lots of names, so i'll just say @everyone no matter how much trolling and ragebaiting went on. it was a lovely time here with you maniacs and i had some really insightful discussions.
my discord is skittlesthehusky if anyone wants to reach me there. i'm also hosting an unofficial platform for the forums (https://fog-dwellers.com/) if anyone wants to keep in touch there as well

Honestly I'm way more open to using this in comparison to the other suggested platforms. Thank you for setting it up.
of course! i'd rather the community still have a place to go. i'm still doing a little bit of setup but everything is open for registration and usable atm.
i'm looking into a more user-friendly theme for the board. if anyone has suggestions feel free to pitch it on there or the discord o7 -
oh ty for the shout! haha
its a shame the forums are going. hopefully this ends up being a good home for people 🎉❤

i appreciate you all, lots of really interesting discussions have been had over the years
since the official forums are going, im announcing ive been quietly working on a community-led and curated unofficial version of them for those who still want to have long-form discussions or can't use the main platforms. (not endorsed by BHVR, im just doing it for the people and the love of DBD)
its old-school, but this is specifically targeting the group of those who want to engage in long-form and thorough discussions, or are passionate about DBD like me.
if anyone wants to register or contribute, ill be happy to give people a place to go if anyone wants to join this group. just shoot me a message on any of the official platforms or discord o7 same user everywhere
long live the OG forums!
edit: including the link because i dont think it matters at this point: (again, not affiliated)

kicking would be nice, but i don't think that addresses the core problem of why people are even AFK anyway.
the queues times are abysmally long for killer, so it's not surprising that the person is often stepped away because they're expecting the wait time to be over half an hour on average. queue times alone are part of why i never play 2v8 personally. PWYW only partially addresses this because it's optional. you can still go through 1 or two survivor matches and you're still likely to get an AFK teammate because they chose to wait out the queue.
2v8 shouldn't have as long of queue times as it does for the type of game mode that it is. i genuinely don't understand why matching up takes so long when you have tens of dozens of players on both sides queued up and there's no MMR. sure, you're excluding duplicate killers, excessive duplicate skills, and trying to find the right server for everyone. but if the game mode is as large as its made out to be with PWYW being included as a solution, surely you should be able to find a match sooner and avoid the frequency of people being away, yes?

@Mandy @ThatRyanB
i want to again bring attention to the issue that even after it was made clear that there's no announcement regarding an engine update during this testing phase, there is still yet to be one and we are 24 hours into the statement being made in a thread that got quickly buried. people are still not aware.
please globally inform the playerbase and do not leave this as an individual response. you are creating an excessive amount of confusion and we cannot properly troubleshoot our issues nor create accurate bug reports because of two major things being tested at the same time. -
with all intents and purposes, i don't mean to be inflammatory when i say that it feels like this post was written by ai, but i don't trust that this post was made in good faith either. however, for the sake of discussion i'll say my piece.
the notion that judgement is going to be nerfed feels a little too unjust for what the character is actually designed to do. judgement's whole kit is designed around applying pressure by threatening and forcing the survivor to take risks. this continues to be the case even with the recent adjustments to their non-exile mechanics. a small increase in being able to curve the power to increase the threat potential is not going to suddenly make them extremely overpowered because you are not intended to hit everything all the time.
furthermore, removing aura reading is not going to gut the killer because you still have access to killer instinct, HUD information, and information given to you based on what's going on in the map (crows, sounds, blood and scratch marks). any killer worth their salt should be able to adapt and predict what a survivor may do, or where they may be, if they're paying attention. the over-reliance on aura reading ends up being a crutch for actual game sense, which is not too difficult to develop if you take the time to learn and think about why you or another player might do something.

