  • The only thing I noticed is that apparently queue times are faster when you are not playing while waiting. If I just queue and not play while waiting I often find games after 20 minutes instead of the estimated 45 minute queue time.

My guess is that if someone leaves a lobby it pulls someone else that is available out of queue no matter the estimated time.

Not one of the most used Perks. Neither of them. Nowhere to Hide also did not get nerfed in this PTB.

Nerfing WoO and claiming it is because of the pickrate is the same level of nonsense like saying that BBQ deserved to be nerfed when it still granted Bonus BPs, since it was the most used Killer Perk. The Perk does nothing unhealthy and yet is on the chopping block because of outcry.

Thats the funniest thing I've seen today. :D

If just enough outcry from one side was enough to force changes from the Devs, gens would probably regress at 500% even while survivors are working on it, killers would have to play and win a match of meet your maker at the start of every match before they are allowed to move and if u camped or tunneled, ur PC would explode and ur personal information would be mailed to the FBI.

Jokes aside BHV has shown and made clear in the past that they nerf and buff perks and killers according to numbers and not outcry or feedback. So claiming that survivor perks are dead now cause killers threw a fit is basically just instigating another us vs them situation. Same with killers claiming their perks are dead now cause survivors threw a fit.

I just find it super funny that many players apparently think that the Devs go to work in the mornin, open the DBD forums, see the top post titled for example "nerf pig by survivormain111" and are like: okay let me get right on that.

  • But isnt this just the natural conclusion of adding "play while u wait"? Like before many players probably looked at the killer queues for 2vs8, saw that they were above 30 mins and said screw this im playing survivor. Now people look at the 45 minute queues, start queuing for killer and play survivor while they are waiting. Probably also the players that said the queues are too long before. So theres just way more people in killer queue and the queue time increases.

  • At this point I'm honestly not even sure what tunneling even really is because the term is just randomly thrown around all the time.

As a solo queue player I see so many surv players that do random sh.. and then blame the killer for tunneling in the end. Like they get unhooked and start following the killer for FL save, get smacked, dc and write a long essay in endgame chat why they got hard tunneled.

Or they get unhooked and insta sit on a gen in front of the killer and also cry about tunneling.

Or the killer didnt go for every of the other 3 survs before they come back to me

    Etc.

Yeah hard tunneling still exists in some games but the whole tunneling situation is blown way out of proportion by now. If you look at endgame chat or even this forum u get the feeling that tunneling happens in 90% of the matches which just isnt true

I definitely get the concern towards people quitting or waiting out an FF but we have to be honest about the state of the game, Survivor in Solo Queue feels absolutely horrible to play right now and in like every third or fourth game someone quits, oftentimes not even a DC just someone not playing the game. I Would agree with the devs sentiment of wanting people to play the game until the very end but they are not going to achieve better results by endorsing and allowing forms of gameplay that people loathe, combined with the already high amount of survivor mismatch in lobbies and then keeping people in the match by increasing penalties rather than increasing reasons to play until the end.

I would agree the killer should be able to forfeit at a point too, as it happens they can already quit and it just stops the game for everyone anyway so why make them get longer queue times if they're getting stomped and obviously need a more valid matchup for them? this would also help overall game queue times for killers because rather than the last few minutes of games feeling hopelessly wasted on a regular basis, people would just go next and be back in queue.

The Devs can say what they want about "not focusing on making the game competitively Viable" but it's pretty clear that's the trend over the years over a fun casual atmosphere.

DBD allows Insane toxicity, some of it is even technically "playing the game to win" despite many players running inflammatory names and participating in those playstyles purely to make people angry, and so they can't be surprised when people want out of matches that are just toxic to experience. its not a case of "The Killer is Winning so they are Toxic" but if i am on hook and there's a survivor lapping the map looking for dull totems I deserve to be able to leave and not be penalized for it.

