Agreed. I love her audio.
The only thing that bothers me is her pallet break animation. It's just so odd from her perspective.

I'm...sympathetic. Whether it's as strong as people are making it out to be, adding another defensive tool for survivors on top of the current issues with boons and DH comes over as mildly ridiculous.
I mean - Halloween was well done. Everyone could take their chances on a pumpkin and get a potential boost. The devs clearly know how to make an event that gives both sides a new tool.

The gloating sometimes is just laughable. However there is no reason to tunnel when someone dc'd there is no reason killers cant 9 hook 3 survivors in that scenario. I play for 12 hooks and win most games. That is why my empathy towards tunneling killers is meh.
I got 3000 hours and at least 2000 of that is killer (just got into survivor in the last 6 month heavily). I have to slow the game down drastically ofc which right now is SHPR, BBQ, Plaything, Pentimento. The pressure it creates is massive.
Well, at 3000 hours you are probably experienced enough to pretty much do as you like and have a reasonable chance of winning.
For us intermediates, when we get certain maps/matchups/killer combinations, we have to sweat a bit.
That said, I am genuinely curious as to how you're going about getting 12 hooks every game and still winning. Do you stream/have a YT channel?
DCs...yeah. It feels like that sometimes there isn't a 'right' answer. I can end the game fast and get cussed out for not giving them a chance, or I can give them a chance and get cussed out for not just ending.

I’d say codling the younger generation to such an extreme degree can only set them up for failure. If they aren’t able to cope with random strangers spamming a crouch animation in a video game, especially to the extent that they need it to be removed, they may not be able to deal with all manner of things later in life.
Interesting.
I'd say that allowing kids to be jerks without consequences is way more 'coddling' than teaching them about sportsmanship and discipline.
I'm an educator and I see it in schooling too - in my day, pushing a kid down the stairs would likely have gotten you expelled or at least caned. Now it gets you candy and counselling. Cheating would probably have meant a month of detention - now it gets you free extra classes and a 'special' test. A few years ago I got a reprimand for bawling a teenager out in class and making them stand outside, as this was dubbed as 'unfairly singling them out and not being sufficiently respectful of their feelings'. The kid threw a pencil case at the back of my head because I told him to stop eating in class.
Millennials are already more apathetic and less empathetic than even Gen X was (the data on this is...legitimately scary) and I can only imagine what the next generation is going to be like.

It’s no the killer’s job to keep track of which survivor they have hooked and spread it out evenly.
I...seriously hope you aren't being serious. Because that's the exact opposite of the killer's job.
@chargernick85 said:
Its a sweaty move that sweats do....just like your typical gen jockeys. Killers feel like they have to because of the current state of the game but yet will do it at 5 gens remaining with 3 survivors remaining because one dc'd.
Both sides are sweats honestly and care toooooooo much about winning in a hide and seek party game.
DCs are a tricky matter. A DC (or worse, 2 DCs) at 5 gens means that the game could potentially take ages unless you just go AFK for 5 minutes or something.
I'll generally ease up on people when they have a DC, but it's a delicate balance to strike - and I've been threatened with 'holding the game hostage' reports for not just ending things more than once.
Otherwise, no - unless playing the game correctly is being 'sweaty' (which is usually code for 'you beat me and I'm unhappy about that'). If killers try to 2 hook everyone, they aren't going to win many games.
My policy is generally to go in hard from the start and once I've established the sort of survivors I'm up against, either continue or start pulling back. Everyone gets more BP in closer games - but I'm sick and tired of getting gloated at and told how terrible I am at the game after I expressly gave people an easier time of it.

At the end of the day it’s a video game and we’re talking about things like spamming a crouch animation.
Yes, it's a video game.
Gaming has become, at least in the developed world, probably as popular among young people as sports are, if not more.
We generally try to teach youngsters how to be gracious winners and non-salty losers in sports - and there's a good reason for this. It helps them substantially later in life.
Why shouldn't video games get the same treatment?

This in my eyes has been the best event BHVR has ever done. bravo BHVR bravo!
Also i can't stop doing a voice impression of the spy from Tf2.
Hah.
Yeah, if I see someone making a beeline for the gates in a snowman suit, I'll generally give it to them (unless they've been a toxic little gremlin that game).
What I don't like is how snowmen can be used tactically, or eat certain killer powers (so glad I'm not learning Ghostface right now).

