Why do people defend them?
Because not everyone wants to pick apart every aspect of the other sides perks/addons/offerings. They just want to play the game.
-
I don't run it much myself because i suck at chases and do better at sneaking around, doing gen's, unhooking, totems. But i do find myself doing a last gen while a little yellow marker darts back and forth as its being chased thinking, "God I hope they have adrenaline"
On the killer side, yeah it can be frustrating, but like NOED, they enter with a perk that might not even get to proc and lasted long enough for it to activate. So no real issue with it here.

I personally don't mind. Before the change some survivors would be so stealthy and immersed even thouh hatch hadn't spawned. Making it hard to find them, most killer had to run Whispers just so they had a chance at finding the last survivor in such situations.
I personally don't like running Whispers so I had a game where a survivor hid for 10 minutes, not touching any gens just because he hated me for killing his team before even a gen got done and his plan was to force my to DC.
At least with the hatch spawning now there won't be any hostage situation like that and like Aven said, you've got the upper hand for finding the hatch first cause you're faster and have no need to hide.
I had the same thing. Killed two of their team and injured the other two. Spent 10 mins hunting them down (They hadn't 3 genned themselves) after hooking the 2nd. Eventually found them hiding in basement lockers, they hadn't even bothered healing themselves. I really hope this doesn't become the new 'stand off'

its not an investment at all when the objective is to escape, can you open doors cleansing totems ? no ok then
you spend extra time = cost, to potentially disable a broken killer perk. yea that is fair right
Your objective is to escape, yes.
Can an open gate get you off the hook while a NOED wielding killer is standing by you?

Ok let's change adrenaline so that if killer kicks generators 10 times adrenaline is disabled for every survivor. Killer would be wasting his time kicking gens not hunting anyone to potentially disable perk survivors don't even have to be using.
Except there are four survivors, every survivor bumps into at LEAST one totem in a game, usually more. At the most, you disable his perk if you each did a few seconds work away from the gens, at the least, you narrow down the location of the hex with 1-2 totems maybe left.
At the end of the day...no, you don't HAVE to cleanse totems if you don't feel its worth your time. At the very worst, they don't have NOED, but you have emblem points and BP.
Shrugs
I don't stand anywhere on the MoM front because it was never a perk that interested me in the first place due to my play style, but I'm pretty tired of hearing people complain about NOED, while in the same breath saying that Totems are a waste of time.
-
@Tzeentchling9 said:
Why are you waiting for the devs to remove something you can remove yourself?
^This
I used to get crap from fellow survivors for bothering to do totems, yet the amount of times I've helped nix NOED, pretty much means I stopped giving a fudge and carried on. Even if you don't want to do totems, you can at least memorise the dull totem locations to take it out when it does proc and you have a team member on a hook.
If NOED was garunteed from the get go, i'd be a bit miffed with it, but it has a counter.
-
This is definitely looping music
-
Its a decent counter for hex perks.
I had a ton of maps on my nea for ages, thought they were useless. Then the blood hunt came and omg, all the ruin and noed. Ran the exact item combo OP listed with small game, evened the odds considerably, stopped a lot of early game insanity and end game loss. Might not be to everyone's tastes, but personally would thoroughly recommend if you are getting a lot of ruin / noed matches.

@SoylentPixie - Something nobody complained about? How about the Ghostface buff? Nobody complained about that...until they nerfed it!
I'd have liked something to grind for, but something is certainly better than nothing so I am still happy.
100% honesty here, i am crap when it comes to understanding mechanics until I have actually played the character with the nerf / buff so i reserve my judgements on that until i play them.
-
Sighs
Can we please have one thing, just ONE thing in this game where people don't complain? I get that there are some legitimate reasons to complain and I'm not talking about those, but whining because you didn't get a cosmetic this year?...Come ON.
They didn't have to do a damn thing, they could have just stuck up some fairy lights and balloons and had done with it. Instead we got a bit more xp and a hilarious killer / fun to play against killer, not to mention a bloodhunt.
You know what, perhaps I'm wrong, maybe i shouldn't tell you what you can complain about, since fun is actually subjective, so instead i'll simply say @Peanits , @MandyTalk , @not_Queen and anyone else i didn't list.....THANK YOU.
The anniversary event so far has been a mix of pee your pants funny (nearly died when the streamers exploded out of the completed gens and actually died when the same happened on a hook) and utterly tense, because man...nothing hs raised my paranoia level quite like ghostface.
Add in the double BP's, the party streamers and gruesome Gateau's and i can confirm I'm having a blast. Nice job!