I am interested in the MMR rework though, maybe it will do a bit of good in making matches less agony, i'm hoping so anyway

I mean I agree about the horrid state of solo queue but I still don't think a forfeit system is the way to solve that. If you give players an easy way out without penaltys they will use it every time a match doesn't go their way. And if a match goes their way the other side will forfeit. Most of ur matches could literary be u spawn in, sit on a gen for 50 secs, killer insta forfeits and you go back to queue and repeat this cycle. Like yeah you won but basically didn't play. Same goes the other way, if you give survivors an easy way out they will use it whenever they can. Would be like in the old days without dc penalty where most of the matches had either the survs or the killer dc in the first minute cause it looks like they won't win.

We already have an abandon system that makes sure u can leave when there's truly no more chance of winning. That's honestly enough.

  • Would honestly be a horrible idea cause way too abusable. You also would need to give killers the same out option a la "2 gens with no hooks=forfeit". Since we all know that skill based matchmaking is just a myth , probably 70-80% of matches would not reach endgame collapse, people would throw on purpose to get into forfeit range, people that want to forfeit while their teammatea dont would just throw, etc. It would cause a whole lot of problems.

Also I don't think the focus for the devs, as they have stated many times, lies in making the game competitively viable but more that people just play their matches from start to finish. After all we have throw penalties, dc penalties and bots to keep people in matches till the end. A forfeit option would go pretty hard against their previous changes.

But high ping survivors can be dodged because you them having high ping in the lobby.

Not necessarily. Many players have good ping during the ready up and then their ping dies during the match

  • I really dont see why this is specifically a killer issue? Having survivors vavuum pallets from like 10 meters away or having to wait 5 seconds for every animation or not being able to pick up at all just cause their ping suddenly goes bonkers is also just annoying. Played Huntress yesterday against a survivor that fluctuated between 30 and 700ms, which basically means u have to M1 them cause u wont be able to hit them otherwise.

  • Queue times are incredibly time of day dependent for me personally. In the evening I get instant killer queues but have to queue about 5 minutes for survivor and in the morning killer queue takes like 15 minutes while survivor is instant. But I've been playing since 2019 and it always was this way so I dont think killer queues dramatically changed over the years unless there are events.

  • I think its cool that they got the license for the 10th anniversary.

But I almost feel like jason fits in almost too well into DBD. For the 10th anniversary I would have wished that they maybe get a killer that breaks the normal gameplay loop a bit more and is more of a breath of fresh air. Jason in the end, as cool as he is, will still just chase u around with his machete, probably lay some traps and maybe have some kind of teleport and that's it.

Personally I think a Blair witch killer that maybe copies or possesses survivors and can control them for a short time or a slender man that can't do basic chases but works with teleports and jumpscares or can create proxys that chase survivors would have been cooler and what DBD needs imo to break the gameplay loop a bit more and stop it from being so stale.

  • Like from a horror icon standpoint there is imo not really a better pick than Jason for the 10th anniversary. He is one of the classics and all time greats up there with Meyers and Freddy and Co.

From a gameplay standpoint alone I am a little disappointed. It would have been cool to see how BHV implements someone like slenderman, who doesn't really chase and works more with teleports and jumpscares, into the game and the fresh wind that comes with that. Jason fits the formula almost too well.

But he is cool and im happy that it finally happened

  • I really don't understand why people are so mad about the reveal stream and the little hints they give for what the killer might be.

I mean there's like 40k people watching either the stream itself or streamers that are watching the stream and trying to uncover who it its and analyzing every little movement in the stream. I've rarely seen this much engagement from the community as a whole.

But apparently many people just want BHV to go: " Hello killer is Dora the explorer, See you Tuesday, bye" for the 10th anniversary

  • They should honestly just rework the entire security door mechanic. The teleport is absolutely not worth it for survivors. Almost no reward for the risk and I think I've almost never seen anyone use it on purpose.

Also it makes the springtrap achievement to grab 20 people out of the office an absolute drag.

