  • hello, im just here to fullfill my obligations and drop the absolute gem called: Bioshock.

it fits wondefully into dbd, a big daddy as killer, Jack from the first and Elizabeth from the third game as survivors with Booker and adult Elenor as skins, Rapture as a map and a bunch of skins for both survivors and killers are possible too

  • no thanks.

lightborn is the only way i can play killer for medical reasons

Out of curiosity and for debate's sake: when do we draw the line of influence having an impact on people's behaviour? A 17 year old has possibly had pretty much the same time as a 20 year old adult. And depending on the case, maybe a 17 year old has had much bigger chances to learn that a 30 year old.

that is a very good point.

of course we need to keep an eye on the personal situation. i personally would rather give a 20 year old the benefit of the doubt that he can still change that still lives in the abusive racist home then one that is already out of that place and in collage or whatever you do at that age for quite some time now. i really dont know what age you have in collage.

and in billys case for example he is not only still in the abusive house he is now also isolated in a small town and he is very much still a kid. but honestly in dont know why we consider anyone under atleast 25 to be actually an adult, between 18 and 25 they should count as trail adults or something xD

The original script for season 2 had Billy saying racial slurs, I'm pretty sure that more than implies that he was written to be racist. Don't think it matters that he was influenced by his father.

he was written to be very racist which then got changed to have racist implications.

i do think the influence the parents have matters when we are talking about a child. because thats what billy is, he is not an adult he is around sixteen when we see him first in season two and is somewhere between seventeen and eightteen when he dies.

he did not had a chance to unlearn the racist behavior thought by his father. if he where an grown man that had all the chances in the world to see his behavior is wrong and to be better i would agree that the influence of his father would not matter

  • @indieeden7 said:

As sexy as I find Dacre Montgomery with a mullet and moustache, I'm pretty sure the duffer brothers themselves explicitly confirmed that Billy was a racist. It would probably be best for BHVR to avoid incorporating him into the game.

well yes he acted racist but its highly debatable if he was a racist or simply emulated the racist behavior of father cause not doing so would have earned him even more physical abuse.

originally billy was supposed to be way more racist then what we got to see but Dacre being the gem of an actor he is worked so much on the character cause he really only playes characters he finds interesting and likes. and he absolutly refused to say the n word.

but billy being racist to whatever extend is not or better should not be of relevance if we look at the characters we already have.

we have bubba who is a canibal that tortured people and atleast in one movie he was a #########. we have freddy and its reboot freddy which means he have certified pdf in the game. we have wesker who is all kinds of fckt up including toture, enslavment and medical experiments. we have springtrap who is specifically a child killer and he likes it.

and thats just licensed killers. we have a bunch of unlicesed ones for this list too and while the survivor side naturally looks better we have tauri "ritual murder is my hobby" cain.

i would say a racist isnt that much of a problem.

  • i am all for billy being part of the game he is one of my favorite character of the show and Dacre di such an incredible performance especially when billy was possesed.

i would be cool with him being either a survivor or a killer skin but if he becomes a killer skin thats an instant buy even if i dont currently play that one is going to be my new main

Exactly the point. People EXPECTED a big reveal. Noone from BHV stated that there is gonna be one. It just says "no peeking" on the roadmap and not "big killer reveal". People just convinced themselves that it's gonna be that and now are mad that it didnt go the way they imagined. Perfect analogy to DBD honestly.

I mean they advertised the stream with "some is unfolding, you want to see this live" that's very much them generating hype and sounds very much like "we will show you something actually interesting" like a teaser

  • @MrMori said:

We should just remove the lobby entirely instead, it's a terrible system that wastes time and encourages lobby dodging which wastes even more time and ruins matchmaking.

But you're right about a ping limit, the game should not allow you to matchmake in regions where you have say 150+ ping in. The only issue is that this might make the game unplayable from certain locations that don't have servers or even enough players near them to actually play at a reasonable ping, which is bad.

Yep that's the only reason why I am against a max ping limit.

There are regions where bhvr don't provide servers so they just have to have bad ping

  • The implementation of the dr system is not the end but only the first step.

Bhvr plans to work on all the perks that are affected by the system because all these perks where only worth to be used in combination but that also meant you could not buff all of them individually to make it worth using them separately.

They want the perks good enough that you can consider using them in your normal build instead of one of the meta perks but if you just do that then they are broken in combination.

