistake since he just randomly charged into where you were near nothing objective wise. But because you got found 1st you either have to loop him forever till he gives up which you killers hate or eventually get caught.

So it's not your fault in that sense that he found you 1st like that so why not give wiggle points but make them similar to struggle points.

But as someone else said you get diminishing returns and it should never be more than what the total would be for end game struggle.

So say max 250 1st time and max 150 the second time with 3rd time if you get that far 50 and nothing after that.

  • @yeet said:

DC'ing in any context should be punished, but letting the killer kill you shouldn't only because you're not exactly breaking the rules of the game. It sucks to be another survivor in that game sure, but they didn't do anything wrong really. However I do think that if someone gets hooked, struggles, then let's themselves die within say 25 seconds of being hooked then the other survivors shouldn't suffer a penalty to Benevolence.

Also I'd like to note that there is an item farming strategy where you equip Plunderer's, AITH, UTA, and Pharmacy with a White Ward, raid all the chests until you find something you like, then jump in and out of a locker in the basement or something until the killer grabs you, then you die on the hook and keep the item. Again, sucks to be the other survivors in that game but if the person was at least somewhat considerate they would have opened all the chests before they did it so that maybe some other people can escape with a nice item.

Well letting the killer kill you is technically griefing/working with the killer to screw your teammates over. However in this case the killer is an unwitting accomplice in the jerks strategy since as far as they know the person went the wrong way etc.

The killer might be suspicious of what's going on if the person straight up runs into them and hugs them so to speak but I don't blame the killer for taking the free hook.

I do like the Benevolence penalty idea since that'd cut down on the deppipers griefing intentionally and at least the killer still gets their sacrifice points.

But I wonder if they should get more if the person dc's/gives up within x time if the killer isn't camping. For instance the killer hooks them and runs off to far side of the map like say a Billy.

Well you go for the unhook 10 seconds later and the person gives up/dc's, the killer has a good chance of at least hitting that person again perhaps even a down/hook.

Shouldn't they get a little extra for that I mean it might not be much or even worth it but make the quitter bonus if they dc higher when on the hook.

  • @yeet said:

did i claim that they where ok? no i didn't, DCing to affect the outcome of a match is cheating, it allows the other survivor to get an escape that they otherwise wouldn't have by breaking the rules
you can also still win if you are slugged as the second to last person, it isn't an impossible situation
if you can't handle getting slugged then this isn't the game for you since you have no problem not getting slugged

Did I ever say I can't handle slugging, no I didn't but yet another failed insult attempt from you, you're getting desperate and dcing isn't cheating.

No matter how much you want to try and claim it is dcing isn't classified as cheating, is it against the rules yet. Is it cheating in the definitions no.

Cheating is considered modifying the game files, lag switching to give yourself an unfair advantage by manipulating the games performance itself. Cheating would also be using MLGA to know who's who in the lobby.

If you can't handle the truth and these simple facts this most definitely isn't the game for you.

    @RSB said:

Ah yes the typical response when you have nothing else but insults and no actual facts to back up your claims. But hey if people are upvoting you they must be bots doing so using your logic right?

  • @yeet said:

do you find lagswitching and killers DCing if their ruin gets destroyed early understandable?

The logical fallacies continue I see, lag switching is cheating plain and simple and isn't the same as dcing so stop trying to equate the 2.

As to your question they're not understandable because you can still down survivors and hook them, you can still damage gens.

You have the ability to affect the outcome of the game still using you're own skill, but hey nice try with that failed argument again.

It's obvious you seem to think that lag switching and dcing before the match has really even started are ok as long as you're a killer.

If you can't handle a Hex totem getting destroyed early then this isn't the game for you since you have no problem if t doesn't get destroyed and you get to use it.

    @CallMeRusty420

Just to be clear I understand the survivors dcing and again I don't agree with it just as i don't agree with killers dcing. This is especially true if the match has only gone a short time and you can still affect the outcome by getting hooks etc.

But some want to keep trying to equate absolute cheating with dcing which while both are against the rules one if much more highly detrimental.

  • @yeet said:

lagswitching and DCing are both illegal actions, so why is one "understandable" and one "cheating" to you?
The topic of the thread was slugging the second to last to get a 4K, if only 2 gens have been done the hatch won't even be visible at that point
slugging and DCing also aren't comparable, because one is a valid tactic and one is against the games rules
other people in the thread claimed that slugging is "holding them hostage", if they can say that then I can say that looping is holding me hostage
or is breaking the games rules only "understandable" to you when it benefits survivors.
    Hypocrite.

