@BACKSTABBER @Bug_Reporter @EntityDispleased @Rebel_Raven @redsopine1 @ShrimpTwiggs @thrashed2pieces @Greater_Cultist @twistedmonkey @MuttonChops @Peasant @ProximityOfToxicity @Nick @Utna @DarkWo1f997I have read with pleasure all your constructive answers regarding the definition of "toxicity", therefore I suggest to move on to the analysis of its possible causes and the appropriate remedies.
In my opinion, several factors are involved in "toxicity", from the mildest to the most serious:
1) poor knowledge of game mechanics;
2) immaturity due to age or character;
3) irritation for unfortunate events (for example: being the first survivor chased and hooked by the killer or losing precious minutes in a long and unsuccessful chase);
4) anger for the defeat suffered, with possible loss of valuable items, add-ons or offerings;
5) intolerance to game dynamics considered unbalanced or buggy;
6) rebellion against the opponent's unsportsmanlike behavior;
7) frustration for the continuous repetition of the facts indicated in the previous points, by pure chance or by personal or team demerits;
8) rudeness, incivility or personal problems poured into the game;
9) sabotage of the game or other hostile purposes against the community of players or developers;
10) criminal purposes.The ideal would be for each player to commit himself to the correctness and respect of others, but it is purely utopian to imagine that all are good and honest by mere bond of conscience. The practical solution that I suggest is a global rethink of the system of reporting wrong conduct, imposing something more than just pressing a key: the player must attach a brief description of the fact complained, so that the managers of the game can:
A) understand if the report is founded or not (for example: the accusation of camping or blinding during the break of a pallet is unfounded, because they belong to the tactics of play and are consistent with the purpose of the role);
to compare similar reports and to understand if the accused player is habitually or only occasionally incorrect;
C) make the necessary checks;
D) to hear the reasons of the accused player;
E) adopt appropriate sanctions.On the other hand, to those who suffer these disrespectful behaviors I ask to be reasonably patient, in order not to flood the managers of the game with a million reports.
The same goes for the "toxicity" in the forum, of course.
You know, it's not very often that I see someone take a fair and analytical view on this subject without resorting to 'well killers / survivors do this so....." Both sides have degree's of toxicity we all know this, even if we just want to root for our side and occasionally are biased, but both sides have generated so much animosity for each other that it's just become a s**t slinging circle that never ends. A huge problem is that both sides have both valid and utterly invalid points when it comes to what they believe toxicity actually is, and when it comes to the forums, a lot of the time both sides are way too invested in one upmanship over the other side to actually sit and talk like adults instead of the constant dragging down into cheap insults.
I've seen forum members i once respected suddenly turn to insults, trying to outlaw what they deem 'non experienced players' from giving their points of view and even employing well known troublemakers to stand as guard dog over their posts to viciously insult anyone who does not agree with their point of view, which makes me a little sad.
So for this thread and your handling of the subject matter, and being willing to listen to all points of view in a mature and calm way....i salute you.
I won't go over what i consider toxic as i think others have underlined that already and I like the idea of actually moving on to realistic solutions.
I have never liked the idea of one button press encompassing a whole host of things, it gives those angered over a simple loss way too much leeway to waste devs time. Allow people to be more specific so that the people looking at these reports can weed out the complete wastes of time thrown in by people who are simply sore that they have lost. I get it, we are never all going to be the bestest of friends, the game itself doesn't exactly breed harmony, but until we can start being adults about it, why should they listen to us?
I would fully support the OP's suggestions if the chance ever came up of it possibly being implemented, I can't see anything wrong with those ideas, it would weed out the time wasting and false reports as well as allowing us to give a more detailed account of actual legitimate complaints rather than simply trying to find a vague connection to one of the limited choices when unique situations arise.

Thank you, everyone, for your responses and like I said before I was only trying to get more insight from others so not sure what the first reply was all about didn't make sense to me. Thank you all, I will play around with some of the perks what you have all mentioned and see which suites me best. Thanks again at the moment am really enjoying this game.Don't worry about the first reply, i suspect they were trying to reply to another thread that's come up recently and missclicked, I've almost done that myself. Either that or they are having a conversation with themselves. Either way, welcome to the game!