While I totally hear you on these things being frustrating, I did want to jump in to clarify that the stability concerns being attributed to Denuvo are not connected to the Anti-Cheat Trial. This release cycle included an engine update, which we now know has led to the increase in issues (like crashing) you're referring to.
While the bugfix patch this week helped alleviate some of these issues, there's still more to do, which the team is hard at work on. For the input delay specifically, this appears to be a case of a GPU driver reacting unexpectedly to the engine update. If you're running into this, updating to the newest GPU drivers can help.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/472182/when-is-this-going-to-end
To add to what MashedBroccoli mentioned above, the reason we are not currently sharing the end date of the test is to ensure the integrity of the trial.
kudos to the bughunters that discovered the GPU drivers behaving unexpectedly and contributed to recent bugfixes, but a driver update and further debugging is not going to address the core of this problem. the core is proper communication and management of the target issues at hand, which is a repeated problem.
players who are severely impacted do not have an approximate timeframe of when they can interact with your product again due to being forced to participate in something that could not be opted out of. there was also no mention of this new engine update being pushed in the patch notes for neither version 10.1.1 or 10.1.2's currently published patch notes, which is leading players, including myself, to believe the most recent major change made to the game (denuvo anti-cheat) is the source.
there wasn't a signal of a intended engine update either as far as i'm aware, so the people that are being affected currently have no clue as to what's going on. why is this change suddenly being mentioned in a single thread that someone has to go digging for in the forums and not being properly broadcasted for awareness, as it should've been from the start? you should not be individually responding to me for something like this.
in all fairness, while i understand that you're doing your best to preserve the integrity of the anti-cheat trial, whoever is responsible for patch and version control made this ten times messier and significantly more complicated by performing an engine update at the same time. these two should not have been released simultaneously because now it's going to be difficult for the people who are affected to troubleshoot and identify issues.

i asked before the trial started and mandy told me they couldn’t say when it ends
what???? that's actually ridiculous.
this entire thing is abysmal. not only are they not even testing it in the areas they're supposed to, but people are being barred from playing the game they bought access to because of things out of their control.
at this point it makes me wonder if a proper boycott of the game is warranted here. at the rate things are going though, unfortunately i don't think that many players will commit because they don't feel inconvenienced enough. but this is a direct reflection of what most companies do in the industry now, and there's a genuine lack of care and respect for people who are interested in their game.

Why is it unplayable for you? Can you not log in?
unfortunately it's more than just not being able to login. there's a lot of stability problems that were caused by the anticheat being tested recently. people are repeatedly crashing, getting error messages about EAC's dll still being present, memory-based crashes, input delay and bricking, system lockups trying to load into the main lobby, etc.
it's all around a mess.
-
sorry, but this anticheat is absolute garbage. i have to be straight forward in what i'm about to say.
denuvo has a recorded, lengthy history of causing severe performance issues and instability much like every other stupid anticheat. i'm having to fight with my inputs the entire time i'm playing killer because keystrokes are being locked as well as significant mouse delays.
it is also kernel-level which is an invasion of my privacy, as well as making me, the end user, be very vulnerable to any sort of uncontrolled modifications or system-breaking bugs that can be published by the developers that i was not even given the opportunity to opt out of because this was forced upon users as part of a "live trial" of a product i purchased a license for. because its kernel-level, it's still easy to bypass much like EAC is through poisoned drivers, virtualization, and external devices attached to memory. another buggy, third-party software is NOT going to stop this problem. if you're going to investigate DRM and anti-cheat methods, at least look at the game itself and stop relying on third-party solutions to remedy a problem that can be heavily mitigated at the source. software is supposed to be a supplement, not an end-all-be-all.i will repeat: please stop relying on anticheat to do everything for you. stop invading my privacy. stop harming the user experience. stop involving your paying players in this dumb arms race that gets more unstable and invasive by the minute. stop buying into the sales pitches that these third parties are giving you, because majority of it is exaggerated in order to secure your signature.
from a sys admin's perspective, your focus needs to be on what information your server is checking and accepting, while your clients needs to have limited exposure in what data can be sent and received. focus on limiting the attack surface.
edit: i forgot to include my second thought on why this is something that's only targeted towards steam players, when a good majority of cheaters come from windows and epic games platforms. why are steam players the only group being targeted for this "test"? this completely defeats the purpose of testing the anticheat when you're not even testing it on the correct audience. cheaters do exist on steam, but it's nowhere near as bad as the amount of bot-created accounts that were made on epic. most of the cheating i've seen done on steam was injected accounts, which you clearly prioritized first.

