    The rework will consist of:

-added two or three new ways for survivors to wake up

-reduced Freddy move speed (due to the ranged nature of his power)

-improved sound cues for when he is invisible (increase sound of footsteps and increased environmental interactions, grass etc)

-removed the skill check penalty while survivors are asleep (we thought his ability to hurt the survivors in dream realm was penalty enough)

Does that about sum it up?

"Now when survivors drop pallets they will wake up"

Or crouch repeatedly very quickly they will wake up.

    Or turn on a flashlight.

    Or run.

    Or simply exist...

  • Also, if you see Attackfrog in game, he sucks.

Like REAL stupid and a terrible survivor. He should stick to killer but he camps a lot. Also runs NOED a lot.

Such a noob. Avoid him cuz he's dumb.

  • Sometimes it's just more efficient than wasting time carrying someone to a hook. It can be risky but hooking is sometimes more risky (ds and lack of hooks).

I slug probably 50% of the time (vs hooking). Sometimes they bleed out before I can find them again.

100% of the time I don't really care if it's fun for the survivor. That's not my job; it's the developers' jobs.

  • Take Franklin's demise and hit the ones with toolbox or flashlight as they run out. Makes it worth it.

  • It's a bit of a paradox:

If NOED activates, and there are more than two survivors left, I have not been playing well.

If I get more than one hook after NOED activates, the survivors are not playing very well.

    Lol pay to win....

    Yup, I paid for Freddy....

    And just keep on paying.

    Every match.

Still waiting for the "to win" part of that deal.

    But I'm sure you're right.

Why focus on the only premium killer that is pay 2 lose when all others are pay 2 win?

Saying that, I love the challenge of both playing as and playing against freddy. Balance is fun, OP babied, hand-holding easy-mode crutchlordery is not.

I believe nurse and Billy are free, which most agree are the top rated.

Spirit is really good too, and probably the best rates paid killer (Myers is pretty good though too).

And Leatherface is a way worse billy. Unless you are just a fan of Leatherface you would never pay for him over the free hillbilly.

  • Why is "camping" a thing?

    Or "tunneling"?

Why not call those "defending the hook" or "lowest denominator" ?

You could just push them out and move on to next game, does tbagging really trigger you that much. Grow a pair.

There is always at least one triggered survivor in threads like these, defending the other kiddos.

To the OP: depending on your time zone, if possible, just play a little later in the evening. I have found there is FAR less juvenile behavior in later games (bed time and all). Just be wary of school breaks...all the kiddies stay up late and mommy let's em have internet access.

  • Omg seriously? Is this a serious concern?

Well clearly we should remove the skill check on DS because a proper crutch shouldn't have a requirement.

If everyone can't win with it, with even a modicum of skill, we need to make it more accessible.

I have to laugh at all the salt here displayed over someone posting that they handled what someone here describe and the brokenly op and unbeatable 4 mans swf squad. Had the screenshot not have been of red ranks near 1 you'd all have said well it's not red ranks so it doesn't matter.

which is funny because if someone shows a red rank killer it then becomes well rank means nothing but because there was all the meta toxic perks according to some of the very same posters here.

Then it turned into let's use other insults to degrade them because gasp someone managed to beat the swat team at red ranks. You couldn't just say hey good job or well done or that's awesome to see you got them all type of thing, nope it's insults away.

That thread a known killer main got a much different response and there's plenty of other thread examples where the treatment is different and @Attackfrog at least got some joking in with his post.

Thanks for the back-up, though most of the people that are berating me are either people who hate me due to recent drama or just because they need someone to gang up on. Appreciate it though.

I stand by what I said... If we beat people when they are packing DS, we need to keep it on the hush hush! How else will we ever get that perk changed? ;)

Next time, block out the DS perk so we don't know!

If you lose, you gotta screenshot and HIGHLIGHT the DS perk!

Killers don't have crutch perks, or at least any perk that gives them a free "do-over".

I can see some people still defend the "ranking" system.

It's not a terrible system...if it weren't so misleading (especially for new players, who it is designed to protect).

It IS achievable by all players, should they decide to.invest the time. It is not achieved by all players (@powerbats, I do not know how to display the difference. You suggest that one negates the other but this is untrue. I am not sure how to best explain how this is true and negates the idea of "ranks", as they are portrayed in this game).

The point is: this game has no rank system. The system it calls "rank" is merely a third (and unnecessary) system to portray a player's time investment.

It is designed to protect new players, but due to the ease of abuse, it does the opposite: allows more hardcore players to bully them for more bloodpoints.

As an fyi: it's like the old WoW pvp realms where slightly higher levels could rank the low ranking zones. (I reference wow a lot...it shows my age lol)

I do understand but I think without it you'd get low skill players and lets not kid ourselves here there's some with 500+ hours that still suck. There's quite a few that can' get past rank 15 and quite a few have posted about it saying killers are op etc.