Now that we have a dr system we only wait for buffs

  • Him being small is part of his kit. You are supposed to not see him as good as a tall killer.

If we consider your wish would that mean we would have to make sadako more visible too because she absolutely is less visible then springtrap or nemesis. In fact every killer is less visible then nemesis so they all need some kind of visibility enhancement.

The game unfortunately can't take everything into consideration when designing killers. And just so you don't think I am just some healthy guy that can't understand struggles like yours.

I am hard of hearing so I can't play as or against sprit but giving me a workaround would mean something visual and that would make it way to easy to locate her as a survivor and it would make it way to easy locating survivors as spirit. I cant play without lightborn. For me killers basically only have three perk slots, my brain does not like it when I loose vision in games while being able to move around. If I get blinded at a pallet and try to follow the survivor via sound (which is hard when you hear bad) I get dizzy and it takes more then ten seconds to reorientate once my vision is back which ultimately leads to every blind being a full on stun against me.

But if we are honest taking away the vision loss from the blind takes away a core part of the blind

  • yes.

while i get why we dont get such icons for all the diffrent people that are available via legendary skins legion deffenitly is a special case with all four of them being legion and not just a skin

  • Offerings should be shared amongst all characters even across sides.

When it comes to items and add-ons I'm not sure. You could allow all survivors to share all items and add-ons but that obviously isn't possible for killers so that could be perceived as unfair.

Except bhvr is able to give every add-on a number like you have iri 1 and 2 and then you have like 50 iri 1 and that's iri button for legion but scratched mirror on Myers

  • ill be honest here, i do dodge lobby as a killer but it is very rare.

sometimes its when i see like a bunch of russian names cause those are often toxic or when it is very obviously an swf or ace with pants and that stupid hat ^^. but thats like once a month so i could live without dodging these.

but there is one kind of lobby i always dodge no matter what and thats ttvs. if i see a ttv i always check if they came with their crew, not because i fear their strenth but because every single game on my top 20 worst games of all time list was against a ttv and their crew. and they are always so full of themselves and get hyper toxic when you do anything they deem unfair and since hey get bbacked by their viewers and crew they jus go all out

  • i still wish they add Billy as a skin for Steve and Max for Nancy

if absolutly needed for balance reasons it could also handled via addons but then please let it be lowest rarity. sucks to have an addon that makes a killer way more fun to play and then its rare so you dont get to play it as much as you want. (looking at you scratched mirror)

Antik cheat clearly doesn't work and hackers always find new ways to get around it and make new accounts. Survivors can move on to another game with a 10 second queue time.

Everyone that plays survivor sees making a killer DC as a badge of honor. It's always funny and satisfying when it happens. the only one negatively impacted would be the killer. Again, stop ignoring my point. I was held hostage in 3 straight cames and forced to DC each time.

Your point does not change the facts.

survivors wouldonly rarely if ever be winning a game again if killers could dc without penalty. That is what would happen, why would a killer stay in a game he won't win when he can just w for the next?

  • @TohsakaMine said:

Sorry. Most people have friends, unlike you apparently. The mode is a great way to have fun with friends, or to grind out BP in survivor mode. Also, queues arent 10+ minutes for killer in 1v4. Longest ive had the past week is 4 minutes. This is an ultra loner take.

Also, the only complaints i see about this event is how survivor/killer sided it is. The average DBD complaints lmao. I don't see anyone mad at it's existance.

    Ok this is unnecessarily mean.

I don't have friends that play dbd either that does not mean I don't have friends at all and I never bothered to find friends that play dvd since I exclusively play killer so having dbd friends was never something worth to put time into

The skill checks are kind of outdated now with the go next prevention. Even if you lose a bit of time by missing them, there's still more than enough time for someone to get you. And if they don't, either they weren't trying, or the Killer was proxy camping…

Or the survivors were trying but they messed up.

The killer being able to see the survivors going for an unhook cause they aren't even trying to be sneaky and then stopping them isn't proxy camping

Agreed I think most killers belong in 2v8 but plague is the rare exception cause she has the same problem as legion she would need a total power rework or like a skull merchant treatment to be able to be in the mode

Yeah that's why 2v8 will never truly be fun for me.