Hahahah.Well... I'd like a chainsaw... but we don't always get what we want.
And, besides, how is a Hag going to perform a complicated operation like fixing on a reverse bear trap in 2 seconds with those freakishly long fingers?She'd probably just hang it from a tree and wait for a survivor to run into it face first :chuffed:
-
Sorry but i adore piggy and her mechanics, because no other killer aside from Myers actually makes me sweat.
Doing a gen - Is she behind me, can i risk looking around while doing a skill check?
Bear trap on head - GEDDITOFF! GEDDITOFF! GEDDITOFF! Come on this is the fourth box I've visited and I'm pretty sure she's somewhere behind me giggling her ass off.
On a hook - Yay, Im being rescued....but wait, is she hiding, is she behind that wall, that rock....that blade of grass?!!!!
If a pig is having that much fun with the mechanics as i am as a survivor, more power to them.
-
I always thought it was a bit odd that they couldn't leave the gates with a fancy steel hat on yet they could do so with the hatch. I personally don't have anything against the idea, but then all the other killers might want fancy steel hats for the same purpose. My hag has been eyeing one done up in rhinestones and mud....
-
I love how effective perks are named 'Trash', by both sides, it's honestly ridiculous. Do some perks need a bit of a rework....well yes, but nobody is trash for using the tools GIVEN. As a survivor, if i see an unlit totem I will take it down if its safe to do so at the time. Considering I stumble across at least 1, 2 or sometimes even three in a single game without searching for them, it should not be so difficult to disarm the perk if every totem was taken down the same way.
I'm usually a safe altruistic player, meaning i don't hook rush and will do my best to get you down and not get you killed seconds later, heck I'll even try and pull the killer onto me if i fudged up and they are actually closer than i thought. However if at the opening of the gates i see a healthy person insta-downed, I am out of there.
All perks are used to give an advantage to a certain situation. People cry out that it's unfair to give a 'bad' killer a chance at a free kill, i say bullpoop to that. Even without getting rid of the totems it is counter-able, you just have to be smart about it. Hide, go stealthy, don't make an immediate rush for the gates in the open if you aren't close enough, or go open the other gate if the killer is camping the open one, and don't hang around the open gate tea bagging like a baboon if you have a chance to escape.
Sometimes you'll be unlucky even when you've mostly done everything right, but as someone pointed out already, nobody is guaranteed a win in this game. On the few times i play killer i will 3k because someone gets the hatch, i shrug and i move on because again, even if i did everything right, that doesn't guarantee me a 4k.
-
If you keep feeding the troll, they will keep returning to yank on your tail because they are clearly bored and still upset that it's gotten hard to go killer bullying since the last patch. Learn to ignore the twit and they will get bored and go away.

if a killer plays doctor with ultra-rare add-ons, and rude perks i will be toxic till the end when i message GG EZ"Rude Perks" LMFAO!!
I mean I've known that some of my fellow survivors have ridiculous made up rules which apparently the killer has to adhere too, but this is comedy gold. We aren't at a bloody tea party, survivors and killers don't bow to each other at the start of the match, and there is no honour system aside from not being utter d***s to each other.
If a killer doctor with ultra rare addons and LEGITIMATE perks comes after you, accept that they earned the right to use them and don't hide behind a pathetic excuse in order to make yourself feel better for playing like a toxic brat.
"Rude Perks" Hahahaha!!

Actually @Orion has had plenty of reasons to back up his replies to you, you just choose to conveniently ignore them like you do most valid points that don't match up to your arguments. The excuses are getting old.
-
Lmao, are you guys actually engaging with this obvious, neon sign troll?
I mean come on, most of you are more intelligent than this.
-
Given what has been stated so far, I highly advise that anyone not inclined to agree with the OP, hook a lifeline and get out of this impending verbal quicksand in advance.
We've done this before, it's not an argument we're going to win, even if the majority of this player base really doesn't give a damn what the killer is wearing because we're more interested in the impending death they are about to deliver.
Since we have already been branded the villains, insensitive and not qualified to understand such complex social issues as these, i highly recommend an exercise less futile than trying to give an opposing opinion here. I respect anyone's right to stand up to an issue they believe in, but I see no point in circular arguments such as this when an opposing opinion is considered an attack right out of the gate.
-
Shrugs If you actually refuse to try and understand then I'm done here. I'm off to tame some robot dinosaurs.
-
If they march on in there like lemmings, knock em down and move on, it seems there is a new definition of camping every week and none of them mean a damn thing.
-
Sooo, the event is harder this time round Work around it, maybe the devs wanted to challenge you rather than make the same thing as before. If you aren't getting enough because you're dying....adapt.That's not a get good statement, but if other people aren't having as much trouble, perhaps adjust your playstyle, pretty sure thats what the devs intended by giving an extra objectives?
If you can't or won't pay out for the cosmetics you only really have one choice, I kinda doubt their going to change the event parameters just because you demanded it.
With effort comes the reward.

