  • I thought maybe a child or group of children (twins, triplets)

You can switch which one you control and the others stay static but slash anyone within range, but maybe sing a song. Maybe they give a sound notification when they see someone.

ANyway, backstory is maybe they got murdered or whatever and are seeking vengeance. Or whatever....creepy kids are creepy and it would be fun to manage multiple things (like Vikings in HotS....but more gruesome).
  • If I had a nickel every time I was called "trash"....(In this game or otherwise...happened just today lol!)..

And if I had a dime every time I 4k'd and was called "trash" or "Baaadd" (with 3 a's and 2 d's)....

Well, I could probably almost afford to buy the next dlc!

This game should institute a swear jar! You can call someone names, but costs you a quarter.

Just another kick in the killers balls in my opinion. If they keep this crap up no one will even want to play killer soon. Then the survivors can have it how they have always wanted it and just do all the gens and leave without even seeing a killer lol. Fun game lately DEVS...Not! Every change you have made lately has been for the worse if you are a killer. Im getting seriously tired of the favoritism

    Not jokes? Wow.

You know you don't have to camp if you just get better at the game, right?

    Right @Orion ?

Lol, statements like that are usually said by people who have no clue how to play an effective killer. It's ok, though, you just don't know any better.

I, for one, love this change. I no longer get penalized (by ranking up) for effectively guarding the hook.

In fact, they could "penalize" me more if they want! Make it an instant de-pip for engaging in a chase near the hook!

Nice try. I 4k 90% of the time with different killers and play to have fun, not sit and "guard a kill" or tunnel. You justify it however you like sweetheart, you're just trash.

Lol again with the insults. Obviously those that actually 4k don't actually announce it on the forums...you can just tell from how they talk.  It's ok...you just don't know any better. Keep at it though, I am sure you will get it.

    Eventually.

    Success isn't for everyone.

I was being pretty sincere. I'm new to the game and was curious if other were having the same feelings I was towards Leatherface. Again, I don't own Leatherface, but I have been easily overwhelmed when playing against it. I'm going to try the advice people offered, sticking to corners and windows when I can and NOT run out into the open like a lemming.

I spent quite a bit of time leveling leatherface for his teachables and as the rank for higher, it got more and more difficult to use his chainsaw. Most survivors can hear it and once you start charging, they stick to walls and corners making it impossible to get a hit.

His only useful add-ons reduce chainsaw noise, but against good survivors, I am left running and swinging with my hammer.

Low ranks i have been able to swipe a group of 3 swf (I am assuming because they clumped together)...but only 1x. He is a hard killer to succeed with!

I gain blood points faster at lower ranks.

Lower ranks are better for leveling my killers.

And if the vast majority of players suck, and are at lower ranks, why not support the majority of the player base?

everyone gains bp faster at lower ranks. grinding shouldnt be your endgame, and after a few hundred hours, your focus should shift from grinding to fun/competition in this competitive game.

im not saying dont support low rank randos.  most low rank randos dont often stream at all. im saying that the people you should be supporting are the ones not dcing, and actually playing at rank1, because its better for you as a viewer to see real skill, than to watch deranked swf bully low level killers.

and again, if you are capable of playing at rank1, do that. you arent gaining skill by playing at rank15. bloodpoints come and go, they shouldnt be your focus. if your focus is bp, you probably arent really having fun, and definitely arent competitive.

im putting this out there to help people like you, who are content to a life of mediocrity (averageness) instead of reaching your potential.

I enjoy this game.for many reasons. The reason I keep coming back to it is the fun factor. Fun for me is 4ks, good chases, and feeling like a bada@@ killer.
At higher ranks I get more insults, more circles, more flashlights and toolboxes. I also find it more frustrating.