i would say just fix the totem spots tbh i play surviour mostly theres been many many games where i load in and small games go off while its loading the match and boom ruin in the open or on a side of a hill like a dam beacon lol
Totem placement should have been sorted a long time ago to be honest. Some of the spawns are actually really tricky if you don't have a map on hand, but others might as well be waving their arms and jumping up and down for all that they are visible. I've had more than one game where i have spawned literally in front of one.
-
I'll be honest, I'm one of these freaks that doesn't mind ruin because I treat totems like a second objective, though I'm quick to admit it's not the most interesting one. There has been a lot of ruin and NOED lately (and i do understand why, so not complaining that people are using them) and in response I started using small game and the occasional map. Its worked well so far.
However...
I do agree another objective would serve better to slow down the game. As pointed out, slowing down the gens just isn't going to be all that interesting, and yet I also agree that having to allocate one perk spot on a hex just so you don't get gen rushed is something that needs to be looked into. Because eventually that ruin is going to be found, and sometimes that might be less than a minute due to bad luck or a sneaky little bugger like me.
More objectives would slow down the gen rush, and will be preferable to gens that just take longer. Nipping the gen rush in the bud will give killers a better chance and free up that perk slot used for ruin. Some might disagree, but another objective is a bit of a no brainer for me, because it's clear that not everyone wants to hunt totems. I've even had people yelling in my messages about my totem hunting despite the killer having both ruin, and a NOED that didn't proc in the end game.
Shrugs
Sometimes you can't win whatever you do lol
-
The closest i come to being a bully is running small game and taking away your Hex's / NOED

Unfortunately, I think they would enjoy it if I played "baby shark" and sing along and just annoy me more. I literally scold them when they do something toxic and get hooked for it before getting them off. If one of them refuses to save another and I'm busy, I use my authority over them to guilt them into saving the other. The only way I ever punished them was in kyf where I was killer and just stomped on them. xD
I got lucky, the other team member hates the song and threatens chainsaw buggery on the culprit if they dare do it next game:D

@TreemanXD I'm like the parent of the group, which is why I pip. I clean up their messes and get zero thanks for it. And I have to make sure they behave towards each other. It's more work than being a solo or a killer sometimes. But they're entertaining..... oh god, is this what having children is going to be like?🤔
Pretty much!
If one of my guys tries healing me under the hook or trips a hag trp, they have to play through the rest of the trial while hearing the "Baby shark" song. Aversion therapy ftw!
On the subject of SWF, no it's not going to go anywhere, and if it did, we'd be back to lobby dodging while people sought to be with their friends anyway. I do recognise that there are groups that do their best to screw with killers and indeed solo survivors. I had a 3man block me in until the killer came for no other reason than s**t's and giggles.
However a good portion are a bunch of friends giggling nervously at a generator while trying to look behind them in several different directions at once. And those people shouldn't be punished simply because of the ones who can't play the game like a grown up.

I usually try to ignore them, or respond nicely. Sometimes, I'm afraid, I do let my anger get the better of me. When I ignore them, I usually get spammed with messages or party invites, as I play on Xbox. I wish you all the best in your next matches as well!
You should have the option to turn of messages from anyone not on your friends list, it was the one condition i made myself enforce when i decided to come back to the game in order to save my sanity. I don't know how it works on xbox but there probably is an option in your privacy settings.
As for this weekend, i feel your pain...from both sides. I'm certainly not saying everyone should farm, but it seems everyone wants to give the biggest "F**k you, you get nothing" to each other. There is a huge difference in game play from both sides so it isn't the normal "Well killers/survivors have to kill/survive" I have been tunnelled/camped/BM'd, Gen rushed, flash lighted and tea bagged more this weekend than in all the time I've played. It's sad, but unfortunately we cannot dictate others behaviour.
The most we can do is put the controller down for a day or so and hope sanity returns when the event is over.

