Good news guys by now I've finally reached the 40 wins without killing anyone in this game even though I used sweaty builds and tried my hardest. Before my break I was Iri 1 btw but apparently now I'm just a dumb noob that doesnt get the game anymore. Thanks DBD it was fun for the 2 weeks that u lasted on my hard drive. See u in 2023
-
Shouldnt there at least be something like a death switch? Like when the game realises that I really dont belong in this bracket and stand no chance no matter what I do that I get longer queue times but a bit more chill survivors? I honestly dont need to kill anybody to have fun in this game Im fine with all 4 getting out but being completely outclassed and getting pummeled and most of the time also treated incredibly toxicly after the games ist just sooo sooo unfun. And with it going on for such a long time without the MMR system apparently really working or saying well queue times for survs are more important than the killer having any fun in this game im honestly ready to uninstall again.
-
There are those and those honestly. There are the streamers that are fun to play against and tell u gg in endgame chat and even are happy when u make good plays and the match is fun and there are those that jump into a locker right in front of u and loudly scream streamsnipe when u pull them out and sent their hatesquad after u. But I can understand ur concern I've played Otz, Monto and Umbra while they were streaming and if u make a play that is considered toxic some ppl from their chats will always find u and come after u to tell u that u suck. If u wanna be sure honestly just dodge its what I do by now. Just choose to not deal with the trouble it brings
-
In my opinion u played this absolutely right. The survivors made mistakes like the feng thinking ur deaf and dropping in behind u and the other person healing in range. If they make mistakes u can ofc use that against them. Also as much as most survivors might disagree with it but making these dumb plays and getting punished for it is the only way u learn not to make those plays. But yeah its basically one of the biggest problems of DBD rn.Many survivors expecting their games to be easy and immidiately pointing to the imaginary survivor rule book once they encounter the slightest bit of resistance.
But yeah don't worry u did nothing wrong. As long as u didnt go in with the intention that ur gonna facecamp or tunnel someone I wouldnt even sweat it. Just put it under entitled survivor and get used to it. Will happen lots more times
-
Yeah played 7 more games got 5 more hatch escapes. So super fun honestly. Thks BHV for making this experience possible for me

BHVR need to review the requirement for adept for killers.. its so much more rediculously easy as a survivor to achieve, on my PS4 version I had it for every killer bar nurse, yet having to redo them all on PS5 now the goals for Adept on killers has been moved, its so much more diffiicult to achieve especially with the examples above, you can only do so much..
I mean I really hope they do. They are so much harder to get honestly. U need the survivors to play the games out till the end and not start killing themselves on first or second hook which happens like 80% of the time. And if they do u still need to create enough pressure that no gens get done and noone can escape via key through the hatch. When u create too much pressure though u go back to ppl killing themselves on hook. Adept shouldnt depend this much on the playstyle of the survivors but rather ur own honestly
-
Today the same story. Tried once again to get the achievement. In 13 games I had 9 games where at least 2 ppl escaped via hatch and key, Like holy ######### this honestly is such bs I dont even have words for it. Doing adepts is hard enough with genspeeds of this world and no gen regression on Executioner i don't need ppl to leave after 4 gens each game.

Jup, chests are bugged currently. I got 2 red keys in 3 trials in a row. I understand it's annoying but it is not the end of the world.
Normally i wouldnt care too much yeah :/ but while doing adept its just super annoying. U either get this or ppl killing themselves on first hook so its just so super hard right now to get this done
-
I think it depends honestly. If u tunnel on purpose and have other oppurtunities to chase ppl I will agree with u that thats unfun and really not the way u should play as killer. Like u should rotate between survivors if possible.
It depends on the team if I tunnel or not. What u get a lot at higher ranks is ppl unhooking and then just going back to playing immersed by daylight while the unhooked survivor sits under the hook and self cares or does ur hex or pushes a gen cause hes basically going "im protected by my DS and the survivor rulebook; if u down me ur a dirty tunneler" And honestly the game is not in a state that I will give up a chase just to search my ass off for another survivor I can chase. At high rank games against good teams going for 60 seconds without a chase or hook or building pressure by downing someone be it tunneling or not basically means defeat as killer immidiately
So it really depends for me on how the surv team plays .
