The reason a lot of folks are getting riled up is because we all assumed it would be an immediate reveal and not a long wait. While I am okay with waiting - a heads up on how long would have been nice. To consider the amount of time it will take.

I am sure many people like myself work on the Weekends. Specifically, for me, I work a double 12-hour shift.

Yes! This is the craziest part to me. I feel like if their plan is to do a multi-HOUR long stream then they would let us no when the main stuff is happening. But no! Radio. Silence.

Like why are they not talking to us at all. Like when is this supposed to end?

  • I think if they listed every known bug at the moment the list would be longer than the actual patch notes lol
    …
    …
    sigh

  • To also add, I mainly play survivor, so I am lesser experienced on a few killers, but it doesn't change that the pressure to have to run good perks makes the game more stressful and less fun if you are playing killer without them…

Maybe look at the Perks in actual gameplay and not in Youtube-Shorts? They are giga-bad and if someone says otherwise, never take their opinion serious anymore.

A friend and I tested it out ourselves in the PTB, it seemed a tad too strong but if you say so then Ill have to see myself when the chapter releases. (p.s. I dont watch dbd youtube shorts lol)

  • No changes to the new Teamwork perks? With the 5% repair bonus just you and 1 friend can complete a gen in ~22 seconds if you build around it.
Is there to be an expected nerf?

    They're all attributed to "Notebook"?

That's certainly a commonality in their lore text, but I'm not sure if it's exclusive to them.

This is correct! Good job on finding the answer but unfortunately the user Pulsar got the answer correct first! Thank you for playing though!

  • Correct!!! These perks are the only perks in the entire game to have their lore text come from a Notebook! Congratulations to Pulsar! They get ALL THE MARBLES!!!

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4006567#Comment_4006567

Is it that the text is the only flavor text written in first-person?

Close but not it! Remember that these are the only 4 perks in the entire game so far to have this trait in their lore text!

  • @Pulsar said:

Is it that the Killer cannot activate these perks and that they are entirely dependent on the Survivors doing something first?

Not quite! The first hint has now been given so I'd recommend trying again!

  • @tech said:

HHmmmmm, Is it that survivors must do an action to activate them?

Like shattered hope is activated by a boon?

Tinkerer is activated by them working on a gen?

Predator when the survivor looses chase?

Whispers when the survivors are within a certain radius?

Yet again, great answer but not quite right!

I'll give the first hint! (and its a pretty good one):
The answer to this trivia question is related to these perks' lore text!

  • @ARIOSODEV said:

Hmm… I have a feeling it is something to do with the fact that they all reveal Survivors in some form. This is quite a difficult question!

My guess would be that these perks all can reveal the locations of Survivors directly from the Survivors' influence?

Predator activates when you lose a chase, which is something that can genuinely happen when you don't mean to, like if they successfully stealth while out of sight. Shattered Hope needs a Boon to exist in the first place, and those can't exist without Survivor input. Tinkerer is the same, it needs a Generator to be progressed, and that can only happen if a Survivor repairs it. And finally, Whispers activates whenever a Survivor is nearby, which requires a Survivor to be near you in the first place.

Then again, you could say the same for Discordance… But I have no other ideas.

I really like your answer but this is incorrect! Keep trying I'm sure you'll get it!

  • Even once all the information is released, its still unwise to make conclusions on it until we can experience it ourselves

I guess it comes down to if new players are happy to pay to win. If your happy to P2W then you will just buy chapters and sink 1 mill bp into those characters to unlock the perks. If your not you will sit and grind out irry shards for shrine of secrets.

A game being known for being pay to win is never a good thing…

I understand that this is the way DBD is, but if I were to be just introduced to the game and found out how P2W the game is I might not have been so inclined to get invested as I did. But thats just speculation…

Well, if all perks were available at all times, I think there would be issues with license holders.

Perks do also bear imagery and references to licensed content as well, and BHVR will have had to make a deal with licenses to allow them to distribute that content for free with the existing terms of the shrine.