I'm all for it.
I'll second that

I try flapping my arms when there is a camper.....and then watch 2-3 people come running my way anyway. I think a few streamers have confused people into thinking it means "Come get me" so i stopped using it.
-
If you aren't looking over your shoulder when you know there is a pig in game, you deserve the shank you are about to get, don't rely on hearing that roar first. I like this idea, it certainly makes up for the fact that survivors can now just skip on out of the bloody exit gates with a trap on their head!

Face huggers leaping out of random chests and lockers....oh the fun :D

Depends whether you are on console or not. But to be perfectly honest, i'm the kind of survivor that appreciates a decent killer. If someone gives a damn good game, survive or die, i take the time to send a GG.
-
Thanks, this is very well thought out. Most of it is common sense stuff, but I'm constantly surprised by how many at high ranks throw most of it out of the window.

According to forums it is only wrong when a survivor does it. Killers can be as toxic as they want and they call it a 'strategy'.
Survivors were holding the game hostage for as long as they liked, up to 20 minutes or more. You have to wait 4 minutes. That's a big difference. It isn't holding the game hostage because you are guaranteed to die in 4 minutes if nobody picks you up, or even sooner if the EGC has been activated.
It does suck to be slugged, I very much agree there. But it is NOT holding the game hostage.
Edit: I'd just like to add. When i get slugged, if they are just going to stand there and watch me, I don't stay still, i go for a crawl. More than once, when they weren't paying attention, I've found hatch. And quite a few times they were worried enough about me crawling far enough to find the hatch, that they hooked me. You don't have to just lay there.
-
I love this map as both survivor and killer. Nea gets to pretend she's grass, or a log, and the Hag gets to be a wee bit more sneaky with her traps.
@WildDovami is correct however, be very careful about letting yourself get trapped in the 3 gen situation.
-
I stand by my Nea, first survivor I played and thus levelled up, I'm just so used to her now that everyone else feels janky and weird. Admittedly, she does have a face like a slapped a*s and always lookslike shes about to take sides with the killer.
Hag for killer, first one i was able to get a proper handle on, just fun to play in general, gotta love those loop traps and pallet fake outs.
-
I prefer not to punish people, whats the point? Rather not be part of a viscous cycle no matter how many people are willing to.

It's a matter of practice: without addons first, then one at a time, then mixing them up and finding your optimal setup.
No skill? That a steaming pile of bullpoop right there. I do intend to practice with Billy at some point, and in that time, the tree's, fences, walls and cars shall bear the marks of my frustration and ineptitude.
-
Literally as i read this, i popped into a lobby with 2 other Nea's.
Oh i hope it's a bubba....

Hillbilly was always my least fav Killer design and mechanic wise, so I never really played him...finally leveled him up for unlocking his teachables and decided to give him a spin.....my Gods it felt atrocious trying to control his Chainsaw.

Honestly, though I love the Silent Hill games (1-4) I just don't see Pyramid head working as a killer here. They would have to speed him up by an awful lot just to make him as viable as the slowest killers considering he was never a speedy fella in the games, and that would just make him loose a lot of his character. The slow but steady inevitability of Pyramid head was what made him so scary. However, i do concede that this is just my own opinion and many others might not be too bothered about it.
A Silent Hill map would be freaking awesome and if I had to pick a survivor, I'm right there with @Cursed_hatchet , it's gotta be James.
But then there is the licencing and the fact that Silent Hill is a bit of a sore spot between Konami and Hideo Kojima after the Silent Hills debacle. I have to imagine that if they had full leeway with the game, they would have had it on the shelves by now, considering all the hype the demo created. Getting a licensed killer like Pyramid head might be somewhat difficult.
And again on a personal note, not sure how comfortable i'd be seeing him running around a map.
-
I used to hate NOED, but you get two chances to take it down. Either cleanse all dull totems or find it when it procs. The situation isn't always going to allow for you to do that but at least you get more than one chance of completely negating a killers perk.
-
Honestly i think the hatch is just fine as it is. Both sides have a fair go and the old standoff routine is gone thank god. I hated the stand off so much that if i found them sitting on the hatch i'd have them follow me far enough from it so they knew i wasn't pulling a fast one, and let them just kill me, because sod a 20 minute game of playing who will give in first.
I get that it can be frustrating to do all that work and end up desperately trying to get a gate open, especially if they end up close together, but I honestly believe that this was the fairest they could make it for both sides. You have as much chance as the killer does to spot the hatch early in the game, and you both have a a chance of hunting it down if you don't.
-
Rank 5 to 7 map with Hag and every single one of my teamates are still running around the map like blue arsed flies, 2 DC'd the other tried to hatch camp. Shame the Hag already knew where the hatch was ;)