I love dbd, I’ve played the game since release, but why are killers tunneling so much lately? It’s almost every other game and i only see nurses, blight, bubba and trickers because it seems they’re the best killers for being a complete d*ck. The game is super unfun, I don’t have complaints with killer because killers is overall fun even if I’m losing honestly. But playing survivor is so boring and unfun. What y’all think about this? Are y’all having the same experience?
'Tunneling' isn't really a thing to complain about, unless people are tunneling straight off the hook (and even then, that's what BT/allies are for).
One thing to always keep in mind is the Rule of 3.
If 3 survivors remain by the time 3 gens are finished, the killer now controls the game and barring serious misplays, will probably get a 3-4k.
If 4 survivors remain by the time 3 gens are finished, the survivors now control the game and barring serious misplays/perks like NWO or NOED, will probably get a 3-4 out.
If you, as a killer, try to 2 hook everyone before killing them, you're either getting teabagged all the way to the exit games or MMR mismatched you. Killers are supposed to try and eliminate 1 survivor as fast as possible, because that's just the meta right now.

Just did this one, first try.
Honestly, your best bet is 2x 'Calm' addons and not to kill people too fast. Distressing can be helpful if need be. Discordance is great for this if you have it.
The other Doctor challenge...now that one is a bit harder. It's basically a slightly easier version of his Adept.

It didn't seem to work perfectly. Even on killers I'd already unlocked it on have 'Jolt' now. The only killer with the OG 'Surge' is Demo himself.

If nothing else I can understand why someone would complain about using both together, since you can potentially have your location revealed regardless if whether you're close or far. Avoiding one leaves you open for the other.
That said, I recently watched a video of a guy complaining about a Myers using Brutal Strength and Bamboozle, so I know not to take it too seriously.
Also, again, Freddy.
Mm.

Doctor always surprises me - it's probably the #1 killer that people DC instantly against. What is it that bugs people so much about him?

I have played with her and I had no issues against Jonah with overcome. It was barely noticeable. Some of her add-ons are really strong with the correct perks tho.
Shackles are great, especially with Rag. Heart+Egg are fun, but sort of useless once they realize what's happening. The 'aura reveal' one is mostly useless, and the rest are basically 'do stuff faster'. Wider trigger range is (imho) worse than an empty slot though.
'Bodyblock' Hag is awful unless you get Midwich, RPD or something consisting entirely of narrow hallways.
I mostly run PR+Surge+STBFL/BBQ(for BP)+Monitor on her, which tends to be pretty solid. With Monitor, her terror radius is almost nonexistent.
-
@BillyAndStu said:
With the removal of Hawkins RCPD is now easily the most infuriating maps to play killer on. I never had a problem with it before boons were introduced into the game but specifically CoH makes the map unbearable. If you play killer and get unlucky a boon 2 floors above in the library covers a third of the map. Maybe im more mad at boons but RCPD highlights how one sidedly broken boons are currently.
I've...learned to live with RPD, especially since they seem to have fixed that bloody infinite in the office.
The thing to remember is - it sucks for survivors just as much as it does for killer. It's a miserable map all round.
Pick one half of the map, including the gen in the hallway and try to force a 3-4gen situation if you are on a killer without traversal. Yeah, it's a lame, boring way to play but there isn't much you can do. Also remember that the hatch often spawns on the second floor of the library, and to avoid getting into chases in that room otherwise.
If I had a dollar for every time a survivor has hit stage 2/died on hook because his allies couldn't figure out how to reach him...I'd probably be able to afford pizza for the family.
The major issue with RPD imho is that boons can cover literally half the map and you'll never be able to find them.

Not recent but my all- time favorite was a Meg who got mad at me for using Barbecue and Chili and Infectious Fight together. So angry she rage DC'd when I downed her after killing everyone else.
Thing is, using those two perks together might be complaint-worthy... had I not been playing Freddy a killer whose whole thing is negating his own terror radius (I use Infectious precisely because I find it hilarious when it works).
Why on earth would those be complaint-worthy?
That said, man I get accused of hacking a lot as (at least pre Artist) I was on a info-heavy kick and ran Discordance, Lethal Pursuer and BBQ every game. Now I'm on a...different, more ungabunga train with Surge, Pain Resonance, Agitation and STBFL. So, so satisfying.