  • @Mrpugalug916 said:

A time based asym and survivors are given every advantage to waste the killers time yet the killer has almost zero agency left after nerfs. Gen speeds get buffed while gen regression gets nerfed. Sloppy butcher gets nerfed to 70 seconds making it to where survivors dont have to worry about their macro play while heal speeds get buffed to oblivion. Tunneling was an effective strategy in a game with no rules but the devs caved to made up survivor rules and added anti tunnel mechanics and then buff basekit borrowed time to 15 second. Please explain to me how this isnt a survivor sided game again? Every patch we just have to adapt to new things survivors get to do and just be told to get better as killer. Survivors have never been told by the devs to get better but every patch, the devs tell us to adapt. Ghoul got nerfed because of trash tier survivors lol a killer we paid money for just to be gutted a week later because of survivor tears

I swear I read this exact text in another post 3 minutes ago just with killer and surv switched. Shows you how deep down the us vs them mindset is anchored into ppl

  • I feel like the 4 zombies are mostly fine. They are more of an additional challenge than actually opressively strong.

Though from what I've seen they sometimes tend to linger around hooks or sometimes even bug themselves into the hook cages, making unhooking an automatic trade. They should probably either trigger relocate after a certain time or just die when they are in the direct vicinity of a hook for too long

  • His biggest problem is honestly that we are in kind of a prerun meta. Many survivors run sprint burst or are on comms and will just prerun the killer if they hear the terror radius start or thr killer remotely looks in their direction. Because of his movement speed he has a big issue catching up.

On the other hand trickster feels incredibly deadly close range and can down multiple survivors easily if he gets close enough. I've had very good results with an oblivious build on him and many survivors just downright gave up cause he was so oppressive.

On the other hand I agree that on some maps he feels very bad to play. In many loops on his own map you can't even keep chase cause he's so slow and you lose LoS for so long that chase just ends which results in potential infinites.

But if you buff his movement speed you probably have to nerf him some other way so he doesn't get too oppressive.

  • @Negatron said:

I appreciate all the comments but, I am old school I Guess. All this aura bs is making the game just for meta coveting sweaty try hards and not horror fans who want to have fun.

Well as a killer player I am of the opinion that running around toba landing for 15 minutes, having to double check every bush and locker cause I can't find any survivors to chase is honestly not that much fun.

But honestly though. I had games that lasted like 30 minutes just cause the survivors were on comms, calling out where I was and was going to and presiding. So I at least run nowhere to hide or darkness revealed to eventually find someone.

  • Yeah like 90% of my matches happen on toba and nostromo regardless of killer I play or face. The rest is macmillan or coldwind. Haven't gotten any other map in the last 2 weeks. Just those 4. It gets boring real fast tbh

  • Old DS was honestly way to problematic to come back. Unhooked survivors could just rush the final gen or go for an otherwise suicidal unhook in endgame knowing they are protected by DS. It was basically a lose lose situation for the killer just because of one perk .

I mean even today's DS is often not even used as Anti Tunnel. In many of my games survivors with DS, unbreakable just instantly run at the killer after the unhook to bodyblock for their teammates and either get profit from DS and unbreakable. Not exactly the point of an "anti tunnel" perk.

  • Honestly the least they could do is implement some kind of detection system that checks if everything in the match is running normaly (survivors and killers having normal movement speed, gens are not instantly being completed, people not getting insta revived etc. ) and if it isnt just make it possible for everyone to abandon instantly.

Its so annoying when u get multiple cheaters in a day and can basically either wait it out or DC and be banned from playing even though u did nothing wrong.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/461370/why-is-the-nurse-still-bugged-after-2-years

There’s too much content in the game and BHVR doesn’t have the resources to maintain it all. That’s why bugs stay in the game for years and bad perks and bad killers that desperately need reworking continue to get ignored. The problem only gets worse with every new chapter as the mountain of content to maintain grows bigger.

I mean yeah there is a lot of content by now in DBD but at least the game breaking bugs should be fixed. Like textures bugging out or sound bugs can happen and noone would care but many bugs that actually disrupt gameplay also remain unadressed:

    • hit validation on huntress, slinger and plague is super broken and noticeable by now. People scream and don't get hit or get injured even though they weren't hit. At least from what I've seen this happens regardless of ping.
    • Houndmasters dog being naughty and doing whatever he wants including diving of the map
    • Big killers getting stuck in the environment
    • Demo melting into a rock when trying to shred
    • Wesker still bugging out in 2vs8 making matches unfinishable
    • Ghostfaces reveal mechanic where sometimes u can't reveal him when he's super out in the open, standing right in front of you, but next time reveal him by seeing him trough 5 time zones, 4 windows and 2 cracks in the wall
    • Skull merchants drones get eaten by the entity in the sky for no apparent reason
    • Nurses rubber banding issue
    • Dracula not being able to attack in dog form
    • Etc

In the end I guess we just have to accept that bug fixes don't make money and therefore they will probably remain in the game for some time longer. Guess quality of life update didn't include bug fixes.