(yes i agree btw)

it's situational. them taking it personally is weird though.
plaything and obliviousness from other hexes forces pentimento to come into play because killers benefit from survivors suffering from oblivious if they're not coordinated or situationally aware. the downside for the killer having pentimento is that if all survivors are careful about stealthing to cleanse totems, then it doesn't really do anything for them. this, of course, depends on how long survivors can deny chase to be able to clear up the totems. but realistically that's the only counterplay to this build if a counterforce player is not on standby or proper coordination isn't available.
if you're able to stick gens however, you can play without cleansing much and still fight through penti just fine.
unfortunately this build is a setup for a very long game, so you have to be strategic and leverage stealth. with retribution, this makes it more difficult, but baiting chase while 3 others stealth is crucial until a good portion of the totems are burned and the team can safely get back on gens. -
im gonna say it for what it is: this event was a bust and there's no point to it. cool, DBD made it to 10 years, but there's nothing worthy of celebrating here.
most decisions that have been made were in the benefit of the company, not the players. so yes, you can enforce your "future vision" moving forward, but less and less will people be willing to participate.

I completely agree with this. I've been dying to get a ranked mode in DBD for the longest. This wouldn't completely solve the issue of people sweating hardcore in quick play but it would at least get a large portion of the mega sweats out of the general queue. I would love a ranked mode personally since I enjoy trying my hardest. I also think a ranked mode would contribute greatly to event modes like this because the people sweating will just finish their quests and go right back to ranked and most of the rest of the people left would be people wanting to interact with the event mechanics.
that's a good viewpoint. all around the game just needs more options for people to spread out. we are at the point where queue times can be sustainable, and luckily it sounds like that it is a path that the game is steering towards with the introduction of sandboxing.
perhaps there's hope? -
i still question what metrics they use to determine whether or not someone is actually throwing. i'm assuming its based off of in-game time + points earned.
every system has its weakness though. i don't think bhvr understands how easy it is to get sub 10k and to die in less than 4 minutes against certain killers.
-
unfortunately the nature of gaming has becoming very 'all or nothing'. in a game that still forces you to have to share a playerbase pool with those who see the game differently, its really difficult for everyone to find a way to balance chill gameplay and competitiveness.
that is why people have been fighting for a separation in queue types for specific playstyles the longest time. but this isn't going to make things any easier as people will go where they please. sadly, at least for the type of game that this is, i don't think there's any way to make it work for all. the best thing you can do is simply accept things as they are and just facilitate your own gameplay. someone will always disagree with your vision for how you see the game, but at the end of the day we're all here to play on dead by daylight.
in hindsight though, i think the removal of MMR regulation in event queues contributes to this issue significantly. people who are actively pushing to win are not being forced to play with similar players like they would be in regular public queues. others who are playing casually feel this.

What? You and your culture are not entitled to royalties of fictional works based on your culture. Imagine if this logic was applied to all peoples cultures.
i mean, in my opinion that's how it should be within reason. anything that has high significance should be compensated by giving back to the people they got that inspiration from if they're monetizing it. for years marginalized communities have had cultural aspects exploited and reused for purposes that only benefited the people that took it for their own gain.
the "fictional work" you're talking about is a very real concept that actively gets mocked, stereotyped, and pieces of it resold by people who intend to profit off of our long and hard fought identity on the regular. i would feel the same exact way if middle eastern hijabs (albeit controversial), grand boubous from senegal, kimonos from japan, or other identifying pieces of cultures went through the same thing. and they do experience this.
i think it's right for a culture that was repeatedly being destroyed, converted, and erased to ask for more than just exposure. there's a balance between giving and taking. you can share a culture without taking away from them, especially with an already crippled peoples