Well, when I think of a solution, the only thing that comes to mind that could actually work is a better report system.
What do you think you would do to solve the issue?
I've suggested this in another thread.
Some sort of endorsement/rewards system - postgame, you can give your opponents (note: not teammates) a 'thumbs up' which will reward them with some bonus BP. Maybe some cosmetics at certain breakpoints.
This would incentivize being mannered.

Now, I don't want to sound too radical here.
But can we double the DC penalty if it happens immediately after/around your first down?
I literally can't have a single good Trickster game, because someone with commitment issues immediately decides to peace out and I have to let all the others go or else I feel bad.
I just want to go brr.
I agree.
The DC penalty in this game is...way too soft. At least 1 in 5 games has someone DC on first down/before first hook so evidently people don't really care about the penalty.
The hardest part of doing an Adept for me is still getting a group that won't just DC.
@KateMain86 said:
How do you know they left? What if it was a power outage or game crash? Either way, the DC penalty should never go past 5 minutes anyway. If someone doesn't want to continue a match they shouldn't have to without fear of a stacking penalty.
Because it happens incredibly frequently when you down someone for the first time or when you try to hook them, especially when you are playing specific killers (Doctor, Trickster, Bubba, Cenobite). I'm sure other killers will back me up here.
@Yatol said:

While its true that a lot of people DC when killer camp/tunnel, DC'ing only increase tunneling and camping. Slaping on hook is unnessary and toxic BM but there's just no way to remove it. This game tends to get frustrating but if it gets to the point that staying in a match you queued is too much to ask, its time to switch games.
I never camp unless it's EOGC. I'll tunnel, sure - but only to the extent of 'do I chase the guy with 2 hooks or the guy with 0' strategic thinking. People aren't DCing because of that, they are rage DCing because they got caught early or they don't like the killer you've chosen.
Hitting just after the first hook serves a purpose as it cuts the scream short allowing you to hear stuff sooner.
It's not always done for BM.

I actually recognized two of them, who I'd encountered previously AFKing a week or so back - probably purposefully dropping their MMRs down pre-stream to look better. I remembered the legacy skins/names due to me wondering if they were hackers.
I played my butt off (Doctor) and manage to 3k them, would have 4k'd (P2 escaped) but lagged when I tried to close hatch. Toxic little gremlins too - clicky clicky teabag teabag, using snowmen tactically and bodyblocking like champs.

- One idiot complained I was trash for “using NOED”. I had killed all four of them before the generators were done so NOED never would have triggered. Also, I wasn’t using NOED, I was using Thanatophobia and the icons are similar.
- Back when we had Ranks, I had a red rank 1 player running all meta perks on a team that burnt a Hadenfield offering call me a “tryhard” because I Mori’d his friend using my Ghostface with random perks (I don’t remember which ones, other than I think one was Deerstalker.)
Oh man, yeah - 'sweaty' and 'tryhard' don't even slightly bother me now. It's basically shorthand for 'you won'.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
Yes, we know that it's boring. But there's a reason- the perks are meta because they cover up fundamental flaws in game design in a lot of cases.
There's a reason DS is so common- the second it's unequipped we're tunneled out of the game. There's a reason BT is so common- the second it's taken off we get facecamped.
There's also a reason why Corrupt is so common, or PGTW, or Ruin and Undying- because when they're taken off, the game suddenly decides to pair you with the best of the best known to mankind and- oh would you look at that, all gens are gone in 3 minutes who'd have thought.
The meta perks make the game longer for both sides, which is why they're meta- they're the best because they give the most amount of time actually inside of the game.
It's just frustrating, feeling so shoehorned into using the same perks every single game. I'd love to experiment with builds but I'm pushed into using the exact same ######### to stand a chance because wouldn't you have guessed it, the matchmaking doesn't let you use anything else because it doesn't work and one game you're facing sub-20 hour players, the next a 10k hour tournament squad
It works a little differently for killer and survivor.
For killer, certain perks are meta because - yes, they cover for other weird balance issues. The other (and I'd say bigger) reason is that there are just far too many killer perks that are either completely/mostly useless (BOP, Overcharge), incredibly gimmicky (Coup, Dark Devotion), have a bizarre drawback/limitation/cooldown (Dying Light, Oppression) or just don't work within the current meta/mechanics (Penti getting countered by boons, for example).
Survivor perks are the opposite. There are certain choices that are just too good not to take. It's basically playing the game wrong. Dead Hard is the best example.
And yes, MMR is very weird sometimes.