  • It has definetely gotten worse for me personally. Played 4 solo queue survivor matches this morning and at every single one someone died at 5 or 4 gens without anyone else getting hooked.

It might also just be a personal feeling but I feel like the general toxicity has gotten even worse in recent weeks. Have never been humped on the ground or hit on hook as much as in the last few days.

Maybe the power trip rants were true after all

  • @SoGo said:

    Good for you.

The issue is that the entire pallet update was a mistake start to finish.

The first one, which added a ton of fillers, was the developers way of trying to nerf Blight and co. in the worst way imaginable.

This update, they overcorrected, so now the pallets are trash 80% of the time.

So we learned that this whole pallet update was a mistake and it needs to go back to the 9.0.0 version.

Put some more pallets on Rancid Abatoir, Haddonfield and other maps that REALLY need it, and end it there.

I agree with OP that I've also been seeing a lot more killer variety since the latest update. I mean I've even seen two artists in the last 3 days. Haven't faced an artist for like half a year before this week.

Going back to the old update also means that the weaker m1 killers are less viable again and therefore variety will once again go down. And a lot of people are also tired of facing the same 3-4 killers almost every match. Imagine it's hard to find the perfect middle ground where there's enough easily mindgameable pallets that weak killers still stand a decent chance but enough strong ones that survivor doesn't feel absolutely miserable

  • Might just be me but I'm guessing that the pallett density nerf is in preparation of the anti tunnel system that got recently scrapped cause of the backlash. After all if the m1 killers stand more of a chance cause of less pallets a stronger anti tunnel system might actually be viable

  • It might honestly just be SBMM doing it's thing. After all the s tier killers will still win more clearly and consistently than pig, trapper etc. So if you are just ranked high enough as survivors those killers are naturally what you get.

Personally im a mid/low tier surv and I've seen a lot of variety in my recent games and even a few skull merchants. But that might just be me

  • Players simply need someone to blame for changes they don't like.

Since they can't get a reaction from the devs, cause they just act like criticism doesn't exist, they blame the other side. At least killer mains show a reaction with posts like this one.

  • I know Im in the minority with this but I really don't get the narrative that this happened cause the killer side just cried enough.

If just crying and complaining in this forum was enough to stop changes to this game it would still be in the state it was in 2020.

You even have many killer players in this forum complaining that the changes are dumb and should be reverted, yet it's still their fault.

In the end noone knows if it's because people complained. Might as well just be that the numbers weren't right or the devs played the game themselves for once and had a bad killer game. But this narrative of every bad change for my side is the other sides fault is literary the bane of DBD

  • Switches between 1.25 and 1.5 for me.

Even though killer queues are almost instant still

  • Might just be me but I really dont understand how people still believe that complaining about changes has any sort of influence on what BHV does. It just isnt how they operate, they even stated that themselves multiple times during Dev Diarys and proved so in the last couple of years.

If the devs decide that after the next PTB using dead Hard will also autocomplete 4 gens then that is the changes that will make it into the game. And if they decide, they dont want strong antitunnel, we dont get strong antitunnel.

So people should honestly just stop always pointing the fingers at the other side cause it makes 0 sense. If you want to be mad that you dont get strong antitunnel, be mad at the devs and point at them.

The Dracula and Pyramid additions to 2v8 are more of a sponsored addition rather than Behavior picking killers people would want. While I believe every killer needs time to be looked at and implement, there are still ones which would be very easy to add still, from the original ones or licenses like Chucky.

