  • So many good ones now! With the interwebs and so many streaming platforms....I do t have time to watch them all.

IGN Up at Noon just made a list of 6 good ones and I watched DownRange.....NOT your typical scary movie!

There are so many sub-genres in horror now that it depends what I am in the mood for.

About the only thing I can't stand is the Stephen King garbage, mostly because I have likely read the original story his crap is based on and it's FAR better.

Then again, at this point, is anything really original?

I have been liking the Hulu original movies (Into the Dark) lately...about 50/50 when they are not cramming liberal media politics down my throat, they are really good!

Then there's the horror/comedy and blatant over-the-top gore...so stupid yet so intelligently done! Cooties comes to mind.

I like watching classics and the remakes, which still hold up: My Bloody Valentine and I spit on your grave

For mainstrean, I liked Midnight Meat Train (Bradley Cooper might put some folks off, but don't let it! It's good!) And Hereditary just sticks with me. The more I watch it, the more insane and creepy/awful it seems!

For series, AHS is always good and seems to always do something unexpected and I wish they would have continued Penny Dreadful.

VHS series is disturbing and so is that one about the band who plays at the Nazi/skinhead clubhouse/camp (I can't remember the name but I think it was netflix).

I really liked Hush...watched it twice.

Hunger was creepy with a "yeah right..." Ending but otherwise really good.

  • do this with doc for even more fun!

Don't see why this is a problem. However, will the perk only activate when placed? If so, wouldn't running multiple hex perks be a hindrance because you'll have to find an adequate spot to place them?

That's a good point. It seems right now one of the major factors in balancing totems is the risk in taking them (they can get found and cleansed quickly).

I don't particularly want to take time placing totems when I could be hunting survivors, but some might prefer it. Then again, I get pissed when I see one of mine out in the open.

Can't have it both ways I guess.

  • I actually do wish survivors would run in a straight line.

Or better yet: just stand still.

Can't win em all I guess...

No more ebony mori's after first hook either please. Had three Spirits do that today.

Yeah! And no more hooking period!

    just hand-holding, singing and laughter!

Those silly killers...always trying to use their weapons when they should really be using their WORDS.

Let's work together to make DBD a violence-free zone!

  • Totally agree! C'mon Killers! Let's work together and make this game more enjoyable for survivors! Stop trying to hit them and hook them all the dang time!

Can't we all just get along!?

  • I don't understand what "ships" are? Relationships?

Am I just old? Is this what the kids are calling it now?

  • Make him short and give him 3rd person pov.

It could be part of his powers....his ability to be aware of his environment (see around corners/over/under objects) like when he hides under Andy's bed!

We should have an automated system where if the servers find out if wait times are extremely long for Killer or Survivor, then 25% BP should be granted to the side affected by the wait times to promote quick matchmaking.

It should pro-rate the bonus based on differential.

Also: is this a necro? BP event wasn't going on when this started and I have ok q times normally...but once this event began...UGH. Takes AT LEAST 15 mins for a killer q. Just ridiculous.

They need to just make an AI mode already. Reduced BP and no ranks. Easy peasey.

  • No. Human nature is to label anything that is difficult as "toxic".

There would just be new ways of being "toxic".

No matter how easy/simple you make things, it will always be difficult for some people and we always have to adjust for the lowest denominator.

  • If survivors will farm with you, BBQ is great! They will let you cycle the hooks and you'll get full bonus. Great for the double bp events....

...well....if you can actually get into game!

    Killer queues....

  • Tried 3 times tonight and waited in killer lobby for over 15 mins each time before saying screw it, I'll go play WoW classic.

Combined with the recent frequent crashing, I am reminded why I haven't spent money on this game in well over a year.

I dislike farming, so here is my explanation: It's super boring. I'm playing a game because I literally want to play a game. I don't want to "play" an repair-and-unhook simulator.

Does it happen often enough that you hate it? (Genuinely asking)

I play killer mostly and only farm during these type of events after daily is complete. I don't typically farm during normal game mode so was curious what the beef was. Do you run into farmers a lot during a typical game?