Absolutely. And I'm surprised your feedback is apparently so controversial to a lot of people. Saying you feel it should have been available for shards instead of auric cells is valid. I would assume the reason they're charging for it is because they probably paid for consultancy when designing the cosmetic, and also want it to be easily accessible for newcomers. But even so, selling for shards wouldn't mean the company gets nothing for their efforts. Shards are earned through time spent in game (*a lot* of time if we're being honest), which is immensely valuable to any gaming company.
thank you. ;w;

So yeah, I think I'm done arguing with you. How dare you call someone who is representing their tribe and their culture by wearing clothing with a specific design as inhuman? You are vile.
i dont think that's what unicorn meant.
however while i can agree that the character development is a little lacking with shane, native design on modern flare is something that does exist and i think his casual tone is fine. someone can be a representation of their culture without being super thematic about it. you see it in other cultures as well.
plus, since he just released, more information about him will come out the longer he's in the game. the backstory is just the starting point.
subtle reminder to everyone else to please keep the topic on the thread/op. id really hate for this thread to get locked or people getting punished when it's a good teaching opportunity for all parties. i want this to be constructive

The person that designed the cosmetic already got their paycheck from BHVR, they aren't losing rent money from the cosmetic being made free. The only people that would lose out are the shareholders and higher ups, and realistically I doubt they'd even notice a difference on their bottom line from this single cosmetic being free.
The request isn't that the outfit should be removed or that there is anything wrong with it being in game, the request is just that it should be free. Its weird to me that there is such pushback over wanting to make a cosmetic free.
this. i just want the cosmetic to be accessible through shards now and that proceeds that's generated gets given back to the people. i wasn't asking for bhvr to be burned at the stake or people being robbed of their time investment. a repeat of orela's cosmetic release would be beautiful because actual people's lives could be improved while giving the respect to something culturally significant.

But native regalia is in fact sold all over the place in the usa. Im not sure about canada but in the usa regalia is not uncommon to be sold in stores in areas connected to natives.
So it seems that your attitude is not held by all other peoples, so probably hard to hold bhvr to that standard.
with regulation. for example, we have federal laws here that ban non-natives from selling crafts as native unless they're affiliated/enrolled or are an artisan. essentially, an actual tribe recognized by the government has to back the seller in order for their product to be on the market
most regalia is sold by actual natives, and people who often purchase it are either native themselves or are non-natives who are supporting the reservation that the artisan is from.
in canada, such things does not exist (as far as im aware) and i think that's where the gap in the bridge begins.

@MashedBroccoli said:
as a native tc is right, maybe they should’ve used another cosmetic as the auric cell purchase instead of the regalia but of course this community wouldn’t understand how wrong this is. Screw marginalized people think of the corporation!
thank you for speaking alongside with me as a fellow native. some of the community understands which i'm grateful for, but most do not, which i can also somewhat understand.
it just feels alienating to be told that i'm fighting against progressivism, being likened to twitter folk, and that i'm tearing bhvr down, not considering people need to get paid for rent when i understand these things but deep down it really doesn't feel right for them to profit off of us this way. it isn't even clear if bhvr intends on sharing these profits for a good cause which worries me. it really should've been something other than regalia. i think they could've been better off designing clothing from the ground up with input or referencing more casual wears (as they already have with some of the stuff they already made, which i like)
this same rhetoric is said to me when i see symbols being misused or people selling war bonnets/roaches as accessories for parties without understanding what it does, what it means, etc.
all of us on mother earth deserve equal representation, but there's ways to do it without taking away from communities. "it's just a skin" to some, but the philosophy behind it matters more in the grand scheme of things because it influences how stuff like this is handled later on.