Still though, not even asking about what people would want to see in 2v8 only leads me to speculate they're doing it on purpose, having already planned on only adding a few killers every now or then for some… reason.

Not sure if chucky is that easy to add tbf. He has a balancing issue since he's super slow but might be too oppressive if he's buffed to 4.6ms for 2vs8.

Also his size might be problematic as well. As Dracula in wolf form ur nearly invisible on dead dawg for example. Chucky would be the same

  • @JohnNemesisMan said:

What surprised me is that there was no question about what killer they should consider adding next. Its the thing everyone comes to expect with every new 2v8, yet they didn't bother asking it in the survey. Almost like they're holding out to adding new killers on purpose.

I would guess that Dracula and PH were the easiest to add from the remaining popular picks. They both mostly have unproblematic chase powers. The remaining killers would probably require some sort of rework to their power or are to unpopular to add

if they want more people to play to survivor they have 2v8 out more than 3 times a year and actually add new classes to survivor.

Not remove a killer to please people who are gonna dc and still continue to complain anyway.

I guarantee if they had stats to back it up, we’d see them removing legion did nothing to bring more players in on the survivor side.

If BHVR wants more survivors on 2v8 they need more classes, and better incentives to play, more killers and maps would help retention on both sides too. They shouldn’t be releasing surveys fishing for what killer to remove next.

Objectively Legion probably was removed cause he was the only killer in the 2vs8 lineup that had a build in slowdown and almost map wide detection.

Also he was way too present especially in the last 2vs8 iteration. Probably around 80% of my matches had a legion and from what ive seen on this forum many other players had a similar experience. If that's true I can see why BHV felt the need to so something about legion.

He was super fun and satisfying to play though. Just zooming around the map chaining hits.

  • Many possible reasons:

    • Theres the 2vs8 event going on with a big BP Bonus so I guess a lot of survs are playing that especially with the play while wanting Feature
    • Its high gaming season so some players are leaving to play other games
    • Its actually Region dependend since u are locked to ur closest Server
    • Mmr Might play a role etc.

In general dbd queue times have always been very fluctuant. Also the average queue time for south America is 3 minutes which isn't really that long.

  • Frustration and boredom.

Game often feels like just a pallett stand off Simulator. Most players rarely mindgame cause just running from pallett to pallett is way more efficient. So many chases especially with m1 killers always feel the same. Also everything (builds, looping etc.) is super optimised on most survivors which adds to the feeling that it's always the same.

But also frustration. I really want to play every killer but I feel like with many killers I just have to be prepared to get absolutely rolled. Not talking about winning but the feeling that you stand absolutely 0 chance in this match just cause of ur killer pick and cause ur not playing optimised af

  • @MDRSan said:

Oh, killer content creators don't want punishments, they don't want it to be made harder, they just want buffs and to pretend that's going to change behavior at all. When it comes to issues they take with survivor behavior though, it's a completely different story. I just want to see some consistency. If you want to buff killers to influence killer behavior then you'd better accept buffing survivors to influence survivor behavior as an equally valid approach.

It's hilarious watching the usual YouTube suspects whine about this fairly toothless test patch and then suggest killers should be buffed to gently guide them to not tunnel. As if a buff alone isn't just going to make killers stronger and boost already acceptable kill rates.

You know the problem with all these statements is that everyone talks about killers in general. But there is no killers in general.

Nurse blight and ghoul dont care if survivors get more genspeed or faster healing cause 20 seconds vs a good nurse, blight, ghoul ur dead anyways. Those killers tunnel not cause they have to to stand a chance but cause they want to for efficiency or cause they dont care.

Then there is killers like trapper, pig or skull merchant. When ur done with a decent trapper setup ur most of the time at 2 gens. Pigs ambush power can be easily outplayed by just holding w and sm is the biggest joke of dbd. Those killers tunnel cause they have to, to even stand a chance cause they are so much weaker. And these killers could really use some anti tunnel buffs.

  • Nope sry wasnt me. Played my last match in may and am happily done with playing dbd since then

  • DBD has this unique property of giving you the feeling that you have to play again even though ur actually not having fun. In the long term that burns you out.