I like to keep it civil most of the time, but this is honestly ridiculous. I've heard of making mountains out of mole hills before but this is right up there with mount Everest.
This is a game, you got fooled in a GAME, and this has led you to describe a whole bunch of people who don't agree with your assessment as immoral, lacking dignity, trust, empathy and healthy minds.......who on earth do you think you are to decide such based on very limited information?
Your fixation on this event is unhealthy, and your knee jerk reaction to brand this person as sick?...well i hate to say it but its a little creepy.
Ok maybe it was a crappy thing to do, tbh i don't really identify because on the rare occasions a killer wants to farm, i'll go stand under a hook at the end and let them get their hook points. However you cannot make some pseudo psychological assessment based on an action in a video game, not one that is reliable, same as you can't make assumptions about a group of people who disagree with you based on a forum post.
I have no issues with you getting P.O'd at a killer for doing this, each to their own reactions, but your snap judgements are out of line and are based on minuscule evidence.
People don't lack the capacity to be decent just because they don't agree with you.
Nice psychological use of language

You're quite good at saying that I'm a disturbed person, without using the words.
I have no issue saying someone is disturbed if i think they are disturbed, but i don't know you well enough to know whether or not you are actually disturbed, and that is my point in a nutshell. I believe i stated that i personally found your assumptions ridiculous and your fixation on a simple act in a video game seemed (to me) a little creepy. I won't make an assumption that you are disturbed simply from a few posts, i don't know who you are in a day to day life, how you treat people or how you socially interact with strangers, and it would be ridiculous for me to try. If you inferred such an accusation from my post....well that's really your issue not mine.
Resumed you said that my assumption are wrong and crazy.
That's your opinion / conclusion and that's ok.
You point out that I'm wrong saying I lack evidence.
I think I explained why I come to my assumptions and that I don't understand why s.o. would do that.
As you are so absolutly sure that I am wrong and that ppl don't have to lack moral/integrity or some issues if they are ok with tricking others for their own advantage I assume you'll have no trouble explaining it to me.
Sure. Part of the reason people like video games is that it allows them to do something they wouldn't normally do. It isn't really rocket science to be fair. I'm pretty sure half the players in GTA multiplayer wouldn't really hit a hooker with a baseball bat or blow up a police station. What compels us to do dumb things like that in a video game is an inner immaturity that we freely exercise in order to blow off steam. . It might be distasteful to some people much as your killer's 'trick' upon you, but it isn't enough of a personal reference to label them as mentally disturbed.
Why (a reason) would s.o. decent with moral / integrity and a healthy mind, trick other ppl to their advantage
in a game?
Honest answer....they are likely bored with the game or so damn fed up with survivors trolling that they probably took it out on someone else. That doesn't make their little head games fair, but that's blowing off steam not a direct link to mental or moral interest. However i am secure enough in my own self to admit this is just a theory. And yet, once again, one chance meeting does not give you the correct amount of information to label someone as sick or lacking moral character.
Why (a reason) would s.o. decent with moral / integrity and a healthy mind, be ok with s.o. tricking other ppl to their advantage in a game?
I'd like to know you assumptions/ explanation to that.
Unfortunately you are asking me the same question wearing a different hat and thus my explanation isn't going to change much. People are not readable in the time it takes for someone to finish a game in less than an hour, and you certainly cannot tell a persons personality by a simple post. You have an opinion on the subject, other people have theirs, and as i said before, not agreeing with you is not a benchmark for lack of character or mental stability. Essentially you are profiling someone based on very little evidence, and hey i am guilty of it too, by inferring that your straight up jump to psychopath/sociopath seemed a little creepy. I admit that in that instance i was actually wrong (yep I'm even secure enough to admit i'm wrong) since the better wording should have been 'A little overzealous about a video game mind play and somewhat too eager to plant labels on people. I'll openly admit, you annoyed the hell out of me for taking it upon yourself to label people you didn't know, people who only posted their opinions, as lacking moral character. And to be honest that has not changed.
I believe I answered all your questions to the best of my abilities.