They put labor into creating the cosmetic they then get paid for it that's how this works. Also they had Ojibwe consultants working with them the entire time and I assume they helped work on it and greenlighted it so I don't really think it's for you to say whether it's okay or not what they do with the character as long as they're alright with it.
i think as part of the general family of people, i do still reserve the right to at least share criticism and my viewpoint as feedback. my opinion is not the end-all-be-all and is not meant to be, hence why a post like this is up for debate to begin with.
now that i am aware that ojibwe consultants were involved, i do find it comforting that it went through their hands before they gave bhvr the okay. but my stance on that is: sure while the few that have reviewed it gave it the green light, will that land the same way with everyone else?
this isn't to say that bhvr needs to consult every tribe and nation, but i'm just hoping this is something that they've at least considered.
again, since i have been told that this is temporary and is the regular pattern for original survivors, i am not as upset about it as i was last night. i feel way better knowing that bhvr was considerate enough to consult a people for this sort of thing. i was mainly concerned about it being for-profit the entire time and how uncomfortable it was seeing this for the first time.

I get it, I really do. But it does bother me that the more a company like BHVR tries to be representative and diverse that they are punished for it, every single time, because progressive thinking is inconsistent and no matter what you do, someone finds it offensive and drops by to poop down your chimney about it.
I remember them getting flak for making David gay because 'femme erasure' and 'of course he's a white guy'.
I remember them getting flak for Trickster's Valentine's outfit because 'fetishization' or Krasue because 'cultural appropriation'.
Maybe, just maybe, we approach matters like this with an iota of charity? Because otherwise all you're encouraging is companies to stay in their lane and never attempt anything like this - and that's how you get boring fiction.
i see your viewpoint and i can agree on this. however i will always have mixed feelings and skepticism due to the nature of selfishness that comes with this representation from a for-profit organization. businesses are there to make money, and in a day where there's a lot of performative and dishonest behavior, it gets difficult to tell when something is genuine or not. it gets even more scary when it comes to something that's close to you. a company can easily sell you the idea of being progressive, but do they truly mean it?
i would assume so given bhvr's focus on different types of communities, but knowing that it always has the added benefit of being a marketing tactic disconcerts me. maybe i'll grow to be more accepting of it over time, but right now... i don't know.

Yeah I guess so people wouldn't combine it with hobo hat or something idk.
Im kinda afraid that Shane will have a huge shortage of cosmetics just because he's native American and bhvr as Canadian company is extremely sensitive about it. So maybe doing stuff like clown outfit might be offensive idk
outside of natives, i'm also concerned about how they're going to treat other cultures moving forward. i might edit my OP to reflect that deeper. but it is very late and this was on my mind in the sense that i really wanted to get it off my chest. i might rewrite the post entirely bc it doesn't entirely capture my thought process
i'm all for companies and businesses shedding light on cultures, as everyone deserves an opportunity to learn and be seen. but i'm scared about this becoming a repeated thing where BHVR commits to collecting money off of the backs of marginalized communities and doing nothing for them other than "you get exposure".
holding their feet to the fire helps set an example on giving communities the respect they deserve while being represented. i don't want them to be scared of representing, but they should do it ethically.

@random1543 editing my comment to reply to you, but that's not always the case. most of the time bhvr locks cosmetics into sets to prevent broken cosmetics or incompatibility with other pieces. there can be a variety of things with this one, but that's as far as i know as one of the reasons they do it.

Keep in mind to you saying "hell no"" to the above is that there is nothing related to this group ever produced. I'm not saying it's right but pointing out the reality of the situation. How much do you think BHVR spent on this survivor design? from concept to initial design to model to animation, etc. etc.