With that in mind, even my suggestion likely wouldn't be doable unless BHVR ensure they only list a licensed perk in the shrine a maximum of once a week (like they do now).

Not that I exactly know that there is a deal in place... but I wpuld feel safe guessing that there is.

That is fair. I can understand that being an issue. I don't know how the license agreements work myself so I can just only hope that it wouldn't be an issue.

  • @UndeddJester said:

I don't think that could ever work... however I do think the shrine should definitely be bumped to at least 4 perks either side.

I personally would make it 6 perks a side, where 2 new perks are added every 3 days, and the 2 oldest perks rotate out.

I'd also consider a "lock in" mechanic where a player can lock 1 perk in the rotation at a time, so if they see a perk they want, that they can't afford, they can lock it and still be able to save up and purchase.

    Why not? Please explain.

Though I do see how your idea would definitely be better than what currently exists…

I do agree that many play the game continuously just to complete the grind, but, idk it may just be me, but I keep playing the game cus its fun?

And yes, some characters have gotten pretty cheap, but think of it from a brand new players perspective. Even if every single non-licensed character were to be 125 auric cells, with all licensed still being 500, it would be 23,000 auric cells, which is still quite an amount considering that buying DBD itself still costs money.

So like why not? I literally see no downsides to it…

    and

but I have many friends who lost interest in DBD due to the grind

The grind is the point. It doesn't work on/appeal to everyone, but it does for a lot of people. The Shrine also has enforced scarcity (get it now!) is meant to keep people invested / coming back so they don't miss anything.

It's an element of live service / games that has become more common over the last few decades in gaming. DbD is going into its 10th year so I highly doubt they see the model as anything but incredibly successful.

I understand that the model DBD has is successful, hell, I love the game.

But would making the grind easier really be harmful? I highly doubt it.

I would rather have it be easier. The game's grind may not appeal to all but then surely making the grind easier will make it more appealing?

  • @CompetitifDBD said:

They need to rework how the shrine works. I think its fine to get licensed perks if you dedicate and work for the perks. Maybe you can do special challenges and in game achievements linked to a chapter's release, then once you complete that you can purchase perks from that chapter with shards.

I do agree. I think your idea is a good one! I personally prefer the more accessible option, but making players work for them is great, as long as it doesn't get too grindy, which is the main issue to begin with…

  • @gerolau said:

the people in the thread already put it nicely but like think about it. considering how they feel to play, would nearly as many dbd players buy michael, bubba, ghostface, sadako, demo, or any other powercrept/not super strong killer if they could just buy PWYF, BBQ, IAE, all of sadakos perks, and surge after grinding some time? even straying from the "bhvr want muney" standpoint, this would lead to even less perk diversity than we already have and more people hopping onto the game for the first time with a full set of meta perks on kaneki (or whatever equivalent annoying killer you desire). where you see people having the ability to get what they want i see people having the ability to get DMS pain res lethal and BBQ whenever they want, and if they can do that why buy anything else but the best perks

Every killer you mentioned in the first part this is a killer I enjoy playing. Sure, players would no longer be forced to buy a killer they don't like just for their perks, but why should they have to?

If players could buy the best perks from the get go, then yes, there would maybe be less perk diversity, but, it would also massively help new players be able to compete in higher mmr brackets. You straight up do not see high mmr killers/survivors who haven't spent real money on DBD and that's a little sad to me.

And also, if a player could buy the strongest perks straight away, it could also mean that they could buy they funnest perks right away! If a player wants diversion for the funniness, needing Adam wouldn't stop them!

Say a popular content creator releases a video including a rarer-seen perk in their build, if anyone could get it whenever they want, then that perk's usage would go up greatly! Which would actually increase perk diversity!

Again, I can only see it as a good thing.

