Its well balanced if you camp you get punished severely seems fair

if survivors knew to do gens, then yes, the camping killer would be "punished severely".

But if they rush the hook (most survivors do), then the only one who is "punished severely" is the hooked survivor as the killer fights the survivors flocking the hook.

In swf groups, they will take advantage of communication and alternate dipping into the radius to prolong unhook time (which is stated already in this thread)

Again: this is a swf buff and perk that prolongs camping (not punishes ) it

  • Lol learn to juke, loop, hide and do gens and you won't be camped...

But back to what this topic is about: this isn't an anti camping perk. It's a "save the hook" perk. As such, it's too long and will likely be abused, further strengthening the swf groups.

As an anti-camp perk it will be counterproductive and actually increase camping.

Read the thread, then comment. You'll make more sense.

Necessarily the killer could be no I need a hook and I could still very easily just walk by it go work on a gen that's close to the hook and then save the person later.

In fact the timer suddenly being paused is more likely to make a killer come back to the hook than anything else

you can see beyond the face value of the perk and you are absolutely right! This perk will like draw out the camping time.

Timer stops and I am zipping right back to the hook. Hopefully I get there right when they unhook so I get my second hook freebie.

  • @RoKrueger said:

When I camp it is because the rest of the survivors are all around me pointing at me demanding me to leave.

Hahaha. The perk could give you a whole extra minute for all I care. If those "saviors" are not going away to do gens, I am not going away either.

Yes, thank you! If I camp and nobody is around, since they are doing gens, the perk doesn't matter and I am dumb for standing around while gens go off like fireworks.

If it's meant as an anti-camp perk, it is very poorly designed.

All you gotta do is just leave the hook if your gonna complain about it so much before it's even fully released.

    you missed the entire point

If someone camps, and I do, it doesn't matter how long it extends the timer because the other survivors clearly aren't doing gens....they are rushing the hook...which just makes for an extended period of time being camped...

which defeats the purpose of it being an anti-camping perk.

I believe it is meant as a last minute save perk. In which case, 30 sec is WAAAY too long.

  • I'll still camp through it. When I camp, the timer becomes irrelevant. I'd camp all day if survivors keep running around the hook.

It's a long timer that won't hurt camping but certainly helps that last second save on the hook. Pretty sure that was it's intended use.

This state just gives the hooked survivor an extra minute and a half of unfun playtime until next match if killer camps it.

5-10 seconds would make more sense. With coordinated SWF...imagine the nightmare for killers.

  • Others have mentioned this and I believe it has to do with licensing. I think they are licensed with the remake.

I would love it though. There are probably a few cool outfits we could get into from the original movies.

  • Labor day weekend...It's almost wrong if I'm NOT camping.

  • I wish there was a "pay to win" option.

    If buy it.

  • It's labor day weekend here in america...

I have plans to spend it camping...

    In dead by daylight.

  • maybe "Behavior" and "Behav1or" were already taken so the options were probably "xBehaviorx" or "Behav10r".

Like picking a screen name...they just got in a little late.

  • I play This game off and on....

Different day, same kids in chat post game.

Just gotta play til.you have enough and then go play something else. Maybe Some day of enough adults quit the developers will institute some sort of plan to keep the kiddies out so we can play the game without all the chat garbage.

Then again, look at the world we live in.

  • I am just happy We have mm. I have never played a game where the killers felt so true to form.

Some cosmetic options would be nice but I am guessing that if they aren't doing it it's because it's not cost effective.

We are getting a Stranger Things monster ffs.

    I wonder if $ plays a role...

  • Can't win em all.

  • It solves the tunneling complaint and still gives survivors a "do over" option but now comes with a penalty.

It's a good solid perk now. Killers really have no reason to grief someone with DS now (another perk of the rework).

    I think it's solid.

  • Changes to DS are brilliant! Probably mentioned already, but it's now also an anti-camping mechanic.

    Love it!!!

Just a random list of things I thought would be cool in Dead by Daylight but I guarantee will never be in the game.

-Create your own maps: I always thought that there she be a mode where players could make their own maps using the assets in the game, they could choose he color of them map, generator, totem, hook, basement, chest etc. placements, program the actions that repaired generators do, Example: Opening certain doors upon activation. I live thinking about this idea, but I highly doubt this will never be thought of, considering that Behavior probably don't even use the forums for content ideas.

-Other escape modes: Escape in the car, boat helicopter, kill the killer IDK, fixing generators and opening some poorly constructed gate gets a little boring after awhile.

-Voice acting: Like, actual talking. I still don't understand why nobody talks. Sure there are theories and speculations, but they aren't official reasons why nobody talks. I really want to hear Freddy call the survivors "#########" while he kills them.