-
Yeah or like a single player mode with bots like theres on mobile I think. That would be awsome. I would really love to play killers other than my mains so I can improve but as mentioned above its just a supertoxic und unfun rollercoaster each time
-
Well DBD really is a pain to play atm for both sides.
There are so many bugs and the state the hitbox or rather the delay is in even makes it worse. As a killer u get so much ######### from survivors post game how you are apparently abusing hitboxes.
And I mean the devs approach of "we will just push the PTB out in the state it is no matter what ppl say, they'll get used to it" backfired hard this time. Everyone told them its a mess and they wanted it out anyways. But honestly I dont see what hating on them helps at this point.
They hopefully know they really hit the fan this time and need to make changes and fast or they will lose a huge chunk of their playerbase. A lot of killers already quit before this and if this keeps up for like a few weeks DBD might really get into trouble. MIght also be a chance for them to finally listen to the community for once and make some long overdue changes instead of pretending that DBD is in like the best state ever and nothing is wrong. But just going full "devs are #########" at this point really doesnt help imo.
But guess we'll see what happens in the next weeks

So which is it, several gens or 1-2? Saying that keys are op is completely overstated. If 3 people are escaping via hatch then it means four gens were already done. Odds are you were going to lose anyways. If two people escape it means 3 were done and 2 people dead. That still falls short of “several”. The only way you can bypass several gens is by killing all except one and by then a key is unnecessary except reopening the hatch after the fact.
Well tbf for me at least a lot of games get decided during the last 2 gens or even in endgame collapse. Also the game is balanced around you getting 2 kills as a killer as the devs once stated and that is pretty much still possible if there is one gen left. Or maybe the survs 3 gen'd themselves which would make it so much easier to get the last gen. Or the killer runs blood warden. Like I dont think the games is automatically decided just cause u get to that point in the game. Also if u play by the survivor rules which means no tunnel or camp and hook everyone twice so u dont get hell in endgame chat almost every game will get to that point.

Ideally, it should take the survivor awhile to open the hatch — This is to give the killer time to reach the hatch and prevent the escape regardless where they are at! 😊
Just to answer some future comments... 😋
Q: What's the point in opening the hatch if the killer always have enough time to prevent the escape? This is where you need to be clever and use the key tactically! Use it to make the killer stop whatever they are doing and focus on you, this will allow your teammates to focus on generators or recover from the killer's momentum!
As a side note: I would prefer if the HUD warns the killer about someone unlocking the hatch — Just so we're sticking to the theme of "Whoever finds it first, wins".Yeah it taking time and warning the killer with a sound cue is a good idea but imagine for example theres a 3 man swf and 2 gens are left to be done. One of those has a key and just sits on hatch and starts unlocking it. So the killer gets the cue and runs there. Meanwhile the other 2 swf members push the remaining gens. When the killer gets to the hatch the dude ofc already left since he just wanted to create the sound cue. So now the killer has to run back and pressure gens again. Like what would survivors stop from just repeating this process over and over again? Thats like the one problem I see with this. Thats why I suggested that keys should break after a certain amount of attempts to prevent this from happening. Otherwise I think its a great way to make keys more balanced
-
@NMCKE said:
Just offering my opinion on keys! 😅
They are definitely the most powerful survivor item in the game, it can be argued that it's singlehandedly the strongest item in the game! The ability to escape without needing to complete some of your objective is huge because the game is balanced around survivors needing to finish their objective, not some of it! 😊
Therefore, I would say absolutely not, keys are definitely OP and should be looked at (which they are from what I've heard)! However, I'd like the developers to buff the aura reading aspect of keys because well, it's very underused from experience and observations! 😅
I'd suggest keys don't instantly open the hatch, but will instead take time! To add on, the killer gets some kind of warning when someone is attempting to open the hatch just to add some counterplay! Of course, I'd like to see the aura reading aspect of keys get a huge buff, such as more add-ons and built-in aura reading abilities! 😋
I think thats actually a very good idea. Like the only think I would change is that u can only use the purple key once to try and open the hatch and after that its just gone and the iridescent one maybe 2 times. Otherwise I can imagine a scenario where one survivor would just constantly use the key to create pressure at hatch while his teammates do the gens.