  • I just want to know what your issue with farming is?

    Do you hate easy bloodpoints?

You hate low stress, easy matches where the killer allows you to gain bloodpoints?

I just can't see why anyone would complain about this...

  • Not sure what world you live in, but yes, it is, and then people get sued for it.

Regardless of someone disconnecting or not .

It's against The Game Rules .

It's no Excuse to Farm and get easy points . And everyone should be punished in the game if they don't resume normally !

Lol yet everyone wins And all players get "easy points", regardless of role. And how can you enforce this "rule" ?

The VAST majority of players I have farmed with have thanked me post game...so...

so when everyone is on board, it actually benefits the entire group (killer and survivor). And nobody complains.

  • I have been crashing quite a bit lately, usually later game after a game or two. Its frustrating as hell because I have never had this game crash (playing since early access off and on). It has just been since just prior to the new dlc (so I don't think it is the DLC).

I freeze, then the game crashes.

Very frustrating, especially if I am doing well in game.

Edit: I have been sending the error reports as well after crash since this is a new issue for me.

  • Then when they call me "baby killer" post game I won't have to get mad because it's true.

  • Do you have hair or fur?

Do you have claws or nails (or talons)?

Do you have feet or paws?

    Are you talk or speak?

  • Sometimes when 2 survivors dc, it can be fun to farm. Also during certain events, it's great and everybody wins.

killers and survivors can play How they want. If he wanted to farm, you could have taken advantage of the free bps and pips. Or you could dc. Or you could just take advantage of the free gens and escap e.

sort of a no brainer easy game for you...

I would play AI. I would love it if there was a casual league. I’m not super competitive so I feel I don’t fit it with other red rank players. I’m not good enough for red ranks so I know I disappoint them. I’ve gotten some not so nice messages saying things like how did you ever get to red ranks, learn the game, etc.

yeah it's bad. Those people should know that it just takes time, not skill, to get to red ranks. I would play in an AI/casual/unranked league in a heartbeat too. I hate ranking up.

I also know that there are some serious players out there that would appreciate rewards for their skill. COsmetics, profile pic rewards, etc. Diablo does it...pretty much every other pvp game out there does is...c'mon DBD!

  • How about "Plagiarism" , you know, since Stephen king steals all his material from other, better, authors, dumbs it down and gives them no credit.I

  • @Frosty said:

Said it before and I'll say it again.

This game needs a werewolf. There are a lot of creative liberties that could be taken and some very cool powers and perks, based around tracking and hunting survivors that they could create.

Maybe even have it so survivors can find silver bullets or daggers to try and counter attack to bring him/her out of beast mode. Just spit Ballin here

Yeah some sort of beast type....their art team would probably do a really good job. Red eyes, dark fur....

With the lunge and bleed mechanics, I don't know why they havent yet...

  • It's a pvp game. There will always be a meta and "sweaty" games. This is a flaw with the dbd ranking system (or lack thereof) not with the playerbase.

There needs to be rewards for ranks and longer seasons, and a separate league for "practice" and "casuals".

They should.mimick the HotS competitive league and "AI" league. (Not saying that should be an AI mode specifically, but I would play it!). The real rewards should be in the seasonal rankings.

  • Funny...mine always seem to spawn across the map from each other.

  • I cycle through them all depending on how I feel.

    And the dailies.

  • Lol based on this thread, pretty much anyone is a good choice (except legion and ghost face lol).

Nobody complains about spirit perks. Nobody complains about pgtw either. Enduring is almost always useful.

I say go for the one that is most fun for you. Worst case scenario is you unlock a useful perk or two.

You have far more games where NOED is winning a losing game for a killer than a game where 3 survivors are getting revived with adrenaline because the 4th finished the last gen.

Like, its not even comparable at all those two situations.

So NOED is the busted perk that needs to get removed or nerfed hard.

You've clearly never played as killer with noed.