I am a more casual player for this game, and will most likely never reach endgame (unlike other games I play), but I believe casual players are the majority in most games (because that actually is what we consider "fun")

And game.time makes no difference to developers....They cater to the players that make the most sense: the ones that spend money. If you have bought all the content befor e, you will likely buy the newest release.

be more epic. i know its in you. no offense, but you people need to reach down there, find your balls, and use them.

Not if I am a woman. Or a Eunuch.

The problem is really more complicated than just "do gens" though. Doing gens is fine, but its again boring if we have no threat from the killer because he's sitting on one hooked survivor.

Then there is the BP problem. So killer hooks one dude, the other survivors pop all 5 gens and leave.... everyone gets minimal BP. And the poor sap on the hook got maybe a 1k of bp because he (thankfully) struggled and had the most boring time.

Again, its IMO a problem with this game not having a well defined win condition. Lately, I've been more interested in BP, but certainly when I started it was about ME surviving. The game is unbalanced in more ways than just killer vs survivor.

Yes, in that scenario, camping doesn't really help anyone. At better ranks, the survivors won't just leave, they will taunt the killer into Chase mode, then when he stays tethered to hook, they escape the chase and at least earn some BPs. But if the killer has been that bad, they can usually manage to pull him far enough away to free the hook and 4scape. In that scenario, the survivors out played the killer and the killer camped stupidly.

There dumb ways to camp the hook too...definitely agree on that.

The point isn't whether or not camping is allowed or not allowed. It is clearly as allowed as any other strategy short of holding the game hostage.

The point is that anyone with half a brain cell realises that you are playing against other people who 9/10 want a cool gaming experience. You don't get a good gaming experience by being facecamped by a killer or hard camped and immediately tunneled off the hook. Killers like this are not any good at the game, won't ever be complimented and can expect people who are playing a game to (shock horror) have fun and get treated like shite to give them some mouth.

Good killers are not obsessed with 'winning' whatever that seems to mean or getting a 4k every game, but are interested in having a fun game for themselves and the survivors.

Weak and unskilled killers will carry on camping and tunneling, the top killers will carry on giving their survivors great games. Simple as that.

True, good killers have more in depth approaches to their gameplay. Timing, corralling survivors, map control, etc. Unskilled players in either side shouldn't be rewarded. They gotta take care of that d strike, no risk high reward perk. People say noed is a crutch, but the chase still has to happen, so not gauranteed.

I agree. I have lost plenty of survivors even while running NOED....but that is more a testament to my lack of skill (or the skill of the survivors).

There are certainly ways to play which hinder both teams objectives, no matter what they may be (bps, dailes, winning).

So you are proud of being bad at the game? That is what I understand from what you are saying.

Then you didn't read the post. It's usually the bad survivors that throw insult. Doesn't make me mad....I just feel bad for you, but keep at it. You'll get better!

  • @MisterCremaster said:
I don't have a problem with campers, its just boring. I think the devs should figure out a way to embrace the strategy and give survivors something to do while on the hook (NOT SKILL CHECKS OR SMASHING BUTTONS). But, I dunno, even stupid emotes. I think you should be earning some BP while hanging on the hook, and not just during the struggle phase (which is super boring).

I liked one guys idea of giving hooked survivors an ability to wander around the map as a ghost.

Earning blood points while hooked would.Give survivors less incentive to avoid killers. Good groups.often stay after exit gates are opened to farm blood points against sloppy killers, which (imo) defeats the essence of this game.

But the wandering around might work unless it is a swf where they basically can be used as a free scout to follow the killer and relay info to group. They might have to have vc somehow disabled to allow that.

Edit: but then again, I don't think there is any way to ever disable voice chat with friends that want to use it...It just sucks to have to worry about balancing a game around use of voice chat.

I played tonight and didn't camp....but I played Myers for his "lvl EW 4 times" daily. Survivors gen rushed and popped gates in no time...I got like three hooks and no kills...just spent time stalking and hitting if the opportunity came.

Last survivor tbing by exit gates....so I stood and stalked for the 3rd level...she tried to flashlight me...but I hit EW III anyway...let it run out while she taunted me....then did it again for the 4th.