-Console Exclusive survivor: Yeah, I doubt it

-Original Freddy: Maybe in some alternate universe we have cosmetics for Freddy that make him look like the original Robert Englund Freddy, but not this universe

-Offline Bots: They won't add these because let's be honest, in most games, the AI are pretty easy to deal with and because of this in DBD if they ever added them then they most likely wouldn't give you any points unlike games like Friday the 13th

    More Moris: LOL more Moris

That's about it, remember that being toxic can get out camped, peace

I can't remember the last time I agreed with everything in an op...

But I agree with all these! Fun escape modes...YES! Make me.guard a boat/chopper/whatever...it sounds like an awesome change!

Great voice lines (lauries grunts are the closest thing we have...watch the original Halloween when she is trying to unlock the door when being chased by mm...they got it pretty close!), But it would be fun to see some dialogue...especially If it was in surround sound!

And the original freddy...scary from 1 yet campy from 3-5(and ok...throw in something from 2..).I grew up with those....PLEASE put them in game (getting tired of the revamps).

And an AI mode....omfg, I have been wanting this since forever! BHVR: go ask blizzard how much $ I spent in the past year to play mostly against AI! Then tell me you can't finance one.

PUT IN AN AI MODE SO I CAN ENJOY THE GAME AND NOT WORRY ABOUT ADOLESCENT GOOBERS SPEWING THEIR DUMBASS CURSE WORDS AT ME!

COULD THERE BE AN "ADULT SWIM" MODE PLEASE!?!?

  • Sometimes when a killer is pretty drunk, it's honestly easier to just follow one survivor rather than try to manipulate other or mindgame.

I know this. Because I have done it.

    A lot.

If people haven't been there, then they won't understand.

    More drinks = more tunneling.

  • Sometimes I camp because I can plop my killer in front of the hook and then proceed to drink my beer and finish my chalupa without the need to touch my keyboard and mouse.

Sorry...you might be a victim of convenience.

What am I supposed to do? Eat a cold chalupa?

This is a well thought out qol for Freddy.

I always liked his play style but waking up.was too easy and there just wasn't enough penalty for being in Freddys dream.world (where he should be in absolute control).

These slight buffs make dream world frightening and something survivors should want to avoid.

Thanks :) I spent a while working on it and thinking of ways to change him up without completely reworking his power

I have always liked his power and have done fairly well with him...EXCEPT when survivors know how to manipulate his power and wake themselves up. It just seemed like more of an exploit than actually defeating Freddy.

Your buffs don't seem over the top and yet still counterable with good stealth play, timing and perks.

I feel like these changes would put him closer to MM, maybe just slightly above, which is where all killers should be.

The devs are hiding in fear of the community they created.

It's true. The player base of this game is one of the most "toxic" (aka insulting and unfriendly) I have encountered in 20+ years of online gaming.

Is this your only online game or something? This game's community isn't even in the same plane of existence as League of Legends, or anything by Blizzard.

Did you not read my entire post or something? I have been playing online games since "online" meant LAN parties.

And yes, the player base in this game is one of the worst. LoL, CoD....those are quite tame compared to the garbage that gets spewed in post game chat. The only saving grace is that I can't hear those 10 year olds screaming in my ear since I don't do voice chat.

No - this will just increase lobby times.

The issue is most killers don't care about SWF. It's only the vocal minority on this forum that cry so much about it.

Competent killers aren't on this forum saying the game should be easier, they playing the game and being efficient at all ranks against all teams.

SWF is not an issue, and you certainly shouldn't be encouraging lobby dodging by notifying killers.

How do you know? Honestly (not trying to be argumentative) how do you know most killers don't care?

My guess is that if killers had the option, they would choose NON swf 9/10 times (the 1/10 being the arrogant one who thinks he can beat them).

  • Don't worry, it will still happen when event is over.

    Rank is arbitrary this game.

  • Probably playing at rank 20.

Learn maps, learn to loop, and learn to pallet drop...you'll be fine.

  • Lol listen to all these survivors!

"Noooo...but I want to be able to get real time info about the killer/map/gens/etc AND have all my perks! We're not commandos! We just want an unfair advantage since we grouped with friends who can tell us everything they see/hear!!!"

lol this game either needs to balance around grouped teams or find a way to reduce the swf advantage. Simple as that. Anything else is bonkers.

    play warframe. It's super fun

    Is it less grindy now?

It is probably more grindy than ever, but I don't mind it. The gameplay is still super fun for me.

Has the gameplay changed in any significant way?

Not really, run n gun, parkour, different frames/weapons build for different things (crit/status/etc).

I have just always enjoyed it and haven't taken a significant break from it since I started a few years ago. It's my go-to shooter and even in grouping, there is almost no salt or harassment. In fact, I have had too many fun groups to count over the years, whereas in DbD I have had far too many negative interactions.