If you did you would know how often it gets popped. In high end, it's best used in a 3 gen strategy for the last 1-2 downs. Any more downs than that and it's survivor fault.I

It definitely does not "reward failure". If anything, it punishes survivor ego.

I havent been able to spend nearly as much time as id like to online, between work and watching a very fussy 5 month old. Also, your right about rank... It doesnt mean everything. Just got done with a game where the best ranked survivor completely screwed over their team by camping all the best pallets on the map on the first chase. Every chase after that ended SUPER fast.

I just becomes irrelevant after a while, especially as casually as I play. And frustrating. At least in other PvP games you can choose your level...ranked or casual (or some variation). I wish they would add rank rewards and a separate league (non ranked) for more casual players.

I keep hearing how killers would rather de pip than being a high rank. hmm

I would. No rewards for playing against elite/hardcore players. There is absolutely NO incentive to rank up in this game. \

Facts for both killer and survivor I hate being red ranks. It's not fun to have to play sweaty to have a chance. When in red ranks it's so much harder to enjoy the game with funny builds. And still have a chance to survive longer then 5mins.

Exactly! There is only 1 downside to playing in low ranks: sometimes as killer it is hard to signal to farm when 1-2 survivors DC. I don't think newer players always understand you want to farm when a couple DC.

Then again, if they fixed the swf issue, it probably wouldn't be a problem, but that's a discussion for another thread ha!

  • Another example of validating my point.

  • @TheDiz said:

I'm honestly shocked this map made it through PTB but then again this game is catered to SWF teams which sucks for us solo survivors and killers in general.... SWF should be a separate game mode like kill your friends where you can get bloodpoints but killer perks and add ons are more effective in my opinion.

With some.of the recent design decisions, I sometimes wonder if The developers ever play anything other than swf...

  • Sounds like 3 typical, non-toxic matches. Your friend doesn't sound like he enjoys pvp games. Maybe he should try FFXIV. I love that game.

Or maybe you didn't explain that this game has a distinct learning curve and you can't expect to jump in and win straight away? This game doesn't hold your hand and rewards skill... most new AAA titles will baby new players to victory.

My guess is that if your friend actually buys the game he will just be salty in post game chat because he lost and not understand he has to learn the game and practice to get better. It's better to stick with other games that might hold his hand a little more in this case.

  • I still run it sometimes. Idc what they say post game because my chat window is closed.

that's why the swf game mode exists, because they biitched untill they got their own way.

but don't worry the devs don't balance the game around these entitled, cry baby survivor players.............oh wait

while not always true, here are examples where you are very correct:

    @Mochan said:

Because Survivors are stressed out from playing the game and getting stomped all the time.

It's actually the exact same thing with killer.

    Case in point....and...

Some weird delusions you are having, I have a prescription of Risperdal® for you to help.

Another example of attacking the player rather than the addressing the issue.

Both sides can be ######### but when survivors are 4:1, we have a better chance of seeing ######### survivors than we do killers.

    It's a ratio.

  • Killers sometimes camp a really good survivor to get him out of the game so maybe it's a compliment.

Then again, sometimes we go for weakest/easiest hook, so maybe you have to keep practicing to get better at not being seen/targeted.

This game does have a skill curve. A lot of newer and younger players don't realize this at first. There isn't any meaningful tutorial and you'll get placed with noobs as often you get placed with experienced players, no matter the rank. You get better the more you play but most people can't expect to jump into it and do well.

I do just fine with my Freddy at any rank, thank you very much. I encourage people to try looping me and see what happens.

you must be the exception. I wish someone would post Just ONE video of a top ranked killer going against a top ranked swf group where the killer wins.

ANyway, it's a pvp game so there will always be those that can commit time and energy to excel (and they deserve it), but even playing casuall y, I can hit red ranks and be paired with people that spend HOURS a day in this game.

I am casual. How on earth am I set up against 4 red ranks....oh yeah...rank means nothing in this game.

a new player spends 2 hours and he will be ranked with purples. Lol what?