Game took like 7 minutes...killer got 2nd most BPs, plus daily.

There are so many ways to play the game...some people just can't handle it. When someone gets triggered by camping or tbagging...maybe it's time to stop playing online games.

Your fault for picking meyers lol. Camping is an issue as it locks a player out of the game, and is very boring. The issue is lack of objectives, if there was enough objectives and a point penalty for camping, it would be fixed. Similar to safe unhook but for hooking which which works with bbq stacks. Same for wglf, let the safe unhook work for that. Even as killer, I don't camp cause it is boring. If I see visually multiple survivors I will defend the hook with reason. Some killers just need to get good and another part is the game isn't fair for killers but the map changes and such is a step in the right direction.

You may have.missed some.of the earlier posts, but I disagree....an unskilled camper is no match for coordinated survivors. If the camper is winning simply by sitting.on the hooks, then the survivors are playing poorly.

Likewise, if I am camping a hook while gens are being popped left and right and 3 survivors have free reign.of the map, then I am playing poorly.

It has bots. Wish dbd had bots.

    Hope dbd gets bots, too.

    ew
only if bot mode is unranked and gives zero bp like kyf.

Nah, full, or partial rewards so i can dodge toxic people, and the constant stream of try hard swfs.

if you cant see why this is a bad idea without me spelling it out for you, then i shouldnt waste my time.

also ”try hard” is not only a ridiculous concept, but its what people say when they lose games, to try to minimize the other sides win. in reality, all they did was press some wasd and m1 in a different order than you in this 90% intelligence based game.

the devs will never add bots anyway, its not even on their radar. this is a pvp game.

So was Friday the 13th. Lots of pvp games either get bots or just die.
Bots may not be as far off as you think considering the tutorial has, at the least, the ground work.

Don't bother trying to make excuses for swfs that do coordinated gen rushes, hyper efficient groups, and other madness that flies in the face of the spirit of the game.
It's not worth the headache of trying to vs them. The sooner i can do without them, and get points, and shards, the better. Rank doesn't concern me.

It's antisocial mmo/pvp. You're not supposed to be communicating with others, teaming up to defang killers, etc.
You're supposed to be 4 individuals, not a team.

That's not to say I don't believe swf is important. It is. It's not going anywhere. People will make it work.
People will communicate outside of game, too. No stopping it.

You know the old saying? Hell is other people.

I know it could be detrimental with people who vs cpu until they get a ton of perks, and stuff, then go out into the world.
That could be done away with via 2 versions of each character, one vs bots, one not vs bots.

Worried that it might turn online into a ghost town now that people won't have to lobby dodge 4 person swfs? Blame the swfs for squeezing too hard, and not giving a damn about killers having fun.

Yeah, there's bad stuff that could happen, but there's ways around it. Doesn't help much that i don't care, either.

HotS does it....and does it well. No need for separate characters. A lot of people use vs Bots to level a character and learn the.mechanics. And with the current rank system, it makes it even more efficient.

Why not have the option to level a character vs ai. Let's face it, even Blizzards best AI is nothing like playing against a coordinated team. Same is true for dbd.

I would love an AI option...on both sides. Give me the option to swf against an ai killer and kill a group of ai survivors. P!ease!!!

  • I get playing with your friends.

Fair option would be to allow the killer to hear their voice chat.

Just seems like the only way to keep q times low and keep killer on level ground.

  • Still gonna camp. I don't care about rank....in fact, lower rank is easier and I don't need to camp as much because survivors aren't as good/coordinated...so I end up doing better lol.

  • I agree with the headsets. I tried without once and having it with surround sound makes life so much easier.

I never realized how much I had been missing by playing without.

  • JoannaVO said:

I do understand that camping is a constant tactic for some people, but don't you want to get more skillfull by trying to work out other ways of playing and possibly winning? Not saying people who camp are instantly awful people that do not have skill, but I do know that people who camp will never really get ''good'' at the game because they haven't given themself the opportunity to learn new things and see what else works out.