-
I feel like lore and gameplay wise it would be huntress, plague and gorgon. Huntress is a lot of fun and very satisfying when u hit those far away shots. Also she has a great lore. Plague is just overall my favourite. I like her design, how she is slowly succumbing to the disease and part of her is rotting away but she still has that ancient priestress vibe. Even though it didn't make sense that the entity would summon her since she never did anything evil in her backstory. I also like her gameplay cause u have to react to the playstyle of the survivors. Ur entire style of gameplay can chance depending on if survivors are cleansing or if they rather stay injured. Gives her a kind of strategic component. And demo is just demo :D thats all you have to say.
-
I mean I would be fine with making it basekit if u somehow manage to just keep it anti tunnel. I honestly don't feel the need for running it atm tbh cause most killers in higher ranks don't even tunnel. And most survivors I see are using it in a non intented way. Like pushing a gen through and then just hop into a locker if a killer gets close. Or suicide unhook during endgame collapse to either unbreakable or tenacity towards the exit gate.
I think doing certain actions should deactivate it so it doesnt get abused that much but then I would be happy if they made it a basekit thing.
-
Well tbf back in the day when there way no dc penalty you honestly couldn't play a normal game in DBD. Play a killer the survivors didnt like? Instant dc. Killer gets mindgamed? instant dc. Like it was really annoying. At least with dc penaltys its gotten a little better in my opinion. A lot of ppl especially in lower ranks still dc but in higher ranks they've gotten pretty rare for me at least
-
I think DBD is in a pretty good place atm balance wise tbh.
The problem I see and what survivors cry a lot about even on high ranks is the "survivor rule book". Like for me if I play how I want to as killer without giving a damn about the survivor rulebook I win some and I lose some. Most of the complaints I get are just survivor groups that are like "I got tunneled or I got camped" . I think the game especially in higher ranks is in no state anymore where those rules should be a thing. U are scared of getting tunneled? run ds unbreakable; scared of being camped? run borrowed. Like when I play killer and find someone that plays stupid or makes a mistake he goes down. Doesn't matter if he's the last one that got unhooked. Or blocking someones path to the unhook is also camping for most survivors. Those are the only complaints I get as a killer tbh
I also think playing survivor is fine and I don't get a lot of killer complaints. Sometimes I can understand them though. I get some killers that complain about bodyblocking with borrowed or ds abuses which I can see why thats a problem. Like Borrowed was meant as an anti tunnel perk so why bodyblock for someone when the killer doesnt wanna tunnel you. I had a lot of games where someone blocked with borrowed and got hooked after that again just to go on a rant about how ######### tunneling is which leads back to the survivor rule book.
Honestly I dont think the perks are the real problem just how they are used and how people view the game. Both sides find ways to use those perks in a way the devs didnt think or didn't wanna think about which the other side finds annoying and complains aboiut sometimes. And the survivor rule book with "hook every survivor once or dont camp, stay at least 50 feet away from any hooked survivor; make sure the way to the hook is free" is so engraved in ppls minds; even though I think its way out of date; is the thing that leads to the most crying in DBD.
-
Well how would you guys balance it.?
I mean I get the point that some matches are just unwinable for survivors so there needs to be a backup strat. Especially when you are actually playing well and get dragged down by ur team it just doesnt feel right. I would even understand people that argue that because of the decent popularity of blood warden and noed in recent times keys are needed cause otherwise u just lost even though you made it to endgame.
But the way they are now I feel like they are highly abusable and also get abused a lot. Especially in higher ranks theres a key and a hatch offering almost every match.
-
Ooooof, I mean I feel kind of stupid for not getting the slugging idea myself :D. Ur right thats probably the best thing I can do. Thanks
Yeah I tried picking them up and hooking them again but it didnt fix it. Also at least the one group was openly admitting that it was a lagbox they were using so I guess it wasnt the bug.