I said I understood it and apparently you still can't grasp the fact I said and I quote so you can't miss it again as you try and twist what I said.

  • @yeet said:

slugging someone to go find the last person isn't earning that last kill? Why am I then not entitled to lagswitch to catch someone, you aren't entitled to free time from a chase, go earn that chase instead, I mean you're holding me hostage by looping me!
I think it's pretty disingenuous how you're only defending this because it benefits you as a survivor player, that killers have to be punished for survivors taking an illegal action (DCing) in order to deny me points.

Slugging to go find someone is fine but going straight to the hatch and camping it isn't actually looking for that person.

Also nice Red Herring and go ahead and lag switch and get banned then, one less person to deal with because they can't play.

You also know full well that lag switching and looping aren't even remotely close but then again I'm not surprised you'd try that logical fallacy.

Now this is rich I'm the one being disingenuous here when I'm not the one throwing out garbage like equating lag switching and looping to each other let alone holding the game hostage.

It doesn't benefit me as a survivor but it benefit both sides if neither one can just sit there and do nothing. Also yet an

Oh yes here it is where you quite obviously saw it and completely ignored it so you could try and logical fallacy like usual. I've even** BOLDED **it for you so you can't miss it.

only time I intentionally suicide while on the hook is. A: to give the other survivor a chance at the hatch. and B: if the person coming to save me was the one who sandbagged me to get me on the hook. I wont let them farm me for points. so if your seeing people suicide with you coming at them on the hook odds are, you did something to them that they do not feel you should receive a reward in bloodpoints for the action. also at the same time. i wont bother to go save some one if i see them hooked and they instantly try to kobe down to struggle state. i will leave them hanging.

In this case I've saved the person before even taken hits for them but whenever they're 1st on the hook it doesn't matter who comes to save them they quit/suicide.

  • @yeet said:

Then what is the counterplay to the hatch supposed to be? "Let them get a free escape just because"?
survivor is easy enough as it is, why can't i, as killer, DC to make it so survivors don't get escape points? If you think that this is fair game then surely you also think lag switching is fair game?

The counterplay is go find them before it gets to that point, if you camp the hatch and they refuse to go near it then you either give them the hatch or go find them.

You can't have it both ways ehre, you say they don't deserve the free escape well you don't deserve the free kill either. So you go find them, give them the hatch or have a standoff but you're not being given a free kill.

That's the same logic you killer mains have been saying for years now, you don't deserve a free escape, well you don't deserve that free 4th kill either.

When they allow closing the hatch then you can't whine about it anymore and then you have to GO EARN
    THAT KILL !!!!

I'm actually looking forward to that and hopefully they get rid of Whispers at that point as well so it's a true horror style.

One where it's not about looping but about actually outthinking your opponent and you have to decide where to go on both sides.

Says the killer with made up rules mad because they can't have their 4k on demand. Now before you get the pitchfork out I don't agree with the dc but I understand it.

If you're going to leave that 1 person then camp the hatch while they bleed out or soft camp them close enough to the hatch.

Then you reap what you sow so to speak and it's no different than killer whining when someone goes and hides.

You get mad that last survivor is immersed and refusing to give you an easy 4th kill, well guess what you haven't earned it.

So quit camping and go find them since isn't that what killers want, survivors that don't sit there and loop endlessly?

I have no need for d-strike so they can do whatever they want with it.
How come there's no Kate or spirit avatars on here?

In the meantime join the sacrificial I mean beneficial society of leather faces. We hold daily basement meetings, have BBQ's and talk about all things salty.

I know 😟 I’m about to get my 3rd devotion point in the next few days and it seems pretty pointless

Same I hit Devotion 1 the 1st day or so and just slowed down from there because it felt so empty and then starting over you got the same rewards at every level even though at a higher Devotion level.

Wind up, wind up, wind up. You dont realise what losing two add ons to just get a instadown means. Its devastating how nany pallets hits or loops are required for you to get that one hit. If you play incompetently enough that you cant abuse the huntresses hatchet limitations or low hatchets ammo you deserve to get wrecked. I honestly would waste a shadow ward on the heads i save then for my babushkas and infantry belts. Iridescent heads are a meme for weaker terrible survivours.