For casuals, best advice is to depip.

  • When I run a mori against swf, here is what I see:

    =/=, =/=, =/=

Then some poor solo survivor is left to fart around with me.

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/705306#Comment_705306

Or I can hit rank 1 and just kill the "toxic" ppl...

Ahh but you wont. You'll be looped and pallet dropped and run in circles against swf.

Solo survivors are rare at that rank. Top killers can beat solo survivors. Top killers can't beat top swf.

For casual players, ranking up is punishment. Best to stay in the lowbie ranks where the game is still about having fun.

  • Just don't worry about pipping. It literally means you will be going against more toxic people who will troll you and call you names post game.

    Stay low ranked. Have fun!

  • Yeah, they need to exp!ain the daily system. I was out of town for four days and when I got back, I had 3 dailys...did one....another appeared....did.another....another appeared....did ANOTHER and ANOTHER appeared. I did those and am now down to 1.

I am guessing tomorrow another will appear.

I am not complaining....It's great. I just wish I understood it.

  • Why are you trying to rank up as killer?

  • Sometimes it works well, sometimes it doesnt.

It is very sad how often it works well (usually lower ranks).

When I see a killer standing by the hook, I usually know I have free reign of the map and go fast around on gens.

Some players can't see beyond the hooked survivor.

  • The best played killer will never win against the best played survivor group. This is the way the game is balanced so as killer:

If you got massacred, you were just outplayed

If it was a good, close/long game and you ended up losing, you were probably evenly matched.

If you beat them but it was close, you outplayed them.

If you destroyed them, they were probably nowhere near your level and likely potatoes.

  • Because they are fun

    Or for daily

Or if I am trying to burn high end offerings before I prestige a killer.

  • Yeah I too am hoping for a more Halloween themed event.

I didn't care for hallowed blight....it seemed like it fit better in the spring and the costumes had no connection Halloween at all.

Also, last year was a perfect time for a MM tie in....

I just hope we don't get more hallowed blight. I love Halloween in game events (DCUO has a great one) and will spend my time (and money) in those other ones if it's hallowed blight again.

  • @ABannedCat said:

Why do people always ask for honour codes, or rules, or guidelines for killer, but no one ever asks that for survivors?

Why ask for "honor codes" in a pvp game?

I f it's not cheating or hacking, how in the world is it "toxic" (aside from the kids in post game chat)?f

I camp when I want to camp and tunnel when it makes sense. I run moris when I want and noed when it makes sense. If a survivor gets all sweaty about it, it sounds like they have a more personal problem and may want to consider co-op games instead of pvp.

or perhaps those people are just used to handouts and participation trophies.

  • I haven't been playing because I am out of town, so....

    You're welcome I guess.

other than that, I use the tools the game gives me, unfortunately, what I consider "competitive pvp", survivors consider "toxic"

  • I do not believe this is an actual "law".

If it is, someone should link it and put it to rest.

It maybe a a regulation by the ratings board or something like that.

Holy crapan, you should really try reading the whole thing before posting. I actually mention teleporting. At no point am I insulting anyone. I have seen every Friday the 13th movie, and have seen nothing viable in them that brings anything new to the game. (As mentioned above, hypnotizing survivors is not viable.)

I also say that IMO (again, my opinion) Jason is a bad fit for DbD. At the essence of his character is a big, strong dude that can't be killed. No DbD killer can be killed in game. We already have several teleporting killers, and Jason would have no special form of attack. At best, he'd have a mori like Shape.

Done with this thread. My response will not change. Jason would be boring for DbD.

At some.point, killer powers will have to be variations of existing powers within the confines of this game. His teleportation could work similar to freddy's...more.object based (vs nurses).

He might be boring for you, but then I think ghost face and demo gorgon are boring (and didn't buy). I would but Jason in a heart beat.

I am very certain a Jason dlc would sell, but at this point it seems like license and costs outweigh the money it may generate. I would bet my hat that is the main reason he isn't here already.

  • You could just upload the vids and take the punishment...