so when the men said women didnt need the right to vote did they just say yeah its irrelvant yes they did until they fought for it. when african americans wanted freedom from being slaves did they just sit down, no they fought and got thier freedom in the civil war. so if there was no black person in this game it would be weird right? yes it would. if there was no women in this game it would be weird right? yes. my arguement is that they should add a LGBTQ+ character not to check off a list but because people are requesting it.Did you.....did you just compare your demand for an LGBTQ character in a VIDEO GAME, as the same as fighting for womens rights and the end to slavery?
Dear gods.....i don't even......i really do not have words for this. At least not very polite ones. I really do hope that was just a badly worded post that was easy to misread, i really do.
-
People are allowed to disagree with you because they are allowed their opinion.
Does this mean that they are right and you are wrong...no. But every time you state that they are not entitled to an opinion because they disagree with you...well you loose a little bit of credibility. Argue your point if you must, you have a right to do that like anybody else here. But once again you do not have the right to decide if someone can post or not simply because they are debating your position.
I've seen a couple of replies here that argue against my point . Do i agree with them....no, but i respect their right to disagree with me and I'm not going to cry BULLY because someone referenced my post in one that disputes my argument.
I do not believe i am utterly and unquestionably right because my opinion doesn't match yours, perhaps the devs will disagree with me and actually give you what you want, who knows. But i and everyone else on the forum DO have the right to express their opinion.
I actually think @Wahara has some very interesting points, they have not convinced me that the game really needs a defined sexual orientation, but they have certainly given me food for thought, whereas your response so far is to lash out at the people who do not agree with you.

It is possible, but as @Tsulan say's, mostly it's just latency issues. If I'm mid action and suddenly freeze then end up on already on a hook 5 seconds later, then and only then will I cry lag switcher.

Man that's a brilliant idea! Create one unique set of cosmetics for every character who received a DC ban and force those players to wear that for a month (disable the other cosmetic items).
"Please don't hit me"
"Farm with me or I'll DC"Or just an orange jumpsuit like the kind you have to wear in jail.
Would certainly give the survivors who constantly get screwed by fellow survivor DC's a chance to skip the hell out of a lobby with one or more of them.

I really don't understand this need to have something like this defined i really don't, and before we go any further, yes i am a bisexual female, so i don't consider my view to be biased in any way shape or form. The LGBTQ society have been pushing for acceptance for a long time, its slowly been happening and gained great momentum over the years which is awesome. But guess what, with acceptance eventually comes the mundane, the normal. Aside from the hardcore objectors that scream 'Nope!' it's become a normal enough part of society that nobody cares if you are gay, bi, trans and so on.
Personally i think that is a way healthier state of mind than applying some stigma to it. As for asking for 'someone' in this games roster to be labelled as LGBTQ, i just don't agree, it is not an important piece of information and it certainly has no bearing on the game itself, especially when the characters are pretty much interchangeable with everybody being able to learn everyone else's perks.
Lastly, and I'm going to try and say this as nicely as possible because i try to be a decent person and i do not know you enough to dislike you.....You are not a mod, you do not get to decide who is and isn't allowed to reply to a post you put up on a public forum. Anybody who puts up a post in any forum has to understand that in doing so, there are going to be opposing opinions. You are asking about a subject that many people have differing views on, and people are allowed to have those views as much as you are allowed yours.
Disagreeing with you is not derailing the thread or bullying you, and if you feel that way, the simplest reaction is to flag the post that offends you, just be aware flagging is not a guarantee that the post will be removed. Being the author of a thread does not give you the right to moderate it beyond requesting it be closed if you think it has gone too far awry. A mod will decide what is and is not appropriate here, not you.