I get where you’re coming from, but BHVR is a business that wants to make money. All original survivors can be bought with money or shards, and these characters cost BHVR money to create. They’re not just going to give them away for free.
i understand the position of cost associated with resources spent, but you also have to consider that it was BHVR that ultimately made the decision to invest in creating the cosmetics. they should have also been aware of the cultural significance and what such a move can imply to the people they're representing
they are profiting off of the sale of the character, and rightfully they should because they invested the time into bringing him into the game. i am not saying they shouldn't also profit off of additional creations, but things that are this culturally significant should not be one of those things.
to me, it is the equivalent of going up to the karamojong tribe in uganda as a foreigner, making a copy of their jewellery, and then selling it to everybody else as trinkets without giving them anything in return. it can be incredibly disrespectful especially when you consider the history of how us communities are treated even in modern day. this is an ethical issue
again, at least give back to the communities you're making money off of. they did it with orela (albeit once), why can't they do it again?

PERK: It's My Turn:
Whenever you didn't look around while receiving a skill-check, any failed skill-check turns into a Good skill-check instead and you receive a token.
After receiving 5 tokens, once per match, while running within 8 meters of a chased survivor, press the active ability button to swap all hook stages if they have more hook stages then you. You become the obsession
EXPLANATION:
The first part is just a lifesaver for people who play with friends, and want to be able to chat on discord while doing gens. Making it a lot more fun in general. When you are chatting, you are not moving your camera, so if a skill-check triggers while you're typing, it will turn into a good skill-check instead and add a token.
The second part of course pairs well with playing with friends. It allows you to transfer hook stages to help out in matches where the "weakest link" is getting tunnelled, allowing more players to express their skills before the match is over.
This overall creates a perfect perk for people who are playing with friends.
The token system ensures that the player that wants to use the ability needs to have spent at least a decent time doing objectives and cannot have just been goofing around.
Unlike strong perks like Shoulder The Burden, that can create an entirely extra chase + struggle phase (which is very strong), this perk merely swaps the hook stages to another person who is also close to the killer, keeping the survivor close to death as always, if death-hook, and in the best case scenario adds 1 extra health-stage before the killer can claim their first kill, if the ability is used when the death-hook survivor is injured and the ability user is still full health.yknow sometimes i feel like you wake up and make the conscious decision to try and develop the most ludicrous post concepts of all time. i am being so serious and non-offending when i say i can't figure out if you're trying to be funny or if this is a genuine post

And surv side is a side of team skill expression. God why you so stubborn about getting a win in a game your team lost, it would be absurd in any other team-based pvp, if your team loses you also lose no matter how godly player you are, thats like common sense, not difficult concept to grasp, but i guess dbd players are built different. Why cant you play killer or just a game where only individual skill expression matters if losing because of bad teammates is so frustrating for you.
idk i'm capable of turning games around even with endurance in endgame by playing around it, or doing my best to avoid endgame in the first place. i fail to see the issue here?
there's also no hard definition of a win for the team. results are just a conclusion of in-game performance against whatever killer you're going up against. individual skill relies on your decision-making as a player. and yes, this includes leveraging endurance.
being smart about your deathspots to force a better chance at escaping or the killer making a critical mistake by not being mindful about where they're putting you, how many survivors are alive and their health state or whereabouts, etc. matters in this scenario. it's not just "free".
also for the sake of providing examples:
- if i unhook you against a bubba, no survivors have anti-slug or something like mettle of man to help a hit-tank, and the gate is 30 meters away, endurance is not going to save you. you will get two-tapped if bubba chooses you.
- if you get unhooked and your teammates are injured or force a trade, endurance doesn't matter because the killer can secure another stage or potential kill elsewhere.
but outright trying to void this aspect entirely for end game because you don't want to have to think about your actions carefully or be strategic, and instead blaming "bad teammates" for your failure to control survivors is a personal issue.
the game should not have to, and will not bend to your emotions.
edit: post was meant to be addressed to OP as well but quotes broke.

