  • I love FFXIV. I tend to rotate games, a few months with one, a few months w another.

DCUO...until I get back to endgame which really closes but leveling new characters is fun and one of the best Halloween events.

wow classic. Quit wow after Panda patch...played again with WoD and bfa...but for bored quick.

ESO. It's not an Es game but it's fun!

Warframe. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with this game. Love it, just get bored with it.

killing floor 2: when I want to play as a REAL survivor

I am blown away that it took 20 posts to get to an immersed claudette!!!

what has become of these forums!?

  • There are no toxic perks in this game, only toxic people.

If someone is salty, any perk you run when you win is "toxic".

    Run what you want.

  • Dammit! What gave it away!? King was never supposed to corner the young adult and tween horror market....that was mine....MINE

Hmm...I have the distinct feeling you dislike King... probably just my imagination.

I love kings work! I just liked it a lot better when the original authors published it.

  • I agree with a !it of what you say here. I have fun either way as killer but the ranking system is quite counter intuitive.

  • Dark tower, and not the dumbass movie....

oh wait....If they wanted to make a character based off Stephen king, it could be called the Thief...

Powers: steals other characters original powers (like king does stories), waters them down (like kind dumbs down the stories he steals) and receive double bloodpoints for using them (like king does when he makes a ton of money from illiterate Americans who never cracked a book)

pS I'm not a Stephen king fan. I was...until I read the things most of his garbage is stolen from based off

Seriously, what are they going to give Jason beyond a machete?! Have you watched the 13 plus movies? I have seen them all. No super power here, just keeps coming and swings a machete. M1 all the way. The ignorance is in not understanding the source material.

I have only read up to this point but if you are going to insult someone's understanding of "source material", you should probably have a solid grasp yourself:

One of Jasons chief abilities is some sort of unacknowledged teleportation ability (though in fairness, even to call it that feels wrong).

Prime example: in part VIII, with the teacher in the alley after they reach Manhattan (if you need me to elaborate you probably need to re-assess your own knowledge of the "source material".)

Additiionally, you could argue that "he didn't alway s have those 'powers'" and you would be incorrect. His powers grew as the series unfolded and really only became supernatural in the 6-7 transition (which would make a great survivor +perks...part vii I mean!)

It could also be argued that during parts 1,2 and 3 where {SPOILER ALERT LOL} The killer is his human mom and then just him as a grown up, that he is able to accomplish some very supernatural tasks (is killing and planting bodies while being undetected). If you aren't sure what I mean, rewatch those first 3 and try to figure out how a human could accomp!ish those things.

TL;dr if they can make ghost face a killer, Jason has a wealth of abilities to draw from..UNLESS they pull from the remake....in which case, yes you are right. He's a psycho w a machete, but PLEASE don't tell me you are arguing in this thread and are only familiar with the reboot...Nobody wants reboot Jason the same way nobody really wanted reboot freddy

  • He could see survivors auras when both killer and survivor are in corn/tallgrass.

Would make him great in two terrible maps

  • Probably more legit than some of the other "experiments" some companies cite to sell products.

    I say go for it.

  • Wouldn't have to make threads about it if devs would fix it.

She was garbage tier upon release. Maybe not that garbage, but certainly wasted potential. Then after a few weeks she got buffed upping her power.

Ah crud you're right, they did buff her. I forgot about that.

@Attackfrog ONE hook is not a win for the killer, and I can "win" even with being hooked, by pipping up. If you're ranking up for 1k, then you're likely not a high rank killer. I can't rank up as killer by getting one hook even at rank 16(haven't played killer much for 2 rank resets, due to trying to get out of bad killer/survivor ranks).

I have. And you can, especially if you max out your hits and chase because survivors rush the hook...especially if you down another one. Again, the rank system is borked.

then again, in high ranks.most survivors don't rush the hook, negating any success from camping.

but those survivors play well and.If you camp, you don't get your points because they gen rush and escape, but usually try to lo op or bait the killer from hook.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

    Better alternative would be;

    Perk- Boot to the Face

While hooked and a survivor attempts a rescue with the killer in close proximity, you kick them in the face leaving them stunned for 3 sec. When rescued after activating you receive the effect of borrowed time for 20 sec even if the rescuer is without the perk.

I always blame teammates for off the hook tunneling, killer is just taking advantage of bad survivor plays.

I like this. SOOO many times people are camped and blame the killer when it is actually due to dumbass survivors rushing the hook or trying to get their unhooking points.

People always blame.the killer but this idea actually addresses one of the main reasons I camp!