I believe that part of skill is learning when to camp (because there is definitely skill to not being pulled off a camp without losing generators).

Here is an example:  If you run the perk that shows survivor auras that are x distance away from you when you hook someone and you hook someone but no auras show up....this means all survivors (or however many didn't show) are within x range of you, likely waiting for you to run off so they can free the hook.

There are other times when camping a hook is absolutely a great strategy too. And as that salty post under yours states (untactfully), a good survivor has plenty of tools to get me away from the camp and free the survivor.

It is usually the immature or bad survivors that tbag, call names and threaten to report, but I can't get made at them....They just don't know any better.

The good ones usually understand what I am doing and counter it.
  • I wish I could listen to the Halloween (Michael Myers) theme for every killer....and also pretty much non-stop throughout my day.

Honestly, I challenge anyone to name ONE thing it doesn't go well with.
  • I’ll never understand why survivors do that, honestly.

One thing that I’ve always wondered is how they’re not bored staying behind after the exit gates are open just to taunt the killer for 5 minutes or more.

@The_Fallen_Utopia I don’t think they should add a time limit but they should make it to where the survivors auras are shown to the killer indefinitely if they don’t leave precisely one minute after the exit gate is open, the aura reading wouldn’t be applied if the killer is in chase mode, someone’s on the hook, or if they’re within a certain distance from the gates.

That’s an idea I have had for quite awhile now but I’m not sure if that’s even balanced because theres so many different scenarios to be played out.
Yes. I love the immersion of this game and the balance....but I still remember that this is a game..and there are certain licenses we need to abide by to make it viable (as a game).

No human survivor would farm bp and dailies after the gates are open (irl) so the scenario you offer is not only viable, but holds true to lore and yet still holds up within the confines of a game.

    Please add this!
  • Camping, in any form, is a viable strategy. Like any strategy, there are ways for survivors to counter it and win. Sounds like those survivors didn't realize that.

Killer is doing his objective as the survivor does.
As long as survivors camp and tunnel a gen that is nearly finished, the killer can do the same.

Wait so now survivors are camping a gen instead of gen rushing? The killer has a choice to leave the camped person.

The survivor has to stay on that gen to finish it or get chased by the killer coming near it or to save that person. If there's a Devour hope up or the gates are powered.

There's a huge difference where 1 has a choice while the other in order to complete their objective has to stay and focus that 1 thing down.

When a killer moves around they can freely decide where they want to go in order to do their objectives and can roam the map taking a direct route to a gen.

The survivor can't always go the most direct route,e specially if it's directly in the open.

In fairness, a killer doesn't have as much freedom either. A good survivor will wait while I go clomping off towards that gen and sneak in behind me and pop the survivor i just left on the hook.

Also, I can slug the survivor that came to rescue the hook but a good team will have another survivor waiting for me to haul that slug off to another hook and pop the first one free. Or that slug creeps away while I camp and gets healed etc. Or,cuz I am pretty dumb, they bait me just far enough from hook to let another one in to unhook, who I might hit but the unhooked survivor gets a running chance (due to changes)

There is always a consequence (which, imo is what makes this game fun for both sides)
  • I played wraith today and camped.

So fun when you get the timing of bell down. Lol survivors come like moths to a flame rescue whoever is on the hook.

It's not a bad strategy. Other survivors should just pop generators and escape...but no, they all want the "unhook" bps...or daily....or swf ...lol.
  • There is no penalty or consequence for a killer to camp.

It is instant win and thus, every killer should always have camp right on hook for instant 4k...every time.

All other survivors will flock to hook and be Insta killed by killer. Game over.

    Nerf killers!
  • This is all good, but matches would be too fast.

You'd have to buff killer blood points too.

Otherwise game would be broke....too long to level killers.