As long as you are stuck inside it , you feel miserable without even realizing it, once you are out, you are looking back at it and asking yourself why you stayed that long. It's like a bad relationship.

Honestly the best thing you can do imo is take a longer break and then come back with the necessary distance and mindset to enjoy DBD again. Cause let's be real the devs are notoriously slow so even if they would design something like a hardcore mode, it probably won't happen before 2027

  • This has been in the game for at least 1-2 years. Seems like there is some sort of map rotation going on that boosts certain maps and switches every few days. Many players just start to notice it now since map offerings are nerfed and not used as present anymore

  • @vol4r said:

But this should have been done the other way around.
She should be released somewhat okay and buffed so people don't get angry at the developers/game for her being broken.

People stop playing because those releases.

People would get angry either way tbh. If they release a killer that is just mediocre or even weak, killer players get just as mad as survicor players are about her broken status right now.

Also, just my opinion, but I would guess that most players buy the chapters cause of the killers and not the survivor. After all the survicor ist in the end just a skin with the same gameplay. So having the killer overtuned probably baits more people into buying the dlc than having a good survivor skin

To people leaving: DBD still has higher player numbers than it did during last years free weekend. Yes they are currently falling but did so every year around this time since its the time of the great fall releases. But generally over the years player numbers have constantly increased. So all the players that write in here saying they will quit for good are not very succesful

  • Lets be real: Noone buys a killer that gets absolutely destroyed and then tbed at the exit Gates. Thats why killers always release in a broken overpowered state and get nerfed as soon as enough people bought the chapter. She probably even more overtuned since fnaf brought a lot of new players who dont have 10k hours and struggle playing killer. So she also has to appeal to that group.

Just wait a couple of weeks and she will be nerfed to the ground

  • First of all it's not true that killers always get what they want. After all we already have anticamp and basekit borrowed which would never have made it into the game when killers always got their way.

Second the narrative that the doomposting killer players did here and on reddit etc. stopped BHV from pushing this through is just hilarious to me. If BHV would care about that this game would be in the same state it was in 2021.

everyone apparently forgets that there was a ptb which showed how hilariously abusable the changes were if survivors wanted to abuse them. People can't be hooked cause of flashlights squads and basekit tenacity, people following the killer for 30 seconds with no collision, abusing the gen debuff to chill their lives after 2 hooks and do gens in the killers face.

So would the changes have helped solo queue? Yes definitely. Would the game with the changes be balanced if everyone just played solo queue? Maybe even that. Can these changes get abused like crazy by survivor squads that want to abuse them? Definitely yes. Should you push it out and see streamersget obliterated by op bully squads with the new changes which turns people of from buying the game. No

  • Maybe just my opinion but seeing how this topic is discussed and how heated the discussions are they probably thing its best to reavaluate and try to hit the sweet spot with these changes instead of pushing it out and then majorly tweaking it afterwards.

Probably every time they change something about that system they would create a new shitstorm. Nerf the numbers: BHV is killer sided, only gave us the new system to now nerf it to the ground, sm treatment etc. Buff the numbers: BHV is survivor sided, everything except nurse is now unplayable, will never play killer again...

    I call BS on this.

Because, if tunneling was actually rare, then we should be able to implement the changes from the PTB as written, and have nearly zero impact for the downsides (again, because tunneling is rare).

And everyone gets a huge boost to other play styles because almost no one is tunneling.

Yet that's completely counter to the community meltdown that forced them to stop the ptb early and shut down the changes indefinitely.

So, either Scott is right and the community had a meltdown over nothing, or Scott is wrong and tunneling is way, way more common than his limited test shows. (Hint: it's the second one)

The problem is that these changes wouldn't just punish hard tunneling and were way too abusable creating loose loose situations for killer.

As an example: imagine game is at 2 gens and you hooked one survivor twice everyone else once and now that survivor that you hooked twice sits in front of you on a gen. What do you do? You have to get him of the gen but...

    • you cant just down him and leave him there cause of antislugg he will just pick himself up and do the gen anyway
    • You cant just let him sit there cause ur job is to protect gens and kill so you need to somehow get him off. You can ofc just chase someone else but that means that gen is definitely gone
    • You cant hook him cause then everyone gets omega speedboosted with repair speed and you also lose the ability to kick gens.