You don't win by killing one survivor. You also don't get it. I'm not always the one found first, and my teammates are generally idiots who rush to save, sometimes he has insidious, etc. Just because I'm not the one caught doesn't make it any more fun. The killer won't rank up, the survivors won't rank up. It's only purpose is to frustrate everyone involved in the game outside of the killer. The killer only wins if the survivors are stupid(which in lower ranks, they are, and even in higher ones they sometimes are). It is griefing 100%. Just happens to be allowed by the devs.

If survivors are.rushing to save, camping makes sense because you down another one.

when doors pop, sometimes one hook is all you can get (you've been outplayed) and you guard it to fight for your 1k

I rank up if I get 1k. The ranking system is borked.

Nobody likes being hooked. It means you lost, which is frustrating. Likewise, getting looped, stunned and 0k is frustrating for killers but it's part of the game. It's called losing. Sometimes survivors lose too, by getting hooked. It's not the killers fault if you are partnered with potatoes or swf....objective is to hook.

    ah, there it is!

the typical "if you were a good killer, you wouldnt tunnel" response...

here, let me give you an answer equal to yours:

if you were a good survivor, you wouldnt go down in the first place, therefore not being tunneled off the hook.

also, you dont have to escape every game or follow the pip system!

    see the problem?

fact is: by killing one person earyl on, the killer gains a huge advantage over the survivors and his map pressure increases massively. so basically, only a bad killer would not tunnel the first person. a bad killer or an overconfident killer.

only if you kill one early on, you can literally stop further gen progression. hook one and start chasing another. now you have 1 one the hook, 1 in a chase, 1 being alruistic and 1 dead -> no generator progression. without tunneling the first guy you will have 1 on the hook, 1 in a chase, 1 being altruistic and 1 on a generator -> a steady gen progression.

so yeah, theoretically tunneling killers are doing nothing but playing the game optimal.

You can't win this argument. There are 3 situations in life when people throw reason and logic out the window (for good or bad) and will stick to their beliefs regardless of any facts or sensibility:

    Religion.

    Love.

    Survivors with camping/tunneling.

Camping is what ANYONE normally calls it because that's what it is. The only difference is on DBD it's not punishable, and has no way to prevent it from happening. Every other PVP game I can think of that exists has some form to prevent it. League of Legends? The fountain, any shooter game? You spawn in different locations, etc etc. It's not subjective when there are so many examples of games that have changed their rules to prevent it from happening over the years to where now it's a given that there's some mechanic to prevent it. You can call it "guarding the hook", but what you're saying is that you enjoy preventing another person from playing the game once you hook them one time. That is why I call people who do it a pos. It's also not counterable in the game as you say. The best chance you have is BT, but even that can be prevented with the right killers, and if you're the one on the hook, it requires a survivor running that perk to prevent something that anyone can do without a perk. It being allowed has no bearing on the fact that it's griefing, plain and simple. Also, while again, I'm not rank 1, even a rank 1 survivor will go down and dies to 3 hooks. If they're camped then they only get 1 unless their killer is a potato or they have borrowed time and it's an M1 killer without instadowns. But wouldn't you say it's kind of hard to get better if the killer won't chase you and they're sitting there staring at their one trophy?

none of those games are THIS game. It IS subjective because:

should killers allow free unhooks? What constitutes camping? How is it counterproductive when 75% of survivors have free reign of the map? How is it uncounterable when many survivors are able to avoid the hook completely?

Being camped might be frustrating for the camped person but it allows the other 4/5 to run the map and play as desired.

as for getting better: this game has a solid learning curve. Everyone sucks when they start. If you find yourself getting camped, it means you are getting caught. I promise that the more some one plays, the better they get. Pretty soon it will be your te am mate getting caught and camped and YOU will have free reign of the map.but

in the end, this is a pvp game. Some tapestries frustrate he oppenent but it isn't a player's job to make.the opponent happy. The objective is to win.

  • Yeah a killer taunt would be pretty cool actually

  • So punish killers for not allowing survivors to unhook?

    Sounds legit...

Camping is not just a negative term the community created for a playstyle that is frustrating for the opposing faction. Camping is a negative/unfair strategy that has existed across almost every PVP game in existence that no one enjoys. That's why most good games generally create some form of barrier to prevent it. This is the only one I've ever played that encouraged it. There is no counter for the person being camped, and no one can prevent getting hooked 100% of the time as a survivor. The fact that there is debate is only because a bunch of people who enjoy being ######### to that one person are being encouraged by a game to do what they would do on any other game. I generally pip up as survivor. I'm obviously not rank 1, but these types of playstyles are discouraged in EVERY other game where it would normally be able to be done for a very important reason.