Now if you're realistically talking about playing with sharks and say you're maining a survivor only it's really around 1k hours or more that you really start to learn how to play. By then you should have the following general knowledge.

    1. Be able to hit great skill check not 100% of the time but at least 50% of the time

    2. Know where totem spawns are and be cleansing them.

    3. Know where generators are for the most part and which ones have priority to be done ie don't 3 gen yourself or if you see it happening work on gens to counter it.

    4. Know the map tiles and where the safe and unsafe pallets are, where good and bad looping spots are, where good and bad places to hide are.

    5. Don't be stupid with Hag traps near hooked players ( we all bang our heads against desks on this one when we see it.)

    6. Do safe unhooks like not running into the camping Bubba holding his chainsaw aloft and who eats Borrowed Time users for breakfast etc.

    7. I could go on here but you get the point but without a rank system as it stands you'd get stuck with those horrible potatoes against say a Marth because you think they're good enough due to hours played.

Now it looks like we are arguing about which word we are describing. I agree with your bullet points. To me, that is more of a "leveling" system rather than a way to rank players. But whatever they choose to call it, I agree that there should be a way to place killers into matches with people of similar skill. Skill tiers/ranks/levels would make sense. The current system of rank/level/pseudo-skill is clearly broken because I consistently get matches against very skilled players at low ranks and various potatoes in high ranks.

I think it has some degree of success because, unless someone is a COMPLETE potato, you can't help but gain at least a little skill by sinking in 500 hours. It's just too easy to manipulate.

I think people who believe DBD has a ranking system should play Dota 2 for a month and see if they can manage to reach the higher ranks there as well. Maybe that'll teach them what a ranking system is.

It's really mind-blowing that if so many bad people reach rank 1 and admit not understanding the game fully yet, others still deny this experience, and if not that the facts.

DBD has the most deceitful seasonal grinding system there is.

Yes! Thank you! I play D3 periodically (usually when a season looks interesting) so that is sort of my Gold Standard to what a season and season ranking should be (I end up usually around rank #132999...give or take a few thousand).

There is a rank 1 and ONLY one rank 1. And it is 100% based on gameplay and achievement within the game (and how quickly it is accomplished). There is a real competitive feel to it (well, not for me)

Currently, DbD has 3 leveling systems (Bloodweb, player level and "rank"), but no actual way to rank players based on merit.

People don’t use male characters because their crouch position looks stupid and isn’t even hiding. I’ve said it before, even in the back brace I have to wear I could maintain a way lower profile position while maintaining mobility

Just another example of male stereotyping in this game... This game portrays men as if ALL men are not flexible. So sexist!!!

Someday, us men will be portrayed as the delicate and beautiful flowers that we are.

I've got over 1551 hours played and I've hit rank 1 both sides so yes I've played this game and no not everyone can be rank one since if that was true there'd never be anyone at 16-20 or stuck at certain ranks due to skill.

    In "levels".

This ranking system is completely bonkers. And meaningless.

Yet it seems to keep to work on keeping some out of ranks they don't belong at otherwise again everyone would always be rank 1 all the time.

    @powerbats said:
Ok what are your suggestions to replace it then, you want to remove something but don't have anything to replace it.

There doesn't need to be a ranking system (unless it is done by actually ranking the players in the two factions). The current system measures playtime (so long as you play mediocre most of the time). I consistently play against groups of rank 2,3 and 15,18...or any variation thereof.

The point is you'd be guaranteeing that a high % of the time that rank 1 players would be playing noobs instead of the chances that are currently there.

Again if it worked like you claimed everyone would be rank 1 and the lower ranks would have almost no players.

What is the point? I get wanting to play with people of the same.skill level but how would having no system change anything about how the game is played now? (Ie: rank 20s can play with rank 1s).

You keep missing the point because you can't accept your logic is flawed, logic clearly dictates that if a small amount of variation happens now. That an even larger amount of variation would happen due to the underlying variables being changed.

In other words your idea is flawed because it would increase the disparity that can happen from an occasional occurrence to a common occurrence.

Everyone, eventually does, get to rank one. Every has the ability to get to rank one (which defeats the purpose of a "ranking" system).

The system is only gated one way: new players aren't supposed to be grouped with rank 1 players (yet they due). People derank to play against new players.

The current system is completely bonkers and should not be called a "rank" system at all. It is more like a leveling system (like WoW....everyone can be max rank, yet not everybody is.).

  • It seems that people that harass post game have a very limited set of words/phrases. It s almost always the usual:

  • That graph does look pretty sound...almost like it was made by a real scientist.

  • Lol, but this "ranking system" works!

See the other thread about the ranking system on the general discussions page.

The system is more an assessment of time played than skillful play. The system increases queue times significantly, and in some cases indefinitely. And in its attempt to find a “balanced” match, it diminishes the connection quality in the process.