Well thanks again even though I feel pretty stupid now. But now I know what I can do next time this happens
-
Guess it depends on what u actually think the game should be like.
If you think the game should enable you to go head to head with the killer as long as you're just good enough to do so and loop the killer for like 4 minutes before u go down then she's probably bad for the game yeah.
If you think the actual purpose of the game is to be much weaker than the killer, be pressured the whole game, actually play well and work as the team to at least enable 2-3 survivors to get out then she's in the absolutely right position imo.
I understand that a good nurse will destroy most survivor teams but as was already said she requires so much practice and game sense that I'm fine with that.
The same can be said for a good survivor with 5k hours that knows the maps really well, knows all the distances between vaults and has a lot of game sense. You will waste like 7 minutes to just catch them and their impact on the game is immense. But they have earned it by learning these things too. So personally I don't think she's bad for DBD at all
-
Huntress with ruin, undying, corrupt and BBQ I guess. For normal m1 killer I would actually think pig with ruin, spirit fury, enduring and save the best for last. Most survivors nowadays rely on pallets way too much and don't know how to loop successfully but just camp pallets. That combined with pigs natural slow down via traps works really well for me.

Please. With all due respect, DS has been "bullsh" for almost 4 years now ever since the Halloween chapter came out in 2016. Can you believe that? A perk created almost 4 years ago has been receiving complaints for its entire four years of EXISTENCE. And instead of changing what has been a problem for 4 years, people insist on fixing the "problem" created YESTERDAY?? That's insane.
DS is problematic far beyond "getting hit by ds at key moments" and boiling it down to such an oversimplification is a massive understatement to the problems it creates even in 2020. To put it quite simply it is no longer used as an anti-tunneling perk like the rework originally intended, it is instead used as a "get out of jail free card" to facilitate extremely aggressive or extremely sloppy and stupid plays, to the point of practically serving as an "extra hook state" as @Valor188917 put it.
Saying DS is "bullsh" is putting it mildly, DS was "bullsh" before, but as time goes on and survivors become more innovative and find new inventive ways to abuse mechanics and perks in ways that weren't intended, DS has become an utter plague. Survivors have learned how to effectively maximize the output of Decisive and milk the perk for everything it's goddamn worth during a trial, and the killer previously could do absolutely nothing about it. and for 19 out 20 playable killers, they STILL can't do anything about it. Just because it's less effective on PH doesn't mean squat for everybody who: doesn't like PH or his playstyle, prefers to play other killers / their own mains, doesn't own the DLC or even just the character at all in the first place, etc.
At the same time, the counter PH has isn't even complete "bullsh" like how you described, since you must be tormented in order for PH to be able to use the ability, and Rites of Judgement can be countered and avoided whether by simply walking around or crouching through (Urban Evasion much??). Unlike killers and DS, survivors can in most cases avoid being tormented and stuck in the cage of atonement.
On top of that, perks like DS (and BT) were never meant to be 100% foolproof in the first place you're never guaranteed to escape a chase or the match just because you chose to run DS and if that were true, then DS would be even more problematic and unbalanced than it already is.
So no, I don't believe it's "countering bullsh. with bullsh." far from it. It's a mechanic that is entirely warranted, and entirely deserved. And for everybody else don't think that for a minute this lets DS off the hook for its eventual nerf because it still needs one, again, for 19 out of 20 killers it is still business casual for survivors who get to abuse this perk.
I mean I agree with you on the DS part. I'm a rank 1 killer Main and only play survivor for the archives rn and I will switch back to killer once I did all the archives stuff. So I'd rather see DS getting reworked earlier than later and I'm fine with PH staying this way honestly. Like the stronger he is the better.
I'm just saying that I noticed during the time I played survivor in like the mid ranks now (mostly rank 6-16 teammates) I've seen a lot of ppl go back to queue with 1k points max since they got tunneled to absolute oblivion by PH right from the start. Like I imagine in higher ranks where people actually think about how to beat it and have better teamplay even as randoms it becomes far less of a problem. And I mean I got cursed like 3 times in 14 games against him and use urban so yeah if u know what ur doing its not that hard to counter. But in these ranks ppl will get cursed and be it just cause u get a random rank 16 survivor who doesnt understand what he does and how to counter it. And most of these ppl dont even know how to abuse DS I would argue.