Lol the simple fact that I enjoy camping as a killer and you don't further supports the subjectivity of the term "camping".

I also don't like gen rushing, but it doesn't break ToS nor is it considered "cheating" or "unfair" by the creators and moderators of this game.

Like it or not, "camping" is a subjective term. You call it "camping". I call it "guarding the hook".

Also: the fact that you call someone an "#########" for playing the game a certain way even FURTHER supports that these are subjective terms. Camping, gen rushing and tunneling are well within the boundaries of fair play. You sound frustrated with campers. Which I will agree can be frustrating, but is very much allowed (and VERY much counterable in game).

In fairness, I am frustrated with SWF using voicecoms, which is not a parameter in which the game was designed, yet, as frustrating as it is, I deal with it. I think it needs balance but I can't complain about it. If I were a survivor, I would NEVER solo surv. It's pointless, especially at high ranks.

Just group up or get better at avoiding the hook. This game has a learning curve.

Lol that makes no sense. You'd have no idea how Jason's powers would work. Your comment is straight up ignorant.

He would have to have some sort of teleport (like Freddy's). It's so iconic....BUT, if they were forced to use the reboot license, or worse, the FvJ license (ick!), who knows what his power could be...and to be honest, if it were those licenses, would anyone even buy it!?

But the original 10....he magically appears in front of victims all the time! I would love to see that ability manifested in this game. I actually believe that this game could do a better job of making Jason fun and unique the the F13th game that is already out.

(PS: I am talking about he one available on PS4 and PC...NOT the Nintendo game...which was also awesome but ridiculously hard...unless you had Game Genie).

  • It's wasted at high ranks. SWF will pop it really quick (and you will only face SWF at high ranks). You will get one down if you are lucky. Any more than that you aren't facing SWF and if you are high rank facing solo survivors, you shouldn't have gotten this far into game.

At lower ranks, it does ok! I build my doc around it. Sometimes it's great. Sometimes it blows. It's a gamble, like all perks.

  • "Gen Rushing", "Camping", "Tunneling" are all non-issues.

These are negative terms the community created for playstyles that are frustrating for the opposing faction.

The fact that there is so much debate on these subjects only supports their subjectivity.

    Gen rushing is fine.

    So is camping.

If you don't like it, get better at tracking or surviving. (or balance the game for swf, developers!). Either way, if you get a little bit butthurt in game, PLEASE keep coming to the forums to post your frustration; it's a VERY fun read!!!!

  • Not only will I camp the survivor on the hook, but I will ALSO camp the dropped item.

    For the whole match.

  • You like the FvJ Jason? For real? What do you like about him?

His design (IMO) was awful. Wasn't he the one with the long hair too? Or maybe that was Jason Goes to Hell... His movements were so gangly and awkward too...he didn't have the rage that they had spent the prior 10 releases building.

Either way, you might be the only one in the world, past present or future, that actually likes that one!!! Whoa!!! But for real, what is it that you like about that one? (genuinely asking, not trying to argue any version of jason is inherently better by any means...it's still jason)

I know how long it’s takes to “git gud” with her, it isn’t an excuse for her add ons being op. I typically played without add ons and could still do really well, my main time I lost was on corn maps.

Yes, this is what I mean. She is VERY good with just base kit. I feel her add-ons should change play style somehow to give more options. As of now, most of her add-ons suck...or are WAY op.

The add-ons need a rework but it has nothing to do with her or her powers. Her learning curve balances out how good she is when well played. I new hands, she really sucks. She's the perfect skill based killer. Am not not even sure how I would adjust her add-ons to make add-ons viable.

Personal experience: Without the community members I met on the game when I started playing in 2016… I wouldn't be here today. These people helped me out and took the time to teach me tricks and tactics, they made my first moments on the game a positive experience, making me come back and making me more resilient to toxicity, because I've seen that people could also be nice and inviting.

I truly think that offering help, tips or a positive end game chat is the best way for a passionate community member to impact the future of this game.

Positivity drives more positivity and invites more members to our community, these new members all bring their brand new views on our favorite game. Maybe they can remind us that we are here because we love this game.

Reinforcing good behaviour is our CM team's goal this year. This community can do such great thing when they come together. Let's not forget that.

I don't believe the current ranking system or post game chat are consistent with your CM teams goal.

But maybe that's a different department.

  • There's rules for forum endgame!?

  • The forums are the real toxic end game anyway.

  • Survivors are so quick to hate on nurse but they don't realize the amount of time it takes to actually get good with her.

With such terrible add-ons (except for.one), she relies heavily on player skill. When you layer in perks and even mind games at high levels, she is one.of the hardest to master.