Both sides use each other like friggen verbal punching bags because they are sick of threads like these pouring oil onto the flames just to watch s**t burn.
I respect peoples rights to make a point or have an opinion, no matter their rank, what side they play or how long they have been playing. But nobody can have any kind of actual productive discussion when threads like this exist because it immediately puts people on the defensive, and given the title of this thread its clear the op is merely sore about changes they don't agree with and decided to just go ahead and spread the pain rather than....oh i don't know....learning to play a different way.

You cannot join any games because you broke the rules, a fairly simple concept you seem to be failing to grasp, as well as the fact that no, you will not be unbanned, whether you make a post about it, put it in sky writing or commission a 12 piece string orchestra to play 'Ode to the sad hacker' for the forums.
I think people would just rather assume this is a bait thread than believe these simple concepts haven't reached you yet.

The killers don't need forumites in disguise (totally wrote that hearing the transformers theme) to rally for them, they have enough people for that. Simply accept that a good majority of survivor players do not believe the sky is falling. We just adapt to what is put in front of us and move on by learning to counter act and find new strategies.
But yeah...a secret society of killers in black infiltrating the survivor ranks is waaaaay more believable than people simply adapting to a new play style.

Yes i did, and i agree. Just as i agree that its unfair for killers to loose anything over a survivor DCing. Heck survivor DC's screw me over too, especially if its more than one since its unlikely 2 of us are getting 5 gens done. I'm not disputing that it sucks utter b***s for killers too. But that doesn't negate the fact that when a killer DC's it screws over points, rank and items too.
Personally compensation is something I'm not as adamant about when punishment for DCing is the way to go, and if they did compensate for items lost then yes, killers should get more compensation for the multiple dc's they have to face, it works both ways.

But I always see survivor complaining that Dcing is unfair when the killer DCs.
Nobody thinks about the killer when they DC and infact DCIng is way more common on the survivor side, some of them even do it intentionally to deny BBQ stacks etcAnd i see plenty of killer threads about Dcing too, all of them warranted, just like this one. You assume nobody thinks about the killer, in my experience that isn't true, I've expressed that dcing on either side is not right on more than one post i believe, so have others. 1.Killer is cheat cheat cheat, I have perk DECISIVE Strike, But killer release and put repeatedly, I can't use perk DECISIVE because killer is cheat, please edit with.
2. And perk Died Hard of David King should give every one usable for add up chance survived of Survivors.
3.And perk Unbreakabled give every one because killer attack me down, but not catch us to hang, That cheat
4.Perk died hard and Unbreakabled should do it is passive for survivors every one.
5.GM should add system play, Ex. 8vs2 Survivors vs Killersm and other.
6.GM should do sneak peek give survivors is Increase.It is not a cheat it is a tactic, same as body blocking, flashlighting and looping. Is it annoying? Probably, wouldn't know since i don't use it. However just because it irritates you, does not mean it is a cheat. I play killer maybe 20% of my playtime, i prefer survivor but I wanted to see the game from the other side. I have been looped into infinity, flash light stunned multiple times in a single match, pallet stunned, body blocked while taking people to hooks and had my totems erased in less than a minute into a game. Do these things annoy the hell out of me? Yep, but they ARE tactics not cheats. Just because you have the perk, does not mean you have a guarantee that you will get to use the perk in an effective manner. If you believe that's unfair, think about how many times a killer looses one, maybe more perks when their totems are destroyed. So no, its not cheating.
No they should not. Each perk offers individual advantages. each match has 4 survivors, each of which can bring in 4 different perks, thats 16 perks to a killers 4. We as survivors are already at an advantage at that stage. So no, we should not get dead hard as free, that's an utterly ridiculous suggestion.
slugging, like dribbling....wait for it........is ALSO a tactic that is not in any way shape or form, considered a cheat. Unbreakable is another hail mary perk we survivors are allowed, you have the option to have 4 of those if you so wish, but no, survivors should not get this free.
Ummmm...no, just hell no with a cherry on top.
I'm not really bothered by point 5 and i apologise but i don't understand what you mean in point six. To sum up, none of these perks should be given freely, and if they were......well even as a survivor i would be one of those insisting that killers gained perks such as BBQ for free. Your claims seem to ask for perks that are used in situations where you are getting caught out by the killer, and i sympathise with the idea that it can be annoying, but at the same time, i really don't get the idea behind your claims of killers cheating, because they quite simply aren't. You messed up and you got caught, or perhaps one of your party messed up and you ended up as collateral. The killer is SUPPOSED to do everything in their power to prevent you from surviving, even if that means developing tactics that prevent you from using your perks.
Both sides employ tactics that the other doesn't like, but unless the game rules state that these things are cheating, you are pretty much barking up the wrong tree.
-
Nah you're good, that's just another made up rule that does not apply.
It's usually the wraith that catches me in this type of situation, and it's generally if I'm not paying attention while on a gen or run into a dead end. I don't begrudge them their head nods at that point, i fudged up.
-
It's the moonlight glittering off that smooth dome so seductively, like a moth to a flame, i just gotta slap it!