  • @Jay_K said:

Simple answer is money. If you can get every perk at any time thru the shrine then what's the point t of buying all the chapters. If your a survivor main you will only buy the survivors you like and never a killer and vica versa. Honestly if every perk was avaliable then I wouldn't own half the chapters I do

These are true, yes, but having such an improvement to DBD's extremely lengthy grind would greatly improve newer players incentive to play the game more and get whichever perks they want.

If a player is incentivized to play more, wouldn't it also be rational to think that they could end up having more investment into the game in general (either in characters, or skins, or getting others to start playing as well)

As things are right now, it takes 35 Hours of straight gameplay to grind enough shards for 1 character…

  • Context: I already have every character and perk unlocked, but I have many friends who lost interest in DBD due to the grind and I feel like having shrine have all perks would make it a better experience. However, I have had my ideas shot down by other already experienced people because usually the mindset of "I had to grind so they should too."

we are not crabs in a bucket…

  • Reading this I kinda had an idea for how it could be changed and be better

    * this idea literally just came to me so it may be flawed *

When opening a chest, you get an option to instead get Pallet Parts instead of an item.

The rarity of the item you would normally get would determine how many pallet parts you get.

    Maybe: brown/green = 1 fragile pallet, blue/purple = 2 fragile pallets, iridescent = 1 real pallet.

The pallet parts would go away when you make a pallet(s).

I think that would be much better, but not op idk

  • From my understanding, you need to activate the perk by being in the terror radius and not being chased for 90 seconds, after that it activates and can be used at any point.

The main thing is that the stun radius isn't on the vault or where you start, but the stun radius is actually from where you end the vault, or wherever you land after vaulting. This means it is possible to vault off of a ledge and fall onto the killer to stun them.

  • image.png

I love how mine is very bell-curve-like!

  • I think I see where your idea is, and I like the main part of it.

With how you said it though, it doesn't seem like the reward part of the risk/reward is strong enough to incentivize players to go for it. Although I could be wrong, as you didn't exactly specify what effects may be given to the player.

Neat idea though, obviously just needs some more fleshing out!

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/447048/i-actually-quite-enjoyed-the-newest-blood-moon-event

I do agree with you, it encouraged build variety and different strategies and it was fun for survivor, although very map dependant.

However i feel like the incompatibility with killer powers and perks is just unintuitive and inconsiderate design. Its the first event where you can't casually jump in and things work like you expect. And you can't adapt to some things like plague not infecting blood generators. You simply just have less power.

For that reason i don't think it was good, but it was interesting.

Yes it was definitely a struggle to have some killers not have their powers affect blood generators.

If I were to have the event done over, I'd have it so that blood generators are treated as generators only for killer powers, but not perks (and then maybe make them take a bit longer to fill).

I think that finding the best out of any perk and killer is the best feeling in the game. When you use something people don’t see often and win the game it is 1000x better than meta perks.

something else I enjoy is using killer powers in ways people aren’t used too. It’s hard to counter something you see once in a blue moon

Some of my personal favorite things to do are

Distressing + Doctor: I believe it’s a free 20% bigger static blast due to it increasing his terror radius. I’m not 100% sure about it however.

Unknown + stealth perks: Unknown is already not very popular but when you make him a stealth killer that can teleport instantly you make him the perfect jumpscare killer. I like using Trail of Torment and Hex: Plaything.

Vecna + anything really: Vecna isn’t popular but his kit offers so much that you can do so many builds and have them work. 4 unique powers that work good enough (I’d say a few number changes would help him but that’s just me) he is one of the most versatile killers in the game.

Singularity + Chase: Singularity has inbuilt surveillance so aura reading isn’t needed all that much so when you turn him into a chase beast he becomes deadly. Overdrive makes you insane to begin with so adding on a few pallet and window perks doesn’t hurt

Aura reading Nemesis + brutal strength: this might not be to rare but I enjoy it enough to mention it. It’s feels like a lore accurate version of him. You see someone’s aura and b-line it to them and then you can break through obstacles like it’s made of paper.

what about you guys? What are your favorite play styles, perks, or killers that don’t get enough love

I'm a huge fan of Vault Speed Xenomorph builds. With one of Xeno's addons you can get crazy fast vault speeds if you make a build for it and its extremely fun sometimes.