True but unfortunately not only this one. Sometimes I wonder why are most people like this and why can't they be nice? They even put toxic in their name like it is some kind of medal.
The safety of anonymity and distance from repercussions and likely because it gives them a sense of power they might not otherwise have. It's the cause of many under the bridge dwellers that have populated the internet for years.
They feel safe to essentially exercise the 'darker' side of their nature, otherwise known as 'Being the jerk you don't dare to be in real life because someone might actually smack you down"
-
With urban evasion i can cover ground quickly and lessen my chance of being seen in the killers terror radius. It's also saved my ass a fair few times when sprinting away from the killer and dropping down out of sight, they loose my scratch marks if i'm lucky enough to choose the right direction on the fly. Some people are better at looping, some are just better at shaking the killer off their trail
Honestly i think it's an each to your own playstyle type of things. I get a lot of hook saves and manage to navigate my way around gens with a combo of running and urban evasion, so I don't feel it wastes time.
I've seen too many people running full tilt to a hooked survivor, only to go down two feet away from them.

@Fizz said:
I don't want to come across badly however I have this feeling that killer mains (which I'd like to consider myself) give too much thought to how the survivors feel. I by no means saying we should tunnel someone out of the game just because or that we should camp but if we are being honest with ourselves how many survivors stop and think about how we feel when they do certain actions within a game or run certain perks in a game.
I mean for instance how many survivors will disconnect to give a friend the hatch or how many survivors will disconnect to save an item when they've been beaten or just disconnect because they've been caught. While I think it's great we give some consideration to not ruining the fun of others because we can I do feel like we also need to stop caring about the feelings of survivors as from my personal experience they don't stop to consider ours.
I say this in relation to the whole tunnelling thing. Sometimes it just makes sense and yes even when it's the right move we will get crap for it. We just need to play the way that is most efficient for us in terms of what we all personally want out of the game. I apologise if people see this as a rant or as a negative post or even a swing at survivors, it's honestly not intended to be. It's just playing game after game of survivors doing whatever they want and feeling justified because their role is to survive. We should be allowed and not given crap for doing our role which sometimes means tunnelling and yes, sometimes even camping.
You worded it it with a lot more care and respect than most. As someone who plays both sides I can't really argue. But some of us do try if its even a tiny consolation.

Are you a freaking "psychologist" now????
I came here to talk about connection not to be mentally evaluated.... DUUUH!
It's not psychology dear, it's a simple reminder of common decency and a somewhat gentler than some reminder that you don't get to decide who gets to play a game based on how much they can afford to spend on their internet, Just as you do not get to dictate what somebody writes on a public forum.
And "Duh?" Maybe i was a little optimistic on the whole "Over 18" deal
You want on topic? Fine. The devs will not stop people playing based on their internet. You can scream, shout and insult all you like. It won't change anything. Your choices are to literally deal with it or play something else, or hope dedicated servers solves the issue. End of story really.

The self entitlement + contradiction of your own self = The most hilarious thing i have read all day.
I'm not going to argue if you are right or wrong because pretty much everyone here has done so themselves. What i will say is...nobody cares. If you want to rant on a public forum, people are going to have opposing opinions, If you can't handle that then quite frankly, you need to grow up. Because if you cannot understand that everyone's situation is different, then why the heck should anyone listen to anything you have to say.
We all deal with lag, but it's rare that anybody storms onto the forums and throws all their toys out of the stroller because people can't/don't have the internet that meets your requirements.
Now, i have to assume that you are at least over 18 given the games certification, though his is debatable given your current actions. However it seems that somebody has forgotten to impart one of life's very important lessons. Stamping your feet stops working around about the time you learn to tie your own shoe laces. If you want people to listen to you, act like you have a single OUNCE of respect or compassion for other people, otherwise prepare yourself for pretty much more of the same as what you have gotten here.
Downvote if you will, someone already got there before you though. I named my first one George :)