The difference between winning and losing?
Absolutely nothing. You go to next match.
Winning or losing is not so much a solo queue issue rather mistakes by bad perk choice or bad play and mostly by your own actions.
As a newish survivor I know as I've made every mistake in the book.
I accept my fate and try again hoping to get better. It's really that simple.
i like this mentality. players need to exercise this more.

when will people just let others play the game normally

i figure the feature is designed intentionally to keep you in the game for longer for bloodpoint grinding. this is also part of the reason they are still stingy about how many bloodpoints you receive in-game. unfortunately they're not going to change this because it is the intended game model

I agree with this actually. I hate playing against Trapper. I'd rather play against almost anyone. On some maps the traps are impossible to see and you just get nabbed for existing. It's even more aggravating when it's the auto reset add-on. I can't stand that in 2026 dbd I have to scope out the location of the basement and avoid it.
classic toxic survivor main wanting the game to handhold them because they can't just walk around the traps 🙄🙄🙄🙄
-
i think it should be kept. the idea of a survivor giving me a massage during a stressful trial keeps me grounded. ☺️

i think that the entirity of my point is nullified. Considering that almost every icon identifying someone is a killer icon or killer perk icon. It seems that killers want to trash talk survivors no matter what. But this is dbd forums.
???? where did you even get this from
at this point i'd agree that your point is nullified because of this response. frankly, i think people who encourage tribalism should lose the ability to communicate alongside people who encourage toxicity on all platforms.

You can adblock the vote down element if you don't want to see it.
Personally I like to see how many people I annoyed.
sure, but this doesn't change how the voting system is especially designed to prevent topics from being bumped or doesn't give an incentive to contribute to a conversation. the same thing that a good portion of this community argued that should not be a thing for literal years before it was re-enabled (without discussion, mind you).
it's like putting a rug over a rusty nail: you can't see the nail and thus feel more comfortable walking on the carpet barefoot, but you're still going to get stabbed if you step on it wrong.
the nature of karma and voting systems has outright destroyed the quality of communication in bulletin boards and social platforms as a whole. when combined with moderation decisions, these forums have been becoming smaller and smaller.
blocking elements can't bring people back.
edit because now im angry actually: like right now. why is leon's OP no longer getting bumped when it had a reasonable conversational point? because people down voted it. now this thread is doomed to die because people decided to mass-downvote instead of talking about it. this is infuriating

consider the 'close chat feature' as an alternative to isolating a portion of the playerbase.
also, how does this address overall toxicity with other players? last time i checked, this issue exists with both roles because people are the issue, not the role itself.

The game has felt like a big bowl of spaghetti, ever since they moved from UE4 to UE5.
The code-base BHVR made back in 2016 has really overstayed its welcome, and I think it is high time that we get a rebuilt game from the ground up.And @Shroompy I absolutely feel your frustration with the game. Players (and especially survivor players) outright giving up has been a bigger issue ever since 6.1.0 came around, but I guess it is getting worse and worse with every new update.
One more reason why I won't touch soloQ survivor these days
I would also call for more things to be reportable offenses, because the categories are a little vague.
As for cheaters, I still don't understand why the anti-cheat hasn't been improved, ever since the Epic free weekend, that brought in a slew of cheaters. Granted, I have not been running into them as much, but I have seen a few (mostly survivors insta-finishing gens or locking the killer in place), and videos of the terminator bots.
It also breaks my heart to see the game that I have spent over 2000 hours in is starting to crumble like this. I have been playing on and off since Halloween 2018, and I have been through big updates like the EGC, the MMR update, dedicated servers and 6.1.0 to name a few, but none has ever been as buggy or broken as the updates that has come after the Unreal Engine 5.0 update.the mentions of UE5 being a core problem to all of this is something i've been saying for a long while. there's a very heavy reliance on a poorly optimized game engine with aged code. you can't be surprised that the game encounters an issue every time a BHVR dev does so much as look at it or breathe on it.
i'd argue that the DCing issue, however, goes all the way back to version 4 of the game at the minimum where cheating had a much higher prevalence before the major EAC upgrade. a lot of the things we're seeing now is just a repeat of history.
unfortunately the game is in that point of its lifespan where you're not going to see many more improvements to its infrastructure, even with a rewrite. a lot of the things that they've created are based on blueprints, which is going to be difficult to translate into proper code without them taking many years rebuilding the basics. they're going to be encouraged to take more shortcuts to meet deadlines than they are actually delivering a stable build of the game.