In this situation as a killer you lose not matter what you do even though you are not hard tunneling cause he is right there doing a gen in your face.

I personally agree that they need to change something to make survivor solo queue more bearable. But if you roll out changes that tip the balance too much in the other direction you will then have the problem that noone wants to play killer anymore and surv queues explode and the killers you get will mainly consist of blights, nurses and ghouls.

  • Im happy that they are implementing anti tunnel and anti slugg changes cause solo queue ist an unfun nightmare and has been for many months. Im a casual survivor player and not that great at looping and I have a lot of matches that are over in 3-4 minutes since killers realize that my looping skills are lackluster so Im tunneled directly of hook through decisive and otr which is just unfun.

But I also think that there is a sweetspot for these changes. The changes they wanted to implement for the PTB were just too much and easily abusable and in general seemed like they didn't really take a lot of things into consideration when designing them.

I really hope they take a good look at the system and then try again to implement something both sides can live with.

  • In 2021 the devs stated in a Dec Update that about half of the survivors play with the SWF Feature in 2 or 3 man teams and about 5% play in a full 4 team swf. Assuming these numbers haven't changed that much in the last 4 years, it would explain the balancing difficulties BHV faces. Make solo queue bearable while not absolutely making it abusable as hell for SWF.

Also surviving with friends is one of the biggest appeals dbd has. 0 chance that it will ever be removed

  • Easy. It's almost as if there is a current 2vs8 event going on where a lot of people want to play killer which screws up the queue times for normal mode as well.

So pointing at the killer queue times right now to argue that survs are leaving makes 0 sense.

Also dbd is still on a player high after fnaf release with above 100k players average. So I don't see survivors leaving unless y want to argue that everyone that recently joined only plays killer

  • "Survivors leaving the game in droves" Source: Trust me bro

  • Im presuming that the answer for many players will be that you simply can't make them work and have to switch to a stronger killer.

The update is super punishing for killers that were already struggling and made them even more underwhelming by forcing unnatural playstyles. U have area killers like trapper or hag that now have to go actively search the map for the survivor they haven't hooked so they get their buffs. Also the survivor that was recently hooked can now just trigger all your traps on purpose and if you kill him survivors get their gen buff cause u "tunneled".

Meanwhile good nurses or blights will absolutely not give a damn if they don't get their 5% haste buff after unhooking multiple people or if the gens don't regress anymore.

Pretty sure this update will make far more killers switch to one of the golden 4, which will then in turn lead to complaints that people only play against nurse, blight, wesker and ghoul.

  • It could be but from what we've seen in the past I highly doubt it. After all its already blatantly obvious which killers are considerably weaker than others and BHV hasnt really done anything in recent times to close the gap to S-tier killers. Unfortuanetely those are also the killers that will probably suffer the most in the new update. But since those old killers dont really make any money I dont think they will adress it but those killers will probably get the SM treatment. And even if they did, it would probably be 1 to 2 years until they come up with some weird new system to "buff" those killers.

IIRC, TCM devs were also bad at managing their community, but BHVR has at least made attempts to listen to the community even if they are stubborn. Like I remember it took backlash towards a dev saying OoO was fine, because it had a low escape rate for them to do something about the perk.

The problem BHVR devs has is they haven't learned anything over the years and it's constantly ignoring the community until it blows up that is becoming a regular issue.

But most of those attempts were made after they got backlash from the community. Then after a while it went back to the way it was before.

For like the last 3-4 years BHV always gave off the vibes of " we know better than you". We know better what should count as wins, we know better which perks are bugged and problematic, we know better which killer bugs need fixing and which dont, we know that you better pay us money for a killer that we then nerf into the ground and promise a rework in like 2 years, we know better how to treat our biggest and nicest content creator that tried everything in his power to save our stream but we know better how to fix it, we know better....

At least it helped me decide to take a very long break from DBD since the game is just a pool of negativity, cheaters, bugs and empty promises at this point.