Both my mains can never be in the mode which is understandable but still sad

Except when a killer DCs, survivors can instantly queue into another game. Sure, players are petty and will DC over the smallest thing, but you failed to address the main point: the hacking. Have you ever been held hostage by hackers? I literally had a game where I said "screw it" and went AFK for 20 minutes, and the game was still going, and I was still trapped in the game. I have faced so many hackers lately, and my penalty is up to an hour, and there's nothing I did wrong. This is the issue. The game used to exist without matchmaking penalties, and it was fine. The issue is survivors are a team, so when one DCs, they all suffer. That's not the case for killers.

Hacking is a problem that should be dealt with via the anti cheat.

Regardless that you don't have team mates that suffer when you DC as a killer, without a dc penalty my point stands. Killers would just DC when the game does not work out for them

  • its a complely diffrent playstyle and honestly i dont like to play him normal

  • No DC penalty means games won't be finished so I'm this case no game where the survivors are winning would be played to its end and only games where the killer dominates will.

The second something goes sideways the killer would dc cause why not?

    • First chase was to long
    • Mind game didn't work
    • Power missed
    • Pallet stun
    • Any form of save be it torch or palette
    • Lost a mind game
    • Doesn't like the map
    • Doesn't like a perk that got used
    • Doesn't like hex spawn

All this would just make killers dc

  • I hated old map offerings they only reason I miss them sometimes is that scratched mirror just doesn't hits that nice on outdoor maps and with it now being an iri (worst change in history it should be a brown) I would like some control over the map

  • Yes let it be a very strong perk for at least a month so every single survivor runs it.

Sincerely a legion and plague main

  • The thing is tunneling will always be a thing.

Its not going away, bhvr can try to discourage it but there is a balance in doing that.

I mean what do you want bhvr to do? They are trying to discourage it but the last anti tunnel ptb has shown that it's not easy to find ways to discourage tunneling.

Survivor have proven that they will use every defensive tool they get as a weapon if they can. I personally don't tunnel with the sole exception that the unhooked survivor uses the basekit BT to block me from going for the unhooker and by god this happens almost every game.

And working with incentives for the killer doesn't work great either. Turning the game into a 1v3 is the strongest thing that can happen so any buff you can offer the killer would need to be quite strong to compair. And let's not even start with the fact you would need to adjust whatever incentives for every killer cause a trapper does need significantly more then a Billy

killer that is just a bunch of crows in a trenchcoat when?

  • Vader? Pahh

    Jason? Pahh

I forsee the anniversary chapter and I tell you it is going to be a T-Rex

  • That's less a question of "can they" and more a question of "should they"

Bhvr obviously can do that but the matchmaking of DBs is already pretty messy

  • Well we can't win I guess.

If I play meta killers and perks people are angry and if I play of meta killers and perks people make fun of you cause they brought meta builds.

Or I play my two mains legion and plague and get a DC in the first five minutes of the game and then either all survs slowly DC or I get cursed at in chat when I didn't let the other three survivors go cause that's for some reason my responsibility

the people that made (and are still making) a huge deal out of legion being killswitched for a long period of time like it was an intentional decision by the devs.

i may wasnt intenional but it was a huge deal because i was for almos he whole bloodmoon event.

not only does it already suck to be unable to play your main not being able to pu levels into them was so bad and bhvr did even had the heart to drop some bloodpoints to say sorry

  • If they make a Rebecca legendary skin (which would a crime if they don't) I would have a second survivor next to Eddie I would never kill cause I can't see her die again just like Eddie

  • Because there is no way to ever tell you actually crashed.

As long as the reason for the DC is not at the server itself the game has no way to tell if your pc crashed, you pulled the plug, your whole town lost internet, if the connection got cut somewhere between your location and the server, etc.

So to have a functional anti dc system every dc gets punished the same. Otherwise everyone would "crash" their system anytime they want to dc

  • I do this but it has two different types.

The first is the guy that very obviously wants to be chased. He is always around, he clicks his torch, he tbaggs, etc. You all know what type of survivor I mean.

That guy does not exist for me, if he does not literally run into me to body block me I ignore him all game. 90% of the time those people get increasingly desperate to be chased until they screw up and land on hook without any actual chase. And they are always so so so angry in chat it's a delight.

The second is Eddie. Yep that's it, you q against me and you use Eddie and don't act like being toxic is a competition and you aim for the title then you will leave this round alive.

That does not mean that I don't interact with them tho. I do chase them, I do hook them and I don't just allow them to do gens in my face but I will make sure they don't die. And I even go as far to extend this to every Eddie present, if it's two Eddie's both will escape if it's four Eddie's they all will escape.