The worst was a 4man TTV with Russian names that I ran into a bit back, who refused to end the game - they 99%'d the final gen and then decided to meme for over 30 minutes with sabos, bodyblocks and flashlights making it impossible for me to get hooks. (shrug)
It's less of a big deal on hag, personally.
Hag is generally where I get BMed in postgame for it - although that's probably because, while not quite as powerful as some make her out to be, Hag is pretty good and people have no idea how to play against her a lot of the time (I've had situations where people don't even register that I'm a killer at first).
But yeah, I wish small killers had a different lunge animation so people would realize that yes - that was just a standard lunge hit.

I really don't love Freddy lunges and Ghostface lunges. it always feels cheap to get hit by a lunge that visually misses.
I get this all the time on Hag - it's really just a matter of a smaller killer model having the same range. It wouldn't be fair to reduce their lunge range artificially.

Who hurt you? What went wrong in your life where annoying others is your only source of pleasure?
Some survivors will hang around to BM.
Others will hang around until all 4 are safely out, in case I get a last second hook.
Honestly, the exit gate BM is annoying but the survivors that really grind my grapes are the ones who'll 99% the final gen and then spend 30 minutes memeing with sabos, flashlights and bodyblocks or play hide and seek. It's insane to me that this isn't against the rules, as a coordinated group can make it nearly impossible to finish the game.

This spills over into computer games, so when someone is teabagged, they expect the state (BHVR in this case) to fix the uncomfortable feeling for them.
A consequence of social media and political correctness gone mad.
Eh...
I'm an old fart and fondly remember the days before everything had automated matchmaking.
If people were BM back then, you could just write their ID down somewhere and just kick them from your lobby if they tried to join your games again or avoid their lobbies. Communities were self policing for the most part, whether it be at the individual level or server level. If you became widely known as a jerk, you'd struggle to find people willing to play with you. If you were known as a skilled, fun and mannered individual, your lobbies would fill instantly.
Now, there's zero accountability. I'm more worried about how kids are being conditioned to enjoy making others miserable with zero consequences.
It's essentially the Wild West versus modern times. In the Wild West, I couldn't go to the sheriff, but if I had a problem I had the...tools to fix it myself. Now I have to rely on the cops.

Before I start I know this is a emotional topic for some people but I would love if we can discuss this normal and calm.
So when ever I see a tipoc about campig/tunneling/swf/genrush what ever many people try to argue that you have to think how unfun it is for the other side and that kinda irritates me. I played many games in my life starting from good old unreal tournament and wow and lol to dbd and New World atm. One thing that all this games have in common is a pvp aspect but never have I seen a community so invested in discussions about fun of the other side.
Why is that such a big thing here? I don't think the sniper in shooters think about the fun of there enemy when he picks them of out of a Hugh distance and the can't do ######### about it.
I have never seen someone demanding you build weaker items in lol so your enemy has a better time.
And to make this clear am I a big fan of face camping and hard tunneling from the hook? No I find it boring to do but it can help you win. (whatever you count as a win as killer) and the same goes for swf, meta builds and so on
A few things.
- I played UT and UT2004 way back when (let's not mention 2003) and if you were straight up being a butt, whichever server you were on would probably remove you. A lot of them had house rules to ensure that things were fun for everyone, some - for example - had 'no spawn/item camping' rules. Others were more of a wild west.
- Multiplayer was quite different back in the day, as communities were much smaller even for popular games and automated matchmaking wasn't really a thing yet (instead you'd generally host or join servers/lobbies). If you got known as a BM player, people could just choose not to play with you. Communities were self policing and you had the tools to exclude/avoid people who played in a manner you didn't like.
- Gaming has evolved from a niche hobby into the mainstream, and automated matchmaking has become the norm. It's something a lot of us old-timers have problems with as we are used to these smaller communities where all the veterans knew each other.
Basically, it all depends on the individual now. Honor system and all that. It comes down to recognizing that the other side are also human beings and that a game which is fun for both sides is better for everyone. Personally, I play in a manner reflective of my opponents. If you are playing chill, I'll play chill. If you want to bring a sweatsquad, I'm going to tunnel like a demon.
This game also has a lot of imbalances, particularly in terms of maps, and bringing a strong SWF with a Badham map offering is the equivalent of spawn camping when you are already a top tier player. It's...just a crappy thing to do.