When survivors are outplayed by a nurse they have genuinely been outplayed due to killer skill.

Now....I am waiting for some survivor (lol, "killer main btw") to pop in and say "it took me 10 mins to learn nurse...git gud" but everyone knows the truth. Even more so on console.I

Her add-ons are bad but her base kit is amazing. She is S tier for a reason: when a noobie picks her up she is F tier.

"Break chase at strong loops" he says. What do you do when you load into a map where 80-90% of the pallets are safe if you have a brain, a god window has spawned, and there's plenty of infinites to be had with balanced landing? Oh and hey, someone spawned on your ruin.

Go on a chase longer than a minute? Lose 3 gens. "Noob killer ez".

Break the chase it took you maybe 30-40 seconds to get into, waste another 30-40 seconds finding the next chase, and then get into another chase just to repeat the exact same process?

There is a reason you only really see a handful of killers played at the red ranks. The m1 killers can't really deal with the gen rushing unless you are using crutches or hardcore camping / tunneling.

I go afk, eat something, go poop, let the dogs out....

    Everybody wins!

That is what the perk is designed to do. If the killer is not camping, unhooking the survivor would be preferable anyway.

that's just bad design. Increasing the time the hooked person is camped for only leads to more time sitting on the hook.

To be effective it requires extreme cooperation among survive w friends to cycle the time stoppages. If you're not swf, then it mean people have to come near term hook (to trigger it) which just forced the killer to stay put.

lol you're not punishing the camper, you're punishing the hooked survivor, encouraging the killer to return to the hook when he sees the timer stop and further buffing swf groups. Lol did nobody actually foresee this during the design pha se? I say let it go live. I want a other tool to tell me when survivors are near the hook

  • I hope we don't get Freddy vs Jason version of Jason. It's the worst one.

Even worse than part 5 version lol.

    And Mothra as survivor.

  • I have had occasional 4ks in swamp. I have never 4kd in Haddonfield. Literally never.

  • I actually experienced the game crashing 3x last night. Each time I sent the error report to BHVR but I have never had the game crash (freeze, then completely close and have the error report pop up).

I am pretty sure it counts as a dc because one of the matches was at the end and I lost all bloodlines and credit toward daily.

Maybe others are having this issue too.

  • @darktrix said:

I always wonder what effect that removing the noise indicator when someone gets unhooked would do for curbing some tunneling.

The only reason for having a noise indicator is to encourage the killer to drop what they are doing and come back to the hook after a save.

Unless I'm in a chase, I return to the sound. And why wouldn't I? It means i know exactly where at least two survivors are and one of them is injured.

Folks can call it "tunneling" if they want but it's just playing smart. "Tunneling" isn't a real thing....It's a term the community created to negatively describe chasing survivors. You can't objectively define it or differentiate it from how a killer chases normally in a match. If you are a killer, you are chasing. If you are a survivor, you are being tunneled.

If you take the sound away, it might eliminate some of this community created term "tunneling" but it's really just crippling one of best tools for locating survivors a killer has.

I'm happy with how the game became more balanced for both sides (even if it took them years to do so) so that both sides stand a chance to win, but I think the more and more issues in this game aren't addressed the more difficult it becomes to eventually balance it fairly for both sides. I'm also happy about the fact that they are trying to address the issues, I just hope they are addressing the proper issues first. Obviously you know what irks me in my rant but I'll touch up on things I didn't mention in the rant here.

Maps in my opinion need a good looking at as well, certain maps can destroy certain killers but some maps can completely go in a killers favour, and some maps can be littered with safe pallets and some can be littered with unsafe pallets. I think that there should be more consistency with maps so that it can be more balanced for both sides.

I'm still thinking of ideas on how to make this game more fair/fun for both sides while also trying to be realistic about it rather than just throwing out a bad idea that won't go anywhere, but like I said it is becoming a more difficult thing to do as the game progresses and more perks/maps/addons/offerings/killers/survivors get added, a lot of variables to consider.

Yeah you bring up points I think a lot of long time players share.

This game is fairly balanced...Until you get to elite levels. The best swf group will ALWAYS win against the best killer (despite the map). And that is not balanced.

There are areas where this game shows its inadequacies but overall the good outweighs the bad.

Have you ever played a game where you felt more like Michael Myers or Freddy?

That doesn't make it perfect though. Just because something is done better than anything prior, doesn't mean it is great (or even good).

I will say that compared to beta, this game is MOUNDS better and keeps improving. It just takes good, insightful feedback to keep helping it improve. And because it does, pkayers(like me) keep returning.