  • COUNTERPOINT: I was happy with this event*!!

*only because of the bp gains its been nice prestiging killers more

I honestly really wish the bp gains could stay longer, I understand most want to wait until bulk bp spending is here but it'd still be really nice to stock up for the players who don't have everything on everyone yet.

    I don't see the problem.

The Iridescent Emblems are supposed to be awarded only for exemplary play. Escaping alive without once going down the entire trial falls in that category in my books.

Heck, just escaping at all already guarantees a Gold Emblem. Why are we trying to lower the standards for the highest tier?

Getting an Iridescent Emblem is supposed to be an uncommon event, and getting all four at once is supposed to be a monumental achievement.

    I definitely disagree.

If iridescent emblems are supposed to be awarded only for exemplary play, then I don't think you could get light-bringer from just m1 on gen for the majority of the match.

I understand it should be a challenge to get the iridescent emblems, and especially all 4 at once, but getting trying to make sure you're never downed once is so extremely luck or stealth dependent that it really should be looked at for a change.

When people come to the forums to talk DBD there's a lot we love about the game but there's a lot that bothers a lot of people so they just resonate with more negative post typically. You'll see a lot of post especially if you hang around general or balancing sections as while people try to have civil discussions in a positive way a lot of discussion is over inherently negative issues where everyone has their own views so there's going to be a lot of disagreements and debate.

If you want more positive stuff off topic has a decent amount of that. I don't really see DBD threads being made for positivity outside of for the sake of "needing a positive thread" being useful because usually OP's will just make them and not commit to keeping the thread alive.

Granted your image is really vague. I feel feedback about something negatively impacting the game is fine. It's where users are at each others throats because they can't come to terms that you won't agree with everyone where negativity really comes from or in some cases referring to devs as rude things because they didn't get it right the first time.

I agree there's a lot of love and I love to see it. It is certainly nice to see discussion about why we all play this game, it does slightly sadden me to see all of the negativity, hence why I made the post, but the picture itself is intentionally vague, as it's more of an exaggerated observation rather than a formulated opinion statement.

    Appreciate the ideas.

Could you give me an example of even one scenario where them not seeing the sound bubble would be a bad thing for them if the teammate aura part of Blindness was removed? That just doesn't sound like a negative for them in any way I can think of.

What's an example of their aura perks straight up deactivating rather than being hidden that would be a buff? I can't think of any way that's an improvement.

The first part would be that you can't see where the teammate was hooked, but granted you'd have to be able to not see their aura for that so I suppose nevermind.

And for the other one, idk like if Alert never triggers then you wouldn't know that the killer damaged anything (there's definitely a better example than Alert it's just the first that came to mind)

Weaker vs swf, yeah, but does nothing? Definitely not, still a strong effect even against them. How would you buff Blindness to compensate for that heavy of a nerf?

quick thoughts could be that with Blindness you could no longer see notifications (e.g. the circle that appears when a teammate is hooked) or that any aura reading perks are just straight up deactivated, so that you won't know that the trigger happened?

As a survivor he is too map depended. You got a lot of line of sight breakers, then you get hit by a knive, run a little bit, get hit again, run, get hit again …. there is no skill expression against him. you simply just run from line of sight breaker to line of sight breaker.
If there is little to no line of sight breaker on the map, you don't have a lot of counter play except of prerunning.

As the killer he feels so slow progress … hit a knive, run, hit a knive, run …
also he has no map control. it feels like you're always behind progress.

then he is extremely good at camping in endgame. what is boring on both sides.

I see, that is all very fair.

With more recent killers getting better map control abiltiies, it definitely feels like he is falling behind.