I don’t like it because to me it comes across as saying F you. Same as when a killer constantly smacks you while on hook.
That at least serves a purpose - it cuts the scream short so you can hear stuff nearby sooner.

This event has been amazing for my killer games! Survivors spawn in and rush to a snowman and hop inside. Then they come looking for you to get hit! Is this not the early game delay killers have been yelling for?! I know it will stop once everyone has their cosmetics but I'm enjoying it as of now
I've literally never seen a group doing this.
What happens in my games is survivors making a beeline to them mid chase to use as an easy extra health state, and sometimes possible SWFs will use them to bodyblock really effectively. You can almost totally block a hook with them.

I hope a new game comes out that's so good we can all sit back and watch this game bleed out nice and slow.
Maybe then the Devs will respect their players and actually give a ######### about their game.
Nah, I don't want that at all.
As frustrating as this damn game can be sometimes (and how much of a gigantic enema it needs to get rid of the huge amount of toxic players, hackers, griefers and the like) I really do enjoy it and just want it to be...better. Which, even compared to a year ago, it is.
I just want the glacial pace of much needed balance changes (boons, maps, weaker killers, weaker perks on both sides), refinements to the MMR system, a good anti-cheat etc. to be kicked up a notch.

Here's the thing VHS and Propnight both play extremely differently from DbD. VHS isnt even the same concept as DbD.
Will they give some competition.....yes they will but not in the way as anyone thinks. As for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game......my hopes not that high because how buggy and broken F13 was.
It will take a game EXACTLY like DbD to bring it down.
The other thing that people forget is that it's entirely possible to enjoy multiple games simultaneously.
I'll bounce from DbD to Starcraft to whatever singleplayer game I'm enjoying in the course of a weekend.

I will miss snowmen for sure ;(.
Yeah. I really hope this event gets a few tweaks (not letting it break certain powers, not letting certain killers negate them without giving cosmetics, maybe not letting them be used as a powerful defensive mechanic).
It's extremely charming otherwise.

Let's face it, we all love DBD. It's why we keep coming back, and it's why we flood the forums and social media with both praise and hate. Lately it's been more hate, and it's not hard to see why. We all want to see DBD thrive, but there's been no serious competition, and for too long BHVR has enjoyed the barren landscape. Why change anything if nothing threatens to contest the throne? But now just around the corner we have VHS, Evil Dead, and now The Texas Chainsaw Massacre from the makers of the Friday the 13th game.
Friday the 13th could have been something really special, and serious competition for DBD if only the developer hadn't been forced to abandon the project because of ongoing litigation with the property. Hopefully one, if not all of these properties will prove to be worthwhile competition, because DBD sorely needs it. Only through quality competition can we start to see changes for the better.
I'm really glad to see some more competition - as much as I love (and hate) this game sometimes, it does feel like someone needs to light a fire under the devs especially regarding balance and variety.
F13 was...eh. Just so, so janky.

All of this could have been avoided if they didn't tank a hit the way they do. If they at the very least made it so you get inflicted with deep wound this might be fine.
This would actually be a really elegant solution.

One of the finest pieces of Christmas animation ever produced, immediately made me think of that.
I literally get chills whenever I hear this song.

I prefer to wait to get some non miserable killers.
Actually i don't wait at all, my morning q's are a few seconds.
That's so weird. Mornings are 90 seconds on killer, at least 5-10 minutes on survivor (I've had queues of almost 20 minutes). Peak is more like 10-30 seconds on killer, 2-5 minutes on survivor.

i've been actually having so much fun playing him like, usually it's stressing to play killer but for 2-3 days i've been playing only him and i've had so much fun, and mostly 4Ks too, I really wonder what changes they will do to him in later updates, but he's really not this bad, try him with devour hope, it's hilarious to be the deadliest stealth killer.
He's...woof.
His 'rework' came out at essentially a nerf to him, factoring in addons and he's just really clunky - necessitating a second rework apparently coming in the midpatch. I enjoy him, but I'll wait on the upcoming rework.

The way I play her tends to result in lots of hits in quick succession, and I can at least try to 'herd' people from snowmen into heavily trapped areas.