And I mean what Valor said yeah he completes 25% of the objective fast and efficiently. But behind that objective also is another player that queued for the game who knows how long and then in worst case gets in once chase and can see himself die in a cage for 4 minutes now cause he got cursed. Like maybe my mindset doesnt match up with DBD but shouldnt everyone be able to gather points and try to have fun rather than just to somehow destroy the other party?
Like I said I dont care if they leave him this way, I'll probs be happier if they do. But out of 14 games I played against him I had like 10 where i looked at the scoreboard and one or two survivors stayed below 2k points. Might not be a huge problem in red ranks I dunno since im not playing there but in mid ranks as solo queue it feels like an absolute disaster. And I mean maybe ppl in those ranks will figure out how to play against him eventually but rn in mid ranks it just feels impossible to escape if the killer uses that tactic since noone can or wants to counterplay it.

I'm not going to read through all the comments up to page 3, but just off the first page all of these are incredibly true and valid points.
BT is powerful, but DS is absolutely broken and borderline unhealthy for the game, the fact that when these two perks finally receive a legitimate counter people get up in arms is extremely telling. Reminds me a lot of how many killers were up in arms over the Hex: Ruin nerf, people don't like it, but it needed / needs to happen.
I mean its a difference between counter and abusing. Like as a killer main i know how frustrating it is to get Hit by ds At key Moments or survs sitting in lockers etc. But countering that by going "ha u can't use ds so now i will kill u off in the First 3 Minutes of the game without u being able to get some points for repair or heal or anything can't be the answer imo. Its countering bullsh. with bullsh. Just makes everything worse.

Reee i cant have all my second chance crutch perks please nerf
Haha thats a very grown up Argument. Honestly im Rank 1 killer and only Play surv for archives so id rather see DS and borrowed removed earlier than later. But apparently most killer mains like you seem to forget that survivors want to have fun too. And queuing 10 Minutes to see urself die in a cage for 4 Minutes and then going back to queuing for 10 Minutes withput bring able to do anything about it doesnt seem that fun. Like remove ds and borrowed pls but also dont make him see the cage. Its just as stupid
-
I mean I really dont like the way survivors abuse ds and borrowed most of the time. But ive seen so many survivors die with like 1k points since they either never got out of the cage or got downed immidiately after they got out. Like all this follow the survivor rulebook bs is one thing but a survivor who wants to play and have fun and queues like 10 Minutes just to See himself die in a cage for 4 Minutes and then goes back to queuing 10 Minutes while having earned 1000 points for the chase isn't okay either imo. And a Lot of ph especially in mid ranks play like this. Like just dont make him See the cage so ppl can get there before him. I honestly dont see the Problem with that
-
@Huntar said:
You'll need to either learn when to give up on another survivor, or how to disrupt a killer's focus. If they're camping, just work gens. If they're actually still patrolling, then distract them and trust someone else to go for the save. If you can't do that, then the killer is winning.
Yeah but I mean its not about winning tbh. Like I had 2 games rn again where 2 survivors stayed below 2k points just because PH caged them and then basically drew a trench fortress around the cage. Like u need to crouch there since he would come back immidiately if he sees u getting cursed and then downs the caged person again. Or u just give up on them and try to rush gens with three ppl which is really hard with randoms to do tbh. But that u have no way to counter that in any way and that apparently a lot of ppl play him like that is just annoying. Like if at least one survivor dies with 2k points each game something is wrong. And I know the devs had good intentions with that power but if u want it its just so highly abusable tbh.
-
@PureHostility said:
You are acting as if cages are really good for PH in all situations.
I barely ever use them, as it benefits survivors more than me, as more than often they get rescued few seconds after I place them inside, then they are healed back to full and often 2 survivors are now without torment on them.
Cages are only useful if:
Possible DS and you can't be bothered to wait it out,
Downed someone, but you see someone nearby, Slugging 2.0
Mini mori for 3rd hook to save yourself some time.