My experience in Warframe is the opposite. People who're pissed you don't magically know everything or have all the best equipment from the start. And while the gameplay is fun, it got boring very quickly due to the grind - I just wasn't getting anywhere despite putting in many, many hours into it.

Oh gotcha. Yeah, I have had great experiences, even when I am the noob in the group. I guess it's just people RNG lol

I fully agree that a profanity filter is past due. But I'm not gonna abandon this little gem of a game anyways. I'm hoping that the player base will grow with time. :-)

It's not even just the profanity, it's the namecalling and other types of harassment that go on post game. It's just bonkers. I don't know why it is so bad in this game (versus others I play).

While I really do enjoy this game, eventually, the harassment and negative player base takes its toll and removes the fun. When that happens, I play (and spend money on) other games.

Good. There is no rule that survivors must work together...one of the many unintended down sides of swf.

I feel that survivors organically working together OR turning against each other is the way this game was intended to be played.

Well, I wouldn't say turning against each other, but being selfish definitely is okay. It isn't fun when killers farm you.

Farming can be beneficial for both survivors and killers.

In a killers defense, it is VERY hard to put up that flag. When one or two survivors dc, I can try but some.survivors can't see the attempt to farm....we.can back away or nod, but it is very hard to communicate that I want to farm.

If it comes down to a survivor telling me where the other survivor is, once downed, I will take it 10/10 times (why wouldn't i?). Then, whether I k that downed survivor or not depends how many beers I had and how generous I feel.

  • I am.

Haven't played in a month cuz I got sick of the toxicity/racism/juvenile environment/name calling/ridiculous behavior of the player base.

That is honestly the sad truth of every kind of DBD forums.
At least this forum is not the Steam Forum, lol. Where the toxicity meter is through the [BAD WORD] ceiling.
I just figured that since this is their official forum, they'd take some of the things that are being said here into some consideration.
Yes the community can be unreasonable at times (Like Killers asking devs to delete DStrike while Survivors asking devs to make Killers weaker), but there are times when those complaints are validated like with this event.

No one likes it, and those who do, good for you. But it's obvious the majority of the community feels that this event is a bad idea.

They don't listen. If they did, they would put the filter they use on their forums in post game chat.

They don't care though, so long as folks spend money.

Since it is 2019, I am honestly surprised this game has lasted as long as it did. I assumed someone would have sued them over their allowed use of racial slurs and crazy offensive language in post game chat.

And yet....here we are. Playing a game that allows people to speak to other people like we are from 1985....Or 1910, depending on your language.

It must make them good money. Hope they can sleep on their beds made from dollars and racism.

How can they monitor when a survivor helps a killer? If someone does it consistently, they can probably figure it out, but a random survivor pointing to another survivor? Lol good luck. Might as well ban for teabagging and camping.

I said the purge 'cause rules don't matter in the purge. They still do right now. That's what I'm talking about. If someone does it often, they should get reported for it. Telling people just to ignore it 'cause it 'can't be helped, oh wells, online play' isn't constructive. If they have video of the incident, that helps their case even more. Teabagging and camping isn't against the rules. False equivalence.

It actually is constructive. You play in a world with over 8 billions humans. Over 0.25K of those humans play dead by daylight (lol :) )

If you want to play online games, you either have to learn to cope with the people that exploit and play as unintended or else play offline games. Unless these developers learn how to ban the folks that exploit...but then good luck finding a Q with only 150 people Q'ing....

Blame the survivor community who cried loud enough such that the devs lost their balls and sticked with the jcurrent hatch mechanic

    This basically ^

The devs refuse to do anything to balance the hatch so killers are left with no other choice.

His point wasn't about the hatch. His complaint was that the downed survivor teamed up with the killer to get him killed, which is against the rules.

Welcome to online gaming, where human beings control online avatars.

It's scummy, but unless there is an AI mode, humans still take control. And humans are extra good at screwing over other humans.

play killer or swf if you don't want to run the risk of selfish survivors.

It's under Griefing: Intentional Gameplay Abuse fyi. I don't care if you like it. It's against the rules. If you don't like it, find another game to play. :)

Such a nice attitude you have...

Once again, this game is played by humans. If there is an exploit, they will find it. You (and I) can't change the way people will play. I have accepted that but it sounds like you may not have yet. So until humans start all playing "nicely", perhaps you may prefer offline games?

Too Cheap to Spend $4 After A Year Watch Update

Still hasn't bought it. That is all.

(But seriously, what is this topic accomplishing other than wasting space?)

It makes me smile. Totally worth it to me.

(I have bbq already cuz I bought Leatherface and leveled him. Not for BBQ mind you, but for awesome camping. Also totally worth it)

  • We should nerf moris. Definitely. They should only be usable after a survivor successfully uses DS, regardless of times hooked.

In seriousness, DS should be an earned skill available for every survivor in each match. As penalty, a killer should be able to mori any survivor that uses DS successfully.