I'e suggested this before a few weeks back, pretty much the same thing. Give hooked survivors the option to face kick if their being unhooked inside the killers radius. I'e had too many games where it isn't just farming me for points, pursued survivors will run to the hook and unhook a player (I've seen this from both killer and survivor perspective) as a distraction, and again I don't blame a killer if he goes for the easy kill, though i have been noticing more and more killers punishing these farmers lately.

All I'm getting from this thread is that killers are hypocrites because none of you would turn down a free kill if I gave it to you. You are all lying right to my face, you'd gladly take the guy I sandbag. I've seen it happen many times, what difference does it make if it was on purpose or accident? Why suddenly do killers have some moral code they must uphold to protect survivors?You know what's sadder than someone asking how to communicate to a killer that they wish to intentionally screw over the rest of the players in their matches?
Watching them whine and throw their toys out of the pram when they aren't greeted by a rush of "Good on you...here's how you do it!"
I've seen plenty of killers refuse to take a kill handed to them by trash survivors. I've jumped into hiding spots to see a cowardly survivor being pursued, stop and point out my spot....only to see them get downed before the killer nods or spins at me, allowing me to escape. More than a few times I've had the same kind of coward (again being pursued) run at my hooked survivor, blatantly unhooking me as a distraction, only to watch the killer swerve away from me to catch them.
Not every killer is an angel, some of them might take that free kill, but in all my time as a survivor, the majority will punish the trash player.

I ask because 3 games in a row the killer didn't seem to care I was on their side. I ran this LF right to 2 immerse Clauds right next to him, and he still hooked me right away
You bleat out 'LIARS' to everyone here who condemns your actions when your initial post pretty much underlines that every killer does NOT in fact always take the free kill. If you don't want to play survivor properly, then i suggest you play killer, who knows, maybe you'll happen upon a benevolent survivor, willing to play scummy tactics because they either cannot play survivor properly, or simply has the mindset of a troll who delights in ruining other peoples games.
Killers who won't play your little games have their own reasons, some want a fair game, some think there is enough toxicity in the game without adding to it by teaming up with a trash survivor, some don't want to participate in what is a bannable offence, and maybe, just maybe....some derive the same pleasure from squashing a trash player under their boot as they might do when they squish a teabagging flashlighting trash talker.
Just something to think about.

I’ll take salt over dealing with hackers and cheaters any day of the damn week.On console, you get both, same as on PC.
How did so many people buy the "consoles don't have hackers and cheaters" propaganda?
I don't think its so much believing that it doesn't happen, it just appears that it doesn't seem to happen as often, or at least doesn't get reported / recorded as often as it does on pc.
Honest question since I'm genuinely interested and tragically non tech minded, is it a lot easier to cheat via pc than on console? Is that why it seems abundant on pc and not so much on console?

Spawned behind leatherface two weeks ago, like two feet away. There was an awkward few seconds where I crouched there like a bunny in the damn headlights while I could see him debating between helpless me and the rest of the map. Then i guess he took pity on me since he dashed to somewhere else on the map.
To be fair, i wouldn't have blamed him if he'd taken the free kill, especially since i froze, not knowing ######### to do since it hadn't happened before, but the fair chance was appreciated.