Otherwise, just hook them, also you have to rely on them to actually become tormented, which is EXTREMELY DAMN EASY to avoid!
Yeah i get what ur saying and I mean I guess for organised or decently good survivors that know how to counterplay the cage it isnt much of a problem. And it also always depends on ur playstyle as killer. Im saying what I've noticed with a lot of killers in like the mid rank section where i play survivor is that they cage someone and immidiately start running towards the cage. Then they just stay close to it and wait till someone unhooks to go right after them again. And when u solo queue almost certainly someone will unhook. In my 8 games against PH yesterday I've had like 5 games where the killer just did that and it worked mostly do to the ranking system mixing like a rank 15-20 in there who had not even remotely a clue what was going on and how to counter it and just wanted to help and randoms not having the organisation to pull of a good counterplay. And I mean a safe way to counterplay that is by just doing the gens that are furthest away from the cage just as u would counter facecamping but with facecamping u had the remote chance to be able to rescue someone via borrowed or them having DS. Here u dont have that.
As to the Extremely Damn Easy to avoid stuff. It is not super hard to avoid even though I wouldnt call it extremely easy. For one its the typical huntress hitbox thing, where u can clearly run by a trench to the right or to the left and still get cursed since the hitbox went further than the graphics for the trench. I had that happen a few times where I was like "I clearly didnt run through that so why am I cursed". And honestly sometimes u just cant avoid it. if u vault a window in a chase and he just put a little puddle behind it and u see it too late it already happened.Or when he put a little puddle in tall grass on autohaven same story. Its really hard to see and if u get close to it ur done. Its the same like the Bear Traps. If they are bright on an open field its np, but if u hide them in the right places they get u. And also on some maps u just can't avoid it. Like on Hawkings one dude just made like 4 trences from entirely left to right in a corridor where almost no door was open. So u come around the corner and basically have the choice to crouch though those trenches and get downed, or try to escape and get cursed and when ur caught ur screwed. So in my opinion its not that super easy to avoid in all circumstances.
And I mean theres probably a lot of killers that play him rn that dont play like that. Like I also wouldn't play him like that when I start playing him in the next few days. But there also seems to be a lot of killers that discovered that this playstyle is working well if u want it especially against non red rank or experienced survivors. And that u dont have any tools to stop it if the killer really wants to play like that is my more my problem than the cage itself.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/161663/cage-of-atonement
I think PH is the answer to all the borrow time and desicive strike user just like doctor was the answer to loop when he got out. For the survivor i understand having an ability to counter DS can be bad for them but this was needed for the killer i think now survivor will need to be more carefull when they get unhook against a PH and stop playing like they are immortel for a whole minute try to heal so they dont get ######### survivor will need to adapt to this new reallity
I mean I'm not the biggest fan of DS and borrowed time myself and rather have them reworked so they arent as broken as they are now. And I know the frustration when survivors jump into lockers or repair gens with ds even though u just hooked someone else and are not tunneling or u get bodyblocked with borrowed since I mainly play rank 1 killer. But the way the cage works can't honestly be the answer either. And I mean when u say that "survivors simply need to be more careful when unhooking" what do u do when they aren't and ur the one that gets hooked? Like I've seen survivors that went home with 1k points against PH and could do nothing about it cause someone in the team just saw them as a farming tool and got them out of the cage as soon as they could even though the killer was coming. Then the unhooked dude had to sprint through a trench that PH drew before that, got cursed again, sent to the cage again and the same thing repeated and he was dead. The dude went from not hooked at all to killed of in like 2 minutes and could do nothing to stop it. Like as an SWF this would be fine since they can get better timings with their unhooks but if you're relying on randoms in solo queue this gets problematic. And in the worst case scenario just imagine u queue like 5 minutes as a survivor, find a game, get deleted by a PH that plays like that, get like 2k points and go back to queuing for 5 minutes again. How often would u do that before u get frustrated and say screw that? I mean I honestly just played survivor for the archives so Idc that much but in the games I had till now almost every PH did that and it just seems highly abusable and unfair to the person its done to.