Wind up big deal they jump a pallet they're fresh meat since you can't miss. They go to vault a window well fresh meat as well you can't miss.

The only ones that miss are those with bad aim, the good killers that either use overlays both ones on their screen and actual overlays don't miss.

Those are the ones that make those items op and broken since they're so easy to get.

    What is slugging?

It is where you as the killer down multiple survivors without hooking them. It is an effective way to apply pressure on survivors.

Usually weaker killers such as Freddy, Leatherface, pig etc gain some big benefits from slugging rather than just individual downs and hooks.

I see a lot of nurses and Billy's doing it all the time at rank 1 and 2 usually with knockout but then people realize it's happening and go to farthest corners of map to frustrate them.

  • I used it once on my Trapper when I 1st started playing, never used it since although I've still got to do my adept on Bubba.

    Back to topic...

    That was awesome.

Now as to maps they did say that on ptb they're reducing map sizes on some maps. I don't know about the other changes though.

It is the rise of the Leatherface,,,,, The forum can not take this much BBQ and Chili

Didn't you see the thread asking for a BBQ & Chili nerf?

Yeah 70 meters was a defining moment.

is the game (the map) even 70 meters wide?

Some maps are over that distance at their longest point say Macmillan, Crotus, Autohaven, Red Forest. The Haddonfield/Springfield maps if done from one of the street to the other end wall wise perhaps. But those 2 are probably pushing it and with the maps being made smaller on ptb it'll be close.

  • @MandyTalk I just saw the comment in the DS thread and it reminded me this is probably better being moved to Balance and Feedback as well.

I think there is a lot of merit to the this idea, some things would probably need to be adjusted (obsession requirements etc) but in general I think it's a good idea.

I'm moving this topic to Balance Feedback - as it is going to get lost in General Discussions (plus it belongs there anyway).

    Thanks for the feedback.

A map that is dark and has lots of LOS breaker is an advantage for killer in general for him to "sneak up"?
Ever heard of something like a "Terrorradius", dude?^^
Of course there are some exceptions -mainly Myers- that can take advantage from it, but since survivor have 3rd person view instead of 1st, this is usually not a good mapfeature that would benefit the killer.
Of course there are situations where it is difficult to pinpoint the direction of the killer and a smaller one like Hag with a smaller TR can sometimes confuse a survivor, but that is usually again the survivor mistake that the killer capitalize on.

For Trapper the whole map is terrible, because swamp is BIG and the traps are far apart to collect and Trapper has to waste more time and you can't trap the whole map , not even a good part of it.

Same goes for Hag... BIG map, slow movement speed and limited port range, not a benefit for her at all.

And Pigs camera crouching is so low that survivor can go unnoticed right beside her.

Nothing you said makes The Swamp a good map for killer,.

But you are right in one point, this whole thread was not about the Swamp, but about the Family Residence.

You totally ignored the person above who plays Hag on that map and Pig with zero terror radius in ambush mode. Shelso good even in non stealth mode since her model is so low to the ground like hag's.

Did you ever hear of that thing called you now Monitor and Abuse that helps killers sneak up on people, you know the good perk that good killers use.

Then the typical it's a survivor mistake and not a killer making good plays excuse.

You've obviously never played Trapper well enough nor Hag nor Pig to be that good on them if you think the map is bad for them. The map isn't big compared to say Macmillan Estates etc,

You also can't trap the whole map and nice Straw Man there since you could never trap a entire map ever. If you place traps well you do well, if you suck at placing them you suck at Trapper plain and simple.

That's why good Hag players place their traps with care and where it best suits how they intend to play. If you suck at placing her traps then you suck t playing Hag, plain and simple.

If you sduck at playing her then you won't notice that survivor which is why you don't tunnel vision and you pay attention to everything not just what you see in a narrow cone in front of you.

The good Pig players pay attention to sounds of movement, of breathing, of if the grass is swaying showing someones there. They also pay attention to if grass isn't straight up like normal signifying that hey there's a survivor there probably.

The bottom line is that nothing you said makes the Swamp a bad map for those killers, it in fact makes you a bad killer with those killers on that map.

To finish I summon my esteemed Leatherface society member @Lowbei to give you the gift of killer main logic and wisdom.