I do get angry messages for this sometimes, not from the Eddie but another surv that feels the need to fight this incredible injustice they just witnessed. I don't care tho, I just can't see Eddie die again

I too hope those becomes possible some day.

I imagine it's tech difficulties. As with so many things in DBD, I bet it's an all or nothing problem either the character is fully available or completely shut down.

from wha i have heard is because you could force yourself into a lobby wih tha killer via the bloodweb with some exploid that they dont get closed

  • The thing you must understand is that they want to do meaningful buffs to those perks now that dr works the problem is that bhvr strictly holds on to their update schedule which means those buffs will be tested with the next regularly planned PTB.

The did the same mistake with anti tunnel and anti slug. They need dedicated pubs for big changes like this

I just don't agree with that. I think most of my wins playing as Killer probably come (at least in part) from a certain degree of Solo/DuoQ inefficiency. I know a lot of the player base complains about that, but I genuinely believe the game is balanced around Survivors not all being on the same page. It's necessary for Survivors to have gaps in their knowledge for a lot of Killer powers and perks to function.

I don't think the community really realises how much in the game would need to be changed, reworked or buffed on the Killer side if a SWF on comms became the standard for balance. Bottom tier Killers like Legion, Trapper and Ghostie would become totally unplayable. And DBD would become an almost completely different game by the time BHVR were finished re-balancing everything.

The thing is swf exists so it is relevant to the balance, that's a fact that can't be denied. You can either balance for one or the other but not both and if we focus on solo q then you end up in a situation where the killer just gets stomped because he got matched with people on comms.

So there are only two ways to handle this. A. Get rid of swf or B. Try to close the gap between solo q and swf as much as possible.

I think we don't need to even talk about option A. That is not going to happen and while the gap can never truly be closed if they get as close as they can that's good enough for balancing or rather it is better then whatever happens now

  • I am absolutely sure the game is able to detect where everyone is at any given time.

They could make it so when survivors stay in the exist gate or not actively move towards/move away from the gate while the killer is not even remotely near them or the gate and no one is hooked the entity gives them a ten second grace period and then they die.

that honestly has a bit to many ifs and when's but it sounds thematic.

The best solution is actually super simple. When a gate is open the killer can go into the basement, a circle of runes or entity spider legs or whatever appears. If no survivor is hooked the killer has to stand in the circle for three seconds and then the endgame timer gets reduced to twenty seconds.

Leaving the circle obviously puts the timer back at its full capacity and deactivates the circle so it can't be used again.

And booom the problem is gone just like that

  • The thing is my second most wanted license right after bioshock but to do the source justice the thing has to be able to pose as a survivor which is instantly destroyed by swf existing.

  • I think overall that hook timers are in a good spot. It's not too short so you can slam gens against a camper and you don't have to drop everything and run the second someone gets hooked. But they are not too short either so the killer still gets pressure from hooking and that's an important part too.

The hook should call for some urgency, at least to a certain degree. It's important to remember that bhvr never tried to get rid of camping as a whole and only wanted to crack down on Facecamping. Because the killer should be able to defend his hook, the hook is a point of pressure especially the longer the game goes because a hook in a position that lets the killer have an eye on the last gens and the hook can win the game.

Now you could argue that the changes did nothing cause now the killer is standing outside the camp range. But honest question, what should they do?

I mean hell they could obviously get rid of camping tomorrow if they want to, all they need to do is make every hook stage last 90 seconds and just like that camping is dead on the spot. But if we look back at what I just wrote this would lead to the hook losing his pressure and his urgency.

And the anti Facecamping feature is pretty much at its limits, there is not much to enhance with that. The bar can't fill to fast and the radius can't be to big or the hooked survivor, which is the objective of the killer becomes a zoning tool against that killer and that's pretty stupid. And let's not even start with the programming of this game and different floors.

In the end there is not much more bhvr can do against camping without taking away pressure the killer can generate.

I mean they could obviously do that but that would need to come with big basekit buffs to make up for that lost pressure

  • I don't play him unless I use scratched mirror but that's an iri now.

Add-ons like that should be brown add-ons so you always can use them

Keep in mind im talking just about the stunlock animation, not about the free hit that comes with hit. Discussions about the free hit are different.

I honestly think It only is because it is tied to the free hit.