This is nonsense. Dead by Daylight has the only community I know of that believes in the mass delusion that Rank does not measure skill. What garbage. This is the kind of mentality a person who thinks he's hot stuff, but actually can't get out of Rank 15, has.

Newsflash: rank measures your ability to consistently perform objectives. If you can't consistently perform objecives, you de-pip. And de-rank eventually.

It absolutely measures your skill. Only the best players who can consistently achieve objectives get to Rank 1.

Stop whining and pretending that Rank does't measure anything, just to keep your fragile ego that you are an actual skilled player, intact. If you are Rank 1 you're good at this game. If you are Rank 15, not so good.

And for the record, I am Rank 15. I accept this and realize I have a long way to go.

    • Have you tried watching YouTube videos of people playing against nur se? It might help (helped me with a few killers)
    • Maybe you are just out matched. No offense meant. I know when I am playing against a very good survivor who knows how to loop and juke that I am probably just out played. The only time you should ever DC is when you have something in real life going on or you are stuck and the killer/survivors can't help you.  End of story. Rage quitting should never be something you do. Can't handle the game and the everything that comes with it? Don't play. I've never understood why people DC, just take it and move on to the next match.  Getting thrashed as killer? Getting tunneled as survivor? Getting camped? Flashlighted with every downed survivor? Just keep playing and move on, a DC won't do you or anyone else any good. :( But then what happens when a fun time turns into a bad one? Where a game where you thought you had fun then causes stress? No one plans to have a bad day. I say there’s two types of rage quitters. The ones that DC because they simply can’t accept a loss and then there are those that become so stressed through a multitude of things that they have no say over (like a SWF communicating to sabo hooks right in front of the killers’ faces).

It is not healthy for some. Stress, for me, is detrimental due to my Diabetes and how stress increases the glucose produced in my liver, therefore able to make me ill.

If playing this game causes your stress levels to get to unhealthy levels, I believe even the developers would agree it might be in your best interest to play something else.

If this were the dbd e-sports championship and there was 3 million dollars on the line, it might be worth it.

But it's not. So it's not.

If I were to go and play something else the money that I have spent on Cosmetics and the game itself would become a waste. However, I dare say that it is indeed unhealthy: but I am being as productive as I would be stepping outside in England trying to catch a tan. I do try to have fun, I really do, but that now only happens for me when I face Nurses and Spirits, or play as Spirit or run into friendly survivors.

There aren’t enough relaxing games released nowadays anyway. PlayStation Home was something I’d always relax on before it shut down and most games nowadays have a money-grabbing online service. Like Red Dead Redemption 2: try fishing peacefully and you’ll be shot in the back of the head by some a-holes that don’t understand the word pacifism. If there were games I could go and play to relax I would. But none I’ve encountered allow for a social aspect within a relaxing setting.

Really!? For what it's worth, I play dbd for a while...then it becomes stressful and not worth my time, so I play other games and eventually come back.

Try playing coop versus ai games. Heroes of the Storm versus AI is my go to for brainless fun. Fun and easygoing at ANY level and there are so many characters for different play styles.

Warframe is AWESOME. I have played it in varying amounts for years. Never gets old and very fun/no pressure...so long as you over gear and find a good group (most are). You can play solo too.

Killing Floor 2 is fun, relaxing, brainless zombie fps fun too.

Dont flame me....but WoW is actually VERY easygoing nowadays, unless you hardcore PVp or end game raid...but anything entry or mid level is VERY easygoing.

Those are just a few of my go to games when I don't want sweaty palms and want a Netflix show playing in the background.

I am a Console Pheasant, my dear. Tried Heroes of the Storm... and kept destroying teams with my friend. I played Warframe for a while until I got Trinity Prime and Oberon (healers, which is my go-to role in any game) and then... I knew no one else who played it, so I never had anyone who actually wanted me to play the game with them. Killing Floor was fun but it became too repetitive and WoW, I’ve never touched.

I would most definitely enjoy this game more with friends. But when all of your friends move on to Fortnite and Red Dead Redemption is unplayable because every 20 seconds you’re back at the deceased screen again... it is disheartening.

Perhaps I should play Civilisation like Matthieu once recommended. I just feel disheartened to a point where all games are unappealing, and where I’d rather slide into threads and just talk. Hell, if that VR chat was on PS4 I would make my avatar a tiny anime girl and yell like a drunk fully grown Scottish man for the laughs.

Well there you go! The forum game is the real end game for ANY game.

I wish Marvel Heroes was still around because I that was probably my all time favorite go to game AND forum.

That reminds me....there is DCUO too....also fun....I play it for a few months on, then.bored and a few months off but the forum is fun too.

  • I read all of it. The current rank system has always seemed absolutely silly and arbritrary. The addition of swf makes it even more so (due to "high" ranks being placed with "low" ranks....so stupid, which completely negates the rank system purpose)

Your idea makes sense...And might actually make rank mean something in this game.

Until then, I won't pay attention to it because it is absolutely stupid.