the issue with the forums nowadays is the fact that the social aspect has been heavily squashed by the over-dramatization of personal experiences. you can't go into a thread expecting a well-rounded discussion without someone vomiting negativity or woes that they want to dump on you in order to feel "heard" about something that either was a personal interpretation of a scenario, or an actual genuine issue that has been neglected for years.
in combination with the down-voting system making a come back, a lot of the topics and ways of communicating seem to revolve more around numbers and "who says what better". as you can see, majority of the topics here are either recycled or contain some level of band-wagoning.
honestly most of the things that i could point out about what's going on around here is just obvious enough to where i don't even need to acknowledge it in my reply. it's just exhausting logging in here and seeing the same 500 topics, the same 500 replies, and the same 500 people going tit-for-tat on things that go absolutely nowhere.

Noooo, my forum tone! I promise I wasn't being sarcastic! <3
i understand you may have not been, but it can read that way. unfortunately some of us are being driven to assume otherwise due to how things have been going lately on the forums, including myself. that's why you were being questioned.

I'm not refuting, I just don't think it's a wholly accurate translation. I appreciate the opportunity to give clarity on my intention. ❤️
okay so i don't normally go out of my way to do this, but this was such an eyebrow raiser and i had to respond.
was it necessary to respond with such sarcasm? i understand if a user may have been pedantic, but this doesn't feel like a professional-level response from a staff member.
all i'm saying is you didn't have to do that to unicorn, man. there was a much better way to respond to that.

I'm all for deincentivizating camping, slugging, and tunneling, but you want this and SWF gone? So what's left? Every match being identical, with a hook spreading killer going against 4 solos? Boring as hell.
I'm really tired of everyone generalizing SWF. As someone who's played with serveral dozen people, there's no one way that SWF is. The comp players doing clock callouts are a tiny minority. The average SWF is regular people playing in a regular way, while talking—and still getting stomped. I escape probably slightly more matches as a solo than in a SWF, but I have more fun in SWF. It's not some all powerful force.
And as much as I'm against hard tunneling, and how I do agree some unwell people use this game to boost their fragile egos (I've met my fair share), you can't say everyone who's aggressive is a bully. You have no idea why they're acting the way they are. Carried over tilt? Losing all their other matches that day? Not even understanding there's a potential moral dilemma? Generalizing "tunnel = bully" just ain't it, just like generalizing "SWF = problematic" ain't it.
i really wish forum posts could be pinned

I’m not complaining about players, I’m just making an observation.
I observe that players make terrible decisions, offering opportunity after opportunity to the killer. And of course, the more dangerous the killer is, the more they benefit from those opportunities:
- survivor running around the killer while they’re carrying someone to a hook instead of doing a gen / hiding
- survivor messing around with their flashlight instead of doing a gen
- survivor bringing the killer to another survivor repairing a gen, when they could have led them elsewhere and clearly knew it would be disruptive
- survivor working on a gen right next to the one they just finished
- survivor opening a chest, doing a totem, looking at the sky, admiring the grass instead of repairing
- survivor using the strongest pallets on the map within the first minute
- survivor insisting on repairing the same gen instead of going to another one, giving the killer an easy hook
- survivor giving free hits to the killer
- survivor staying 1 meter from a gen and acting surprised the killer comes back after kicking it
- survivor staying on a gen and getting hit by Pain Resonance
- survivor leaving a gen at 95% to go unhook, dooming it because of DMS
- etc.
But sure, survivors can’t improve at all. And don’t think these mistakes come from beginners—you’d be surprised by the playtime of the survivors I’m talking about.
So the question isn’t “Can they improve?” but rather “Do they want to improve?”
So the question isn’t “Can they improve?” but rather “Do they want to improve?”
THANK YOU OH MY GOD SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT. please pop yourself a bottle of champagne. you just became one of my favorite forum posters of all time