  • Matchmaking is already bad enough

Lightborn definitely isn't healthy and definitely needs changes- it's the same reasoning as Distortion, you can't have something be completely passive and also hard shut down an entire archetype of tools on the opponent's side, it just isn't reasonable.

I also have this suspicion that Lightborn can sort of stunt a player's skill development, because whenever someone brings up Lightborn being kinda messed up, there's often responses that seem to imply you need Lightborn to counter flashlight squads, which obviously isn't true.

Putting that aside, though, I don't think you need to go too overboard with Lightborn changes. I've maintained for a while that what Lightborn should do is still let the blind go through mechanically, just not affect the killer's screen (+ obviously still give the aura afterwards), so that it allows blind-related perks on both sides to still activate while still providing its own benefit and still helping out people who have accessibility issues with the blind visuals.
If we really want Lightborn to still protect against flashlight saves on top of that, then that part should be limited, like with a token system or something along those lines. Some thought and skill should go into outplaying flashlight saves no matter what perks you bring against them, after all.

As someone that relies on the perk for health reasons think this is a good compromise.

Let it always block the visual effect since I don't think any survivor actually cares about that and make the safe immunity token based.

The only addition I would have is that either the tokens need to be fairly easy to acquire or a token only gets consumed if it actually prevents a safe.

There simply is no good way to play around getting blinded when you need to break a pallet, if that eats tokens too the perk is worthless

Mandy you guys are going to kill your game that easily has another 10 years of life in it. Completely ignoring your community on the way the current game looks from the graphical direction change years ago. To literally ignoring the new generation console that is infinitely better than the original and could actually play this game really well. Right now no one has anything else to play, but you guys had to remove Michael Myers from your shop for the new game coming out already. Your entire player base will abandon you the reddit thread getts hundreds of comments daily about people complaining about this stuff. You guys simply havent even add day/night variants of maps like Overwatch even has that. When a game takes off you are supposed to ride the wave yet all you keep doing is fumbling the game. The biggest streamers don't touch it anymore Sodapoppin used to bring 40k people to this games section. How do you actually lose that when the players still want to play but you refuse to make any meaningful changes?

There are plenty of reasons to complain about dbd at the moment but the lack of a switch 2 version is not it.

No one speaks about that, I just looked through all the big sub Reddits for dbd and found no one complaining.

And bhvr didn't decide to take out Myers that's on the rights holders that wanted this cause Myers gets their own game. The same goes for pinhead and Demogorgon and demo shows quite good what happens when the plans for IP focused games don't work out, they come back to bhvr

  • No thanks, lightborn can stay exactly the way it is.

I get the survivor pov of wanting to go for saves and making a build around it and I am normally always pro build diversity but I be totally honest with you when it come to lightborn I don't care about the survivors and I need to be a little bit selfish here.

First of all I second everything shanoa above me already mentioned.

And second if lightborn would be changed in anyway that takes away the 100% immunity that would probably be the day I uninstall for good. No I am not unable to counter flashlight saves I do know how to do it that's not why I run lightborn.

I have a medical problem with flashlights. For whatever reason my brain does not like when I lose vision in games, when I get blinded and I move around to follow survivors via sound I get dizzy and it takes me more then just a second to get a grip on where I am in the map after the blind endet. (This isn't a dbd exclusive issue for me)

This essentialy turns every blind into a full on stun for me which means against someone with a flashlight looping would be the horror cause every pallet break would mean I stand there until the blind is over.

So that means without lightborn I would have to dodge every lobby with a flashlight and if a survivor last second swapps or bring residual manifest or just finds a flashlight by chance in a chest I can't chase that survivor and realistically this would mean I am better of not playing the game.

Bhvr can help those people that use lightborn cause the blinding triggers their light sensitivity but my problem can't be fixed cause losing vision is kinda what the blind is supposed to do.

And yes I know the game cannot cater to every problem even so they should try their best with filters to help people for example with plagues vomit. But we don't talk about me wanting something added to the game, I already have a solution in game right now. I pay for the problem I have with a perk slot that could be used for a perk that is stronger. Yes it happens that I completely counter the build of someone but from my personal experience this happens relatively rarely and many survivors just bring a flashlight without a build around it. And it happens way more frequently that I essentially gimp myself and no one has a flashlight so I only run three perks since I don't specifically equip lightborn to counter but always have it in my loadout.

‹ 1 2 3 … 35
